Dev. update for Pt. 2

Hey all!

Hope you enjoyed the CT:OS update (Pt. 1)!

I'm back home from my trip, which means I've gone back to writing and editing in preparation for Pt. 2!

As Pt. 1 was a little delayed, and I didn't do much writing or editing while on holiday, Pt. 2 release will likely be closer to the end of the month / next month, but I'll firm up the release dates closer to when I've gotten everything written and have sent it out for beta-testing.

Good news though, is that because I'm pushing back the dates a bit, I'm aiming to add some extra content that I hadn't planned to fit into pt. 2... which means you'll all definitely get the Sam kiss you've been waiting for ;)

For now, here are the tentative release dates:

Beta-testers: 28 Oct Early-release: 4 Nov Public release: 11 or 18 Nov

Lastly, I'll push out an edited version of CT:OS to the public demo around the same time that I release Pt. 2 to beta-testers, so if there are errors or bugs from Pt. 1 that you think I haven't quite fixed yet, do let me know.

Merry Crisis Early-release: Chapter Three!

Visit a columbarium with your family (to commemorate your grandparents 👴👵 and relive some childhood memories!) <Flesh out your MC's family life>

OR: Skip the columbarium family trip and have lunch with Qiu (at their workplace 💼; or lunch with Shay (includes an optional boxing 🥊 session and the potential to meet someone dear to them🍲).

Meet Qiu or Shay at a 'winter'-themed  funfair/carnival in the evening (or save it for a future Nat date)🧸🎄🍻 <win stuffed animals, drink mulled wine, sit on the lawn and... experience... snow(?)>

Bonus scenes at night if you choose not to go to the funfair (e.g. board games with Joony, write a song if you're a musician etc.)

✮ CH. 2 PART I ✮ 92k (+86k) -> 178k ✮

PLAY CHAPTER 2: PART I

It's here! First, sorry for the long wait. Chapter 2 has proven to be a behemoth, and I'd gotten sick this past week, my computer broke, my documents went kaput and I had to do some Frankensteining for the last few pages of this part. I'm not too worried, as Part II update can help smooth out all the kinks. I will definitely be looking for beta testers once chapter 2 is complete ha

Anywho! Enough about my problems. This demo update adds 86k words (86, 818 to be exact) and is the first part of a two part chapter. Which means the narrative in this chapter is not complete, but I kind of closed it off at a pretty satisfying place. As with every Infamous chapter, this is very character driven. So have fun!

What to expect in Chapter Two PART I:

get on the bus & deal with the consequences of your actions lol

arrive to your first tour stop and do your first gig...which might get messy (both literally and figuratively)

hang with a familiar father and daughter duo

have some heart to hearts/ some cheeky little POV passages

meet more BOTB crew and learn exactly what's in store for you this season

get roped in some ValenReign mess !

Maintenance:

this chapter has a lot of flavor text, or at least, more than the demo did, so if there are any errors or if there are lines that don't correspond with your choices, please let me know so i can fix that!

you will no longer be forced to write your own lyrics and the update will offer you pre-written lyrics by yours truly. im not t swift so i would advise you not to expect professional level songwriting, but they work well enough lolol

lyrics page is up as well as stats, but i don't really like the system i used to balance it, mostly because new...stat things will be added as the story goes on, so that's still getting reworked. still, good enough for now, as there are some personality stat checks!

Prologue and Chapter 1 errors/typos/grammatical bits fixed. (Wouldn't be surprised if I missed some though...) + variables updated.

Scenes not showing up fixed. hopefully, that huge error in which it throws you back to the fight after returning to the house is fixed (It was a bit wonky for me, hopefully it works for everyone else)

Stat and relationship pages updated ( + lyric page to look back at all your lyrics).

Can choose to be asexual and any sexual scenes will be skipped or replaced with romantic scenes. Flavor text in which MC displays any sort of sexual desire will be skipped. (This option comes up during Dakota's party scene. If not, it will show up when it presents itself again.) (Nothing sexual has come up yet, but if there are any scenes or even lines/ internal thoughts that should be skipped or changed for Asexual MCs, please let me know!)

If there are errors or anything, im always open. I've play tested but you girl is always prone to errors. As always, thank you for your love and enthusiasm! It makes me really happy and motivates me to keep writing ! <3

(Also, if you're thinking "omg amy how did you go from 65k to 86k?!" i don't want to talk about it /j)

Chapter 7 + Ash Hangout Public Update is now live! 🎉

The Chapter 7 and Ash Hangout update is finally here 🔥😁 I'm sorry for the slight delay, I had something urgent to attend to today and I just got home and I just basically went straight to my computer to upload this update.

Finally, we are starting to get into the ROs' first hangout sessions. Of course, to start us off, we'll have Ash's hangout session 😁This update adds around 31K of new words, bringing the total word count so far to around 356,701K words!

Anyway, this update also brings quite a lot of changes in the coding, especially for the skip chapter function, so I'm going to strongly suggest you guys play with clean save, either from the beginning or using the skip chapter function.

I have recently added another skip-chapter checkpoint, which is Chapter 3 in addition to the already existing one on Chapter 6. There is also now an autosave function at the beginning of every chapter starting on Chapter 2, so you'll be able to replay any chapter you're currently reading and try out different options in that chapter.

Anyway, enough of the technicalities.

Demo Version 1.1 Updates

Hey, y'all! 🤓 I'm feeling better after my food poisoning. I just updated the demo. Now, the changes are kind of minor plus I had a really busy week at my life-sucking corporate job lol...sorry. Also, the saves are broken so...sorry again. The stats screen is still incomplete, but I hope to update it soon to accurately reflect characters and relationships. Here's the updated demo.

Uncategorized Updates:

Added a quick build so you can customize your character, answer key questions, and then skip forward (if you want - sorry again about the saves!!) it's a lot of questions though so BE WARNED and don't come at me ahahah...;

Added some new variables in coding to properly track super simps 😬 AKA flirt all you want <3 but be prepared...

Made some edits so MC isn't as teasing (you can still tease/banter, but I tried to give additional options when it felt natural to do so.)

Updated Oracle Davina's pronouns to "they/them". The Oracle is NB and the game will reflect that moving forward. They will obviously be a part of MC's journey in their own way since they oversee the blessing of the gods, so I look forward to further highlighting them in the game. This is a decision that I've been thinking about for a while and based on what I know about them as a character, it feels right. If you see an error when interacting with the Oracle that refers to them as "she/her" or has the wrong tenses, please let me know so I can fix it.

Prologue Part II Updates:

After selecting MCs birth name, you'll confirm if that's the name to be used or you can enter a new one;

Can now choose the family motto choice during Constantine's introduction scene while simultaneously setting touch-averse;

Anna will no longer slap MC on the back of the head during her introduction scene;

Added additional choice for reacting to the Anna/James moment;

Added additional pet names. Might be some special flavor text in the future depending on your pet and name combo!

Prologue Part III Updates:

Added additional customization options when preparing for the ball, specifically: added laurel crown option, hair type, and (optional) facial features (like, freckles, scars...); For customization, if you see an option missing (for example, a specific hair type or eye color) that you want, simply ask and I'll be happy to include it. I'm not purposely trying to leave any out;

Added an additional choice for responding to James when preparing to enter the ball;

Added additional choice for reacting to Vivian when showing up late to the ball;

Added a couple additional choices for interacting and/or reacting with F.

Added additional choice for Constantine's last scene at the ball. (When MC is interacting with James, Vivian, etc.)

Revised after-ball scene with Anna and MC. Additional choice has been added.

If there are any typos/errors, or game-breaking errors (sorry), let me know and I'll fix them as soon as I can. This isn't necessarily the last update to the demo as I have a few more places I can add some additional choices, including Chapter I, but those need some consideration first.

Quick note: Thank you for all the feedback on the demo. Please know, that it's perfectly acceptable to send me feedback that doesn't include praise, etc. Seriously! The only reason I was previously a bit sensitive to feedback is a.) this is the largest amount of people to ever look at my writing which brings a lot of anxiety and b.) some of the scenes were reported as triggering and I never want to trigger another person so I really hated that any of you experienced that! Again, feedback is fine, and don't feel like you need to do a praise sandwich to offer it. Thank you!!

The public demo has just been updated with the first half of chapter 5. Elaine and her family have arrived in Lothia in preparation for her upcoming wedding to Gareth. The engagement has taken the castle by storm. Lot is dead set on the engagement while Morgana vehemently opposes it. Explore the aftermath of chapter 4's shocking revelations while navigating the rising tensions, and find some time for your day to day life. Meet Elaine - make a friend or fall in love however inadvisable - deal with Lot, prepare for the wedding and make time for your history lessons.

Besides all that we have some changes made to earlier chapters:

Reworked Nimue's conversation in chapter 1. Added a new dialogue option

Morgana's first POV in chapter 3, confronting Arthur has been polished and expanded a bit Changes have been made to chapter 4 to reflect that Mordred also keeps in touch with Guinevere if they're close to Arthur (she is not present at the birthday party but she is mentioned in correspondence)

Yes, Death is still alive and kicking, and I am as well! 💀

I know this is rather unexpected, especially after the lack of any updates this last year, but I'm back and I owe you all an apology.

Life kicked me in the butt while mocking me that I should still be grateful to live another day. Shit happened and I'm not proud of how I acted. I took a step back from the Abyssal to heal, but I neglected my lovely readers while doing so. I'm not one to openly mope, but I received a lot of concerned asks and I thank every single one of you for still caring about my sorry behind 😊

Now, let's focus on the good part of this whole mess. I've got some news!!

Firstly, The Abyssal went through a considerable rewrite, nothing major but a few passages were added and other pieces were slightly changed. You guys will notice the difference, I hope.

Rescue—adopt?—a little kid;

Two interludes were added.

Choose to wear a mask or a veil, and pick between many designs of masks for your Death to wear;

Second part of Chapter 2 is focused on world-building, lore, and Éoin's life as a mortician.

Secondly, a list of small things that I added:

Around 15k words were added to chapter one and 12k to chapter two. The demo now has a total of 100k words;

Now the choices that will unlock the madness and fury domain are labeled.

Added time and location to each memory jump to better situate the reader.

Make sure to check the show stats option! I'll be adding details about the characters and the world of Hylaria there with every update.
