I can't believe
Another Black man dead, extrajudicially executed by police
Protestor killed and cops in riot gear arrive first and block the ambulance
It's so so exhausting

The man who assaulted protestors with his car, murdering Deona Marie Erickson, has been charged with intentional second-degree murder, the maximum sentence--if he is convicted--will be 40 years: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/06/16/us/nicholas-kraus-minneapolis-protests.html
It is important to note that Minneapolis' local government made promises to create a separate reviewing body for their police department after the murder of George Floyd by police on May 25, 2020, however, the legislative process has been slow, and the vote to shift city funds towards community support instead of cops is not scheduled until fall of this year: https://www.npr.org/2021/05/25/1000298293/a-year-after-george-floyds-death-plans-for-minneapolis-police-reform-have-soften In the meantime, while Derek Chauvin was found guilty of George Floyd's murder, the other three officers' trials have been pushed back til August 2021: https://www.npr.org/sections/trial-over-killing-of-george-floyd/2021/04/21/989465546/whats-next-in-the-trials-of-4-former-police-officers-over-george-floyds-murder When schools teach about public policy work, they constantly remind students that there is a long process between an inciting incident and the point in which actual legal change happens. Laws take a long time to get written and a longer time to turn into provisions that are enacted. Which, yes, yes, great, people are trying for progress, but when the message is "we must be patient, change is happening" this is what we get. We get authorities murdering Winston Boogie Smith Jr. scarcely two weeks after the anniversary of George Floyd's murder, while a policy draft for police reform is sitting on the desks of the city commission. There are some things that cannot wait for the slowness of the legal process. As of April 2021, across the United States, police have murdered 181 Black people. Every hour spent debating back and forth about the best track to take regarding anti-Black police violence in this country is another person's life snuffed out, another family devastated another community memorial. Abolish the police. Not Reform. Not Defund. Abolish. The. Police.

On the Culture of Vehicular Attacks
https://cwc.im/VehicularAttacks
The murder of Deona Marie Erickson in Minneapolis on June 13 was the result of years of right-wing efforts to normalize—and even legalize—vehicular attacks. Now the corporate media has ceased to prioritize covering them, paving the way for more killings.

EVERYBODY LISTEN UP!
Now, I'm from Australia but I keep hearing stuff about really scary and concerning shit going down in the states, specially in an area called MINNEAPOLIS, USA.
There has apparently been a third military occupation in the city and the social media sourcing recent events that have occurred in the area has been silenced, omitted or heavily contained to the point that ya'll don't even know what's happening barely two states over.
Recent events include the shooting of Winston Smith and the murder of Deona Marie, a protester who was killed by a white supremist who intentionally drove through a crowd of protesters.
Since then, the protesting has only increased in the hopes for support and awareness of the dire situation citizens are in right now, specifically citizens who are POC or part of the Black community.
These protests have been met with undue force and police brutality, police continue to tear gas and use suppressors on their firearms and have demonstrated their force on innocent participants such as photographers.
I would like to make it clear however, that despite my own lack of knowledge on this event, that it is NEVER ACCEPTABLE TO USE DEADLY FORCE ON UNARMED PERSONS! So don't even fucking try me.
The entire world rose up in solidarity for the BLM movement and half of them has followed through with ACAB.
Dont shut your eyes now that you have a new President or now that there's a bigger hash tag trend on you Twitter.
If I'm in Australia and hearing of this, than you going to listen to it too.
Share. Reblog. I don't fucking care.
Just do something.

Private security clears out the Winston Smith and Deona Marie memorial in Uptown Minneapolis. Some of the contractors were carrying restraint zip ties while being armed with military fatigue. The space had been a protest zone after law enforcement killed Winston Smith on June 3rd. Deona Marie was killed 10 days later when a man drove through barricades into the protesters.

As shocking as vehicular attacks are when they occur, they are an extension of the society in which they take place. They are anti-social, but they express and intensify the anti-social premises of our day-to-day relations with each other... People who were raised on advertisements depicting jeeps off-roading across the suspiciously vacant landscape of the frontier only to find themselves sitting in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the freeway for an hour every day look around for someone to blame, and—as if by design—blame those with even less power than themselves. Road rage...
Rather than framing vehicular attacks as aberrations from an otherwise peaceful social order—to be addressed, for example, by more policing—we have to understand them as one of the ugliest manifestations of a social structure that is fundamentally racist and anti-human, which can only be addressed via new forms of togetherness.
Honoring those whose lives have been taken by police and pro-police vigilantes is a first step towards this, and it is important that people have been doing this through shared presence in particular physical spaces. The internet—the information superhighway—tends to reinforce the motorist mentality of abstract competition and hostility.
