Headcanon: Emu is banned from several casinos for being too good at all the games, including ones that should theoretically be solely based on luck.

Yeah, I can see that happening... though, I don't see Emu being a gambler and going to casinos tbh.

So they just ban him on account of his reputation as Genius Gamer M... and perhaps Emu hilariously remains oblivious of said ban until someone else brings it up to him and he's like "But I've never even been there, what did I do to get banned??"

What do you Emu Hojo’s least favorite activities are?

Paperwork. He probably has to deal with a good bit of it, with patient records and whatnot. He understands it's all necessary but it's just tedious (and he thinks a good chunk of it could've been digitized but alas, Japan for all its technological marvels is persistently stuck on paper records)

And dealing with government bureaucracy (since he's technically employed by the Japanese Ministry of Health).

I just realized some of the reasons I personally don’t like Kamen Rider Zi-O. The first is that he just rehashes a lot of earlier things, time travel was already done by Den-O, the worlds merging was done by Decade, and the overpower abilities was done by Ex-Aid via God Gamer lvl billion. The tributes were lackluster. The ending with everything being undone and Sougo giving up his powers and chance to be king to save the world was nice, but the Toei had to undo it.

I'm going to try to respond to this bit by bit, I hope you don't mind

On this point, I'm not really sure I agree. Yes those themes have been done in previous seasons... but Zi-O's not the first time that they were rehashed anyway. So singling out Zi-O for these isn't necessarily fair imo.

Like, while the time travel theme wasn't overtly present in another series, a few stories within some seasons have time travel plots. Drive had a few movies with wibbly wobbly timey wimey shenanigans, including its crossover with Ghost. The worlds merging thing was a whole plot point in Build and its crossover, HeiGen Final. And while I'm not quite sure what you mean by "overpower abilities" Riders with broken abilities are a dime a dozen at that point.

The tributes were lackluster.

For me it was more the lack of consistency with the quality of these crossovers and the representation of the series. There were some series that got a really good showing, like say Den-O... and there were others that got absolutely butchered like Ryuki (especially where Rider Time was concerned)... and there was Kuuga who didn't even get a single returning cast member.

I also had issues with the whole timeline erasure plot they had in the beginning. I felt like they either shouldn't have done it at all or they should've stuck their guns on it. Obviously, they chickened out due to backlash from the people who loved the series that got erased. Which plays into the next point...

The ending with everything being undone and Sougo giving up his powers and chance to be king to save the world was nice, but then Toei had to undo it.

In this case though, it's pretty much a given they would backtrack on it because they were already planning the inevitable V Cinema and especially the crossover, which would require Sougo to be Zi-O for obvious reasons. And even worse was that we knew that they were more or less going to handwave away how Sougo would regain his powers.

So... why bother do it at all? Why alienate the audience with that kind of ending when they know perfectly well that Sougo will come back as Zi-O anyway?

How do you think emu would do at various sports?

I guess it depends? While he is very clumsy, he does seem to have excellent hand-eye coordination and reflexes from his video game playing, so maybe he'd be fine in sports that focus more on those aspects.

What are your thoughts on Shin Kamen Rider (2023)? Do you plan on seeing it? I think I might.

Hmm, maybe, I'm not quite sure yet.

I'm personally more interested in Black Sun, mostly because of the casting- the guy playing Kotaro Minami is Hidetoshi Nishijima, who I've seen in a few doramas... that happened to also star Saber cast members lol. He was in Shinhannin Flag with Ryo Aoki and now he's in Unicorn ni Notte with Takaya Yamaguchi. He was really good in Shinhannin Flag, so I'm interested to see his take on Kamen Rider Black.

And of course, there's Fuuto PI which is airing in only a few days' time. Everything I've seen about it just fills me with joy- the casting (Ucchi!!!), the animation (chef's kiss), the music (so very W, and involving musicians that already did music for W like Mitsuru Matsuoka, Aya Kamiki, Takuya and Koji Kikkawa). I already read the bit of the manga they are adapting so I know what to expect more or less, but I still want to see how they'll adapt it.

All the riders are cinnamon rolls. Except for Daiki and Tsukasa, they're sinnamon rolls.

As someone who has seen far too many Kamen Riders in various states of undress (thank Gaim for actor photobooks?), I don't think anyone can be considered a cinnamon roll at this point. Not even the space friendship monster, or the baby Riders are spared

But yeah if anyone's going to hell it's those two. And maybe RyuSen, for traumatizing their own kid

If Emu is the mom, Shinnosuke is the dad, and Shoutaro the uncle, then is Takeshi Hongo the granddad?

More or less, yeah. He used be more aloof towards the younger Riders- and the Showa-Heisei thing didn't help matters- but he softened up a lot over time, especially after meeting Takeru, who pretty much everyone knows is his favorite "grandson". Touma is probably the close second.

Oh Gaim Taiga's face when Takeru goes

"Thanks for this, Taiga-san. I owe you one, really." Emu bowed deeply. "I can't thank you enough for this..."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever." Taiga sighed, waving off Emu's repeated bows of gratefulness. "I don't know why you're so attached to this kid and I'm not sure what I can do that he can't at the hospital."

"Well... his situation is quite complicated. I can't really have some random colleague of mine look him over..." Emu laughed awkwardly. "Oh, I'll call him in now... Takeru-kun!"

"Coming, sensei!" Not a second later, a young man stepped into Taiga's office. "Hello!" he greeted cheerfully. "I'm Tenkuuji Takeru, nice to meet you!"

Taiga nodded mutely. "Hanaya Taiga." He acknowledged simply.

Takeru beamed at him. "I know! Alain-san told me about you!" he replied. "You're a Kamen Rider too, right?"

"...'Too'?" Taiga asked, looking at Emu with raised brows.

"Uh, yeah. That's the 'complicated' part of his situation." Emu laughed. "He's Kamen Rider Ghost... technically my senpai, I guess...?"

Taiga blinked, then reeled away, his eyes widening in terror. "G-G-G-Ghost?!" he exclaimed, shocked and horrified. "You- You're a ghost?!"

"Oh. Well... not anymore?" Takeru asked. "I used to be one, being dead and all, but I came back to life, so I'm not a ghost anymore!" he laughed. "But my powers are still kinda... you know..." He let his hands hang limp as though imitating a ghost. "I still go by that name, even though I'm not even dead anymore."

"Taiga-san... Could it be...." Emu looked at the senior doctor in shock. "Are you scared of ghosts?"

Taiga hastily turned around, hiding his embarrassed face. "W-What are you talking about. Of course I'm not." He looked at Takeru, Emu looking unimpressed and disbelieving. "A-Anyway... let's go kid, time for that check up you came for..."

Uhhh you mean Tendou Souji, Kamen Rider Kabuto right?

He probably wasn’t all that impressed by Kouta initially (the outfit and shortness didn’t help matters). But when chaos eventually ensued, and Kouta managed to stop it with his Fruit Jesus powers, Souji had to begrudgingly admit he wasn’t all that bad after all.

He’s not gonna say that to Kouta’s face though lmao. He’s also one of the handful that don’t call Kouta Fruit Jesus- but it’s only because he knows acknowledging Kouta in such a manner would make people say he’s walking on the path of Fruit Jesus

Tsukasa has a canonical aversion to sea cucumbers. Which is sad because they're quite tasty, imo

Eiji's fear of snakes is canon. I suppose that's why we haven't seen BuraKaWani combo in forever. ('Bura' comes from 'cobra')

Gentaro's canonically afraid of cicadas... which means summer must really suck for him because those things go crazy during summertime.

Aside from that I'm not aware of any other canonical phobias, and I only made up Touma's arachnophobia on a whim lol. Maybe Shinnosuke and Aruto have a fear of paperwork XD

Headcanon: Emu and Ryotaro are both banned from cooking because their clumsiness/bad luck means they inevitably end up setting the kitchen on fire.

I feel like Emu would know how to cook somewhat. He's a bachelor living by himself (or with Parad, idk) and I imagine him to be health conscious since.... y'know, doctor. I think he'd be aghast at the idea of eating out or buying convenience store food all the time. Of course, the exception is when he's too tired from a shift at work, or if he's on a game binge and he's too distracted to cook.

Ryoutaro on the other hand... yeah. Definitely.

Yeah, sorry, I haven't watched Madoka. I read about it when I first heard about it being also written by Gen Urobuchi and... to say I was slightly disturbed that this was in a shoujo series is an understatement. Kamen Rider I can understand, but a magical girl series meant for little girls?
