Bruno wasn’t entirely sure he wanted to talk about; truth be told, he didn’t even want to really think about it. A part of him would always be afraid of ending back up there, seeing no way out and trying to end it all.
It wasn’t just that the others didn’t talk about it, Bruno didn’t either.
He was still scared. He wasn’t sure how his sisters would react if he brought it up.
But…
But maybe it was time to try.
*
Bruno's never read a novel that so openly talks about depression before; he's never seen a protagonist he relates to quite so well. While it's a relief for him, it worries Dolores and Isabela.
Thanks to The Bell Jar, a long hidden secret is brought to light.
The family needs to talk about it.
After all, we talk about Bruno now.

spiderwoman au-
You know how Spider! Mirabel is all happy and hunky dory like 1610 Miles is? Happy, naive, trusting, etc. But Miles prowler variant isn't? Depressed, tired, cold, not a villain but not a hero either, etc.
I introduce to you, Venom! Mirabel: (sad angst ahead)
So, let's just say Venom! Mirabel got her symbiote when she was only eleven. Julieta worked for Alchemax and therefore could bring Mirabel whenever she wanted to if she couldn't find a babysitter.
A symbiote was being tested on and researched over most of the times little Mirabel was just around. One day a fire caused most of the Alchemax to explode, the symbiote got out, and out of an act of kindness, it protected her from being burned.
A little thought I had was that the symbiote liked Julieta, she was gentler with it and talked to it kindlier than the other scientists did. Sometimes the symbiote was able to see a few glimpses of Mirabel and once, was able to see her up close behind glass.
Alma, Pepa, Felix, Agustin, worked there to. Just in different districts. Her daughters decided to follow in her footsteps and therefore met Agustin and Felix there.
So, before the building could fully engulf in flames, the symbiote broke out of glass and protected her from the fire. The five adult madrigals, however, didn't make it.
Mirabel was found in rubble by some firefighters and taken back home. Bruno was surely devastated, as well as the other grandchildren. Antonio was only three months old when it happened, so he didn't really have that much time to bond with his parents, tios, or abuela.
Bruno, who was thankfully left with Alma's inheritance, was able to care for the grandchildren the best he could.
Even though they were fairly high class in wealth, Alma always thought it would be best for her children to live in middle class neighborhoods. She thought that because she came from a typically rich family, and she couldn't stand how uptight and entitled everyone was.
She met Pedro in a simple diner in a Brooklyn neighborhood she was told to never go to. The rest is already known, except Pedro died from a home invasion.
Even through that trauma, she still preferred to live in a simple neighborhood. The people there weren't fake, mean, but at least they were truthful. No one had an image to uphold or someone to impress, they were just people trying to earn a living. (Plus, she wanted the triplets to live next to Pedro's parents)
Her parents cut her off but thankfully she was already working as a scientist at Alchemax. She wanted her children to learn the value of just living life, not valuing money, so she raised them how a typical middle-class mom would (or at least tried to)
So, Bruno and the grandkids live in a big apartment in Brooklyn. The older girls are in college, Mirabel and Camilo go to Brooklyn Visions Academy, and Antonio goes to a good kindergarten school.
Mirabel and Camilo were friends with Miles 42 since second/third grade, thankfully they ended up in the same prestige school so they could stick together.
When Miles 42's dad died, they were able to bond on grief and become a little closer as friends. But that didn't mean they were happy, not at all.
Mirabel still misses her parents and other family members every day and cries herself to sleep most nights. The only people that know of the symbiote attached to Mira are Miles 42 and Uncle Aaron.
She saw them going around places and stealing medicine, and she wanted to help. She instantly figured out it was them; she could recognize Miles' braids and Aaron's behavior easily.
Go here: Unused Spider Verse Test Footage: Prowler "Wiles" Morales - YouTube so you can know what I'm talking about.
She offered to help or more like "I'm helping you and you can't say no to me"
She introduced her symbiote buddy to them, it freaked them out, they got over it, and now she helps with missions when she can.
She often calls Uncle Aaron "Tio Aaron" and Rio "Mama Rio". Same for the other grandkids. And when you think about it, Rio and Aaron are the only parental figures they have in their life. Bruno is their third figure, but he's still at a loving uncle distance.
She's a year older than Miles here (like how Spider! Mirabel is with 1610 miles), so she calls him "Hermanito" a lot, much to his distaste. She's also a few inches taller than him so she uses his shoulders as an arm rest often. Sibling tings.
I feel like Mirabel has more of an alt aesthetic, just to match 42 Miles a little bit. Blacks, Blues, and whites are usually her color scheme.
-
So, let's just say Spider! Mirabel, Spider! Antonio, and 1610! Miles end up in Earth 42. They were all being chased by a bunch of spider people (fighting for they life), told they were nothing but anomalies, far from home, and ended up in a foreign world.
All three of them were tired and exhausted (physically and emotionally) by the time they got to Miles' "home". Mirabel and Antonio stayed on top of the roof to keep an eye out for Miguel or anyone who looked like a problem.
Mirabel got knocked tf out by her variant and Antonio...boy just passed out from exhaustion and shock. Miles gets knocked tf out too and all of them get tied up to a punching bag. Both Mira and Miles staring their variants in the eye.
Other V! Mira facts
V!Mirabel has eyebags, always low lid eyes, some scars along her face and body, and lighter brown eyes.
She's a heavy eater, more so than Camilo, because she is literally eating for herself AND an alien.
Has the weirdest food combination, because again, there's an alien attached to her with the weirdest food cravings.
Loves to code and make a few gadgets here and there.
Instead of the accordion, she likes to play with an APC and make beats from time to time.
BVA's top student, as well as Miles and Milo.
She still embroiders and sings, but she boxes too. Miles is usually her boxing buddy.
Mira stopped doing ballet at eleven, she just lost motivation after most of her family died. She continues to do gymnastics but only to make her fight better in combat.
She is a smart a$$ if you've ever seen one, give her the chance and she will get smart with you. Dolores had to hit her with a wooden spoon once or twice to make her tone it down. (And trust me, Dolores keeps that spoon locked and loaded just in case anyone wants to get smart, as well as a chancla).
Makes sweaters and some baked deserts for Rio, Aaron, and Miles. It's her way of showing affection because, unlike spider! Mira, she doesn't like being touched that much.
Likes teaching Antonio how to code and make some tiny robots here and there.
The symbiotes name is Mariposa, name given by Mirabel of course.
Whenever Rio gives attention to anyone other than her or Miles, she gets a little jealous.
But she is MAJORLY jealous of spider! Mirabel having her whole family intact and happy. So, she has a little resentment toward her. Can you blame her?
Very observant of everything, even small details. That's how she easily noticed who Aaron and Miles were when they were flying across the sky. And in her eyes, they weren't hiding their identities very well to begin with.
Rio, Bruno, and the other grandkids think something romantic is going on between her and 42 miles and they are just like..."no". But they do find it funny.
Mira does NOT eat people, if Mariposa is that hungry Mariposa will just remove itself from Mirabel and go after whoever was a threat at the moment. Then it will become with Mira again, but under no circumstances will it eat someone while fused with Mirabel. The creature already knows the girl is traumatized it doesn't want to traumatize her more.
Also, if Mirabel smells anything related to fire smoke, she'll get extremely nervous. If there's a fire nearby, she'll try to help get people out but she's gonna be having flashbacks of what happened to her all through it.
afterwards she's just gonna break down crying. Oh yeah, she hates crying, so when she's doing it, she tries her best to stop.
That's all I got, but more spider stuff coming soon.
WOWOOWOWOW SO COOL!! I do remember some Venom lore. Not a lot, gotta brush up tbh but I son’s really invest in it too much 💀💀 ANYWAYYYY. VERY SAD. But at least Bruno stepped up because. It must’ve have been hard on all of them, but especially Bruno. Bro lost his whole family and the. Had to step up to raise some kids. One of them mfs got a symbiotic, which is. CRAZY 🦜
Passing out from exhaustion is so real. Common Antonio W

What was family's reaction at girls' deaths in reincarnation au?
I’ve mentioned this before but Mirabel’s death has zero impact on life in Encanto. Everyone carried on as though she never existed to begin with.
In sheer contrast, Isabela’s death was still being mourned when Luisa died. Several family members blame themselves for not reaching out or trying to help. The family (aside from Dolores and Luisa) never really get over it: it came as such a harsh shock. Milagro is viewed very sympathetically as a tragic widower and is still close with the Madrigals (though he did remarry and move out), especially Abuela.
Most of Encanto was lost following Dolores’ death because of Pepa’s grief and the subsequent storms. Camilo, Pepa and Félix are deeply wounded by the loss and fall into a deep depression. Antonio is pretty traumatised by the deaths of Isabela and Dolores. Julieta blames herself for not being able to heal her niece; Bruno also blames himself for not foreseeing the miscarriage.
None of them know how the family took Luisa’s death, so… it’s a mystery.

my random and lost ideas of Encanto fanfics:
(still no name defined) Bruno Madrigal x Fem! Reader
"What do you mean I'm not going to marry Alvaro, but with you, and we're going to have three children?!"
In which, with just a few days to go before your wedding to Alvaro Guzman, you decide to consult the well-known and controversial seer of the Madrigal family, Bruno.
However, the responses and perceptions you received were quite different from what you expected; with the man envisioning nothing more than her marriage, not to her current fiancé, but to Bruno himself.
— the plot is already pretty clear, but I'll add a few more things; takes place well before the events of the film, at the time when Bruno, Pepa and Juliet were teenagers (around eighteen/nineteen). And Reader's marriage to Alvaro Guzman (Mariano's uncle) has been arranged, she is unhappy about it but knows she can't do anything to stop it. Therefore, he decides to consult with Bruno Madrigal, even with his family's warnings about his predictions being, hm...Complex. We'll have a time skip and the rest of the fanfic takes place in the current times of the movie (1950's) and the rest... Maybe someday I'll write.
//
still no name defined (Camilo Madrigal x Fem!Depressed! Reader
Living in such a happy and colorful place as the village of Encanto, it was not at all expected that you would develop illnesses like depression and, shocking everyone, even try to take your own life; however, it had already happened, and being extremely worried about the direction the case could take and how it would affect the whole city, Alma Madrigal decides to send Camilo, her only grandson with the same age as you, to keep you company and even keep an eye on you and your behaviors. What, in the beginning, seemed totally unnecessary and even irritating, ended up being her salvation and drastically changing her life; and, suddenly, Camilo Madrigal's constant presence in her life didn't seem so bad anymore.
— the synopsis was horrible, but I don't care. It was a first draft just so you guys have an idea of how the fanfic will be. But she's the story I'm most fond of and most likely to write first, so treat my baby well.

Neurodivergent Madrigals
So in the tags of my first headcanon list @omgcheez mentioned neurodivergent headcanons for the canon characters, and it got me thinking. I don't know if I would call all of these headcanons, most of them are my interpretations of canon, or theories I have, but that's close enough.
Bruno- Dude has OCD, they put it in the script, the creators said he’s based off of ND family members, it’s canon. Dude may have autism too, I am largely apathetic to that reading of his character. I neither like nor dislike it. I think it works for him but his character also works without autism. I do headcanon that he comes out of the walls with back problems that not even Julieta can fix, that will make him bed ridden in the last year of his life.
Alma- The whole movie is kind of contingent on her PTSD. Like, she watched her husband get murdered right in front of her and it changed her. It would be really weird to be like “Yeah, sure, her trauma changed her forever, but it didn’t alter her brain chemistry or anything!” So yeah, Alma has PTSD.
Pepa- I don’t know a lot about anxiety disorders, so this theory is one grain of salt away from being canon to me. Is it still an anxiety disorder if the thing making you anxious is the ever looming threat you might summon a hurricane? Or is that just perfectly normal, non-disordered anxiety? Either way, the woman is constantly anxious, so depending on the definition of Anxiety Disorder, she probably has one.
Antonio- This is in that nebulous space between “an idea the writers had” and “something that wasn’t in the movie”. It’s not technically canon, but it’s a little more than a fan theory. He was originally supposed to be non-verbal, so unless the plan was for him to be straight up mute, I think it’s pretty safe to read him as autistic. Although mute Antonio would have been interesting too.
Luisa- This is on the line between fan theory and headcanon. Her people pleasing tendencies scream anxiety disorder to me, especially considering the way she melts down when she feels like she’s disappointing everyone.
Dolores- I don’t think the writers intended for her to be autistic, but a lot of people in that community vibe with her, so that’s a headcanon I will go to bat for. I think that even if she isn’t literally autistic, her gift effects her in ways that she kind of might as well be. Y'know? It's like with Alma, it's sort of weird to be like "Yeah, ok, so because of her super hearing she experiences a lot of the same issues as an autistic person who struggles with sensory sensitivity, but she doesn't have an autistic brain! Just an extremely similar life experience!".
Mirabel- She’s probably got some unaddressed depression, I feel like that’s kind of a given. Although, the movie sets her up more as a metaphor for being physically disabled.
Isabela- I think you could very easily read Isabela as being some variation of ND that hyper fixates (on plants), and she just has masking skills off the charts. So either autism or ADHD, or both.
Julieta- IDK what problems Juli has, but realistically she’s been dealing with gruesome injuries from a young age. So she’s probably got some sort of trauma response. We don't see enough of her character outside the role of Caring Mother for me to make a call on this.
Camilo- He’s a theatre kid.

It’s over, Isn’t it?

Camilo Madrigal x Reader x Carlos Madrigal: It’s over, Isn’t it?
Warnings: angst, Depressed Camilo, mentions of death
Genre: Angst, pining?
More of my works if you’re interested:
Masterlist
————————————
Camilo had been best friends with you for over ten years now..
Which means he’d kept you a secret from Carlos for ten years now..
Now, Camilo was never worried about the other guys in the Encanto winning you over, He was a Madrigal for goodness sake.
But Carlos?
Camilo knew that the moment Carlos saw you, He’d tried to have you.
And Camilo wasn’t gonna let that happen. I mean, He’s loved you since the moment he met you, The moment where you saved him from a couple of bullies at only ten years old.
He knew that he was gonna marry you..
Until his brother screwed everything up.
Carlos just had to follow Camilo on the day he was gonna ask you out, Carlos just had to introduce himself, and you..
You just had to go and fall for him..
Now it’s been twelve years..
And you’re now Carlos’s girlfriend.
And Camilo would be lying if he said he was happy for you two, Cause in reality, Camilo wanted to throw his brother of a cliff for what he did. But also in reality, Carlos didn’t do anything wrong.
You don’t belong to Camilo, And Camilo never told anyone about his feelings. Carlos simply asked you out before he could, And that’s no reason for him to hate his brother.
But why does he?
Why does he bicker with Carlos over the little things, Especially about you, Like he’s trying to fight him for you, Like he’s trying to win you back.
But, He never does.
He never won your feelings.
You love Carlos.
Now it’s been 20 years..And you’re gone.
You died giving birth to Carlos’s son, His baby.
As Camilo holds the baby, Dried tears down his face. He rocks him gently as he sleeps in his arms, Camilo lets out a soft sigh, Leaning his head back against the chair.
He stares at Carlos from across the room, Carlos looking like an even bigger mess than Camilo does as he and your parents plan your funeral.
Camilo closes his eyes, Letting one stray tear run down his face.
“ Hey..” Camilo heard his brother’s voice, Although it sounds strained.
Camilo opens his eyes to meet Carlos’s glossy ones. “..Hey.”
Carlos offered a very small smile before it quickly faded away. He sighed, Leaning again the wall near Camilo’s chair.
“..I can’t believe it’s over..” Carlos tightly shut his eyes closed, to prevent anymore tears from coming up. Camilo’s eyes trailed up to Carlos’s face. Now in this moment, Camilo shouldn’t have the right to get angry, You had only died a few days ago.
But he can’t hold it in anymore, With all the emotions it was bound to come up.
“ But hey..You won.”
Carlos opened his eyes, Furrowing his brows in confusion as he looked down at his younger twin brother. “ What?”
“..You won..she chose you..and now she’s gone.”
Carlos scoffed. “ Camilo..out of all times you wanna argue with me, You choose now?!” He raised his voice slightly.
The yellow twin glared, Tears swelling.
“ Yes now! Cause now it is over! You took (Y/n) away from me! She didn’t chose me, But she chose you! She loved you! And now she’s gone!”
Carlos huffed in frustration, gripping at his hair, About to yell, But froze when he heard his baby stirring awake in Camilo’s arms.
Carlos looked at his baby, Letting out a deep breath in attempts to calm himself down. He walked over to Camilo, Taking him from him gently. He backed away, Bouncing the baby so he wouldn’t wake up.
“..I know you hate me right now..but..at least be here for him..I can’t raise him on my own, Camilo.” Camilo’s furrowed eyebrows softened when looking at the healthy baby boy in Carlos’s arms.
“....Yeah..ok..” Camilo leaned back in his chair, Looking away from Carlos and the baby.
Carlos muttered a thank you, As he walked out.
Camilo stayed, Staring at the wall, Tears now running down his cheeks. “ It’s over....isn’t it?”

One More Time (Julieta x Fem!Reader) Pt 20 (Finale)
Tumblr media
We have finally reached the end!
As always I am not a native Spanish speaker, so if I butchered a sentence or word let me know so I may correct it.
This one ended up being super long so I hope it’s something you all find worth reading.
Part 20 of 20
I did not make the gif.
Things to note: Julieta is a widow. Reader is 30. Talks about depression early on.
Please don’t tear it apart too harshly!
You were bored. Everyone had their jobs and chores and you had nothing. Oftentimes Mirabel and Camilo stayed behind and you’d play games with them. Mirabel had also begun to teach you to sew but you weren’t very good at the task.
Sometimes you wanted to go for a walk but the children insisted you stay with them at casita. As the weeks dragged on you barely left the walls of the main house and you were ancy.
You had no work, you were being held here; because no matter how much Julieta told you the teens loved you there was no way they were willingly giving up hours each day to keep your company. You had even begun to miss your little home. Casita was great but it cleaned itself. Julieta did all the cooking and insisted you just relax.
Everyone was in a routine and you felt like you were in limbo. Drifting around useless to the people around you.
“I think I’d like to go home.” You told Julieta one evening as she cooked. She almost dropped the wooden spoon she was stirring with and turned to face you.
“Is everything okay?” She nervously asked.
“Of course…I just feel so useless here. I have no job. For some reason your family is holding me hostage and won’t let me venture past the yard. The house cleans itself and even you won’t let me help cook.” You said and sighed.
Julieta hadn’t really thought about it, but it made sense. Your whole life had been uprooted and with your workaholic tendencies you haven’t adjusted well.
“Lo siento I never meant for you to feel like that.” She put the spoon down and sat beside you.
“It’s just, we’ve been working so hard on a surprise for you and we didn’t want it to get spoiled prematurely.”
Of everything that could have come out of the healer's mouth you never would have guessed you were being held hostage for a surprise.
“A surprise? You know I don’t need anything.” You said.
“I know you don’t, but all of us really wanted to do this for you. So tomorrow morning when Mirabel asks you to go to the fabric shop I need you to act like you don’t know anything.” Julieta said with a smile.
You raised a brow at the healer but agreed.
Except Mirabel never asked you to accompany her anywhere. In fact you didn’t see Mirabel at all that morning. So when Julieta came home for lunch you couldn’t help but question her.
“Y/N what are you doing here? You should be out with Mirabel.” Julieta said when she saw you sitting at the window.
“I haven’t seen Mirabel all day.”
Julieta scrunched up her brow.
“It’s not like her to just up and vanish like this. Do you think something happened to her?” Julieta said, worry was etched on her face. You were quick to approach her and take her hands.
“I’m sure she is okay. She’s a tough girl.” You said confidently.
“Still, I’d feel better if I knew where she was. Help me look?”
“Of course I’ll help.” You said. It was the first useful thing you’ve done in weeks, but you kept that thought to yourself.
The two of you walked side by side calling Mirabels’ name. You stopped and asked a few villagers if they’d seen the girl. The fourth person you asked had seen her and Julieta sighed in relief and the two of you were quick to follow his directions.
You didn’t even realize your proximity to Palabras Suaves until you rounded the corner and froze.
“Surprise!” The Madrigal family along with many of your loyal customers shouted.
“Do you like it?!” The not so missing Mirabel asked.
Before you stood a new building in the ashes of what was once your store. It was painted in bright vivid colors and had a beautifully carved sign above the door letting you know this was the rebirth of your sanctuary
Your mouth gaped and you looked like a fish. For the first time in your life you were truly stunned speechless. A nudge from the woman beside you drew your attention away from the storefront.
“You tricked me!” You said incredulously.
“Well of course. You knew something was going on so I had to throw the scent off us.” She teased.
You looked from Julieta, to the people gathered, and then again to the new Palabras Suaves. Your eyes began to water as you felt so overwhelmed with emotion. Julieta simply smiled and took your hand and led you to the front door before offering you a key.
“Go on, tell us what you think!”
You looked from her shining eyes to the excited stares of the others before putting the key in the lock and entering the brand new store.
It was stunning. Isabella’s creations were tucked away in different locations. Mirabel has sewn her little fingers to the bone making new and improved overstuffed cushioned chairs. Books lined brand new shelves but the layout remained the same, including how you had previously organized the shop.
Behind the counter, hanging on the wall was the photo you had tossed back to the ground. Your small toothy self smiled back at you and above the frame a piece of the original door frame was mounted. You didn’t know how they did it but there you saw your parents' names engraved on the wood, along with your own.
You turned to face the family that was grinning from ear to ear at you.
“How did you do this?!”
“It wasn’t easy.” Pepa said.
“We came up with this plan a while ago and while our family are the known carpenters in town, most people know when we are building them something.” She added and nudged Luisa who grinned in response
“We have connections in the city and we were able to purchase and receive donations for all these books.” Alma said. She was already glancing over at the new and improved romance section.
“The reason Mirabel and Camilo kept you occupied for weeks was so you didn’t accidentally stumble upon the construction.” Julieta stated and grinned at your shocked expression.
Your jaw dropped. When Julieta said they had a surprise for you you thought…well you hadn’t thought! Never in your lifetime would you have guessed they had rebuilt your beloved store.
As you looked around you noticed more and more little details. Someone has definitely broken into your house and found your few remaining family photos and had them displayed. You discovered you had a much friendlier looking children’s section thanks to Antonio’s supervision. As you continued to move around you saw Isabela had added many more odd and unusual books to her favorite section.
Your favorite new addition was the board on display by the counter. Each Madrigal had written their favorite book and why they loved it as a recommendation for future customers.
You couldn’t take it anymore and you openly wept. Your heart swelled and you never could have imagined the amount of love you felt in that moment. This really was your family. The younger ones grew worried but the older generation knew they were tears of joy.
“How can I ever repay you for all of this?” You asked, facing the family and wiping the remaining tears away. Julieta approached you and fished into her apron pocket revealing the deed you had asked her to hold on to.
“You don’t need to repay us. We believe that we will never truly know how far a little kindness will go so we share it whenever we can.” She said with a knowing smile.
You couldn’t help but laugh as you took the envelope. The two of you really had come full circle from when she first burst through your door all those months ago.
You couldn't help yourself as you grabbed her face and pulled her in for a deep kiss, earning a cheer from the group.
Bruno nudged Pepa, getting her attention.
“Now that’s the vision I had.” He said, earning a laugh and playful shove from the red head.
When you parted Julieta was quick to grab your hand and drag you away from the family. Where she led you caused more tears to well up. The aisle that the two of you shared so many special moments together looked almost identical to what it had been previously.
Julieta tugged you down to your chairs where the two mugs you had saved were waiting for you, as well as a plate of cookies. You each took your proper seats and you picked up your mug.
“Now don’t get any ideas about controlling this kitchen. This one is mine, Señora Madrigal.” You stated, earning an eye roll.
“I wouldn’t dream of it, and how many times do I need to tell you to call me Julieta?”
You raised your hand to your chin and tapped.
“Hmm at least one more time.”

Could you write a Camilo x male reader fanfiction preferably fluff where y/n is a friend of mirabel who is the same age as Camilo and is described to be really warm and sweet with blue eyes and pink hair and the story follows their relation ship
Girl yes!! Thank you for being one of my early requests like you do you queen/king/thing!! Also y/n is a bit shy in this🥰
TW: Male reader, encanto
"Hey y/n would you like to come to mi casa this afternoon, mi familia's cooking empanadas and they really want to meet you anyway!" Mirabel asked. Currently y/n and mirabel were walking to y/n's house after shopping at the plaza. "I don't know, im lowkey a bit nervous to meet your familia... I mean they all have powers so wouldn't I stand out?.." Y/n asked, he was an outgoing person sure, but anyone would be nervous to meet the madrigal family. Especially considering they are the only thing keeping this town together. "Girl i've lived there my whole life without powers and the only thing that's ever happened to me is being shit talked in front of my own eyes by my abuela, im sure you'll be ok." Mirabel said, without a trace of depression. "Um, ok sure if you really want me to..." Y/n said, getting ready to meet the madrigals.
Later on at the casa:
Y/n straightened his back (unlike his sexuality) and knocked on la casa's door. He was then greeted by not mirabel, but her older sister Isabella. "Omg hola, you must be mirabel's quirky little friend y/n?" Isabella asked. Y/n tried to keep his confidence up, he was talking to the girl that could make her own plants, if he messed up he would kill himself on the spot. "Y-yes! It's a pleasure to meet you Isabella!" Y/n said, cringing at his stuttering. "No need to be nervous! Our familia is so excited to meet you!" Isabella said, signaling him to come inside. "T-that's nice to hear..." Was all y/n could splurt out before dashing inside.
Y/n tried to look around for his friend Mirabel, but all he could see was the madrigal family smiling, waving and talking to him. He couldn't handle all the attention so he politely asked if there was a baño nearby. Julieta, Mirabel's mother, pointed him to down the hallway. So he awkwardly excused himself to the baño.
He was on his way when he noticed someone coming down the stairs. It was mirabel! Finally. Y/n smiled and called out for her, in which she waved back. But what y/n didn't know is that he was NOT looking in front of him. He was about to run into a wall, but thankfully casa came in clutch and pushed him backwards with tiles. It was a bit too hard though, because he ended up crashing into someone who was trying to talk to him behind him. He fell into the arms of none other than Camilo Madrigal. His hands were on y/n's waist as y/n sat in his lap, both of them in an awkward position on the floor. "O-oh my gosh i am so so so so sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going and!-" Y/n was cut off with a cute chuckle coming from Camilo. "Woah woah relax mi amigo! It's all good, calm down!" Camilo said patting y/n's shoulder. "Are you y/n? Mirabel's friend?" Camilo asked as y/n nodded silently. Y/n turned around to see his face and immediately blushed from how close they were to each others lips. Camilo and y/n stopped talking and stared into each others eyes. But before they could do anything else, they were cut off by Mirabel screaming.
"Y/N?!?!? CAMILO??! WHAT ARE YOU BOYS DOING???" Mirabel was definitely not expecting this. "I-its not what it looks like! I bumped into him by accident and we got into this awkward position!" Y/n said getting up, Camilo getting up too. "Well whatever your excuse is, just hurry up and let's go to the table!" Mirabel said dragging y/n to the dining room, leaving camilo awkwardly waving at y/n goodbye as they both blushed.
Everyone sat at the dinner table and y/n noticed camilo taking the seat opposite him, where they both awkwardly blushed and smiled at each other. Mirabel noticed this, and flung her napkin to y/n's face to get him back on track. "So y/n, what do you think of our casa? It's pretty cool isn't it?" Luisa asked, trying to start a conversation. "Yes it's very beautiful, but it's also way bigger on the inside than i expected!" Y/n responded, taking a bite into his empanada. It was delicious. "Oh my Ms. Julieta, this food is amazing!" Y/n said, biting viciously into his food. "Gracias Y/n, all the best for Mirabel's friend!" She said, happy that y/n was enjoying her food. Abuela then spoke up. "So Y/n, is there something going on between you and mirabel?" Abuela asked, making Mirabel, Y/n and Camilo spit their food out. "Ay watch it! I just cleaned the table cloth!" Pepa yelled, smacking Camilo across the back of his head as he wiped his mouth. "N-no abuela! Not at all! Y/n's just a friend! In fact he's ga-" Y/n stomped on Mirabel's foot before she could continue, making Mirabel yelp in pain. Y/n didn't need the madrigals knowing he was a fruitpop, especially Camilo. He didn't know why, but Y/n just couldn't let Camilo find out. Camilo probably took the hint though, as he stared at y/n confused. Before anyone could talk, y/n got a call from his backpack, which casita threw over to him so he could answer. "Who is it?" Mirabel whispered as everyone slowly started talking to each other. "It's my mum, give me a second." Y/n said answering the phone. After a few minutes he hung up with a sad expression.
"Sorry everyone, but my mother needs help at home, so i will unfortunately be leaving early. Thank you for having me!" Y/n said getting up and leaving as everyone waved goodbye. As he was about to leave, someone grabbed his hand. Camilo, who was blushing. "H-hey um.. I know we didn't talk much this evening but.. if you ever wanna hang out around the casa without my loser of a cousin mirabel, i could always show you around. Even a personal secret tour of my room!" Camilo said proudly, making y/n smile to himself on how cute Camilo was trying to impress people. "Of course Camilo! Until then." Y/n said waving him goodbye. Unlike last time, Y/n wasn't so nervous about going to the casa anymore.

After reading about the Caño Cristales river (the place that was an inspiration to Encanto), I have this really trippy camilo x reader fiction that I thought of.
It revolves around two lovers in different dimensions who live in the same physical reality but cannot meet,
yet.
p.s: this contains mentions of alternate dimensions and parallel realities. if you're a reality shifter pls be warned. ++ adding my taglist bcs even if this isnt a proper fic, i feel like its worth sharing yall to hihihihihih
Tumblr media
You and Camilo jolt up in bed at the same time, in each other's beds at each other's house. Eerily enough, something is different about this day.
After days of doing chores, Camilo wanders on a secret garden hidden by the bushes at the back of Casita, he falls in love with the scenery and makes it his new safe refuge.
He comes back on a sudden evening to the same secret garden, only to stumble upon hundreds of paper planes scattered along the rocks.
Inside the paper planes contain letters; journals from someone whom he didn't know of. Thinking that the person who was once there probably left it there, he decides to write back.
Coming back to the same garden, you unknowingly question the weird person writing letters to you back.
After days of writing back and forth, it is then that both of you and Camilo realized that you live in different dimensions, but at the same physical reality.
Camilo finds some strange attraction to you, and you find admiration in him despite not knowing what each other looked like. You are an artist therefore you were able to draw yourself while Camilo was an amazing writer that wrote detailed descriptions about his features.
It happened, falling in love with someone you interacted, but never met.
This went on for longer, both of you thought you were delusional, a fragment of a lover created only from the reciprocation of a strange presence.
It was not until then, Camilo's life was falling apart. His families magic, breaking; his cousin, living his uncles vision that everyone feared of.
Unbeknownst to him, when Casita crumbled into pieces, you were along the radius. Since you both lived in the same physical world, you died after the separation of the mountains, falling into the cracks from the dying magic.
Camilo was distraught, no longer were you interacting with him with letters and paper planes. He thought that you were a fragment of illusion from the miracle's magic, and when it died, it brought you away from him as well.
Filled with derealization and hallucinations, Camilo grows insane. Day by day without his magic and you, it was like he lost his identity.
One day, he ventures to the Caño Cristales river, a magical place where the river glows in various colors.
Distracted and depressed, he dips in and drowns.
But all of a sudden while beneath the water, something pulls him up. Camilo's unconscious state rests while the strange entity pulls him up from the river and then back to the riverbank.
Camilo wakes up to a whole new feeling. His surroundings felt different than his usual sighting. The place glowed in orange hues, a color that indicates change. There were butterflies everywhere, a symbolism of metamorphosis, change.
The one insane thought in his brain told him that he shifted into another reality; one of which was different from his own.
Hastily, he runs back to the Casita to confirm his thoughts but alas, there is no Casita, no Madrigals, no village, just a plain empty valley. Nothing but vegetation around him.
Camilo was lost.
Not until he saw a figure running through the trees and chased it.
It was you.
Finally meeting you, both of you melt into each others embrace, taking in the sight of how each other looked.
He was finally happy, but deep down he wished he was back to his physical, original reality that despite you being apart, he gets to live a normal life.
You noticed his hesitation and deep down, you wanted the same too. So you explained the things you have theorized about the situation.
The cause of your death was from the domino effect from Camilo's dimension. The Madrigal's magic crumbled in his dimension and eventually led to your fall from the large cracks on the mountains.
But,
The Caño Cristales river is an outlet for change. The various colors beneath the surface allows you to shift into different dimensions, different realities. And since you both died, you from impact and him from drowning, you were both brought to the afterlife. The physical reality for those who weren't living no more.
You suggested to Camilo to dive into the river, while holding each others hand. You thought that if you both travel into another reality while being physically connected, it would take you to the same one.
Though hesitant, there was a risk.
A risk that it may not work.
A risk that may alter the timeline.
Camilo and you reassured each other. "Think of the day we both met, maybe we can come back to that world".
Both of you dove in to the rainbow-hued mirror. A love dive. Holding each other so tightly afraid to let go. Still holding on, both of you blacked out.
But as soon as his hand landed on one of the paper planes, he felt a warm palm rest on his hand. Camilo looked up to the soft hand grasping his,
It was you.

Pariah AU | Julieta ( miscarriage tw )
Tumblr media
This is Verana Madrigal, known as Rana for short, if the fourth daughter of Julieta and Agustín of the Pariah AU, conceived 2 months before the Casita’s rebuild was completed after the Encanto found out via Camilo of Julieta’s actions to interfering with Mirabel’s ceremony, somewhat turning them more against Julieta as they came to the conclusion she had effectively destroyed the miracle that had protected them.
Things got difficult after the residence they had been at didn’t want Julieta there but thankfully, Agustin’s mother was quick to lend a hand, inviting them to stay. So they did.
Agustín came back to help comfort his wife, which did work for a small part of time but reality of the situation wasn’t different.
So for 9 weeks, Julieta didn’t notice the signs of pregnancy, assuming mostly the symptoms were a result of stress and depression she had been handling since the collapse.
After the magic returned, Dolores picked up the subtle sounds of fetal heartbeats but wasn’t sure if she should tell anyone, as she assumed that Julieta knew given her Tia had three other kids before.
Three weeks later, Julieta went MIA after a nasty spout of gossip pushed Julieta into a disassociated state to Encanto; which Dolores did hear initially but didn’t think Julieta would get far as she went to get help to bring her back.
As the family began to worry when Julieta didn’t return that night, Dolores did let slip that Julieta was carrying twins; given how many hearts she heard which only spurred the family to find her. Two and a half days later, Julieta’s door went dark which led to the grim assumption that Julieta had died out in the forests.
Julieta herself still hadn’t realised she was pregnant, even when she return back to reality to find herself lost in the woods, she tried to return, getting more lost and further away. As the hours without food and water, Julieta tried to forage as she went to stop the pangs.
it wasn’t until after she almost drowned that Hallow and her group had access to a proper scanner in the watcher AU, which picked up on one of the heartbeats; the stress of the ordeal causing Julieta to miscarry one of the babies that she had yet to pass, and the other one still at risk. She was medically bed ridden for a few days to ensure the surviving baby wasn’t at risk when she was discharged.
Because of this, The Watcher Casita had a suit prepped in the event of an early delivery to maximise the baby’s chances, at the suggestion of Watcher!Julieta. This came to save the Baby’s life, 3 months later, when Pariah!Juliet was about 5 months along where she was assisting the group navigate a Corrupt AU to get the corrupted magic candle where she was caught by Corrupt!Luisa and suffered the traumatic loss of her leg.
Because of that, the baby had to be delivered prematurely so Pariah had better survival chances with her leg. Fortunate, the Watcher AU was more technology advanced, and with magic and with close ties with a more advanced, tech AU, they were able to forge together an artificial womb for the baby to continue to grow in until she could breath independently.
Julieta was able to stay by her side in her own recovery and named the baby girl Verana, a name meaning Faith, as she needed something to believe in and to trust in during the difficult time.

Power swap au.
Just, Alma ignores the cloud and sends Mirabel to water the crops. She doesn’t want to let go though, and so it doesn’t rain. She hears the farmers talking about her being useless even with a gift and. HELL. BREAKS. LOOSE. (Do you know what a supercell is? Imagine it but ten times worse. She totally causes a flood)
Also, the way I thought the gifts would scramble is a bit different than the one annon said;
It would only affect blood Madrigals
Alma gets the visions, so now it’s HER job to tell the villagers the bad things that will happen and SHE gets the hate for it (Or not, since she is kind of the leader of the village)
Julieta and Pepa are the gift less ones since they are overworked and have depression
Bruno can talk to animals (This one was not decided, and when that annon made their ask and mentioned “Bruno talking to the rats” the only thing I could think for the next ten seconds was “YES!”)
Isabela gets shapeshifting; (I don’t have to be perfect anymore, I can literally be ANYONE!!)
Dolores gets the healing food, since I think it was going to be her gift in the beta version of the film
Luisa gets the super hearing, as she NEEDS to feel useful by doing SOMETHING, even if it only is to deliver messages. Until she hears the whispers about her baby sister 🫤. Suffices to say, she gets MAD (and she’s the tallest in the whole family
Camilo would get the plant gift. At first he’s like “And what am I supposed to do with this?”, but then he starts pranking people with it (I gave him too much power)
Mirabel OBVIOUSLY gets the weather gift, or this would not be funny (hehehe, I like angst)
Antonio get super strength, and even though some villagers try to get him to work for them, he just points out some tasks are stupid (moving the church?), some others are completely doable without super strength (you should gather your donkeys yourself. And fix that fence!), and some are… (WHAT did you do to TILT your HOUSE???). And if a villager gets too pesky, he’ll do the task. But will “accidentally” mess up (what do you mean? OFF COURSE it was an accident 😇)
Nahhhh that’s not gonna slide 😭😭the fact that Alma is still tryna force them to use gifts…like yess!!!! Go and give us nothing!!!! At least this way the family can play off not doing as many chores because they don’t know how to properly use their gifts 💀

A prompt on how mirabel was treated differently from her family by both them and the the townsfolk, please? Not trying to villainize them but it's obvious she wasn't always treated with respect.
The majority of the town are just indifferent about her, however, there are a few cases where they just don’t like her. She’s not worth any particular attention because she really isn’t any better than the rest of the them. In comparison to the hardworking efforts of her mother and sisters, she’s just useless. The false Madrigal.
To note this is written from Mirabel’s point of view, she has a lot of self-hatred here and that effects her judgement. Also, there is a second part to this, where the issues are resolved, but it’s not so much about Mirabel, so I’ll save it for another time.
Apologies for this taking so long :)
~~~~~~
The False Madrigal
It was no mystery to which Madrigal was the least appreciated in Encanto. The younger children don’t know who she is; the adults remember the disappointment and depression when Julieta didn’t have a boy, and the disastrous gift ceremony that followed. The family, though they meant well, also couldn't be pardoned for neglecting her on occasion - even if she was so mature and responsible and intelligent.
Mirabel finds the dislike amongst her classmates the worst. They complain at her impressive grades and attendance: “That girl’s mouth must be good to get the scores she gets” and “Of course her attendance is great, it’s not like she’s got anywhere else to be” and “She thinks she’s so much better than us with her fancy clothes and Madrigal blood”. They mostly ignore her. Nobody sits or talks to her. Pupils beg the teachers for different partners.
“They say she’s going to be exiled from Encanto. She’s going to leave Colombia.”
“She’s just some stupid jinx.”
“I hear she’s being sent all the way to some convent in France.”
Words fly up and down the path to school, like butterflies circling flower beds. Dolores has probably heard more than Mirabel ever has and she left school years ago. They go all quiet when Mirabel passes, some giggle or whisper. All day, Mirabel carries herself with a straight back, pays attention and does her work, ignoring any malicious comment that comes her way.
But, she’s very aware of her social status in Encanto.
She’s not lonely, that’s just a rumour. She doesn’t mind the lack of companionship, she’s always preferred the time to herself. But it’s when the line between being alone and nonexistent start blurring that it hurts.
Señor Cortez, an old man, once a painter and still a friend of Abuela’s, has been commissioned to paint a mural of the Madrigals in the town square. A thick curtain covers the wall and everyone wonders what is hiding underneath. He works underneath the thing during the day, so Tía Pepa is tasked to bring down the temperature a little.
The children pass it everyday on her way to school. Camilo, impatient as ever, once snuck a peek - only the triplets had been painted at the time, and Tía Pepa punished him with no football for the rest of the day.
This particular day, the mathematics teacher, Señor Molina takes attendance after lunch. The school doesn’t usually, but some students have been caught not coming back from lunch recently. There hadn’t been any issues, beyond one or two pupils not being present, until he turned red.
“Which one of you have added a fake name to the register?” Señor Molina asked. “Speak up. I will not ask again.”
The class fell into a hushed silence, looking around at each other in genuine confusion.
“Well? Someone must have done it! There is no Mirabel Madrigal.”
Señor Molina has taught them for ten years now. To be fair, he’s never taken attendance until now - music has always been after lunch. But surely, he knows the class’ names? He’s taught all the Madrigal grandkids, he comes by and teaches Dolores every new instrument she can get her hands on, he taught Agustín to play piano when he moved in to town. He’s been to all the gift ceremonies, he played at the couples’ wedding.
The class remain dead silent.
Mirabel swallowed. “I am Mirabel?” The girl questioned, raising a hand from her chair in the back corner.
The man went to yell at her, but didn’t. Just gave a comment he’d speak to her after class.
When they time came, he accused her of lying. She explained in a desperately panicked way that it was no prank and that was genuinely her name. It was an odd thing to argue with a teacher about, especially one that knew her family. She had tried to tell him, but—
“I’m sorry, niña. I had no memory of a Mirabel in the Madrigal family. Your family must be very new to town. When did you arrive?”
She’d been so upset. He’d believed that it as her name, but not that she had any relation to the Madrigals. He’d jokingly played along with her briefly.
“Oh yeah, what’s your gift?”
No answer.
And then, “All the Madrigals have gifts. If you were one of them, you’d have a gift.”
Silence.
“It’s very charming that you think yourself one, they are very welcoming like that, but I’m sure your real family are just as special. You should get back to them. Maybe change your surname to avoid further confusion, sí?”
On Mirabel’s way home, she’s picking at loose threads, hands trembling and eyes misty. She didn’t do anything.
She passes by the mural, the curtain long gone. It must’ve been completed today and everyone has already seen the finished mural. Well, everyone except Camilo, who was at school too, and Isabela, who was doing who knows what, because both of them are admiring the piece when she approaches.
Isabela rolls her eyes, “If you didn’t always have your nose in a book, you wouldn’t be late out of school.”
“You look like you’re about to cry, prima!” Camilo comments. “You can go finish your book or schoolwork or whatever when we get back home.”
Mirabel looks away.
The mural is a beautiful, brightly coloured piece. With birds and flowers and butterflies and— Tío Bruno? He’s barely in the family tree in Casita. He looks scary in this picture. In sheer contrast to the elegance of Abuela; the vibrancy of Tía Pepa; the happiness and care of Mama; Dolores is smiling for once, it’s nice to see her happy; Camilo and Antonio look as charming as always - the latter will be pleased by the amount of animals; Isabela without a single flaw, like usual with her photos; Luisa hardly ever has time to pose like their sister, she’ll love it though; the little houses in the corner are…
“I’m not in it?” She asks.
Camilo raises an eyebrow. “Yeah, you are, four-eyes. You’re right there…” he points beside Luisa. He frowns. Then laughs again. “Cortez left you out? That’s hilarious!”
“Abuela was probably worried you’d ruin it.” Isabela suggests, unhelpfully.
“Maybe it was only for gifted Madrigals.”
“Can’t be,” Isabela corrects. “Antonio is on it.”
“Well, that’s not fair! Antonio will get his in two months.” He retorted. He scratched his head. “Señor Cortez just probably doesn’t know you are. Lots of people in the town don’t. I frequently have to tell the children I babysit that I have three cousins.”
“We speak every morning on the way to school,” Mirabel says.
Camilo shrugs, now bored of the conversation.
He then pounces on Isabela, who is framing the wall with fresh flowers. “There’s a gap between you and Dolores, what do you think that’s about?” He smirks as Isabela glares. “Do you think Mariano will be added in? Do you think he’ll start wearing pink? Will there be enough room for all your babies? Will he be kissing you? What if—” He’s cut off, choking on rose petals.
“If Abuela wishes it, yes.” Isabela answers. “Shouldn't you be babysitting at La Casa Ramos by now?”
“I should, but Señora Ramos and baby Adelita have the same questions as me.”
“Señora Ramos is too tired to remember her name, never mind my relationship. And Adelita is literally three months old.”
“And she’s very curious for her age. Honestly, Isabela, how are you gonna raise Mariano’s kids if you don’t know anything about them?”
“I know stuff about kids!”
“Okay, go on then!”
“I know they can be annoying with nonstop questions!”
“Sorry, that doesn’t make sense!”
“You don’t make sense!”
“Your face doesn’t make sense!”
Mirabel pressed her palm against the wall, trying to ground herself.
She was invisible. She was a freak with no name or purpose or family. With no history and no future.
“Sis?”
Mirabel jumped.
“Stop staring creepily at the mural,” Isabela says. “Abuela’s going to be mad at you for being late.” She almost smiles at the thought. “Or maybe she won’t remember you and you’ll be let off.”
The teenager sighed, following Isabela away.
She can’t decide which would be better, honestly. To be known or to be loved?
At dinner, Abuela taps her spoon against her glass, catching the family’s attention. Mirabel can barely see her, Luisa’s large frame blocking her view.
“Before we start, I have an announcement,” Abuela says, smiling. Proper smiling. The same smile she only gives Isabela. “As you all know, our dear friend, Señor Cortez finished his exceptional mural of us in town. To thank him, I have invited him and his wife for dinner tomorrow. I except all of you to make him feel welcomed. He has also asked if he may paint portraits of each of the children over the next week, to go alongside the others. I want each of you looking your best.”
Mirabel wonders if the offer extends to her.
She spent the entire meal pushing food around on her plate to distract from how little she was eating, but nobody noticed. Or if they did, they didn’t care.
“Did you see the moral?” Antonio whispers, with his mouth full at her side.
“Mural,” she corrects, quietly. Nobody hears.
“Did you see it? The moral? Mama says I looked very grown up. I think I look like Papa. I think Tío Bruno looked silly. And Camilo, he is silly.” He stops. “What do you think, Dolores?”
Mirabel trembles. Why is it getting so blurry? She’s wearing her glasses. Tears. She’s crying. Why is it so hard to breathe?
“Can you believe I was only holding one dumbbell?” Luisa asked, to no one in particular. “I get a church would’ve been too big. Not even a donkey? Or two dumbbells? That one was so small. I’m stronger than that.”
“Yeah, and your father should’ve been painted with bee stings.” Pepa added, smirking.
Agustín gasped, dramatically. “I have never been so insulted! You should’ve been painted with lightning.”
“Only if you had a broken arm.”
“Only if you had a hurricane.”
“Only if you had—”
“Stop arguing, you’re worse than the children,” Julieta interrupted. “Agustín, you aren’t even in it. Félix, help me. I thought the mural was very accurate.”
Félix nodded. “Pepi, the mural is to show the best of us, no? We never would have seen Lolita smile if it had been done the way each of us wanted.”
“He should’ve not painted me at all,” Dolores grumbled.
“I think it would be funnier if I was painted as someone else.” Camilo said, shifting into Señora Pezmuerto. “It would really confuse people.”
“Thank you, Isabela. The flowers were an excellent touch.” Abuela complimented, kissing the young woman’s cheek.
She beamed. “I know they were Abuelo’s favourite.”
Mirabel rested her elbows on the table, her head hanging between hunched shoulders. She tried to make herself breathe properly, slow and careful intakes of air, but it was futile.
Everything felt so heavy and light all at once, her heart beating a panicky rhythm. Part of her told her to get a grip, she shouldn’t do this here, she’s embarrassing herself in front of the family. The other part told her she didn’t exist and so nobody would notice. That just made her cry more.
She was suppose to be Mirabel Madrigal!
That’s who she has been since birth, for better or worse.
She had to be Mirabel Madrigal!
Who else could she be?
She is Mirabel Madrigal!
Is or was?
Hi there! Can I request a songfic of Camilo Madrigal x Female! reader whereby the reader who is depressed and isolates herself gets cheered up by Camilo, who comforts her? The song would be 'Top of The World' by Shawn Mendes, from the film 'Lyle, Lyle Crocodile'. It's okay if you're too busy.
Sorry I just tried one as a request but I'm not comfortable doing them so I won't do another Camilo x Reader going forward.
But thank you for the suggestion! And you made me discover a great song too.
