How I settled on genderfluid as a label for me after constant doubt
Questioning my gender has been incredibly difficult for me. It took awhile to even realize I felt nonbinary, but once I did, I quickly realized I didn’t know how I felt nonbinary, or what color I was of nonbinary. I knew I felt mostly neutral on the gender spectrum, but my feelings of gender seemed to constantly change, as the moment I’d feel like I found my label, a day or week later I’d be questioning all over again. I looked at genderfluid peoples experiences a lot to try and figure out if it described me, but I found their experiences to be very binary most the time, which made me feel invalid in describing myself as fluid because I didn’t feel such strong shifts. In fact, most the time I felt agender but partially masculine or feminine, sometimes having both energies at once, so my dysphoria is very minor compared to what I was seeing people describe. I realized though that just because my experience didn’t fit the common one, didn’t mean that makes me any less genderfluid. My gender was and is constantly changing even if it is just minor changes. I sometimes don’t even feel agender because I start to identify with gender in an androgyne way. It’s impossible for me to settle on a label and I realized that’s okay, I should just embrace that! I’m genderfluid! What really helped me was Dutchy’s YouTube video on signs you might be nonbinary/genderfluid. I related a lot to her experience. I also realized, it’s okay if I’m also comfortable with just telling people I’m nonbinary most of the time because that label is broad enough for my gender fluidity and a lot of genderfluid people use both terms for themselves anyways! And it’s okay if I only use one pronoun set, which I will do for now because they/them feels the most right for me. It’s also okay if most the time I don’t even know what’s going on with my gender, that’s normal. I know that I’m always some blend of nonbinary, being mostly in the middle of the gender spectrum, and that’s enough to know most the time. It’s also okay if I don’t always tell people my gender shifts, I feel like they’re more for me to know so I can use the right language for myself and style my hair the right way and dress accordingly. Though I do think sometimes certain words that would normally bother me like girl or handsome I might be happy to hear sometimes depending on my gender so it’s good people at least know I’m genderfluid. I’m still not out to anyone other than my sibling, but maybe when I am I’ll feel more comfortable with the thought of sharing some of my gender shifts with people. For now, I just want people to know I’m nonbinary.

And of course, the most confusing of all to cis people:

Link to the original if you wanna see more responses!
Edit: first off, wow I did not expect this to take off like it did, thank you!
Second, this somehow made it onto TERF and anti-sjw tumblr and their replies are just proof they have no sense of humor.

If you care about our gay male community please read.
Tumblr media
You probably have seen this flag around if you're active in online queer spaces.
I've seen many people, especially gen z on Tik Tok/Instagram call it a "furry pride flag" or even worse, a "beastiality/zoophilia flag"
Please, STOP.
This is the BEAR BROTHERHOOD FLAG.
This flag was created in 1992. It's older than me, and older than most of you on this app. It represents bears, an identity that belongs to gay men and their community, just like butch and femme belong to lesbians. However gay men identifiers usually describe a body type more than a way of presenting.
Bear describes a gay male who is usually chubby with a strong build and very hairy.
It has nothing to do with being attracted to animals.

Those are the two otter flags.
Otter is also a gay male term that describes a body type.
It has also nothing to do with being attracted to animals.
Please learn your history.

Why do I have to pick one name. Why can't I have dozens of names that people use interchangeably like I'm some kind of ancient wizard

Being masculine does not make you evil. It doesn't make you an asshole. It doesn't even make you a man... It just makes you masculine.
Masculinity is not exclusive to cis-men.
You can be a trans-man and be masculine.
You can be a cis-woman and be masculine.
You can be a trans-woman and be masculine.
You can identify any way possible and still be masculine.
Masculinity should never be restricted by biology, and it's ridiculous that people think that way. Anyone can enjoy being called handsome and masculine if that is what they want, and there is no shame in that ever.
If you are masculine, no matter your gender, you deserve to be seen, and you deserve respect.

[image description: 5 near identical images of someone in a hoodie sleeping against a pillow, using a pride flag as a cape. the person has pale skin and fluffy hair sticking out from the hood, beside them is the words “GENDER IS A PERFORMANCE AND TODAYS SHOW IS CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF INTEREST”. the colour schemes of each image match the respective flags. each image has a different flag in this order: agender, demiboy, demigirl, demigender, and genderfluid. end id]
someone politely requested an agender version of this drawing so here it is! thought it would be a good warm up. i then went and did the demiboy, demigirl, and demigender flags because they had the same amount of stripes as the agender flag and then i did the genderfluid flag because i was procrastinating
i put these on redbubble too, ill link that in a reblog

Reblog if you agree that gender and sexuality are fluid. No one needs to shove themselves into a box for the "comfort" of others. If you don't know yet, it's ok! If you don't want to label yourself, it's ok! Trying out more than one label is ok! You are valid nonetheless :)

Men deserve body positivity & neutrality. And I mean all men. Not a single man left out. Not a single fucking one. Everyone deserves to feel comfortable in their body, regardless of gender, regardless of marginalization.

making pride flags that fit in a 4x7 pixel area was a bit tricky, but i think i like how they turned out! what do you think? also you get an internet cookie if you can name all of them without googling around or looking in the tags ;o
