So, my account was wrongly terminated

I was editing too many posts (for formatting issues) apparently, and my account got wrongly terminated yesterday.

I sent an inquiry that I received no reply to, but it seems my account has been restored.

Tumblr seems to be cracking down on bots so I suppose this is a warning to not edit/post too many posts in a short time.

Very relieved my account has been restored.

Een vriend heeft je verzameling met mij gedeeld. Ik wil je alleen maar bedanken! Ik geniet vooral van de naaipatronen uit het midden van de 19e eeuw. Maar ik geniet echt van alles, want borduren en andere dingen zijn ook leuk.

Sorry voor de hele late reactie, maar bedankt voor je lieve berichtje!

Ik zag dat je een aantal replies op posts had achtergelaten, maar daar kan ik niet direct op reageren omdat dit een secundair account is. Daarom laat ik even via deze weg weten dat wanneer er geen afbeelding of patroon bij een post geplaatst is, dat dat zo is omdat deze ontbreekt. Zo zijn bijvoorbeeld bijna alle modeplaten kwijt omdat deze los bijgevoegd waren.

In de tags kun je dit snel zien omdat deze posts getagd zijn met 'incomplete' of iets dergelijks.

Wat is een zesvoudige steek bij haken?

Hoi, ik weet natuurlijk niet over welk patroon het gaat- maar ik denk dat je een zesvoudig stokje bedoeld.

Bij een gewoon stokje sla je één keer om, bij een dubbel stokje twee, en dan bij een zesvoudig stokje dus zes keer omslaan. Het werkt hetzelfde als bij een (dubbel) stokje maar dan dus vaker omslaan.

Ik hoop dat je het zo snapt, zo niet kan je altijd nog een berichtje sturen. :)

I got a comment today about how crazy the 19th centry patterns were, and comments like this always confuse/amuse me a little. Is this a Dutch thing? A European thing? Just something most people never see because they only every use patterns meant for one garment? Just curious, because even today, patterns like this are very standard if you use (Dutch) sewing magazines that will contain up to 20-25 garments. So I was never really shocked when I saw the 19th century pattern pages, just super exited that they existed and that they looked exactly like the modern ones do, just sans the color. In my opinion de modern ones get even crazier because they almost always contain multiple sizes for every piece!

Well, I'm not doing great... but I'm not sick yet so, yay? How is everyone else holding up? I'm very bored and anxious and in need of distractions, but I hate all the projects I still have laying around. Only 16.5 more of these to go I guess, I hate crocheting chains and old patterns are full of them... My tension is always really tight so I struggle with getting things to lay flat. This pattern is horrible since it ruffles like crazy until the last two rounds and then it still needs convincing. Anyway, I feel bad. I hate this pattern. Rant over. I'll delete this later, this isn't a personal blog haha.

A quick apology for the still broken 'read more' cuts. They don't work for me, so I'm assuming everyone else is suffering with me and seeing my posts clutter up your dashboard. I messaged Tumblr. They don't know what's broken. The team will look into it. The last time I got this as an answer it took months before it was fixed. I'm so intrigued by the patterns on this blog! Did you scan them yourself or are you working from an archive? Have you tried to make any yet? Thank you for sharing!

I don’t actually scans these pages myself, if I could I would definitely get some better scans for the pattern pages. These are all posted online by a Dutch organisation called “Het Geheugen”, they work with different museums, libraries and archives in the Netherlands.On the links page there’s a link the will directly lead to the archive page of this particular magazine, and a link to an archive of the German magazine it is translated from.I’ve tried some things with taping patterns pieces together to see the shape of a garment, and I’ve made one of the corset patterns but scaled down to test some things out (I never shared this on here, I feel pretty self-conscious when I see what other people in the costuming community are putting out there- Plus I don’t want to clutter this blog with too many personal posts?). In the future I’d love to dive into this more!Thanks for asking!

I just want to share what the scans I'm working with right now look like. Just glad I'm a native speaker and can guess words by the shape/length. Messing with contrast helps, but man- Also just general frustration in my personal life, but that's not with this tumblr is about/for. Will delete later, just venting. Why is everything being difficult right now lol.

How big are the actual supplement sheets? preferably in inches or cm, thank you.

The problem with actual size is that not all of them were the same. However, some pages did have markings on them to indicate size in cm’s. I will link to an old ask in Dutch, that was about supplement size HERE. The only other way to try and figure out the correct size is trying to find if one of the patterns on that particular sheet has any indication of how large one of the pattern pieces is, which most of the time isn’t mentioned at all and is wonky at best.
