Communication Error
Hero frowned. They signed with their hands as they spoke. "They don't have this on record."
Villain shrugged and signed back, "I doubt they think this is something 'important'."
"Of course it's important! There's such a huge difference between everyone thinking you're an asshole or just quiet and shy when you literally can't verbalize things." Hero abandoned their signs, hands waving in the air as they expressed their frustration.
"...I can speak."
Hero was startled. They turned to face Villain again. Their voice was so low they barely caught the words.
"I can't hear myself too well, but I can speak."
Hero blinked. "Oh. Oh. Hard of hearing, not mute?"
Villain nodded.
"Oh, I'm so sorry for assuming, then. It's still ridiculous, though! Surely they should have that on file and send someone appropriate to be your nemesis. I'm just a substitute! This shouldn't happen-" Their previous rant continued and Villain appreciated the expressive signs so they could easily nod along.

Deaf Villain #8
“I have no clue what you’re saying right now,” Villain says interrupting Hero’s interrogation. “I would’ve let you continue until you finished and made you repeat everything to an interpreter but I’m getting bored.”
“...What?”
“I can’t read lips very well, I never had a knack for it, meaning I can’t even guess what you’re saying. So why don’t you get me someone who I’ll understand? Or, better yet, you could let me go and send me a letter I can read.”

Still don't understand how anybody could look at Bakugou and Mic and go 'well, they're both loud blond prodigies, clearly they are otherwise the same type of character and have many other similarities. I bet they're even each other's favored student/teacher!'
No. No they are not

siren voiced villain who’s used to getting everything and always winning encounters a deaf hero
tw: mention of past dub-con
Villain had then up against the wall in seconds.
The hero stiffened instantly, their body thoroughly trapped against the villain’s. Those big eyes glistened into theirs, wide with fright, yet the villain was only amused by their blatant terror.
“How did someone like you end up on this side of town, hm?”
Hero said nothing, so the criminal pressed themselves flush against their body, trapping them even further against the brick. Their grip shifted up to their jaw, releasing their windpipe and pulling them closer to their face. Hero’s breathing seemed to pick up and their cheeks went a light pink colour, trying to pull away.
“You’re rather cute to look at, darling,” Villain purred, eyes flickering down to their lips. They felt tempted to run their thumb along the flesh. “Care to come home with me?”
As expected, the frightened little hero didn’t reply, so Villain took the liberty of slipping their hand into theirs, tangling their fingers together like laces. Villain moved from the wall and pulled the hero along, tilting their head to the side.
“Don’t resist now.”
In nothing short than a breath, the hero regained their composure and smacked the villain’s hand, scrambling away from them.
The action made Villain’s eyebrows shoot up in surprise. The hero shifted against the wall, itching to make a break for it, but the anger in the villain’s eyes had frozen them to the spot.
Trying again, the villain worked their powers further, lathering it on. “I said, don’t resist now.”
Hero didn’t respond.
The villain felt fustration grip their chest, turning to face the hero with a glare.
“Why isn’t it working?” They snapped, drawing closer to the hero with abrupt steps. The hero’s eyes shakily flickered about as they neared, throwing their hands up and signing:
‘You’re talking too fast, I can’t understand you.’
Villain’s lips curled into a snarl, their sharp eyes staring at the hero’s strange and frantic display.
“What’s that?” They demanded, still forcing their powers. “What are you doing?”
The hero tried again, their hands still trembling slightly. It seemed the villain was only growing more annoyed by the second, and soon they were dismissing Hero’s attempts at communication.
“I don’t understand,” the villain hissed, their brows faltering. “Why aren’t you doing as I say? Turn around.”
It was a simple, easy command. But Hero shakily raised their arms again, hands slower this time.
‘Why would I turn around?’
Villain liked pretty things and when they set their sights on something, they would always get it. Getting heroes to climb into their bed and have some fun was one of their favourite activities, and they had been more than happy to do it with this one. They should have been unable to resist the offer to come with them, but for some reason, this one had.
Villain’s eyes narrowed. Their voice was too powerful to resist. This hero was jittery, clumsy, an amateur – they had even heard them sneaking up from behind a mile away.
Hero signed something else that Villain couldn’t understand, before they deflated in embarrassment, and tapped their throat, and then their ear. The villain’s eyes widened a fraction as the realisation came crashing into them.
Oh. Hero was deaf.

Because the writers do not say it directly and fans cant acknowledge something unless it is spelled out in blood on the windows we will be seeing two violent racists tastelessly woobified and slobbing on eachother and the man they targeted and abused since childhood for months to come #enemiestolovers

Any of you guys remember Judith?
if not, then that's ok because I've pretty much rewritten them entirely lol [as you can see from this lovely interaction ~_~]
I've recently fallen head over heels for what is essentially an OC at this point. Because what you knew as Judith is now gone. Judith-from-the-bank is now a 7-foot-tall enby in a peacoat and hat who will destroy you without mercy. 7'04" if you're wanting exact measurements [not including ears] I have a whole height chart thing I'll probably put out one day [Buster is 2'11" if you're curious].
In Tone Deaf, Judith controls the entire city, not just the bank. Buster is on extremely bad terms with them, and wow, look, conflict. They're stoic, sadistic, will sell you out in a heartbeat if it's to their benefit, etc. Buster refers to them as "all business and no soul" so even he's lost all hope of getting past their walls.
I love them dearly. Definitely gonna do more art with them.

just thinking about how lucerys and aemond are really the sons that define rhaenyra and alicent as mothers; both of their eldests are kinda non-entities to them -- jace because he's perfect and aegon because he's a lost cause -- but these second boys are really their foils and their hearts and the embodiments of their worst fears: Luke, with a weak claim and a weak dragon, always shown in positions of uninvited pressure and powerlessness and while hiding behind his mother holding her hand and all the things Rhaenyra was afraid to be in Viserys' eyes; Aemond, a royal Valyrian in command of virtually unchecked power -- all the agency and authority and implicit safety that unwillingly pregnant fifteen-year-old minor noble Alicent could have only imagined, with all the cruelty and resentment that Alicent was always horrified to find in her own actions, that she fought (and prayed) to drive from her own heart; i think it makes sense so much of the audience is taken by these characters. and it's also why aemond's killing (however unintentional) of lucerys is so tragic. the strong side of alicent killed the weak side of rhaenyra. just like when alicent married her father. just like when alicent crowned aegon king

I'm watching sex education and I can't tell if the woke popular kids not even trying to sign with their deaf friend is foreshadowing them being dicks. That or the writers are lazy and greatly overestimate how effective lipreading is.

rescue rangers is a weird film. i don’t know how it got made. it’s plot is like about the dangers of bootlegging and how to ignore police procedures and break into places without warrants or probable cause. it has a weird allegory that stinky cheese is like opium and like really just took every cartoon ip and threw it under the bus for one liners. it’s not even a rescue ranger film, i feel like it could have just been a generic cartoon 4th wall film and they decided to use rescue rangers because it’s a familiar ip and like if you were a fan of it as a kid like this movie just insults the original source material and is like trying to make another edgy cartoon that would fit in with family guy and south park.
like its bad.
i feel like originally it was like RESCUE RANGERS~! but like there was no script so they took a generic buddy cop film and just took unused snl jokes. like this isn’t for kids and it isn’t for rescue rangers fans. it’s like an snl bit that went on too long and like is like what if we had an ugly sonic joke? or a lego les miserables film joke or like batman vs et? like the joke is just saying the two ips. this feels like an episode of big bang theory. like the lost potential is there. it feels like just a paycheck for samberg and mulaney

something something the villain of the season (the one about how fear can give way to extremism if you're not careful and how easy it is for many, many people to become radicalized by one person's radical hate and how genocide is a bad thing actually regardless of whether individuals of the targeted group have themselves done terrible things) being a black woman who survived an incident of indiscriminate mass murder is perhaps. not the best idea considering the themes involved
#teen wolf#tamora monroe#hollywood racism#if I could change one thing about this season it would be to cast anyone else in the role of monroe OR to not make her like that#if you want a woc who gets involved in a radical hate group yeah that can happen but not like that#it's a very tone deaf season overall which reminds me of the line from douglas in 6a where he says scott would be a good nazi youth#when a minority joins a hate group it is to double down on hating who they are because they're afraid of what it means to accept it#i.e. mixed kids being super racist because they are led to believe their non-white heritage is bad and they should try to be whiter#monroe doesn't have that. she has no connection to the supernatural. she is just afraid of the other which she refuses to understand#which would be actually interesting if monroe was a white woman who thinks she's immune to radical hate and extremism#but as a black woman who's a victim of circumstance in a random act of mass murder just for the sake of killing people#that doesn't radicalize you against where that person is from. that radicalizes you against murder.#the setup of her story is that she is essentially the survivor of a hate crime or random killing spree. which is so very relevant#that's not how it explicitly happens on the show but that is the metaphor they walked into with that one#you can't have themes where it's convenient and ignore the other implications and connotations of the rest of your work#and the implication is that they used a black woman as a primary villain (and unredeemable which is interesting bc peter exists)#as the face of the radical hate/genocide group which targets a group of mostly children simply because someone like them was bad#they're using a woc in the role of the aggressor who hates all poc because of one person from one group who did something bad#diversity win the woman of color is racist. the word of the day is 'tone deaf'#tw writers/casting department be like I don't see race and then is racist in a new and unique way

Demeter is afraid of bats so their main villian is gonna be this like. mad scientist who prolly created the spiders that bit her who is prolly experimenting on themselves to become some sort of bat creature.. like man-bat and the lizard mixed together but I don’t think this guy is in anyway sympathetic. he’s obsessed with evolution, he’s bored of humanity he’s prolly obsessed with spider-man (whichever spider-man exists in this universe is probably going to die or sumn 😭)
