----
Hellooooo hi, I'm glad you're having fun with the lot!!! I haven't written Dean & Cas in years but they will always be in my heart💖
As for recs, this is a tough one! I have a lot of bookmarks but it's been a while and my memory is spotty, plus it looks like I haven't read anything new in the last 1.5 years.
But I did a quick look-see and here's some of my fav authors that I think have a similar vibe? Or at least I'm super fond of their works: aileenrose, kototyph, cloudyjenn, violue, museaway, luchia, trinityofone. I hope you find something you like!

Hi. Okay so there’s this story I read and I thought I bookmarked it (on AO3) but apparently I didn’t and now I can’t find it. So in the story Dean has bipolar disorder or something like that and John hires Cas to take care of him because he has to leave for a business trip and I was wondering if you could help me find it? I really loved it but it wasn’t finished and I thought I had bookmarked it so I could read it later but I guess I didn’t please help me I major depressed about this
Ooooh I don’t know honestly! I’ve never read something like that. Here’s a list from my attempt at searching on AO3, but perhaps one of my followers can help?

The scars of our story
Genre: Dean/Castiel, domestic fluff with a hint of drama
Rating: PG-13
Words: 1 478
Awesome Betas: @myblackeyedboy and @kindafanfic
Summary:
"You never told me how you got those," Dean says, cheek resting on the back of Castiel's shoulder as he looks down at the scars between his omoplates. Their legs are still tangled together, their breath still a little short from what they just did, their skin sticky for more than one reason.
"Archery accident," Castiel answers, voice muffled by his pillow.
Dean laughs, lightly biting Cas' shoulder in reprimand. "You've never held a bow in your life."
Cas doesn't answer right away, he's fighting not to tense up as Dean touches the scars again. He can feel the ghost of his wings fluttering, trying to chase away the tingling fingers.

Or you can read the complete story under the cut
The sheet sticks to Castiel's sweaty back as he turns over and buries his face into his pillow. He shivers when the tip of a finger starts tracing the two lines on his back.
There is nothing, of course. Not anymore. But he can still feel them sometimes. He still goes to sleep every night imagining that Dean is sheltered beneath his wings.
"I was attacked by an eagle," he says instead.
A tap on his naked ass makes him yelp in surprise and they both laugh. Cas turns around, to avoid the touch as much as to try and change the subject. He grabs the back of Dean's neck, clashing their lips together in a kiss that doesn't last as long as he would like. He still marvels at the fact that he can do that now, at the privilege it is to be able to caress and kiss Dean whenever he wants to. He does it a lot.
"You're a terrible liar," Dean teases, bumping their noses together, affectionately.
Cas can't quite look him in the eyes, so he grabs his chin and brings him in for another kiss. It's the best diversion he's found. Sex and affection always prevail over anything else for Dean.
For this Dean, anyway.
When their lips separate, their breaths are short again, Cas can feel Dean’s renewed interest grow against his hip.
The sun is streaming through the curtains, casting Dean's face in an orange glow and making him grimace. Cas traces the lines accentuating his cheeks and his eyes. Laugh lines now. They used to be lines of stress and anguish, but now they're just laugh lines. Traces of a life well lived.
That's what anyone but Cas would believe anyway, even Dean himself.
Only Cas knows the true origin of the white scar along Dean's forehead, or why his fingers are so crooked, why his joints ache so much when he's only forty. What truly happened to him during the first four decades of his life. It's part of the same story as the scars on his own back. Part of the story that he'll never be able to tell and sometimes wishes he would forget.
"My mysterious husband," Dean says, rolling his eyes despite the caress he drapes along Cas' cheeks.
"I was stabbed by an ex," Castiel says, deadpanned.
Dean frowns with worry for all of four seconds before he scoffs. "Liar," he accuses with a smile.
"I had very ugly moles," Cas tries with a disgusted grimace.
"Liar."
"I used to have my mother's name tattooed there."
Dean moans in frustration and lets himself fall back to his side of the bed, dramatically pushing Cas' face away with one hand. Cas chuckles, lightly biting the fingers on his face until Dean takes them away.
The other man is lying on his side now, scrutinizing him with his cheek on the pillow as Castiel sits up with his back against the headboard.
"You know, you're only making me more curious by avoiding the subject," Dean warns.
"I answered the question!" Cas teasingly protests.
"Somehow, you're the person I feel like I know the best, yet you're still a mystery to me sometimes."
"I could return the compliment."
"No," Dean says, more seriously, "No you can't. You know me. Sometimes it feels like you know me better than I know myself."
Cas takes a calming breath, trying to relax his muscles and keep his face blank.
"That breath. That's when I know you're lying," Dean says, sounding a little sad.
"I didn't say anything," Castiel says, his throat so tight that the words can barely get out.
Dean stares at him, searching his face for so long that Cas is afraid that he might detect the truth under the walls he's keeping. Sometimes he wishes Dean would see it, that Dean will remember. He wishes he could have his Dean back, the Dean he first fell in love with. He knows he can't, he knows it will never happen because Dean would die if he did. Both Deans.
Castiel was lucky enough that this new Dean fell in love with him.
This Dean is devoid of darkness and of violence. This Dean knows nothing of Heaven and Hell and the wars they've fought side by side. He doesn't know the loss, the pain and impossible choices they had to make through the years.
He's not his Dean, but that's okay, because when he's by his side, he's not the old Castiel either. Sometimes he can even forget about the nightmares they've lived through and just enjoy the love he never believed they could share.
Castiel still wonders sometimes. He wonders if the old Dean, his Dean, could have ever loved him the way that this Dean does. So freely and entirely, without angst and reservations, without the weight of death and betrayals that has always haunted their relationship. He'll never know now, but still he wonders.
Castiel blinks out of his thoughts when two fingers tap his forehead. "Here they are, the mysteries," Dean teases with a cheeky grin.
He's always grinning now. Even through the darkness, Dean has always had the ability to be excited by the most simple things. Now that the darkness is gone from his life and memories, his happiness is so infectious that it sometimes invades Castiel too, making him forget, if only for a few minutes. Seconds.
"It's no mystery that I love you."
"Is that what you were thinking about?" Dean asks, searching his eyes.
"Yes," Castiel swears. Honest, in his own way.
"Then why did you look so sad?"
Castiel can feel his own smile starting to crumble, but forces it right back up. He passes the pad of his thumb over Dean's lips until they start to turn up at the corner.
"Because I was thinking of the time before I knew you."
Dean throws his head back and gives a throaty laugh with his mouth opened, green eyes twinkling and dimples showing. "You are such a fucking sap!"
Cas can't resist the long throat exposed in front of him and latches his mouth to it, rolling until he's lying on top of the other man. His smile isn't forced when Dean's legs immediately part to leave him a place between them.
"Just a sap for now, but the rest can be arranged," Cas announces, wiggling his eyebrows at the same time as his hips, making his husband laugh again.
"And still awful at flirting," Dean notes.
Cas bites the other man's chin, before trailing kisses along his jaw and toward his ear. "Good thing there’s a thing or two I'm good at, or you would have never married me."
"Yeah. Good thing you're still the best person I've ever met," Dean breathes when Cas sucks on his earlobe.
It stops Cas for a second, makes him close his eyes and takes a deep breath that can't quite pass the ball of lies that is stuck in his throat. Two years now, and he still chokes on them sometimes. Still spend sleepless nights thinking of all that he's lost.
Conflicting images flash behind his eyelids. A first meeting in a barn with literal sparks flying and as much fright as wonder in Dean's eyes. Another one in the garage Dean is now working at. Castiel only went there because he was missing him, never believing he would get to have more than a few minutes with Dean, thinking it would be their last. It ended up being a new beginning for them.
Cas is not sure which one he prefers, which story is the most beautiful. He wishes he didn't have to choose.
Dean's arms come around his shoulders, squeeze until he's as close as he possibly can be, until Castiel feels like he can breathe again. There are lies but no regrets. He loves this Dean as much as he loves old Dean. They are one and the same in all the ways that matter.
Dean's happiness is all he's ever wanted, has been the sole purpose of his life and sacrifices for more than a decade. Still is. Always will be.
"Who's the sap now?"

Beautiful Loser ~TEASER~
A/N: Here’s a little teaser to something I’ve been working on for Y E A R S now. During my edits I realized the below 500 words or so wouldn’t be making the cut so I decided to share them here as they were the first bit I ever wrote on this particular story and I’m feeling nostalgic.
After Sam fucks off to college and Dean doesn’t hear from John for going on six months, Dean takes every penny he has to his name – all the money he’s saved over the years to put Sam through college that Sam refused to take – and buys a small house out in the country. It sits on a few acres of land, cheap due to its location, and it feels more like home in a day than anywhere else ever has; even if it is missing Sam's ridiculously hulking frame loping through its halls, and the possibility of dad dropping in at any second, rambling about shit Dean never understood, or glaring at Dean with alcohol glazed eyes.
Dean doesn't have any neighbors, the closest house resting around a fourth of a mile away, and that serves him just fine. He and Sam have been living out of each other's pockets since they were kids – everything that was Dean’s was Sam’s too – it's about time Dean had some space to himself.
"What are you going to do with all the land?" Sam asks him one day. Dean's standing at the back door, staring out at the vast expanse of nothing, wondering the same thing. There's a golden tinge to everything with the sun creeping below the horizon, and it reminds Dean of when his mom would take him out to her garden to weed. She'd hum a Beatles songs and let Dean eat fresh green beans right off the plant, and they'd both go inside with mud caked fingernails and windblown smiles.
He doesn't have much of his mother anymore – a few photos, curling at the edges with age and faded just, like his memories of her – but what he does have is beautiful and dusk trimmed just like the world outside his window.
"I'm gonna plant things, Sammy." Dean says, and that is what he does.
●
It’s not as easy as that. Dean spends many sleepless nights preparing the land and reading whatever he can find on growing and maintain gardens and fruit trees, but within several months, Dean has himself a hopeful garden and the beginnings of what will be a small orchard. He puts in innumerable hours, out there in his sprawling backyard, and he feels like he can breathe again with his hands in the soil and the sun beating down on his back. Life's been a long road with his mom gone so young, and his dad getting lost in a bottle soon after and never really finding his way out, and now with Sammy off at school Dean needs someone – something – to take care of. So he takes care of his plants.
●
He gets lonely sometimes, the quiet of the small house wrapping around him, reminding him no one else is there, but then quiet can be anything one wants it to be, so Dean lets it be a balm to his life sodden nerves and eventually the suffocating feeling he gets from being alone passes.

October 22: Demon (Dean/Cas)
(Read on AO3)
“We’ve gotta stop meeting like this,” Dean says with a smirk when he pops up inside the room.
Castiel rolls his eyes and sets the bowl aside that contains the materials he used to summon the demon before him.
“I need your help.”
Dean’s eyes widen before he smirks, eyes going black before going back to green. “Oh, really? Cas, you could’ve just texted me for a booty call. You know I would’ve come immediately.” He winks, and he definitely doesn’t miss the faint blush on Cas’s cheeks as he looks down.
“I’m serious, Dean. You’re the only…”
Dean stands directly in front of Cas, his face suddenly serious, almost challenging. “Go ahead. Say it.”
With a fierce look, Cas looks back up at him, their eyes locked. “You’re the only demon I trust .”
Dean narrows her eyes. “Trust? Really, Cas? Is that what we’re calling this little arrangement? You use me.”
“You use me, too!” Cas shouts back.
“Yeah, I do, but I tell you up front. I don’t hide the fact I’m a demon. What you see is what you get, but you… all you hunters are the same.”
“Don’t lump me in with them, I’m…”
“What? Different? Yeah, okay, sure. Maybe you follow some personal code, give the people you come across a fair shot and second chances to change their ways. But when it comes to us, demons, we’re all the same, right? Why should I treat you any differently?”
Cas frowns, gaze drifting to the space on the floor between them. “I was wrong,” Cas says quietly.
“About?” Dean asks because he’s petty and even though he knows exactly what, he still wants to hear Cas say it.
“About you. About how you are. I… I shouldn’t have…” Cas trails off and slowly looks up. “I’m sorry. I thought it was a trap, that you would double cross me or something, so I tried to take preemptive measures. I shouldn’t have. I was wrong, and I’m sorry.”
Dean nods, stepping up closer to Cas. “I may be a demon, Cas, but I don’t lie. Not to you. Never to you.” He says the last part softly as he gently cups Castiel’s cheek, using his thumb to wipe away the stray tear that leaves Cas’s eye.
“I know that, now. I do,” Cas says, eyes glistening. “I’m sorry--”
“Stop apologizing, Cas. It’s in the past and your apologies do nothing now. Tell me how you’ll fix it, how you’ll make it up to me.”
Suddenly, Castiel is pulling Dean in by the back of the neck and kissing him, hard and desperate. Dean gentles it a little, pulling back slightly before kissing Castiel again.
“Well,” he says, smiling against Cas’s lips, “that’s certainly a start.”
Cas rolls his eyes. “Come on, I really did need your help,” he says, grabbing Dean’s hand and pulling him to a table on the other side of the room.

Your Hand. Please. (A Destiel Ficlet)
Dean didn’t know where he was, exactly. But he felt that deep down, he did know. The air around him felt familiar. The trees that surrounded him even had an energy that he felt that he’d experienced before. Everything seemed to be apart of him.
Dean looked around. The forest seemed almost empty except for him. The only source of light within the entire forest seemed to come from behind the hill on which he was currently standing.
Then Dean’s wandering eyes came to a shocked stop when they landed on Castiel.
He was standing there right in front of him, with his black hair sticking out in different places, with his face dirty and his blue eyes dulled.
“Cas.” Dean said, his voice sounding mysteriously raspy. “What are you doing here?”
But Castiel did not speak. Dean looked the angel over. He noticed that Castiel had his palms over his abdomen. Castiel suddenly looked sick.
“Cas. What’s wrong?” Dean asked, walking closer to Cas, so that he was stepping right into his space.
Castiel didn’t move, so Dean took Castiel’s hands from his stomach. Dean stumbled back, numb with shock, dirt kicking up behind his shoes. Castiel’s hands were covered with blood.
And that’s when the brightest blue light illuminated Castiel’s eyes, and his mouth dropped open so that the light could be unleashed from his open lips. Dean felt his stomach drop, and fear began taking over.
“Cas!” Dean screamed. “Cas, no!”
But as Dean screamed, Castiel was slowly disappearing. And soon, he was gone.
And as Castiel disappeared, so did the forest around Dean. Everything faded to black, and soon, the only noises were the sounds of Dean’s grieving screams.
————————————————————
Dean woke up in a rush, snapping up in his bed. His heart was pounding, and it was loud. He could hear the painful and heartbreaking shrieks echoing in his ears.
Castiel was suddenly next to him. He was on Dean’s bed, crawling towards him, hands reaching for him. Castiel was calling his name, so it wasn’t his screams that he was hearing.
And that’s when Dean realized that the loud noise was coming from him. He grabbed his own chest, trying to slow his heartbeat. The screaming stopped.
“Dean.” Castiel’s deep voice sobered Dean a little. “Dean, please. Calm down.”
“...Cas?” Dean said.
“It’s me.” said Castiel. “It’s me.”
Castiel was still sitting next to Dean on his bed, his hand laid on his shoulder neatly. As usual, Cas had invaded Dean’s personal space, and was very close to him. His face could almost touch Dean’s if one of them were to lean in slightly.
Castiel looked at him with almost frightened eyes. Dean stared back into them for what felt like forever, still breathing heavily, shivers running through his skin and tears threatening to fall.
“Are you alright?” Castiel asked, his voice sounding very concerned. “Dean? What do you need?”
Dean looked away from Castiel, his shoulders still lifting up and down in a heaving breathing motion.
And as if Dean had lost control of his body, his hand reached to touch Castiel’s hand resting on his shoulder.
“Just...take my hand, Cas.” said Dean, his voice low, and slightly shaking.
“Dean?” Castiel said, a hint of confusion in his voice.
“Your hand. Please.” said Dean.
Castiel looked at Dean for a small moment, his eyes darting over him rapidly. Then slowly, Castiel moved his hand from Dean’s shoulder, and clasped his hand in his.
Their palms fit together in a very perfect way that somehow seemed to calm Dean down. His heartbeat slowed, and his breaths became normal.
Dean could feel his head become slack, and he leaned it onto Castiel’s shoulder, a sigh breathing out.
Dean could feel Castiel’s shoulders rising and falling as the angel breathed, and it somehow gave Dean comfort.
It was proof that his angel was alive.

I'm getting weirdly invested in Supernatural and Destiel. Do you have any must-see fanarts or must-read fanfics for someone who hasn't watched a single episode in their life and wants to get into it? :D and if you don't mind me asking, what are your favourite Destiel tropes?
Hello! And hah, the noise got to you, did it? Unfortunately “must-see/read” is really difficult for me to narrow down in a juggernaut fandom that is twelve years old (counting from Cas’ introduction), no matter that I’d stopped gorging on the fic quite a few years ago and I can’t offer anything very new-ish. The pairing itself has changed dynamic and Cas’ characterisation altered over the years, too, so depending on when the fic was written, there can a be wide range on the types of stories being told.
Personally, I was into them because of the deliciousness of a human who thinks himself simple and “just the muscle” somehow emotionally connecting to an angel, a literal cosmic being who has been alive for millions of years and seen so much. It’s a culture clash on multiple levels, with both of them changing each other profoundly. So I tended to gravitate to fics that highlight that difference between them, like by having Dean teaching Cas about humanity, and Cas being intensely devoted to Dean in ways that Dean cannot wrap his head around. Other tropes that are also great: pining, wingfic, spicy religious flavouring (more during the Apocalypse era), epic love gestures.
Anyway, recs!
For art, I reckon the easiest way is to share my fanart tag.
As for fic, a lot of my favourites rely on canon knowledge, but I’ve picked bunch that I think are readable if you haven’t watched a single episode.
Canon-verse:
Castiel Decides to Write a Novel - thecouchcarrot (4000+ words) Exactly what the title says.
Equinox - luchia (12,000+ words) Cas time travels through Dean’s timeline.
Down Like Water - museaway (14,000+ words) Season 9, Cas is dying and Dean takes him on a road trip.
Don’t Ever Change - whelvenwings (4000+ words) Dean and Cas keep ending up on “dates”.
There are Many Things - imogenbynight (28,000+ words) Newly-human Cas and hurt/comfort.
AUs:
Happily Alone - violue (14,000+ words) Rockstar!Dean and non-rockstar!Cas.
Domesticated - kototyph (15,000+ words) Cas is still an angel, but Dean is.... well.
What the Future Holds - Niitza (67,000+ words) Dean believes he’s going to die in a year, so what does he do with the time he has?
Rvr R011435 - Ferritin4 (67,000+ words) Rom-com in NASA. This one’s archive-locked, you need an account to read it.
The Last Moonlight Serenade - gankyourdarlings (59,000+ words) WWII AU, mind the tags.
Your Heart Makes - schmerzerling (51,000+ words) A difficult romance in a Disney theme park, PLEASE mind the tags
A Song of Wind and Wings - triedunture (10,000+ words) Game of Thrones fusion.
Convenient Husbands (39,000+ words) This one’s a self-rec, magical marriage of convenience.

Some Nights
Summary:
Well, some nights, I wish that this all would end,
‘cause I could use some friends for a change.
And some nights, I'm scared you'll forget me again.
Some nights, I always win, I always win...
But I still wake up, I still see your ghost.
Oh Lord, I'm still not sure what I stand for, oh,
what do I stand for? What do I stand for?
Some nights, I don’t know anymore.
They say it’s over because they want it to be, but Dean knows the truth. It’s never over. Not really.
----
I started this fic in 2012, when I was deep in the Supernatural fandom, and I abandoned it once I graduated college and wasn't as involved in fandom anymore. But it was always calling to me, and I was inspired to finish after reading some of the DCBBs this year. So... after I six years, it's finally finished and beta-ed and I can give it to all of you! I hope it holds up. I desperately wanted this fic to be post-series and canon, and the one person I wish I could include is Mary, but I would have had to do some serious rewrites to have that make sense, so maybe next time.
Thank you to everyone who reads this; it's the fic I always wanted to write.
