FORMS OF DEMIGRA
These are all of Demon God Demigra’s different looks from Dragon Ball Xenoverse and Dragon Ball Heroes. Demigra only had two forms in his debut appearance in Xenoverse, and that second form was a letdown to say the least. One thing the Heroes continuity was good for was expanding on Demigra and giving him other forms, with his Transcended Form and Dark King Form(s) being far more Final Boss-worthy than the Beast Form.
Yeah, I know that last one is actually Mechikabura's ultimate form, not Demigra's, but it fucking should've gone to Demigra, dammit!
ADDITIONALLY, imagine if we were to work Syn/Omega Shenron back into a modern DB continuity but he's evil because he's been influenced by Demigra, thus making him part-demon? His design bears some striking features in common with Demigra after all:

Super Dragon Ball Heroes 37-40
Tumblr media
Take a good look, because Cell doesn’t move from this spot for the rest of this arc. :(
Tumblr media
Last time, Goku got some help from Hearts, a dead bad guy from earlier in this web anime.  They then went to rescue Vegeta from an alternate version of Goku Black, and then they got rescued by Cell, of all people.  They take shelter in a cave, where they discuss the situation, along with additional allies that were revealed but not identified in the previous episode: Gohan, Krillin, 17, and 18.
To clarify, this planet is Earth, but not the Earth of Universe 7.  We’re in a new universe, the one created by Fu’s Universe Tree in Episode 32.  This new universe is an incomplete copy of Universe 7, so it has all the same planets and buildings, but no people.  Apparently there’s senzu beans, Dragon Balls and Dragon Radars just lying around, but I don’t understand how the Dragon Balls even work when there’s no Namekian present to sustain them.
Tumblr media
This group is joined by three demons: Putine, Salsa, and Shroom, who calls himself a “former” demon.  Hearts and Cell already explained that it was Demigra who brought them out of Hell and into this universe to help resist Fu.  I don’t think they know who Demigra is by name, but that’s the idea.  I think Shroom, Putine, and Salsa are all working for Demigra too? And they probably brought Krillin’s group from Universe 7?
The main thing about all the Demon characters is that there’s two main factions.  One, the Dark Empire/Time Breakers, are usually led by Towa, who often seeks to elevate a Dark King to power, like when she restored Mechikabura, and then later empowered her own son, Fu.
The other faction, Demgira-gun, is led by Demigra, a self-styled “Demon God”, whose primary goal is to seize control of Tokitoki, the Divine Bird of Time, which will allow him to become a time-god or something.  He and his minions keep popping up to sabotage the Time Breakers’ plans, presumably because Demigra sees a Dark King as a threat to his own agenda.
Now, at the moment, Shroom, Salsa, and Putine appear to be working for Demigra-gun, but I’m not sure how deep their loyalty runs.  Some of these demons switch sides a lot, and I think some of them are double-agents.  Or maybe they’re only helping Demigra for the same reasons Cell and Hearts are working with him.  They share a common enemy in Fu, but that might be all it is. I suspect that if Demigra were the one threatening the status quo, Putine might be teaming up with Towa.
Tumblr media
Anyway, Shroom “explains” that in this new universe, Black has been “using” Fu to carry out the Zero Mortals Plan.  From here, he’s been killing mortals in this universe and the original multiverse.  I put “explain” in quotes because I don’t understand how or when this happened.
Okay, so Fu created the new universe in Episode 32.  We’re up to like 37 right now, and barely any time has passed.  And yet, the idea here seems to be that Fu somehow retrieved a Goku Black from an alternate timeline, and told him what would happen to him in his future.  Goku Black then resolved to fight Gokus from other timelines, defeating 100 of them so that he could gain better mastery over his own body.  Then he set up shop in this new universe, where he’s supposed to be killing the mortals who live there.  Except... there aren’t any?  The Time Patrol said in Episode 32 that the New Universe is uninhabited.
Maybe the idea here is that Goku Black is the reason that it’s uninhabited, but if he killed the entire population of the new universe, then why does its West City look so pristine?  You’d think there would have been a battle.  Or maybe the idea is that Goku Black is just using the new universe as a way to safely attack the original multiverse.  We saw that damage to buildings in the new universe would cause similar destruction in the original, except there might be people in those buildings in the original world, so Goku Black could use that to his advantage, destroying major population centers that are empty in the new universe but full of filthy mortals in their counterpart.  Except... again, we don’t see any destroyed buildings.  He blew up a planet in Episode 36, so maybe he just hasn’t gotten to Earth yet, but I’m still confused.
Tumblr media
So the situation is grim, and Black needs to be stopped, so Vegeta is arguing in favor of accepting Cell’s assistance.  It disgusts him, and it must disgust the others even more, since he’s having to talk them into it, but he doesn’t see that they have a choice.  Cell agrees that he doesn’t want to work with them either, so their alliance will only be temporary.  Then he thinks to himself that he’ll fight the good guys later, but...
Tumblr media
... Hearts can read Cell’s mind, and he suggests that Cell set aside his future plans for now.
Tumblr media
Okay, so that’s settled, but Goku doesn’t think they have enough power to win this thing.  So Putine, Shroom, and Salsa open up a portal to a dimension like the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, where Goku and Vegeta can train for the battle while the others keep Black occupied.  Goku can use this chance to refine his Ultra Instinct, while Vegeta can master that “evil aura” power up he gained from fighting Cumber and Turles.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Goku Black reflects on his plan.  Okay, I think I get it now. He says that “soon” mortals will be born into this new universe.  He calls them “fake mortals”, so I guess they would be copies of the real mortals that live in Universe 7.  Black’s plan is to kill the copies, which will automatically kill the real things.  So it’s not that he’s already wiped out a bunch of people, it’s that he’s preparing to do that later on, as the new universe matures into being.
I’m still not sure what his connection to Fu is, since Fu’s the one that brought him here. I think this means Fu wants all the mortals to die from all of this?  Or maybe Goku Black is going into business for himself, but Fu surely would have expected the guy behind the “Zero Mortals Plan” to try something like this, right? It’s not like Goku Black never talks about it.
Tumblr media
Then the mysterious stranger shows up to attack him, and....
Tumblr media
... It’s another Goku.  Fuck dammit.  I don’t know if this is some edgelord AU version of Goku, or this is some other clown who stole a Goku’s body.  I guess it could be another character who just happens to look like Goku, such as Turles, Bardock, or Goten.  Maybe it’s Goku Junior from the GT TV Special? That’d be a weird twist.
Tumblr media
Krillin and Gohan’s squad try to jump in to help the mysterious Brown Goku.  That’s what I’m calling him now.  I will not be accepting critiques.  But before they can help, three more assholes show up: Dr. W, Bojack with bigger hair, and Super 17 with a mask on.  Okay, let me unpack this, because I don’t understand Fu’s side of this at all.
During the Universe Creatuon Arc, Fu had a team of guys to help him: Bojack, Turles, Cooler, Dr. W., and Super 17.  Okay, fair enough.  Cooler and Super 17 never actually did anything in that arc.  The next time we see Cooler was in this arc, where he and Frieza chase Goku, and then Goku Black tries to use them for his own ends.  So I have no idea whose side Cooler is supposed to be on, or how Frieza got involved.
Super 17 still hasn’t done anything, but he’s got a mask now, so I don’t know what to make of that.  We won’t see him again during this arc, so I guess we’ll never know what he was supposed to do.  Turles was fighting Vegeta in this arc, and then he turned on Goku Black, so I guess he’s off Fu’s team.  Bojack and Dr. W are still on board.
Then we have Janemba and Broly, who seemed to help Fu, but I don’t know if they were even aware of what side they were on at the time.
Tumblr media
So I think that’s Fu’s whole group, but it’s pretty fluid.  Speaking of Fluid, Dr. W starts melting as he transforms into Dr. W’s... no, Dr. Wheelo’s true form!  Why would they treat this like some big reveal? Gohan and Krillin are the only ones here would would even know who Dr. Wheelo is, and the audience either figured out he was Wheelo from the start, or they never cared.
Tumblr media
Wheelo’s true form is basically a more humanoid-shaped redesign of his robot body from DBZ Movie 2.  Not bad, although I really wish they would have picked a brighter color scheme so we could see it better.  But that’s Wheelo’s whole aesthetic, so fair play to Toei, I guess.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Goku Black turns into a Super Saiyan Rose 3?  Or something?  He defeats the Brown Goku this way.
Tumblr media
Then he rips off the Vengeance Cannon again.  Up yours, Goku Black!  I ripped that idea off of the Special Beam Cannon fair and square.
Tumblr media
Then Goku and Vegeta show up and Brown Goku just buggers off, saying he has other things to do.  Fuck you, Brown Goku.  You look ridiculous.
Tumblr media
Look at this nonsense.  Why is he wearing a mask when the whole point is that he looks like Goku?  It’s dumb as fuck.
Tumblr media
They work over Goku Black for a bit, but he can absorb energy from all the other fights that have been going on, which makes him strong enough to handle their combined assault.  Also, he whips out a corrupted Scroll of Eternity from the Xenoverse games, and it produces...
Tumblr media
Majin Omega Shenron!  Sure, Okay.  I guess this sort of adds up, since Goku Black was using Dark Dragon Balls to control Frieza and Cooler earlier, so maybe if you use them all together you get an Omega Shenron.  Not sure where the Majin business comes in.
Tumblr media
But Cumber takes Omega Shenron on, and Hearts explains that he’s a villain who once fought the other version of Goku, presumably meaning Xeno Goku from the Time Patrol.  So Hearts and Cumber handle Omega...
Tumblr media
While Goku and Vegeta use fusion to deal with Goku Black.  Okay, so this is like the fifth time we’ve seen fusion, right?  We saw Vegito Blue take on Cumber, then Vegito 4 fought Cumber, then Gogeta Blue took on Hearts, then Vegito Blue and Vegito 4 vs. Fu.  Oh shit, I was wrong, this is the sixth fusion in this series!  Wild.
Tumblr media
The good guys win and their enemies vanish.  Then Brown Goku comes back with seven Dragon Balls and wishes everyone out of the New Universe.  Okay...
Tumblr media
Goku finds himself at the Universe Tree, and Fu now looks like a child with one wing.  He reveals that he merged with Dogidogi, the Bird of Catastrophe who also intervened to save him from Demigra’s Time Labyrinth.
Tumblr media
Oh, right, I forgot that Fu and Xeno Vegito were trapped inside of this thing, which is why we haven’t seen Xeno Goku or Xeno Vegito this whole time.
Tumblr media
Also, SSJ4 Broly is here, because why not?
Tumblr media
Gradually, everyone starts showing up to back Goku up.  Cumber and Hearts appear and Cumber insists on fighting Broly, which works for me.
Tumblr media
Vegeta and Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta also show up and they fuse into their respective Gogetas.  Eight fusions.  We’ve seen fusion eight times in this web series.  It’s only like 5 hours long.
Tumblr media
Not to be outdone, Fu reveals he has TWO wings.  You thought he was at his limit before?  With just one wing?  You fool!
Tumblr media
So in this form, Fu has some attack that de-fuses the Gogetas immediately, and he also removes the Vegeta from the battle by teleporting them away or something.
Tumblr media
Before he can destroy the remaining Gokus, the Supreme Kai of Time shows up and gives them some sort of huge power up.  They fire Kamehamehas at Fu...
Tumblr media
And it doesn’t fucking work.  Well, why would it?  This asshole just beat TWO GOGETAS IN ONE SHOT.  Toei broke their own broken power scaling nonsense.  Where do you go from here?
Tumblr media
Then Fu draws power from the Universe Tree itself.  Uh, why?  You were already winning, dummy!
Tumblr media
But not so fast, Goku accidentally taps into the Universe Tree’s power as well, and he manages to control it for himself, which evens up the odds.
Tumblr media
They have a standard-issue beam struggle, Goku prevails, and Fu vanishes.  Tokitoki brings back the Vegetas, and Hearts explains that Broly and Cumber ran off togehter to make out continue fighting.  Hearts asks Goku if he defeated Fu, and Goku replies with a definitive “probably”.  Fuck you, Super Dragon Ball Heroes.
Tumblr media
The Universe Tree has been completely drained of its energy, so now all that’s left is for Chronoa and Tokitoki to restore the original universes to normal.  There’s a short musical montage during this, but all we see are the same good guys just floating around watching Chronoa.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Brown Goku reports to some new lady and says that he successfully destroyed Fu’s new universe.  She asks if he saved his son, and he did, apparently.  I guess he’s one of those other brown guys in the back of this shot.  The lady says that it’s now time for her to reveal herself.  As I recall, this is Aeos, another Supreme Kai of Time, but we’ll see about her next time.
And that’s the New Spacetime War Arc.  Kind of a hot mess, as we’ve come to expect from this series.  It’s still pretty good for what it is.  Some of the fights in this seem to have a marked improvement in choreography and animation, and There’s a lot fewer randos just standing around not contributing to the plot.  I like that Cell got to be in this thing, but I’m also very irritated that he didn’t actually get to do anything.  Maybe he’ll be in the next arc, but I doubt it.

Top 10 Dragon Ball Villains
Tumblr media
Number 1. Cell - Cell is a Perfect villain. He’s got the traits of 3 main villains (Piccolo, Vegeta, & Frieza), along with some Goku elements in the mix, and it makes sense when you remember that he’s an android with the cells of the universes strongest fighters. Also he’s got the ability to absorb people, can perfectly copy techniques that would take years to learn, has quite the suave and charming personality in his perfect form, is extremely funny and snarky sometimes, is terrifying a lot of the time, and overall Cell was designed to be the endgame villain of Z, before Toriyama was asked to write the Buu Saga. Also he’s the SECOND villain from Z to be brought into Super, excluding Buu, only that time he’s now this Shin Godzilla inspired monstrosity with the appearance of his second form. Even in THAT state he was frightening! He’s on the same level as Frieza, but is held back by the fact that he was basically an endgame type of villain put in a penultimate setting. Still, he was and is the PERFECT, Non-Frieza, Dragon Ball villain from the get so in terms of concept and execution.
Tumblr media
Number 2. Frieza - What else is there to say about this douchebag that hasn’t been said already? Frieza is one of the most terrifying, entitled, ruthless, fake, genocidal, petty, vile, legitimately racist, and unapologetically evil villains to ever roam fiction, and yet he is still entertaining as all hell. Every word he utters is either filled with malice or sleezy, and when karma hits him in the face it’s all well deserved. God this bastard is a great hateable villain.
Tumblr media
Number 3. Zamasu/Goku Black - Cheers to the first villain that ACTUALLY sees himself as the hero in this series. Zamasu is a pompous asshole of a Supreme Kai with a god complex that stole Goku’s body in the future, and is hellbent on eradicating all mortals with the help of an immortal alternate timeline version of himself. At first he was Universe 10′s North Kai, meaning that he was watching mortals from afar, before becoming the apprentice of the Supreme Kai, Gowasu. However he wholeheartedly believes that mortals will always be violent savages who only exist to destroy, and the only reason why he became Gowasu’s apprentice was to change that. However after finding out about the existence of Goku, it didn’t take long for the growing darkness in his heart to drive him to come up with the idea to steal Goku’s body and create the “Zero Mortal Plan.” Zamasu himself acts very formal and humble, but he’s self-righteous and is preachy as all hell, both in the main timeline and the alternate future. Then there’s Goku Black, a self righteous prick of a god, and utter lunatic who enjoys the thrill of the fight, and the bloodshed that comes with it, played by none other than Goku’s english and japanese voice actors. And finally there’s Merged Zamasu, the fusion between Goku Black and the alternate Zamasu, and Zamasu’s truest self. A genocidal, self righteous, mad deity willing to do anything to ensure that his twisted sense of justice prevails. So in spite having a diabolos ex-machina ending to his arc, Zamasu is on the same level as Frieza and Cell.
Tumblr media
Number 4. Demigra (Xenoverse & Heroes) - I wasn’t big on him at first, but I realized that this guy was a good antagonist for Xenoverse & Heroes. Sure he only appears midway through the story, but he makes up for that by being quite the threat. Demigra was the former Supreme Kai of Time, before getting booted out of his position for some shady shit, and landing in the place that would soon become the Demon Realm. In short, he’s basically some kind of REAL Demon God, a true Satan figure, unlike Dabura and King Piccolo. So he continues to go on raiding the Time Nest, before being sealed away, but the more distortions in history happened, the closer he became to being free. Heck even while imprisoned, he could summon mirages of himself to alter history by corrupting allies like Piccolo, powering up foes like Buu, or straight up trying to piss off and control The God of Destruction! Oh and did I forget to mention that he revels in every bit of torment he causes, so he truly lives up to being a devil in that part. If you think he sounds like some Dragon Quest, Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy, or Fire Emblem villain, I wouldn’t blame you, but I think that’s what makes him stand out compared to other villains in the series. In short, Demigra is offputting at first, but that nature makes him stand out in a pretty good way. It’s such a shame he’s not in the mainline series.
Tumblr media
Number 5. Vegeta (Saiyan Saga) - Vegeta was at his best in Z, ESPECIALLY when he was the main villain of the Saiyan Saga. That arrogance, that persistence, that pride in being a living weapon, and the fear factor he brought to the table is truly unforgettable. God I miss having legit Saiyans as cruel as hell villains.
Tumblr media
Number 6. Broly (DBS) - The Non-Canon Z Broly was a pyschotic jock, and an okay villain who was motivated by an infant crying and being stabbed by King Vegeta. The canonical version of the character however is a lot less of a kill happy sadist and more of a gentle soul with the body and power of 50 nukes that he has no control over. He’s not truly a bad guy, but he was still a main antagonist, mostly because his horrid ass father, Paragus ordered him to fight Goku and Vegeta, and Frieza cause him to snap twice in the same day. Plus when he snaps and rages, he SNAPS AND RAGES LIKE A WILD ANIMAL. Sure he was only a villain for like one movie, but his time as an out of control weapon is still great. Congrats Toriyama on making a weak ass non-canon villain into one of Super’s best antagonists.
Tumblr media
Number 7. Piccolo (OG Dragon Ball) - Before Piccolo was the team dad and the braincell of the Z Fighters, he was the Demon King Piccolo, the evil half of the namekian, Kami, and Goku’s greatest foe. He was terrifying at times, but he also had this level of theatircality to him. Also, in terms of “Big Bad Satan” Archetypes, as King Piccolo, he was pretty good. After he’s offed by a kid Goku. However King Piccolo spat out an egg at the a few seconds before he died, and a few years later we get to King Piccolo’s reborn self, simply named Piccolo Jr, a younger and stronger copy of himself with his soul and memories intact, who’s out get revenge on Goku. And after being defeated for the second time, they became rivals, a few years later in Z they team up against Raditz, Piccolo takes in Gohan, and the rest of his well written redemption arc is histoy.
Tumblr media
Number 8. Beerus - He’s a cat destroyer god with the personality of a cat, how was he NOT a good villain? He only eats, sleeps, blows up planets, and acts like an ass. Like this guy tried to blow up earth after his pudding got eaten by Majin Buu! Sure he’s not an active villain, and he’s currently on Goku and the Z-Fighers side, but let’s be glad it’s staying that way.
Tumblr media
Number 9. Cooler - He’s basically Frieza’s pompus, envious, and slightly insecure older brother. Literally anything one could say about Frieza can qualify to Cooler, however there’s noticeable differences, outside of the more masculine appearance. He’s less got less of a faux politeness, actually inspires loyalty in his soldiers, and is a lot more pragmatic in general. However, just like his brother, he falls into similar traps.
Tumblr media
Number 10. Android 21/Vomi - Ah yes, this bitch. Android 21 was the main villain of Fighterz, and a pretty damn good one. She’s kinda like a mix between Majin Buu and Launch from the OG series, with some scientist elements sprinkled inbetween. By that I mean she’s got two different personalities, a calm and collected scientist with some semblance of a heart, and a literal pyschotic power hungry monster that can absorb people by turning them into sweets. Out of all the modern DB villains, she’s one of the better ones. Oh, she also is designed after Dr Gero’s wife, Yomi.

One of my favorite headcanons right now for demons (like, specifically the type characters like Demigra and Towa are) is that the whole big lizard form & makyouka form Demigra has is actually like....a weird form of a "true form" for them?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I knowwww canon says it's a demon god thing but I don't careeee it's way cooler if demons can just Do That. That becoming a big lizard or a smaller big lizard is just a natural thing for them....they just don't use it as much because their society has a high focus on beauty and physical attractiveness. At least I figure that because almost all the adult demons we see in canon are like, really pretty imo.
Doesn't mean ALL demons focus on looking pretty, it's just a societal thing. They're trying to one-up kais and try any odd way of doing it.
But yeah like, I just headcanon them to naturally have more reptile-y features (mostly snake-like ones) because of the lizard forms. The form just comes packaged with becoming an adult in their biology. So, that means even mass cellular amalgamations like Mira naturally have it too.
Those lizardy forms probably only pop out for most when they feel threatened enough, want to intimidate people, or even during intense emotional outbursts.
Also like, those forms don't exclusively look exactly like Demigra's. A lot of them may often manifest as more similar to other reptiles like snakes, iguanas, etc. Some can even look like non-reptilian animals, as Salsa's is more like a cat/fox/rabbit hybrid.
Tumblr media
But yeah, thats my rambling rn. I just think it'd be cool if they went the extra mile and let them be silly little terrifying creatures like this.

Do you have any DBZ AU's? I feel you could make something interesting with your knowledge on the characters.
OH BOY DO I. would you believe most of them involve Cell in one way or another. lol. But heres a few of my big ones/favorites! feel free to ask me about them!
Earth Centric AU, where Raditz does not come to Earth and things change like dominoes falling for the Dragon Team (Old cast pic below) a collab with dear friend @pussyfootmaneuver. this has the Most effort put in it by far. we also have a GT rewrite but we havent talked about that as much
Tumblr media
Domestic Androids
This isn't really an AU, more just a silly bit of talking points inspired by art ive seen over the years of all the androids + gero + cell being some sort of stupid family unit. Cell is their horrible bugdog that bites them and will one day be capable of human speech, but in the mean time 17 and 18 will make him jump through hoops and join pet shows
Tumblr media
Royal Scientist AU
This is an au that involves an OC AGJDSAF it started with a line of questioning from my friend moth about Grendine and Cooler, and it sort of evolved into their mutinous romance after Cooler is the ones who picks Grendine up instead of the Time Patrol in order to recruit their scientific prowess to help defeat his father and brother and take over the empire. they eventually have a child named Tempar but that Also splits into 2 aus ajhgdssdg, one where Tempar is born normally, and another where Cooler Movie happens and he gets himself killed so Grendine makes their weird baby in a test tube while cooler is being assimilated into the Big Gete Star going "i miss my evil milf scientist"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What if Goku was Gay? A Very normal DBZ What if Youtuber Video
Tumblr media
We'll get to this one in due time.
And here's a bunch of little ones that I will describe briefly!
What if Bulma raised the "cell" in geros basement and he basically was her fail gay son who didnt care about fighting?
What if uub was never trained by Goku?
What if Buu was punished by the gods and turned into a human?
a FEW variants on what if cell became good
What if Cell was made with Buu genes and the timeline was really confusing?
What if Demigra was SKoT and Chronoa was a Demon God?
my bias is Clear but ive never said it isnt! anyways im SURE theres more than this that ive forgotten over time but wheee

Now who are Towa and Cronoa? What are their Origins, Personality and Relationships in Canon and what makes you like them?
Oh god, two at once? And these two? Okay
Tumblr media
First off, their relationship in canon. They hate each other. One defends time, the other is trying to manipulate and destory it. Simple as.
Personality wise next.
Towa is very much super sexy 'ara ara' type but she is also cunning, a planner and a brilliant scientist. Out thinking her opponents and even when she looses, she wins
Chronoa, meanwhile, is a bit hyper active. Kind and passionate and caring. A supportive mother type who will still kick your ass if you make her job harder.
Why I like them?
Towa is sexy as hell. But she isn't JUST sexy. Just being sexy is boring. She is a brilliant scientist. Thinking, planning. Out witting.
And Chronoa... She just means well. She's working hard to do her job and has to deal with so much shit
Now, for their backstories
Towa is a scientist from the demon realm. An alternate plane of existence that was exhiled from time. She is also the younger sister of Dabura from the Buu arc. She created the super being, Towa, to fight for her and help her unlock the Demon Realm
Chronoa is the Supreme Kai of Time. She defeated the Demon God Demigra millennia ago and was given the power over time, as well as the job to maintain the timeline and to stop anyone from changing it. Not in a Spider-Verse 'break the canon' way, more "someone pops in and kills Goku while he's fighting Vegeta" kinda way

I'm playing dbz xenoverse 2 and loving it. Can I request something with Goku and or Vegeta? Where the reader is human a strong human but Fu wants to see her become stronger (I feel like fu is a bit of a creep and a little yandere 😅 ) so he uses the dragon balls to make her half saiyan. How would Goku and or Vegeta react to that? And the reader is a little panicked and asking them what they need to know about being a sayan other than being careful around a full moon.
Thank you for the request, but all the available request slots have been filled. Sorry about that.
But I do like this! So I can give you a general idea of how that would go because you used the magic words ♥
Tumblr media
Goku or Vegeta, or both because we share in this house, they're going to want to test just how much stronger you really are if you became half-saiyan
Not that they really needed to hold back on you before, but now it feels like they can really go for a true fight with you
Vegeta's your biggest source for intel move over cabba and tunks he's got a new favorite and will be the one to guide you through the basics of saiyans. Makes sure you don't let your emotions get out of hand as it does have an effect on the way you fight now. He'll make you mad to prove it. Show you how to tuck your tail around your hips and the proper way to train its weakness so you don't falter to it being grabbed.
Of course with how strong you already were, going through the first three super saiyan transformations is pretty easy with Vegeta's help.
While Vegeta's the one exposing your limits, Goku's the one who's gonna test them. You can really endure a lot more now. He's popping off SSB Kaoiken right at the start and coming at you. He purposely overpowers you to test your resilience, your fortitude, and you're overall focus in the face of someone stronger. Not at all expecting you to win, but of course he's gotta make sure you take what Vegeta's said about your emotions and use it to your advantage. You take that and keep pushing yourself, then you pass his test.
No need to worry about moons in Conton since it's always sunny, but should be careful anywhere else
And naturally, your appetite has shot up through the roof. You can almost out-eat them.
Tumblr media
How it happens
Guarantee, if Fu is behind it then it's already a messy matter. But it's probably not permanent either, as he's just making a fun change to view the outcome and take some energy from it which would set everything right again. Now take that, and say we up the creepy yandere factor. You're the one he would consider his first real friend since being able to utilize his power to alter history. For some reason, you can see through all his changes from the moment he made it so Demigra was The Supreme Kai of Time instead of Chronoa. And then you, a human, took on two super saiyan 4s in a dimension filled with god ki. You're already strong enough to undo all of his toying with history, but you never really stop him when you have the chance. It was foolish for Dabura to want him to destroy you, you're way too interesting for that! So he acted out against his uncle to save you and your friends, too. He could get to play with you more without those petty demon realm ambitions in his way. So long as he was free to do what he wanted, he could always do what was needed to get your attention.
Why, then, should Goku and Vegeta get to have you for themselves while he's forced to be hunted down by you. You're his friend too, he's not a threat to you. Never to you.
He can't stop you from interfering with his changes in history, the fun in that was getting to see you. But he would never allow you to endanger yourself beyond his help. You're strong for a human, and yet you could be stronger.
Saiyans can't help you with that no matter how hard you train with them. So maybe you need his help to do so. He steals a wish on the dragon balls where they are already gathered (the first of his time changes for your attention). He uses his wish to alter you and makes you into a half-saiyan, half-human hybrid. Tail and all. Because if he made you a full saiyan you would have more reason to hang around them.
You're definitely spiraling through a lot of emotions in your panic over your altered form, but you can't really take the time to make sense of it with that big change in history making itself known. You get sent out on your mission with your saiyan buds to fix it, but it just ends up worse.
Because how dare you bring them along with you. Fu's determined to prove he's out to help you, even if he must turn you against your so-called friends. You're connected to this change in history now, so you're easily influenced by the corrupted time energy from it that he manipulates.
Now you're acting completely different. From worrisome, to agitated, to full-on rage. Being half-saiyan now, you feel your power growing hot within you. Not only that, but the time energy that changed you is starting to run wild through you. Pushing you to fight everything.
Energy rising and blinded by Fu's influence, you can only feel yourself getting stronger and pushing through the transformations you did learn.
Fu's not gonna let you lose, of course. The more you fight them, the more energy is put off from the change in time, and the more energy he can give you. That is until Goku and Vegeta figure it out and abandon their fight with you to take on Fu.
In the end, Fu is forced to escape once more. With history restored and the correct wish made on the dragon balls, it's like the wish to make you half-saiyan never happened and you're turned back to normal.
At least until Fu next's experiment for you.

Dragon Ball New Frontier: Tales of the Time Patrol
Scars
The Time Patrol was enjoying a day of peace and quiet that they didn't usually get. One conversation going was consistent with the guys of the Time Patrol's best group, the multiversal Dragon Team, talking about their scars.
"No," Xeno Bardock explained. "This isn't the worst scar I've got."
GT Present Trunks then began to pull his shirt slightly, showing a massive stab wound scar on his left hip. "He's talking about one like this, right?" He asked.
"Yeesh!" Gohan responded with. "Whoever gave you that, got you good!"
Future Gohan then began showing the massive scar still present from the left side of his upper body. Much worse than the one over his left eye, the entire shoulder area as well as the armpit area were most definitely scarred. "This was given to me by my original versions of Androids 17 and 18, when I originally lost my arm," he said as he told the story. "Although I eventually got my arm back, the rest of the scar is still intact, as you can see."
Vegeta Jr, aka Vegeta the fifth the shows a scar on the top part of his right arm, all the way to the entire shoulder. "This was a gift from the evil Legendary Super Saiyan, Z Broly himself", the Clone and Adopted son of Vegeta proudly boasted. "Though we eventually defeated him, he was most definitely a worthy foe!"
Super Broly went next, showing his Achilles heel, which had a huge burn scar, that went up his lower leg. "A gift from Demon God Demigra, himself!" He said. "Out of commission for months afterwards so that it healed properly."
Goten then went next, removing his shirt and showing various scars on his upper body as he started looking for a specific one. "I've gotten plenty over the last hundred years," he said as he then began touching a scar on his right hip near his stomach. "But the worst that I've gotten has gotta be this one, right here. Impaled by a clone, similar to Copy Vegeta, of me. Everything I gave, he delivered right back."
Everyone looks at Goku Jr, causing him to sigh before he starts to remove his own shirt. "Alright, fine." He finally said as he struggled to take off the weighted shirt.
"Atta boy!" GT Present Trunks said. "Here, I thought you'd be sensitive and emotional about this stuff!"
"Really?" Goku Jr responded with. "So that's how you think of me...."
"Do you have any scars to show, before Kaka out does us all?" Xeno Goten asked GT Goten.
"No, not really," GT Goten said. "Plenty of stories, but nothing to really show for it."
Once Goku Jr removed his shirt, everyone could see various scars across his back and front areas of his upper body and even parts of the arms that the shirt was covering. Some of them are scars from getting slashed or stabbed, others being actual burns. "It's hard to say which one I've gotten is the worst in my opinion," Goku Jr said with honesty. "Although some of these, I don't remember much, mainly cuz I passed out or died shortly after obtaining them."
"Damn....." Most versions of Yamcha, Krillin, Tien and even Hercule simultaneously said.
"Did it hurt!?" Beat was heard asking.
"Again, little Bro," Goku Jr. answered. "I don't remember much with many of these."
"Judging from looking at these scars with my own eyes, that's probably for the best," GT Gohan declared bluntly.
"I got you beat!" Cabba declared. Causing everything to look at him. Cabba then placed his hand on Goku Jr's shoulder before he continued. "A Saiyan Princess as beautiful as the setting sun, shattered my heart like a mirror into a million pieces."
Everyone then began laughing as even Goku Jr was seen chuckling a bit.
"In that case, then I definitely got all of y'all beat," Present Trunks said. "Boy all the Ladies, I've met."
"Oh brother!" Goten said before everyone continued laughing.
"Joking aside," Goku then said. "He's Right. The worst scars can't be seen."

Ship bias for Shin
I ship him with Zamasu, Fused Zamasu, Goku Black.
I think he'd look so cute with contrasting types.. Def Demigra, Mechikabura, or Shroom... oh god Shroom would look so good...
Oh! And my OC's Tahinnia, Aburaca, and Solune. Tahinnia being the only female lol, but it's because she's all goth and tall. Solune has a lot of Zamasu energy, and Aburaca is a sexy demon guy, so they'd look super cute.

So, Majin Buu....
Tumblr media
Thinking back on the original Akira Toriyama Dragon Ball run, it's pretty clear to me more than ever that Majin Buu, the final major villain of the series, the Big Bad in the story arc the series ended on, was by far the weakest Big Bad out of all the powerful, action-based Big Bads, making him second weakest overall next to Commander Red. Yes, even Tienshinhan was an overall more satisfactory main antagonist compared to how Buu got by the end. And for the longest time I just sort of took that as a basic truth without really examining why it was. I'd thought the main reason for it was that the concept of him as this ages old evil that was only just now being pulled back into the present day limelight to be the new all-powerful threat to the universe to surpass the last all-powerful threat to the universe was really cheap, as it felt like Toriyama lazily re-doing the premise of King Piccolo only more ancient and a threat to even the gods of this world's cosmology and lore. But if I'm being totally fair and honest, that shouldn't necessarily be a definitive restraint on Buu from reaching villainous greatness. After all, Buu is also a great concept for a villain and an undeniably original, distinguished, uniquely Toriyama one at that. He so easily could've worked. Why didn't he?
This year of Toriyama's passing, it finally dawned on me - Majin Buu suffered from the same syndrome that would years later plague Xehanort from Kingdom Hearts. The syndrome of being a single character yet having so many different variations of him that feel like completely separate characters that makes it hard to reconcile them all as a single entity or to understand who that single entity is at the most fundamental level and what they're all about personally and in terms of narrative function. And indeed, it is only Buu who suffered this problem. Piccolo Jr. felt like the spawn/second lifeline of King Piccolo, Vegeta as a Great Ape still felt like Vegeta, Freeza in all of his transformations still feels like Freeza, Cell is still Cell in all three of his forms (even with his brainpower being more easily expended in the Semi-Perfect form), the Zamasus all feel like different variants of Zamasu, Moro, Mechikabura, and Demigra always feel the same, etc. Yet Majin Buu feels like he becomes four or five different people over the course of his saga, which gets either unnecessarily lengthy or incredibly rushed depending on the medium you're looking at it in!
So here's basically how I feel about the Majin Buus:
Tumblr media
Fat Buu, AKA Mr. Buu - Toriyama first created this character to be the Majin Buu, a complete subversion of expectations for how this all-powerful evil demon was built up versus how nonthreatening he appears to be once we meet him. The simple-minded, infantile, playful, whimsical and sweets-craving nature of this Buu is both the source of much comedy and becomes a source of tension that enhances the dread you feel whenever the deep malice he harbors within him comes out on display, as the tonal whiplash of this silly, chubby pink blob getting mad and doing horrible things is unnerving. But in addition, we're made to feel some sympathy for Buu since Babidi treats him in an abusive, exploitative way and it becomes clearer that for all the malice he has and all the wrongs he commits, Buu has the mind of a small child who does whatever he wants to do for fun in total innocence and naivete, not knowing or understanding what the morally right things to do and the right way to live are, and why things like killing other living creatures is morally wrong. The stuff with him and Mr. Satan is some of the best content in the entire saga, and it feels right that he joins the family and becomes one of the good guys in the end, even if not much really comes of that in future installments. I give him an 8/10, to me he's the Best Buu.
Tumblr media
Evil Buu, AKA Slim Buu - I mentioned the deep malice within Buu that he was born with, and this guy is the physical personification of it that Fat Buu conjures out from him during a breakdown where his desires are clashing with what he now knows about right and wrong. Visually, he's the exact 180 of Fat Buu - lean face and skeleton-thin body, open eyes that are black with white pupils, dark blue cape rather than a purple one, and he's the only Buu who's not pink but is instead gray. But he's the Mr. Hyde to Fat Buu's Dr. Jekyll, another side of the same person. Were Fat Buu to defeat him, he'd conquer his inner darkness, but instead this thing defeats and swallows Fat Buu, signifying that the inner darkness has won out and will change Buu's shape into something stronger and more evil. Ultimately this Buu has no personality to speak of besides "evil" and is only there as a plot device to up the tension and stakes again by becoming the new eviler version of Majin Buu who has no qualms disregarding the lessons he'd learned from Mr. Satan. However, he does get some extra points for killing Van Zant. 4/10, Basic Buu is Basic.
Tumblr media
Super Buu - I really like this Buu yet am really mad at him and have a bone to pick with him. 'Cause he feels so easily like the Buu I'd love the best after Fat Buu, owing a lot to a truly stellar introductory period, solid voicework in the anime, and much like Cell, some cool and catchy theme music from Bruce Faulconer in the US dub. He starts off so cool: popping his neck, yawning, sagging, screaming, and cackling maniacally in the course of seconds after he's formed, showing devastating power and killing Smitty in the most graphic and disturbing way, flying all the way to Kami's Lookout just to fight and kill his enemy, distinguishing himself from the well-spoken likes of Freeza and Perfect Cell by speaking very simply, responding to Piccolo's demand of him by simply and efficiently killing off the Earth's human population, nonchalantly turning a furious Chi Chi into an egg and not even bothering to eat her (he kills her by stepping on the egg), and retaining all of his hilariously childish dumbass qualities and sweet tooth yet possesing a raw, dangerously savvy cunning beneath his brutish exterior. And yet through all this, he it doesn't really feel like he's properly motivated in evildoing other than "he's evil", and more problems start to pile up once he and Gotenks are going at it in the Time Chamber dimention. For every golden moment he gets, he gets some ill-concieved moments (though in fairness, he shares them with Gotenks and Piccolo): it's he who instigates the "wall-breaking/plot-breaking scream". But not even that could ruin him. No, when he really does the unforgivable is when he turns into the next Buu. So he's a 7/10, should've been Buuetter but wasn't.
Tumblr media
Mystic Fusion Super Buu - Is just Fusion Super Buu when he absorbs SS3 Gotenks and Piccolo, the "Mystic" is added when he absorbs Gohan. Yeah, the problem is immediately apparent in that premise. Since when could Majin Buu absorb anyone and add their Ki power to himself? That was Cell's shtick, Majin Buu was all about transforming his prey into sweet treats and eating them up. He got the ability to take other fighters and their powers into himself from right out of Toriyama's ass! On top of that, he now looks hideous, with a long head antenna like SS3 Gotenks' long hair, a nose and facial features like Piccolo, and he trades out between Piccolo's, Gotenks', and Gohans' clothes, and neither look good on him! On top of that, his characterization changes as with Piccolo's intellect, he starts speaking in complete sentences and elloquently articulating everything which is just....no. Don't. This is killing Buu's unique vibe! On top of that, him defeating and absorbing Gohan is an utterly cruel slap in the face of any fan who might've actually wanted to see Gohan's ordeals and new power paid off by him being the hero to defeat Buu in the end like such a set-up would normally entail. And on top of all that, he's just a bore now. The whole section of the story where he's around has always failed to interest or excite me, he's just not fun to look at, watch, or listen to, and his existence is what derails Gohan's arc, brings Goku and Vegeta as co-heroes in the spotlight, and stretches things on the barren Earth out longer than necessary, including a gross, unwelcome trip inside of Buu's body! Near the end he loses his shirt and shows his character again, and we get the welcome return of classic Super Buu for one last stand-off, but that only bumps his score to 2/10. Buuuuuuuu, you suck!
Tumblr media
Kid Buu - Buu's final and also primal form. He's not only the most powerful, destructive, and maniacal Buu, but this is Majin Buu as originally concieved in-universe. When Bibidi first conjured him into this realm, he was like this - a living, breathing force of pure chaos who lives only for the slaughter and devastation that he finds fun. And he does work as being just that, retaining Buu's mixture of being comical yet also terrifying and dangerous. Almost everything that concerns him and the section in which he's the opponent/obstacle to destroy is perfectly fine, aside from Goku being the hero rather than Gohan and how drained you feel from all the earlier Super Buu antics, it all works and makes for a properly tense, thrilling and epic final battle against a worthy final boss for this saga. The issue with Kid Buu can found within his character set-up and in the way he gets implemented into the saga. We'd been given nothing foreshadowing his existence as the OG Majin Buu until after Super Buu has reverted to him. We had no reason to think that Fat Buu wasn't the default for Buu, nor any reason to think that this new Buu would be that much more powerful than the Buus that preceded him, making Kid Buu feel really, really cheap. For that matter, how does removing Fat Buu from inside of Buu revert him to Kid Buu yet Fat Buu expunging the Evil Buu from out of him didn't have that effect on either Buu? And as is said in this post, "Kid Buu’s defeat doesn’t feel as satisfying as it should because we barely spent time with him compared to Super Buu", and that when Kid Buu comes along to take Super Buu's place, in the manga it's in the last graphic novel volume of the series, the very same that began with Vegito VS Mystic Fusion Super Buu, while in the anime it's the point when "you’re about ready to scream “Oh my Kami, END already!” given how fatigued you are of watching Super Saiyans fighting this pink monstrosity by then. Ultimately, Kid Buu's a 7/10 - Buu Bye and guud riddance, Janemba did it better.
Tumblr media
Uub - The reincarnation of Kid Buu, who before getting killed had been Mystic Fusion Super Buu, and Super Buu was previously Evil Buu before eating Fat Buu, who Evil Buu came from making Evil Buu and Fat Buu two different variants of the same being, so that guy gets reincarnated due to a wish to Shenron by Goku even though Mr. Buu is still alive as a separate being....yeah, the dissociative identity of Majin Buu and the flimsy idea of all forms of Buu being the same character really collapses here, and fittingly on a character whose very existence and the reasons for it, in-universe and out of it, are completely nonsensical. If Goku really wanted to keep Majin Buu as a sparring partner but only if he was a better person, why not start training Mr. Buu so that his power could grow to match Kid Buu's? And are we really expected to believe and be okay with the idea that the successor to Son Goku ends up being not Gohan, not Goten, not even Pan, but the hastily introduced in the final two chapters reincarnation of the last villain who we were also only just introduced to in that very volume of manga? I can't pretend to know exactly what Toriyama was going for when he wrote the epilogue in those last two chapters and came up with Uub, but if that was his way of leaving the door open for Toei Animation to continue the franchise on their own terms, it's pretty telling that GT had no interest in picking up on this thread and rendered Uub completely worthless, and we've seen no more from Uub in the DB continuations we've had since. Uub and the ending associated with him were just a total Uuber failure. 1/10.

Fu, Xenoverse, and Canon Divergence as Fandom Exercise, Part 1: Xenoverse 1 and 2
Or, “I Played Through Legend Patrol and My Only Takeaway Was About a Xenoverse Sequel I Have Until Now Devoted Zero Thought To, Part 1: Why is Xenoverse 2 Like This™”.
A bit under two years after the first Xenoverse game, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was released in fall of 2016. The most recent piece of DLC as of this post, starring characters and content voted in by fans, released July 7, 2022, nearly six years after launch.
Tumblr media
Somehow, a Dragon Ball sequel game that by all accounts was poised to be the spiritual successor to the Budokai Tenkaichi games, and the release schedule that implies, has post-launch support more akin to a live service game. Considerably more sporadic support, granted, but support nonetheless. Which from the outside (and even from the inside) can seem utterly baffling. Why this game? Why not the first? Why not a 3?
The only thing I feel reasonably safe asserting is that it's because the people in charge saw intermittent DLC as more profitable than a whole new game, which in turn implies a large enough playerbase to purchase said DLC. As for why there is a large enough playerbase, there's a part of me that would like to think it's in no small part to a surprisingly robust and healthy modding scene on the PC, but a more likely reason is the simple fact that it fulfills a shockingly underserved niche of Dragon Ball character creation. The launch of the fastest-selling video game system in the Nintendo Switch just a few months later, paired with a Switch port within a year of launch, may have also played a part as well.
The Switch port in particular is interesting, not just in terms of implications it may have had on playerbase numbers, but also as the single platform where Xenoverse 1 is not available. While the story is by far one of the least important aspects of Xenoverse 2, it is still ostensibly a direct sequel to a game that Switch-only players do not have access to.
The developers' solution was to release a bespoke Legend Patrol DLC that included Xenoverse 1 base and DLC story content, two years after launch, which itself was just released to other platforms three years after that, which is roughly around the time of this post.
As someone who jumped straight into Xenoverse 2, I'd caught a fair amount of Xenoverse 1's story beforehand from watching playthroughs and... didn't think much of it. So when I saw people talk it up, in no uncertain terms, as better than Xenoverse 2's story, I was a bit intrigued. Xenoverse 2's story was very much nothing to write home about, and I remembered close to none of it, but what I remembered seeing of 1's didn't seem that much better, either? I don't know. I did watch an edited playthrough, maybe I'd have a different opinion after playing it myself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And now, having gone through the Legend Patrol and rewatched Xenoverse 2′s story content, I'm... still not of the opinion that Xenoverse 1's story is better in a noteworthy way. I guess it might be marginally better in terms of escalation? I recognize that my view of it is probably compromised by playing through 2's story myself first, but really the only lingering thought I had after it concluded was that they were really transparent about setting up Towa and Mira as the next major antagonists.
(It also has a scene where all the characters laugh and the camera pans up. Two of them, in fact. Which is... a choice.)
To (briefly) recap Xenoverse 1: the initial changes in time your character is sent to fix are the result of interference and energy harvesting by Demon Realm duo Towa and Mira. When one of their plans proves too much to fix, Demon God Demigra interferes and helps you out of the jam; not long afterward, you defeat Mira and send Towa packing, at which point Demigra quickly takes over as the primary antagonist and time criminal. After defeating Demigra, in a brief ending scene, Towa is seen retrieving a surviving portion of Mira, promising that they will have their revenge.
Tumblr media
As I said, really transparent.
So, come Xenoverse 2, sure enough, it's Towa and Mira who are the major antagonists. You initially get into scuffles with some movie villains new to 2, but it doesn't take long before the duo assert themselves as the big bads. I won't recap Xenoverse 2, but what I will say is that unlike 1, which very deliberately left the loose end of Towa and Mira hanging, 2... doesn't really have a comparable cliffhanger. Towa and Mira are gone, everyone has a big ol' feast courtesy of Shenron, caterer supreme, to celebrate the birth of a new... timeline? Universe?... and that's it. Credits roll.
Tumblr media
(They all laugh twice in 2, as well, but hey! The first time it zooms out, and the second time it pans to the left! Groundbreaking!)
Now, I know vanishingly little about video game development and release schedules, let alone the schedules for the Xenoverse games in particular, so this is largely speculation. But given the turnaround between Xenoverse 1 and 2, it seems likely to me that at least partially through Xenoverse 1's development, if not right from the get-go, they knew a 2 was going to happen, and wrote in an obvious lead-in to 2 as appropriate. And you would think that if a Xenoverse 3 was in the books, then they'd probably do something similar to set it up in 2, but they... didn't? What's up with that?
There is one fairly obvious answer, but before I address that, there actually are some loose ends in base Xenoverse 2, both in the form of post-credits content. In the first Xenoverse game, there is post-credits storyline that ostensibly involves cleaning up after Demigra's demise, but is rather transparently a post-hoc justification to work in fan favorites Bardock and Broly into a game that otherwise does not acknowledge any movie not called Battle of Gods.
Tumblr media
Xenoverse 2, meanwhile, uses its two post-credits story missions to pose some questions. The first mission fills in the gap of what happened with Mira and Bardock before Towa retrieves Mira and reveals that Bardock just... vanished.
Tumblr media
Interestingly enough, you get the option to speculate that Bardock either disappeared or is fighting elsewhere, which I suppose sets up some intrigue as to what might happen if he resurfaces, I guess?
The second mission shows a deviation in Future Trunks's (that is, your Trunks's) timeline. Whereas in the main story, you stop Trunks from tagging along with Future Gohan and Trunks accepts letting Gohan die, in this timeline Trunks knowingly violates the rules he, you know, upholds as part of his job, and joins Gohan to fight the androids, eventually defeating them, saving his mentor's life, and discussing the prospect of preparing for the future threats.
Tumblr media
Notably, you do not step in to correct things; you (the player) control Gohan and play out the distortion, and while your superiors, the Supreme Kai of Time and Elder Kai, remark that this really shouldn't stand, the Supreme Kai of Time merely asks you whether or not you think the timeline should be fixed or not, then... says she'll make an unspecified final decision? And that's it?
Tumblr media
This has proven to be controversial (or at least, as controversial as anything involving the story of Xenoverse 2 can be). The implications are a bit staggering. While it's never confirmed if the Supreme Kai of Time ended up correcting that distortion or not, just the mere fact that she was canvassing your opinion on it and seemed to entertain the possibility of letting it slide sure makes it seem like the person in charge of keeping the the flow of time consistent is willing to overlook a major deviation or two in the interest of... throwing her employee a bone? Throwing a version of her employee a bone?
Tumblr media
All in all, a weird choice and execution for what is the last bit of story content in Xenoverse 2. But it does confirm the extent to which Trunks and, to a lesser degree, the Supreme Kai of Time herself is amenable to changing history for the better. (Which now that I type that out is entirely nothing new with the former but, you know, ehhhh.) Which combined with the observation that this mission is the one notable instance in all of Xenoverse 1 and 2 that a distortion works toward the heroes' benefit, raises a big question: if correcting a timeline necessitates disadvantaging the good guys, would that be enforced? Should it, even?
Something to keep in mind, maybe.
(to be continued)

Super Dragon Ball Heroes 20
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, in a completely different story...
Tumblr media
This episode is a “special” that focuses on the Time Patrol.  It sets up some plot points in the next arc, and it also provides some context for Fu, although I’d say it raises more questions than answers.
The problem is that this episode just jumps into the climax of a completely different story, one that took place some time ago, relative to the first 19 episodes.  The first time I saw it, there was a little infodump scene before the episode title, to fill you in on the Supreme Kai of Time and her conflict with Mechikabura and Demigra.  I can’t seem to find it now, so I’ll just explain what I know.
So about 75 million years ago, there was a contest to appoint a Supreme Kai of Time. The job mainly involves caring for the Divine Tokitoki Bird, a cosmic animal who creates time.  The two candidates were Mechikabura, one of the oldest and most powerful of the Core People, and Chronoa, who I’m pretty sure got chosen because she’s good with animals.  Anyway, Mechikabura tried to cheat, and Chronoa got the job.  One of her first acts as Supreme Kai of Time was to banish Mechikabura to a hidden realm of the universe, which eventually became known as the Demon Realm.  Later, Demigra, a wizard who worked as Chronoa’s assistant, turned out to be a dirty dealer as well, and she banished him to a different realm, the Crack of Time.
In the Demon Realm, Mechikabura founded the Dark Empire.  I don’t know where his subjects came from.  Maybe there were others in there with him, or they got banished there later for other crimes.  Anyway, everyone there became known as Demons, and after a long reign, Mechikabura died or got sealed away or something.  Dabura eventually became King of the Demon Realm, but then he got enslaved by Babidi, and killed by Majin Buu on Earth.
So Dabura’s sister, a scientist named Towa, came up with a plan to resurrect Mechikabura.  This involved a lot of time travel shenanigans, brainwashing various characters, and using a set of corrupted Dragon Balls.  Her machinations eventually got the attention of the Supreme Kai of Time, but she accused Trunks of causing the problems, since she had become aware of his time trips to defeat the androids on Earth.   When it became clear that Trunks was not responsible, she recruited him for the Time Patrol, and they investigated the Demon Realm plot together.
Now, this basic synopsis is taken from a few sources, including the Dragon Ball Heroes games, the Dragon Ball Heroes manga, and the opening exposition from this episode of the web anime.  It’s also kind of mentioned in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 1, although Mechikabura isn’t brought up, since I’m pretty sure he wasn’t introduced yet.  But Towa is in XV1 and she’s depicted as an old enemy of the Time Patrol.  There’s a number of twists and turns, like Demigra showing up and joining forces with the Time Patrol, or the Supreme Kai of Time getting mind-controlled into being a bad guy.  But episode 20 of the SDBH anime is only concerned with the very end of the story, where the good guys have their final battle against Mechikabura at the height of his powers.
Tumblr media
In this version, like the manga, Chronoa and Trunks are joined by alternate versions of Gohan, Goten, Pan, Goku and Vegeta. We’ve already met Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta.  They were the Time Patroller guys who showed up in the Prison Planet arc and wrecked Fu’s lab.  As for Xeno Goten, he’s here to provide Xeno Trunks with a fusion partner.  Xeno Gohan and Xeno Pan?  I have no idea. I’m pretty sure they were just brought in so there’d be enough Saiyans handy to do the Super Saiyan God ritual with Trunks.
Tumblr media
Mostly, the action is handled by Xeno Goku and Vegeta, who fuse together to become Xeno Vegito.  So where did these guys come from?  The only explanation I’ve been able to work out is that in the Heroes video games, these battles would feature the player avatars, characters like Beat, Note, and so on.  But in the manga, those characters weren’t available, so they had a scene where Chronoa drew allies from Trunks’ memories, or something.  I don’t understand that, because the implication is that she created these guys out of thin air, with nothing to go on but Trunks’ memory.  But he has no memory of Goten or Pan, or Super Saiyan 4, so it doesn’t make sense.
Tumblr media
Anyway, the basic idea here is that Vegito keeps Mechikabura busy, while Chronoa charges up Trunk’s Time Sword, which he then uses to strik the final blow.
Tumblr media
Mechikabura does the whole thing where he thinks the sword didn’t even hurt him, then he’s like “OH SHIT THIS ACTUALLY HURTS A LOT!  ESPECIALLY MY GENITALS, WHICH WERE ALSO CUT IN HALF!  OW MY GOBLIN DICK!”
Tumblr media
Then Chronoa’s like “Sleep forever within the light” and he explodes or gets sucked into the prison dimension or whatever.  I just like how badass Chronoa’s delivery is here.  “Get wrecked, Mechikabura.  Time Patrol, motherfuckaaa.”
Tumblr media
Then she tells her bird to destroy the whole palace.  “Every last brick, Tokitoki.  I want them all to know it was me.”

Normally Tokitoki looks like a goofy barn owl with a beard, but here he transforms into a giant golden firebird or something.

“When you get to hell, tell ‘em Tokitoki sent ya!”
Tumblr media
“ARRRRGH THIS HURTS A LOT!  NOT AS MUCH AS MY DEMON PENIS GETTING SLICED DOWN THE MIDDLE, THOUGH!  BUT BOTH OF THESE THINGS ARE HAPPENING TO ME SO OWWWWW!”

Then the good guys return to Earth or wherever, and everyone gives Trunks and attaboy for being so reliable.  But he gives Goku and Vegeta the credit, since they did most of the work.  I’m pretty sure the original premise was for Trunks to carry the load in this battle, hence the Super Saiyan God form, but here we are.
Anyway, that’s how Mechikabura and his Dark Empire fell.  But wait...
Tumblr media
Just before Tokitoki wrecked the whole place, Towa and Mira managed to evacuate their baby.  Okay, I probably should have explained Mira.  He’s an artificial life form Towa created to serve as her enforcer. He’s got Saiyan DNA and some other traits copied from powerful warriors, but she also married him, so it’s fair to say that Mira doubles as a sex toy.
Tumblr media
This scene makes it look like they tossed their baby into a dimensional portal, then died with the rest of the city, but Towa and Mira would return to cause trouble in other media, including the Xenoverse games, other DBH missions, and the MMO Dragon Ball Online, where she was first introduced.
Tumblr media
As for the baby, we don’t actually see what happened to him as he grew up.  Instead, we flash forward to see him as an adult...

And he’s Fu, the mad scientist we’ve seen throughout the series so far.  He looks a lot more edgelord-y here, but he seems to have lightened up by the time this web anime got started.
My gripe here is that none of this really tells us much about Fu as a character.  I mean, he’s descended from Towa and Mira, but anyone watching this web anime without playing any of the games would have no idea who Towa and Mira are.  Well, they’re demons, okay, but what does that mean to Fu?  Does Fu even know where he came from?
I mean, I know Towa and Mira fairly well.  I’ve written fanfiction about them, for crying out loud.  But I’ve yet to understand Fu’s whole deal, and this episode seems designed to help me understand him better, and it really doesn’t succeed. Knowing who his parents are doesn’t get me very far.  I guess he inherited his scientific genius from his mom, and his high power level came from his dad, and that’s about it.
Now, this episode does reintroduce the Time Patrol, and it introduces Tokitoki and Xeno Trunks to the story, and we’ll be seeing more of them in the next arc, so it’s not a complete waste of time, but I’m still not clear on what this was meant to accomplish.
Tumblr media
“OWWWWWWWWW, EVEN IN DEATH MY BISECTED DEVIL HOG STILL SMARTS LIKE NOBODY’S BUSINESS!  CAN THERE BE NO RELIEF!  OOOOOWWWWWWWWWW!”
