Current concept for Masked Werewerewires in DPAU. I will compile a full image of the Plugboy "line" soon, since all I need to do is draw a proper Masked WWWire and decide on the final design.

Infodumping and context below, I would REALLY appreciate if you read it, especially if you are confused about the context behind this! This will talk a lot about Swatchling masks and getting masked, which, if you follow DPAU at least a bit, should be familiar with. However, if you are not, send me an ask, I will very gladly explain it again! DPAU has some complicated concepts and new ideas and rules, and I am always excited to speak about them!

I may compile a new term explanations, since... There's a few. I took DR and made it twice as complicated just for fun, so no wonder.

Here's a quick rundown - When a Plugboy is masked, they become a Tasquefolk. The same species Tasque Manager (also known as Tammy in DPAU).

When a Plugboy is wired, they become a Werewire. This is a transitional state - either shortly before they absorb the wire to become a WWWire, or before they decide that's not for them and return to being a Plugboy.

Or, in case of canon Deltarune occurences - if they are being controlled by someone in power. (In the DPAU world, Plugboys are trying to get to get control wires to be as strictly monitored as Swatchling masks, as they can be used by people in power to use Plugboys/Werewires for their own will. If they aren't mentally strong enough - when being controlled they may not be able to absorb the wire and regain control. Or, some are lucky, and are just abandoned and forgotten about, and can easily unplug themselves. Unfortunately, these wires only work on them, unless there's special ones like the one used on Berdly, though that didn't 'plug' him in. Swatchling masks on the other hand can work on other species. Such as Plugboys....)

A Werewire can not be masked, not only because they themselves are a transitional state* causing the mask to not react, but also because their face is covered up by the wire. For a mask to work, it needs to be placed on the face. (*It's why they flash so many colors! They're deciding on what colors they would stick with as a WWWire! Tasquefolk dont have this - they will share the same/similar coat colors to Plugboys.)

Werewerewires, on the other hand, can be masked, and so this is the form. Unlike Tasquefolk, they are not an unique form, but rather an upgrade form. The only known unique forms caused by the masks are Tasquefolk, and the exact reason why is still being studied, but it is most likely due to the compatibility between Swatchlings and Plugboys as they share a common "ancestor". (Addisons, Swatchlings and Plugboys all share the same "ancestor". They all have very stable masked forms thanks to this. Other species, however, may not. This is why there are laws and strictness around masks! Things could go wrong! Darkners could get corrupted. They could be used by the wrong people.) (I will discuss the topic of these "ancestors" later, again, I encourage you to ask if you do care to know!! It'd be encouraging.)

Upgrade forms are usually just bigger, more powerful forms of a species. They will usually look very similar to their old forms. Often they will gain new quirks and new power. However, masked species were NOT supposed to be a thing. It was a Swatchling thing only, but nature and the dark code of the Cyber World has faults! So they can! So, rather often, the code initially doesn't know what to do, so it may pull things from other species - like how Tasquefolk are look VERY similar to Tasques despite not being related. (Fluffy small colorful guys? Must be an odd Tasque! Add Tasque/cat elements!)

Masked WWWires pull a little from Linxes - my own species I have been working on. Their designs are not finished, however their most recent concept will be posted after this one.

Can I just say I love how the TV keeps getting plugged and unplugged in this blog’s canon

Like. Most people would assume that it’s been unplugged for years until just getting plugged back in in Chapter 2 for whatever reason,

But honestly one thing I’ve wanted to talk about for a while but never know how to word is how the reason fan content of future Chapters never really hits the same way the real thing does is because of assumptions like that. Unlike Toby, who already knows what he’s gonna do with everything, we as the fans don’t typically take the opportunity to build off of small stuff like that, or just add new things to old characters instead of simply recycling what we currently have. Despite the fact that a lot of things we didn’t know in Chapter 1 actually came from things we did know, like how when you see the knockoff controller for the console under Kris’s bed, you’re supposed to assume that it was used by them as yet another visual display of their inferiority complex, only to find out that it was actually used by Asriel so they could have the real one. Or how it was revealed in Chapter 2 that Alphys’s “Cat” is actually Susie. Or how Queen’s sipping noises from Chapter 4 were never shown off or foreshadowed previously, they were just made up on the spot because her whacky personality allows for that kind of randomness, and in turn, also makes it kinda off-brand for her to not have new stuff. The thing about the plug is especially synonymous with the first thing ‘cause the whole extra lore about Toriel being some kinda god basically hinges on it

Overall, I’d say it’s safe to say adding small new things and building off of small old things is a decent chunk of what makes DR as good as it is, and without that, it just feels like something’s missing

Not that that’s not understandable. Coming up with your own shit can be pretty hard, especially if you’re not planning on covering a full Chapter’s worth of content. Plus the concern about how poorly stuff like that might age, considering what happened with Mike- Shit I��m getting side tracked

Anyway yeah, I like how this blog’s take on the Chapter has a neat detail like that

this is so sweet, thank you anon! 😭 like ive said before i dont wanna knock other people's fan chapters - the creativity in this fandom is really great and i love seeing what people come up with! there's a lot of it that i haven't really been able to keep up with, and lots of ocs that seem to have popped up because one person made a cool little idea and people latched on. but for tvland, i wanted to keep it tied to the game as we know it as much as i can, even with the nature of this kind of thing making a lot of it have to rely on my own creativity and headcanons. a lot of people have told me tvland is somewhat unique in that regard, so i'm glad everything people have been coming up with seems to be their own!

kris unplugging tenna and throwing out all their things bc of how they sympathize w the darkners is an idea ive gotten more and more attached to as time goes on. i can't know exactly what's going on in toby's head, but i like to write the blog as though someone handed me deltarune as an unfinished game and went "how would this end?" the big line of the game is "no one can choose who they are in this world", and i'm sure people who've been following and will keep following me and @officialralsei have probably picked up on where that theme pops up again and again. i don't want to show my whole hand when it comes to what i'm doing here, since i am telling a story at the end of the day, but the two of us spend so much time going over the darkner stuff in the game with a fine-tooth comb that i at least hope i made a satisfying continuation to it here.

in the end, this tenna won't be canon. but she means a lot to me, and it seems like a lot of people love her! if it turns out she's a totally different character in canon, we can just pretend this one is her long-lost cousin or something :P

SaiGenos - oh man.... cyborgs...... I read a fic where some of Genos' wires get fucked up and he needs Saitama to plug them back in cuz hes basically immobile until they get fixed... and OUGH it's really hot..... I read alot more im addition to this, but this one was REALLY good

Of course!!! I hope you know you've just given me an excuse to ramble on about my OC sdfgghjkl

For the uninitiated, here’s a quick re-cap of my OC:

So something I haven't really mentioned yet is Electra's nature as a darkner. She's a copy of her real-life counterpart, sure...but I mean. She's also part Catty. Catty's the one writing this fan page. Catty's the one using her blog to not-so-subtly vent about her life to the world wide web in between posts about her favourite popstar. Catty is inherently a key part of our Electra. So little bits of our beloved purple cat tend to slip out by accident.

Aside from physical appearance, Electra definitely gets her bubbliness from Catty as well! I don't want to go into this too much now... but let's just say the source of Electra's good qualities are heavily one-sided :)

I'd also like to think this gives her the 'cat' element (basically deltarune's version of pokemon typings lmao - look at the wiki if you don't know what I'm talking about)

Some notes on that revelation are:

She has a natural affinity to cat-like darkners :3c

She gets to have a fan club consisting of only plug boys (except for like one tasque that's there to be pet <3)

She can speak in meowmeow and binary code (which are the same thing in cyber world??? neat!) so doesn't have much trouble with tasques except for that one that's now part of the fan club and wants more pets--

There's a whole lot more I could say, but I'm gonna leave it at that for now! I will be exploring a bunch of stuff in more comics and art so keep your eyes peeled for posts in the near future!!

Deltarune Chapter 2: Live Thoughts

So, since the new chapter of Deltarune came out, I've played it all the way through, so, here are my thoughts as I had them. Basically a live-blog, but, not live anymore, I wrote these in my notes app before.

NOTE: Obviously there are going to be ALL THE SPOILERS for Deltarune Chapter 2 in this, as well as Chapter 1. Reader discretion is advised.

Wow, okay, so I was wrong about it being immediately explained.

Various descriptions have changed, and I’m not sure if it’s because of the change to a new game, or the one to a new chapter.

I feel like Berdly is definitely a m’lady guy.

Okay, so, we’re not skipping class this time.

I really wish we could call Toriel and tell her we’re gonna be late again, but I couldn’t see an option for that. Maybe Kris told her on the ride to school.

Okay, so, Noelle is definitely adorable, and a huge lesbian.

Susie seems lovestruck too, kinda.

Oh my god, I just realized, the LightCandy is literally the chalk Noelle gave Susie. What the fuck.

So, for giving the Top back his cake, we get regenerating SpinCake that heals everyone for 140. Nice.

Battle challenges, huh? This should be interesting.

So, we can get a ClubsSandwich, $100, or…Jigsaw Joe’s entire life savings. Okay.

Aw, Clover has separate heads in their dialogue box!

Just realized this “dojo” also has their bed. Odd.

Alright, let’s take these challenges!

Oh, so if we act with Kris, than spare with Ralsei or Susie…got it!

Okay, so, being able to rematch bosses, with different gimmicks and attacks, but based on the same logic? Always amazing.

I love the little cut-ins from the other characters with certain lines, like Susie and Lancer revealing “for a price” means zero dollars.

The Blacksmith runs a bakery where he can fuse items…okay.

Okay, so, we’re “leaving” through the way we came in, so “surely” we’re going back “home” to the “real world” and our “family”. Sure.

Oh, we, actually went back to the light world. Huh. Actually wasn’t expecting that.

“Reverse diss-tracks, where the vocalist puts themselves down and praises Queen…or noise music.” That’s some, interesting taste in music.

“All our songs are only 4 seconds long!” Damn, so you’re, like, Vine musicians?

So, the Knight is opening alternate fountains, that create dark worlds out of, more mundane places? Interesting…

So, someone new is leading the rebels. This, can’t go well.

So, yeah, that's Deltarune Chapter 2. In conclusion: this explains nothing, raises 120% more questions, and overall is still an incredible, wonderful game. I also like how each Chapter so far has been almost as long as a full play through of Undertale, and yet we're still somehow only 2 sevenths of the way through. Oh yeah, did I not mention? After completing it, it brought me to a chapter select with SEVEN DIFFERENT CHAPTERS, only two of which were available. So, you know. THAT'S FUN!

In actual conclusion, please play this game, it's free, it's amazing, and also buy the soundtrack on Bandcamp so Toby can make some kinda living.
