It was chaos, her body fighting an unseen creature, dark and shadowy, spreading over her blocking out any sliver of light trying to break through. The crushing in her chest morphed into invisible flaming fingertips wrapping around her throat. Thoughts and emotions and the bits in between were twisting together but slipping though the cracks in her mind at the same time. There was no one there to make it better, to stroke her hair and murmur in her ear. Soothing the chaos. No. Not this time. She was alone, and that was exactly what the creature wanted. Her shoulders sagged, exhausted and weak, fighting this creature was too much to do alone. She just wasn’t strong enough and she never had been.
