So earlier this month Rose Leslie confirmed she’s pregnant with her second child. Vigil season 2 begins shooting in March in Scotland. Ordinarily I’d be very concerned that she isn’t returning to the series. But given she filmed most of series 1 while extremely pregnant, I’d say the Suranne Jones effect is in play and of course she’ll be filming pregnant again.

uuuugh I loved Vigil season 2 sooo much I'm obsessed with those two and their little family (I need more episodes pls)

Listen DCI Amy Silva is soo whipped for her girlfriend DI Kirsten Longacre lol. Kirsten say 'jump' she say 'how high love?', Amy's bossy and blunt with everyone, having always her way... except when it comes to Kirsten lol 😂, 'ok love, whatever you need love', i love it. But it's a good relationship, I love them. I don't know who is more stubborn of the two because it's a freaking match, but Kirsten kind of always wins it between the two lol. Man, I would be too Amy, don't worry, it's the beautiful face? it's the smartness? ...and smartass-ness lol? it's the redhead? it's the accent? it's the bluntness? it's the cheeky smile? who knows but it works 100% for me too lol.

Anyway when Kirsten was threatened by that dude and she said she had a daughter at home??? I was in a puddle 😭 Poppy is her daughter 😭 I love them so much.

I love them so much and this show, but there was a case of missing 'person' here....

Vigil *NEW UK PREMIERE SERIES*

Vigil's Suranne Jones is in a good series on the way. Vigil season two will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer on December 10. Whilst series one of Vigil was set on a Royal Navy missile submarine, series two is moving to the skies, as characters Amy Silva and Kirsten Longacre investigate the British Air Force.

The return of the crime drama, starring Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie. When a British Air Force weapons test goes disastrously wrong, DCI Amy Silva is called in to investigate and finds herself caught in the crosshairs of a fraught international incident. The Air Force thinks they have the guilty party in custody and push for Amy and DI Kirsten Longacre to close the case.

But Amy isn’t convinced.

Both Suranne Jones and Rose Leslie will reprise their roles of DCI Amy Silva and DI Kirsten Longacre respectively. Actor Gary Lewis, famed for his roles in shows such as His Dark Materials and Granite Harbour, also returns as DSU Colin Robertson. Martin Compston's character Chief Petty Officer Craig Burke was murdered on HMS Vigil during series one, so he won't appear in the second series. The new cast has two brilliant actors Romola Garai and the Scottish actor Dougray Scott.

Vigil Series Two will be made up of six 60 minute episodes. Filming for series two took place in both Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 and Morocco 🇲🇦 Just like the first series, the second series of Vigil has been written and created by Tom Edge, with episodes by Maryam Hamidi, James Smythe and Ryan O’Sullivan and Matilda Wnek, and Simon Heath and Jake Lushington, Executive Producers for World Productions.

Edited to add - I binge watched the entire series in one sitting. And not just for the wlw subplot! Though that was a very nice touch integral to the character, the kind of queer inclusion we should have all over the place. Amy Silva’s such a broken beautiful human. And DS Kristen Longacre is delightfully devoted.

Vigil is so good! If you liked The Hunt for Red October you'll love this! A crewman is found dead on a British nuclear submarine. Foul play is suspected.

The sub can't return to port for military reasons so DCI Amy Silva, (Suranne Jones on the right), is flown to the submarine to investigate. DS Kirsten Longacre, (Rose Leslie on the left), is in charge of the investigation on land.

Lots of action and twists and turns!

And Amy and Kirsten are exes. :)

I'm on the last episode now, and have thoroughly enjoyed it! It's six episodes, and has already been confirmed for a second season. If you like thrillers, action movies or mysteries I highly recommend it.

These couples… ❤️❤️❤️ the complexities of these characters and relationships, one set in 1830s Yorkshire and one set in the modern world. So much resonates with me. Fear of rejection, the blending of their different worlds, family expectations, their past relationships all seem to weigh them down and yet when they are brave enough to face them and learn from their past experiences, they are buoyed by their new loves and their ability to love themselves.

Suranne’s stellar performances are at the heart of it all. From the tough yet vulnerable Anne Lister, to the resilient, seemingly unshakable yet brittle Amy Silva still recovering from past traumas, she brings such realism to every character she plays.

Fuck! Such beautiful writing by Sally Wainwright and Tom Edge. Thank you for giving us these relationships on screen and the visibility of queer journeys.
