You guys, I had the absolute most amazing day today. I got to meet Deedee Magno Hall (Pearl’s VA), Michaela Dietz (Amethyst’s VA), and Estelle (Garnet’s VA) and they are some of the most darling people I’ve ever had the chance to interact with. Outside of simple curtesy, they didn’t treat meeting fans like a job. Every conversation was unique and special in its own way and it was so overwhelmingly awesome, I’m not sure it’s all sank in yet.
Deedee even played my girlfriend’s ukulele and we sang in a little group together! It was so insanely cool to experience. I’m still speechless at the thought.
Anyway, here are some pics I got. Ignore my face, but look at these lovely ladies!
Also a fun little thing: Michaela called me weird for wanting to take a pic of her at her booth, and then gave me a signed headshot for free even after still awkwardly posing for my picture lol
April 2: Happy 48th Birthday to Filipino-American Actress, Singer, and Dancer Deedee Mango, who provided the voices of the characters of Pearl (our Pearl from the Crystal Gems), Blue Pearl (servant to Blue Diamond), Yellow Pearl (servant to Yellow Diamond), and Pink Pearl/Volleyball (formerly served for Pink Diamond before becoming White Pearl) on Steven Universe (2013-2019) and Steven Universe Future (2019-2020).
A computer error moves Barry into high school, forcing Kiff to follow.
Deedee Magno Hall (Cartoon Network Studios “Steven Universe” Franchise) and Tom Kenny (Disney “Wander Over Yonder”,Nickelodeon “Spongebob Squarepants” Franchise) debuts as Miss Deer Teacher and Trevor.
i love that in all the su descriptions it’s like “steven is the little brother to the gems” but at that one panel deedee is just like “no he is my child.”
You know, I want to know just how well could all the background students in Sister Act 2 sing because one of those students was a teenage DEEDEE MAGNO HALL and she had ONE LINE OF DIALOGUE!?! What other hidden gems were in that choir?
Does anyone remeber the clip of Zach Callison and Deedee Magno Hall at a con doing a scene in character as Steven and Pearl playing a video game together?
I truly think this is the best "made for media" song of the 2010's. And while anything from Phineas and Ferb is TOUGH competition, there's simply so much raw emotion in this song. I feel like I'd get emotional even if I'd never watched the show and heard this completely unaware of the context and backstory. It's so powerful and heart wrenching. Thank you, Deedee & Rebecca
