I really love @jestbee's fic, heart on standby. It's brilliant and explores demi-romantic and demisexual feelings.

I guess the only inspo is real life experience. Not to get too much into it, but I once dated an asexual and extremely aromantic person for several years, so I had to learn how they showed their love in a non-traditional manner. It's like learning a new language for the both of us in terms of communication, outlook, and emotion. I love them dearly (platonic). and they're my best friend to this day.

The overwhelming majority of my friends are demi as well, so it's fascinating to hear them talk about their experiences. I like to focus on the tender, non-sexual moments in writing because of these experiences.

what do you think about dnf now with hindsight?

i think george is 💁‍♀️🧏‍♀️ and i have to side with ye old dtblr and say there was probably a one sided crush on dream on his part that dream pointedly ignored until he realized that you can capitalize off fetishizing yaoi and i think dream is straight dnf one sided accusations won

I hope video essayists and commentary channels in the future have fun discussing the ethics and intricacies of RPF, and going through all of the horribly invasive things that fans have done before, then getting to dnf only to be forced to talk about the insanity that is Dream__Fanart and the fanfiction contest and the multiple characters and accounts that Dream has created on his record-breaking SMP to be in love with c!George and ofc George who commented 'hot' on a dnf art piece and wears a normal Dream hoodie but refers to it as "Dream's hoodie" and who is currently obsessed with playing a song that was blasted into popularity by a DNF fic like good luck to them!

What advice do you have for writing a trope you're not too familiar with? Im going through the fic bingo collection and it seems like a cool concept. Do you read other fics to get a good sense?? Or research?

If I'm not familiar with a trope, or the allure of one, I try my best to understand it by asking people questions (those who are into that trope). My recent sickfic required this understanding.

For example, I read BirbWatcher's sickfic and it was a wonderful rec from @scoops404. Very hot read too! I highly recommend it. The characterization is *chef's kiss*.

I don't like studying fics though. I'll usually read a fic once to get a sense of the trope(s), so I don't risk copying or unintentionally writing prose in an inauthentic voice. My advice is to kinda read a few fics within that trope and to not be afraid to explore it in your own, unique way.

In my sickfic, the original idea was to include a hot smut scene, but as I started writing it, I realized how unsexy it was in the context of my fic. So the edging computer chair fic was born instead.

I wanted to explore intimacy in a soft setting. In real life healthy relationships, there are so many tender, non-sexual moments that show how much you care for someone (and vice versa). I wanted to explore that depth of emotion for a bit while also acknowledging the physicality and vulnerability of allowing someone to take care of you. Hopefully, that came through. :)

DNF in the vents was so strong like WTF, once george was in america my investment on them started to vanish, like "yeah the cute romance movie is over, and what a damn long movie it was", I was already not sure if all the wait was worth it bc being their fan was exhausting, then THAT happened and I dipped so fast bc I realized they were definitely slowly killing my morals and the romance movie was making me blind to that.

this is so real so much of the appeal of dnf was the longing the pining the yearning (gay people love yearning) + the fact that so much of the dnf had to be filled in by us bc it was a “behind the scenes” thing and their personalities were obviously a little bit altered when they streamed and recorded videos bc it’s still a performance to an extent and then i saw them irl and it was like. Where is the chemistry. 😭🤦‍♀️ taht first video that was released of the meet up at the dransion actually lowkey made me feel ill when dream pretended to kiss george bc it was likeeeeeee Oh okay so all of this is a silly little giggle for u guys ok good to know 😭🤦‍♀️ even at like twitchcon and stuff it wasn’t Very. what it needed to be. you know and also dream didn’t serve the blonde twinkism he NEEDED to serve to be shipped with someone as cute as george 😭 0 chemistry only half the looks 0 content dtblr 1.0 tearing itself apart every few weeks Yeahhh we were bound to implode with or without October 14th.
