i saw someone point out the frequency with which liberals back social justice movements... how, for instance, when ferguson happened under obama it was not popular and there were many, many liberals who found the blm movement, in a sense, "in violation of [liberal] sensibilities" (when liberalism as a rule does not challenge the status quo, only maintains it and sees any call for revolution or real change as disruptive or 'bad for optics' and therefore not acceptable) but then when trump became president and he opposed blm a lot more liberals decided that the blm movement had merit because they viewed it from a team-sports perspective rather than a worldview based on morals and an understanding of the systems in place in the U.S. - that it was more comfortable for them to operate from a "trump bad" basis rather than "the american justice system and the police are inherently white supremacist, which are inherently, automatically, and always violent"
+ that, if trump was president while israel is carrying out its genocide, liberals would have NO problem denouncing israel and demanding for a ceasefire because they're comfortable operating from the 2-party system basis, NOT from a framework based on material conditions or factors or any acknowledgement or analysis of imperialism, colonialism, or capitalism. but because biden is a democrat, and democrats are supposed to be "the decent party" "the lesser evil" "more respectable" when, in functionality - in real practice, they don't want to disrupt the status quo. (internally, maintaining systems of white supremacy and capitalism; externally, furthering U.S. imperialism by maintaining hegemony and continuing the practice of exploitation and extraction of labor+capital+resources from the global south)
which is why we're here, a month into a genocide, and liberals are so cowardly and gutless that, in the face of our democrat president allowing and funding the genocide of palestinians in order for the U.S. to maintain its military base in the middle east, liberals IMMEDIATELY jump to "well, you HAVE to vote for him still, because trump will be worse!" and go "well im powerless there's nothing i can do", immediately folding like a wet paper bag in the face of the american empire rearing its ugly head in the most blatant, naked way in years, instead of thinking "this is unacceptable, i should pressure my elected officials and do everything i can - be it combating propaganda, contacting my congresspeople or senators, protesting, or engaging in direct action - to ensure this stops as quickly as possible".
there are liberals STILL IN MY NOTIFICATIONS who go "well you'll be electing a fascist if you vote for trump" not realizing that YOU CAN'T SIMPLY VOTE FASCISM AWAY. (which is not to say you should vote for republicans; that's not what i'm saying. none of us have said it.) we're pretty much already there. it's 2003 all over again, with the patriot act and all. the american war machine is pumping out racist, orientalist, pro-colonial, pro-genocide propaganda on behalf of the ethno-state america and its allies have backed since the so-called state's inception. people are being doxxed, fired, harassed, and attacked for visibly supporting palestine/opposing israel. islamophobic hate crimes are on the rise; a 6 year old boy was murdered not one month ago, an arab doctor in texas was stabbed to death. antisemitism is on the rise as well, thanks to the conflation of antisemitism with anti-zionism (which nazis have and will attempt to co-op in order to 'justify' + then act on their antisemitism, racism, and genocidal worldviews). our government is silencing people, brutalizing protestors, and arming and funding an ethno-state committing genocide - everything that would have been called fascist if it was under trump. but because it's a *democrat* liberals place "vote blue no matter who" and "optics" over the extremely basic moral stance that "genocide is wrong and people have the right to self-determination, autonomy, and life". arabs and muslims are already so dehumanized in the west that liberals (whether they consider themselves liberals or not) consider it an inconvenience to talk about the ongoing genocide that is happening with the blessing of OUR government. in this they expose their selfishness, the shallowness of their morals, their chauvinism, and their racism/orientalism/islamophobia/et cetera.
for example, if you see israeli troops waving a gay pride flag and the israeli state touting its support of gay people while said iof soldiers are murdering men, women, and children en masse every single day and you somehow????? think that because gay people are the ones doing the killing or a state claims to support gay people is doing the killing is ok then 1) you have fallen for pinkwashing propaganda and 2) that you find the murder of palestinians, or any people, permissible by a colonial force that uses causes liberals may genuinely care about in order to disguise, whitewash, or "lessen" the severity of the injustices it does unto usually black and brown people outside of the U.S., then you are just as bloodthirsty and depraved as anyone you would personally assign those descriptors of.
once again, it goes back to resorting to a team-sport understanding of the world rather than approaching it from a material one.

Just a genuine reminder, simply liking and reblogging posts or just paying attention to what's happening in places like Palestine, The Congo, Sudan, Yemen, Syria, etc. Does help!
If you can't donate or boycott because you're a minor or in a situation where you can't afford to try signing petitions and spreading awareness so others who can afford to can have information
Edit: there are a lot of good suggestions for what to do in the reblogs that I forgot to mention

Joe Biden is SMOKIN'! VOTE BLUE The SOTU Speech was AMAZING in breadth and consideration. Meat was on those bones! Please GOOD People,... VOTE BLUE in 2024! Help boost - us all - into the Future! I am voting for Joe. I am going to fight for Joe, and I ask each of you, to stand with Joe, and his vision of a better world. This life is worth the living. There is beauty, wonder, and hope, wherever you set your eye. Why, in our short spans, must we focus such time and energy - on making bombs, bullets, and tears? We should be focusing on dancing shoes, guitars, and making - meals - to share - with friends and neighbors, knitting closer - more supportive - communities. Only the living - can work to make this world a better place. While We live and breathe,... let's focus on making smiles, gardens, and dreams, blossom and grow. NYAB says,... VOTE for Women's Choice 'to bear and to carry'. VOTE for Voting Rights security! VOTE for Safety in the schools and on the streets. VOTE for Environmental protections! VOTE for those to come after. VOTE for Working to find answers to problems. VOTE for a guy willing to work - more than - to cheat at golf. The answer is simple,... We need Joe - and Joe needs U.S! Semper fi!

Power to the People.
Trump is the only person running for President that can restore America to its full potential.
Trump 2024
Obama has that look because he knows that he has unleashed the DOJ and FBI to derail the Trump Administration. Michelle looks sick! We have to laugh! Help Trump have the last laugh!!

Right now is the time to get involved in the defeat of America's most dangerous enemy since the Cold War.
The traditional election season, starting on Labor Day, is a thing of the distant political past. And considering the magnitude of the threat to democracy, even waiting for the end of the primary season may be too late.
The worst president in our history is, arguably, stronger within the leadership ranks of the Republican Party than he has ever been. He is now the most dangerous presidential candidate in U.S. history. As a consequence, the great question before the rest of us is whether enough of us are ready to do whatever is necessary to defeat this threat as we have all those that have come before. Sadly, there is reason to believe that this time we may not meet the challenge. Right now, Donald Trump is one of two people who could be our next president. The race, at the moment, between him and President Joe Biden, is too close to call.
The people with their heads up their ass over Biden's age are either hypocrites or dissemblers. On Inauguration Day 2025, Donald Trump will be 95.66% of Joe Biden's age. And Trump will also be older in January of 2025 than Biden was upon assuming office in 2021. Biden may have a lifelong stutter but he is still grounded in reality in a way the narcissistic nepo baby Donald Trump never was.
Joe Biden by any objective metric has been one of the most successful presidents in modern U.S. history. He has led the creation of more major legislative initiatives benefiting the American people than any president in 60 years. He oversaw the creation of more than 14 million jobs during his first three years in office. He has brought down inflation and reduced the prices of vital medicines to affordable levels. He has restored American leadership worldwide, expanded our vital alliances like NATO, and stood up to our enemies. All presidents face challenges and make missteps. But it is hard to deny that in the wake of the U.S. economic recovery, the passage of the American Rescue Plan, the Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill, the CHIPs and Science Act, and the Inflation Reduction Act, the expansion of NATO, and the creation of new Indo-Pacific alliances, Biden’s record is formidable. That a president with this record is in a horse race with a candidate who is a menace to the country, who led an insurrection, who is a pathological liar whom courts have found to be a fraud and a rapist, and who has no real ideas, no credible policy proposals, no record of actually ever achieving anything for the American people is chilling.
In normal times, over 40% of US voters would NOT pick a notorious sex offender for president. But these are not normal times.
You would have thought that the sight of mobs carrying Trump flags and weapons and chanting for the death of Vice President Mike Pence on January 6, 2021, would have been alarm enough. You would have thought the same of Trump’s Access Hollywood tape, in which he confessed his impulse to abuse women. You would have thought the two dozen women who accused him of abuse would have had that effect. Even if none of those things were quite warning enough, you would have thought the findings in the E. Jean Carroll case would have been enough. After all, respected federal judge Lew Kaplan wrote, “The fact that Mr. Trump sexually abused—indeed, raped—Ms. Carroll has been conclusively established and is binding in this case.” It should have been enough. But so far, it has not been.
And who would have thought that the party of Ronald Reagan is now led by a stooge of the Evil Empire?
You would have thought that Trump reaching out on national television to our Russian adversaries for aid during the 2016 campaign would have been enough. You would have thought the conclusive findings of every major U.S. intelligence agency that Russia sought to aid Trump’s campaign would have been enough. You would have thought that Robert Mueller’s finding 10 instances of possible obstruction of justice by Trump would have been enough. You would have thought Trump kowtowing to Vladimir Putin and taking his word over that of our intelligence and law enforcement communities would have been enough. You would have thought his illegally withholding aid to Ukraine to seek dirt on Joe Biden would have been enough. You would have thought his impeachment for that would have been enough.
Are you willing to spend more time and money than in previous election cycles to end a major threat to Western democracy and to undermine homegrown fascism for at least the rest of this decade?
So, ask yourself, is that enough to make you do more than you have done? Is that enough to commit for the next 10 months to do more than you have ever done during an election year? To give more? To canvas more? To spread the word more? To help get voters to the polls? To ensure every member of your family, your friends, your co-workers do the same? The stakes are too high to do less than everything you can.
I rarely quote Margaret Thatcher and would probably disagree with at least 90% of her views. But she did know something about winning elections and combating the USSR. If she was good for just one thing, it's for this observation in a speech made in her retirement.
[N]o battles are ever finally won; you have to go on winning them by example and by being prepared to defend your way of life against those who would attack it.
If we learn just one thing from the Trump threat, it's that we can never rest on our past laurels. A slacker democracy is one which will not outlast a determined demagogue.
Civic involvement by pro-democracy citizens is absolutely necessary to maintain freedom.

A few thoughts in re: working elections:
We need more people doing it. DESPERATELY. We are BEGGING YOU TO WORK FOR YOUR LOCAL BOARD OF ELECTIONS. In New York State, it's a four-hour training one day and then a full day on Election/Primary Day (you can also work early voting but it's not required).
If you can get those four days days off from your work, I BESEECH you to do it. We are staggeringly understaffed; 90% of our workers are over 50 and are overwhelmingly WOC. That's because these jobs are seen as menial and unglamorous, which they are.
(FTR, not one of the women I work with is retired. They have other jobs that they took off for this.) I was at my polling location for two hours after polls closed last night because of a technical issue that we didn't have enough workers to handle in a timely fashion.
It is a difficult and tedious job and you don't get paid much (you do get paid though, that's nice). It's also absolutely essential to our democracy and, not to put too fine a point on it, I'd like at least some of the people who talk politics all day to actually WORK for it.
If you can't/don't want to do it, that is totally fine—you should absolutely still care and talk about our politics and electoral issues! But please consider checking out your local BoE and attending an info meeting at least. I've met wonderful people working here; you will too.

If you’ve ever gone to protest a Republican event you can see them passing out signs to the actors they hired from Craigslist. You can also see them changing hats and t-shirts and then parading in front of their hired Nazi videographers who will later edit it into a propaganda video. The high point comes when their provacateurs deliberately fire up non-white counter protesters and then portray them as violent radicals in their edited video clips.

Sick and tired already of American liberals immediately trying to somehow make what's happening in Brazil somehow republicans fault.
It's literally Fucking Democrats.
You wanna be mad at people spreading right wing ideology and platforming extremists? Blame Democrats.
Republicans arent the ones intentionally platforming extremists in the first place. ACTUAL normal Republicans are PISSED that they keep losing to extremists who run on a Republican ticket. And they're even more pissed that most people wouldn't even KNOW about the extremist candidates if it wasn't for Democrats intentionally shoving them into people's faces with campaign ads "raising awareness" about extremist candidates.
Democrats may talk shit about Trump but they love him as a candidate even more than Republicans do. Even fucking Bernie Sanders. Yeah. The "left-wing" socdem everyone simps over? He likes Trump too.
Democrats have incentive to keep Trump supporters and extremists on the ballot and they've admitted it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Republicans are MORE divided over trump than Democrats are.
Take as much time as you need with that.
Then, when you're over it start demanding that Democrats who pretend to hate Trump in interviews and press conferences only to turn around and fund, platform, and aid far right campaigns... Be removed from office.
Demand they stop HELPING trump's picks. Republicans are NOT fucking doing that. They're doing the opposite. Why? Cuz it's costing them seats. Which, sure okay might be a little biased of a reason but at least they fucking have a reason. At least they're TRYING.
Tumblr media
No, I don't want Republicans in charge of anything either but you know what I would NEVER risk to stop it? Putting a fucking white supremacist on the ballot and helping right-wing ideology spread globally JUST so a Democrat can have a seat instead.

Ukraine fights for their independence, russia seeks to end that independence.
Palestine is having a genocide committed against them, isreal is committing that genocide
That is why Ukraine and Palestine are right and Russia and Israel are wrong. All leftists should know this, yet why do you take a stance “neutral” or against Ukraine? Is Ukraine not in the same situation as Palestine, are they not both countries being invaded by horrible countries intent of killing every single one of them. Are they not both countries who are having horrible acts committed upon them and their civilians.
I stand with Ukraine and Palestine, give them both aid
