Odalia Blight/ Mama-Goodness/ Mistress Blight
Odalia Blight was one of the largest weapons dealers and distributors in both the empire society’s legal and illegal occupations. However, her love of wealth, status & power lead her to be losing her family. After too much abuse she was cut off from the blights and all associations to the business along with the end of any weapons distribution to the empire as well.
Stripped of everything and left as one of the commoners now the tyrannical woman’s life took a turn for the worse when, she found an unusual glowing green stone.
Through her own greedy created the ION Storm which not only turned her daughter into SuperWoman but created so many of the other destructive superpowered individuals.
Odalia being in close proximity of the storms blast was sent to another world entirely, Apokolips. Her scars from the previous disaster were child-play compared to what came next.
Once in Apokolips the blight was captured and put to work with all the other slaves. Endless whippings, humiliation & non-stop workings finally lead to her killing her tormentors & the ruler of this hellish world’s attention.
Darkseid released her offering the scheming, greedy, tyrant a position of power on the planet. She accepted & was put through a surgical procedure which transformed the witch’s physiology into a New God.
She now serves as Darkseid’s right hand for her cutthroat nature, cruelty and willingness to do whatever is needed for victory. As such, she holds no love or care for her old life & takes great joy in humiliating those around her rather they be friend or foe, this is made evident when she not only captured SuperWoman having tortured the heroine for days with sadistic joy/glee but made a clone as her slave just to toy with but to also punish the new gods frustrations in endless abuse.
Powers and Abilities
New God Physiology: after her show of will Darkseid had ordered the witch be made into a New God. Odalia was made into the being of genetic stability & evolutionary perfection. She is stronger, faster & smarter than Homo sapiens/witches despite their resemblance to the same. Her own powers with Oracle are now increasingly greater then before as well. Now Odalia has the following-
Immortality: Now A New God Odalia is functional immortal, her aging ceased. Unless she falls in battle, she is immune to the ravages of time, & could easily live thousands upon thousands of years.
Invulnerability
Super Strength
Super Stamina
Super Reflexes
Toxic Immunity
Oracle magic: As an oracle, Odalia's magic lets her perform tasks involving the mind and conjuring. She can use this ability to pray into the minds of her victims often psychologically torturing them to extract information. She uses this ability through her necklace as a conduit.
Foresight: Odalia can sense extrasensory thoughts, sights, and outcomes.
Telepathy: Odalia is able to communicate through thought with a person, although it appears to be limited to others wearing another conduit, as she did with her youngest daughter via their necklaces.
Spirit summoning: Odalia can summon spirits from her necklace that can attack an enemy and retrieve objects when commanded. She can also recall these spirits to her necklace as well.
Animation: Odalia can animate objects to do her bidding.
Abilities
Interrogation: Odalia is willing to use any means of achieving her goals & show her loyalty to her master. She uses various harsh means such as torture to gain information from her captives
Oratory Skills: Odalia is a skilled orator, being able to sway people into doing what she wants with ease (for most). However, should that fail her preferred method involves dominating her captive’s sprite till they are nothing but her dogs.
Hand-to-Hand Combat (Advanced): Having spent years on Apokolips she gained the skills to fight in hand to hand combat able to hold her own against powerful fighters such as Wonder Woman.
Torture: Odalia’s newly acquired skill having arrived on the planet. While she was never shy from mentally abusing any including her own family to gain power being on the harsh hellish landscape made, the cruel woman take on the self proclaimed mantle mother goodness. She takes her captives to her personal chambers which they are restrained in her many wicked devices & put through cold blooded torture for her own amusement or business, she always teases frequently told “Mamma Loves You.”
Weakness
Pride & Arrogance: While Odalia has fully embraced her new life as everything she has always wanted she is still weak in terms of teamwork due to her control freak nature.
Queen’s rod: Odalia primary weapon of choice as well as her control rod for her pets. Should they ever discover its function may turn on her one day, which is why it is kept with her at all times.
Mindblast: Her power in Oracle uses have increased so too has the backlash. Using them for an unlimited amount of time can cause herself to bleed.

OH YEAH ITS WEDNESDAY HAVE SOM WIP
~~
“Ring, contact Honor Guard Lantern Gardner,” Hal said. A green portal appeared, with a faint static appearance accompanied by the sound of dial-up. Hal frowned. They fought a lot but Guy always answered his calls.
“Is there something wrong?” Wonder Woman said. She finished taping Superman’s hand up and looked at Hal with an expression he refused to read.
“Ring, contact Lantern Stewart instead.” Hal grumbled a little but the call went through.
“Hal? What happened? Is everything alright on Earth?” John asked. He blinked, squinting past Hal to see the other superheroes behind him. “Should I be using your name?”
Hal shrugged his one good shoulder. “Eh, it’s fine. What’s going on that Guy didn’t answer me?”
John made a face and reflected the view around. Guy was sitting serenely on the surface of Mars, his eyes closed and his face being cupped by what had to be an alien of some kind.
“Is Guy getting Vulcan mind-melded while I had to get my fucking shoulder broken by goddamn Darkseid?” Hal asked.
“Mind-melded, yes. Vulcan, no.” John flipped the view back around. “We ran into the local Martian population while driving off Granny Goodness. What’s left of the population, anyway. There’s more Kryptonians left than there are Martians, Hal.”
Hal whistled. “Damn. How many?”
“Just the one, we think. They’re doing a whole… Thing.”

Having just reread Preludes and Nocturnes i kinda wonder how much of the JLI stuff will actually make it into the show like what does the dc universe outside of the endless, dr destiny, and constantine look like? do they have superheroes? presumably we’ll get the golden and silver age sandmans (sandmen?) cause a) theyre cool and b) they have plot and thematic relevance and so on and c) everyone loves putting people in the goofy 70s comic book outfits but like. what about the 4th world stuff with mr miracle? what about j’onn j’onzz the martian manhunter? how much of the extended dcu will they have (how much of the extended dcu are they allowed to have before weird shit with the lisencing of the characters comes up with WB) i’m still holding out for the j’onn from supergirl to show up (which WON’T happen but i can dream. i love him. space dad man.) but actually like... would the 4th world references confuse people? would the inclusion of a random martian dude confuse people? are they worrie about that? because obviously the route taken could be “they were in the comics so we’ll put them in the show because that’s easier than rewriting around it” but obviously they COULD go “this issue is kinda weird and out of place, what can we do to change that” basically on the one hand i want them to make a good show and i think stripping back the wider dcu stuff would help that. on the other hand my dc nerd brain wants arrowverse crossovers.

So you want to know more about Big Barda
Tumblr media
As Tumblr's resident expert on all things Barda, and as Kelly Thompson's Birds of Prey run brings far more attention to the character, I figured it was high time someone stepped in and gave the tumblr world a primer on DC's biggest and boldest heroine.
The Basics:
Introduced in Mister Miracle #4 by Jack Kirby, Big Barda was once the leader of Apokolips' premier death squad, the Female Furies. Trained from birth for a life of violence by Granny Goodness, Barda spent the first 250 years of her life as a living weapon. This all changed when she met Scott Free, a gentle Parademon-in-training with a mysterious past and a knack for escapes. Eventually, she and Scott both escaped to Earth, where they fell in love with both the Earth and each other. She's a lover, she's a fighter, she's a Pokémon card expert, but most of all, SHE BIG.
Barda's signature defining attribute is her raw strength. Her raw muscle allows her to keep up with heavy hitters like Wonder Woman. This isn't to suggest that she's a simple-minded brute, however-- Barda has centuries of military experience under her belt as leader of the Female Furies. She's mastered multiple weapons, including spears, swords, and her signature Mega-Rod.
Below are some reading recommendations for anyone interested in Big Barda:
Essential Runs:
Mister Miracle Vol. 1 #4-18 by Jack Kirby (1971-1974)
This was the run that introduced the world to Big Barda, as well as the Female Furies. If you want to know the basics of Barda, there's no better place to start. This run is collected in a trade, as well as a part in The Fourth World Omnibus Vol. 1.
(NOTE: Even though Barda doesn't appear until issue #4, I suggest you start with Issue #1. It'll help you get acquainted with the rest of the mythos.)
Justice League International #14-24 by Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis (1988-1989)
Big Barda was on the JLI! She plays off the other characters as well as ever, and a lot of what's great about her in Jack Kirby's original run is still here! Definitely check this one out if you want to see her in another team setting. This has been collected in this omnibus.
(NOTE: Once again, I recommend you start from issue #1.)
Popular Runs:
Mister Miracle Vol. 4 #1-12 by Tom King and Mitch Gerads (2017-2018)
Yeah, I know.
Listen, Tom King is a writer with... idiosyncrasies to put it nicely. The characters in the periphery of his stories tend to act really out of character, and his dialogue can be clunky at times. That being said, The Scott/Barda dynamic in this book is excellent, and this book has some of the best art that the Fourth World has seen since the 80s. The series has been collected in a trade.
(NOTE: Did you know that the CIA has over 2003 files on Tom King? Look up "Tom King CIA 2003" for more info!)
Mister Miracle: The Great Escape by Varian Johnson and Daniel Isles (2022)
If you're at all interested in the idea of a Young Adult reimagining of Mister Miracle and Big Barda's origin story with an all-black cast, this book was made for you. It's a bit heavy on the YA tropes, but the Scott/Barda dynamic is really solid. It was released as a standalone graphic novel.
Birds of Prey Vol. 5 #1-??? by Kelly Thompson and Leonardo Romero (2023-)
Admit it, this is the reason you're here. The Cassandra Cain & Big Barda is so instantly iconic, I'm surprised no writer has paired them up sooner. It also helps that this book has the single best Barda look since Jack Kirby's original run. Plus, she gets to throw down with Wonder Woman! What's not to love? This run is still ongoing, but the first 6 issues should be getting a trade pretty soon.
(NOTE: I started writing this before BOP #8 dropped, I had no idea about that thing that happens in the newest issue.)
Stories to Avoid:
Action Comics #592-593 by John Byrne (1987)
This is not a comic book-- it's an infohazard designed to cause pain and suffering to anyone who knows of its existence. Its premise is vile and disrespectful on the surface, and it becomes more insidious when you learn the context of its creation. This pair of issues is profoundly evil, rivaling even Avengers #200 in terms of loathsomeness.
For those who dare to investigate this, Content Warnings for rape, mind control, and human trafficking.
Anyway, let's end on something a bit lighter, shall we?
Remember that Mister Miracle YA graphic novel I mentioned earlier? Barda is getting a graphic novel of her own this summer! It's not out at the time of writing, but the preview pages look promising!
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed that introduction to one of my favorite superheroes ever. Please get back to me on this, I have no one else to talk to about Fourth World stuff.

I'm planning to write a DPxDC fic, though the world is ending and not even Danny nor any of the Justice League can stop this event, It's inevitable, do you perhaps have any Idea for this au?
Ooooooo. Well the answer extremely varies depending on what is causing said world ending event.
One answer that can be a very easy way to destroy earth: Darkseid. Unsure how much you know about this character but imma explain it just so those who don’t know about him can learn somethin new :).
Darkseid is DC’s version of Satan. He’s the embodiment of evil. No literally. The dude is the ruler of the 4th dimension planet Apokolips. It’s a literal hell planet. Everything is red and it has giant holes in the planet that spew out flame from the planets core. n. He cannot be killed. He is the exact same person through every single dimension. This planet wars with New Genesis who’s planets race is called the New Gods. They are locked in an eternal war.
Darkseids one goal is to destroy free will of the universe via the Anti-Life Equation. The equation has some fucking wild ass history but to sum it up simply: it’s like The Ultimate Weapon. It destroys all hope and free will of everyone in the entire universe if used. If Darkseid gets it, he wins.
Darkseid is not only OP as fuck, he’s omnipresent. He has a single consciousness that extends to every single universe. The character you see in the comics isn’t truly Darkseid. It’s an avatar of his consciousness. His avatars can die but the true Darkseid He Cannot Be Killed. I repeat literally cannot be killed. He cannot be killed the same way more than once and if he dies he always comes back eventually. He also has his Big Move that’s are his Omega Beams. If these things hit you it’s basically an instakill. In many DC wikis you can spot extremely powerful heroes by the documentation that they can survive an Omega Beam.
It’s not like it’s just Darkseid against everyone. Apokolips has a seemingly endless supply of parademons which are the infantry of Apokolypis. Other notable fighters are Granny Goodness and her Female Furies. They’re head torturers and are damn good at it too. (If u wanna see that shit up close and learn more: Miracle Man by Tom King is a truly incredible read and lets you know a lot about the Apokolips & New Genesis War. If you wanna get a read on Darkseid and how catastrophic his attacks on earth is you can also watch Justice League Dark: Apokolips War. It’s on HBOMax and a pretty damn decent movie.)
Darkseid conquers planets and repeatedly attempts to conquer earth. This fucker turned Apokolips into a hell pit and goes out to conquer other planets and terraform them with those giant flame spouts out of the planet (usually the threat of those is that Darkseid is planning to mine the Earth’s core for resources which’ll make the planet inhabitable.). He wants to do this to the entire universe until eventually literally every sentient life form is stripped of their free will. Dude is bad news.
So what if Darkseid succeeds? He conquers earth? He successfully destroyed the reality changing heros like The Spectre and so forth and the machines used to drill into Earth’s core penetrate earths core before Earth’s Heroes can stop them? The earth would well and truly be fucked.
OTHER IDEAS:
-Darkseid created Doomsday via forced evolution by yeeting a kid with spliced together Superman DNA onto Krypton until it was strong enough to slay the most powerful beings on earth. Darkseid could do the same with Danny. Fuck around with his DNA, do some funky forced evolution by yeeting a baby into the Ghost Zone until it was powerful enough to defeat even Danny.
-Is it a ghost entity that’s allpowerful? Is it Black Adam? The guy almost destroyed the entire world and the only thing stopping him was like 70 magic users all collectively casting a spell to stop him.
-Is it a natural disaster? Is there just some fuckery that causes earths axis to change and the planet gets farther from the sun and very quickly causes an ice age that causes everything to freeze?
-A silent invader of some life form that was so stealthy with its invasion that by the time the League or anyone noticed, it was already too late.
-A Virus, bacteria, or fungi that just fully wipes out the human race. Something so quick and rapidly mutating that there’s not even a chance to synthesize a cure in time.
The big question for me is what is stopping heroes with time travel from changing the timeline and reversing it. If you plan for this to be a time travel au, then why is that ONE person traveling back and not the other heroes using other ways to time travel. Why is it this attempt of time travel the one that works. Lemme list some ways that DC and DP can time travel that I know of off the top of my head.
Ghost portals (Ghost fuckery)
Clockwork (Time Fuckery)
A Dozen Speedsters (Speedforce go brr)
Superman (only sometimes tho. Dude flies around earth so fast that he reversed the rotation and goes back in time. No I am not making this up.)
Time Spheres
Abra Kadabra (Flash Villian. He’s from the 64th century and uses future tech that’s so advanced that it appears to be magic. Has a Time Machine be goes back n forth between now and his time period to collect tech)
Composite Superman (does he still exist in canon? No. Will I still mention him because he’s funny? Yes. Please for the love of god look up this man I promise you that you’ll laugh your ass off. his design is Peak Perfection.)
Booster Gold (from the 30th century. Stole tech from Hall of Heroes and Time traveled to present day for fortune and fame. He pops in and out of time sometimes and helps fix stuff. He’s a time cop.)
Hope this helps spark some ideas anon! I wish you luck on your writing!

Mister Miracle: The Great Escape by Varian Johnson and Daniel Isles. DC Graphic Novels for Young Adults, 2022. 9781779501257. 198pp. plus a short preview of the House of El graphic novel. http://www.powells.com/book/-9781779501257?partnerid=34778&p_bt
Scott Free and his friends are students at Granny Goddess's Goodness Academy on Apokolips, where they're training to become foot soldiers in Darkseid's army. Scott is a bit of an escape artist, and the only person to have ever escaped the X-Pit, a place near the planet's core full of monsters and traps. Now he's trying to help his friend and "family" and unlikely new girlfriend (the head of Granny's Female Furies) escape to Earth, where he might take up superheroing and learn who his parents are. Standing in the way are Granny, Darkseid's son Prince Kalibak, and all of the school's security features.
Even if you didn't grow up reading Jack Kirby's Fourth World / New Gods comics, you may have heard of a few of the relevant DC comics universe details about Darkseid and all in that Justice League movie. But I have to say this book probably works well enough for those who haven't grown up reading about super heroes --  it's enough to know that Scott Free is a kid trying to escape a miserable military boarding school to save his friends and go to Earth where he hopes he can enjoy life a bit. It's a fun reboot of a classic character, well written and illustrated. And there's even a little Kirby krackle in these pages if you're a fan and look for it.

Who's Who In The DC Universe #2: Beautiful Dreamer, Ben Boxer, Big Barda, Big Bear
Beautiful Dreamer by Jack Kirby & Greg Theakston
Born on New Genesis
One of the few beings who can comprehend the Anti-Life Equation
Kidnapped by Darkseid and hidden on Earth
Darkseid was forced to release Dreamer after he was confronted by Superman and the Infinity Man
Decided to remain on earth with her companions in the Forever People
The Forever People used their ability to trade places with the Infinity Man to battle Devilance
The two beings were destroyed in their fight, leaving the Forever People stranded on the planet the Infinity Man had been visiting
I haven’t read many stories featuring the Forever People. They did feature in an episode of Young Justice.
Ben Boxer by Jack Kirby & Greg Theakston
Ben is one of three survivors of a failed scientific community called Tracking Site.
The trio can absorb radiation and use it to transform into an organic metallic shell.
Ben, Steve, and Renzi have to wear modified space suits to control their radioactive body chemistry.
The three must remain in proximity to one another or they will die.
Ben and his companions wandered the earth, which had mostly been abandoned by this point.
He befriended Dr. Canius, a highly evolved canine.
Boxer and his friends later met and aided Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth, in his struggles to rebuild humanity’s shattered society.
I haven’t read any Ben Boxer or Kamandi stories. These entries remind me that I need to read more of Jack Kirby’s DC stories.
Big Barda by Jack Kirby & Greg Theakston
Barda was raised in Granny Goodness’s Orphanage on Apokolips
Barda’s fighting skills had her drafted into the Female Fury Battilion (Female Furies)
She was taken to be trained for the elite Special Powers Force, to serve under the command of Darkseid himself
Barda befriended Scott Free (Mister Miracle) and helped him escape Apokolips
She reunited with Scott on Earth after she rebelled against Darkseid’s plan to wage war on New Genesis
Scott and Barda later married.
I love Big Barda! She is easily one of my top ten favorite heroines. Strong, loyal, fierce. Barda will feature in any Mister Miracle story/series and has appeared in various New Gods comics. She has been a member of the Justice League and the Birds of Prey. She has appeared in the Batman Beyond, Superman: The Animated Series, and Justice League cartoons. She also made an appearance in Batman/Superman animated movie that featured Supergirl.
Big Bear by Jack Kirby & Greg Theakston
The eldest of the Forever People
Read Beautiful Dreamer’s entry above for the rest of his details
Same as Beautiful Dreamer, I haven’t read many of Big Bear’s stories.
All four entries in this section are creations of Jack Kirby.  Jack’s contributions to DC are underrated. Kirby’s creations greatly expanded the scope of DC’s cosmic and sci-fi storylines.
