Approaching our very own love Hashira and requesting a hug will be met with the same excitement no matter what

“Huh? Do you want a hug? Of course! Come here sweetie, let me hold you for a bit!”

She will be SO HAPPY if you asked ^^

Mitsuri may squeeze you a little, but never too much

Her goal is to get you as close to her as possible, no gap spared between you two

She’s honestly one of the best huggers here

Depending on your height, she’ll either prop her chin on either your head or shoulder

She’s a little warm from her flustering, but still enthusiastic nonetheless

If your head is tucked away, she’ll focus on swaying you both side to side in a rocking motion

Almost as if you two were dancing

But if you face is out in the open, Mitsuri will not waste a second before peppering your entire face in kisses

She tries her best to make you feel loved

Mitsuri absolutely adores hugs so she’ll never turn you down

You sprinted across the house, found Mitsuri and leapt into her arms, yours pulling her in by her neck

Seizing momentum while she had it, Mitsuri spun the two of you around while you were still in the air

But when the two of you had spun enough and she tried to put you down, she realized that your legs were around her waist

You were almost clinging onto her like a koala, and something inside of her melted

She was internally squealing at how affectionate you were :)

Mitsuri’s favourite hugs are ones where she can use her strength, often by lifting you up into her arms

He acts like he hates them

Do not underestimate him and the complete unadulterated adoration he has for you and the few people he lets near his heart

Obanai is just not used to that kind of thing, and it really stresses him out

If you asked him for a hug he would just shoot you a critical stare before groaning out an "Ughhh, fine. Come here"

You would be doing all the work here

Even if you have both your arms wrapped around him, your head resting on his shoulder, he still won't move

Obanai is really stiff about it

If you're lucky, he'll MAYBE pat your back unenthusiastically

Truth be told, Obanai doesn't let people touch him often so he wouldn't have much experience in it by far

Now if you ASKED him what is favourite hug is, he would say the side squeeze he gives you in public

Obanai can get overprotective easily, but he doesn't like showing it

He rarely misunderstands when someone is just being nice or affectionate in a platonic manner and when someone is actually hitting on you

If he sees someone making moves on you or just making you uncomfortable in general, he will glide over there and put his hand in your back pocket

Effectively pulling you into a very tense side hug

Obanai wouldn't say anything, but his main line of protection is his very judgmental look at his target

He wants you to believe that he's tough and all, that guarding you from danger is his greatest joy

But Obanai is really soft

His actual favourite hugs are what he refers to as "Sweater Time"

If you have larger sweaters than he does, he will pull the bottom hem of it up for a minute and pull it over his head

If he's taller than you then he just tucks you underneath the hem of his

Basically the two of you are wearing the same, spacious sweater

He's close enough that just fitting into it doesn't make you feel like you need to wrap your arms around him

But Obanai might pull you in if he just really needs your touch

He absolutely loves holding your face and resting his forehead on yours, absentmindedly tracing your jaw

Takes the opportunity to look into your eyes but Obanai doesn’t hold eye contact for long

You’re in for a ride, that’s for sure

If you ask Tengen for a hug, he’s gonna be so snarky about it

He’ll make you confirm it like 5 times

“Hmm? You want a hug from the God of Festivals? Ahhh, of course, anyone would want to be in my arms! Come closer and claim you prize from yours truly~”

Tengen will motion you towards him, hinting to put your arms around him

Most of the time he’ll tease you about it, but sometimes Tengen will just flash a smile and pull you in

He’s pretty strong so his hugs are pretty tight by default

You can smell a hint of the cologne he uses, which is never too strong in the first place

Loves pressing you in by the small of your back, he can’t explain why though

Tengen’s hands just gravitate there, no lower or higher

Even when you two are already hugging, Tengen will not be able to resist teasing you

He is RELENTLESS about it too

Even if Tengen gets annoying with how affectionate you can be, he doesn't really mean it

Because every now and then, he just needs you there with him for a bit

It doesn't happen often but Tengen does have nights where he just can't sleep

You wouldn't know if its stress, repetitive thoughts or nightmares simply because he refuses to tell you

When he just lies there in the early hours of the morning, he'll carefully drag whoever is nearest towards him

This particular instance, you barely stirred awake as Tengen lifted your body to lie atop of his

If you happen to stay awake, he'll continue his attempts to get you to fall asleep again as he would honestly prefer for you to stay asleep when he's like this

This unconscious "I love you" of yours never fails to bring a sad smile and a few tears of love rolling down his cheeks

Pulls you even closer as he feels joy spread throughout his chest like fireworks

Yes, this is his favourite, and he will reward your efforts with forehead kisses and gently stroking your spine

Sanemi Shinazugawa

Either he has rabies or he just snarled at you

“Why the fuck are your arms like that? Are you looking for a fight?”

If you ask Sanemi for a hug, expect some backlash

See, all you wanted was some affection and somehow he's looking at you like you have two heads or something

"No you jerk, I just want a hug..."

Sanemi is pretty circumstantial with hugs, but he's not like Obanai where he's hiding how soft he really is

In reality, he would prefer that you got a hug from someone else

"Isn't it Mitsuri's day off? She should be in the garden at Shinobu's place"

Due to his workaholic nature, Sanemi doesn't think that he would be the best person for when you want affection

And its not because he hates affection nor does he find you annoying

Sanemi just think that because he's sweaty, covered in a bit of blood and is exhausted beyond belief, that maybe someone else's hug may bring more comfort than he could

But if there's no one else around...

"Mitsuri took a trip to a resort in the mountains, and you're already here"

With a roll of his eyes, Sanemi will acquiesce

"Get over here, you dork"

I will advise you however, that hug will not last more than three seconds

He will be firm in the hug, and maybe he'll give you a few pats on the back, but that's all you're getting

"There, now no more distractions. I've got some unfinished buisness..."

He will immediately turn away and go back to whatever he was doing

Honestly, he's trying to hide how (minorly) flustered he is by your sudden request for affection, but it's not surprising enough for him to let up a little on his unspoken self-consciousness

No, that would take at least a decade of attempts to make any progress

Just take his huffiness with a bit of grace; Sanemi just isn't the best person to go to when you want a hug

But if you come to him with tears dribbling down your cheeks, and a pained expression on your face

If you come to him with opened arms and a few sobs choked in your throat

If you push aside your dignity to allow Sanemi to see you at your worst, and a look in your eyes that shows that he's the only one who can alleviate the pain

She’s kinda iffy with them, but she does have her own preferences

If you approach Shinobu and you ask for a hug, she’ll open her arms to you and motion you toward her

“Oh my, my dear do you need a hug? No need to worry Angel, I’m right here”

She’s definitely shorter than you so she’ll normally press her face into your chest while the two of you embrace

Shinobu likes listening to your heartbeat, and sometimes seizes the opportunity to check your health

Usually she does it because she finds it soothing

Other times, Shinobu just worries even if she knows she has no reason to

Believe it or not but she doesn’t like being held

Shinobu will never breathe a word of it, especially if you’re really affectionate

Would never ask you to stop, she just wouldn’t go out of her way to ask you to hold her

You would think after learning this that Shinobu just doesn’t like physical affection

While cooking some dinner for the two of you, your mind will start to wander about Shinobu

She spends so much time studying medicine that you hardly saw her all day today

Our sunshine boy can brighten even the stormiest days

Kyojuro’s very versatile with affection, so if he knows you have a preference he will heed to it at once

He’ll do it all for you

If it’s possible in the moment, he will give you a loving kiss on the forehead

With how affectionate Kyojuro is, you would think maybe he doesn’t have a favourite hug but that’s not true

“My love! I have finished my project, sit down with me so I may share it with you!”

You had just came back from the kitchen with two cups of tea, setting them on the coffee table

Kyojuro sat on the floor with his legs crossed, arms open and motioning you towards him

Initially you were confused with how close you stood near him, but Kyojuro still hurriedly motioned you towards him

He softly held onto your hips, turning you away from him, and pulled you down so you sat on the floor with him

You were basically sitting in Kyojuro’s lap

He had one arm around your waist, using the other hand to pull the box he was working on for the past couple weeks across the table towards the both of you

It was a time capsule of various items and mementos of time spent with you and his friends

Although the two of you were reminiscing on the memories made , Kyojuro’s focus lied in how comfortable you were to hold in his lap

He fantasizes of turning you around to face him so he could be all romantic and look into your eyes

But yes, Kyojuro’s favourite hugs are the ones where you are seated in his lap

Also iffy but for different reasons

To be completely honest Giyu has no idea what he’s doing

And he doesn’t know if he should tell you

The last thing he would want is to come off as unapproachable (even if he’s aware that most of his peers don’t like him)

If you ask Giyu for a hug, he’ll just nod and open his arms slightly

When you close in on the hug though, his arms aren’t even touching you

They just stay there… hovering…

Good grief help this man

“Giyu, what are you doing…” “Hugging you?” He mumbled

HE DOESN’T EVEN SOUND SURE

There’s no way around it, you have to show him how it’s done

“Let me show you Giyu, put your arms like this-“

He’s still learning so please be patient with him

Even after you two practice a couple times, he’s still awkward about it

Very light grip on his end, he feels like if he were to actually put pressure in his hugging it might disturb you somehow

Like what if he's hugging too tight? What if you want to escape his hold earlier than you thought??? What if he's doing this wrong?????

After you two have hugged in a couple other ways, he starts developing preferences

For an example, he likes draping his arms on your shoulders in a way that they fall down your back

Giyu feels like he’s not bothering you too much this way, and it’s natural enough for him to not overthink it

His first natural instinct isn’t usually physical affection, and Giyu wouldn’t even be able to firmly place what his favourite hug would be due to his lack of experience

But one time you greeted him after he came back from a particularly rough mission

Idk he was just standing in the middle of his yard looking lost and worn out

You tried to talk to him but he was unresponsive, so you just pulled him in

His arms still rested at his sides but from the way that his chin rested on your shoulder, you couldn't have seen it but there was a twinkle in his eye

When you pulled away with a smile and bade him goodbye, you genuinely restored something in him

This is Giyu's favourite hug; ones where you just hold him close without an expectation that he has to reciprocate something

Next time you saw him seated at his desk and writing in his journal you noticed it

You almost missed it but it was most definitely there

A tiny smile was on his face as he printed his thoughts onto the paper

Gyomei Himejima

You wouldn’t notice right away, but he’s actually awkward with hugs

This gentle giant is so huge and you’re so small in comparison he doesn’t know what to do

So if you ask Gyomei for a hug, you're gonna have to be more specific

"You want a hug? Of course. May you please elaborate on your preferences?"

Boundaries are very important to Gyomei

He would prefer if you could have a discussion before you need a hug where you list the things you are and are not okay with when it comes to touch

But if neither of you have had that discussion, just describe what you need from this specific case and that'll suffice for Gyomei

Once that's done, Gyomei will only then allow you to wrap your arms around him

The most common tendencies he tends to gravitate to is petting your head and rubbing your back gently

I will warn you that unless you specify that you don't like getting picked up, Gyomei may unintentionally lift you off the ground by a couple inches

Honestly, he forgot how huge he is and he thought you were taller

If you want to return some level of affection to Gyomei, I would suggest singing some praises for him or making generally happy noises :)

He particularly likes it if you coo a small "Dawwwwwww" or let out a pleased hum, it just pulls a wide grin out of him

When you two eventually pull away, he will without a doubt rustle your hair or pat your head

His biggest priority whilst showing you affection is ensuring that he leaves you in a better state than he found you

Be it physically, mentally, or emotionally, Gyomei will always be ready to take care of you

Even if he's oddly stiff about it

You see, Gyomei is hyperaware of his size and it sometimes conflicts with his confidence in coming off as passive and kind

It's really hard to be perceived as non-threatening when you're 7'2 and one of the strongest Hashira

So he tries to establish boundaries with you not just to respect you and ensure he's not crossing any lines, but also to make him feel safe and comfortable in being affectionate with you

I will add however, Gyomei doesn't have any physical boundaries with you (except killing another living thing without full disclosure)

So imagine his surprise when you ask if you can try lifting him

"You can certainly try- ouf!"

He was interrupted with your efforts to pick him up

Regardless if you manage to get him an inch off the ground, your determination still has him flustered

Gyomei finds your strength and playfulness endearing, letting a soft chuckle at your smaller stature trying to lift his gigantic self

But he'll heartily tell you to put him down before you start to over exert yourself

Gyomei will hold onto you for a little longer in thanks though :)

Because Gyomei's favourite hugs are the ones that make him feel small and cared for, rather than large and nurturing

He appreciates how you remind him of that side of him

Muichiro Tokito (Platonic)

Muichiro needs a good measure of caution if you're going to be affectionate with him

Initially most people would think that it's because you would have to try a couple times to get his attention with the amount of times that he spaces out

But honestly, if you hug him without warning he gets scared

If you ever did pull him into your arms whilst his mind was elsewhere, you can see Muichiro start to panic

He won't say anything about it, just standing very very still

But Muichiro is visibly uncomfortable

I mean think about it, imagine how startling it could be if you were just minding your own business and out of nowhere, someone's in your personal bubble

It makes Muichiro feel like he missed out on something important :/

His shoulders will be shaking as he looks around the person who's hugging him, trying to gauge what kind of situation he's in and what would be the appropriate reaction

Muichiro doesn't really like hugs in general so I wouldn't recommend hugging him in the first place

If anything, Muichiro feels bad because everyone just assumes that because he's a kid that he likes hugs and being coddled

So if you ask him for a hug, he'll politely turn you down

"A hug? Sorry, I'm not a hugger..."

He really doesn't mean it maliciously so please don't hold any hard feelings about it

It's only a personal boundary, he just hopes that you'll respect it

If you want to be affectionate with him, then I would suggest handshakes :)

But I will also raise that there may be a time where Muichiro may want to give you a hug

It's usually when someone accomplishes some kind of feat, and Muichiro just feels really proud of them

So his favourite hugs are the ones that he initiates (usually out of pride)

Muichiro will always do it with his arms wrapped around your waist and pressing his face into your middle

Hugging him back isn't his favourite, but now would be a great opportunity for head pats ^^

Muichiro loves those

Overall you just need to be patient and understanding with Muichiro, and just trust that he will come to you

And you know what, if you really need that hug then Muichiro will at least go out of his way to cheer you up

It just might not be the way that you would expect

Right now, You’re fucking done with everything.

You’re done with Seonghwa, your boyfriend, you’re done with yourself, heck you feel like you’re done with the relationship.

“I can fucking take care of myself Hwa!” you shout back, feeling frustrated, you know Seonghwa loves you, so much so that he loves to pamper you, sometimes too much that it feels like he thinks of you as a mere child he wants to protect.

Just like tonight, you had peacefully told him that you would be fine if he left you alone at the bar while he goes to chat with his friends, since they were celebrating Hongjoong’s big day as a producer after all, although you’re pretty sure you've ruined the night for him.

Seonghwa just couldn’t resist when he saw some guy hitting on you and even swung his fist at him, resulting in you both standing outside after getting kicked out, arguing.

When you told him once again that he shouldn't have been so protective he blurted out something along the lines that you said that cause you do love the attention, or something like that.

Seonghwa hates seeing you like this, more so that he is making you feel like this, but he just wants you to understand that he does it all because he loves you, without a second thought, he says some words he immediately regrets.

“So you call allowing that fucking man to throw himself at you independent? Maybe you are a fucking child Y/N.”

You think you can hear your heart shatter into a million pieces, you don’t respond, mainly cause you are physically unable to, you just want to scream and cry, and you do.

“Stop. I- I’m heading home, and don’t you dare follow me,” you sob and Seonghwa stands stunned when he realizes what he has said and done.

You can hear him calling your name but you choose not to, still sobbing and tears flowing like a river, you open the door to Wooyoung’s car, who had told you before you and Seonghwa left that he could drive you home, almost as if he knew that you would want some distance from your boyfriend.

Wooyoung doesn’t question you, instead he drives to your home, he does tell you that it will be okay every now and then. You wonder if your relationship with Seonghwa is in a critical position, you wonder if you would ever make up.

You do know the amswer to whose questions when you do reach your home and Wooyoung gives you a tight hug, “Don’t worry Y/N, you’ll work things out, Seonghwa loves you nd you love him, arguments happen once in a while, I just know that you guys are made for each other,” he says and you nod, wiping your tears, bidding him goodbye as well as thanking him.

Once you enter your home, you feel like the place is colder, is it because of the feeling of dread you have for when Seonghwa will return home or just because of the weather? Either way, you decide to wash up and immediately head to bed.

Its currently a little past 1 in the morning and it seems like you have cried yourself to sleep, but your ringtone wakes you up, you decide to bot pick up seeing that it was Hwa, but when he keeps on calling you finally pick up.

You don’t say anything, but you can clearly hear Seonghwa sniffing on the other side of the phone, “Y/N... Please, let me in, I’m so sorry, please, ” his pleads are pathetic and Seonghwa knows it.

You hang up without saying a word but you do get up to open the door, after mentally preparing yourself to face him of course

When you open the door, you see Seonghwa, possibly in the most hopeful yet miserable state you’ve seen. He looks stoked to see you, he starts crying, and you are about to start crying too.

He lets himself in, locking the door behind him, “Hwa-” before you can say more, Seonghwa’s soft lips are pressed against yours harshly, you both need this.

He effortlessly hoists you up so that your legs are wrapped around his hips, he doesn’t stop kissing you, instead he makes the kiss deeper, more intimate but you don’t complain.

He somehow managed to stumble into the bedroom and he gently lays you down on the bed, he pulls himself away and you almost whimper, “I’m sorry baby, are you okay with this?” he asks, his voice is full of hurt and regret, you can feel it, because that is also the same case for you when you speak out.

I want to like Rhaenicent but I feel like Alicent protects Rhaenyra and cares for her way more than Rhaenyra does for her. Adult Rhaenicent seems rather one sided to me ngl. One way Rhaenyra betrayed Alicent was by marrying Daemon, a man who absolutely despises the Hightowers and who wouldn’t hesitate to slaughter Alicent’s children. Does Rhaenyra really not realize how ruthless Daemon is? Daemon is arguably the biggest threat to the Green kids who are Rhaenyra’s own siblings. It just kills me that Alicent stood up to her abuser for Rhaenyra’s life in 1x09 and Rhaenyra has never done anything of that severity for Alicent. And Rhaenyra will likely never know how much Alicent fought to save her. Idk, I just feel like Alicent deserves someone who will love her completely. I can’t see Rhaenyra being that person with the way she’s disregarded Alicent’s worries and feelings.

I'm going to be totally honest and I say this with love... a lot of it becomes easily justifiable for me when i acknowledge that Rhaenyra is just a bit dense. like shes always been sheltered and naive, to the point of genuine stupidity sometimes. she isnt inherently so but her father stomped all over her developing any kind of critical mind early on and she did nothing to overcome that mistake. she became far too comfortable with Viserys waving his crown and magic-ing her problems away and its just a fact shes never managed to see things from alicents perspective... but that doesnt mean alicent isnt as equally important to her as she is to alicent. please bear with me because i promise i will explain this fully.

but first of all, to answer your question 'does rhaenyra not realise how ruthless daemon is?' I mean, giving her the benefit of the doubt ...maybe not? shes pretty much always always seen the best side of daemon. with viserys. with her. with their children. what does she know of daemons genuine ruthlessness? we cant say for sure. once again, giving her the full benefit of the doubt, we dont even know if rhaenyras aware that daemon murdered rhea. like daemons not exactly gonna bring it up and who else would dare suggest that to her of all people? sure shes seen him fight at tourneys she knows hes capable of killing but thats a controlled enviroment where its expected. and she clearly feels safe enough with him personally otherwise she wouldnt have laughed in his face after her grabbed her neck.

its going to be very interesting to see what they do with B&C for this reason. because if rhaenyra isnt involved, at least in the Details... will she be shocked by what daemon is capable of? depends on what version of rhaenyra we get post-luke i suppose. but i dont know if i believe they're likely to have her go That dark so quickly that she'd agree to B&C. (sorry. tangent.)

imo you have to try and see her perspective - rhaenyra is deeply Confused. she thought for many years alicent just suddenly Hated her on the basis of her /loose morals/, like purely hated her, the girl she loved is Gone overnight right when they'd begun to reconcile, and she couldnt really understand why. she just does not understand alicents perspective and she cant begin to fathom alicents situation. and in a way, how could she? shes never faced similar limitations theres an argument to be made she wouldnt be able to even conceptualise it without alicent taking her by the hand and walking her through it. even when they were friends i doubt rhaenyra thought about the privileges she held over alicent (after all, she was a child, it was just what she knew and as far as she could see alicent got to do everything she did so there was no visual imbalance). from rhaenyras point of view, all those years alicent was being unnecessarily antagonistic over something that didnt effect her. this girl she loved and in rhaenyras eyes she is betraying her again and again and again. and rhaenyra thought all that because she couldnt see the bigger picture. how could she begin to understand 'alicent fears what my reign could mean for her children' when viserys actively disencouraged her political interest - her opinion on that point would likely only be 'well obviously i would make sure nothing happened to them', not understanding that That isnt the reassurance she thinks it is.

so yeah. rhaenyra truly doesnt understand what went on or whats going on. but alicent Does (and this imbalance is perfectly demonstrated by the dialogue in the knife scene because, lets be honest, alicent pins down the situation and how rhaenyra fits into it kind of perfectly... whereas rhaenyra incorrectly attributes alicents rage to 'righteousness', not fear.). and personally i think thats why it seems unbalanced or one sided, especially in episode 8. alicent could afford to be genuine, rhaenyra isnt hard to read, whereas rhaenyra still had her guard up because she was just so fucking confused lmao. she briefly saw the gentle, beautiful, kind girl she was in love with in alicents treatment of a dying viserys at the dinner table - and upon realising alicent actually Does still have that side to her rhaenyra doesnt know what to do except subtlety apologise for perhaps not truly Seeing alicent and for accusing her of trying to harm viserys. she thought the alicent she knew was long dead until that moment - the girl has got emotional whiplash. so its not that rhaenyra loves alicent less. her reactions in episode 10 make it very clear there is still A Lot going on there for her (and we know emma d'arcy's pov on it was that rhaenyra genuinely considers conceding the throne with the hope of alicent 'taking her back'). shes just very very Very muddled about whether the current version of alicent is Still the person she loves...

and i think maybe 'love' is the wrong word for what they have when theres so much piled on top but its definitely a devotion. its this constant need to reconcile and be close that they just cant shake because a part of them will always desire the other.

tl;dr rhaenyra is just... kinda dumb god bless. and their imbalance is in their ability to understand the situation, not in the amount of love thats held.

Zvtara was more popular than the canon ships before and after Avatar's run. And while Lukanette was popular for a time, it was by no means more popular than that one ship that shall not be named! If anything Zvtara is just as popular as the LS and Zvtara fanfics are similar to Adrien and Marinette's fucked up """"love story"""". I remember reading ZK fanfics where everyone and I mean everyone pushes Zuko and Katara together, Toph, Iroh, they are all reduced to mouthpieces for the Zvtara fanbase. Kind of similar to the creepy ass Adrie//nette cult in the show. I literally found a fanfic where Iroh and Kanna try to get Zuko and Katara together by shoving them in a freezer together, which reminds me a hell of a lot like M*raculous.

And I am not sure why you Z/tara shippers are once again playing victim. Yes, there are Kataang shippers who arrogantly flaunt their canon but I also seen Z/tara shippers who think me and my peers are delusional for not seeing the """"romantic chemistry"""" between Zuko and Katara. I have seen Z/tara shippers act all smug and think they have better reading comprehension than people who ship canon. Not to mention the ZK shippers who think anyone who doesn't like Z/tara hates woman and all Kataang shippers are white men while all PoC are uncomfortable with the idea of Kataang.

And honestly the people who think everyone who hates Z/tara hates women can seriously fuck off! Shipping isn't activism! Some of you really need to get off the computer and touch some grass! And stop talking for all PoC as well! I am PoC! And the way a lot of Zvtara fanfictions fetishize Katara and make her Zuko's exotic girlfriend makes me uncomfortable. And I am not sure why you Aang antis and ZK deepthroaters go on and on until kingdom come that Aang never faces consequences. He felt guilty for burning Katara, for kissing her at the wrong time, for Katara putting herself in the line of danger during the desert episode. Aang saved Kyoshi Island when it was attacked by the fire nation, and he felt guilty and saved Katara and Sokka after hiding a letter from their father from them.

Unlike Adrien whom the creators literally said does no wrong or doesn't need to apologize for anything. Chat Noir ate up kissing Ladybug in Oblivio...Aang felt guilty for kissing Katara in Ember Island Players and didn't bother her about it again.

And Aang takes his role as Avatar seriously! Even if it was all so scary and sometimes he wished wasn't a 12-year-old boy with the weight of the world on his shoulders...Which is human. The ML bible confirmed AdriChat doesn't give a crap about being a hero he's just in it for the freedom!

And again...Not sure why you guys think ZK is like Lukanette...Is every non-canon ship "Just like Zoootara ZOMG!" now?!

They don't have a platform that's self-sufficient yet. It's not guilt tripping to ask for validation and shareability, and maybe I'M being a little presumptuous on your intent here but I'm actually mildly shocked you as a creator dependent on views would be critical of that sentiment and not acknowledge the nuance.

"Likes are worthless and if you don't reblog everyone will think you're a dick" is a take I find frustrating and weirdly entitled. My statement says nothing about the actual value of reblogs or the softer-touch takes about how a reblog can help out an artist. It says exactly what it says: I am baffled by people who are given praise and validation for their work and dismiss it as worthless unless accompanied by active advertisement. We are in agreement about which posts are a problem and which ones aren't.

As an online creator I understand the value of attention. I am very lucky to have built up a sizeable audience across various platforms over the last ten years, and for the first three of those years my audience was quite small and cozy. I never, ever expected so many people to like my work, and I am still shocked and grateful when people tell me they enjoy it. I've never even done "like-comment-subscribe it helps the algorithm" calls to action, and I have never pressured or guilted my audience into giving me attention, because I think an audience acquired through guilt and pressure and weird manipulation tactics is not an audience that's actually getting something out of my art.

So when I see these "welcome newcomers, reminder that if you only like without reblogging you're personally killing artists" it makes me feel like I'm seeing someone open a birthday present and immediately throw it in the trash because they wanted the more expensive model.

Reblog if you want, like what you like, don't do anything you don't want to do. I'm done talking about this.

(Not a bait question, I hope!) Is it me, or is the hatred towards Game Journalists the result of the Alt-Right's Anti-Intellectual "philosophy" infecting the gaming community? It feels like ANY intellectual reading of gaming is hated unless it's "non-offensive" (i.e. doesn't mention politics). Journalists get the brunt of it for daring to criticize gaming on the daily, even if they agree with gamers. (I.E. BG3's rave reviews being ignored in favor of a single article about it being too hard.)

I mean, depending on the read, that's where it started, with Gamergate in 2014. The whole thing was about "ethics in game journalism", remember, which mainly existed to drive a wedge into the community in order to create a smoke screen to harass minorities and women.

A campaign to make people angry about something, but when you tried to clearly define what that something was, nobody could agree. This tied into the general idea that "gamergate had no leader" -- it was a decentralized campaign of hatred that basically let you make up whatever you wanted to be mad about that day. A blank check to gatekeep and be a bigot in subtle (and not so subtle) ways.

A lot of what became the ("alt-") right wing extremist playbook had its first dry run with gamergate. And a lot of GG's hardest core members seemed to transition over pretty smoothly. It was the birth of the "angry white man" that is maybe a little too obsessed with whether or not Brie Larson should be Ms. Marvel. People who willingly slid down the slippery slope and went "weeeee!" as they dove.

And, for the record, I'm sure some people in gamergate were feeling valid unrest about a variety of different topics. But it has become clear to me that a lot of people make assumptions about things they do not participate in, nor understand, and that those assumptions are often wrong. So even the people inside of gamergate, with real valid fears about actual journalism ethics were probably afraid for the wrong reasons about things that might not have even been real problems -- and fearmongers ended up exploiting that to fuel the movement.

That campaign of misdirected fear and hatred is exactly what the alt-right movement was, and to some degree, continues to be. Shut-ins who don't understand how the world actually works, chasing their own tails over self-made anxiety and paranoia, in it so deep they don't even remember which direction is up anymore. And they're angry about it. So, so angry.

hyunjae's a virgo sun and mercury, which means that he's a practical, perfectionist and responsible man. he's also very servicial and seeks for mutual relationships... however, this dude has high standards, he likes being respected and can be too demanding both on himself and on others. jaehyun's a detail-oriented dude who possesses a lot of nervous energy. he hates when things get out of hand and can be quite critical when things don't work the way he wants it. this man has sun trine moon and sun sextile mars, which makes him a very energetic, ambitious and confident person; he knows what he wants. and with his sun sextile neptune, he's also very intuitive and empathic.

jaehyun's a great lie detector with his mercury square pluto! this dude is very opinionated, he loves debates and it's always looking for the deeper meaning of things. however, this aspect along with his aries saturn can also indicate that he can have trust issues and he might feel that nobody understands him.

he has his moon in capricorn, which means that it's hard for him to express his feelings openly and often hides it behind sarcastic humour. sometimes he may feel insecure and he also has a great fear of being rejected. that's why he has the great need to feel useful and productive. it can be hard for hyunjae to relate to people who have different values and opinions... maybe that's why it can take a long time for him to find someone he can trust and love. not to mention his moon square venus! this aspect can indicate that he's afraid of intimacy and, if he ever gets intimate with someone, he's likely to get into bad company and people can use him in some way.

having moon conjunct neptune and moon sextile pluto makes him a very emotional person... however, with his moon conjunct uranus he can be quite unpredictable when expressing his emotions. I feel that he's like those type of people who are happy and loving one day and the next day he's cold af 💀

scorpio is his venus and mars sign, which makes hyunjae a very intense, passionate and loyal lover once he opens his heart. jaehyun's very observant when he's around the person he likes, and when he's on the process of getting to know one another, he's the type of person that wants to know every single detail about you, but he won't reveal much about himself lol. having mercury sextile venus makes him very charming as well! these placements makes hyunjae a very daring person! this man wants to have a relationship that transforms him in some way; he doesn't like superficial relationships. but having venus square uranus and venus square neptune contradicts some of the things he wants to have. the first aspect indicates that he's likely to start dating someone and then regrets it, and the second aspect can indicate that once the falls completely in love with someone, he can be too depending on his partner. this dude get easily jealous, so he feels comfortable when he has the control of the relationship.

it's hard to make jaehyun angry, but when he does he can be very scary... he's also very good at emotionally manipulating others. I feel that this man likes playing the role of the victim in order to get what he wants. this dude is impatient, arrogant, reckless, selfish and quite cocky with this mars square jupiter! like I said before, he likes getting what he wants... but with this aspect, hyunjae can struggle obtaining all of his desires.

jaehyun knows how to work well in groups with his aquarius jupiter and he's also not afraid of trying new things in his work. if he wants to have good look in his job, hyunjae has to be more impartial, cooperative and inventive.

his misson in this life is to work in his self-esteem and be more assertive. he also need to be more focused on details, be more cautious and have a routine. jaehyun needs to take care of his health and focus more on his work.

note: these are just random things i think fit mitsuya. this isn't an x reader specifically, though you are free to picture yourself in certain circumstances if you want. also you can agree or disagree with me, that's fine and i'd love to hear your thoughts on these or even any new ones you have but don't start an argument with me or anyone else please. (yes this is a repost bc Tumblr apparently has some grudge with me?)

• mitsuya is an emotional person who is very good at rationally dealing with his emotions. he is genuinely a smart guy, he can acknowledge and accept his emotions and still only use logic while dealing with his personal feelings.

• ever since he was a kid he has been burdened with responsibilities most children his age don't even properly understand. so that has got to have some effect on him. he has learned to suppress and disregard his emotions. he also criticizes and scolds himself for being affected/hurt/excited about stuff that is less significant in comparison to other emotions often times.

• but when it comes to other's emotions and feelings, he is very sensitive and understanding. no matter how minimal they seem, he would never mock them for it. in fact he is always ready to help however way he can.

• mitsuya is definitely very very good at reading and understanding body language, unspoken words, clues and hints, the atmosphere and the room. he knows when to shut up, he knows when to speak, what to speak and how to deliver it. tone, time and place, he understands it well.

• speaking of which, mitsuya speaks very less. only when needed. it stems both from the fact that 1) he HATES being vulnerable in front of anyone. like it's a big no no for him. as someone who has been burdened with so many responsibilities and has been demanded to show more maturity than his age demands, he feels like he is the one who is supposed to be the sacrificer. he is supposed to be the mediator and the adult of the group. he often blames himself when something goes wrong which he thinks he could have handled. 2) he doesn't really have many people with whom he could talk? his sisters are younger than him, so of course he wouldn't dare burden them with his problems. he is a firm believer in "children should act and be treated like children." his mom is busy almost all the time and the rare times when she does get a day off, he wants her to rest and not deal with her son's issues. draken is probably the only one he goes to for advice if he really needs it, only because he sees him as the only reliable and smart enough person. hakkai is his man when he wants to rant though. hakkai is a very good listener, i believe.

• this boys plans EVERYTHING OUT. like he has a whole list of what all has to be done in a day and he WILL finish it off before transcending into slumber land. a very diligent worker. (mitsuya please take care of yourself and don't become a workaholic bb)

• he makes playlists as a hobby and a rejuvenative activity. he has playlist for every mood. he also has playlists for all his favourite genre of books because he likes reading books. not the biggest book lover in the world but he does enjoy reading a good book once in a while. going to be honest, a well written romance is right up mitsuya's alley.

• when mitsuya has a crush on someone, he draws them in some of his favourite dresses, just to see how they'd look. only out of curiosity, of course. just wanting to know how they would look in his creations. he might also use them as a reference/muse time and time again for his new works, whenever it's possible. now if his crush knows that or not, depends upon how close they are.

• fashion designing isn't just a passion of his without any reason. it's his way of unleashing his ideas and thoughts through his work. this is also a form of art. he speaks and connects through his art. almost all his works have an element of mitsuya in them. sure the tag is the biggest proof who it's creator is, but there are certain details in them that give the dress the Takashi Mitsuya mark.

• you can't tell me he didn't get into fashion when he saw fashionable clothes and was like woahhh i wanna wear them and asked his mother one day and poor boy got his heartbroken because they were so damn expensive. sooooo he decided to do something about it and used his old clothes and thrift shopped clothes and turned into DIY fashionable ones. and that's how he learned how to measure, stitch, sew, and all those things. and when he got so much positive feedback from literally everyone around him it turned into a passion. look at our boy now, he had his first ever fashion show.

• he is a delinquent. he is one of the captains in a gang. he has been doing this for so long and has been around gang members for so long but he still highly, highly values education. it's very important and meaningful to him. he also wants to set a good example for his sisters since they look up to him and copy him so much. but also, he actually, genuinely tries in school because he knows he can and he wants to. he definitely comes a little above an average student and if he put even a little bit more effort and time than he does rather than running around and dealing with gangs he would surely come in the top ten students of his class.

• women feel safe around him. he radiates this vibe or energy where women don't feel on guard and tense around him. same is the case with draken despite his intimidating looking and tall and muscular stature. no matter your gender, he is a very respectful and non-judgmental dude.

• he isn't the best with animals. he is quite a bit scared of them too. but birds do come up to him. every morning he changes the water for the birds from the bird bath and definitely adds bird grains before going to school because every evening when he comes back home, it's empty. this is one of the things that make him genuinely happy.

• he also likes going on walks alone or with hakkai most of the time. it helps him clear his head when home, school, gang and his dumb friends doing dumb things become too much for him. our guy gets angry or at least irritated a little quickly for his good but as i mentioned before, he can handle himself.

• draken has accompanied him once or twice too but they were discussing some toman related things then. draken doesn't really have much free time but we'll talk about it in the draken headcanons. this is about mitsuya.

• right so when he goes on walks he prefers going to the parks where there are fish ponds. he absolutely loves when the fish come near the walls and surround his hand. a grin creeps up his lips and he might look the cutest person when he is genuinely happy and excited. he gets giddy and his cheeks turn slight pink. he loves feeding the fishes. there is always fish food kept there for visitors like him who like feeding the different kinds of fishes in the pond.

• he is the eldest daughter in an asian family for his mother since luna is still small. (poor luna, hope you don't have to become your mother's therapist when you grow up)

• listen up okay? he watches soap operas with his mother. he gets sooo into it sometimes. he and his mom rant about how stupid the characters are or how they would handle certain situations much better. and when it becomes too sad, he might sniffle his tears back but mom knows everything 🎶

• definitely has a job to support his family too. add it to the list of things takashi mitsuya has to deal with. (here take all my love and support, pretty boy. i hear you, love♡)

I think a lot of the issues I have with criticisms of fic that boil down to "this is not to my taste" or even "this does not have good SPAG" and "this prose is very clunky and has all the hallmarks of an inexperienced amateur" is that my big thing is: it's not for you, you just get to read it.

As a writer, I often care A Lot, and frequently too much, about what people will think about my work and what kind of feedback I will get about it, and have written with that as my primary motivation,* but like... even then it wasn't For an audience that I wasn't also the first, and most important, member of. Or it was sometimes, but I always hated the stuff I wrote because people hectored me into doing it. But for the vast majority of the things I wrote: I wrote it because I liked the idea and I wanted that fic to exist.

I am happy to share it and I like hearing what other people who liked it have to say about it (provided it is polite and does not offer unsolicited criticism or make any requests) but it is Not for them: it's for me. My fics are not novels that I need to sell well because my livelihood depends on it and I do not give a shit about writing things that might be popular if I don't like them too. I might be a bit sad if no one likes what I write, but ultimately other people not liking it is not a failure of the work because that's not what it was for.

"I hate this trope" I didn't ask, but sure.

"This is not a convincing medical mystery" I'm very sorry for your loss and I recommend that you read a different fucking fic.

"Ugh, I hate when people don't finish WIPs before they start uploading chapters!" How dare hobbyist writers not think about how you want the security of knowing that their story they wrote for free in their own time will be finished in a way that satisfies you, I guess? Filter WIPs out and stop whining.

Also, to be clear, I am aware that I am doing the very thing that I'm saying annoys me right now by making this post. I'm complaining about something that bugs me that was not written with me and my preferences in mind. But, eh, if they get to complain so do I.

*This got me through a bad time, but only in the way that chewing your own leg off gets you out of a bear trap. I do not recommend it as a strategy if you are not in a bear trap and even then I'd exhaust other escape attempts and calling for help first.

What made Rhaenyra x Alicent so popular when it's very badly written and don't make sense story-wise?

To oversimplify it, and there is a lot of overlap:

A)

Because they don’t know the actual canon story. 

Some believe that because Ryan Condal and some of the show writers read Fire and Blood, they know what they are doing and what’s presented on screen is what happened in canon. (This is dependent on them not caring to engage more and/or not being people who care to think more about what they are consuming).

B)

Because wish fulfillment.

These two women in canon lore where 9 years apart in age with Alicent being the older and hated each other. Because we have:

two women hating each other and fighting for power

the use of the evil stepmother trope

we have some people think these in of themselves indicate sexist writing. A case of women fighting each other because their womenhood makes them vulnerable to competing for scarce resources that men determine for them.

And many people feel that they could have been friends if only the men around them didn’t force them into it. (Meanwhile, this was not the case at all and an extreme misunderstanding of medieval society.)

C)

Because misunderstanding feminism.

Some think that female friendships, by themselves, are enough to gainsay male aggression on a systematic level. Thus they find the relationship inspirational and ignore details or inconsistencies. 

Despite the fact that Rhaenyra and Laena Velayron had a deep friendship in the canon lore. Maybe even a romantic connection. They connected after Laena and Daemon came back from Pentos to birth her last child. Gyldayn writes that:

Whilst Princess Rhaenyra misliked her stepmother, Queen Alicent, she [Rhaenyra] became fond and more than fond of her good-sister Lady Laena. With Driftmark and Dragonstone so close, Daemon and Laena oft visited with the princess, and her with them. Many a time they flew together on their dragons, and the princess’s she-dragon Syrax produced several clutches of eggs. In 118 AC, with the blessing of King Viserys, Rhaenyra announced the betrothal of her two eldest sons to the daughters of Prince Daemon and Lady Laena. This is our canon female friendship of the Dance, which makes so much more sense with their shared personality trait -- daring -- and genuine love for dragonriding. 

I do not want to say that the people who do ship Rhaenyra and Alicent -- or the actors who played them who acted as if these two characters did have some sort of pseudo-romance -- are all brainless. I mean to say that some don’t bother to actually get to know, analyze, or read between the lines of the text for the sake of shipping and superficial enjoyment from seeing two women share intimacy where before, in the canon, they were enemies since Rhaenyra was 10.

They see women-as-enemies as unrealistic or simplistic when the story and context is anything but. If anything, the story shows us the multiplicity of women...you know because they are human. Who want power and still be flawed (Rhaenyra) or evil (Alicent). 

Basically, they think that making a saint or pacifying women is feminism. When it’s actually pedestalizing them and making men “natural” aggressors. And making women into passion-less, ambitious-less pawns for men to use AND assigning their worth to how and when they have sex.

This idea of men-evil-and-women-helpless/pacifists is prevalent in our current society (consider this POST by @rhaenyragendereuphoria).

D) 

Because some are very anti-intellectual and anti-feminism. Misgoynists.

They hate that their idea of femininity is being criticized. This ideal of women-want-power instead of simply being a good wife, mother, “soft”, etc.

E)

Because there are those who genuinely just find both Emma D’Arcy and Olivia Cooke are very attractive and see the show as just something to be apart of the zeitgeist of. 

They don’t want to engage any deeper than that. 

Some might feel “attacked” and dig in their heels and try to find justification to keep shipping the two. Pride then may come into it.

F)

Because performative activism, capitalism and marketing.

Can you explain why you hate this ship, and why you hate it so much that you built your whole tumblr identity around hating this one ship? I haven’t read that far into homestuck to know anything about the ship, and I can’t imagine hating anything that much.

From ruining both Dave and Karkat's character arc, ruining the characters themselves in things like the Homestuck epilogues and Homestuck^2, the oversaturation it has on the fandom to even this day, how bullshit that Hussie tries to claim it was planned all long just to pander to his fans, the unhealthy co-dependency they have on each other to forget they have other friends and family members around them, and how rushed it all seemed by Post Retcon just because VRISKA fixed everything on the meteor. I had made this blog because there are still people who like Homestuck and wished it could be better. But speaking out about it gets you labeled as a bigot, homophobe, hater, or any label if you dare criticize the medium. The push of progressive and puritan culture doesn't help things either that everything has to be diverse and drawing a character in a cute anime style is seen as pedophilia. I wanna be the one that helps others speak out about the series. People can send me death threats and insults all they damn want, but I won't be bothered by it. I will still post about why Davekat sucks and how Homestuck as a series could have been better. Let's face it, Homestuck has fallen into irrelevancy. It's not as big as it used to be. Yes, we got a collab cafe. But it's not as giant as let's say Undertale, Friday Night Funkin, and video game or anime related IPs. If the success of the cafe does succeed that Viz Media could try to revive it, it might come back. But until then, it's stuck in the state of limbo with the indefinite hiatus of a shitty sequel and 2 million dollar Kickstarter game that's still yet to be completed from WhatPumpkin after 10-11 years the campaign was first launched and funded.

Defense of Ben

I have so many thoughts about how people have been discussing Ben’s decision to lie to his dad in ep 5 because some of these reactions really sting. here is the word vomit 

yeah it was a dick move to not own up to him initiating the kiss with Neung but we can’t all be brave in the face of being outed. also to the people saying that if he can’t stand by his choices, he shouldn’t have pursued neung? man, y’all want queer kids and queer adults and queer people to not have queer relationships in secret or express their real gender in private or be their own selves until they’re out of the closet? I get why neung is upset and he definitely has a right to be but i haven’t gotten other people’s harsh critics of ben’s character for the past few episodes and the things people are saying about him in this ep are really just upsetting to me. 

yeah it’s not an upstanding thing but he’s a scared kid who was publicly outed in front of the whole school and he’s being alienated by them, forgive him for not also daring to face off his scary soldier father. Some people are at least saying that they understand it and you know what, I’m happy he did what he did. I’m glad he didn’t join Neung to come out to his father who I don’t trust to not beat/disown him. Ben’s said that he doesn’t like any of the things his father wants him to be and so he became class president to impress him but now the school also doesn’t respect him, so to lose that and also disappoint his father again by coming out? scary. I wouldn’t want him to have to face his father’s wrath while he’s so dependent on him and also to stand beside Neung who doesn’t even romantically like him and they’d break up in 2 days anyway. I don’t know if it’s just like nonqueer people/queer people who live in a supportive environment and so being cast out or punished for being queer is not a worry they have but are you serious? How can you say things like you wanna smack Ben for throwing Neung under the bus? Neung was the one with all the bravado who outed them for certain by saying that it was a proper kiss; no “it was edited” “it was a dare” “we were just kidding haha silly boys practicing kissing together for our future girlfriends” with no regard to whether Ben is ready to fight this battle and Neung also has more faith in Tanya than Ben’s situation with his dangerous, homophobic father. I’m happy for Neung, he’s got a supportive family and the conversation with Tanya was touching, and he’s got Palm beside him but Ben’s situation is so different (including the part where Chopper might’ve been the one who released those photos).

You know People who say "people who critic JK Rowling need to grow up" dont understand that just because she has a tragic past and has trauma and depresion doesn't mean she has the right to hurt others.

That trans people are a minority, that they get murdered everday, that she is triying to take human beings rights away from them just because she disagrees with them.

They don't understand that she only has empathy for very epecific mental ilneses like depresion and eating disorders while claiming all other mental ilneses make you evil, even tho people who sufer from mental ilneses such as, bipolar disorder, schidsofrenia , pshycosis and many others are sufering every day , getting abused by their own family menbers and the hospitals they pot them in ( depending on the hospital, this only happend's sometimes, there very good hospitals out ther, this is not the norm), getting denied terapy and medication and killing themselfs bicause of it.

Or how she made big people out to be evil or gross and ugly when in the era the book publish fatphobia was already super serius, she probably caused a lot of plush size students tu be heavily bullied in meany schools with her books.

They don't understand that not everyone who critics someone is a " hater" who wants to see her fail, or that hates her for being human and making mistakes.

Whe want her to apologise and become a better person, but every time someone dares to say anything she did wrong, she just makes up excuses.
