I think I know Susie's backstory.

(All images have alt text, by the way.)

For a while, my take on Susie's backstory was that she met Kris (and Toriel) at the festival a long time ago, and promised to never forget each other. Then, when she came to hometown for real, Kris had changed so much, she thought their silent behavior was them completely ignoring her - she thought they had forgotten her. So, she absolutely DESPISED them for this.

But... looking again at the Halloween Pencil's description in Get In The Car, Loser! I find that something... doesn't add up with that.

That was the beginning of your friendship. That... wouldn't make a lot of sense with my theory. That couldn't be the start of their friendship, because that would be the festival.

But. Suddenly. It all clicked.

When she was in First Grade,

Susie shared a class with Kris, with Toriel as the teacher.

Kris would lend her their pencil at the start of class, and she'd gnaw on it, then give it back at the end. This was the beginning of their friendship.

But then, one day... she had to move away. Possibly, to a city of only humans, as some have theorized.

When she... I don't know, let's say, ran away from home, or got abandoned by her parents, or whatever happened such that she is now homeless, she ran back to the only place she ever truly felt comfortable: Hometown.

But, when she returned... nobody remembered her. Not even her best friend. Hence why she hates Kris so much.

What Kris said in th3_n3w_g1rl_g1rl was something related to their shared past. And that shook her to her core. But, she brushed it off. If they really remembered her, why would they be ignoring her...?

She seems to still be running on the assumption that Kris doesn't remember her, but has decided to move past it.

The dialogue above clearly implies that Susie "remembers" Toriel from something in the past - but Toriel only remembers her from what Alphys has told her. And Susie clearly really admires and respects Toriel - she's crass and doesn't care what anyone else thinks, except for Toriel. When she's in Toriel's home, she stands up straight, acts super polite, avoids swearing. She really wants to make a good impression. And, she said, "Kris, you've got a good mother. It'd be a shame to make her bury her child," as an excuse for not killing Kris in chapter 1. It would make sense, then, that the only adult who was ever truly nice to her, and truly tried to understand her, would make such a lasting impression on her, and that she would try so hard to make a good impression. Her first grade teacher.

This could even explain why the Halloween Pencil is in the unused classroom even though supposedly it belongs to Kris. And, why Susie knows what the unused classroom is despite being new here.

Anyways, what I'm saying is, mark my fucking words.
