Prompt 85
Dan is very grumpy. He’s not pouting, despite what the others would claim, he’s brooding. How many times were they going to get de-aged?! And this time they were all clones! He did not sign up for reincarnation, nor for getting turned into a literal baby.
He doesn’t care if this world has heroes or villains or whatever, he’s going to bite the next person to pick him up. Happily if it’s one of the scientists currently scrambling around as alarms go off.
Though he’ll happily do the same to the new colorful people too. Honestly he’s just feeling particularly violent, and it’s not like he can murder with his tiny baby hands. At least his so-called siblings look just as ready to attack as he does.

The ability to fly would open up a new dimension to explore (in the mathematical-physical sense—we already know Danny had opened one up in the other sense). Think of how much Danny would notice that no one else would?
Think of bees. (Not so much birds, because we see birds all the time, and also because they don't seem quite as graceful and maneuverable as bees.) When I did a search for how high bees can fly, I found something that said bees could fly higher than Mount Everest (little edit: may've misunderstood what it meant. They might not've been found flying that high after all, just that 'they could'). Bees can go anywhere they want, just for fun.
We as humans tend to (for the most part) view the world as six feet high. Anything six feet or under, we know about (or possibly up to eight feet. But it's not much higher than our height). And we don't really realize we're thinking this way.
Sure, we can look upward, we can see treetops from a distance, we can see what the sky looks like. But it's from the perspective of looking up from a distance. Our worldview is colored by looking up from six feet or less.
It's a flat surface. Despite us knowing it's not flat, we don't really internalize it as being 3D and navigable. And we also don't realize what's up there. Who would ever imagine there were bees buzzing around the top of a 200 foot tree? To get to flowers we didn't even notice were up there?
And, yeah, we have planes, but they fly in a set path and you can only look down at the very distant ground. Helicopters are probably more similar, but not many people fly or ride those.
But Danny... after the accident, he would've started out sticking close to the ground a lot, but as he started getting more comfortable with the ability to fly, his worldview probably would've changed gradually. From his preconceived idea of 'the world is six feet or less' to 'the world is spacious and easily explored and so very 3D'.
There's an episode where he's vacuuming the living room ceiling—as though he thinks his parents will notice that it's cleaner than before. And though I understand the 'I have to clean everything so I don't get in trouble' impulse better than I should, there's a chance it's partly from Danny seeing the house differently than before. The ceiling becomes just another wall for him. ...One that he might clean often when he has cleaning chores, because he's going to notice all those spiderwebs and cobwebs, and the little bugs gathering in the light fixtures.
(...He probably would realize the ground is also navigable at some point, too. Think of all the tunnels and moles and snakes and other creatures he'll see, and all the plant roots and such.)
#danny phantom#danny fenton#just some thoughts#it's not really a 'what if' idea because it just... is.#asj post#I'd looked at some red buds on a maple tree using binoculars and kinda thought aloud 'I wonder what pollinates maple flowers'.#Because I knew maples had flowers because I'd seen something about it online once. ...I hadn't really realized it before then.#And my dad said probably Honey Bees. And I was like... 'bees fly that high?'#When my dad said he guessed so; I said I've always only seen them around this high (and put my hand at shin-level).#So... that's what made me realize there's a lot I just don't realize exists. From only living in a world near my height and below.#Planted to the ground.#...There was a post I saw awhile ago about people with weird ideas. One was about an illustration showing people standing on top of#the Earth and a person had been surprised because they thought we'd lived inside the Earth.#And actually... I thought the person could've been partially right. We don't live On Top of the Earth. We live under the atmosphere.#We're stuck halfway inside it. Under the layers of atmosphere but above the solid layers. Actually we're on the teeny tiny Crust layer.#I thought it was weird because when we talk about gas giants like Jupiter and Saturn we don't measure them based on their core size.#We measure them based on the size of their atmosphere.#So yeah we actually do live inside the Earth and not on top of it.#There was also a post I saw with a closeup of Saturn. Those clouds looked so 3D and thick and invitingly explorable. They looked bottomless#my search engine had answered the bee question wrong. but I did find something that said they'd definitely found Flies over 19000 ft.'#Not as high as Everest but still really high.

Steddie spy au idea.
It wasn't supposed to go like this. They were supposed to be in and out. Grab the intel from a computer no one could ever trace them to using, keep a low profile so no one could see them, and make it believable.
But apparently believable meant pretending to be engaged to the agent that Steve didn't even want to be paired with in the first place. He worked alone, it was better that way. Only he was put in danger, only he was captured, no one else was hurt. He wouldn't say that he didn't get along with other people, Robin did, he just preferred to do things alone.
This mission was out of his wheelhouse though. Computers were never his strong suit, action was. So of course they paired him with another one of their undercover agents that was more in tune with computers. Eddie Munson. Their tech agent, Dustin Henderson, had opened a back door from them remotely, they just had to get the intel from the computer and get out.
When a worker came up and asked if they needed any help, Eddie made up the engaged bit on the spot, planting a kiss on Steve's face just to seal the deal. It was a good move, he had to admit, he just wished it had cleared with him before. Now he looked like an idiot.
Once the intel was safe on their flash drive and the encryption was complete, they made their way to the next store with a back exit they could escape through. That is when Steve spotted them.
He slides his arm around Eddie, leaning down and whispering into his ear. "Three black suits, three o'clock."
"I see them," Eddie says with a coy smile, really playing up this engaged bit. It was working, everyone around them didn't notice a thing.
Steve clocks them looking and him and Eddie out of the corner of his eye. "They've seen us."
Eddie turns to Steve. "Kiss me."
"What?"
"People get weird around public displays of affection, just kiss me."
"No I'm not going to kiss you, Mun-"
Eddie pulls him into a kiss before Steve can object. Keeping it chaste but making it look like a lot more. He takes his hands and covers Steve's checks, his own being covered by his hood and his hair.
When they pull apart, the three men are gone and they are able to continue along their way.
"See, it worked," Eddie proudly mocks as they make their way to the exit.
"Yeah, it did," Steve replies, still feeling the ghost of Eddie's lips on his own.

#genshin#genshin impact#genshin impact headcanons#this is largely aimed at people who are under the mistaken impression that any characters have a CANON age particularly the travelers#sarah miller-crews saying she was under the impression the travelers were 15 and then correcting#and saying “actually i don't know for sure that's just what i thought” has left the fandom with the mistaken idea that that is solid canon#and it most definitely is not#i find it much easier to believe the traveler is biologically 18 at the very least#largely because of that part in one of the mondstadt quests where kaeya is openly flirting with the traveler (obviously as a joke but still#he's clearly a young adult and would not at all be flirting with a teenager as a joke or otherwise#this is also why the way lisa flirts with the traveler makes me extremely uncomfortable (and i think it's intended to)#because even though i headcanon them as 19 she seems like she's in her late 20s and that's a bit much of an age gap#this is also largely aimed at one particular artist who keeps drawing neuvillette and wriothesley and making them both look like old men#it weirds me out because there's literally a line in the fontaine archon quest where paimon says wrio's younger than she expected him to be#and neuv is pretty nimble and uses the young male adult model so idk where that person got the idea that they're in like their mid 50s#calling them both “wrio” and “neuv” feels very cursed but there is unfortunately a character limit in the tags#it annoys me that the fandom is completely blind to context and just goes “medium height model equals teenager#and tall height model equals adult" because if the medium height female characters in liyue are any clue that is definitely not the case#ganyu and keqing literally work IN THE GOVERNMENT#hu tao RUNS A FUNERAL HOME#yanfei is a freaking lawyer#they would not be letting teenagers do that#heck this is the case in every nation almost#tighnari runs the whole dang forest ranger thing out in gandharva ville#cyno also literally works for the government and is like their frickin chief of police for the entire frickin country#faruzan is a licensed professor at arguably the most prestigious university in all of teyvat#layla is literally in college and as far as we know is normal college age and isn't doing advanced classes as a teenager#in inazuma ayaka runs their clan's GOVERNMENT WORK along with her brother#kokomi and gorou are literal generals in the army#heizou is a licensed detective

does Tallstar’s SE (or Tallstar in general) have any changes? Hes always been my favourite character
For Tallstar's Revenge, there's a ton of building blocks I want to keep.
(WIP Title: Tallstar's Collapse)
The story is that Heatherstar, a few years ago, started a campaign against ShadowClan for control of the Mothermouth Moorland (ShadowClan probably calls it the Mothermouth Marshland). It's a floodplain just above the carrionplace and to the east of the Moor. This war is in its early stages, but quickly escalating.
To win this, she's focusing on training more Runners. Tunneling is a defensive activity. It helps you catch more food, it makes shelters from storms, it produces the best clay that any Clan has access to. And it's not useful for conquest.
So she's killing it, slowly. Into this world, Tallkit is born.
Sandgorse and the Tunnelers, like canon, realize that Heatherstar is trying to end their ancient tradition. The more they fight her, the more justification she has for denying them apprentices. I have some sympathy for Sandgorse I intend to portray here. He's still wrong for how he treats his son, but without a young tunneller, generations of knowledge will be lost.
But Tallkit CAN'T be their savior. He's a Runner, he hates tunnels, he has no mind for types of soil or a sense of depth. Heatherstar is right behind him to encourage
So between all this, Palebird's postpartem depression, Sandgorse's disappointment, Heatherstar's pressure, and the escalating war, Tall feels suffocated. I'm planning for Jake to be one of those traveling cats, from the original book.
(Also Jake is not Firestar's father, not in a way that matters. They do not look very similar either. Chelford cats don't have a concept of fatherhood and I don't appreciate canon's implication that Jake had special Main Character Genes and Tallstar immediately liked him because he saw his ex in him :/)
Jake offers him an adventure and freedom. I don't care much for the revenge-setup of the original book honestly. If I can find something else for them to look for together, I'd prefer that-- but the point of this journey is for Talltail to experience freedom for the first time in his life.
He meets old BloodClan, he rests a week as a kittypet, he explores the farms beyond the Clans and sees how the cats live. Talltail considers what the world has to offer and where Jake can bring him, as both a lover and as a symbol of freedom.
But in the end, he misses his family, and he misses WindClan.
Talltail decides that he wants to return to the Clans. He chooses this over the life he could have had with Jake, believing that his family needs him and that this is truly where he belongs. He believes he can make it better., and in some ways he can.
But, long after this SE ends, we see that power acts through leaders just as much as they can act through power.
Anyway, that's the WIP.

the reason why i was offline for a day was bc i was in cas editing mattodore and messing with my cas bg, yeah, but also... i found another oc ask game that i liked the questions for so i started drafting theo and matthias's answers for them....... there's 100 questions this time so i've just been like this in google docs
Tumblr media
#river dipping#when theo's doc inevitably ends up passing 5k.......... let's not mention it let's simply not mention it#i'm also in spotify playing the respective mattodore playlists while hopping between their answers#i think i've just been listening to their playlists and renaissance and amir and <copingmechanism> for the last month straight#my top tracks and artists of the month rn are definitely a testament to that.....#succession season four soundtrack “action that” is also on there tho <333333333 love you kendall roy <3333333#anyway i have no idea how long it's gonna take me to finish answering these questionnaires for the both of them#but i really enjoy doing this... i said before that i've reread their last 60 questions posts so much i've started to memorize them#and i can tell it's gonna be the same for these questionnaires when i finish them like i will be pouring over them like a man possessed#whenever i finish them (bc i AM planning to spend all of my free time on them after this) i'll share them with updated character pics#so i'll have to go in game for that. i'll need to update their character pages entirely honestly they've changed so much in the last month#like physically#well not matthias....... kjfdvnkdfgjh but theo looks SO... not different exactly but like... he's evolved.#also their last character page pics are ugly kjfkvjhnkjfgh no offense to past me for trying to be cute and edit differently but lmao.#i'll redo all of the echthroi character pics too so can't wait to have 500 new gshade screenshots of the eight ocs i have for it#jackson and everett are still missing in action but it's fine. Whatever. i don't even care 🙄#<- me trying to manipulate my brain using reverse psychology so that it finally pops out a solid image of what i want them to look like

I find it great that a lot of the fandom looked at two out of time, out of place characters. Ingo and Protagonist, two characters with similar origins and have so much to relate to and thus fans agree that it is criminal and inexcusable that Gamefreak barely interact in Canon.
Everyone literally said "Screw Canon, These two are found family, train guy is dad/uncle/friend now
Love your PLA fics of that dynamic. I don't know if you're still open to prompts. You don't have to do this if you don't feel it but here's a prompt I got for you.
Explore Ingo's and Akari's relationship that develops post-game.
Many fics have them bond during the main plot but not much do post game events.
(You could touch events that occured preplot or during plot and explore how characters felt before they met)
Ohhhh interesting interesting interesting..... I think that's because most of us find it easiest to maneuver them around in-game events, and I don't think I've done too much post-gaming myself (easily distracted, started two other playthroughs)
I am definitely intrigued by this idea though. Do you mean they have their basic interaction in canon, but the further relationship develops post game? And what are we counting as post game- calming all the nobles & fighting palkia and dialga, but pre-volo? Or is Volo still part of the main playthrough?
Because I can see (rolling in the dad direction, as I do, in various directions) Ingo being distantly friendly with the protagonist (let's say Akari, as is my usual :,D sorry) He provides training at the dojo with Zisu, sees Akari there mostly, but doesn't much interact with her otherwise. I truly can't imagine him seeing her kicked out of jubilife and not doing anything- moral-wise, at least, I feel like he would say or do something. Even if he felt it wasn't his place as someone not of Jubilife, I think that he (and most of us, I would hope) would protest kicking a kid out of a safe area. It's possible he either wasn't there (returned to the Highlands for a time) or saw it happening, but didn't see Akari's face and assumed she was just going out for another mission. By the time he does hear about it, or understand what happened, and goes looking Akari has already been picked up by Volo. Ingo asks Irida if she knows where Akari can be found and Irida promises she's somewhere safe but can't say more. So until she returns, all Ingo can do is be satisfied that Akari is safe. He no longer trusts Jubilife residents as he did, especially Kamado, and spends less time there. When Akari returns having tamed the two gods, Ingo decides that maybe it's a little fucked up that this kid has done all this on her own. She's still just like 15 at most, right?
He attempts to strike up conversations at the dojo without being creepy, because some part of him is well aware how it might seem if someone of his age shows too much interest in a teenager (the very thought turns his stomach in disgust. He feels regretful that he couldn't help earlier.) but thankfully Akari likes to talk about the Pokedex, and Ingo is a walking Pokedex as well in a way. There's no one able to battle quite like him, which actually helps Akari with her research. She starts searching him out more because he never requires anything or expects anything of her, and they can talk about pokemon or item crafting or food easily. In fact, she starts going to him when she finds strange pokemon in space-time rifts because Ingo almost always finds them familiar and has something to say about them. Sometimes they'll run into each other in the highlands and Ingo will take her somewhere cool, or just take her to a neat little meadow and tell her to chill out because she's spiraling in anxiety over the work she still has to do. They end up bonding over little things and helping each other, with Ingo gradually becoming the first person Akari goes to when she has news because his enthusiasm is always genuine and a little extra but it's nice.
They bond further after Akari battles Volo and comes down from the summit looking absolutely wrecked and in tears. She's been betrayed and had what she thought was a dear, close friendship destroyed. Ingo doesn't pry as much as he wants to- he's upset that she's upset, and he wants to know what happened because this time they're friendly. He cares for her as family and wants to hurt whoever hurt her. But Akari comes first, and so he takes her to his home and lets her wallow in her misery until she can tell him what happened. He asks if she wants him to track Volo down and take care of him, but Akari denies it and says he doesn't need to act like her dad when he isn't. Which kind of makes Ingo stop and think bc... Well. He doesn't have kids. Has never had much interest in having kids. But he likes Akari, and he thinks that she could use a father figure, and he wouldnt mind filling those shoes... So he accepts her request, but he tells her then and there that he doesn't mind acting as her father (figure) because he does genuinely care for her and her well being. Which isn't something Akari was expecting and she kind of stammers... Declines... Takes off. And it hurts but Ingo lets her go. It's her decision to accept or not, and he won't force her one way or another. He appreciates their friendship too much.
Akari avoids him for a couple weeks, which sucks but Ingo stands by his decision to not push. He continues his work in the Highlands, continues training at the dojo, until one day he finds himself standing in front of the photo parlor. He's gotten a picture of himself before, but he was alone and it didn't feel right. It felt like something was missing. Someone should've been by his side, at his back. He's lost in thought until he feels the wristband of his coat get tugged on and looks to see Akari standing beside him, shifty. She apologizes for running off and avoiding him, explains that she had to think, and he accepts her apology. Says he understands, because it was something he'd gradually come to realize and that he shouldn't have sprung it on her. And Akari is clearly Not Of This Time because she gets quiet and then asks him, really fast and kind of quiet, that he meant like being her DAD and not her DADDY right, because she REALLY didn't see him like that and- and Ingo immediately says NO ABSOLUTELY NOT. Just... Dad. Acting as a caretaker. Keeping her safe. Being a place of refuge. Platonic father feelings ONLY. And Akari looks relieved, and Ingo is also relieved because he definitely doesn't see her that way and is glad she now understands that. He shudders at the thought, and she laughs at him, and Ingo pretends to glare at her and scold her but she settles in a little closer.
She looks at the building with all the photos and paintings and asks what he was up to. He explains that he was wondering if he should try getting another picture done, that he'd had one taken before but had needed to throw it away because looking at it made him feel uncomfortable. Akari asks if he thinks it has something to do with the man in white and ingo... nods, because now that she mentioned it, yes. Because the man in white is not here, and Ingo is alone. Apparently he says that out loud, and Akari's face flushes as she takes his hand and drags him inside. Because Ingo's not alone anymore, she says, because they're family. So until the man in white is back, she's going to be where he was. And they take the picture, and it's not exactly perfect... She doesn't fit like he thinks she should, and the pose is weird and not quite correct, but as he looks at the photo she handed him before going to grab some of her gear to take up to the Highlands - there's something she needs to check on, she said, and since Ingo has decided she's his responsibility obviously her DAD needs to go with her! - he feels... Better. Not fixed, but still... Complete. He's not alone. He has family now.
He tucks the photo into his coat for safe keeping, and when Akari returns to his side (she said she'd see him as her father, would she call him dad? Should he call her his daughter? They'll need to talk about it.) he smiles, and she smiles back, and for now everything will be okay. He is not part of an incomplete set anymore.
#Dad Ingo#PLA Akari#Warden Ingo#Akari#Pokemon Akari#Asked and answered#I hope this fits what the asker was looking for? I definitely have a few ideas running around in my head now for this.#Just drabbles... Just thoughts...#Maybe not complete fics but I definitely enjoy the thought workout#If post-volo is post game then I'm thinking Ingo finds Akari when she comes down from the peak...#Or he finds her on the peak bc Volo stormed off and she was terrified and exhausted#And once the worst was over she just passed out#Sneasler alerts him and he goes and picks her up. And they'd been on friendly terms before but for some reason#With an unconscious kid in his arms Ingo realizes just how young she is. And just how much she's been through.#And she hasn't been alone. Not really. But she also hasn't had really steady and solid support has she?#Her friends in jubilife had to walk on egg shells when she was just the Faller. They couldn't do anything but protest#To try and help her when she was banished. Even Irida and adaman could only do so much.#Ingo is in a gray area of Not Clan and Not Jubilife. He's low-key outside all rules isn't he?#So he decides he's going to step up. That's his friend. That's his kid now. Congratulations Akari you've been adopted#And Akari is confused at the sudden care coming from Ingo. He gives her snacks and pokeballs. Makes sure she's healthy.#She thinks it's just because he's concerned about her after finding her at the peak and her being unconscious for a while#(which is definitely part of it)#It's not until she gets scolded for doing something reckless and one of the security corps laughs#Says their mom used to do the same thing when they did something stupid. Would tell them off and then hug them.#That Akari realizes holy SHIT Ingo is a whole ass dad to her isn't he!!!#And then they have a conversation about found family and each other and Akari absolutely ends up teasing him#She's thankful ofc but buddy you really saw a kid in need and went 'is nobody going to take care of them???'#Didn't wait for an answer before saying 'fine I guess I'll do it myself'

I just realized. Your dream theory revamp means there's a wide field of options for endings outside of the dream, and I'm wildly curious about any ideas you have for that. Does Evan get to like. Grow up?? Ik you were still debating on the Bite for this, but I'm wildly curious about what things would be like if he actually got to continue on past that point.
Also, does Elizabeth still go missing?
I have. All the curiosity. Tell me anything. Or nothing. Follow ur dreams
I'm going to half-answer this in a rambling mess, okay, bear with me
So, initial idea for the au was that both Elizabeth and Charlie disappear, but I'm not exactly sure how that happens if William isn't actually a killer
Maybe it's possible that William accidentally killed Elizabeth in an ''abuse gone too far'' moment and covered it up afterward. Or there's some other killer or kidnapper who got their hands on Liz and Charlie. Or Liz and Charlie ran off together and got hurt and lost in the woods and never came back.
Orrrr, I was also thinking that it'd be nice to have an au where Mrs. Afton, aka Francine, is actually alive. So maybe William and Francine were going to get a divorce because William is an abusive piece of shit, okay, and William tries taking the kids and running because he REFUSES to loose everything that he had (all the "property" he owned) but he only manages to get away with Mike and Evan. So maybe in this version, instead of kids spreading rumors about how Elizabeth died, William and/or Mike is the one doing that to make Evan stop asking questions about Liz. William would have to leave Fazbear Entertainment behind to avoid jailtime for, yk, kidnapping though, so this version probably wouldn't work.
Or it's possible that Francine was the one to try taking the kids and leaving to keep them safe, but she's only able to save Liz for some reason. That way William is still part of Fazbear Entertainment, and anger and grief over the divorce/Francine running would further William's abuse of the boys; William could try pushing the idea that Elizabeth is "missing" around town rather than admit that his wife ran off with her, and kids around town still spread rumors about animatronics being responsible for Liz's "death." Maybe Charlie still goes missing, maybe not.
But either way, I think "Evan eventually grows up to reconnect with his mother and lost sister" makes for a good ending, especially if we squeeze Mike in there for the happy ending. Though ofc a lot of effort would have to be put into their relationship for Mike and Evan to get to that point, not to mention Mike and Evan having to get over the trauma of being left behind by Francine, whether she wanted that to happen or not.
If Mike does try killing himself at some point in the au, and esp if Evan is the one to find him, i can see Evan still growing up to be a doctor (probably pediatrics specifically) in the au, maybe; Evan wasn't the one in danger but the doctors and paramedics were all super nice to Evan when he had to call for help, when they showed up, and during stays in the hospital waiting room to see what Mike's fate would be. Evan obviously isn't very used to kindness, so their kindness would mean a lot to him.
It does admittedly feel weird to think about Evan growing up in this au tho, and I'm tempted to kill him off before he gets to that point for any other ending besides the "grow up and reconnect with his mother and sister" ending.

I have! It's been a while, but I remember it being good. I liked how the stuff with Liam makes the line "why would someone sacrifice everything for their dumb sibling" hit hard, and I remember the vindictive fury of the scene where he destroys his dimension being very well written.
For whatever reason, it didn't make me interested in flatland as a concept. I think I was a little bit lost when it came to what the world itself was like, apart from how shitty the society was.
My takeaway from the fic was "that was a really well done backstory fic!" but not "ohhh man I am Changed Forever", which might partly be because I was not invested in Bill as a character at the time.
Also, this is just a matter of personal taste, but I didn't like the idea of Bill getting his powers from a time wish. It's a clever use of pre-existing concepts in the show, I just didn't find it all that interesting of a concept.
