Hey, you're being lied to about what fitness constitutes. If you can't work in an hour-long crossfit slog, but you can work in a five-minute walk, then that is still fitness. If you can't use your legs but you can do arm circles every now and again, that is still fitness. If you're moving around at work, that's still fitness. It can be intentional or incidental, but here's the best part: your body doesn't care if you're dedicating specific work-out times. It doesn't care if the "only" fitness it gets is your nine to five on your feet. It doesn't care, fitness is fitness is fitness. Some of us do it differently, but the end result is more or less similar.
If you can do any type of fitness safely, your body isn't going to care if you're doing it like an Olympic athlete or if you're just a casual.

not going to lie, the scene that worked the most for me in Polite Society (2023) is after the younger sister has broken Evil's nefarious hold on her older sister---she's driving them both away afterwards, giddy with triumph and talking about how sure, big sister has dropped out of art school but she has all these plans to help with her sister's next step, and---
and, mildly, big sister says: I need to think about it first.
she very quickly reroutes the conversation into fries, their togetherness, and younger sister's own goals, but I liked that moment. Where it's acknowledged even briefly that big sister is not 100% liberated by the defeat of her splashy, action film enemies; that actually, her doubts and concerns are personal and have nothing to do with her mother's plans or her sister's projections or even her boyfriend-slash-fiancee-slash-worse.
Again, not a huge moment, it's not the point of the film really; I liked it very much anyway.

I’m curious, do you think refusing to raise kids is an inherent part of rejecting conventional family structures? I never particularly thought about utena & anthy as adults because of the open-ended way the show ends, but I definitely like the idea that they just don’t want/wouldn’t be fulfilled by raising children. Since that’s such a huge expectation for AFAB people. But also many people want/will keep having children, so I guess I’m curious about your thoughts on how young people relate to family abolition in general. Since this would means more freeing ways that utena & anthy themselves could have grown up. I’m not really sure how to phrase it, hopefully I’m getting myself across.
i don't think raising kids in general is something that inherently feeds into patriarchal or otherwise oppressive structures, but the expectation that it's something everybody should do and that the only/right way to do it is within the structure of a nuclear family is harmful. the pressure put on people by their own parents and society in general leads to people having kids before they're ready or without really wanting them, which obviously leads to bad parenting (even from people who have good intentions.) but of course there are always going to be kids who need to be raised and there will always be people who genuinely want to do that, so it's important that we explore ways to do it that are less likely to lead to abuse or kids feeling isolated, etc. i think the most important thing is probably to expand the number of people (especially adults) that kids can trust, and to get rid of the idea that immediate family is something that has to be more important than anything else and that they're people you always have to love and forgive. kids need to know that you don't have to stay with someone who hurts you and they need to have healthy alternatives
i need to read more actual theory on family abolitionism, since this is still kind of a new topic for me, so take whatever i say about it with a grain of salt. these are just my thoughts immediately after waking up so they may not be the most profound or coherent

Do you have any recs for video games for semi beginners?? You’ve talked about a few different games so I’m curious about your thoughts, I’ve played like maybe 2 rpgs and I’d love to try more! But I’m scared of them being too difficult or confusing lmao
OH HELLO DEAR !!! 😊🩷✨️ I WOULD LOVE TO TALK ABOUT VIDEO GAMES WITH YOU !!!!
tbh it all depends on a few things !! like what kind of game you're looking for, something slow and relaxing or a bit more adventurous ?? and are you limited to a console or do you have a pc ??
i saw your other ask about skyrim and — yes !! i think skyrim is a good beginner rpg !! there's a lot of combat, but it's pretty standard and easy to get the hang of ! there's a lot of lore to dive into and has an open world ! so you can do as much exploring as you want ! the game in the elder scrolls series before skyrim, oblivion, is also really good, too ! a bit older so not as pretty, but i love that game !!
as far as something a little more relaxing, i would recommend animal crossing or stardew valley or even the sims !! i'm playing the new pikmin right now too and it's very fun 🥺🌱
some of my other favorite rpg's are a little bit older LOL but dragon age: origins (inquisition is the newer one !), kingdoms of amalur, any legend of zelda game (my favorites would be wind waker, twilight princess, + breath of the wild), genshin impact has been really fun for me !!, both the mass effect and fallout series are shooters, so the mechanics are different, but also easy to use once you get the hang of them !
and stay away from any fromsoftware games LOL they will chew you up and spit you out, even if the lore is so good 😫

I need everyone to watch Rainbow Prince. Is it good? No. Is it enjoyable? Immensely.
But I was having a lousy day and just a general bad brain day and I’ve been listening to the soundtrack and it has significantly improved my day. So if you like cheesy musicals and aren’t looking for something groundbreaking but is still just a lot of fun, watch Rainbow Prince.

This is self indulgent but I really love Tim and Kirk's (however brief) interactions in the canon that I've been able to read so 💭 + Kirk and Tim's interactions/relationship to each other?
𝓗𝓮𝓪𝓭𝓬𝓪𝓷𝓸𝓷𝓼 — send 💭 + a topic to receive a headcanon about said topic.
Kirk owes a lot to the Bat Family but from those interactions you've brought to attention, it's easy to agree that the relationship between Kirk and Tim is by far the most positive of them all and it's funny because even though they are brief, they've had significant impact on how Kirk views Tim! He definitely has a soft spot for the younger man; out of all the Robins, Tim has by far been the most willing to protect Kirk and his family, not just from himself but any others who would seek to harm or exploit him and his loved ones.
That's not to say Batman and the others haven't helped tremendously. They have, but Tim's gone above and beyond each and every time they've crossed paths and Kirk would be a liar if he wasn't profoundly grateful to the youth. Tim even saved him from drowning once, which he still remembers despite how foggy his memory was at the time after spending an extended time as Man-Bat and suffice to say, he's the only member of the Bat Family that Kirk's listened to as Man-Bat.
One more thing that Kirk likes about Tim? He's a gifted boy, intellectually years above his peers. As a scientist himself, I feel that Kirk could relate to Tim on that front. It doesn't matter whether or not he's the strongest, most skilled acrobat or ruthlessly efficient, Tim's got a heart of gold as far as Kirk's concerned and would protect him as readily as if he was his own child.

Do you know anything about brazillian folklore? And if not, may I infodump?
I would say I know a little about Brazillian folklore. Mostly creatures, and only very basic knowledge: iara, curupira, the shapeshifting pink dolphin, the headless mule, lobisomen...that's pretty much it!
So yes, please share your knowledge! I'd love to read it!

Here is another manga that I've read and really enjoyed recently. I forgot to post about it last week, but I got reminded to do so when I just found out that it's ending soon??? The unofficial translation goes to ch 85 (3 months ago), and the translator for it said it's ending around ch 95. It feels so early because the main characters and their friends entered college recently and it feels like it still has a lot of ground to cover??
Anyway, this manga is called "Last karte -Houjuuigakusha Touma Kenshou no Kioku-" which is roughly Last Medical Record -Memory of Forensic Vetrinarian Kensho Toma-. A description taken from MangaUpdates:
Kensho Toma is an ordinary high school student. One day, he comes across a large number of crows in the park that have died an unnatural death and ends up becoming a veterinarian trainee alongside one of his classmates after becoming involved in the investigation.
CW: animal death
