"You've never been in a spell shop?" Dyanna asked. She thought for a moment, then pointed at a string of salt dough beads. "That's a spell rosary," she said, "People who can't cast their own spells buy them to put spells into, and then break a bead to activate it."

This couldn’t be real... But then again, he was experiencing it in first person, wasn’t he? All of a sudden, everything this girl and the people around him said was no longer a bunch of gibberish.

He was almost afraid to open his own mouth again. What even was the truth anymore? Was he speaking his own language, or theirs? In which direction did this effect work? What side-effects should he expect? How did this even work on a scientific level? His brain was boiling with questions and he was unable to provide a real satisfactory answer to any of them.

It felt like being back in his days of learning, sitting in front of the most complex formula yet.

“Spells...” He mumbled under his breath, following her gaze with a mechanic movement of the head, barely giving a real look at the necklace; his gaze had lost focus to all the inward thinking that was going on in his head. Roy had to clamber his way out of it just to be present to the conversation. “You must be talking about.. ‘magic’? Is that what you call it?”

A term he thought would remain in faerie tales. The word barely came out and still it was enough for the man to feel stupid. He expected the little girl would burst out laughing in his face for even suggesting it.

And didn’t she just imply that this was something many people could do?

Diet, lore, tail, and familiar for mer-Namira :D

for the merfolk…

diet: what does my muse eat most within their setting? I don't think Namira's actually had the chance to eat anything in her mer form? The one time I've written her actually in that form, she was terrified and in a lot of pain. With her mer form being tied to a charm, she doesn't have to stay underwater to eat, so her diet doesn't change. (If you're curious, she mostly lives on wild game, fruits and vegetables that she's foraged, and the occasional meal in a town if she's passing through.)

lore: how does my muse’s lore differ from more traditional mermaid lore?  I think I wrote it down somewhere, but I've honestly forgotten? Anyway, the way I worked this verse out was by having Brelynna, Namira's mentor in the Silent Shadows, take her to Waterdeep. I'm not sure why they were going there, probably to make contact with another branch of the guild? They got separated, and Namira went to the docks to explore. There, she saw the mer that live in the harbour, and she decided to watch them for a while. (If I'm being honest, I think she was captivated by their apparent freedom.) She'd been watching them for a while when a noise startled her, and she fell in. A mermaid saved her and helped calm her down, and gave her the charm when they both had to go. (Things are pretty malleable in the Forgotten Realms, which is the general D&D setting.)

tail: describe my muse’s tail in detail. color, length, the scales, any decorations they wear. etc.  I took inspiration from one of the mer forms in The Sims 4: Island Living, which I think I posted a screenshot of? In written RP, it's different. When transformed, Namira's tail is brilliant teal, and slowly darkens to blue about halfway down. Her fin is quite fine, and almost looks feathery? It's a little hard to describe. I've never described how long her tail is, but given the fact that she's six feet tall (as an adult, she's about 5'5" in her younger verses), it's not too outlandish to say she'd be about a foot or two longer, is it? In terms of scales, hers don't stop at just her tail. Once again, I took inspiration from The Sims and gave her modesty scales, I think they're called? They make it uncomfortable for her to wear a shirt or any kind of cover up, since they're basically doing that job for her.

Turns out, I hadn't posted any of her. Oops! Anyway, I hope this does a better job of explaining the modesty scale thing. There's some on her back, too, that's just how this option works. They aren't exactly there in written RP.

familiar: has my muse met any other aquatic mythological beings? which ones? did they get along with them? why or why not? Outside of the mermaid that saved her life, no, not yet. She's met up with that same mermaid on a couple of occasions, most recently to talk about life. The mermaid gave her a gift, another charm, to give to her beloved, so he can teach her to swim. (I might end up making that mermaid a proper muse at some point, stay tuned!)

I know ff.net and ao3 have different rating systems, but to generalize, the vast majority of my fics are rated teen plus for safety or “g”, and there doesn’t seem to be much in between lol.

Ed picked up the phone on the sixth ring. Mostly because it was getting annoying and not out of any real desire to talk to any idiot that would dare call him this early in the morning.

“What?”

“Mr. Elric?”

Ed blinked, because Mustang called him “Fullmetal,” and on occasion “Ed,” but he did not call him “Mr. Elric.”

“Are you drunk, Mustang?”

Ed sensed barely-contained mirth from the other end of the line, and Ed barely contained the urge to smash the phone through the wall. He was not in the mood for this. Being sent to backwater towns in the middle of a blistering summer on water table inspections did that to him. He’d managed to cool of his automail in a freezing shower, but even with the fan at high power and the windows open, the hotel room was sweltering at best. Sleep had been evasive in such conditions, and now that it was just past seven and he’d slept maybe a total of three hours, his tolerance for Mustang’s idiocy was at an all-time low. 

“Mr. Elric,” Mustang continued, sounding like he’d tried to press the humor out of his voice with a cold iron. “It is my duty to inform you that Edward Elric is deceased.”

Somewhere outside Ed’s hotel window, a cricket chirped. Or maybe it was the receiver’s last swan song as it slowly gave way in Ed’s automail grip. 

“Mustang,” Ed managed through gritted teeth. “This is the dumbest joke I’ve ever—”

“No, really,” Mustang said, and . . . was that a giggle? “You're dead.” 

Describe a fic that almost happened, but then it didn't.

The one above xD But hey, it’s off to a decent start! Maybe I'll get back to it at some point. (I’m going to break the rules and provide context for the above). It was just a fun little crack fic based off of that one M.A.S.H. episode where Hawkeye (different Hawkeye xD) is accidentally listed as dead and life becomes inconvenient. 

What was the most difficult fic for you to write (but in the end you made it)?

Honestly, just about all of them :’D Especially those darn multi chaps lol. StP almost didn't get finished because I went through a bad breakup towards the end of it and lost my mojo, then I didn't touch it for forever and decided everyone had forgotten about it, but the occasional review reminded me that folks were still reading it and deserved a conclusion, so I finally got it together after a super long hiatus.

Is there a muse that you wish gets more attention?

I went over this in a previous ask but I have a near constant Cyno brainrot these days, and can never have enough attention for him, particularly from same-fandom muses. But tbh I am so thirsty for RP I enjoy cross overs too with him right now!

Which one of your muses have you been playing the longest?

Oh boy, this brings me back! I think the answer can change. If I were to go by which muse I started to RP first, my experience as Roy Mustang started as far back as the early 2000s, back on MSN messenger.

I think that lasted for about a couple years. Adding that to the time I roleplayed him on FFXI (from 2010 to about 2017), and with my time on Tumblr, Roy has been my muse for a cumulative total of ten years! Geez.

There are muses I have roleplayed about as long or just a bit less than that, but they are not part of my roster here. So yes, I think Roy takes the crown. Congrats, Colonel!

Which muse is most likely to make new friends? :3

Definitely Totsuka. This bean of sunshine doesn't even need an excuse to approach you. He loves to wander around with his camera and meet new people, asking about their stories and lending a friendly ear to their troubles!

A lot of the time, when I'm at work, I'll just slip into a daydream and autopilot for like, half an hour. My job's pretty boring and very easy to autopilot through, though I do get snapped out of it by customers.

Usually, I'm daydreaming about certain threads or dreaming up new AUs, or I'm just off in my own little world entirely. It's probably not a good thing, but I really can't stop myself from doing it!

The tiefling quietly walked through the forest, noticing that not far from here, a village seemed to be settled in the distance.

She wasn’t really sure what kind of world she landed into this time, so she had to be careful just in case half-demons didn’t exist here. It didn’t help her case that she was a tiefling, anyway, so being careful was part of the routine whenever coming to a new place.

All Kalliope could see in the distance was a young girl of dark hair and bright eyes- one that for now she would only watch from afar.

“Hmh...I hope this world is not as magicless as it feels like...”

What calms Hayate down after a bad day?

After a bad day, the thing that calms Hayate down the most is just spending time with The Pack--that is, with Team Mustang. He wants love and affection, often rubbing up against someone or pawing at them for attention. He wants comfort. This even applies to when his bad day leaves him with anger. Soothing pets and calm words from the people he loves can help calm him faster than anything else. 

Basically, he’s just a puppy that wants to be around the people he loves.

Ways he says "I love you."

Hayate says I love you in a few different ways. Some ways are more welcome than others, though. He likes to to be physically affectionate with the people he loves. He’ll jump, play, and try to include the other in his play. He’ll also bring gifts to the people he loves. Hayate is a smart dog! He pays attention to things, and sometimes he’ll bring people things that he knows that they like, like, tools or pens, or shoes. Sometimes he brings them something that he thinks is a good gift, like bones, or the occasional dead animal. (Hawkeye and Havoc were the two that dealt the best with that. Breda counted it a threat). But he’ll also show love by snuggling with or laying next to the people he loves, sometimes even pushing into their hands for pets. He’ll lick them, or try to be close to them, or allow them to hug and cling on him, because he loves them.

Something he could never forgive?

Someone hurting the team--and specifically, someone hurting Riza. If he’s in a situation where he had to protect the team then all signs of him being a sweet dog are gone and it’s attack mode. Now, he’s a disciplined dog, so if he’s been given the order to stay, or its a situation where he’s waiting for the command to attack, he will, but anyone who hurts the team is on his list pretty much forever.
