It’s that time of year where I draw my “Carol of the Bells” OC
(They are a little forest death god and their steed that love when it gets dark and everyone puts lights in their windows. So then run around with bells to celebrate)
Found a perfect muntjac buck by the side of a country road but I had no space/tools. I moved him away from the road into some bushes so the buzzards, ravens and foxes could eat safely and I could return at a later date. 7 months later I returned and luckily found all of this! I need to put more time aside for skulls again so looking forward to cleaning him up.
I saw the ribs sticking up out of the leaves first and went over to check them out then saw the skull laying a few feet away. He broke off most of one tine while in velvet but there’s still enough of it left for him to count as a 10 pointer.
[Image ID: A digital sketch-reference-thing of Buck Vernon from Vide Noir, except he's been turned into an anthropomorphic whitetail deer skeleton. He's even got cute deer ears. He holds his guitar in one skeletal hand, hollow eye sockets holding just tiny lights in them. In the top two corners are profiles of his skull; to the left, with Vide Noir dripping down his jaw, and to the right, with smoke billowing from the mouth. Another sketch shows Buck staring sadly at his emerald ring, thinking about the past or something. The whole image is tinted in dark green, and a starry background sits behind the drawings. A box in the bottom left is titled 'Buck Vernon But Weird', and lists four points: 'Whitetail deer skeleton', 'usually coughing something up', 'Blackened brain, charred lungs, and worst of all, a broken heart :(', and 'he's so sad it's like if depression had a fursona'. End ID]
here's the art from today's video, something very different from my normal subject matter - it's inspired by a display at the metaphysical store in my new building!
So today I found some deer bones and now I have a sick deer vertebrae
I want to clean it, but it feels like it could be fragile so I want to be careful. I think I might find a soft bristle toothbrush to help gently scrub dirt off, but idk what else I could/should do (this is my first time taking a bone home)
