now that george floyd’s murderer is behind bars, let’s help support the people who helped with the guilty verdict as well as george’s family. the fight is hardly over.
darnella’s fund - darnella was the young woman who filmed george’s last moments.
gianna’s fund - george’s daughter who has now been left without a father.

reminder that george floyd wasn't a martyr who sacrificed his life for the betterment of white people
he didn't choose to die. he didn't sacrifice himself. he was murdered in cold blood
white people are already twisting this, thanking him for his sacrifice like he decided to be brutally murdered by a white cop for existing as a black man
like. stop thanking him for being killed just because it made you open your eyes! it was never his responsibilty to make you take a stand against police violence and racial profiling in the first place
you want to make something out of his death? acknowledge that it was senseless and never should have happened in the first place! stop glorifying this murder

this is not justice.
this is accountability.
it's good that it happened. it's a start. it's a relief, and a weight off the shoulders of many, and proof that police officers who murder can be held accountable for their actions, and that they cannot act with impunity.
it can't be where it stops.

Police defund communities in part through the protection they require by the state. From settlements and lawsuits to infrastructure and walls, police take society’s resources to terrorize communities of color and protect private property.

Let's remember that it was due to protest and unrest that we got a special prosecutor to bring a case against Chauvin after the DA said there was none because George died of "natural causes".
Let's not forget it was because of protests and unrest that the second degree murder charge was added.
Never be convinced by those who want silence and complicity that outrage will get you nowhere. Keep making noise. Keep making them uncomfortable. Keep fighting.

Before liberals start rejoicing and relaxing, realize that no part of our marches or the trial or anything else that's been going on stopped police from murdering other Black people. Certainly be relieved, but don't get complacent and don't get excited because there will be more instances of police brutality as long as police still exist.
