prom night and the days that follow
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he was leaving.
me, this town, us. the thoughts of all the time we’ve spent together fills me with the feeling of sadness. but he has to do this. i know it’s for a good cause because without this bonnie could be exposed for her magic and the rest of the town goes down with her. i know we can’t let that happen but i can’t bare the thought of losing him as he goes to battle with those sirens. those evil souls that rid me of my one true love, but i haven’t told him that just yet.
we’ve been friends for a while and realizing i liked him wasn’t easy. but coming to the realization that i loved him was even more difficult. i’ve never loved anyone before. yeah, i dated matt but he was mostly a teenage fling and for stefan was nice and all but i had to break it off once i started liking his brother. i have the respect to at least do that.
prom is coming up in my high school and it’s important i go because to be completely overly honest i haven’t participated in many of the senior activities at mystic falls high school. but the only person i want to go with is damon and i just need the balls to confess and finally spend time with him before he leaves and risks his life so selflessly.
i sigh and get the random urge of confidence that i need: now the only thing left to do, confess.
i know he’s in his room right now packing his things for his trip. or less of a trip and more of a drive down to hell. mostly my hell. he doesn’t seem very scared, mostly confident which confuses me but it’s damon and he’s most likely hiding how he feels. i know him too well for someone that isn’t even dating him. that and the fact that i dated his brother.
i walk up to the wooden, dark tanned door and prepare myself to knock. but before i could do so the door swings open and surprises me so much i jump. damon laughs and invites me in.
“you know, it’s not very smart to try and sneak up on a vampire. you know they have super hearing abilities”
“okay smart guy.” i take a breath and he notices the look on my face. probably the adrenaline rush of what i’m about to say.
“is everything okay? you seem a bit nervous” he says looking me up and down and making sure i don’t make any sudden movements like faint or
throw up on him. he’s funny like that. i like that he notices things about me before i even notice them myself. maybe it’s because he’s a vampire and have come accustomed to reading people’s emotions or the common human traits, but nevertheless stephen wasn’t like this. and i felt comfortable around damon, i feel like i can tell him anything.
another breath and i sit down on the bed as casually as possible. “i want you to take me to my prom”
“are you asking or demanding?” he jokes and i laugh but i’m embarrassed at the way i said that and almost back out and say it was a joke.
before i can respond, he says, “i would love to take you to prom, but i must ask, why do you want to go with me? i mean stefan would’ve probably been a better candidate, don’t you think?”
i want to confess now but the words seem to almost refuse to leave my mouth. “well.. since you’re leaving for a while, i just thought it would be nice to spend time together, you know? just a friendly little hang out and you can act like a teenager for a day.” before he can respond i add, “and we don’t have to dance or any of that stuff. we could just sit and talk and enjoy the music and punch”
“okay, elena. i will go to prom with you” he says calmly in almost a reassuring way that he actually would enjoy going with me, which almost makes me blush but i can’t do so without blowing my cover.
“thank you. i anticipate we will have a great time”
i turn to leave his room before he says “what’s the theme”
“winter wonderland”. and as corny as it sounds i know caroline put a lot of time and energy into planning it. so either way i know it’s going to be beautiful and turn out amazing, like always.
i finally can breathe normally again once i get outside to the fresh, cool air. i’ve never been so excited and nervous at the same time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
the day finally rolls around and i’m getting ready for the evening of a lifetime. i put on a white gown with blue bows in my hair and draw little snowflakes on my cheeks with eyeliner. i love getting dressed up but i’m most comfortable in my usually jeans and a cami top.
i walk over to the salvatore home and knock three times, per usual. i hear the footsteps as they step toward the door. the creaking of the door following quickly after.
“come on in”
“don’t mind if i do” i respond and walk inside, carefully, as to not to fall with these heels.
“you look beautiful. here, i got you this white corsage to go with your dress. sorry if it’s not what you were expecting”. he looks down at it as if i would hate it.
“i love it, damon. you’re so sweet”. this compliment repeats over and over in my head and i let myself blush this time around.
i think he notices since he grabs my hand and puts the corsage on, so carefully.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he opens the car door for me and i get in. he shuts it and walks over to the driver’s seat as my cheeks get rosier and i internally scream out of excitement.
we buckle in for the short ride to the high school. i can’t believe i’m graduating already, seems too good to be true.
we make it to the prom and just as i thought, the place was so wonderfully decorated. i know caroline and she’s always been amazing at these sort of things. always pays the closest attention to detail.
the palms of my hand get sweaty and i’m nervous he will notice as he grabs my hand and interlocks our fingers.
i giggle as i say “thank you for coming with me”
the parking lot of the school is empty as we came a bit earlier to help set up, although caroline barely needed any. i need to tell him.
“i have to tell you something. it’s embarrassing and stupid but i feel like i need to.”
damon makes eye contact with me and then looks at our hands. “i know. and i feel the same way”
i blush and hug him. so tight that he acts like he’s being suffocated and i roll my eyes as i let go.
“you’re so dramatic”. i continue, “so what does this mean exactly?”
damon takes a step forward, separating the space that was once there. the grand my face so gently and pulls me in my lips to his. i feel his soft touch against me and let out a giggle once we depart.
i giggle but can’t muster any words for a while after.
“i do like you, elena. but i mustn’t forget that i’m leaving and can’t be distracted from the things i must be the upmost focused on.
i feel my face turn into a frown and sadness sets in before i completely shut down and can’t seem to say anything more.
“i know. but it’s the sad truth. i must wait to know if i will survive this and be able to come back to this small town. i want to live the rest of your life with you and devote myself to this eternal happiness but you must understand my motive here.
“i do.” i let out a cry and he holds me in a hug for a while. he lets go and i see tears form in his eyes.
“but that doesn’t mean we can’t spend the night together. we’ll have the best time and we’ll dance and drink punch. we’ll talk and we can put this on hold. but don’t wait for me. if you fall in love with another while i’m gone i will understand.”
“love?”
“yes, love”.
“do you love.. me?”
“yes, my love. of course i do. you’re the only girl i’ve ever loved and will ever love. i’ll live an eternity of you in my thoughts and my heart.”
“i love you”
“i love you too. forever and always”

Chapter 1
It was just another day at the Salvatore Mansion, Elena's new home for the past few months. Her wheelchair made it easier for her to move around than in her childhood home. Damon's room was spacious enough to accommodate her every need, and the mansion had plenty of open space and wide doors. All they had to do was install a shower chair and a stair lift.
It wasn't like it happened without her protest. After all, she didn't want to inconvenience the family by buying things they didn't need just because she was disabled. Damon, on the other hand, repeatedly assured her that he would do anything for her if it meant she could live comfortably in the mansion. The statement always makes her smile bitterly. Since the accident almost a year ago, her condition has never been truly comfortable. But she is determined to live a normal life in a wheelchair and will not give up.
However, her existence was not without complications. Her constant battle with pressure sores, muscle spasms, and the risk of autonomic dysreflexia is now an almost daily occurrence in her life. Not to mention other embarrassing functions of her body that no longer function as they did prior to the accident.
When she first met Damon Salvatore, her first thought was that he was way out of her league, that he would never look at her as a capable woman. That he would never look her in the eyes with love.
They weren't strangers; Damon and his brother, Stefan, attended the same high school before moving to Europe for university. Elena stayed in their small town, aspiring to be a mystery writer. She never had grand plans to change the world; instead, she wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps and do what she loved most: write.
She was doing well; she had completed the first draft of a novel when the car accident occurred; a drunk driver hit her on her way home. The doctors told her she was lucky to be alive, but after learning about her permanent injury, she questioned her good fortune. She was in the hospital for months, followed by rehab and physiotherapy. She had no idea what her physiotherapist was trying to accomplish - it was obvious she would never be able to walk again. She later discovered that these exercises were designed to keep the muscles in her legs from atrophying.
As a result, she stopped writing entirely. She just didn't feel like putting words together when her life was falling apart.
She had to discover for herself what her new condition entailed on a daily basis. The issues with her bodily functions, specifically bladder and bowel management, were her least favorite aspect of her hospital stay. The doctors told her she wouldn't be able to control any of them, that even emptying her bladder or bowels required outside assistance. Even though the nurses tried to get her on a bowel program schedule, she was constantly fighting incontinence. In the end, she had to wear adult diapers to keep the mess at bay.
Jenna, her aunt, moved in with her after she was released and returned home to assist her and make her life easier. The house was not wheelchair accessible, and they did not have the funds to install a lift.
Then she ran into Damon at the hospital while she was waiting for her doctor's regular check-up.
He was in the waiting room as well, his arm bandaged and bleeding. They recognized each other and began talking as if the previous few years had not occurred and they were back in high school. She discovered he was studying economics in Europe, but he had no desire to follow in their father's footsteps as a businessman. He was always more of a techie, having learned software development on his own while supposed to be attending classes at university. He later decided to drop out and start his own IT firm. He returned to Mystic Falls and settled in the mansion, where his mother often visits. Stefan, on the other hand, could not abandon their father and continued his studies, eventually becoming a partner in Giuseppe's firm in Italy.
They were so engrossed in their conversation that they almost didn't notice the doctors calling their names. Elena felt Damon's gaze on her as she wheeled away, and she felt self-conscious as she entered the doctor's office for her check-up. When she went outside, she discovered Damon had waited for her. That day, he asked her out.
She was shocked and stunned, but she gladly accepted.
They've been together since then.
Elena was wondering how much Damon knew about her condition and what it entailed by the time they were on their fifth or sixth date. He admitted that he had never met anyone in a wheelchair, but he had learned about her condition on the internet. She was embarrassed yet again because she didn't know what Damon had discovered. She tried to explain everything, but didn't want to scare him away with the specifics. On the other hand, she felt he had a right to know everything before embarking on a serious relationship with her.
That was her most humiliating conversation to date. But Damon surprised her yet again; he took it all in stride, and she never saw disgust or revulsion on his face when she told him about what she had to do to manage her bodily functions, specifically her bladder and bowel, and how many medications she now has to take for various issues.
She had an indwelling catheter while in the hospital, and the nurses performed a bowel program on her every other day. It included suppositories, usually two medium-sized ones to get her going, as well as digital stimulation to ensure her rectum was empty and she didn't have an accident. Of course, it wasn't always so simple. She had UTIs a couple of times as a result of the catheter, and she frequently had accidents no matter how many times the nurses checked her rectum for any residue stool or mucus. But it wasn't just the accidents that bothered her. She was suffering from constipation on several occasions. The suppositories never made her go, so the nurses had to digitally stimulate her rectum to loosen her anal sphincter and allow the stool to pass. And other times she had diarrhea. She despised all of the procedures, not only because they were embarrassing, but also because they caused her discomfort. Even though was declared paralyzed from the waist down, that didn't mean she couldn't feel anything down there. She was grade B on the ASIA scale, indicating that her injury was incomplete and that she had sensory function but no motor function below her injury. It was even worse when she developed hemorrhoids as a result of the digital stimulation and impaction.
Even after more than a year, she still wasn't on a good schedule. She always carried adult diapers with her as protection (and a change of clothes, of course). Accidents do happen, and unfortunately, some of them happen in public places, so she must be prepared.
Even their first meeting was not without incident. First, she needed extra lubrication at first because her injury had affected those glands, and then when he was thrusting inside her, she felt her stomach gurgle and realized she hadn't had her bowel program that day. A loud fart followed the next thrust, much to her embarrassment, but Damon didn't seem to mind as he smiled at her and asked if it meant she was close. She wasn't sure whether to cry or laugh, but she nodded yes. He fell beside her with a contented sigh not long after they both reached the climax. Her happiness was sadly fleeting because she knew she needed to use the restroom as soon as possible. Damon was more than willing to help her, even offering to assist her with the process when he placed her on the toilet. She wasn't sure if it was a joke or not, but his face was serious. She was aware that they were not yet there in their relationship. So she shook her head no, and as soon as he left the bathroom and promised her privacy, she began the long process of her bowel program.
After that night, their lovemaking was usually without incident.
However, there were times when things did not go as smoothly.
-/-
She awoke with yet another bloating sensation in her stomach. It was the sixth day since her last bowel movement, and she was in discomfort. Her bowel programs the previous days were all ineffective, producing only a small amount of mucus once or twice. Constipation was nothing new to her, but it never lasted more than three or four days. She was taking Senekot every day for it, and sometimes Dulcolax but they weren't working.
As she tries to move to her side from her back, which is difficult without her legs moving, a loud fart escapes her anus. She buries her face in Damon's chest, who pulls her closer and kisses her on the forehead. "Would you like me to carry you to the restroom?"
She is flushing, hard. "Yeah, I think it's going to work now."
He doesn't say anything else as he lifts her into his arms and places her on the toilet. He gathers the items required for her bowel program, such as suppositores, lubricant, medial gloves, and wet wipes as he is the one who helps with her program every time now. She's still blushing all the way through it, still not used to how he accepts her and the things that need to be done in her life.
He puts on the gloves and squirts lubricant on his index and middle fingers. She tries to relax her muscles, which is difficult; this is her least favorite part as she feels his fingers brush against her anus.
"Ready?" He inquires.
She's not, but she nods yes.
His fingers enter slowly and gently, followed by a circling motion to relax her sphincter. He repeats this several times until some mucus pushes out of her hole, but she does not feel the need to push stool out. He goes around with his fingers a couple more times to make sure she's loose, then he pulls them out. She breathes a sigh of relief, but it is fleeting as he opens a suppository. He looks at her, and she reluctantly nods. He smiles apologetically and lightly squeezes her hand on the toilet seat. He aligns the suppository with her anus and inserts it into her rectum with a deliberate motion. She moans as it stretches her and his fingers push it up until it's in place several inches in her rectum. He pulls out and waits a few minutes before inserting another suppository. Once the second one is in place, he plants a quick kiss on her lips and tells her he will be back in ten minutes to give her some privacy, as the suppositories usually make her gassy during this part of the program.
But even after ten minutes, she still hasn't felt her bowel move or stool come out, only some juicy farts like the previous five days.
Damon returns five minutes later, and he immediately realizes that the program was not a success this time.
"I'm sorry, babe," he says as he wipes her down and returns her to their bed. "Would you like to try it, lying down here? Perhaps it will work that way."
"No, I don't like it. And I don't want to make a mess if I start going," she notes her face turning red.
"Alright, it was just a suggestion," he says as he quickly dresses for the day and assists her in choosing her outfit. "And, you know, I don't mind washing after it. So long as your program is a success and you're not in discomfort anymore."
"It's sweet of you," she says as he sits beside her on the bed. She examines the clothes in his hand, noticing the sweatpants he chose. She recognizes the reason right away and wants to bury her face in her palms. Because she hadn't been able to pass stool for nearly a week, her chances of having an accident increased. Damon stands up and walks into the bathroom, and as soon as she hears the crinkling sound of the adult diaper container, she wants the ground to open up and swallow her. It wouldn't be the first time that Damon helps her put one on or him knowing she's wearing one, but the feeling of humiliation still remains.
He assists her in positioning herself on the bed after he returns to the bed with the dreaded piece in his hand. He unwraps the tena flex super diaper and places it under her. He rubs baby powder all over down there and even some on her anus to prevent rashes if she has a bowel or bladder accident before tightening it around her waist. He completes the taping and pulls on her sweatpants. As he assists her in sitting up, she hears the diaper crinkle under her and feels her entire body flush. Damon simply kisses her on the top of her head and hands her the top and bra he pulled from the drawer.
He helps her into the wheelchair after she finishes dressing, and they head to the kitchen for breakfast.
"I think it'll just be water and some fruits for me today," she says as Damon opens the fridge and asks what she wants to eat.
"Are you certain? Do you believe it would work? I can whip up some super greasy, unhealthy french toast with lots of bacon," he suggests, his brow dancing, knowing that's her favorite.
"I'm tempted, but remember what Dr. Elijah said about drinking lots of water and eating lots of fiber in situations like this."
"Okay, babe, let's try his method then," he smiles at her and begins slicing apples, strawberries, and blueberries into the mix. He gets himself an energy bar and a cup of milk, and he hands her the glass of water.
They eat in relative silence, only talking about their day and what they intend to do.
Later that day after a quick diaper change due to her bladder letting loose, he takes her to a nice secluded area near the mansion for lunch in the nice weather. Fortunately, her wheelchair can travel safely on the dirt road as they arrive at their picnic location. He takes her out of the wheelchair and places her against a tree, ensuring that she remains upright while he unpacks their lunch. Midway through their meal, she fears she will have a bowel accident and looks at Damon in concern. He notices what she isn't saying and quickly checks the backpack on her wheelchair to see if she has spare diapers and clothes. However, as he reassures her that it's fine if she needs to go, only a couple of farts escape her rectum this time. She quickly apologizes as they are still in the middle of their lunch.
"Don't apologize, babe. You have no control over it; it is only natural. But I'm glad it wasn't an accident this time," he smiles and gently squeezes her hand as they finish their meal.
Elena suggests they try another bowel program at night, just before they go to bed, in case it's successful this time because of her diet this day. She really hopes it is, no matter how disgusting six days of stool in her intestines will be, because the alternative is even worse. She does not want to go to the doctor because of her impaction.
But after half an hour later of Damon inserting the two suppositores and digitally stimulating her sphincter, it's still nothing. She loses all hope. Damon wipes the mucus from her anus and tries to comfort her as he carries her to bed with little kisses on her cheek. He wraps an abena m4 around her waist for protection at night. When she has to wear a diaper in their bed at night, she usually lays on her left side, facing but not touching Damon. But Damon has other plans this time, and as he pulls her into him, her head lands on his chest. He repositions her legs so that they wrap around his, and she flushes.
"What is it? Do you have to go?" he asks, alarmed.
"No...No...just...God," she says, cupping her hands around her face. "Umm...my... my diaper is touching your leg. Doesn't it... doesn't it bother you?
She's so embarrassed.
"What? Of course not, babe. Why would it? You need it for protection, it could never bother me. Hey," he says, lifting her chin with his index finger. "There's nothing about you that could ever bother me, okay?"
She nods slowly, still not believing he accepts her completely.
"All right," she says quietly.
"Good," he says, smiling. "I believe we should request an appointment with Dr. Elijah tomorrow. I know you don't like it, and I know what he'll probably say. But your constipation has never been this bad."
She lets out a sigh. "I know," she admits, sounding defeated.
Yes, she is aware that she must take action. She also knows what Dr. Elijah will recommend.
An enema.

Type: Fluffy Romance
CH.1 - THE HONEYMOON
It had been a few weeks after the wedding, and under the blistering reign of the sun, Elena was writing on the page of a new journal— something she had been gifted in the reception.
"—though after the boat ride into Venice," the page read, gliding off the end of one and beginning upon the lip of another, "we spent little to no time in unpacking, rushing down to see the sunset before our night truly began. We drank wine. Correction. I drank wine and Damon plied me with bottles I'd never heard of before. We made love under the stars… and then we fell asleep on the terrace, weeks away from moving onto the next destination, and a month into our extensive honeymoon. Half a year of travelling together before I was to begin school, and before he began his business… We're in a utopia of bliss."
Elena swept her pen across the finishing lip of the page, her silver ring glistening under the cloudless sky—its diamond hot and heavy on her finger. She had to admit, even if it wasn't aloud, that this has been the happiest she had ever been… before Stefan, even before the death of her parents.
It felt shameful to even whisper, up there in the quiet, unheard part of her brain. Though here, on the balcony leading over the many buildings in Italy—her past so far gone it could barely see her—she felt a burst of warmth in her heart that had been dead for so long.
There was a rattle on the door, and the chain came loose, Damon entering their small apartment with a twinge of unhappiness on his face. Elena placed her pen in the crease of the diary, raising to stand.
"What's wrong?" She asked, the ends of her hair—now growing at an alarming rate, as long as it had been in the beginning—blowing in the light breeze.
"My back hurts." He shook his head, as if the notion itself bothered him. There were many things Damon didn't enjoy about being human, and the slightest ache or twinge of age, or of weakness, would irritate him.
Elena came in from outside, her bare feet hot against the tiles, her hands extended to him. His eyes softened as they saw her, though the displeasure was still pulling on his lips that so often were amused.
"Let me see." She insisted, and touched him by the shoulder.
Damon hissed, and yanked his upper body away. She stared in alarm.
He stalked off into the bathroom and yanked his shirt over his head, revealing a spread of red, burnt skin. His back practically a warning sign of 'what not to do when visiting a foreign country'. It made her heart ache to see his ignorance, his dumbfounded expression as she told him.
"What do you mean burnt?"
"You need to apply sunscreen whilst we're in these places. You're human now. Your skin is going to shrivel like a raisin."
He blinked, his face a shade of pink and brown she'd never seen him have before, his eyes even more bluer than they ever had been.
(Hail the blue!)
"I didn't know human skin was so… sensitive. I thought it took a lot more than a few hours in the sun."
"Your skin isn't used to it. Here, come lay down."
"No. It's too painful."
"On your stomach. I have some cream in my bag."
He eyed her in the mirrored reflection of the bathroom. "Will that work?"
"It will make the skin not so… raw. We'll have to get some Greek yogurt at the market."
"What?" He exclaimed.
"Relax." Elena whispered with the hint of a smile, taking him by the arm and leading him to the bed. He took off his shorts and splayed out, the muscles in his arms bulging and back (despite being crisp red) toned under the glow of the sun. He hadn't combed his hair in months and there was a boyishness about him that made her stomach ache, yearning for him in ways that didn't exist before.
Elena pushed the hair off of her shoulders and squirted some cream into her hands, drifting to the bed where he laid with every intention of knocking himself out if it got worse.
She kneeled, sitting lightly upon the backs of his thighs, taking the first spread at his back. He gritted his teeth, though released no sound, his pain threshold having gained some strength points over the years. Having your neck snapped, being starved, and burned alive in hell was only the tip of the iceberg. Though he had to give it to these humans. Being sensitive to every woe of the world was sure a bitch.
Elena grazed her hands over his back, and then blew some cold air onto the tender flesh, trying not to grin as he released a groan of satisfaction. She stopped, and bent down to press her soft lips onto his shoulder blades, parting her mouth to exude more breath as she travelled down his spine.
"Stop that," he said, with honest aggravation, "or I'm going to need to lay on my back for something else."
Elena flushed red and lifted from the bed, collecting her purse from the terrace.
"I'm going to head over grocery store to get you some yogurt. I'll be back in a bit."
"No. Stay. I'll be fine."
"We're both human now, remember? No damsel in distress, no protecting one over the other. I can take care of myself. Rest up."
He turned his head to watch her, idling the way she slipped those jewelled sandals onto her feet and collected the keys from the bowl beside the door. He loved her. God. He loved her.
She turned back to flash him a smile, and then disappeared down the hall.
...........
"You're getting what?"
"Yogurt."
"What will that do?"
"Has no one heard of this? Greek yogurt takes the sting out of sunburn."
"You're insane."
Elena grinned, placing a pot into her shopping cart, pushing it all the way to the sweet aisle.
"Where are you now?"
"I'm in Puerto Rico, fulfilling another long-lost wish of Enzo's. He wanted to take me here after Paris."
Elena half-smiled, only imagining what the unbearable pain must feel like to lose someone like that. Like Damon. She couldn't imagine doing this trip alone.
"He had expensive taste. How many cocktails have you had?"
"Um… this is my seventh." Bonnie laughed, and it sounded good. Elena could imagine her on the beach, one of those ridiculous floppy hats keeping the sun out of her eyes, a collection of glasses beside her lounger and the ocean just in reach. It fuelled her heart knowing they got to live through their lives together. It was the way it was meant to be.
"Give him my best, will you." Bonnie then said after some time. "And tell him I'll see him in a month, when you two travel over to the Caribbean… that will give him some heat in his food."
Elena laughed, and promised she'd send the message over, her hand currently barging in a thousand cookies a minute into her shopping cart. They hung up with smiles on their faces, and Elena went over to the counter to pay… seeing something sitting just beside the till. She picked that up too and paid for it, without thinking.
Not for now… just for the future, she reminded herself.
Elena left a moment later and returned to the hotel to find Damon asleep, his hand (still sporting the wedding ring) extended over her pillow, the sun setting, his cologne on their sheets.
She decided not to wake him up, and crept over to the bed where she lifted his arm, placing it around her shoulders. She watched him, and his fluffy eyebrows that always seemed to be aimed downwards, and his lips that were pulled, and his face that was so unbearably handsome. She leant forward and kissed him, just lightly, and whispered with every ounce of emotion in her voice, "I love you."
He snored in reply, though pulled her closer out of sleeping instinct.
The pregnancy test remained in her bag.

Enter his brother creepily stalking through the halls, worrying about Damon loud enough to wake the dead.

That trope when "Oh, of course I love you. I loved you even when I wasn't supposed to. I loved you before you even loved me back. I loved you before you started seeing something in me and thinking about me"?
Yeah.

Something happened today. I realized something about you. About us. And you can say that it's the sire bond, and you know what, maybe it is. But I'm telling you, it's the most real thing that I have ever felt in my entire life. I love you, Damon. I love you.

His Rose ~ Details
(Kai Parker x Bennett OC fanfiction)
content warnings/tags ~ Dark fiction, dom/sub dynamics, abuse, murder, childhood trauma (mentioned). Minors DNI
I don't claim ownership of The Vampire Diaries or its characters. All credits go to the rightful owner(s). I only own my original character(s).
K.P. Masterlist
This fanfiction is born from my dissatisfaction with the way Kai was criminally underutilized in the TVDU. Honestly, I found him annoying at first, but he grew on me as season 6 went on. Thru Chris Wood's charming performance, Kai stole the show for me. I'll never forgive the showrunners for a lot of things, including underutilizing Chris Wood in this role & not allowing this broken king to have a real redemption arc.
On the topic of the showrunners, I'll never forgive them for how they did Bonnie Bennett or the Bennetts in general with how they were limited to magical plot devices for everyone else's use without any appreciative focus on their power & how it could really benefit them. Even though I love Bonnie & Kai, my otp endgame for her has always been Bonenzo, but I also adore Klonnie ❤️.
My AU changed and added plenty of lore around his coven & certain events. The plot follows the life of Bonnie's younger sister, Rosalina "Rose" Bennett-Ruiz. I go on to describe her below, but I'd like to state that she acts as Kai's antithesis as an innocent, fledgling witch. She's also Bonnie's support system. I always hated how the show often ignored that Bonnie lacked family around her that were unconditionally there for her. Bonnie's mom left when she was small, she lost her grams in season 1, and her father was a non-factor in her life until he returned... just to get killed off in front of her.
I wrote Rose & Bonnie's dynamic keeping in mind everything I hate about older sibling/younger sibling dynamics, like the one between Buffy and Dawn in BTVS. Bonnie deserves family that consistently supports her, encourages her to prioritize her well-being, and actually tries to lessen the existing load on her shoulders.
Another thing I kept in mind when adding Rose to my TVD AU is not to have her replace or take away Bonnie’s space in the plot. Now, I do give her Bonnie's plotline of being sent to the prison world in season 6, but this is essential to the story, and the way Bonnie was treated that season made me so sad that I have no problem taking traumatic experiences from her (of which she has more than enough) and giving them to Rose.
Okay... if you made it through my rant, congrats. I also want to offer my inbox as a place where anyone can offer up requests, scenarios, ask questions, even if you want to roast my cruddy writing... my inbox is open.

🌹Rosalina "Rose" Bennett-Ruiz:🌹
Born: March 18th, 1994 (18yrs)
Gender: Female | Height: 5’1” | Hair color: Brown | Eye color: Hazel
Race/ethnicity: Black and Latino/Hispanic
Species: witch (Bennett)
Titles: Rosy (Kai), littlest witch (by Kol), kid (by Damon)
Characteristics:
Rose is a gentle and kind-hearted person, always looking for the good in people and situations. She can be a people pleaser and is naive and overly trusting, often seeing the best in everyone and believing in second chances.
She highly values family, so bonding with Bonnie means a lot her. Due to her naivety and weakness, she can be easily manipulated and taken advantage of. Like Bonnie she’s compassionate and tends to selflessly help others. Struggles with powerful spells because of her insecurity in her magical abilities
She enjoys singing, gardening (honing her nature-based magic, making potions & studying herbology), sewing and cooking (she bakes when she’s anxious)
She has a strong aversion to blood & violence so spending time with vampires took a lot of getting used to
Trilingual: fluent in Spanish & Portuguese
Despite her demure demeanor and virginal innocence, with her stuffed animal collection, enduring love of cartoons and a lack of dating, she harbors the secret desire to submit herself to a powerful dominant
Background:
Family: Bonnie Bennett (half-sister), Jamie Ruiz (half-brother), Abby Bennett-Ruiz (mother), Matteo Ruiz (father 🕊️), Sheila Bennett (maternal gm🕊️)
Rose was raised in Summersville, North Carolina. She was a child model until 13 when her father tragically died. She was the captain of her high school majorette dance team. Her life drastically changed when Bonnie arrived on her doorstep.
Rose was 16 when she & Bonnie would finally meet. Bonnie and Elena came to Abby for help with a spell. Rose was shocked to find that she had an older sister as Abby never mentioned Bonnie or the life she left behind in Mystic Falls. She was even more surprised upon finding out about her magical bloodline and that supernatural creatures walked the earth. Unlike Grams, Abby never mentioned magic throughout Rose’s life and even went as far to suppress her magic with a charmed necklace
After Abby is turned by Damon, she decides to leave her family to learn control and find peace as a fledgling vampire. Rose moves to Mystic Falls with Bonnie where she learns magic from her.
Magic doesn’t come naturally to her. Admittedly having a 50% accuracy rate with her spells. She struggles with her confidence & focus when chanting and spells drain her much quicker even when she tries channeling the energy around her. Despite this, Rose is determined to improve, valuing her one-on-one time with Bonnie and spending late nights on her own practicing & memorizing spells. She is determined to use her magic for good, prove herself and lessen the load on Bonnie as the resident Bennett witch of the group.
Her role in the Mystic Falls gang is the “Bennett witch in training” or “the bringer of baked goods” (according to Damon), since she often supplies their gatherings with fresh pastries. Everyone underestimates her power, even Bonnie. She tries to keep Rose out of danger unless she can’t help it.

🔪Malachai "Kai" Parker:🔪
Born: May 9, 1972 (22yrs)
Gender: Male | Height: 6'0" | Hair color: Dark Brown | Eye color: Blue-gray
Race/ethnicity: white/non-Hispanic
Species: siphoner (Gemini Witch coven)
Titles: abomination, black sheep, the defective twin (his coven)
Characteristics:
Charismatic with a charming smile. Upon meeting him, his charisma operates as a façade to hide his lack of empathy and his sadistic tendencies
Can be hard to read but that’s because he struggles with expressing his emotions which stems from his abusive childhood. He’s cold and relatively unfeeling with people, but once he lets someone in, he’s fiercely loyal and protective.
He can be observant, calculating and manipulative to taking advantage of someone and get what he wants
He’s a sassy man, often comes back with quick quips and has a natural sense of humor (typically dark humor)
When he’s comfortable, always yapping, has no filter and sucks with certain social cues. After being alone for nearly his whole life, will talk anyone's ear off without realizing they are not willing to listen
Kai can siphon all of a witch’s magic without killing them. He controls how the process feels - at its worst, a fast searing burn to a slight tingle. Overtime, a witch will regenerate their magic
High libido!!- He’s starved for touch and affection (though he would never admit that he needs anyone). Sexual desires reflect his sadistic personality as he enjoys dominating another person through absolute control and pain infliction
He likes raunchy comedies and media with half-naked women such as Bay Watch and MTV videos. A major foodie with constant cravings for sweet and salty snacks. He prefers snacking throughout the day but when he does bother to cook, it’s really good
He is fluent in old Latin, often found in grimoires and other ancient texts. Time allowed him to hone his knowledge of witchcraft and technique
Background:
The Parker family is the head of the Gemini coven. Its patriarch, Joshua Parker is the coven leader. Kai is the eldest child, being half an hour older than his fraternal twin, Josette. Unlike Jo, Kai was born without the ability to generate his own magic, instead siphoning magic from lingering spells, objects, or other witches. When he was young, he would naturally gravitate toward the magic of his sister, so Joshua quickly decided to physically isolate Kai from everyone for fear of his son's "defect" hurting others.
As fraternal twins born of the coven leader, Jo and Kai would be set to merge on their 22nd birthday, where the winner takes the other's magic and coven leadership and the loser dies and is absorbed into the other but with the risk of Kai's siphoning ability giving him an edge in the merge, Joshua and Viviane continued having kids until she birthed another set of twins that would merge instead.
Kai's upbringing was lonely, spending most of his time locked in his bedroom up in the attic. Following his father's lead, most of his family excluded and demonized him. As he grew, Kai learned to internalize the cruel labels they gave him. If they wanted a monster, they would get a monster and on his 22nd birthday, May 9th, 1994, he would finally act on his boiling rage and resentment toward his family, unleashing the hatred he accumulated through a lifetime of torment onto his siblings when Jo refused the merge. To protect the twins, she would relent to merge with him but the coven was waiting and with the help of Sheila Bennett they banished him to a prison world of complete isolation.
Each year that passed only added to his hunger for revenge, left with nothing to do but plan his escape and seizer of coven leadership. He grew to take pride in what he had done to his siblings and his status as a sociopath capable of killing anyone who gets in his way without remorse.
AU-Specific Lore:
Tumblr media
Prison world Lore:
The prison world resets with the eclipse every 3 months.
Time works differently, so no one ages throughout their time there.
The prison world cannot create life so the only living inhabitants are those sent there or arrive via ascendant.
Kai is linked to the prison world so he can’t die. If something kills him, he’ll be out for a while depending on the damage but the magic will heal him back to life. Without Kai, the prison world falls apart so while he’s there, it sustains his life to sustain itself. Once he leaves, it ceases to exist.
The Ascendant - an ancient device created by the Gemini coven and a Bennett ancestor that only responds to a living Bennett’s blood and magic. The ascendant is sensitive to magic in general, so even when the spell is done right, it will activate then fall apart. You only have one chance at the time of the eclipse to correctly do the spell, which Kai knows from experience because early on he tried collecting a vial of Bennett blood that he hunted down in a hospital and using Josette's magic he siphoned from a hidden dagger. Disappointment boiled over into rage when he did the spell beneath the eclipse, the ascendant disassembled, but he was not transported out.
The Gemini Coven Lair:
Exists as a non-physical location where the coven keeps ancient texts, grimoires, enchanted items (talismans, gems, ascendants, etc.), and materials for spells & potions
Infinite space that can be utilized by the coven leader: often includes a space for magic instruction, a library, spell casting, a gathering area for the coven, etc.
Accessed only by portal, which is summoned by a spell entrusted to high-ranking Gemini members

Chapter 2
Elena awakens the next morning with a damp and uncomfortable sensation between her legs. She quickly discovers she's wearing a diaper and that her bladder must have emptied throughout the night. She adjusts a little, attempting to find a more comfortable posture and push the tiredness from her mind. Suddenly, one of her legs spasms, accidentally landing on Damon's knee. He stirs and pulls her closer, but he doesn't appear to be awake. Elna understands it's time to get out of bed and clean herself off in the bathroom, as well as take her medications, particularly those for her spasms if she doesn't want things to become worse.
She raises her head and looks around for her wheelchair, only to find it's at the other end of the room.
She has no method of getting to it, let alone the bathroom.
She despises waking Damon up with her troubles, despite the fact that he has repeatedly said that he does not mind. So she moves closer to him, puts a kiss on his cheek, and his eyes open as though he senses her distress.
"Hey, good morning," he greets sleepily, returning the kiss to her forehead. "Let's get you in your wheelchair and into the bathroom for your morning routine," he says quietly, and she nods relievedly.
Damon assists her in the restroom by removing her dirty diaper, which includes not just urine but also a little mucus, most likely the consequence of her unsuccessful bowel program effort last night. He uses at least 5 wipes to clean her, then wraps her waist in a fresh Abena m4. After he assist her in her wheelchair, she rolls herself to the drawer and selects her day's clothes, while Damon hastily dresses and takes his phone.
After brushing her teeth and rolling back into their bathroom, she notices him contacting someone on the phone as she finishes putting on her clothing.
"This is Damon Salvatore. I'd like to schedule an appointment for Elena Gilbert with Dr. Smith. Do you suppose he will be able to see us today?"
Elena immediately buries her face in her palms as she hears the name.
"That would be ideal, thank you," Damon replies as he hangs up the phone.
"I gather I have an appointment with Dr. Elijah. What time are we leaving?" Her voice is dejected, but she knows she has no other choice. This must be done if she is not to deteriorate.
"This afternoon, 5 p.m., if that's okay with you," his blue eyes are regretful, she knows he doesn't want to make a decision without her approval.
She sighs. "I suppose there's no use in postponing the inevitable."
"Hey," he says, kneeling beside her chair and holding her hand in his. "It'll be over in no time. On the plus side, you'll feel a lot better afterward. Perhaps Dr. Elijah will merely prescribe you a stronger laxative or another medication." He attempts to comfort her by giving her her signature lopsided smile.
She is hoping he is correct.
"All right," she says, nodding.
"All right," he says as he lifts her hand and kisses her palm. "Let's grab some breakfast, and then we can watch that terrible movie you enjoy so much for some reason," he teases her, and she knows he's only trying to make her feel better.
"The Divide isn't bad," she pouts, but her lips quickly twist into a smile.
"Of course not, darling."
Elena's thoughts are entirely blacked out by what was waiting for her in the doctor's office later that day, so watching the movie was a smart choice. Fortunately, she only had to change her diaper once while they were watching, and it was simply urine this time. Her bloating had returned, and she was gassy, forcing her to blush every now and then as some loud farts escaped her butthole during the movie.
Damon, on the other hand, doesn't seem to mind; he just held her waist as they curled up on the couch, assuring her it was better to be out than in.
When the movie concluded, it was time for her to get dressed and leave for her appointment. Elena chose to stay in her sweatpants because she didn't want anyone to know she was wearing a diaper, and if she opted for jeans, it would have been surely visible.
Damon helps her in the van that had been modified to accommodate her and her wheelchair. He buckles her in and they are on their way.
When they arrive at the clinic, a nurse promptly hurries them into Dr. Elijah's office. Elena remains in her wheelchair as Damon stands beside her, waiting for the doctor.
Dr. Elijah then enters a few moments later, wearing his distinctive white coat and a face mask that hangs from his ears. Elena's spine shivers instinctively, and not in a pleasant way.
"It's great to see you again, Ms. Gilbert. And you, Mr. Salvatore, as well." Elena wishes she could reciprocate the praise as he welcomed them. "How do you feel today? It's not the time for your usual check-up. What appears to be the issue?"
Elena's face flushes, but Damon squeezes her palm gently and begins speaking before she can open her mouth.
"Elena's bowel programs generally go off without a hitch, but she's been experiencing problems recently. She hasn't been able to pass stool for six days; something is causing her constipation."
Elena stares down, her hands suddenly becoming quite interesting.
Elijah gives a nod. "Impaction is quite common among SCI sufferers; don't be ashamed, Elena. Despite my reservations about the problem's long-term viability," Elijah looks at her before looking up at Damon. "I assume you're the one assisting her with her care?" Damon gives a nod. " Could you tell me how you control her urine and bowel movements?"
"Yes, I assist her. Her bowel schedule is usually every morning, and she requires one or two suppositories to start her going. I also use digital stimulation to assist her sphincter to relax and empty her rectum. Her bladder must be catheterized twice or three times a day. However, due to her constipation, she has been wearing diapers both day and night to avoid accidents."
Elijah nods, thinking. He then casts a glimpse toward Elena. "Remember what I said about wearing diapers previously, Elena. I understand your concern about accidents, but they can cause more harm than good." Elena nods as she hears his admonishing voice.
"We always put baby powder on her to avoid rashes," Damon informs the doctor.
Elijah nods, then his voice becomes solemn. "Right. Elena, I need to examine you and figure out what the problem is and how to remedy it." He claps his hands together as a young woman walks into the doctor's office. "Just in time, April. I need you to assist Elena in putting on a gown and getting her on the exam table. In the meantime, I'll go get some supplies."
After Damon and April hoist her onto the exam table, Elijah returns to them. Various objects are placed on the counter beside the bed by the doctor. "First and foremost, April, help Elena lie on her left side." Elijah snaps on medical gloves, the sound sending shivers down her spine just as the assistant is finishing adjusting her position. "One week of impaction is cause for worrying. When was your most recent effort at a bowel program?" He asks, as he stands behind her and undoes the back of her gown, displaying her adult diaper.
"I umm...this morning," she begins, and the doctor says nothing.
"And what was the outcome?" Dr. Smith inquires as he undoes the tapes on her diaper, prompting her to flush. Even more so when Dr. Smith tells her that her bladder has let loose in the interim.
"Just some mucus, like the previous days," Damon says in her place.
Elijah acknowledges the words and clears his throat. "What I'm going to do first is check for stool in your rectum and loosen your sphincter for the following portion of the inspection," he says, and she shuts her eyes, preparing for the unpleasant sensation.
Elijah removes the wet diaper from between her legs and she feels his hand parting her asscheeks. Damon interrupts the doctor just as she feels his finger touch her anus. Elena's eyes snap open.
"What are you doing? You haven't used any lubrication on your finger, "Elena's eyes widen, and she breaks out in cold perspiration. Was it the doctor's intention to penetrate her without lubrication?
"Don't worry, Damon, she won't feel anything," Elijah says.
"She will, she's grade B on the ASIA scale, she has a sensation down there," Elena glances up at Damon gratefully and he gently squeezes her palm.
"If that's the case...April, please pass me Elena Gilbert's chart," he tells the assistant.
Elena hears paper crinkling behind her and Elijah hums.
"Damon, you look to be correct. Please put lidocaine jelly on my fingertips, April."
Elena hears the squishing sound of the lubricant being added to the gloved hand, and her only warning is Elijah's "Here we go" as his fingers enter her anus with a determined move. Dr. Smith begins the torturous process of the digital stimulation and she lets out a groan. His movement is less gentle than Damon's, prompting her to groan in discomfort several times throughout the procedure. His fingers circle her anus for many minutes which seems interminable to her, then after a while, she feels dampness exit her rectum. She breathes with relief as Elijah takes his fingers out, but she also knows that no stool has come out.
Elijah verifies this reality. "Only mucus this time as well, but your sphincter is quite tight. You also have some hemorrhoids both inside and outside."
Elena was already aware of this; she never appears to be able to get rid of them since she needs to have digital stimulation for her bowel programs, which is typically the cause of them. It's a never-ending circle.
"She occasionally complains of sphincter spasms. Is that typical? Could that be the source of the tightness?" Damon asks, his tone somewhat apprehensive.
"That is correct, Damon. Elena, I will prescribe a stronger anti-spam medicine as well as hemorrhoid cream for you." Elijah adds, and April begins to type on the computer. "Unfortunately, those are not answers to the real issue at hand. I was expecting that a lengthier digital stimulation technique might allow you to pass some stool. Elena, I'm afraid I'll have to do an enema."
Elena lowers her eyes in defeat as the doctor repeats the dreaded words. Damon squeezes her hand and kisses her hair. "It'll be done before you know it," he says quietly, and she shakes her head.
"April, please fetch me the enema kit from the cabinet," Elijah says, wiping her anus with wet wipes to remove the residue of mucus.
Elena's muscles stiffen as she hears the doctor prepare her enema.
"I'm going to insert the liquid through a catheter tube, Elena, and then, with Damon's aid, we're going to place you on the commode over here to facilitate the passage of stool and enema liquid," Elijah explains the procedure, which she is already familiar with.
The coolness of the lubricant on her anus is followed by the catheter tube sliding within her rectum with a swift move, causing her to let out a small grunt. Elijah then allows the liquid to enter her, and all she can do is gaze at the tiled floor, inwardly dreading at the prospect of what is happening to her. She starts to feel a tightness in her gut, similar to when she's bloated, and she's not sure how much of this she can take. It feels like an eternity while the liquid is poured into her, and she is terrified of what will happen if they don't get her on the toilet in time. The tube is rapidly removed from her anus, and she barely has time to groan in discomfort as she is quickly placed on the commode in front of the exam table.
Just as she is placed there, she can't hold it any longer. The sound of feces dropping into the container and raucous farts brings redness to her cheeks.
"Uh..." she groans as a bigger stool squeezes through her anus.
Damon is by her side now, gently massaging her shoulder as her bowels empty. He doesn't seem to mind the smell or sound of defecation, but she is still mortified.
When it seems to be over, Elijah helps her bend forward a little to wipe her thoroughly clean and she thinks it's finally over.
Unfortunately, Elijah destroys her delusion.
"Damon, please assist Elena in getting back on the exam table," the doctor says as he approaches one of the cupboards.
Elijah returns and hands something to April just as Damon finishes situating her on the table.
"Elena, I'm afraid your problem will not be that easily fixed. Even though your bowels appear to be empty now, you may experience constipation again the next day. We don't know what's causing it; it might be a lack of activity or something wrong with your diet, but until we know for sure, prevention is the best choice." Elena swallows, unable to predict what the doctor would say or do next.
Elijah urges Damon to assist her this time on her stomach and instructs April to spread her legs frog-like by her sides. Elena is mortified at being this exposed, and then the doctor begins talking again.
"I'm going to have you wear a bowel catheter for the next two weeks to help you pass stool even if you become constipated again. It's an uncomfortable solution, but it's effective; you need to wear the catheter both day and night." Elena becomes pale as Elijah speaks.
Please, God, don't force her to wear a catheter up there.
"Isn't there another alternative, Dr. Smith?" Her voice is weak.
"Elena, I'm afraid not. I'm also going to recommend an indwelling bladder catheter for this time period. It will be simpler to manage the two simultaneously," Elena's eyes widen as Elijah explains.
"Do you engage in sexual activity?" Elena flushes as he inquires.
"Not in the previous week, but typically," Damon responds for her.
Elijah is humming. "Elena requires the two catheters inserted all day, therefore I'm afraid that won't be doable for the next two weeks. I only recommend taking them out while showering or bathing."
Elena hears Elijah preparing something, most likely the catheters, and she wants to run away and never come back. Why is this happening to her?
"First, I'm going to insert the rectal catheter, and I'd want to ask you, Damon, to kindly study the method since you'll be doing it for her." Damon squeezes her hand and approaches Elijah. Elena blushes and wishes the ground will swallow her whole.
She hears the lubricant squirting and feels the tip of the tube on her hole.
"This catheter is significantly larger than normal since it must transfer the amount of feces that have accumulated in your bowels. It will be uncomfortable, but I believe you will become accustomed to it in time." Elena is skeptical of his comments and hopes he could go through all of this before speaking.
"All right, here we go," the doctor adds, inserting the catheter into her rectum. Elena quickly realizes that the catheter is not only bigger but also longer, as she feels her back tense as the doctor continues to push the tube into her rectum. He finally stops pushing the tube which causes her major discomfort due to her hemorrhoids, causing her to grunt. To say she's uncomfortable is an understatement; she can't really move since every movement causes her agony because the catheter is so deep up within her.
Elijah manipulates the catheter in such a way that she groans again. She knows he's speaking to Damon when he says, "I attached a collecting bag at the end. It is imperative that the catheter is at the end of her rectum, you will know how far you have to insert it, as it is marked on the tube," Elijah explains.
"Can't it come out a little?" Damon inquires, and Elena loves him for it.
"Unfortunately, the catheter must come into contact with her intestines."
Elena wants to shout and weep because she can't handle this for another two weeks.
"Now, Damon, please assist her in moving onto her back so I may insert her indwelling bladder catheter."
She attempts to object when they transfer her, because the movement to her back is causing her pain where her rectal catheter is. "Uh...Ah" she grunts.
Elijah works quickly on the indwelling catheter as he puts the tube into her urethra, which is another unpleasant feeling she won't be able to shake for the next two weeks.
Elena rests there with two catheters in her, unable to move for fear of aggravating the agony she already feels, as Elijah finishes and removes the medical gloves.
"Elena, because you have a rectal catheter, you will be unable to utilize your ordinary chair. You will use a different one for the following two weeks, with a commode-like hole where the seat is. On the bright side, because the chair is electric, you don't have to use your arms to wheel it."
Elena is at a loss for words as she notices someone rolling a wheelchair into the room. Elena grunts as Damon pulls on her bra and top, raising her body slightly. Damon's remorseful stare catches her attention, and she rests her palm on his face.
"Damon, please assist me in getting Elena into her new chair," Elijah asks as the two men struggle to raise her.
She groans when they lift her, her catheters dangling in the air before they seat her half-nude in her new chair. Damon and Elijah arrange her legs in their appropriate positions in the leg holder. Elijah adjusts her legs so they're more spread and somewhat elevated, and he reclines the backrest of the chair slightly, which feels a little better with her head lying on the headrest. Elena swallows as she sits in the bulky and big wheelchair, which she knows is usually used by quadriplegic people. She suffers down there, she can't move for fear of aggravating the pain, and she actually feels like an invalid. Damon wraps a blanket over her waist and legs to keep her decent and warm because she can't wear underwear or trousers.
"Elena, I handed Damon the medications and scheduled an appointment for you in two weeks. I'll put together a box of supplies for you, including rectal catheters, collection bags, and indwelling catheters. Damon also informed me you're running low on suppositories and laxatives. You'll use this chair for the time being, and being reclined will help relieve some of your discomforts. Please contact me if you have any questions along this process."
Elena nods slightly and notices that her body is trembling slightly. She has no idea if Damon noticed it or not as he thanks Elijah for his assistance and pushes her out of the doctor's office.

CH.1 - THE WEDDING
"Morning, sunshine."
"It's an omen to see the bride before her wedding day."
"You've been dating an omen for the past decade, might I remind. One little peek won't hurt."
Elena sat, a silk robe of white ribboned around her waist, her hair pinned in great curls against her head.
She looked lovely, Damon thought, as his eyes drank in the sheer sight of her. Riveted, as he had always been by the gentleness in her skin, the warm innocence in her eyes. They caught him, studying in the most beautiful way. How could he not see her after these three days apart?
"It hasn't been that long, you know." She said, and stood from the silver rimmed chair. It was the same one she had gotten ready in eight years ago, preparing for the Miss Mystic Falls pageant. Her stomach was in an equal chaos of knots. Though this time, they were welcomed instead of dreaded.
"It's been long enough." Damon said, taking a step towards her. "And after five months of waking up beside you, I'm not liking the sudden change. You're lucky I've agreed to part with you for this long."
Elena narrowed the wedge of space between them, and dangled her arms over his shoulders, crossing her pinkie fingers around the back of his neck. She noticed that there was a darkness nestled unpeacefully beneath his eyes, and a peakiness about his skin. He looked tired, and she knew all too well the feeling.
Damon, even after all of this time, was adapting to the upkeep of human life.
"You don't have to worry any longer." Elena whispered, lightly hovering her lips over his. "In a few short hours we'll be husband and wife… and nothing will keep us apart."
He sighed against his greatest weakness—her—and took her mouth selfishly against his own, using its sweetness for his own selfish need and desire, the taste of her a drug he had never been able to forget; even after all of this time.
A disturbing cough came from behind, and as if knowing, Damon pried his mouth off the honey that was his bride, his bluer than blue eyes piercing irritatingly ahead. They reflected off of Elena and swerved to the icy blonde of Caroline Forbes; her brow cocked in question.
"I was just leaving." He said, and Elena watched with brief embarrassment the muscle in his jaw bounce. He turned back to kiss her forehead, and then left, keeping her hand in his until gravity yanked them apart.
"Two more hours he had to wait." Caroline tutted, locking the door behind him. She was wearing a lovely gold number—a silk that danced off of her hips and waist—shimmering as she went. Elena couldn't help but smile, returning to that chair where then, she began to brush a rouge upon her cheeks.
"Bonnie is bringing your something old, and I, am gifting you your something blue."
Caroline fetched from her purse a little black box, and for a moment, Elena had to wonder if it was the necklace Stefan had given her… all those years ago. She had told those close to her that she didn't want it, that it was his and touching it would disrupt the peace she had laid with him. Though still, a brief part of her wondered as she took into her hands that little velveteen box, pinching the lid with hesitation.
Upon a bed of silk, there was a blue gemstone, a carved 'D' within the centre. It was a necklace, one that gave off those familiar fumes of vervain and lavender. Elena frowned, and faced Caroline's look of apprehension.
"Well… do you like it?"
She did, though she didn't quite understand it.
"Here, let me put it on."
Caroline came behind Elena, taking that rope of silver and lacing it around her throat with a pinch and twist, that heart of lapis resting between her collarbones. It truly did look beautiful.
"It was Damon's ring… though Bonnie enchanted it to protect from compulsion instead of daylight. We both had it melted down into something new… something that was him instead of Stefan. What do you think?"
Elena had a small ooze of emotion, and her eyes welled, glistening in the mirror as she caressed it.
"A new necklace for a new life." She said, and Caroline laughed a tinkering, Christmas-bell laugh.
It truly was a new beginning.

Damon slipped the silk of his tie through the noose of his shirt-collar, twisting, re-twisting, and grunting with irritation. It felt like it was choking him, and a talon-hand of suffocation was fastening around his neck.
Stefan should be here, he thought. A thought that perhaps ghosted through his mind a hundred times a day.
It had been five months since their last goodbye, and still, he dreamt of the flames that had licked up that cavern, engulfing Katherine and him in a finishing swallow. The roar of anger lodged in his throat, the haze of newly found humanity in his veins, the image of his brother's teary eyes as they board into Damon one last time. The last thing he saw.
Damon tossed aside the tie and went to lean against the fireplace, his forearm resting against that brick, the need for something strong drying out his mouth. Bourbon, he needed bourbon. But the recently discovered pain of a hangover wasn't worth it.
He found a bottle of champagne on ice, and popped the cork into the open flames, sipping from the rim. Just a little something to take the edge off, he thought to himself, unable to take his addiction of choice at this very moment; Elena.
"You okay in here?" A voice asked, and Damon glanced over his shoulder.
Alaric was in the doorway, the age having done a pain on his face, the weight of parenthood having done more to his hairline. Damon sighed, and turned back to the open fire.
"Just fine."
"So you're not openly drinking from a bottle on your wedding day?"
"He should be here, Ric."
Alaric sighed, and looked to his hands that were stuffed awkwardly in his pockets. "Yeah." He said, and swung forward a little. "Yeah, he should, Damon. But he isn't, and he wouldn't want you messing up this day for the sake of a little mourning."
Damon took another swig, and then set aside the bottle.
That was true, he inwardly agreed, though it didn't stop the gnawing guilt.
Ric strolled forward, and took the tie that had been draped over the armchair, moving Damon by the shoulder and centring him. "Today is your wedding day." He said, and looped the silk around his neck, adjusting its length and knotting the top. "That night in the tunnels, when Katherine was your priority, you thought this would never been a possibility. That it would only be a fantasy. You got the girl, Damon. And you'll see Stefan again, one day, one lifetime."
Damon lifted his chin, and forced one of those lopsided smiles everyone seemed to mistake for benignity. He nodded in appreciation, and shunned away the possibility that he would see Stefan again. He wouldn't give himself hope like that. Hope was a bitch, after all.
Though sitting on that armchair, the one Damon had previously flung his tie upon, was the brother he couldn't let himself believe lived after forever. Stefan sat, in his unseeable nothingness, and watched with a warmth in his green eyes—one that hadn't been there since they were children.
He thought, after all of the worry, he really was here, seeing what Damon deserved all along. And that, was the thing that brought him the most peace he'd had since death.
_____________________________________
The music began, and Bonnie's something old (a pair of Marie Gilbert's earrings) glimmered beautifully against the sun; nestled beneath the loops of Elena's chocolate curls. She took the first step, and got that same rush of warmth she had that day in the cemetery, the day her world had decided to flourish into something new… all by the presence of a crow and some fog.
Though today, the sun was brighter, and the rays were warm, and her smile was bigger than it had been before—the promise of forever sadness long gone. Happiness beginning now.
Jeremy clenched his arm around hers, and they walked in union down an aisle where white feathers were scattered in the centre. The exact ones Bonnie had used to showcase her magic for the first time.
Caroline's girls followed, and they tossed handfuls of red rose petals down the walk, giggling when reaching the end and scurrying into the laps of their mother and father.
Damon stood at the end, watching his fantasy finally catching up with him.
Elena left the arm of her brother—missing the sneaky flash of a middle finger to her beloved—and took his hand, watching the amusement only grow upon his face as he took in the twinkle of blue around her neck. His ring, he thought, and his chest only got heavier the more he waited. The more he endured the ceremony.
Let me have her, he thought, and recited the words blindly, fluently, uncaringly so.
Bonnie watched them, and Jeremy watched her, and there, was a first love that would never die. And in the distance, Niklaus zeroed in on the blonde to the right, whose heart was aching all too humanly for a vampire. Caroline yearned for Stefan, and tucked away a stray lock of hair to hide a tear, one little Lizzie and Josie frowned at.
The wedding came to a brief halt, just as the sun began setting in the sky—beautiful colours of orange and lazy pink and buttery yellow stretching across the apex. The 'I do's' were done, the guests had applauded, and Damon kissed Elena like it was the first time all over again.
The June wedding for a couple that was never expected.

blood.
-ˋˏ✄┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈
''I said leave me alone, Damon!"
I push her back gently, still at arms reach, to look down at her face. the redness, her tears, and her hurt were all a result of my betrayal
"Elena, baby, let's talk about this, please -" my arms wrapped around her middle as she throws little punches to my chest. "You lied, Damon!" She takes an unsteady breath, "You told me you'd stopped, Damon!" Her voice becomes muffled as she hides her face against my chest. "I should have told you." I shake my head as I bite in my lower lip.
When Elena and I got together, I vowed off human blood and turned to animal blood, It made me a better, more serene man. But when news came out about the sun and moon curse a few weeks ago, I had no other option but to turn back on to human blood-for my strength. I had to for Elena. What kind of man would I be if I willingly stayed weak at the risk of my girl's protection. Nonetheless, I understood her feelings towards the matter. After Stefan's tragic misuse of human blood, with him losing control of his addiction to the blood, she had every right to hate me for my decision. But I wasn't Stefan
"I have it under control, Elena, I promise you" My voice was barely a whisper, It broke me seeing her the way she was, her face crimson, soaked with tears and puffy from her wiping away tears with her harsh textured sleeves. "That's what he said, Damon," Elena shook her head at me. "I'm not my brother, Elena. I can handle it, "I assure her.
She gulps hard before she slips against me. Her body falls against mine until she lands on the wooden floor. She tucks her knees to her chest, whilst her sleeved- covered hands hide her face.
I fall to my haunches before her, placing my hands on her knees as I watch her. her chest was heaving, and her cries filled the room, both the image and the sound burning into my mind
"Elena -" I begin to say, but she cuts me off. "I'm staying with Stefan tonight." she sniffles as she begins wiping away at her tears. My eyebrows furrow at her, "No." My voice trails off as I watch her rise up to her feet. I shake my head as she approaches the door. I run to the door, standing in front of it as my hands are busy behind me, with shutting and locking the wooden door.
"Damon, please, I don't want to do this tonight, My head is -" she takes a heavy breath as her
hand reaches her temple. "it's pounding, Damon." She shakes her head. Her eyes began watering again, pleading me to move.
I sighed, stepping aside. I opened the door for her and watched her as she narrowed her eyes at me. "Goodnight, Elena." I let out a ragged breath as she took slow steps, reaching up to me. "I truly am sorry, Elena." I whisper, but it's loud enough for her to hear.
I wasn't sorry for drinking the blood, I was sorry for not telling her about it sooner or about the way she found out. But I had to do what I did. For her
She gives me a frown before she pushes past me, I hear her run down the hallway and to Stefan's room. The door slams, and one of Stefan's vinyls plays almost instantly after.
My eyes roll - that was definitely Elena's doing. She would have wanted to blur out the noise, knowing that I would have eavesdropped on her and Stefan's conversation.
I followed by shutting my door before walking over to my oaked desk. Letting out a string of profanities whilst I do so.
My hand reaches for the bourbon bottle before I pour it out into a crystal glass. I toss back the burning liquid down my throat, and I follow that three times before grabbing the neck of the bottle, taking it over to the couch where I lay.
"Fuck this" I muttered before I reach into my back pocket of my jeans. I grab my phone and dial Alaric's number. He answers on the first ring.
"What can I do for you, D?" Alaric's chirpy voice had me grimace through the phone. "The Grill in fifteen?" I get straight to the point. I hear Alaric's low chuckle through the phone, "Already there, brother."
Hastily, I end the phone and make my way to grab my leather jacket. I threw it on and made my way over to the Grill.
I sent Stefan a text, letting him know I was out.
"Let me guess, Jenna?" I raise a brow as I pull out a seat beside Alaric. He turns to me, rolling his eyes. "I don't know what to tell her man, She's better off away from all this." He shakes his head as he passes me a glass of bourbon. "Elena thinks it'll keep her safe if she doesn't know." I shrug. "It's Elena's call." He shakes his head before tossing back his drink.
I follow in pursuit, with my drink before the bartender tops it off. "Enough about me." Alaric sighs, "What have you done this time?" He asks. "She knows." I scoff. Alaric's eyebrows raise. "About me taking human blood." I look at him from the corner of my eye. "She's mad?" He asks. I nod.
"You understand why, though." Alaric says. "Stefan," I mutter. Alaric hums. "She'll come around, D." He reassured me. I hope so
A few hours later, it was early morning of the next day. The Grill had closed for tye night a couple of hours ago, so Alaric and I found ourselves buying a bottle of bourbon from the convenience store before settling ourselves on a pavement, which led to the Park.
"I wish she would just understand that I'm doing this for her!" I exclaim, the buzz off the alcohol making me feel heighted. "That's the thing, brother, no matter what - " Alaric begins to say, but a hiccup interrupts his spiel. "It's always us men in the wrong, even when all we're trying to do is protect our girls." He splurs. I hum at his spiel. "Cheers to that." I knocked down a gulp of the golden liquid down my throat before passing the bottle over to Alaric, where he followed the same action.
A buzz from my pocket had me reaching for my phone, but once I saw the caller id, I stashed it back into my pocket and continued having a heartfelt conversation with Alaric.
Up until his phone began buzzing, he reached for tye pocket inside his jacket and answered the call without checking to see who it was. "'Ello'. He chirps. I focus on the call, hearing Elena's sweet voice over the phone.
"Are you with him, Ric? Is he okay? Where are you? Shall I come get you both?" Her worry makes my lips curl. Alaric mindlessly gives me stare before tossing over his phone to me. I shake my head before tossing back his phone.
"Ric?" Elena's voice is now concerned. Alaric let's out a huff before shaking his head at me. He gives me a scowl before bringing his phone to his ear, "He's in bad shape, Elena. I think he's spiralling." Alaric lies as a smile is spread along his lips. He gives me a playful smirk whilst I clench my jaw.
"Bastard," I mutter before snatching his phone from him, "I'm f-fine, E-Elena." I stutter. "Can I come get you?" She asks. "I don't wanna be home right now, Elena." I tell her. "J-Just stay with Stefan." I sigh before ending the phone.
"Is it bad that I get incredibly jealous when she always runs to my brother?" I ask Alaric. I swallow the lump in my throat. Alaric bites his cheek. "They were friends well before they started dating, D." Alaric takes a pause to look at me. "But Stefan wouldn't do that to you, and god, anyone could see how infatuated she is with you, you have nothing to worry about." He nods his head curtly.
I hum at Alaric's words, nodding along. I find myself reaching for my phone and over to Eleba's contact. I share my location with her before putting my phone back in my pocket.
"They'll probably be here soon." I tell Alaric.
•••○•○•••
Less than ten minutes later, Stefan's car pulls up in front of his. Alaric and I stand from sitting on the pavement.
Stefan gets out of the car first. Before he reaches Elena's side, I run over to open her door. She takes my hand and gets out of the car giggling.
I see Stefan rolling his eyes before he goes to talk to Alaric. I shut the car door and pressed Elena's back against the Porsche. "I love you, Elena. I'm sorry." I shake my head to the side. She brings her hand under my jaw and leans up. "It's okay." She smiles against my lips. "I talked to Stefan, he explained to me why you did it." She nods her head to my brother, which has me turning my head to him.
He watched the two of us with a small smile. I narrowed my eyes at him before turning back to Elena. My lips instantly collided with hers. She smiles into the kiss whilst her hands rest on my nape.
"I love you, Damon." She whispers against my open lips. she teasingly lets her tongue run across my bottom lip. I squeeze her hip, making her breath out a small moan. My lips quickly catch hers again, my tongue slipping in, naturally.
"Okay, okay, that's enough." Stefan grimaces. "Save it for the bedroom." He shakes his head, Alaric lets out a chuckle. "It's called being in love, Stefan." I smirk, but my lips quickly frown when I realise what I had just said.
"I didn't mean it like that -" My eyes flicker between Elena and Stefan."It's fine, Damon." He bites his cheek before giving Elena a sad smile.
"I'm s-sorry." I stutter. "Damon, it's okay." Stefan smiles. I nodded at my brother before looking back at Elena, who was still against the car.
My eyes narrow at the car, "So where are Alaric and I sitting?" I nod my head over to the two-seater Porsche. Stefan's jaw drops as his hand goes to scratch the back of his neck. "Oh," Elena drags out.
The four of us look between ourselves, "Alaric, you go with Stefan." Elena says. "Let's go on a walk, Mr. Salvatore." She smirks, grabbing my hand. She skips down the road, and I follow her down the road. "Be careful!" Alaric shouts out. "Yes, Dad!" I reply sarcastically, following Elena. We reach the end of the road when Stefan's car drives past us, making a sharp left turn.
Elena hums to herself as her eyes flicker between her left and right. She turns on the right turn. My eyebrows furrow. "It's left, Elena?" I question her. "Are you in a rush to get home, Damon?" She whispers seductively. she moves to stand in front of me. Standing on her tiptoes, she leans up, placing a kiss on my jaw.
"In a matter of fact -" I hum as she runs her lips down the side of my neck. "Elena -" I warn her, my head shakes. I grab her wrists before losing myself in her eyes. "I desperately want to go home." My head dips imbetween her neck and shoulder. My breathing was heavy against her. I feel her swallow a lump in her throat.
"Take me home, Damon." She says, breathless as she arches her front against me. She wraps her arms around the back of my neck.
"Please."

Red Hot Winter Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Chapter 2: "I won’t crucify the things you do."
After spending more time with Davina, in which Elena learned that the witch feels suffocated by being forced by Marcel to stay in the attic, even though she loves him because he saved her from a much worse fate, the brunette vampire leaves, promising to come back soon.
"Katherine! Can I ask a favor?" Davina said this before Elena could leave.
"Of course! Anything!"
"I know you don’t like to go to these types of events, but would you go with me to the Dauphine Street music festival in a few days?"
"Yes, I would love to! But do you think that Marcel would let you?"
"He will. After everything I do for him, he has to let me go out for a night."
"Oh, he better let you!"
Elena left the attic and walked into the streets. She intended to go back to the Originals' mansion but was stopped in her tracks by two vampires.
"Miss Pierce, Marcel would like to see you."
"By all means, lead the way, boys." She said it smiling. Elena was escorted to Marcel's compound, which, according to Rebekah's stories, was where the Mikaelsons lived before he took over. Even though the Originals didn’t live there anymore, Elena recognized their family crest on the walls, well hidden by plants.
She was escorted to what could only have been Klaus’s office at other times; there were even some of his paintings on the walls. What she didn’t expect to find was the hybrid himself beside Marcel, but she guessed he could help corroborate her story.
"Katherine Pierce, as I live and breathe!" Marcel said, smiling and standing up to be in front of her.
"Marcel Gerard, so we meet again." Said Elena, looking at him for the first time. It was easy to see why Rebekah fell in love with him, but it was also easy to see the threat underneath the warmth of his smile.
"I didn’t expect you back in my city so soon after the fun we had last time," He said, touching her face. Well, of course Katherine slept with him, thought Elena. Klaus scoffed at Marcel’s use of "my city."
"I wish I was here to have more fun with you," Said Elena, smiling and leaning into his touch. "But Klaus had other plans for me."
"Well, you see," Klaus started talking, "Ever since Elena Gilbert died, Katerina had decided to stay in Mystic Falls, and since I decided to come back to New Orleans, I thought why not compel Katherine and have her do whatever I wanted her to do?" She did run from me for half a millennium, and it’s only fair."
"You call this fair?" Marcel said, visibly enraged. Marcel did like Katherine.
"Marcel, this is between me and Katerina. And besides, right now all she has to do is look after Hayley." Said Klaus.
"You’re in my city, Klaus; remember that," Said Marcel in a threatening tone, turning to Klaus.
"Marcel," Said Elena, trying to get Marcel to calm down. Somehow she knew that Klaus could and would kill Marcel if he kept pressuring "It’s okay. He won’t do anything to me. Elijah won’t let him. And I just went to see Davina! She wants to go to the Dauphine Street music festival with me."
"I don’t know Kath; it’s too dangerous…"Marcel said, but Elena silenced him with two fingers.
"She’ll be safe with me, Marcel; you know you can trust me." She then kissed her fingers and hugged him.
Okay," Marcel caved in, "But my guys will be watching at all times, and also my friend will come too."
"Which friend?"
"Camille. She’s a bartender." Marcel said, smiling after they separated.
"I’ve been gone for a while, and you already have another friend?" Elena pretended to be jealous.
Now, c'mon, Kath, she’s nothing like you." He kissed her cheek and said, "One day I’ll get you out of Klaus's grasp, I promise."
"Thank you," Elena said, then she kissed him near his mouth.
"I’m impressed," Said Klaus, when both of them got into his car to go back to the Originals' house.
"What? You didn’t think I would be able to pull it off?"
"No. I think you and Katherine are not so different after all."
"Katherine and I are nothing alike."
"That’s where you’re wrong. You both survived me, and apparently, you both fell for Elijah." He said it, smiling.
"What? No, I…" Elena was at a loss for words.
"You think I didn’t know where Marcel was keeping my brother? Of course I did; I helped build that church, Elena."
"I just wanted to know where he was so I could tell Rebekah," Elena said.
"Katerina would be proud of you, Elena."
As soon as they got to the house, Elena found Rebekah and Hayley in the wolf's room, along with someone else that she didn’t recognize.
"Katherine," Said Hayley, standing up. She grabbed Elena by her neck and lifted her against the wall. "You almost had me killed!"
"Well, that didn’t work, did it? Klaus saved you," Elena said, remembering how Klaus, Hayley, and Rebekah filled her in on everything Katherine had done before this point. Elena balanced herself and got Hayley off her carefully. "And besides, Klaus compelled me to your little maid thanks to the five hundred years I spent running from him."
"Katherine Pierce," Said the unknown woman.
"And you are?" Elena said.
"I’m Sabine," The woman said, raising her hand, which Elena was going to grab until Rebekah interrupted her.
"Katherine, come with me."
The brunette and blonde vampires left the room and went into Rebekah's room.
"She’s a witch," said the blonde after closing the door. "If you touch her hand, she’s going to know you’re not Katherine."
"A little heads up would’ve been nice," Said Elena.
"I’m sorry, I had to take care of Hayley. She was attacked too last night."
"Is everyone in this family going to get attacked? Is this what’s going to happen to me?"
"Not if you play your cards right. Now tell me, did you find him?"
"I did! I found Elijah! He’s in the attic, in the church, with Marcel’s witch. Her name is Davina. She can’t control her powers yet, but Marcel asked her to kill him anyway, but Elijah doesn’t believe she will. He asked me, "
"Wait, he talked to you?"
"Yes, I touched his hand, and he told me what to do. He asked you to bring him your mother's grimoire. Do you know where it is?"
"Yes, I do! Did he tell you anything else?"
"He asked me to take care of Hayley because he doesn’t trust Klaus, and..."
"And…?"
"And that the vampires of New Orleans think he and Katherine are having a relationship, so he and I will have to pretend once he is out of his coffin."
"Oh, I guess knowing it's you and not Katherine makes it better for me."
"What do you mean?"
"Elijah certainly has a type. I think he fell for you, Elena; coming back to Katherine was a relapse. And he was the one that brought you back, not the torture session from the Salvatore boys."
"I don’t know how to feel about this."
"I think this time you need a man, Elena, not a boy. And from the looks of it, you’re not going to have much time to think. Elijah is going to get himself out of that coffin, and he is going all in for the kill, even if in public he has to call you Katherine or Katerina."
Rebekah knew which spell her brother was talking about. It was a spell to unlink two people. He wanted to break the spell Sophie’s sister had cast. The vampire removed the page from the grimoire and gave it to Elena, who put it in her pocket. Both of them returned to Hayley’s room, but she was no longer there. They found her with Sabine in the kitchen. Hayley was lying on the counter, and the witch was in some sort of trance.
"I thought witches couldn’t do spells," Said Elena.
"It’s not a spell. She’s just figuring out the sex of the baby," Said Hayley.
"Yeah, I’m pretty sure you could go to a hospital and get the same answer." The brunette vampire said this, thinking something was wrong. And she was right. Right before Sabine said the sex of the baby, she made a horrified expression.
"It's a girl," Sabine said, smiling. "You're having a girl."
Hayley and Rebekah were static, but Elena was suspicious. Sure, Elijah would love to know he was having a niece run around the house soon, but still, something was off.
Sabine took off shortly after, and while Rebekah filled Hayley in on the news about Elijah, Elena followed Sabine.
She ended up in the city's cemetery. Following the witch closely behind, she watched the woman get into an old crypt.
"The wolf is having a girl, but the baby is going to be powerful. More powerful than any other creature that’s ever existed, it's one of its kind," Said Sabine.
"What did you expect? She’s the daughter of an aberration; of course, it's a threat, not only to us but to the balance of nature itself." Said an older witch. "I don’t like what I’m going to do, but it needs to be done."
That older witch grabbed an ancient box with an old syringe inside. Two other warlocks brought Sophie into the crypt.
Please, Agnes, don’t do this!" Begged Sophie
"Your sister shouldn’t have done this in the first place!" Said the witch named Agnes, putting whatever was inside the syringe inside Sophie.
Sophie passed out immediately, and the other witches and warlocks left the crypt. As soon as everyone was out, Elena got in and grabbed Sophie, taking her to the Originals' house.
Elena left Sophie inside her room in the Originals' house. She didn’t know what was inside that syringe, but she knew it couldn’t be good since Sophie was linked to Hayley.
The brunette vampire came back to the attic; this time it was empty. Davina was most likely in the shower since Elena could hear water running.
Elena simply removed the dagger from Elijah’s chest, just like she had done in the past, and left the spell inside his suit jacket. They needed him more than ever now.
Sophie woke up two days later in the living room. Elena had told Rebekah what had happened because Klaus was nowhere to be found.
"You have two seconds to tell me exactly what was in that syringe before I kill you," said Elena, in a very Katherine manner.
"It’s an old potion. It’s meant to abort a baby. I’m not pregnant, but Hayley is," Said Sophie.
"Unlink yourself from her right now!" Demanded Rebekah, with her hand around Sophie’s neck and her fangs starting to show up in her mouth.
"I can’t! Marcel will know, and I’ll die!" Sophie said.
"Sister, if you kill her, our niece will die too. So if you please, remove your hands from her neck," Said a very polite voice.
Rebekah dropped Sophie on the couch. That voice could only belong to one person.
"Elijah!" She said, happily, she was going to hug him.
Elijah hugged her back and kissed her cheek. Rebekah separated herself from him and smiled at Elena.
"Katerina," Said Elijah, smiling. He walked up to her, and one of his hands went to her waist while the other went to her face. "I missed you," He said sincerely, almost whispering. Then he kissed her so tenderly and so sweetly, like he was worshiping her. Elena kissed him back, her hands going to his hair, as if Katherine would do it, but mostly for herself. She always wanted to know what his hair felt like.
He ended the kiss with a peck on her lips. "Come with me, help me pick another outfit"
"Yes," said Elena, breathless.
They both went up the stairs, Elijah never letting go of her hand, while Rebekah and Sophie went to take care of Hayley, who was starting to develop a fever.
Elena walked into Elijah’s room. It was very spacious, with a king-size bed and two large windows with white curtains. He had modern things, like a smart TV and a stereo, but the room also had space for a desk with some papers on it, along with shelves with books and a walk-in closet packed with suits but, surprisingly for Elena, regular clothes as well.
"I’ll make space for you here."
"What?" Asked Elena.
"I know you’re here of your own free will, but I don’t trust my brother Elena. I’ll feel better if you’re in my room with me. And besides, we have to put on a little show, don’t we?" He said this, smiling at her, picking up his suit and changing in front of her, removing his shirt first.
"Elijah!" She said, turning around somehow mortified. The original vampire chuckled.
"We’re playing a couple, Elena; we might as well behave like one." He said "It’s okay if you want to look at me while I’m changing." He said this, whispering in her ear and kissing her neck, making Elena tremble. He smiled and stepped away from her to put on his suit.
Elena turned around.
"How do I look?" Asked Elijah.
"Dashing as always," Elena replied, smiling.
Hayley’s fever was getting worse as the day went by. The concoction Sophie made had helped a bit, but Hayley depended on Davina's ability to unlinked both of them. Elijah had faith in the young witch, saying that if she completed that spell, she could choose the next spell they would work on. It was already night, and they didn’t know what else to do to get her fever down.
"Take her to the pool!" Elena said. "The water is freezing; it will make her body temperature go down!"
Elijah grabbed Hayley, and both of them got inside the pool. Hayley was having convulsions and holding onto her belly. Elena got into the water, not caring if her impersonation would blow or not. She held Hayley’s body along with Elijah's.
"Davina is going to make it; I know she is," Elijah said, almost sounding scared.
"Elijah, it’s going to be okay." Said Elena, looking deep into his eyes.
All of a sudden, Hayley’s body stopped moving. Sophie grabbed a knife to check if they were unlinked by making a small cut on her palm. Elena grabbed Hayley’s palm. It wasn’t bleeding. They were unlinked.
"It worked," said Elena.
Elijah breathed out in relief and was about to take Hayley inside when Sophie asked him something.
"Please don’t let Klaus kill Agnes. She’s one of our ancestors; she didn’t know what she was doing."
"Agnes won’t die at my brothers' hands; you have my word," Said Elijah.
Elena was following him, only to be stopped by Sophie.
"The Katherine I knew would’ve never gotten into that pool."
"If Hayley dies, I die, remember? I’m Katherine Pierce; I’m a survivor." Elena said, "If you pull another stunt like this against us, I don’t think you’ll survive to tell the tale. Elijah has a rather bad habit of ripping out people’s hearts.
After making sure Hayley was safe inside her room with Rebekah watching over her, both Elena and Elijah got changed. Elijah had gotten a phone call from Klaus to meet him in the church.
"I’ll go with you. I don’t trust Klaus around you," Said Elena. They both got into Elijah’s car and got to the church shortly after.
"Elijah! Katherine! Welcome to the party! You see, while you two were making sure that Hayley was safe, I was hunting down the witches that had threatened my family. And I found them here!" Said Klaus, going around the church killing the witches one by one but leaving Agnes for last. "This one here is the one that poisoned my heir. What am I going to do with you?"
"Niklaus, you asked for my forgiveness, remember? You shall have it if you don’t kill Agnes. I promised Sophie she wouldn’t die at your hands. If you want my forgiveness, this is how you shall have it."
Klaus let go of Agnes’s neck. Elena knew what was following and looked down.
Elijah went to Agnes, who was crying.
"I promised Sophie you wouldn’t die at my brother's hands; I didn’t say anything about mine." Elijah put his hand inside her chest and said, "No one messes with my family and lives," and then he removed her heart.
The first time Elijah had done this in front of her, it had certainly terrified her. It proved to her that he was a very powerful man, not to be messed with.
Elena doesn’t condone violence in the slightest, but she had seen what those witches had done. They would’ve killed Hayley’s baby. That should’ve been a decision that Hayley should've made, and she decided to keep the baby. She knew the Mikaelsons would do anything for each other, but now she has seen it, and she was in the middle of it. Right where she should be.
"You two love birds Go ahead; I need to do something before I get home. I need to tell someone justice was done."
Elijah got a handkerchief from his pocket to wipe his hand, grabbing Elena by his other hand.
"I’m sorry you had to see that," He said.
"Well, it’s not the first time I’ve seen you rip someone’s heart out," She said.
"Elena," He said, putting both of his hands on the car, trapping her between the car and his body. "Thank you for removing the dagger from my chest."
"Well, I did dagger you once, if I recall correctly."
"You were trying to stay alive and didn’t know if you could trust me. I don’t blame you."
"I still feel bad for it, though."
"You don’t have to. It’s not your fault. You helped me with Hayley tonight. And looked out for her when I wasn’t there. Thank you."
"I was just keeping my word."
"This...relationship that we have to fake. I don’t want to fake it with you, Elena. I want you. All of you"
Elena’s heart was beating so loudly that she knew Elijah could hear it.
"Elijah…"
"I know you might be afraid of history repeating itself because of what happened between me and Katerina, but I assure you my lovely Elena, she is in the past. I want you."
And with that, he kissed her. He kissed her like she'd never been kissed before. It was not like she was with Stefan and Damon. It was so much better, like she was in heaven, as if Elijah was perfectly made for her, or as if she was made for him. The best part about being a vampire is that you don’t need to breathe. So Elijah grabbed one of her legs, wrapping it around his waist, while his other went inside her t-shirt. And to think that one of his hands, which had ripped out a heart just half an hour earlier, was now on her back. Her hands went to his hair, pulling it hard from his roots, which he seemed to like. It was the softest thing she had ever touched.
Hey, love birds, this is a church, not a motel!" Said Father Kieran, he said, interrupting them. Elena hid her face in Elijah's neck, holding back a burst of laughter.
"I’m sorry, Father, for I have sinned." Said Elijah.
Elijah and Elena got into the car, and holding each other's hands, they got back to the house.
