When I get a chance to let my hair air dry, this is the result. It feels and looks amazing for about 24 hours, then with a little product and revitalizing I might get another day of curly goodness. I used to be able to get more days in a row with it but since I am attempting to let hair keep growing as long as possible.. it is not as easy as it used to be 😊. There are times when I miss my inverted bob style cut because when I let my curls go then, they would hold nice and tightly and look a little more playful. I know my insta account has mostly been streaming announcements and such lately. I have been keeping myself busy this winter by working hard on content creation for topics that I truly enjoy. For me it is essential to keep moving and challenging myself during the winter or I quickly slip into seasonal depression. You all are important to me and I'm grateful you care to follow me as sharing the things I work hard on is all part of the joy of it. Regarding that.. it is time to plug my YT channel as it has been slowly taking off lately. I do hope to get it eventually monetized as only YT benefits from my efforts so far. If you like retro 8 bit computing, retro gaming, and the best space sim ever (star citizen).. then my YT channel is for you. I also have my 8 years of transition in 6 minutes video out there despite the constant harassment it is bringing me. Managing all of the hateful comments is well worth the benefit I see in helping other late transitioners have hope. We won't be erased and I will always stand against the hateful bigots out there whether they are trying to write laws against us or simply being pathetic bullies in online arenas. "None of it will stick" "This too shall pass" "Focusing on it in your posts can harm others with depression" 🙄 Believe me we all already see it EVERYWHERE - I am so done with ANYONE that tries to minimize what trans people are going through right now. I am done with anyone that wants to silence our warnings for any reason. Over 300 anti trans bills introduced, wonderful people being labeled as groomers, being harassed for existing, having our livelihoods taken away, our medication taken away, our homes sold to move to safer states or communities only to have laws introduced by bigots in those communities. We are under constant attack, constant threat, violent people are being emboldened and literal f a s c i s t s have made it to the highest branches of government in the US. But no.. let's just "not worry so much." A melding of political, religious, authoritarian and racist extremists has taken a larger foothold of our country. I will not be silent about it. Yesterday my mom (pictured on the right) turned 75. I recently texted the photo of me on the left to her and she just loved my hair styled this way. I told her it was heavily teased on the top/back. She replied, "I guess that's why I love it - haha!" She has always loved big hair and still styles hers with a late 60's flair with modern twists. I tend to take after her in really loving those big hair styles. My mom is the primary source of the kind heart that I grew up with. While some in my family were very slow to accept my transition and still struggle with respecting pronouns etc.. my Mom and now mostly by her example, my Dad.. have both finally gotten it. It took 7 years of knowing this and of experiencing my transition for them to both consistently treat me as their daughter after having to grieve the feeling of loss of their first born son. They never stopped showing love and support but their struggle to think of me differently and fully accept my transition was very real and hard for them. I share all of this just to express that although it was at times brutal for me to visit them and be occasionally or regularly misgendered, and to be excluded from certain things because of other family members.. I deeply love my parents and they both have fully "come around." I still miss certain family events but I feel at peace with my parents and I sense they feel the same with me when we are together. The tension that was always there during visits as my transition commenced finally feels like a thing of the past. I hope this brings hope to those like me that are not yet in this situation. To parents of trans people.. it is okay to grieve and take time to "get it right" as long as you truly are trying and showing love consistently along the way. Yes I'm over 40. Have been for quite some time. When I talk about vintage computers or the original theatrical release of the Star Wars trilogy to people.. with first hand knowledge of what it was like at the time.. they look at me funny (this happened again this weekend). Yes, I absolutely take it as a compliment. Also, you should get a hybrid mountain/road bike. It is my only personal recommendation to find the fountain of youth. Looking younger than my years won't always be a thing.. but I do my best to stem the tide. New o. F. post and sale! I finally got to try the pool at my new place. It is amazing and even has a built in jacuzzi! I'm feeling better with no more root canal pain and managed to avoid covid again after caring for my son who dealt with it for a week and a half. My studio/office is still shaping up. I have built my new bed frame, my new closet system and am preparing a lighting setup for taking more professional pics. The move is happening soon and packing is now in full swing. I rented crates from a company rather than dealing with cardboard boxes. I HIGHLY recommend this as a smarter option for moving. No paper cuts. No fighting with folding and taping boxes. No searching for the end of a tape roll! It has been wonderful. Each crate holds a ton of stuff and they stack safely and easily. Also.. for all of my retro computing collectibles.. I have much more confidence in these sturdy crates when paired with antistatic bubble wrap. If you need to move.. you will thank me for this suggestion if it is an option in your area. Also, I am not blind to what is happening in the news. My focus is on what I have to accomplish right now.. but in general if we do not renew a major call for and vote in favor of people who support separation of church and state, this country won't be worth living in anymore. I am excited to have a new home.. and thankfully I live in a state that is not pro theocracy.. yet. ALL levels of government and all states are under threat by anti-science zealots and people who use hate as a tool.. vote vote vote and never let them win.
