I like to think that if Batman and Superman met super early in their career as super-heroes, Clark would try to befriend Batman after an initial period of distrust. And then he makes small talk and talks about his life. Like oh I've had a bad day at work. It's my ma's birthday soon! ect and Bruce's just like OH MY FUCKING GOD WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU WE'VE KNOWN EACH OTHER FOR TWO YEARS WHY ARE YOU REVEALING YOUR IDENTITY

PLEASE . It's like a sitcom because clark is like Need to make small talk but can't reveal identity ( bruce knows it already clark wear a fucking mask you DU-) so hes just like making vague statements and trying to be friendly and eventually he's like well. Bat is from gotham right?? I can talk celebrity gossip with him right??

And that's how bruce becomes convinced that superman checked under his mask with x ray and is now using psychological manipulation against him.

Thinking about Bruce Wayne and Oliver Queen having been best friends since childhood, like 'it has been so long that you are basically family' sort of thing

Oliver named Bruce as someone he wanted to take in Roy if anything happened to him (and happened to Dinah, though I have heard that she apparently doesn't really like kids and if he knew that maybe he wouldn't leave Roy to her? maybe just a comment asking her to check in on him regularly?) and Bruce did the same thing, though maybe only with all the kids minus Dick (depending on if Alfred was for some reason to take in the kids, of course. Also, minus Dick is in case Oliver was on the island during that time thus Bruce couldn't maybe put him down, though he could have put it in his Will so idk)

Green Arrow being one of the few heroes that Batman will actually listen to, Green Arrow being one of the heroes who can drag Batman to the medbay, Green Arrow being one of the few heroes who isn't immediately thrown out of Gotham (and later on being allowed to patrol it once or twice while Bruce is out for the count for whatever reason)

This took longer than I expected yet I totally want to start the next one already! Decided i'ma make some DC face cards with characters I like, starting with Mers, even tho I have literally never really read or watched Aquaman media. second is back art of her card.

This is the first of two volumes that will collect King's Human Target comics. It's a  detective tale in which Christopher Chance, aka The Human Target, tries to solve his own murder. While on the job, disguised as Lex Luthor, he was poisoned. Chance will be dead in twelve days. (Not even Dr. Midnight seems able to change that.) Evidence points to the poisoner being one of the members of the somewhat ridiculous Justice League International, and it seems that Chance will meet each in turn. First up: Ice, who says she wants to help. Her ex-boyfriend, the hot-headed Green Lanter Guy Gardener, isn't happy she's hanging out with Chance, though. There are other complications as well.

This is Tom King at his best -- the story is a little dark but also goofy and nostalgic. Smallwood's art has a nice noir feel to it (think of Darwyn Cooke's Parker adaptations) despite taking place in the present.

On a slightly related note, I was happy to see that James Gunn's plan for DC's upcoming movies includes an adaptation of King's and Evely's Supergirl: World of Tomorrow series, which I'm really looking forward to seeing on the big screen.

I do love when superman is untentionally terrifying.

Like normally he knows that people are, can easily be terrified of him so like he's extremely genuine, earnest and always keeps a lid on emotions as superman. So much of superman, the posture, the kind voice, the lack of a mask is to invoke trust.

The earnestness, the kindness is fully clark kent yes, but as superman it's a tool, a way to say I'm here to help, let me. That's why he always holds back because he doesn't want people to fear him. Proably not fully intentional but it work that way

And it works! The average metropolis citizen is not afraid of superman! There's a reason he's the paragon, the big blue boy scout, a man with his power? There's no other way to be, lest he become tyranny incarnate.

Thats I love seeing when he goes all out on like someone like darkseid and it's fucking terrifying. I do love seeing him angry, not as clark kent, but as superman.

Because clark can be a person but Superman has to be a paragon, a symbol. This dichotomy is almost of the opposite of the relation between bruce wayne and batman, I feel like. I want to see more it. Kal el and clark kent are the same person but they have their differences.

The impact of it on superbat too... chefs kiss.
