but also im very much a "the unknown is dwight" theory/au truther, although my favorite thing about the unknown is how up to interpretation he is!

getting into my theory however, first off, i mean. look at them.

same hair and the same pants. however, dwight has short sleeves while the unknowns are rolled up. so take that how you will.

there were also three lines of his in the lobby that stood out to me.

"i lived in dungeons long forgotten."

"i'll send you a postcard."

"prepare for the expedition."

the first one could potentially reference the fog itself and the various realms within, the maps the trials take place in. many of which are relics of the past, left to rot.

the last two stick out to me due to dwight having entered the fog on a camping expedition, being abandoned by his coworkers in the woods.

dwight before the fog was already a bit of a questionable person, having drugged his boss in his tome lore. granted, he had no idea it would result in his boss nearly beating someone to death, but it was odd he even did that in the first place.

take this one with a grain of salt as it references a non canonical game, but could give us insight into dwights feelings regarding the fog and being the "leader" of the survivors.

to paraphrase his monologue down to the most telling parts,

"watching wraith get eliminated was the first time in this unending spiral staircase of pain that is my life that ive felt even a modicum of joy."

"every minute that i'm alive is a nightmare."

"please, erase me from this existence. make it so i was never born. pull the plug on this experiment and let my soul be free!"

if this is how he feels about being in that resort for eternity, how do you think he feels leading such an increasingly large group of people? in a realm such as the fog?

dwight most likely finally went off the edge, and the entity took that opportunity to turn him into it's newest killer, possibly using him to lure in new survivors as well.

as for the the unknown being so violently deformed and twisted, i can see that representing dwights once altruistic ideals being contorted and twisted over time into resentment and a desire for power.

although. this is just a theory. i wonder what kind of theory :3c

About the Unknown

I have a theory. A game theory. And we're going to ignore the fact that delving into this would put me on the Unknown's shit list IMMEDIATELY. It’s fine.

Disclaimer: I do not know what’s canon, and they kept it intentionally vague. Everyone’s valid to have their head canons and this is just the explanation my brain conjured up.

"The Unknown was believed to be a mysterious evil so heinous that investigating it almost immediately invited death. At least that was how the story went. And there were many stories. One story was of a woman in Greenville who disappeared without a trace on stage in front of a room full of witnesses. Her friend disappeared weeks later while trying to investigate what happened. The police were stumped. They had no clues or leads, and that mystery created the perfect storm for amplifying and spreading an urban legend." An excerpt from the very beginning of the official lore page

I want to focus on a few key words here. It was believed to be heinously evil. There were stories about disappearances. Said mysterious stories spread and amplified the urban legend.

The Unknown gains power from people's beliefs and thoughts about it. Not too unlike Pennywise from 'IT'. But there's a catch.

People theorize that it might be an alien, a curse, a cult-created abomination, or just a really elusive serial killer... but it is all of those things. Because people believe that it is.

It doesn't have control over what it is. It's a horrible hodge-podge monstrosity of many things, seemingly mashed and twisted together violently. It likely started as something completely different, or nothing at all. Maybe a vague presence that only observed. But people could feel the presence. And while neither good nor evil, the peoples' minds conjured up visions, explanations of what it might be. Some imagined it to be a man lurking in the shadows. Watching and stalking them. And so the Unknown's body began to form. First as a man. Even still, with this new body, it was inherently off. Uncanny from the start. The Unknown was at its core so far removed from humanity that it still could not pass as one of us. So it would linger in the forest, only venturing to the threshold between town and woods.

Maybe an unfortunate camper happened upon it at night. This shadow in the dark, distinctly the shape of a man. But what does one think first, encountering a strange man in the dead of night? All alone and isolated in the deep woods?

"He's going to kill me with a knife, or an ax!"

And so it did. Because they believed it would.

It only snowballed from there, after the body was found, only a few paces away from their untouched tent. There was no evidence left. No DNA, no footprints to follow. Just a bloodied body, with a skull cloven almost completely in twain; by what was suspected to be an ax. So the theories began.

No one could explain the lack of evidence left behind. It was too perfect, too efficient. And what were the chances of a normal man doing such damage in only a single swing?

More murders followed. At first, people started disappearing, their bodies later being found in the woods, not far from the first victim. They grew increasingly more mangled, to the point that authorities began to question whether it was done by a man, or an animal.

The people became afraid. Paranoid that this insane ax murderer would tire of the woods and enter their homes at night, while they were resting peacefully in bed. The fears were beginning to surpass that of just a serial killer. The Unknown was beginning to become more of a boogeyman figure to them. No human man could have committed such gruesome killings.

People began to disappear from their homes at night. Then the streets. Then the cafe and theater. Then... sometimes in broad daylight. Its territory only grew. Its abilities more and more vast and unpredictable. The theories only escalated... and throughout its rampage, the Unknown grew increasingly monstrous. Its humanoid body twisted and contorted to fit the peoples' beliefs. But nothing was erased - only added on. Which is why it existed in the horrific state that it did.

A body can only fit so much substance inside without tearing itself apart. Without becoming an deformed, unstable, and agonizing vessel to pilot and exist in.

Human beings did this to it. Human beings made what it was. They assumed the worst of it, and it became that.

So naturally, it became hateful and bitter. It loathes humans. They did this. It lives in constant agony and isolation because of them... only for the crime of observing and existing in their vicinity. That's why it killed the ones who dive deeper into its existence and theorize about what it is. They kept making it worse. Inflicting more pain upon it and twisting its body further and further.

It mirrors humans' own words to them. Snippets of conversation, pleas for help. It does not truly have its own voice. It only has what others have spoken about it, and around it.

But its feelings towards human beings are clear, based on its words. Especially in its memento mori. "The terror. The horror. Terribly frightening, isn't it." The way it parrots their words in this case almost seems vindictive and sarcastic. These are all things that human beings have said about it.

Thought outside of what it's been made into became increasingly difficult. Yet, somehow, the Unknown is vaguely aware of this fact: it could have been spared this horrific existence, had human beings chosen differently.

And for the Unknown, it only got worse when the Entity stole it away. It begged and pleaded for help - ironically, seeking it from that which it loathed most. A human being. It was torn from our world and plunged into the never ending loop that are Her trials. All for the sake of feeding Her appetite for suffering and torment. And it isn't only at the survivors' expense. It is at the expense of the Unknown as well. It suffers just as much as they... if not more. They at least have companions to rely on - with varying results, of course. It has nobody.

All hope for it healing is lost. The survivors have no reason not to think it a ruthless, horrific monster. And in turn, it has no reason not to hate and slaughter them.

Dwight and Ghostface/Danny connections/similarities/parallels (a summary)

1. Similar ‘sparkly’ texture of the Pizza Hoodie and the movie Ghostface outfit

2. The red stripes on the hoodie looking like an outline of Danny’s cowl and shoulder parts + x2 downward arrows on the arms

3. The eye moles; Dwight has a mole under his right eye, Timothy Olyphant who plays Mickey Altieri in Scream 2, A GHOSTFACE, has a mole under his left eye. Moles in the same place just on opposite eyes. AND there’s a character called Dwight in the franchise who gets killed by Ghostface.

4. Official artwork and a polaroid charm of the two of them.

5. During the anniversary stream there’s a moment where the camera pans over a table that has Danny’s mask and Dwight’s glasses next to each other.

These are all purely coincidental I’m sure but there have been 3 instances (officially) of the two of them being proximity of each other; the charm, the artwork and the mask and glasses beside each other for the anniversary stream.

I feel like I’m going insane analysing and theorising (not just bc I ship them and bc they’re my mains) but I can’t help but feel there is some subtle association with Dwight and Danny/Ghostfaces. Is there an alternate reality where Dwight is the Ghostface or is there a reality where he and Danny work together as killers like Billy and Stu in the first Scream movie.  Or (assuming they existed in the same universe pre-entity) does Dwight know about the Ghostface and his infamous murders? Did Dwight have an random chance encounter with Danny when he was younger? Does Danny see him as the ‘perfect victim’ and has a particular interest/unexplained obsession for Dwight like how Michael is obsessed with Laurie? If Michael is Danny’s idol then wouldn’t he imitate his idol by having a dangerous fixation for one person like Michael did? Or is it the other way around; that Dwight is the one that has an interest/attraction to Ghostface?

I have a theory about how The Cabin in the Woods ending made Dead by Daylight Realms. Spoiler alert for the TCITW it's a great horror movie for older fans and new ones. The whole point of the movie is to sacrifice 4-5 survivors and if they don't do it the world would be destroy. They don't get the last 2 and there world did get destroyed. The thing that destroyed it was the Ancients. They both have the same name in TCITW and DBD.

They also have the same colors, I think when they completely destroyed the world they made the realms to feed and watch the survivors be haunted down.

Wow Such Gaming did a video about why you wouldn't survive TCITW. He said when Ancients broke free all of mans fears broke out too. So example couple of characters that broke free are Jason Voorhees, The Thing, Chucky, and anything that would scare you broke out too.

It's pretty much like SCP-2006 that copies of fears of people and makes it real (They show him old timey horror movies.)

When there wasn't enough survivors from there world they liked they took different ones from different universes and times. This is probably 100% wrong but I like the idea of them being connected and explains what happened after the ending of TCITW.

how do you think flying on a sword compairs to skateboarding/snowboarding? if an expert snowboarder ended up reincarnated do you think they could be a flying prodigy?

oh my god this ask has me doing the equivalent of that stick figure biting into a thing and tearing it apart (in a good way)

yes and no. i think they'd have a leg up and have a higher chance at being a flying prodigy if and only if qi powered flight has aerodynamics involved, and isn't just the equivalent of using your mind to hover through the air.

think of a paper airplane. you can 1) throw the plane and have it glide, or 2) personally hold the plane and move it through the air. both have the paper plane 'moved' but the forces and energy involved are very different.

(1 is more energy-efficient btw, and energy in the physics sense of work)

so let's say 1) is how sword flight works. okay, let's compare it to riding a skateboard or snowboard.

the key difference is that you don't have the ground. that sounds stupid but it matters.

=

before sword flight, let's think of an aircraft. and before motion, let's think of being still.

without doing work, you can stay in place with a skateboard. why? because you have the ground. the balance of forces is stable without motion. you weight a certain amount and press on the ground, and the ground can push back through the wheels. it's called normal force and we don't have time to go through intro to hs physics. it's why you don't fall through the ground.

snow is a bit different but it still works out. ground is dense enough that you don't compress it like snow, it's solid. snow isn't... purely solid--the individual snow flakes are solid crystalline structures, but it's a collection of these tiny little solids that can move if you press them together. we can call the collection of snow, not an individual snow unit, a fluid rather than a solid. fluids do not hold their shape if you use an outside force on them. from basic chem, we have gas, liquid, solid states, so fluids encompass gas and liquids (with so many caveats but again y'all aren't signing up for intro to viscous fluids)

but let's treat snow like a very dense fluid. the entire snowboard is distributed over the snow rather than the tiny wheels of a skateboard. you can already intuitively imagine that if you put a skateboard on snow, it'd sink until the flat part. the density of matter is what affects how it can 'push back' at things. ground is super dense compared to snow, so little wheels can stand on it vs snow needing a huge distribution to push back the same weight (snow shoes).

air is much less dense than snow. with a density of 1.225 kg/m^3, let's say you weigh 50 kg (~110 freedom units). using basic ass Pressure_liquid=density*acceleration_gravity*height and Pressure_you=mass*acceleration_gravity/Area -> we want P_liquid = P_you -> solve for Area... to stay still at a height of 10 meters, you'd need a 'board' of 4.082 m^2. or about 44 sq ft. but! that board will also have a weight, so you need something bigger, and bigger,

there's nothing out there that can support you, and be lightweight enough to not outpace the pressure that air can exert back to keep you in place. so how do you stay in the air?

two ways. either hover like a helicopter, continuously moving upwards to counteract gravity... or you continuously move forward like an airplane.

=

motion time! probably heard of lift force? what you're doing is, as you move through the air, you're displacing the air molecules. think of how it feels to wade through water. the faster you go, the more water pushes back.

now up the magnitude for air since it's less dense. you need to move very fast to displace enough air such that the amount of air pushing back can actually keep you up. but! you also need to deal with that resistance against your motion, too, aka drag.

but in this case, to even keep in constant motion or zero motion, work must be expended to push you up or keep you moving forward, or you eventually slow down and fall like a paper plane

skateboard relies on normal force and friction for its movement. i count staying still as movement, too; it's just movement = 0. you push on the ground with your feet, the ground resists your sideways push, and the wheels can turn, so you move forward.

snowboard relies on something like buoyancy and gravity for its movement. the pressure of the snowboard on an area of snow keeps you up, and you slide downwards because gravity pulls you. friction is still at play but not like skateboarding; the snow is 'slippery' compared to the ground, so you can glide forward

aircraft rely on external forces for any constant motion, even motion = 0. air isn't dense enough to support things in the same way as the ground or snow.

let's get to why it matters for sword flight.

for changing directions horizontally, all three would be similar. you lean (banking) towards the direction you want to turn, relying on the force keeping you level to push you towards the turn.

for climbing or rolling up, similar--you need to push the ground, expend effort to go up a hill on snow, or provide more thrust to exceed gravity's pull to climb in altitude.

diving, rolling downhill are similar. gravity does the work.

the mechanism for slowing down or staying still, however, very different. for sword flight, it's not that you can't; it's that you cannot rely on the same intuition as for terrestrial boarding. you probably need to consciously trade between the qi-pushing you forward to needing to push you upwards, and it's always a balance. you basically need to treat your qi like a reaction control system for spacecraft, which gets into optimal control theory and of course it's not that the human can't intuitively do it. but it is DIFFERENT than skateboarding or snowboarding. you're not moving your weight around to change motion; there's this nebulous qi thing that needs to be controlled alongside the positioning of your weight to do what you want it to do.

so i think the pro-skater (pro-boarder) will have an advantage, but it's not directly equivalent.

now, if qi-powered flight was the equivalent of holding a toy plane making airplane noises to move the thing through the air, moot point. entirely not the same thing at all, they don't have an advantage in qi control. but they do have the advantage of balancing on a thing in motion.

So crackpot theory:

DBD is one of the location bits of the entities from TMA after the end of the show

Let’s start with a quick little background of what DBD and its small amount of lore is.

So dbd is basically a game where a team of four try to survive against a slasher while fulfilling certain requirements. The victims win by booting up four generators and leaving through a gate, the slasher wins by severely injuring the victims and impaling them on a hook enough times. When that happens the entity that runs things will take the dead guy away.

This leads to the lore. The whole thing is the result of an entity that feeds on fear. It combs the multiverse looking for candidates for its trials, some are chosen as killers, they are given more power and all of that, others as survivors, who are given nothing so that the killers may hunt them. It also may be possible to go from survivor to killer, but that last bit is not confirmed.

Now we get to one last detail, some of the survivors, like Leon S Kennedy, Jill Valentine, David King and Ash Williams could wipe the floor with some of the killers, like Legion (who are normal-ass teens with knives) or Amanda Young despite not being armed. The reason this doesn’t happen from a watsonian perspective is that the entity overrides volition and forces people into the rules of its game.

Now the entity sounds similar to one of the fears in TMA, terrorizing people to feed on their emotions (mostly fear and hope) by selecting avatars. It’s method of operation reminds me more of what it’s like after the apocalypse, the survivors and killers are both trapped in the entity’s realm, and selected because they would respond correctly to these trials. It also goes from world to world to take trial participants after using them as a foothold to gain power over that world hoping to slowly consume it.

If I had to guess I’d say the entity is mostly of the spider and the hunt.

The spider is because of the overriding volition factor, I don’t know whether it is manipulation or flat mind control, but for some reason the survivors can neither talk nor fight back, and the killers, even the ones that should be chatty like trickster don’t appear to talk.
