Bidet! The "galaxy brain op" comment for the tiefling De Rolo kiddo made me hesitate, so- those are the official portraits for the C1 characters in the new Tal'dorei Reborn campaign book! It's confirmed!! Sorry if you already knew this and I misunderstood your comment!

I had no idea! I didn't get the digital copy of the reborn book and haven't had a chance to buy the physical version. Still, absolutely brilliant and galaxy brain take by Lauran and Tal that their characters would have a Tiefling child. They had so many interactions with devils and demons, and Percy straight up signed a contract with a devil.

I know a fair amount of CS shippers who don’t ship K*ramel. But from what I’ve observed, I think a lot of the vocal anti K*ramel fans in the tags and on twitter are S*percorp shippers who are just salty that their ship isn’t canon. And I actually like S*percorp, but I’ve noticed a good amount of their shippers also ship $Q, so naturally they don’t like CS and are making bullshit comparisons. I think there are plenty of reasons not to like K*ramel and I agree that S*percorp would be a MUCH better ship, but I just hate going in the tags expecting to see gifs or metas and instead I see people hating on my fave ship that has absolutely nothing to do with the show. I avoid most OUAT tags for that reason, I don’t want to have to avoid tags for an entirely different show for the same thing. It’s exhausting.

Okay, this is extremely belated but thanks @lizlensky for tagging me!

1. Favorite book of all time?

Probably A Wizard of Earthsea, I think. It was the first time I realized you could still write stories in an epic register, and I love the world LeGuin built, all the boats and islands and magic, and how human the plot is. The Afterword, too, made me really reconsider everything I thought about fantasy novels, in pointing out who obsessed with war and conflict and apocalypse the whole genre often is - and how it doesn’t need to be. (Or maybe it should be the Tombs of Atuan...)

2. Favorite fictional friendship or familial relationship (can be any kind of family dynamic)?

Hmmm ‘friendship’ is maybe not the right word, but whatever the relationship between Sam Vimes and Havelock Vetinari (of Discworld) is properly called, it’s fantastic. Begrudging mutual respect! Obedient disobedience to the local tyrant! The sheer mind-screw that is Vetinari saying he created Vimes, and Vimes literally time-travelling and accidentally creating Vetinari. (I love Discworld so much).

3. Favorite trope?

I’m not sure how to word this, but ‘dramatic irony when it isn’t tragic?’ Like, the bit in The Martian (the book) where everyone at NASA is worrying about Mark Watney, and on the next page we find that Mark is contemplating Aquaman’s power to talk to whales and dolphins. Or whenever we get to see a villain threaten a hero out of the assumption that they’re small and unassuming, and get immediately proven wrong (think every person who ever interacts with Toph in Avatar).

4. A character from a book/series you feel the most like?

I don’t really have an answer for this one. When I was 18 or 19 and in a bad place I’d have totally said Hamlet, but now... I don’t know. Maybe Tiffany Aching, honestly - trying to turn my own stubbornness and anger to good ends.

5. A pet from a book or series you would most like to have?

Not properly from a book, it’s from D&D, but I would like a pseudodragon. Imagine having a tiny dragon the size of a cat that just, like, hangs out with you! That’d be fantastic!

6. A place from a book or a series you would like to hang out?

My first thought is Ankh-Morpork but that would end very badly for me. Redwall Abbey, maybe? I used to daydream about the feasts there, when I was a kid.

7. A series or author you’re willing to give another chance?

I’m a stubborn but unforgiving reader; if I’ve actually decided I don’t like an author’s works *cough*JamesPatterson’syoungadultfiction*cough* then I really can’t envision changing my mind.

Okay, but - Neil Gaiman, I guess? I didn’t like Stardust as much as I expected, but I loved The Graveyard Book, so maybe I’ll actually read Neverwhere sometime soon.

8. And the book you have liked the most so far this year?

The Night Watch! Sam Vimes is fantastic, and it scratches the itch for a revolution that actually goes well.
