Janis’ Pillow Pile (Aka Fluff)
+ When watching movies without Thomas, the sides like to have cuddle piles, usually Patton starts them but occasionally Roman will too.  + Janus and Logan have a book club together. They pick a book to discuss at the end of each month.
+ Virgil likes to make things out of spiderwebs,  sometimes its cool patterns, sometimes its little animals, he finds it relaxing.
+ Remus and Janus have their own movie nights where they watch horror movies. The whole time, Janus comments on how stupid the main characters are while Remus gets ideas for intrusive thoughts to give Thomas.

Check Mate in Four Moves
Rated: T (hello there Remus and, what? Logan!) WC: A gift for @thecrowslullaby
Remus and Janus are together. Remus and Logan are together. Logan and Janus can barely tolerate being in the same room together. Surely there's some solution to this problem.
How about a nice game of chess?
Special thanks to @treeni for the encouragement!
Opening Gambit
"King me!" Remus' eyes glowed as he slammed down his pawn on Logan's side of the board where a rook used to rest. Wordless, Janus glanced up from his worn copy of The Brothers Karamazov, his tiny smirk showing above the cover.
Logan chuckled and rubbed the side of Remus' shin with one stockinged foot. "'King me' is for checkers, Meus."
"Hm, okay then, Pocket Protector…" He leaned over the board and waggled his eyebrows. "Mount me, then."
"Smooth, Muse, very smooth," Janus purred from his armchair. He didn't look up this time.
He shrugged, "Usually works on you, doesn't it?"
Laughing, Logan replaced the pawn with one of Remus' knights he'd captured earlier in the game. Remus bowed his head in thanks and lifted Logan's hand as though to kiss it, but at the last moment flipped it over and licked his palm instead.
"That is certainly one way to stop me from checkmating you," Logan remarked, feigning annoyance. He hadn't stopped stroking the side of Remus' leg with his foot, though, so the Creative Side simply waggled his eyebrows and grinned with just a little too much teeth.
Janus loudly turned a page in his book and muttered, "So have you decided yet how you're going to finish him off so that—”
"So that I can go finish off Jannie?" Remus interrupted with a lewd gesture toward his boyfriend in the reading nook.
Logan smiled and steepled his fingers as he looked at the board. "Scholar's Mate."
"Hmm… 'Scholar's Mate?' How do you manage to make chess sound so sexy, Lo Lo?"
Janus laid his book in his lap, index finger stuck inside to keep his place. "Muse, to be fair, last week you exclaimed that Logan made fabric softener sexy."
"Well yeah, Jannie…" Remus gave a little shoulder shimmy. "But that was because the sheets were—”
Logan twirled the piece he'd just promoted and captured between his thumb and index finger, eyes trained on the board. "I see I was not the only one with whom you shared that particular insight on satisfactorily reducing friction burns, Meus."
Remus threw his head back and laughed, then he leaned back in his chair, one elbow tucked behind him on the backrest. Janus still hadn't resumed his reading and was, instead, leaning forward in his armchair and examining the board. "Why are you toying with him?" he finally asked from across the room.
"Hm?" was Logan's only response as he adjusted his glasses and pondered the board. Remus grinned, still leaned back in his chair. He watched the pair and tapped his toes within his boots, nearly vibrating in his seat.
Janus began to lean in even closer, then shifted his position so he sat with his legs crossed, tilted as far from the chess match—and Logan—as possible. "Remus went first and opened himself up for a Fool's Mate." Remus began to shimmy his shoulders but Janus silenced him with a sharp look then stabbed Logan with his eyes. "You didn't follow through."
Logan said nothing and simply captured another of Remus' pieces. "And now, you've been no more than four moves to checkmate for the past half hour and yet you leave him dangling on the line. Why—”
"Maybe I like it when Logan dangles me," Remus cackled, moving a bishop across the board without looking. Logan's bishop. Logan reset the piece and moved one of Remus' in a similar move, then advanced his own queen.
"If you believe I am not playing my best, then perhaps you had better play a match with me," Logan murmured, watching Remus suddenly turn his attention to the board, stroking his mustache as though deep in thought.
"Perhaps I should," Janus' voice wasn't quite as honeyed as it usually was.
Logan pivoted in his seat, adjusting his tie and turning to face Janus for the first time during his match with Remus. "How about tomorrow night then?"
"I look forward to it," Janus murmured before picking up his book and turning the page.
Queen to Knight 3
"I look forward to it."
"What the hell had I been thinking?" cried Janus, head nestled in Remus' lap as the Creative Side carded long fingers through his hair, scratching gently at his scalp with neon green nails. "I don't want his attention out of pity or some misplaced sense of guilt for keeping you for a long time."
Remus tutted quietly. That was Janus first clue that he had completely lost it. Remus was never quiet .
"Jannie," Remus held Janus' face between his hands, softly rubbing his thumb along the edge where scales and skin met. "Lo Lo asked you to play. He's Logan . He wouldn't've done that unless he really wanted to play with you."
"But doesn't he still hate me?" Janus' voice was small as he turned his head and held his breath, afraid to taste the truth. Logan had never fully warmed up to him again after his impersonations. Janus used to tell himself it didn't matter, he didn't care that the Logical Side could barely stand to look at him, never meeting his eyes, sitting stiffly and avoiding even incidental touches whenever they were forced into the same space.
And it had only gotten worse when Logan had begun dating Remus, too.
"Heeey, Jannie… " Remus had called to him in his bedroom from downstairs in the kitchen. "Really, Meus, are you sure this is mpfm —” Logan's urgent whisper was interrupted by a wet smacking sound. "Yes, I'm sure , Nerdy Wolverine. We've talked about it, it's cool." Janus stopped just before the landing, hand hovering over the handrail. Though his voice was low, Janus' role made his hearing especially attuned to the secrets and half-truths laced through the musical timbre of Logan's voice. "Meus, just with our… history, are you quite certain he won’t be upset? And are you sure you won’t inadvertently re—” "Muse?" Janus asked, swirling down the last step and into the kitchen, tugging at the edges of his gloves. "Was there something you needed, my dear?" "Yeah, Jannie!" Remus held up Logan's hand and gestured toward their shared grip with his other, their fingers intertwined. Logan let out a quiet yelp when Remus conjured a third hand to grab his ass. "Lo Lo and I are dating now, too! Turns out you really do start to fall for your co-stars," he chuckled. "Hey, we never did get to finish that dunce sce—” "What wonderful news," Janus purred, his voice honey sweet and smooth. "I'm ecstatic for both of you." He straightened his capelet and blinked placidly at Logan, tilting his face to keep his scaled side pointed toward the pair. "Perhaps between the two of us we can keep our dear Muse busy enough to let us all have a moment to breathe." "Oh, Jannie," Remus had laughed, reaching for Janus' hand and pulling him into the kitchen. "You make me sound like a big dog you need to run to keep him from chewing the furniture." He had wagged his tongue and barked. "I like it."
"Jannie… trust me on this. He wants to spend time with you."
The following night, Janus was already in the common room by the time Logan came downstairs after dinner. "Oh, Janus, you are early," Logan muttered as he checked his watch. “I did not intend to leave you waiting. I will be just one more moment, I planned to brew a cup of—”
“Earl Grey?” Janus murmured, holding up a deep indigo teapot wrapped in a yellow wool tea cozy. “Tsk, tsk, caffeine at this hour, my dear Logic.” He tapped his mild smirk with the index finger on another hand. “But I won’t breathe a word if you would be so kind as to overlook my own indulgence in a cup.”
Logan stood frozen between the kitchen and the small table they used for chess games. Finally, he cleared his throat and moved to the chair across from Janus. “I find that to be an acceptable compromise.” His tone was dry but Janus thought he saw a hint of a smile on the Logical Side’s lips. Janus smiled as he sat down and poured him a cup of tea, the bright bergamot notes wafting up in the steam. He managed to set down the teapot with a quiet clink before the tremor in his grip became noticeable.
“I hope you like it hot,” Janus said, both sides’ eyes widening at his choice of words. “The tea, I mean.” He smirked and looked to his right to straighten his already impeccable capelet, hiding the blush on the human side of his face. “It appears Remus is rubbing—is a powerful influence on us.”
Eyes down on the board, Logan straightened his tie. “Well, yes, it appears so.” He cleared his throat again and gestured to the white chess pieces lined up on Janus’ side of the board. “Perhaps we should best begin?”
Hiding the tremor in his fingers with a magician’s grace, Janus swirled his fingers over his pieces and advanced a pawn, freeing his bishop. “Three Knights,” Logan murmured, more a statement than a question. He looked up and caught Logan’s steely gaze boring right into him as he moved without hesitation to meet Janus’ pawn with his own. Keeping his smile, he gestured toward the board and inclined his head, certain that if he had to keep the Logical Side’s gaze for one more moment he might faint.
He stared down at their game, fingers steepled together, gloved tips pressed tightly together to avoid the impulse to fidget with the chain on his capelet. "So," he began, his voice not betraying his heart thanks only to his powers of duplicity. "You and Remus are certainly getting along well."
Logan nearly choked on his tea, coughing into his elbow and accepting Janus proffered yellow lace edged handkerchief with a nod and without meeting his eye. Janus couldn't be certain if the pink on his cheeks was from his coughing fit or the topic at hand.
"Apologies, Logan, I did not intend—”
"It is quite alright. I merely swallowed wrong," Logan insisted, straightening his tie and taking a—more careful—sip of his tea. "Yes, I would not have expected Remus and I to be as emotionally or physically compatible as we are. I would have expected to connect better with someone more—” Logan's eyes flicked up and briefly met Janus before he looked away again, clearing his throat. "Well, yes," he finished vaguely.
Humming noncommittally, Janus advanced his bishop. "Indeed," he murmured under his breath. How many games like this has he imagined over the years? The quiet, darkened common room after everyone else had gone to bed, two cups of earl grey, gazing into those deep, thoughtful eyes across the board from him. Then afterwards, they could banter over who really won or if combining Kholmov's Combination with Geller's Rook and Pawn defense was brilliant or merely a hack as they slowly made their way upstairs, hand in hand.
"Have I confounded you by advancing my pawn?"
Logan's resonant voice ripped him from his musing and Janus looked up, feigning irritation with a frown. "It's not a timed game, unless you are overly anxious to retire for the evening." Janus didn't need to fake his scowl at who Logan was spending his evening with. "I suppose it's natural,” he purred, moving his king’s bishop across the board. He pierced Logan with his gaze as he looked away to arrange his captured pieces, eyebrow on his snake’s side raised. “You do plan to see Remus after this game, don't you?"
Logan sat back in his chair, tea cup gripped in both hands. "My apologies. I should not have rushed you." He took a slow sip of his tea and cleared his throat when his voice cracked. "You simply appeared lost in thought." He replaced his cup on the saucer with a little clink. "Perhaps… perhaps this match was a mistake. I appreciate you humoring me—”
Logan started to rise but Janus leapt to his feet, reaching across the board with both hands, "No, don't go!" his words tumbled out and he straightened, dropping his hands to smooth his capelet. "You can't simply leave in the middle of a game when you are ahead," he continued in a more controlled voice. "Give me the opportunity to counter your attack, at least."
Eyeing him carefully, Logan slowly returned to his seat. "If you insist."
"I do," Janus said, a small smile spreading on his face when Logan was seated again. "More tea?" he asked, holding the teapot aloft.
Knight's Revenge
Fifteen minutes before he was due downstairs for their chess game, Logan was pacing in his room, hair still wet and tie hanging undone over his shoulders. He'd laid a towel on top of it to catch the drips before they hit his button down, but his collar was open, the rest of the buttons fastened but off by one. He swore as he flung another rejected pair of slacks over his shoulder, replaying last night's conversation in his head.
'How about tomorrow night, then?'
"What the fuck had I been thinking?" he cried to Remus as he flung another rejected pair of slacks over his shoulder. Remus caught them and folded them in half, pressing the creases flat before hanging them over his arm with the others. "Janus hates me! He only agreed because he feels obligated to make nice for your sake."
Things had been awkward between them since even before the trial. Logan would freeze every time Janus came near, his silky smooth voice and his ever-present spicy chai scent locking his mental gears, all his logical thought grinding to a halt. The last time it had happened, it was all Logan could do to stop staring at the way his scales caught the light, and the way his eyes sparkled as he described his favorite chapter in the latest novel Cixin Liu. When Janus had stopped talking, the Logical side had nearly reached for his hand, begging him to continue, and he'd had to take a step back, out of arm’s reach, just to get himself back under control.
Janus had been so irritated by his distracted behavior that he’d avoided him for several weeks after that, barely looking at him when they happened upon each other in the kitchen or the hall. And now he’d managed to manipulate Janus into a game of chess when Logan was certain he’d much rather spend time with Remus.
Finally finding a pair that were dressy without being fussy, Logan yanked on his pants, hands shaking as he threaded his favorite belt through the loops. "I am taking advantage of Janus’ good manners! This is such a mistake, I should just call it off now, let this all blow over and everything can go back to the way it was. I am confident I can manage to stay out of his way for a few weeks or months or—"
"Lo Lo," He looked up at Remus' quiet interruption, mouth trembling. Remus draped the slacks over his desk chair and held out his arms. Logan practically collapsed into his hold and Remus blipped them over to the bed, Logan laying on top of him. Remus rubbed circles into the tight muscles at the back of Logan's neck and waited for him to speak. The Logical Side buried his face in Remus' chest, his voice muffled by the other's sash.
"Why could I not simply leave well enough alone?"
Remus tilted up Logan's chin and kissed his crown, rubbing firm lines up and down his back just the way he liked it. "Lo Lo… Jannie doesn't hate you." Logan slid his arms up and under Remus' shoulders, soaking in the warmth of his touch, and listened. "Unless it's for Thomas, Jannie doesn't do a damn thing he doesn't want to. And—” Remus cut off Logan's protest with a smile and a sloppy kiss on his forehead. "And he wants to spend time with you. You know I won't lie just to spare somebody’s feelings. Even some body as hot as yours, Pocket Protector."
As if to make his point, Remus waggled his eyebrows as his hands trailed lower down Logan’s back. “Meus,” Logan warned, the blush on his face a stark contrast with the rest of his stern expression. “I would like to have time to make a cup of tea before the game.”
Remus pouted but didn’t stop Logan from getting up and frowning at his reflection in the mirror. He leapt out of the bed and quickly re-buttoned Logan’s shirt from behind him. “Well, I would like to have time to make a cup of you before the game,” he laughed against the Logical Side’s neck after eliciting a little yelp with a not-so-gentle nip.
“But you’d be amazed at how patient I can be,” Remus winked when Logan turned in his arms, unable to decide if he was annoyed or pleased. “Knock him dead,” he muttered, planting one more hungry kiss on Logan’s mouth. “Remember, I get winner!”
Logan had been momentarily stunned to see Janus already downstairs, the room dark save for a bright task lamp illuminating the ready chess game in front of him. So much for having a moment to make a cup of tea. He’d blinked in surprise when Janus showed him he’d already prepared a pot of his favorite tea. For a moment, Logan considered commenting that he thought Janus exclusively drank chai, but he worried it might sound ungrateful, so he ultimately accepted the cup and tried to refocus his thoughts on the game and away from… other matters.
His attempt was short-lived when he had an immediate and embarrassing reaction to Janus’ unintended innuendo and Logan struggled to maintain his train of thought as he watched the other’s expression as he played. Janus carefully considered each move, and Logan imagined he could see him map out future moves behind the bright glow of his heterochromatic eyes.
Five moves in, Logan knew he’d lost the game when, after moving his queen’s rook, Janus’ smile briefly bloomed as his eyes danced across the game board. “Remind me to play poker with you sometime,” Logan murmured, hiding his disappointment at his impending loss behind a sip of his third cup of tea.
Janus looked up, and in the dim light, Logan imagined he spotted a dusting of pink on Janus’s human features. “I wasn’t aware you were a gambler, my dear Logan.”
Illogically, Logan’s heart warmed at Janus’ affectionate phrasing. He shook away the thought and advanced his queen, unwilling to reveal he knew he’d lost. “Your expressions betray you.” Janus fumbled his cup, nearly dropping it onto the board.
“Ex—excuse me?” Janus stuttered, his suave tone lost as he righted his cup on its saucer.
Tilting his head at Janus’ unexpectedly intense response, Logan narrowed his eyes and spoke slowly, a sudden uncertainty falling over him. “When I moved my rook to knight three.” He watched Janus’ eyes refocus on the board, widening in understanding. “You smiled when you realized you’d just won the game.”
Check and Mate
“I wasn’t aware you were a gambler, my dear Logan.” Janus could almost see Logan sitting across from him on the other side a green felt covered table, adjusting his glasses and face blooming in a smile as he pushed a stack of poker chips into the pot. "I see your twenty and raise you a hundred." Poker really wasn’t a fair game for Janus to play with any of the Sides. What good is trying to bluff when your opponent can taste when you're lying?
So Janus would have to make certain accommodations in order to play poker with Logan. Remus would likely enjoy playing, as well, especially if he managed to convince them to play strip poker. He peered at Logan over the chess board and pondered how that game might go. If they did play together, would Logan choose to lose his tie first? Or last?
'Your expressions betray you,' Logan quietly intoned, turning a captured pawn between his fingers end over end.
Janus nearly dropped his cup, spilling his tea all over the board, the table, his lap. How the hell did he know?! More importantly, though, he didn't seem disturbed. Has just been waiting for me to—
Understanding washed over him as Logan explained and he attempted to hide his shameful disappointment behind a renewed interest in the game board. Janus waved his hand dismissively, "Well do you—do you wish to forfeit now or—”
His stammering was interrupted by Remus' loud voice from the top of the stairs. "Ugh! I wanna go to bed! Just skip to the song and kiss him already!"
Logan's and Janus' outraged responses overlapped.
"Meus, you promised to keep that—” "Muse! What part of secret didn't—"
Remus leaned against the banister and conjured a tub of pickle and kimchi coated popcorn and crunched loudly as he watched with a wicked smile as Logan and Janus turned to stare at each other instead of Remus.
"Wait, does that mean you —”
Logan leaned across the board and grabbed Janus' capelet with both hands. "Oh, just shut up and kiss me already," he murmured, a happy smirk spreading on his face.
Remus watched them kiss with a bright grin as he finished his popcorn. When he was done, he disappeared the empty tub and licked his fingers clean. Logan and Janus were still kissing. Janus had returned to his chair and Logan had settled into his lap, arms draped over his soft capelet. "Took you two long enough. Alright, see you upstairs…" He cackled when he got to the top landing.
"I get winner!"

Does anyone have any Sanders Sides fanfic suggestions? I’m running out of fanfics to read!
My preferences:
Site: I’d prefer the fanfiction to either be on Wattpad or Tumblr but I don’t mind AO3 as long as it’s accessible to people without an acccount
Ships: I like the ships Demus and anything under LAMP as well as Karrot Kings. Any ships between Thomas and the sides as well as the ship between Remus and Roman that I shall not speak of are a no go.
Type: Angst and/or fluff is fine with me but absolutely no smut as it makes me uncomfortable (implied stuff is fine, just no actual smut)
Completion status: I’d prefer if the fic was complete though I don’t mind reading an incomplete fic as long as it is not discontinued
If anyone has any suggestions that would be greatly appreciated!

let the sunshine in
Pairing: Johnlock!Logicality (with Gregstrade!Demus)
Alternative Universe: 70s Sherlock Holmes with Holmes!Logan, Watson!Patton, Lestrade!Janus, Gregson!Remus
Trigger Warning: Innuendos
I wanted to do a whole-ass case, but then longing for fluff and slice-of-life came along and I had to roll with it. It’s definitely shorter than expected, but I like it. Hope you still like it @remi-remy-remus and @tanukisoda though it’s not really like we discussed...
Scotland Yard was quite empty this early in the afternoon. It looked like no one was committing crime during lunch breaks, which is a pity, really, considering how out-of-touch those officers are while eating. There could be a murder in front of them and they wouldn’t notice, Logan Holmes thought as he was standing in front of two inspectors who were eating their sandwiches without noticing him. One was sitting properly on his chair, his legs crossed, using his towel often to wipe his mouth and chin. His voice was low, he was a quiet man. The other, though, was a bit… different. His legs were crossed on his desk, mud hanging from his boots, and he answered loudly to his colleague while making a mess on his tank top. Logan coughed.
“Gentlemen, he greeted them with a small bow of the head.
-Where’s Watson? the first officer, a man with scars on the left side of his face, neatly dressed, asked with a smirk.
-Did you forget your boyfriend at home? his colleague joked.”
Logan rolled his eyes and sighed, making clear he wasn’t in the mood for the officer’s joke - he never was, in fact. They were always overstepping his privacy or gross, if not both.
“Remus Gregson, have some manners, the first officer cooed. You know Mr Holmes doesn’t like our truths…
-Can you act normal? For once? said Holmes snapped in annoyance. You’re just looking like idiots.
-As always, Remus acquiesced, laughing.”
He got punched in the stomach by his colleague’s elbow.
“Ouch! Jan, that’s not nice! You will-
-Can I get the file of the latest case I helped with? Pat- hum Watson needs it, Logan cut them off, because he knows where this faux competition will lead and it disgusted him already.”
Janus looked through his drawers before taking a file out. He looked through it and, satisfied, he handed it to the detective.
“Bring it back before next week this time, he warned him. It’s always us they’re blaming if a file is missing…”
Logan nodded and quickly walked out of Scotland Yard. He wanted to get back to his flat as soon as he could.”
The door wasn’t closed all the way, so Logan Holmes just had to push it to enter the flat. Pattoon Watson, his flatmate and the famous author of short stories about him, was deeply focused on his typing machine, the clicks of each button echoing in the silence of the living room. Logan felt annoyed, almost abandoned, that Watson didn’t even address him a glance when he came in. He walked over to his desk, trying to be quiet, and slammed the file next to his very good friend. Watson jumped on his chair, startled, and adjusted his glasses while looking up at Logan’s face.
“Oh, you came back already.
-Yes, unlike a certain man here, I don’t get distracted by every shop in London…”
Patton laughed the insult off, and examined the documents stored in it. Logan had his eyes set on him, feeling neglected at the loss of attention on his flatmate’s behalf.
That was something Watson knew about his dear friend - as he liked to call him in his writing: Logan Holmes wasn’t cold. It was a facade he put up for the clients, the policemen or any stranger, but he dropped in as soon as he was alone with him in their flat. He was actually needy, clingy and a brat, but Patton knew how to deal with it. He also knew how to play with it, and right now, he was really amused to see how Holmes was trying to get his attention. He focused even more on the documents, not even reading them, waiting for Logan to snap… And that he did only a few seconds later, taking his shoulder in his hand and, with his fingers on his chin, lifting his face.
“You didn’t thank me, he remarked with an adorable pout.”
Patton laughed and pushed back his chair so that his laps were exposed. He held out his arms, apologising:
“Forgive me Holmes, my dear Logan, I wasn’t in my right mind.
-I’ll set it straight then, Logan answered playfully.”
He climbed on his laps in the fashion of a cat trying to find some balance on the uncomfiest place ever. He still managed to sit on Watson’s laps, his arms around his neck, kissing his face. He really was clingy… and he couldn’t help but let his fingers play with the hem of his pale turquoise sweater vest. Patton stroked his back, smiling as Logan was kissing him. He loved when his boyfriend was affectionate like that. It wasn’t rare, but there still were some moments when he didn’t want to be touched at all. He respected it, but Patton was so affectionate all of the time he kind of felt deprived in those moments. He had lots of love to give and Logan was the perfect man to receive it - he was just fluctuating. Soon, they kissed on the lips and, since they couldn’t get enough, they both stood up. Patton broke the embrace to put a record on. The music filled the silence and Logan smiled at him upon recognising the song. They kissed again as Aquarius started and didn’t stop before the second song replaced it.
“The Flesh Failures… Is it one of your subtle ways of communication? Logan asked.
-Me? No, I wouldn’t, Patton answered sarcastically, but he started dancing.”
And though Holmes didn’t really like to dance, he gave in to seeing the genuine happiness radiating from his soulmate - because he truly believed this man was crafted for his wretched, complicated soul, to match him with undeniable talent and wit. And they danced together in the slow afternoon, as the sun shone on them, as Logan Holmes was truly blissed, as Patton was sharing intimacy with a strange yet fascinating being, as they were in love, and though it was 1970, in this very moment, for us, it was always 1895.

"you're an idiot" "but you love me" for demus???? 👀👀
You ask, I provide: enjoy some demus fluff (ft. soft jan)
-----
Remus paused a moment, debating his options, before knocking on Janus’s door several times with his forehead. He wasn’t normally a thinker- scratch that, he never thought things through- but even he could tell he needed a bit of assistance on this one.
Janus opened his door a moment later, bleary eyed and wearing a yellow t-shirt and sweats- Remus had to do a double take to register the unusual outfit, before he remembered it was well past midnight. Immediately taking in Remus’s appearance, Jan’s eyes widened and he stepped back, now fully alert.
“I am not concerned at all,” Janus said mildly, stepping back and opening his door wider in a silent invitation to enter. Remus did so gladly, careful not to touch anything. Janus closed the door behind him, padding over to his desk and sitting down.
“What, may I ask, the hell did you do?”
Remus gestured to his left arm vaguely. “Oh, you mean this?”
Janus heaved a long sigh, rolling his eyes to the heavens. “Of course I don’t mean your arm, Re. There are so many other things I could’ve been talking about.”
Remus considered this for a moment, looking down at his blackened arm. For some reason, he wasn’t feeling his normal self, at least not enough to bother Janus with the constant thoughts in his mind. So, instead, he simply responded with a shrug.
“Well?” Janus prompted. “What did you do?”
“I set it on fire.”
“You set it-” Janus pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed again, a bit dramatic in Remus’s opinion, but he wasn’t one to judge- plus, it was adorable, not that he’d ever tell Jan that.
“Of course you did, I don’t know why I’m surprised.” Janus shook his head- almost fondly? He snapped his fingers and a roll of medical wrap fell into his open palm. Another snap conjured a wet towel that Remus caught with ease. He wrapped it around his arm, nearly hissing at the sensation, and pressed it down as Janus conjured a few other items.
Janus stood up and paced around his room as Remus sat on his bed, quietly thinking his thoughts and humming his theme song. Occasionally he would cackle at his own creativity, but for the most part stayed silent. After treating and wrapping up Remus’s arm, Janus perched next to him on the bed, sitting cross-legged.
“Can I just- I don’t want to ask why.”
“Because I wanted to see what would happen?”
Janus sighed for a third time that hour, but there was definitely a smile twitching at his lips. He changed the topic, most likely knowing he wasn’t going to get a better answer. “You can sleep with me tonight, if you want.”
Remus couldn’t stop himself. He raised his eyebrows and grinned. “You’d like that, wouldn’t you?”
To Janus’s credit, he didn’t even bat an eye, instead just lying back and snapping the lights off.
“Good night, Remus.”
Remus lay back next to him. “Night, Jan.”
Janus didn’t respond. Remus thought he had fallen asleep, but a few minutes later, he spoke again.
“You’re an idiot.”
Remus grinned madly, flattered by the statement. “But you love me.”
Janus feel silent again. Remus was starting to drift off and nearly missed his quiet, “Yeah.”
It was softer than Remus had ever heard him. He could imagine Janus’s eyes softening and his smirk melting into a small, genuine smile.
“Yeah, I do.”

@multi-fandoms-posts - Thanks for the suggestion! I took some creative liberties but this is based on a suggestion they gave me.
@voltsm - Thanks for the encouragement! This person is an INCREDIBLE artist, I highly recommend looking at their amazing amazing blog!
A/N: This is the first Sanders Sides one shot I've written in a while, but I think it turned out well! Please don't repost on different websites, but reblogs are greatly appreciated!
Remus paced his room, growling in frustration. His mind wandered back to the conversation all the sides had earlier.
"Let's do a Secret Santa!" Patton had said, looking like he was going to burst from excitement.
Roman nodded enthusiastically. "That's a great idea, padre!"
"I'm up for it if you guys are," Virgil replied with a shrug.
"I do believe that doing a Secret Santa could be beneficial to our mental and emotional health," said Logan, pushing up his glasses.
All of them looked at Janus and Remus, catching both of them off guard.
"You'd really be okay with us joining?" Remus asked.
"Of course! We are famILY, after all!" Patton responded happily. Remus looked at Janus, who simply shrugged.
"I think the Secret Santa is an awful idea and wouldn't like to participate," Janus said with a small smirk.
"Why not!" Remus happily agreed.
Yet here he was now, flopping on his bed, and ironically out of ideas. He summoned something to eat, and wasn't sure if it was deodorant, a sandwich, or some ungodly abomination of both. At this point he didn't care.
He stared at the faint strip of paper labeled "Janus." Each of them had grabbed a paper from Janus's hat, and Remus had been pretty excited when he got the name of his best friend. Until he couldn't figure out what to get him.
"I'm CREATIVITY, and I've been his friend the longest! I should know what to get him!" he angrily muttered to himself. "Who am I kidding... I'm just intrusive thoughts."
"Hey Rem-" Roman said, rising up in his brother's room. He instantly stopped when he saw the poorly disguised bags under Remus's eyes. "...you okay?"
"Not really," Remus mumbled into his blankets, "why'd you come?"
Roman paused for a second. "Wellll I was having some trouble coming up with a gift for the person I got, so I was wondering if you could help. However, it looks like your having some trouble too."
Remus looked up at Roman, noticing the bags he had under his eyes as well.
"Creative block," they both muttered at the same time.
Remus laughed for the first time in days. "Wow, even the creativity gets it," he said with a teasing smirk.
"I think you mean creativities. We are both creativity, after all!" Roman happily replied. He began ranting about something he was trying to make, but Remus didn't hear a word.
Both creativity, he thought as he began to smile again, he thinks we're both creativity?
"Rem? Remus?" Roman asked.
"Oh, sorry! What'd you say? Remus asked, snapping out of his thoughts.
"What should I get Virgil?" Roman asked again.
"Virgil?"
"Yeah, Gerard Gay isn't the best at dropping hints at what he wants."
"Hm... what do you know he likes? Put yourself in his shoes. Or his-"
"MUSIC HE LIKES MUSIC!" Roman quickly interrupted. "He likes listening to music!"
Remus laughed a loud, full, laugh, making Roman smile and laugh a little as well. "If you were Virgil, what would you want?"
Roman pondered the question for a couple minutes, then suddenly shot up with an idea. "OH! I KNOW WHAT TO GET HIM! Thanks Remus!"
"No problem Roman, just remember to-" Remus began, then looked at Roman who narrowed his eyes in suspicion, "toooooo... wish him a Merry Christmas!"
"Nice save," Roman chuckled, making Remus beam. "Do you want some help figuring out what to give who you have?"
Remus sighed, mumbling a tired "I don't know," into his pillows.
"Hm... well just remember what you told me," Roman said, "what would you want if you were them?" Remus opened his mouth with a mischevious smirk, to which Roman added, "rule of thumb, if you wouldn't want Patton to get mad or pass out, don't give it as a gift." Remus immediately shut his mouth.
Remus sighed and groaned into his pillow, exhausted from having no ideas.
"Let's see... you can make things, summon things-" Roman started.
"Wait, summon things, like animals?" Remus asked.
"Of course! If you wanted to, that is. Although I'd suggest not making it lethal," Roman replied with a smile.
Remus grinned. "Thanks Ro, I think I have an idea!"
"That's great! Let me know if you'd like any help!"
"Thanks!"
Remus smiled to himself as Roman left, carefully working on his idea for Janus. He was certain it would be amazing.
~CHRISTMAS DAY~
"CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS, CHRISTMAS!" Patton excitedly shouted, waking everyone up in the process.
Patton had insisted on a sleepover on Christmas Eve, and none of them had the heart to deny the request.
Virgil yawned, failing to hide the small smile on his face as he noticed Roman stretch, hair messily falling down on his face.
"Nice bedhead Princey," Virgil teased.
Roman playfully glared, clutching his heart as if in agony.
"Why, Emo Nightmare, must you wound me like this? How could you DARE insist that, I, PRINCE Roman, have a-" he tilted his head back dramatically, causing him to see his reflection in a mirror and let out a very un-prince like squawk.
"I'll make the hot cocoa and then we can do the Secret Santa!" Patton exclaimed, rushing to the kitchen.
"I can assist you Patton," Logan offered, putting on his glasses.
"Thanks Logie!" Patton replied, making Logan blush at the nickname.
Remus and Janus slowly woke up as well, both a little excited although hesitant admit it.
"Well, this is not how I wanted to be woken up," Janus mumbled to himself with a soft smile on his face, oblivious to a blushing Remus looking at him. When he looked back and saw Remus staring at him, a faint blush spread behind his scales.
"Hey Janus, there's chaos and I didn't cause it!" Remus said, turning away to hide his blush.
"I'm not surprised, and I don't think you'll add to the chaos as soon as you can-" Janus began, only to see Remus already gone and probably eating something inedible.
After the chaos had died down (Roman brushed his hair and they dragged back Remus from eating Christmas lights), it was finally time for the Secret Santa to begin.
"Me first!" Patton said, rushing to grab the gift he had gotten. As soon as he found it he ran back to put it in Logan's lap. "This is my Secret Santa gift to you!"
"Do... do they know what a SECRET Santa is supposed to be?" Janus whispered to Remus who was sitting next to him, raising an eyebrow.
After taking a moment to collect himself, Logan carefully unwrapped the gift. Inside were multiple sci-fi series that he had been looking for.
"I knew you had been looking for those books, so I got them for you!" Patton exclaimed, voice nearly shaking from excitement.
For a moment, Logan was stunned into silence. However, he quickly recovered and replied with "t-thank you Patton, I deeply appreciate the thought put into this. I look forward to reading them."
Patton quietly peeped a quick "you're welcome," butterflies in his chest from the touched look on Logan's face. Logan suddenly turned back around, handing a small wrapped gift to Patton. "It's not the best, but I hope it's satisfactory."
Patton quickly looked up, momentarily caught up in the euphoria of gifts. He tore into the present to find a small, blue, crotche cat with a tiny heart on it's ear.
"Aww, Logan!!! This is purrrr-fect!"
Logan tried to roll his eyes at the pun, but couldn't keep a small laugh from escaping.
"Me next!" Roman sang dramatically, heading over to Virgil with a carefully wrapped gift and taking a seat next to him.
Virgil carefully opened his gift, slowly taking off the tape and removing the wrapping paper. Roman bounced up and down next to him, both in nervousness and excitement.
After what felt like forever to Roman, Virgil pulled out a dark purple set of headphones, with a black thorn pattern carved into them.
"Woah Princey... did you MAKE these?" Virgil asked, completely in shock at the care put into the headphones he held.
"Yep!" Roman responded giddily. "It took a lot of time, but I figured it out! The thorns were a last minute touch though. Oh! And they also block out other sounds, you had mentioned that your current headphones didn't do that a while ago."
Virgil, one of the most reserved sides, looked like he was on the verge of tears. "Thanks... I didn't realize you cared that much Roman," he said quietly, hiding his blushing face in his sleeves and gently leaning against him.
Roman gave him a soft, genuine smile as Virgil leaned against his arm. "Of course Stormcloud!"
"This is your present... it's awful compared to the headphones though..." Virgil mumbled, shyly taking his head out of his hands and giving Roman a shiny red bag with lots of tissue paper.
Roman being Roman, he quickly (and messily) opened up the gift, squealing when he pulled out a thin but elegant red crown. "It's a CROWN, put it on me, put it on me, put it on me!"
Virgil hesitantly put it Roman, who squealed impossibly louder after turning around and seeing his reflection in the mirror. "I love it!!!"
Roman hugged Virgil tightly, and after the initial shock, Virgil relaxed into the hug. To Roman's surprise, he stayed leaning against him even when the hug had ended. He didn't mind.
"Since it isn't obvious who your gift is from now, here's yours Remus," Janus said, handing a rather large bag to Remus.
Remus immediately tore into the bag, clawing his way in through the side instead of taking out the tissue paper. He gasped in astonishment when he pulled out a long, intricate sword, identical to the one of his logo.
"Woahhhh..." he whispered under his breath, admiring the sword. He looked up at Janus, a huge grin on his face. "Thanks!!"
Janus smiled, secretly relieved that Remus did enjoy his gift.
"I have your gift... I just didn't really have a way to wrap it," Remus said, a hint of nervousness in his voice. "So, uh, hold out your hands and close your eyes."
"Remus, is this something appropriate?"
"Yep!"
Janus raised an eyebrow but did as Remus had asked. A second later, he heard a collective gasp from around the room, followed by something placed in his hand.
"You can open your eyes now."
Janus slowly opened his eyes, shocked to find a small, yellow snake that fit in the palm of his hand. His eyes widened, and for a brief second his face shone like the universe had been placed in his eyes.
"You like it?" Remus asked.
Janus nodded vigorously, at a loss for words but as absolutely adoring the snake that slithered in his hand.
After opening the rest of the gifts, all the sides stayed together for a Christmas movie night. Patton was asleep on a dreaming Logan, and Virgil was asleep against a sleepy Roman who wrapped his arms around him.
"Hey, Janus?" Remus asked, yawning.
Janus looked over.
"Did... did you really like my gift?"
Janus smiled a true, genuine smile, reserved oy for Remus, and kissed Remus's forehead softly, making them both blush. "I loved it."
As Remus soon fell asleep against Janus, the slimey snake boi only had one thought.
Rigging the Secret Santa was definitely worth it.
