Lucky Dog Rescue
After opening up a dog sanctuary and receiving your first shipment of dogs, you're surprised to receive a werewolf- er, well a man stuck in his werewolf form. You're even more surprised when a handsome stranger strolls into Lucky Dog Rescue, claiming to be the wolf you took care of.

Words: 3.8K
For as long as you can remember, you've always had a connection with animals. You'd begged for a puppy growing up, but given what your family was, it wasn't feasible. So, when you were old enough to fly the coop, after many conditions set in place by your family, you decided to open up Lucky Dog Rescue- a sanctuary for dogs who were set to be euthanized because other shelters had run out of space or because they'd been too long on the adoption list.
Just on the outskirts of Beacon Hills, your family had found and purchased some land for you. There was already a house on the property and it wasn't too hard for your family to hire a construction company to build you your very own animal shelter on the back half of the land. It took a year to get the shelter up to code and running, and now here you are waiting for the first shipment of dogs- only ten of them as of now until you could figure out a routine and eventually hire some help.
From sitting perched on your porch swing, you spot the large truck turning down your driveway. Eager to greet your new rescues, you stand and start making your way down the steps to direct the driver where it is he's supposed to unload the dogs.
Then hopping in a golf cart, you drive towards the shelter yourself.
The truck driver is waiting by the back of his truck, clipboard in hand by the time you pull up next to him. He reads something off his paperwork before saying your name as if questioning your identity. "Yep. That's me."
"Cool." As he starts to unlock the door, the dogs inside start barking and whining. "So is this like a rehabilitation for dogs or something?" The truck driver asks.
"It's more of a temporary home. These dogs are some that were set to be euthanized either because the shelters ran out of room or they'd been waiting too long to be adopted out."
"Shit. Really?" As he climbs into the truck, you climb in behind him to check the dogs in their crates. "There's a Cane Corso in here. He's huge for a puppy though. I'd figured he'd have been adopted out as soon as possible."
"Yeah, Cane Corso's are magnificent pets and guard dogs, but most people can't deal with their size or their food consumption. But I have a good feeling about this one," you muse, squatting so you can poke your fingers through the cage. "I just gotta make sure all these boys and girls are healthy and adoptable before putting their pictures on the web in hopes of finding them a forever home."
As you stand back up, you do a quick head count and frown. When the driver catches you doing so, he chuckles nervously. "Oh, uh, when I picked up the dogs there was an extra." He walks over to the very front of the truck where there's what appears to be a big black dog lying quietly in his crate. "It's assumed he's a wolfdog and he was set to be put down, but he seemed too intelligent to do so. The shelter he came from was hoping you could put him up here."
Making your way to the crate, you crouch and look at the wolfdog. But something about him gives you pause, even more so when he lifts his head and starts to scent the air. Then all of a sudden he starts to growl while staring directly at you and it clicks. "Easy, boy," you coo.
"Huh. That's the most noise I've heard him make," the driver says.
"Yeah, well he probably just picked up a scent on me that he doesn't like," you say. "Which is silly because I swear that this is a safe place," you say, making sure the werewolf understands. The werewolf slowly calms and you smile, reaching in to rub a finger along the top of one of his paws.
"Right," the driver says. "Well everyone else is here. "You have three French Bulldogs, two Australian Cattle dogs, one Australian Shepherd, one Siberian Husky, the Cane Corso, one Border Collie, and one Corgi."
"Nice. Well let's start leashing them and escorting them into the shelter," you say. "Each enclosure has a door that leads them outside to their own enclosed space, so don't worry about them not using the bathroom. They can go as soon as you close the door behind them."
"Got it. I'll get these babies first." You watch as the driver starts leashing the French Bulldogs, baby talking at them as he takes them out of their crates.
As soon as the driver disappears, you look back at the werewolf. "Listen, I know what you are. I don't want to leash you, but I can't have you running off before we can figure out what to do with you." The werewolf tilts his head, snuffling, and you gesture to yourself. "Only human in a family full of werewolves. I know a werewolf when I see one, so you're safe here. My family lives an hour away, so you don't have to worry about encroaching on any pack territory. It's just me. Trust me?" The werewolf huffs and you grin. "Excellent. I'm going to open the door now, so please don't run off. You'll have to go in an enclosure, but as soon as the driver leaves you can join me at the house."
You open his crate and he steps out, stretching. He stays by your side and you grin before grabbing a leash and leashing the Australian Shepherd.
Side by side, the truck driver helps you get the dogs situated in their own enclosures. Then after thanking him and sending him off, the werewolf watches as you give the other dogs their own bowls of food and water.
"Come on," you gesture for him to follow you. "Let's head to my house and try to figure out a plan for you. I doubt you want to sleep on a cushion on the floor with your fellow canines."
The werewolf follows you and trots side by side the golf cart as you take off.
Walking up the porch, you kick off your boots before pointing at the doormat. "Wipe your paws, please."
You hold the door open for him while he does so and then he trots into your house without any hesitance. You follow him in, heading towards the kitchen and grab yourself something to drink. Then turning around, you find the werewolf staring right at you. You startle in surprise and then laugh at your own jumpiness.
"Right," you drag out the word. "So, uh, can you shift back or…?" The werewolf barks and shakes his head. You sigh. "Of course you can't." Frowning, you glance all around and try to figure out how you're going to communicate with him. Then an idea comes to you. "I got it! Stay here."
Rushing from the room, you head to one of your storage closets and pull out bin after bin to find what you're looking for. Soon enough, you find several buttons that can be programmed to say different things. Then after finding the USB wire, you take the buttons back with you to the living room where your laptop is so you can program words so the werewolf can answer you.
"So I thought I could use these buttons to train some of the dogs, but I guess I'll be using them on you," you say as you plug the red button in. "Red will be no, green will be yes, and white will be I don't know. Sound good?"
The werewolf sits and you get to work programming three of the buttons. Once done, you set out each button in front of him.
"Okay, so, just to make sure… can you change back?"
The wolf gives you a deadpan stare before raising a paw and stepping on the red button. "No."
"Okay. Do you have a pack?"
"Yes."
"Oh. Do you want me to contact-"
"No."
"What? Why not?" You frown. "Are you running away from them?"
"No."
You sigh. "This would be so much easier if you could actually talk." Then taking a moment to think, you ask, "So if you can't change back, was this done to you on purpose?"
"Yes."
"Wow. Okay." You stare at the wolf, not knowing what to do. "I… I'm at a loss here, man. This was done to you on purpose, but you don't want me to contact your pack. Do you want me to contact mine and-"
"No."
"Do you think this will wear off?"
"I don't know."
You run a hand over your face, rubbing the space between your brows. "I'm probably out of my damn mind, but as someone who knows about pack dynamics, I feel like I can trust you. Can I trust you?"
"Yes."
"Well I mean anyone would say that, but oh well. You seem pretty sane. If you were a crazed omega, I think you would've been thrashing in that crate of yours. Or tried to attack me by now." The wolf sits and tilts his head at you. "Ugh. I might regret this, but screw it. Since you're stuck in this form, I don't want you out there in the elements. I have a spare bedroom you can use, but the second you're back to human status, you're replacing the mattress and sheets."
The wolf huffs and steps forward, stepping on the green button. "Yes."
"Good. And just so you know, I'm giving you a month. If you haven't changed back by then, we're calling your pack." The wolf's ears twitch and you grin, pushing yourself to stand. "Alright, so I'm hungry. What do you think about eating and just settling in? I'll program more buttons tomorrow, but for now I'll keep it to yes or no questions."
The wolf nods, licking his chomps.
As you start heading towards the kitchen, you hesitate. "Oh, wait! I don't even know your name. Or should I just call you Wolfie for now?"
The wolf barks, brushing past you and you laugh as he goes.
Day to day with a strange werewolf is bound to be interesting.
Tumblr media
Over the course of the month with Wolfie, you find that you quite like his company even though the only way he can speak with you is through the buttons or tiles of the alphabet that he steps on to spell out something. Of course, getting used to his presence took a few days- days that left you embarrassed beyond belief when you accidentally flashed him your underwear after waking up and walking downstairs in nothing but a shirt and underwear to brew your coffee.
Wolfie, who eventually spelled out that his name was Derek, took to roaming your property while you worked with the dogs. He avoided the veterinarian when she stopped by to give everyone a check-up, and then avoided the two teenage boys who the veterinarian sent your way to clean the kennels since they needed volunteer hours for their college applications.
During the day you took care of your animals with the help of two teenage boys, taking pictures to add to your website in hopes of adopting the little furballs out. You even made flyers which the boys took into town, taping them around town and leaving them at places of establishment.
And then at night, you made dinner for you and Derek who quickly made himself comfortable on the sectional in your living room after promising to replace anything he ruined.
When the month officially ends, Derek is stubborn about keeping mum about his pack. And every time you mention it, Derek trots over to the yellow button to press it. Stay. He won't tell you anything about his pack, so you don't know where to start looking for them and you really don't want to inform your family.
But then halfway into the second month, two men that appear in their early twenties walk into Lucky Dog Rescue and you know Derek must know them by the way he perks up from his position by the front desk.
The paler individual of the two spots Derek, his eyes widening as he makes a beeline for him which forces his brown skinned companion to quickly follow. You smile at them, especially when one of them kneels in front of Derek to meet his gaze and Derek sniffs before turning his head.
"Hi," you greet them, walking over. "Can I help you guys?"
The brown skinned young man suddenly looks sheepish as he smiles at you. "Uh, yeah. Sorry about him," he says. "I'm Scott. My friend here is Stiles. I, uh, I saw a flier for this place at the vet clinic I work for and thought what you were doing was pretty awesome."
"Yeah." Your demeanor softens a little. "I've always loved animals so it was a no brainer about what I wanted to do when I had the means to do it."
"That's awesome." His smile is quite contagious, especially when he glances at Stiles and you see that Stiles is dead set on gaining Derek's attention. Even when Derek doesn't want to give it and keeps averting his attention. "Anyway, I looked up your website and saw some of the canines you had available. We saw the, uh, the wolfdog and thought we might inquire into whether or not he was up for adoption."
"Sorry, guys, but he is not. I'm actually trying to track down his family."
"What?!" Stiles yelps. Scott's eyes widen as he glances between you and his friend, and you shrug. "But- but he's ours!"
You arch an eyebrow at him. "Is that so?"
"Yes!"
"Then why does our furry little friend seem to want nothing to do with you?"
Stiles gapes as he glances back at Derek, gently tweaking one of his ears. "Come on, sourwolf, and let the nice lady know we're family."
Derek yawns in Stiles' face before getting up and trotting over to his mat of buttons. Then staring directly at Stiles, Derek steps on the red one. "No." Now both Stiles and Scott are gaping, and you're left trying to stifle your laughter.
"Derek!" Stiles snaps and you mentally perk up. So they know his name, huh. Maybe they are telling the truth. "This isn't funny. We need to get you home. We've been searching everywhere for you."
The turquoise button is pressed next. "Bitch."
You slap a hand too little too late over your mouth after a laugh has escaped and you shrug when Scott and Stiles stare at you. "He's, uh, he's really intelligent and I've been using the buttons to communicate with him," you tell him. "The bitch button was for shits and giggles. He's never used it until now though."
Stiles' eyes narrow while glancing back at Derek. "I hope she gave you a flea bath," he hisses.
You start to giggle and walk around the counter, giving up the act. "Alright, Derek, game's over. I know you know them because if not, you would have already pressed the purple button until I locked myself back up at the house."
"Purple button?" Scott asks. "What's the purple say?"
Derek refuses to press it, so Stiles does. "Danger."
"He's only pressed it twice since he's been here, but fortunately they were false alarms." Scott and Stiles nod, and you grin. "So which one of you is the werewolf?"
They both freeze. "You know?" Stiles asks.
"Yep. Perks of growing up as the only human in a pack," you tell them. "I could tell Derek wasn't a wolfdog like I was told, so when he wasn't thrashing in his crate or trying to attack me when he was let out, I took a chance on him. However, as a human, I can't tell who's who." Stiles continues to gape and Scott nervously shifts from foot to foot. Then while trying not to appear intimidating, Scott lets his eyes flash red. You smile at him before bowing your head slightly in respect for him. "Welcome, alpha."
"Hi. You don't know how much we appreciate you looking after Derek. It's been hell trying to track him down."
"Well I'm glad you found my flier and website. He says he's stuck, but he wanted to wait the curse out in hopes of transforming back. I gave him a month, but he's been a stubborn little shit and refused to tell me anything about his pack since then."
"Yep. Sounds like Derek," Stiles says, standing up while glaring at him. "So, uh, since he technically can't be adopted out, can we just take him?"
"Yeah! Sorry," you chuckle. And then when you glance back down at Derek, you're hit with a wave of emotion that makes your eyes sting. Laughing at yourself, you squat down and raise a hand to rub at the side of his neck. "So this is goodbye, huh? I didn't actually think it would suck this bad." Derek steps towards you, headbutting you. You smile softly. "Maybe I should have made you stay out here instead of inside my home. I think I got attached."
Derek steps back, but before he leaves he steps over to the buttons one last time. While glancing at you, he steps on the pink. "Friend."
You slowly smile and give him a nod. "Always."
Tumblr media
The days drag on after Derek's departure, so you throw yourself into work.
Surprisingly, you manage to adopt out five dogs- the husky, the French Bulldogs, and the Corgi. Those five are quickly replaced and then word must have traveled about Lucky Dog Rescue because you start receiving visitor after visitor, and dog after dog find their forever home.
When you're able to start hiring employees, the number of dogs in the shelter steadily rises. The shelter can only hold up to fifty dogs, yet the most dogs you've had at one time is twenty-eight.
Then when work starts to slow and you settle into an easy routine, your days with Derek haunt you. Especially at night when you grew accustomed to having him join you on the sofa or trotting around your house, and now it's complete silence. Sometimes you missed him so much that you thought about asking around for an alpha Scott to see if they ever returned Derek to his human self, but then you thought better of it. He'd reach out if and when he wanted to.
So instead, you adopted.
You adopt a Basset Hound that had been surrendered to your shelter because the owners were moving and couldn't take Beau with them, and he won your heart over almost immediately.
Beau liked to go on walks every now and then, but he most enjoyed curling up on the couch with you or curling up on his bed under the front desk down at the shelter while you were working.
One day, while it's slow and your employees are taking care of the dogs in the back, you sit down on the floor in front of the front counter to play fetch with Beau. He's enjoying chasing a tennis ball and then playing keep away with it. You don't notice when the front door jingles to signify a possible client, but you do notice when Beau whines and runs behind the counter.
Gaping at your dog, you shake your head in disbelief at him. "Some guard dog you are, punk." There's a deep chuckle and you glance up at the stranger- the very handsome stranger, actually- and quickly climb to your feet. "Hi. Sorry about that. Welcome to Lucky Dog Rescue. What can I do for you?"
The dark haired man shrugs, sliding his hands into the front pockets of his jeans. "I believe I owe you a new mattress. And my thanks."
"Excuse me?"
"My name is Derek Hale. It's nice to finally speak with you." You gape at the man standing before you before you snap out of your stupor and rush forward. But before you can touch him, you freeze.
"Uhhh… is it weird that I want to hug you right about now?"
"Not at all." He pulls his hands from his pockets, spreading his arms, and you readily latch on to him. He chuckles as you laugh in glee. "So I see the shelter is doing good."
"It is! Yeah."
As you pull back from the embrace, he asks, "Is Beau yours or…?"
"Mhm. Mine," you tell him. You walk around the counter to drag Beau back out, intent on making him greet Derek so he knows he's not a threat. "Kind of got used to having a companion in my house that I learned pretty fast it sucks living alone." Derek squats and holds his hand out, smiling as you coo at Beau and assure him that the big cuddly werewolf doesn't mean either of you any harm. "So did you guys get everything squared away? Did you find who cursed you in your wolf form?"
"We did. Scott doesn't like to use violence, so it took us a while to broker a treaty with some witches that were looking to settle in Beacon Hills."
You wince. "Witches are sneaky. I hope you worded the treaty very carefully."
"We knew exactly what they were after. It's what everyone's after and why Beacon Hills is a beacon for the supernatural," he says. "The treaty wasn't one necessarily for peace. It was a treaty stating that if they stepped foot back in our territory, all niceties go out the window and the pack is allowed to attack."
"Good."
Derek nods. "And on another note, I actually came in to adopt."
You perk up. "Really?!"
"Yeah. I've been checking your website and I saw the Corso was still here."
"Yes." You sigh sadly. "Everyone likes to look at him and get his hopes up. He's just too big for anyone to care for around here."
"Well then I guess it's a good thing I have the means to care for him."
You slowly grin. "Does this mean I get picture updates of him?"
"I will bring him by whenever you want. Or you can drop by my place and even bring Beau along. We can have a… playdate of sorts for the dogs."
"A playdate for the dogs, huh?"
Derek smiles. "And maybe the owners if Beau's mom is up to it."
"Oh. I'm pretty sure Beau's mom is up for it." You laugh. "But before we can go on those playdates, we need to get you your pup."
"Dante. His name's going to be Dante."
"Nice." You then gesture for him to follow you to the back. "Let's go get Beau's new friend Dante then."

Sheriff: Since you’re under 18 there will be some rules. Rule number one, no activities that require condoms until you’re legal
Stiles: Well, dad, since Derek is a werewolf, and can’t catch or transmit diseases, condoms aren’t ever going to be required….
Sheriff: No activities which humans would require a condom for! Don’t make me arrest him, son.
Stiles: Damn, should have kept that loophole to myself.

New Faces in New Places
Pairing: Derek Hale x Reader
Word Count: 3.3k
Warnings: none really, just run of the mill teen wolf dangers lol
Genre: fluff I'd say
Summary: After a few signs from your familiar you're moving to a new town and you find out very quickly that it is anything but ordinary
Tumblr media
***
You cross-reference the address your mom gave you with the building you're currently parked in front of. It looks like the right place but man, moving to a new town is always a hassle.
"We finally made it Ellie. You almost burned down my old apartment to get me here but- we made it. You'll have to wait here though, okay? I know mom trusts this guy but I'm not too eager to bring you into a vet's office for no reason." You say to your bird before you get out of the car. You make sure to leave the windows down because heavens know how long you'll be here. You walk into the office, startled slightly by the sound of the bell over the door. A Black man walks out of the back room wearing a lab coat over his maroon colored button-down. He's bald and has neatly trimmed facial hair.
"Hello. How can I help you?" He asks.
"Hi, Dr. Alan Deaton, I'm guessing?"
"Excuse me, do I know you?"
"Not me. But you do know my mother."
"And who is your mother?" He asks, an eyebrow quirking up at you. You wave a hand over your wrist, exposing your family crest marked into your skin, and show it to him.
"My goodness." He gasps stepping back. He swings open the door by the counter and gestures for you to follow him through the doorway he originally came through. "It's like seeing a ghost. I never thought I'd be seeing that crest again after your mother and I went our separate ways. Wait is she-"
"She's fine. Living her best life in Europe." You say, eyes shifting around the room to take it in as you lean against the metal exam table.
"That's good. What brings you here then?"
"Actually, my familiar. Kind of. She knocked over a candle that burned this spot on a map and when I did some digging, spoke to my mom and she told me it had to be here. Also that I'd find you at this place."
"I wasn't aware your mother still knew where I was but honestly leave it to her to keep track of her associates." He chuckles.
"Yeah, she told me if I was coming to Beacon Hills I had to find you first. So what do I need to know about your little town?" You ask.
"Oh well, we definitely get a lot of strange activity here. Beacon Hills has a nematon."
"Beacon Hills has a nematon?" That gets your attention. You had no idea.
"It was cut down many years ago so it's been dormant for quite some time until recently when a group of teenagers accidentally reactivated it."
"A group of teenagers reactivated a nematon?! What the hell kind of teenagers are running around here?" You blink at him.
"They weren't trying to. They were only trying to track down their parents and stop some human sacrifices."
"And they somehow reactivated a nematon? And they did that accidentally on their own?"
"I didn't know it would reactivate a chopped down tree but we also didn't have many other options at the time."
"So I take it you're quite involved with this group of teenagers?" You ask.
"Their ringleader works for me." He shrugs.
"Their ringleader works for you? So you're the adult to our resident Scooby gang." You laugh.
"What?"
"A Scooby gang is the term I use for a group of teenagers who have a knack for getting into shenanigans they have no business getting into." You shrug.
"Well, you know. Druids are advisors by nature."
"Sure- to supernaturals usually. Is this group of kids supernaturals?"
"Not all of them."
"Not all of them?! Are there a lot of supernatural kids around here?"
"Relatively?"
"What does that mean-?" You shake your head.
"Deaton! We need your help! It's Isaac- something's wrong he's not healing!" The frantic yelling along with loud movement from the front of the office turns your attention from Deaton to the doorway, your question forgotten as a man with dark hair comes barrelling in with a younger boy behind him carrying another. They all halt at the door when they see you standing there and you're smart enough to pivot so you're standing next to Deaton, out of the way assuming they intend to lay the half-conscious one on the table.
"Well don't just stand there bring him here. What happened?" Deaton asks. The man steps to the side boy carrying the other can lay him on the table.
"Wolfsbane." You say quietly, immediately picking up its signature with a magical scan of the boy.
"What?" Deaton's gaze snaps to you.
"It's Wolfsbane, we have to get it out of his system if you want him to heal himself. Do you know what kind? How it got in his system?"
"Does that matter?" The man asks staring at you from across the exam table.
"Kind of. All of that stuff affects potency and subsequently the best solution to-"
"Y/n." Deaton says gently.
"He's a bit old for your Scooby gang but I take it he's part of it?"
"I should've prefaced. They aren't all teenagers."
"Noted. But he is. And he's dying." Your gaze shoots down to the kid on the table again. "How do you want to go about this?" You ask crossing your arms.
"Can you tell me if it's yellow wolfsbane?" He asks.
"It's not." You say after a moment of your eyes flitting across the gash in his side.
"Good. So we can burn it out of him."
"You're going to induce a fever?" You ask and Deaton shakes his head.
"He's bleeding too much too fast. You'll have to burn it out."
"Me?" You blink at him.
"You know how to right?"
"Of course I do." You say.
"Well I don't keep a torch in the office so yes you'll have to do it." Deaton nods. You hardly notice the other two watching your conversation like it's a tennis match, both sets of eyes darting back and forth between you as you talk quickly with Deaton.
"Very well." You sigh rotating your neck and cracking your knuckles in preparation. You grasp the young boy's hand.
"What is she doing?" The man asks, almost growling as he shoots a glare.
"Saving Isaac's life. Back down Derek. You came here for help." Deaton says.
"Hi, Isaac. My name's y/n. I'm gonna do my best to make it quick but this is gonna be uncomfortable for a little while so- feel free to scream or break my hand." You say gently to the boy on the table, Isaac you presume, before closing your eyes. When they open again your irises are literal flames that shock the two people watching you carefully as their friend's life is in your hands. Isaac groans, his back arching off the table and his fingers squeezing around your hand with a strength that would probably crush it if he wasn't currently bleeding out on the table. It takes longer than you expect, seeking out and burning the wolfsbane coursing through his blood, but after a few minutes his blood starts to boil and you know there's no more of the deadly plant in his system. You close out your spell and wait for his grip to loosen before releasing his hand.
"I think you should wrap that gash. He's clear now but- there's no way of knowing when his healing will kick in." You tell Deaton. Deaton nods and grabs a gauze pad and medical tape.
"He'll be okay?" The other teenager looks at you and Deaton.
"Yeah he'll be fine." Deaton nods.
"What are you?" The teenager looks at you curiously.
"Who are you?" The man asks, his gaze is still skeptical but much less hostile, there's something in his eyes that you can't quite identify. Akin to awe but not quite.
"Scott, Derek, this is y/n. She's new in town. Y/n, this is Scott McCall and Derek Hale."
"Members of your Scooby gang." You say.
"Why do you keep saying that?" Derek asks.
"Before you walked in here Deaton was telling me about a particularly atypical group of teenagers that had a knack for getting into shenanigans."
"I'm not a teenager." Derek says.
"You haven't already met Stiles have you?" Scott asks. You turn to Deaton with a confused look on your face.
"Scott's best friend. Shenanigan might as well be his middle name. He's quite the erratic kid." Deaton explains.
"Ah- well, no. You, four are my intro to Beacon Hills." You say. Isaac groans as his eyes finally start to open. His half-lidded gaze turns to you and his brows furrow as he tries to identify the stranger in the room.
"You saved me." He mutters. "Are you an angel?" He asks suspiciously making you giggle at the question.
"No sweetie. In fact, some people would call me the opposite."
"Y/n don't freak him out." Deaton chuckles.
"No angel, just a witch. But welcome back. Whoever did this knicked you real good." You tell him with a soft smile and gentle squeeze of his arm.
"Well- thank you." Isaac says.
"A witch?" Scott blinks at you.
"Yep. I don't understand how this kid got wolfsbane poisoning. Are there hunters in Beacon Hills?" You frown at Deaton.
"Sometimes." Deaton says.
"One of them's an ally now though. He helps us a lot." Scott says.
"Hunters and werewolves working together. This is one interesting little town." You muse.
"You'll get used to it pretty quick." Deaton chuckles.
"Oh I'm sure. I'd hang around but Ellie will start to get antsy if she doesn't get out of her carrier soon so I have to find my house. I'll be in touch Deaton. I have a feeling this conversation is far from over." You say.
"You can call me when you get settled if you have any immediate questions. Or swing by later." Deaton says writing his number on the back of a card.
"You rest up Isaac at least a few hours before you do anything strenuous. And watch that gash, if it doesn't start healing within the hour come back to Deaton. And I assume you two will look after him. Nice to meet you all." You say to the trio of wolves before taking the card from Deaton and leaving the office. You don't notice the way Derek's eyes follow you but Deaton does, and he has to make a conscious effort to stifle his smile.
A week later and you're mostly settled into your new home. Ellie is also pretty well acquainted with her new space, which is great because she can be quite particular.
"Something interesting out there Ellie?" You ask when your bird perches by the window, staring outside as intently as a bird can. Her wings flutter fiercely for a moment and she attempts to pry open the window with her beak. You quickly stand from your couch and whistle at her, tapping your finger to guide her over.
"I take it we have to be somewhere? Now when I take you out there wait for me to get on my bike before you start rushing off to whatever danger you're chasing." You warn her as you put on your shoes. She coos at you with her head tilted slightly and you roll your eyes before leaving your apartment. Outside you barely manage to get the bike running before Ellie flies off down a street.
"Dammit Ellie." You huff, speeding after her on your bike, looking up every so often to check her flight path. She eventually perches on a perches on a light by a warehouse and you take off your helmet ready to curse her for being so frantic but the sound of voices inside grabs your attention.
"I told you not to rush off you silly bird." You hiss at her when she flies down to sit on your shoulder as you approach the door curiously. You can see two people standing to the side but ready to jump in along with three, no four, people circling each other and you can hear growling, which is cleared up when one of the faces is revealed to be Scott from Deaton's office. You've had a couple more conversations with Deaton since your first one and have since learned that Scott is the ringleader he'd mentioned that first day and that he's got a whole bunch of supernatural friends. You whistle loudly enough to get everyone's attention and six pairs of eyes snap to you. You recognize Isaac in the bunch too. The two other guys they were growling at don't match any of the descriptions Deaton's given you so, process of elimination tells you the other two people looking at you must be Stiles and Lydia.
"Whatever you think you saw, you didn't we were just teens doing- teen goof things." Stiles, you're pretty sure, frantically says.
"You know Stiles I'd have expected a better excuse from you." You say. "That is Stiles right?" You ask Scott. He and Isaac nod which causes Stiles to look frantically between the three of you.
"How do you know my name?! And you two know her? Why don't I know her? Who are you?" Stiles asks.
"I'm gonna ask that you hold all questions briefly." You tell Stiles before turning your attention to the two unidentified individuals who still look to be on guard. "You two, I'm guessing, do not belong here." You address them only to be met with a growl that you immediately counter with a command. "Ciúin." You say sharply and their aggression dwindles. "I suggest you both return to where you belong of your own free will while you can. This territory is not up for grabs." You say sternly, flashing your magic in warning. The boys glare at you as if they are planning to challenge your demand but neither seems willing to take the risk when they meet your warning gaze. After a stretch of silence, they let out another growl at Scott and Isaac before leaving.
"We totally could've taken them." Isaac huffs.
"What did you do?" Scott asks.
"Nothing really just- a scare tactic I learned some years ago." You shrug.
"Well thank you." He nods.
"Can I ask my questions now?" Stiles asks.
"Stiles, Lydia, this is y/n. She's new to Beacon Hills." Scott says to his friends.
"So how do you already know her?" Stiles asks.
"She knows Deaton. And, she saved Isaac's life." Scott says.
"Yeah." Isaac nods. "Hi again." He says to you with a shy smile.
"Hi, Isaac. You look much better than the last time I saw you." You return his smile with one of your own when he straightens up at your attention.
"So do you! I- I mean, now that I'm not like half-conscious or whatever." He says awkwardly shifting his gaze from you.
"Hey, how did you even know we'd be here?" Scott asks you.
"Ellie." You say lifting your shoulder slightly to show off the bird still perched there contently. "She flew right to you." You add, handing her a treat you conjured.
"That's a pigeon." Stiles says.
"She's my familiar." You correct him.
"You have a familiar?" Lydia asks.
"Correct." You nod.
"What does that mean? Is she not human?" Stiles asks Lydia.
"I'm a witch. Think druid but cooler." You wink at him. "Don't tell Deaton I said that." You add in a stage whisper that makes the others laugh.
"So is that how you knew my name?" Stiles asks.
"No. Deaton's just been giving me the 411 on everyone I need to know about so I made a guess based on the names and descriptions I have." You say.
"Scott we've gotta have a talk man. When you meet people who might be of significance like witches you're supposed to tell me!" Stiles says.
"I figured you'd meet her yourself soon enough." Scott shrugs.
"Before this continues- because I'm sure it will. What were those guys doing here anyway?" You ask interrupting the couple's quarrel that's about to start.
"They were- sending a message." Isaac says.
"A message? To whom?" You frown.
"Scott. Looks like word's gotten around that he's an alpha."
"It's a good thing you showed up when you did because I had a really bad feeling about them fighting." Lydia mutters.
"I guess Ellie's taken a liking to you all. She's the one who sensed there was trouble."
"Thank you Ellie." Scott says nodding at your bird.
"You all should get out of here and head home before any more trouble comes looking for you." You say.
"Will you be alright getting home?" Isaac asks you.
"I should be asking you all that." You chuckle.
"Stiles will drive us." Scott tells you.
"So?" Isaac prompts.
"I appreciate the concern hon but I am an adult, with enough magical power to level a city. I'll be fine on my bike." You laugh. "Now you guys get going." Everyone starts to move towards the door except Stiles, who starts to object when he sees his friends leaving.
"Hang on now just because you stopped a fight doesn't mean you can- woah woah hang on!" Stiles loses his train of thought as Scott drags him towards the warehouse entrance and you chuckle.
"Come on man don't be an ass." Scott mutters to his friend.
"I just want you to know I have more questions for you that I will be asking at a later date!" Stiles calls to you even as he's being removed.
"Deaton has my address! Have him give it to you and you can come by and ask as many questions as you want!" You shout after him.
"I will do exactly that!" He points just before the group exits and you laugh to yourself in the empty warehouse.
"You brought me across the country to protect this group of teenagers?" You ask Ellie. "I hope you know we'll have no more peace." You scoff at her before the two of you leave the warehouse yourselves.
A few hours later a knock on your door pulls you away from the movie you're watching. You place your mug of hot chocolate on the table before walking over to your front door and checking the spyhole to find Derek on your porch.
"Derek?! What are you doing here?" You ask with a frown. You haven't seen him since you met last week and quite frankly you weren't sure you would. He seemed rather apprehensive around you all in all.
"I- heard you helped the kids out of a jam earlier. I wanted to thank you." He says.
"Oh- no need. They probably could've sorted it out themselves honestly but Ellie really felt we had to step in."
"Ellie?"
"My bird, familiar."
"Familiar- that's right, you're a witch."
"I am indeed." You chuckle. "You- said you came here to thank me? I don't want you to feel like you have to do-"
"Oh I don't! Didn't. I'm not here out of obligation I wanted to come. It's not every day someone as pretty as you moves to Beacon Hills."
"Are you flirting with me Derek Hale?" You ask, surprised at his direct line.
"Depends on if it's working." He says.
"Are you here to ask me on a date or not Derek?" You ask. There's a moment of silence before he replies.
"Will you go on a date with me?" He asks.
"I would love to." You smile at him.
"I've been trying to work up the courage to ask you that all week." Derek breathes out.
"How cute. Do you have a phone?"
"Of course I do."
"Do you have it with you?" He hands you the device eagerly and you input your number for him. "You can call me when you've figured out the details." You say handing it back to him. "Okay?" You prompt when all he does is give you a goofy smile.
"Okay." He says still giving you a pleased look that makes you want to laugh at how cute he is. You jolt suddenly when your own phone rings on your coffee table.
"Oh shoot- one second." You say rushing to grab it. Unknown number. "Hello?" You answer walking back over to your front door where Derek has his phone pressed to his ear, looking at you cheekily as he speaks and his voice comes through your device.
"I'll pick you up at 7:30 on Friday?" He asks and you laugh before you give him an answer.
"Didn't realize you already had a plan."
"Oh, I've been planning all week. If you said yes I wanted to be ready."
"Then I will see you Friday. For now, you should go home, looks like it's going to rain." You say noticing the clouds obscuring the usually starry night sky. Derek looks up as if he didn't even realize.
"Right. I'll see you Friday." He says with one last smile before he takes off. You smile to yourself as you return to your movie and hot chocolate. Friday just can't come soon enough. Maybe moving to Beacon Hills was a more perfect idea than you gave Ellie credit for.

Tumblr media
The room of the quint motel room was quiet, the only sounds filling the air were the combined breathing of you and Derek as you stared at the paint cracks in the ceiling. His finger was brushing up and down your arm from where his hand crawled up from beneath you, your hand drawing the faintest shapes on his bare chest as you tried to swallow a smile, the content that filled your body making your nerves vibrate with happiness.
It was Eli's idea to send the two of you away for a little romantic getaway once summer break rolled around, he was left in the loving and teenager-friendly hands of Melissa while the two of you booked into a motel upstate, closer to the forest, just like you preferred it. Your relationship had been developing far quicker than either of you expected and though you were happy with the little instant family you'd found, it was definitely good to have some alone time again, even just for a little while.
"Do you think Melissa is doing okay?" you pondered out loud, having spent a few too many minutes worrying about Eli being too much for her to handle, she might have survived a Scott, but surviving an Eli was a different story. "Like do you think we should call to check in?"
"I think she's fine," he breathed, the smile on his lips was a familiar one, one he couldn't control as easily as the others, it was because this family thing came so easily to you that it made his heart soar every time. "We can call him tomorrow if you want," he knew you would want to, knew that as new as being in Eli's life was to you, it was a role you filled perfectly.
"Sorry," you were shy in responding to that, shifting to lean onto his chest more, taking the sheet with you to create a layer between your bodies, cheeks warming and making you feel slightly silly as he raised a brow at you. "I just feel a little bad stealing his dad from him for so long," he cupped your cheek, always eager to have a hand on you in some way, basking in the look of bliss that you couldn't hide even if you tried.
"I'm sure he doesn't mind," he noted, thumb brushing a fallen lash from your cheekbone, humming when you leaned into the touch, a little hint of pride circling his stomach that you reacted to him so naturally. "As I know him, I don't think sending us away was just for our benefit alone," fair enough, you thought, he was a teenager after all. "Now why don't we stop worrying about things back home and enjoy our time together instead," his suggestion was paired with a soft smirk, far too little of a gesture to make your spine tingle as it did. "You tired yet?" you shook your head, but he could tell it wasn't completely true, your heartbeat gave you away.
"Maybe a little," your admission was followed by a small yawn, his eyes softening as you brought a hand up to cover it, never failing to look absolutely adorable doing the most mundane little things. "I don't want to go to sleep yet."
"That's risky," he teased, squeezing your waist gently, forcing you closer, practically moving you right on top of you as you rested your elbows on his chest to prop you up. "If you don't get enough sleep we risk having a grumpy girl in the morning."
"I think we should risk it," you replied quickly, stealing a quick kiss and smiling instantly when he smiled against your lips, not surprised when he stole a few more in return, pleased when you groaned lightly at him pulling away, head pushing back into the pillow to see you.
"You take many risks then, sweetheart?" he had a feeling that he knew what the answer would be, but he was eager to hear you say it even if he knew. You shook your head, raising a hand to his head, dragging your finger through his hair slowly, and thoughtfully, humming to yourself as you took him in.
"None," you admitted and you wanted to kiss him again he looked so sweet, so concentrated, taking in every word or lack thereof as he waited ever patiently for you to finish. "My biggest risk was saying yes when you asked me out," you explained with a smile, just the thought of everything the two of you'd faced since then was enough to make your heart skip around in your chest. "Dating an older guy with a kid and a reputation?" you shook your head in faux seriousness. "Risky business."
"You think it paid off?" his arms circling your body were answer enough, the sheet slipping away in the process leaving you chest to chest and earning yet another flash of heat in your cheeks.
"I'm not sure yet," you bit your lip to hide the smirk that begged to tilt into your face, managing the perfect look of innocence as you locked eyes with him.
"Oh?" he caught onto what you were doing right away, a smirk of his own on his lips as he flipped the two of you over, almost breaking when your giggles filled the room, hands grasping his shoulders as your eyes softened even more, if possible. "Guess I need to show you what I'm good for?"
"Again?"
"Well, trouble, you said you didn't want to sleep," your giggles grew louder as his lips brushed over your jawline, lowering in their well-known torturingly slow pace down your neck and taking a little detour across your shoulder blade, a sensation that tickled through your entire body. When he looks up with a devilish grin hidden behind the kindest and most loving eyes, you knew, though you'd never doubted it before, that the risk most definitely paid off.

Judging a Derek by His Cover
“Seriously? You have to ask?” Stiles asked, in a bit of a disbelieving tone. “I mean I-... have you seen you? Resisting you sounds impossible, Derek, I mean seriously. I don’t think anyone in their right mind would tell you no if you gave them even a second look that’s- that’s impossible, you’re-”
Derek had already begun to tune out, a sick feeling crawling from the pit of his stomach upwards. He had grabbed for his shoes, fumbling slightly as he slid them on, in the middle of Stiles’ rambling. Before the other could continue, Derek waved away the rest with a nod.
“Right, right - you’re not… blind,” Derek interrupted. Stiles seemed a bit stunned at the overly neutral tone. Moving past Stiles without looking him properly in the eye, Derek mumbled about needing to get ready. Stiles attempted to stop him, his voice going low once the door opened, but it was of no use.

OR: a fic from the vaults, inspired by modern-day royalty au, derek’s penchant for being sought after just for his looks, and im not sure what else was going on in my brain at the time tbh
Word Count: 4387
———
“I have to get ready,” Derek said, pushing himself up and out of the bed. He sighed, sitting on the edge, staring at his hands a bit blankly. He wished he could freeze time - stay in moments like these. These moments are stolen in between chores and tasks, family and staff. He didn’t want to have to leave.
“Oh?” Stiles asked, stretching out lazily, tucking his hands behind his head. “What’s on the agenda today, sir prince?”
The tone was teasing but it made Derek cringe. Another reminder. He didn’t hate his position or his family or his people or any of it - he loved Beacon and his family was amazing and he adored being able to be a part of what made all of it. But, his position - his title - came with limitations. Expectations.
“Some gathering,” Derek mumbled, ducking his head a bit lower, “my mom says it’s in celebration of the peace treaties - ten years this week. But…”
“But…?” Stiles prompted, moving to curl behind Derek, his chin resting on a pillow as he gazed up at the other’s face. Derek cut his eyes to the side, letting the slightest of smiles curve across his lips before it fell off again. That was another one of Stiles’ talents - his ability to make Derek laugh and smile, no matter the day or its events.
“But,” Derek gathered a deep breath, “she’s been hinting at… socializing, at dating. She keeps bringing up names and countries and heirs and… I don’t know. She keeps mentioning Braeden and just…”
Stiles moved away, crawling up to a sitting position himself. Derek cast a look back at the other, waiting for some sort of response. It took a minute, Stiles facing away from him and seemingly fiddling with his shirt and hair. When he turned back he had a wide grin, cheeky and teasing.
“Oh you’ll do fine, Der, who could ever resist you? Huh?” Stiles said, giving him a nod of appreciation. It made Derek’s throat dry up, a reminder creeping in.
“Resist me…” Derek repeated a bit dumbly, staring now to the side of Stiles’ head, looking unseeingly out the window on the opposite side of the room. He heard Stiles give a huff of laughter, saw the shaking of his head from his peripheral.
“Obviously,” Stiles scoffed, “they’d have to be blind!” And that’s when Derek’s blood ran a bit cold, color draining from his face ever so slightly. “Anyways, I should - uh- get going. Let you get ready for the party and all that.”
Stiles stood up, fingers carding through his hair before tugging at and smoothing down his shirt. They’d laid lazily in the spare room for hours, taking turns carding fingers through one another’s hair, biting lingering kisses into one another’s lips, straddling each other’s laps as they got lost in the quietness disturbed only by soft groans and gasps. It had been bliss, those couple hours together. It was one of the only times Derek didn’t feel like he was on display or out of place to some degree. It felt right. Comfortable.
Staying quiet, Derek watched as Stiles stood up, slipping his shoes back on and fretting over his clothes again. He was always busy, mind and body in constant motion even if it didn’t make sense. It used to infuriate Derek when Stiles first began working in the library - he could never focus with the other’s mumbles and murmurs and humming and moving. It was chaotic in the smallest of ways. Now, though, he felt restless if Stiles didn’t move - his skin felt prickled if the younger man stayed still too long, a wrongness about it.
Before Stiles could open the door and sneak a look outside before he darted out, Derek asked, “Why didn’t you?”
Stiles paused, looking at the other in confusion and a half tilt of his head. “Why… why didn’t you resist me or - turn me down? Why?” Derek elaborated. His voice held steady and sounded normal but his heart was lodged in his throat and the tips of his fingers felt numb.
The question at least gave Stiles pause. He stepped back closer in the room, an incredulous look on his face once his mind seemed to catch up. He began waving, hands exaggeratedly emphasizing the length of Derek’s form still sitting on the bed before he gave an answering huff.
Derek always spoke in an even manner, known for being a bit brasher in his tone than others but fairly neutral and even overall - it was a mark of the Hale family, after all. To be balanced in all ways. He couldn’t risk being too nice or too rude. He may toe the line of overly curt and brash but he was never outright cold with his words. But even he could hear it - the change in his voice. It was exceptionally vague - not a hint of brashness. He was as even as his mother in her political discussions - unreadable.
Moving past Stiles without looking him properly in the eye, Derek mumbled about needing to get ready. Stiles attempted to stop him, his voice going low once the door opened, but it was of no use. Even the soft touch to Derek’s shoulder as he stepped out slid off with just a single step, allowing the steadily growing wall between them to commence.
Derek tried not to think about it. Shoved the thoughts out of his mind as he left the mostly empty hall and trailed back to his own room. He shouldn’t have thought Stiles would be interested in anything else besides his looks. It was, after all, his saving grace. After Kate’s stunt years back, most people averted their eyes - unable to meet Derek’s. It lingered with some, but it only took a year or two at most before he was once more a display.
Giggling visitors from other countries bashfully complimented him on how handsome he was, eyes raking up and down his body at parties and celebrations. Tabloids posted dozens of photos whenever he left the palace - endless remarks of his looks and how well clothes fit him and how others were sure the good looks didn’t stop at just his face pouring from every media outlet in the country and even in others.
He was used to it. He smiled his practiced smile, knew when to bow his head and murmur thanks. He was used to the squeezes to his bicep when being requested to dance and the lingering eyes of his partners. But that was it. Even Kate had said so when she still played the part of smitten girlfriend.
She’d tease him for his quiet nature and his lack of ability to feed into normal conversations. He could talk policy as needed and he had a plethora of books surrounding philosophers, history, and even art at his disposal - but they were drab topics outside of negotiations and proper business. And even if the analysis of Picasso’s The Old Guitarist was one Derek found interesting and showed the necessity of the arts and their value to civilizations old and new, Kate didn’t want to hear about it. Besides, even with his most impassioned topics on the table he still was a man of few words. Part of that came from being the son of the reigning Queen of Beacon, another part came from Kate’s backhanded nature.
Either way, it didn’t matter. Derek earned his keep with his looks. He was a nice face to look at and a figure that harnessed desire. Either no one cared what else he might be able to offer or his lack of personality drove them back to their distanced gazes. Just because Stiles could quote at least one line from every book Derek has ever picked up since he started working in the library and just because Stiles had enough words for five people let alone a conversation of two didn’t mean he wouldn’t be the same.
It was to be expected.
+.+.+
Several hours later found Derek in one of his more casual attires but one fit for a prince nonetheless. The party and celebration were not one for hosting political affairs - they were for rejoicing. Sure, it was shared amongst several other visiting countries, and the sprawling room and subsequent halls were filled with faces far and wide, but none of them came to talk about further negotiations, treaties, or trade options. They all came to eat, dance, and laugh - embracing the decade’s worth of peace since King Christopher took his father’s place in Silvenia and ended the wars and trade blocks.
Derek stood off to the side, doing his best to obscure himself as much as possible in the throng of people. He’d eaten, he’d talked to his family, and he’d even danced with several people. He had done his share, he thought. This was meant to be enjoyed, and he enjoyed being alone.
He couldn’t, however, forever hide from Braeden. He’d seen his mother walking with her, laughing. His mother’s eyes seemed to search the crowd, trying to find him, and he did his best to slink away before she caught a whiff of his location. He’d done a good job so far, but he knew it was a fruitless endeavor to try and avoid her all night. It had only been two hours and the celebration would more than likely go well into the night. His mother would find him eventually.
Musing the odds of success if he were to try and slink away to his room or possibly to the gardens for a couple of hours to avoid detection a bit longer, Derek zoned out momentarily - unaware of his surroundings. He acknowledged the movement of others, the change in music, but it was all background noise in his mind. Which is why it was the perfect time for him to be found.
Just not by his mother, it seemed.
“Derek?” Stiles asked, gently laying a hand on his arm, eyebrows scrunched up in concern. “You okay?”
Shaking himself out of his clouded thoughts, Derek nodded and went to pull away from Stiles’ touch - planning to test out his garden escape. He should’ve been looking out for the man. After all, Stiles has been a regular attendee of nearly all the Hale family’s gatherings and parties for over 10 years. His father was now the Head of Palace Guards and his mother had once overseen the library he now worked in. Stiles’ presence was all but guaranteed between his two parents both working in the palace on a daily basis. Derek had just distantly hoped he wouldn’t approach him here - similar to all previous events.
“Then you wouldn’t mind me asking for a dance, would you?” Stiles asked, his eyebrows now unscrunched, one raised in question as he held out his hand. Derek stared for a moment, bewildered.
In all the years Stiles had attended these gatherings, he’d never once asked to dance with Derek - he rarely spoke to him. He’d danced with Cora once or twice, the two having been closer as kids since they were the same age and Cora deciding Stiles was the perfect partner for her scheming ploys. But even now in recent times, since Derek and Stiles had begun their… whatever it was between them, he had never asked. It had been nearly a year of sneaking into hidden library corners, empty guest rooms, and ducking into stable stalls - stealing kisses, fingers unbuttoning shirts, hands roaming skin. In that same time over a handful of parties, political events, and other such gatherings had come to pass of all different magnitudes and Stiles had all but avoided Derek.
Cautiously, Derek put down the drink in his hand and laid the other in Stiles’ open palm. He let the other pull him seamlessly into the throng of moving bodies. The music wasn’t slow enough for proper dance steps but it wasn’t fast enough to deter other couples from swaying and moving across the floor together. Blessedly, Stiles moved into the crowd and guided one of Derek’s hands to his waist, clasping the other in his hand while Stiles laid his second hand on Derek’s shoulder.
No one really led in this dance, but Stiles letting him control the speed and direction was a godsend as he was sure to stumble if he had to follow. Derek was sure he had Cora to thank for that, as he recalled his younger sister demanding to be the lead and making a young, 11-year-old Stiles learn to follow in all their dance numbers. He recalls hiding smirks and laughs behind his hand and drinks, watching the two kids stumble about when Stiles accidentally went to lead them and Cora stubbornly refused to follow.
He pushed those memories aside, trying to remove the fond film he’s learned to lay over all the memories with Stiles in them. He doesn’t know when he’d begun to do it, but it was harder than he’d expected to try and stop it.
“You left kinda fast earlier,” Stiles finally murmured, voice low as his eyes danced around the room. They got a couple of second glances, those who knew of Stiles’ position a bit surprised to find the two dancing together. Sure, he danced with Cora over the years, but that was largely when they were kids and it was cute - something for the adults to coo over and take pictures of.
“Yes,” Derek answered simply. He didn’t know what Stiles wanted and he preferred to keep his cards close to his chest. Stiles huffed at the minimal response, a fond eye roll following it shortly after.
“Okay, thanks for that,” Stiles teased, “what I meant is why? Did- did I say something to upset you? Did something happen - are you okay?”
Even in shorter sentences, Stiles still somehow rambled. His tempo was a bit too fast, his tone of voice wavering and pitching in odd places, teeth biting at his lips as he came up with a dozen more thoughts - his face mirroring his reaction to each one in live action. Derek quelled the amusement he found in the mannerisms.
“Just wanted to leave.”
At this, Stiles seemed to stutter in movement, feet delayed and causing the two to stumble momentarily. Both of Derek’s hands moved to hold him at the waist, righting him before he could fall while Stiles’ hands both gripped Derek’s shoulders to help anchor himself. They found themselves closer together, the stance becoming a bit more personal and intimate than before.
“Leave… me?” Stiles whispered quietly, looking over Derek’s shoulder. Derek stayed quiet, unsure how to answer without giving too much away. “Is it because of what I said? That I’m attracted to you? Did that upset you?” It was Derek’s turn to bring a stutter to their movements, going rigid. He thankfully composed himself much quicker, only setting them off by a step at most that was easily regained.
“I don’t have an issue with you finding me attractive, Stiles,” Derek sighed, “like you said, who isn’t.”
It wasn’t a question. But he couldn’t control the bite that came out with the last two words, a bit of a sarcastic drawl underlining his words. At this, Stiles snapped his eyes to the side, looking questioningly at his dance partner. Derek didn’t explain any further, instead avoiding direct eye contact as best he could while still dancing.
“Is that…” Stiles’ words faltered, dying off. Even without looking at his face, Derek could see his thoughts play out. He swear he could hear the gears grinding in his head as he raced through all possible questions, answers, scenarios, and each of their meanings in a span of a few seconds. It would never cease to impress and exasperate Derek how Stiles thought just as quickly as he spoke - often one blending into the other without filter or regard for how his words came out.
“Der,” Stiles said, his voice suddenly a bit louder and demanding. Derek just raised his eyebrows in response, gaze still not meeting Stiles’. The younger boy huffed, hides sliding up from Derek’s shoulders to grip either side of his face and force Derek to look at him before he continued speaking. “What I said was true. I don’t know any sane person who would turn you down, but - that’s not the only reason I’m attracted to you. You know that, right? You have to know that.”
Derek swallowed the lump in his throat, giving a partial shrug to try and show his indifference on the matter. It seemed to be the wrong response, however, when Stiles growled out low in frustration, his fingers digging in a bit more into Derek’s skin and demanding his attention.
“You have to know,” he said, incredulous. “You think - what? All this time I just wanted some casual… fling? That I just saw a pretty face and that was all it took? A pretty face and I spend hours sneaking away from my work, hiding from my dad, skirting around guards?”
Stiles paused, but not long enough for Derek to actually respond. He shook his head as if in disbelief before continuing, “Is that it? You thought I just wanted to fuck around with you? Jesus Christ, how shallow do you think I am? Better yet! How stupid?! If I just wanted someone for their looks why would I go after a prince? A prince, Derek. I know we’re evolved and all but I’m sure your mom would still approve a hanging or beheading or some other medieval offing of me, fuck.”
Derek couldn’t help but crack a wry grin at Stiles’ vomit of words, head ducking down slightly as he tamped down on his laughter. The idea of his mother not only approving but requesting a beheading seemed comical - the woman was terse and poised, levelheaded beyond compare, but she was also the same woman who cried over Animal Planet at 9 PM on a Tuesday after seeing a crocodile eat a baby zebra. She blubbered about ‘the poor baby’ for half an hour, squeezing Cora into a smushed hug against her chest and all but breaking Derek’s bones as she held his hand. It was a hilarious thought, all things considered.
Stiles’ noise of exasperation broke him from his daddling thoughts, surprising Derek. Another thing Stiles was good at; even without trying, he got Derek lost in his own rambling thoughts - Stiles’ jabber and ranting offering endless avenues of thought and consideration, even if absurd. It was a nice change of pace, having something to ponder and get lost in. Something that was entertaining and not all too important that demanded his full focus or response all at once.
“Derek, I am about to make a damn fool of myself and if someone overhears this and then sees you walk away from me I think I’ll be forced to exile myself but, Jesus fuck , here it goes,” Stiles let out a long breath, eyes closing briefly before reopening and settling on Derek as if he were a target. “I am in-fucking-love with you. I love how you speak with your eyebrows and eye rolls better than any person can with words. I love how you obsessively read fucking historical books and pour over goddamn poetry and art journals. I love how you get spaced out when we talk about centuries-old plays and hundred-year-old paintings as if you can’t comprehend what they mean and are stunned by their mere existence. I love how you talk and sound like you’re thinking of murdering me and then just- laugh! And god, your laugh - I still can’t figure out if it’s your smile or your laugh that’s my favorite. And, fuck- I just… I can’t think of a single thing I don’t obsessively think about when it comes to you. And of course, of course, you’re fucking beautiful - work of art, walking god, all the usuals - but I… I just love being with you.”
They stopped dancing, coming to a halt in the middle of the mass of people. Derek is sure the song changed, people who still lingered a bit further away now going through similar steps and movements he couldn’t be bothered to recall or put a name to. He also knew they were being watched - hell, he’s sure half a dozen people caught at least half of that spiel, with Stiles’ voice raising in tone and pitch and volume like crazy throughout as if he couldn’t control it.
He felt a bit punch drunk, in a way. He didn’t know if he should be embarrassed that Stiles caught him wistfully zoning out over paintings or if he should laugh at the fact that Stiles has somehow done what not even his family has by being able to read and understand his responses just by facial expressions alone. It felt like a weight had been removed from his shoulders but his stomach felt heavy, stirring with nerves.
“You love me?” he finally asked. Stiles groaned, smacking his head against the curve of his own arm that rested against Derek’s shoulder. He was muttering and cursing quietly.
“I only repeated it about a hundred times but, yes. Yes - I love you. I am in love with you, I will figure out all the euphemisms to say it and learn it in as many languages as I can. Hell, I’ll do it old school - find a fucking boombox and sta-”
Stiles’ remaining rant cut off as Derek pulled his chin up, pressing a harsh kiss against the other’s lips. It wasn’t soft or biting, just… hard. Solid. Reassuring. Stiles helped quell the bruising press of lips by softly dragging a thumb over Derek’s cheek, the gesture making the kiss soften until they both were pulling away. Stiles looked awestruck, eyes dancing and sliding side to side to take in the room before ultimately landing once more on Derek’s face, a pleased grin taking over his face as their eyes met.
“I’ve been stupidly in love with you ever since you began singing that awful song when I tried to explain what a Blue Period was and then I kept humming it all week because it was stuck in my head,” Derek offered as an explanation for his actions. Stiles paused, eyebrows pulled together in consideration for a second before he broke out into loud laughter, probably remembering the exact scene from two years prior. If no one saw them before they surely had garnered enough people’s attention by now.
“I think I’ve been in love with you since you told Harris off for making me cry during the Polka,” Stiles grinned. It was Derek’s turn to bark out a laugh, louder than he had laughed in a while. He remembered that, it was 8 years ago - when Stiles and Cora were still learning various dances. Cora had to learn for the sake of her title and appearance, Stiles was just the poor culprit she wrangled into the mess and who could barely keep time with the three-step beat, leading to lots of stumbling and Harris berating him before Derek growled out a retort about being so pathetic to bully a child.
Derek remembered it as a scarring experience, Stiles refusing to dance for two weeks after. Stiles, however, decided it was the moment in which he’d fall in love with a then-angry, overly private 16-year-old that barely even spoke to him. Derek wasn’t sure which moment of realization was more absurd between them.
“You were thirteen !”
“And I was in love!”
It got quiet between the two, both of them just grinning at the other. Neither bothered to realize just how quiet it had gotten, or how much space had been carved out around them during their conversation. They were lost in their own world, ignorant to the rest of the room around them.
It wasn’t until a minute or two passed when a cleared throat caught their attention, making them realize the quieter atmosphere and their center stage set up among the crowd. Talia - Queen Talia - stood beside them, a knowing smirk on her face as she regarded them with a raised eyebrow, hands clasped in front of her.
Stiles gave a half-choked squawk in realization while Derek bowed his head, his cheeks heating in embarrassment. They separated abruptly, standing side by side to face Talia head-on.
“So,” Talia broke the silence, “I don’t think I’ll be introducing you to Braeden anytime soon. Seeing as you already have a boyfriend, hm?”
Stiles choked again, some mangled word dying in his throat, while Derek simply looked up at his mom with a deer-in-the-headlights look. When she gave a pointed tilt of her head, eyes shooting to Stiles as the younger man seemed paralyzed on the spot, Derek knew she was encouraging him to confirm. To say something .
“Yes,” he finally managed to pull out, his hand reaching out to grasp Stiles’ and squeezing it in question. When he got an immediate squeeze in response, he gave his mother a wide, genuine smile. “I’m dating Stiles.”
With that, Talia seemed pleased. She clapped her hands, announced that further celebration was to commence, and then left them as they were. It was oddly anti-climatic, the room returning to its usual activity and volume as before - only sneaky side glances were thrown their way in curiosity. It was easy for Derek to pull Stiles back to the outskirts of the room, however, the two of them were unable to stop glancing at each other and sharing smiles.

A Derek hale x reader story
Summary: Derek and y/n finally have their long awaited date
Tumblr media
When y/n awoke the next morning it hadn't taken her long to realize Derek hadn't been home at all, as his side of the bed was still somewhat made up. This made her somewhat worried. Her worry only worsened when she saw the amount of messages she had from both Scott and Stiles, claiming to have been attacked by the alpha and Derek being dead. Y/n felt as if the world froze as she re-read the words on her screen. The words that echoed in her brain were "Derek was killed". With y/ns experience (Derek and herself included) when a supernatural creature dies, it rarely stays dead. Just this time she didn't know if the same applied to Derek or not. No body was found so there was hope there.
———
Y/n was over at Deaton's, he'd never failed to remind her that she always had a room in his home (as well as in the Stilinski's) and she finally took him up on his offer, deciding she didn't want to be at home alone, or burden Noah and deal with his hyperactive creation and his stupidly oblivious best friend. She was staring at the ceiling with nothing on her mind, finally able to rid herself of the image of Derek being thrown to the side after being stabbed through his back into his chest. She'd begun having a feeling in her stomach, something telling her to go open her window, she didn't complain she needed the fresh air, and she had a feeling she knew what it was about.
One glance out of the now open window and she let out a sigh of relief "Finally" she said backing away to open space for him to climb in.  When he entered the window and stood in front of her he tilted his head to the side and squinted his eyes "Really? 'Finally'?" He mocked. Y/n smiled teasingly "You are the only person I know too stubborn to be killed and stay dead," she said. "Funny," Derek said sarcastically, and y/ns teasing stopped. She hugged him "All jokes aside I missed you, and I was worried. I thought about resurrecting you," she said joking but also serious.  "I would've expected you to," Derek said also joking but serious. Y/n laughed placing her head on his chest, Derek placed a kiss on Y/n's forehead then to her nose and lastly her lips, y/n let out a breath as they moved in sync, pulling away she inhaled looking him in the eye "thought id never get to feel that again" she said before the two went into a comforting silence and swayed for a while.
"Get dressed," he said suddenly. Y/n pulled away confused, "I am dressed," she said slowly. Derek laughed "No I mean get dressed up I'm taking you on that well-deserved date," he said smiling. Y/n's eyes lit up "It's about time I was promised a date weeks ago," she said giddily before she paused. "Wait it's a full moon," she said. He shakes his head "Schools are not out yet, we'll be done by the time the sun sets" Derek says. Y/n nodded, both of them knew it wasn't the most ideal amount of time but between the alpha, the "newborn" wolf, and the hunters, this would probably be the only time they had off, 1. Because everyone -Scott and Stiles- thinks Derek's dead, and 2. They also think y/n is mourning her loss.
——————————
Derek was lucky y/n had left some things here from when she was a teenager and she could still fit into them, specifically a black dress and her black combat heel boots that funnily enough she didn't get to wear as much as she wanted to. Derek had left about 45 minutes ago to get ready himself, y/n didn't know where he'd get something fancy because all he owned was his infamous black leather jacket, some t-shirts, and jeans, he called it "packing light". When y/n was finished dressing she put on a barely noticeable red lipgloss and mascara, deciding that she didn't want to overdo it. She headed downstairs to meet him at the door, she already knew he was there from the not-so-quiet way his car pulled up. She opened the door, coming face to face with Derek who looked even more handsome than usual in his black kind of formal outfit. "You look beautiful" he said taking in her outfit, she smiles "thank you, have I told you how much I love the color black on you?" she asked; Derek's smile widened "only once a day" he said. His eyes fell to the shoes she was wearing, but this time taking a good look, "are those the ones you used to dent Jason's car" he asked pointing at the shoes. y/ns eyes widened at the memory "Oh my gosh I completely forgot about that" she said covering her mouth while giggling.
Derek laughed along with her, before holding out his hand for y/n to take, which she did. He led her to his car and held the door open for her before getting in himself and pulling off in the direction of the location where their date took place. The place Derek had set up was in the middle of a huge green field, it was a picnic. Y/n covered her mouth in shock "You did this?" she asked looking up at him with tears pricking her eyes. Derek smiled and nodded, y/n pulled him down by his collar, connecting their lips. Derek let out a groan before y/n pulled away "Thank you" she said with a smile.
the two sat and talked for hours about everything and nothing, "why'd you do it?" Derek asked. "do what" Y/n asked face etched with confusion, "dent Jason's car." he answered. y/n sighed dropping her head in embarrassment. "Well you know I was really angry back then, with you shutting me out because of Kate, and around that time I was also looking for my parents. Something Jason had somehow found out about, I think he'd found my journal. Haven't had it since then. But it had all of my secrets, your secrets and I couldn't let it get out, and he never let me forget that he knew. I mean it was every day he had said something about it, so one day during a break he was in the gym playing basketball with you, I went outside and his car was there and I was angry, so I kicked it again and again. Back then I wasn't aware of my strength." She said, Derek sat taking in the information. "Once a protector always a protector," he said. "What, I tell you the story and that's what you say," y/n asked jokingly. Derek rolled his eyes in the dramatic Derek fashion "I meant you've been protecting me since before you were even given the role of a protector." He said. Y/n nodded, not ever having thought about it that way, "well someone's gotta watch out for you while you have your back turned" she said leaning in to kiss him but was stopped when her phone began to buzz, she picked it up and Stiles' name popped up
Stiles- I know it's hard for you right now, but it's the full moon, and Scott's starting to look like he wants to murder me
Y/n sighed, "stiles says he thinks Scotts gonna kill him," she said. Derek groaned "Guess the dates' over huh?" He said looking at her. Y/n nodded "Duty calls," she said. Derek nodded but bought his hand up to her chin to pull her in for one last deep kiss, y/n pulled away looking at Derek with love filled eyes to which he returned.
And just like that the date was over, and Derek was watching over Scott from afar (much to her dismay) she wanted him home resting and he wanted her home resting and everyone could see who won that debate.

how you get the girl | d.h.
summary: it's been six months since derek stopped replying to your texts, so why was he suddenly standing in front of your door?
pairing: derek hale x reader, nickname "brooklyn"
word count: 3,2k
warnings: cursing
author's note: hello hello and welcome to the first fic of series inspired by taylor swift's 1989! we're starting off strong with how you get the girl. all the fics a part of this series are connected, but it's not necessary to read all of them to understand the plot though it is recommended by me. also i think you should know that i have adopted a way of avoiding the use of Y/N by giving my readers a nickname (courtesy of the top gun fandom) which is brooklyn/b. hope it's okay!! tagging @stilinskiderek bc i know she's been waiting for this. title is from taylor swift's how you get the girl
You had almost missed the tentative knocks on your front door with the endless rain pelting against your roof and all your windows, until the knocks became louder and more incessant. “I’m coming!” you shouted, wrapping your cardigan tighter around your frame as you padded to the front door. As you swung it open, you had to stop yourself from slamming the door shut again when you saw who was standing on your front porch. Derek lifted his head, his hair wet and stuck against his skin. If you hadn’t known that werewolves were basically a walking furnace, you’d guess he was shaking from the cold rain and invite him in. But alas, he probably wasn’t even cold and there was also the thing where you were super mad at him.
“Are you insane?”
Derek blinked at you and then had the audacity to give you a small smile. “Hey. It’s been a while, huh?”
Really? Six months of radio silence and that was the thing he decided to open with? You let out a sigh of disbelief and moved to shut the door in his face, before Derek put his foot in the gap, his hand pushing it back open.
“Wait, wait! I’m sorry!”
Reluctantly, you slowly pulled the door open again, glaring at him.
“What do you want?”
Derek gestured inside your house, small rain droplets flinging from his sleeve.
“Aren’t you going to invite me in?”
“Can you give me a reason to?”
Your eyes were hard and Derek realized how serious you were being. He sighed softly, rubbing the back of his neck.
“I can explain, okay? Can you just let me in? Please?”
Contemplating, you were quiet for a second before you opened the door wider for him to come in.
“Stay. I’ll get you a towel, don’t need you to track your muddy paws into my house,” you said, heading to your closet to grab him a towel. You knew the dog jokes were a low blow but you didn’t really care. Grabbing a spare towel from the shelf, you returned to Derek who apparently had taken his shoes off. His jacket was hanging off a coat rack and he was standing by the dresser, holding a picture frame. You knew exactly what picture it was. Instead of trying to find an excuse you tossed the towel at him, fully intending to sock him in the face with it, but he was still a werewolf, catching it easily with one hand. He put the picture back and dried himself off.
“Thanks.”
You forwent an answer and instead picked up the picture frame, putting it in the back; the image of you kissing Derek on the cheek being obscured by pictures of Isaac, Kira and Stiles. You could feel Derek’s eyes on you, but when you turned back to him, he was hanging his jacket on the coat rack, the towel around his neck.
Giving him a brief once over, you noticed that he looked good. Well-nourished and healthy. At least he wasn’t being held in some rotten basement. But that meant he didn’t really have an excuse for why he ghosted you.
“How long have you been in town?”
“Just got in. I just checked into the loft before I came here,” Derek said, toweling his hair dry with a frown.
“What, didn’t you have to announce your presence to the Alpha for breaching his territory?” you said, somewhat mockingly and Derek gave you a look. You just rolled your eyes at him, growing impatient.
“You said you were going to explain.”
Derek nodded, but it was clear that he was struggling to find his words. So much for that explanation.
“If you don’t have anything to say Derek, you can just leave,” you sighed, exhausted and disappointed at the same time. “That’s what you’re best at, right?”
Without waiting for an answer, you walked over to the couch, sitting down, but Derek was hot on your heels, clearly agitated.
“You knew I was trying to get Cora out of here, I was trying to keep her safe!”
“Yeah, but that was before you completely went AWOL and stopped returning my texts,” you interjected, glaring at him. “Six months, Derek. I didn’t even know if you were alive or not.”
Derek scoffed, glaring at the floor. “I’m sorry. I didn’t-” he broke off with a frustrated huff, dropping down on the arm chair across from you. “I’m sorry I made you worry. That wasn’t my intention… I wanted to text you. I did, but I didn’t now what to say or how to explain myself… When I dropped Cora off with her old pack I envied her that she was able to start new after everything that happened. And I guess seeing her so happy and burden free… It made me wonder what I wanted out of my life.”
And it apparently wasn’t you?
You crossed your arms, burrowing deeper into the couch, not really liking his explanation so far. Did he just come here to insult you and make everything worse?
“Would you let me finish explaining before you plan my demise?” Derek asked dryly and your eyes snapped up at him, realizing that he could smell the anger coming off of you. You jerked your chin, telling him to continue.
“At first I stayed with Cora for a while, thought I could settle with a new pack but I didn’t feel right. Not really.” Derek rubbed the back of his neck. “I flew back here and picked up my car, started driving. I guess I just felt free for the first time, which I didn’t mind, but I really missed you so that’s when I started writing you letters.”
Wait, what?
“Hold up,” you said, waving your hands around for good measure. “Letters? What letters? I didn’t get any letters.”
Derek stared at you for a good minute, the tips of his ears turning pink honest to god. With a small exhaled stood up, disappearing into the hallway. For a split second, you were actually scared that he’d leave again, as you scooted to the edge of the couch, ready to jump up and follow him as soon as you heard the front door shut but Derek returned, a small brown package in his hand. You allowed yourself to sink back into the couch and Derek pretended not to notice as he unwrapped the paper wrapper slowly, revealing a stack of letters. He put the stack on the coffee table, pushing it in your direction as you stared at it. It had to be about 20 letters, all addressed to you, stamped and everything, just not mailed.
Mouth agape, you looked at Derek, who was resolutely staring at the floor.
“At first I felt stupid. But then I just thought about what I would tell you if this letter was addressed to you and then it just got so much easier writing it all down.” Derek glanced at you, face guarded. “You don’t have to read them. It’s not an excuse for not texting or calling, but-”
“I’m gonna read them.”
Derek raised his eyebrows in surprise.
“I mean, I don’t forgive you.” Not yet, at least. “But I will read them.”
Derek huffed out dry laugh, sounding amused. “That’s fair, I guess.” He took another deep breath. “About two months after I left, something started changing in me. I felt like I was losing my abilities, my strength. I felt weaker.”
“What? What happened?”
“I don’t know. I met up with an old pack that my mother used to know. They helped me figure out what was going on,” Derek explained and you narrowed your eyes at him.
“And? Don’t leave me hanging, what happened?”
Derek grimaced. “I think it’s better if show you.”
You had no idea what he meant, watching him intently as he got up. When he started taking off his shirt, your mouth flew open. “What the hell are you doing? Stop taking your clothes off!”
Derek glared at you, tossing his shirt on the arm chair before he disappeared behind the book shelf. You heard his belt hitting the floor and there were about a hundred thoughts racing through your head, trying to find a logical explanation for his behavior when a huge black wolf came out into the living room. Your eyes widened and instinctively you backed up against the couch, even as the wolf somehow gave you a look.
“Derek?”
The wolf flashed his eyes, a brilliant blue, the ones you loved so much on Derek, and you covered your mouth with your hand.
“Holy shit!”
The wolf, Derek, came around the couch and padded towards you, nosing his snout on your knee. You patted his head gently, fingers diving into the black fur, that was surprisingly soft. For some reason you had expected it to be hard and coarse. He let out a soft whine, pushing his head closer into your hands.
“Who’s a good doggy?”
You knew the dog jokes were so old but Stiles would’ve never forgiven you for not using this opportunity. Derek growled, snapping his teeth at you playfully before retreating behind the couch. For a second he stayed still then somehow shifted back into his human form. Wincing, you kept your eyes on his face as he walked back behind the book shelf, presumably to put his clothes back on.
“That’s insane, Derek,” you told him when he came back around, pants back on. “Your mother and Laura could turn into a wolf, too right? So, is it like a Hale gene thing, or?”
Derek shrugged, picking his shirt back up to put it on. “I don’t know. There’s not really a record of werewolves that can fully shift, but there are others who can do it. It’s unclear as to what triggers the transformation, though.” He sat back down on the arm chair, somewhat uncomfortable. Clearly he was much more open with his emotions as a wolf.
“Does it hurt?”
“Not really. It’s a bit uncomfortable, but it’s not like I can actually feel my bones changing.. I’ve always felt like I was… Incomplete. But when I fully shifted for the first time, it was so freeing. Like I finally achieved what I’ve been working towards my whole life.
“So, you finally got your life in order, huh? Got everything you want?”
Derek shifted nervously on the chair and you knew what he was struggling with. You didn’t know yet if you were going to make it easy on him.
“I called you every day.”
“I know and it took everything in me not to pick up.”
“You’ve got a lot of amends to make.”
And he did. Not only with you, there were people he hurt even before he left and you didn’t even have to say a name for Derek to know who you were talking about. He must have known as soon as he stepped into the house.
“Yeah. That is mostly also why I didn’t want to let him down again, I wanted to be able to protect him before I came back.”
Even if you could forgive Derek and take him back, you couldn’t promise it would help salvage Derek’s relationship with Isaac. Their bond was different and you didn’t want to intervene in it. It was Isaac’s decision to whether he would forgive Derek or not. You knew Derek cared a lot for Isaac, but he hurt him. It wasn’t something that Isaac could easily get past.
“I know I hurt you,” Derek started. “And I know it’s going to take a lot of work for you to trust me again not to leave. But I promise, I won’t leave again. Ever. You’re it for me, Brooklyn.”
You startled at the use of the old nickname. It has been a while since he called you that.
“I’ll wait for as long as it takes for you to trust me again. And even if we only stay friends, that’s fine with me. I’ll take you in any way you’ll have me.”
Your mouth was open, but you couldn’t find the words. While you’ve know how Derek felt for you, he had never actively said it, like you said, Derek was a man of little words.
“Are you seeing someone else?” Derek’s tone was mostly neutral, but you could tell there was an edge to it. Wolves have always been kind of jealous, and Derek wasn’t really an exception.
“Didn’t you just say you’d be fine with being friends?” You asked sharply and Derek clenched his jaw, lowering his head. You let him simmer in disappointment for a while before you sighed.
“Okay.”
Derek lifted his head, frowning at you. “Okay?”
“Okay, I’ll give you another chance.”
The smile that appeared on Derek’s face was almost worth all the pain he’d put you through for the past six months. Almost. He stood up and walked over to you, slowly, as if he was scared you’d change your mind. Lowering himself in front you, he took his hands into your, holding them tightly, but not so much that it hurt.
“If you’re gonna leave again, that’s it, Derek, you hear me?” you warned him and he nodded quickly, intently.
“I’m never leaving again.”
You huffed. annoyed, but appeased. You knew it took a lot for a born wolf to be kneeling in front of a human like this. Not that he had a higher rank than you. “Don’t make promises you can’t keep.”
“I’m not,” Derek insisted. “Didn’t you hear what I said? You’re it for me. I love you.”
Rolling your eyes, you flushed. “Shut up.”
Derek opened his mouth to say something, but he tensed, stopping. You were about to ask what was wrong, when you heard the door open.
“Hey, I’m home!” Isaac called, shutting the door behind him. That explained Derek’s tense shoulders. “Shit, it’s crazy out there.”
You could hear him shaking his jacket out, cluttering in the hallway.
“Hey, why does it smell like-” Isaac’s footsteps came closer, until they stopped and you looked at him, frozen in the door way.
“Derek.”
Isaac's presence was a comfort to you, and you appreciated the way he didn't make things awkward between you and Derek. But you also knew that Isaac was hurt by Derek kicking him out, of the pack and his loft.
"You smell like wet dog," you teased Isaac, trying to lighten the mood.
Isaac grinned, "Yeah, it's been raining cats and dogs outside."
Derek cleared his throat. He squeezed your hand before he got up, walking over to his first beta. Isaac’s eyes flickered to you, but you shrugged your shoulders. It was his choice.
“I’m sorry for the way I handled things with you after- after Boyd died. I was trying to protect you and I know I went at it the wrong way. Im not sorry for trying to protect you, you’re pack. I care about you. But I should’ve done it differently,” Derek said, grimacing. He looked like he about hit his word limit of the day.
Isaac didn’t reply and you could tell he was conflicted as his hands curled into fists. You held your breath, knowing this could go either way, with Isaac being loyal to a fault and Derek was the first person gave him the chance to get away from his father.
“I’m glad you’re okay,” Isaac then said, gently, and you exhaled slowly. He didn’t really acknowledge Derek’s apology, but you knew that was going to take time. This was a good start. He gave Derek a small smile, it was guarded, but it was a smile. Isaac’s eyes flitted over to you and he pointed towards his bedroom. “I'm gonna go change. I'm soaked. Can we do pizza for dinner?"
”Sure,” you agreed and Isaac bobbed his head twice, before going towards his room. When you heard his door shut, you turned to Derek, lifting a brow. “You’re lucky. Isaac has a big heart.”
Derek breathed a sigh of relief, looking at you with gratitude. "Yeah… I know I still got a long way ahead of me, but I’m glad he’s giving me another chance.”
As the rain continued to pound outside, the three of you settled in for a quiet evening of pizza and movies. Even though the three of you acted like this was just like before, it was obvious that everyone was walking on egg shells around each other. It was going to take longer before things would really get back to the way it was before.
“Hey, did you just pick the pepperoni off my pizza?!”
Or maybe not that long.
-
Dear Brooklyn,
I miss you more than words can express. It's been three months since I left and I still can't shake the feeling that I made a mistake. I am sorry for not responding to your texts and calls, but at the time, I just couldn't bring myself to talk to you. I was going through something, something that I didn't understand and I didn't want to burden you with it. But now, I realize that I should have at least told you what was going on. I'm sorry for shutting you out.
Something's happening to me, Brooklyn. I don't know what it is, but it feels like I am losing my strength. I wonder if it’s punishment from the universe for leaving you. I'm trying to figure it out, but it's difficult. I feel like I'm running out of time. I know you and Stiles would hit the books as soon as you find out about it, but I don't want to trouble you. I'm trying to get in contact with my mother's old allies to see if they can help me. That's why I'm in New York.
Being back here without you or Laura is hard. Everything reminds me of you both. I miss you so much, Brooklyn. You were always there for me, even when I didn't deserve it. And I'm sorry for hurting you. I know I have a lot of making up to do. But I promise you this, I will make it up to you. I will never leave you again.
I hope you're well and happy. How's Isaac? I know he's probably still mad at me, and I don't blame him. I messed up. But I'm glad you two have each other. Maybe you can both be mad at me together. I hope I can fix things when I come home. But even if you don't want to take me back, I'll understand. I just want to be in your life, Brooklyn.
Please take care of yourself.

Wherever You Will Go - Derek Hale x Reader
Tumblr media
A/N: Inspired by the song Wherever You Will Go by The Calling
pairing: Derek Hale x Reader
warnings: angst-ish with fluffy ending, mild swearing, pining, toxic relationships.
word count: 2.4k
“If a great wave shall fall, and fall upon us all, well then I hope there's someone out there who can bring me back to you”
You and your friends piled into your usual booth at the bar, the same one you frequented so many times years ago when you still lived in Beacon Hills, barely old enough to drink, and with no real responsibilities of adulthood to your name apart from the odd phone bill and college tuition payment. Your friends had always called you sheltered, although back then, you didn’t really know what that meant. You had led a cushioned existence until your early twenties came, sick of being the well-behaved, pampered princess your friends and classmates thought you were (and really, you had to admit now looking back, they weren’t wrong), you rebelled. It started with being more open to attending parties, going out with friends every time they invited you, rather than turning them down to study as you usually did.
Then, you met him.
At this point, you weren’t even sure what it was about Derek that reeled you in, other than the fact that he was everything your parents didn’t want you to date. Reserved, mysterious, rebellious, and often the centre of controversy - you knew Derek was the exact opposite of who everyone expected you to end up with, and that seemed to make you want him all the more at the time. He’d been resistant towards you at first - shrugging you off with a cold shoulder the first time you’d attempted to flirt with him. He was always so closed off, and he liked it that way.
Everyone you knew warned you that he wasn’t the type to open up and make you swoon with romantic gestures or musings of love - all things you’d talked about wanting from a partner - but once you did start to break down the walls he’d built, you couldn’t deny the fact that he was a different person under the persona. He was caring and passionate, even if he didn’t convey his feelings very well most of the time. Behind the frosty cold exterior he’d created for himself, was someone who just wanted to be loved and appreciated, someone who was scared of losing the people he was close to, and someone who was building up walls to guard themself from getting hurt.
Your love for Derek was hard and fast - you fell almost instantly when he rejected you the first time. You’d spent your whole life always getting what you wanted, and the fact that he’d denied you without as much as a second thought that first time made you crave him all the more. By the second attempt at conversation, you’d changed your approach from flirtatious to friendly, and you’d begun to wear down his resistance little by little, with Derek offering to buy you a drink by the end of the night. By that point, your friends had gone home, and you’d forgotten entirely about how that had meant walking home alone in the dark.
Derek sarcastically made a comment about not wanting to be questioned by the police if you didn’t make it home safe, with him being the last person you were seen with, and offered to walk you home. The next morning came the first text message, a simple, sarcastic, “Did you make it into bed without dying?” from Derek. Your reply was something along the lines of “Barely, but I’m here. Thanks for walking me home.”, and from there, you thought that the conversation would trail off, fizzling out and leaving you with nothing more than a one time gesture of friendliness from him. However, something ignited between the two of you - and to be honest, neither of you knew where it came from or why, but to everyone on the outside looking in, they’d say Derek fell as hard and fast as you did.
That one time text exchange turned into daily text messages checking in to see how you were, what your plans were, what his plans were, how he was, if he was planning on being at the bar again when the next night of drinking with your friends rolled around. From there came sneaking Derek into your bedroom window like a pair of high school lovers, forbidden from seeing each other past curfew. One night together turned into a weekly occurrence, and the weekly escapades of sneaking Derek in or you sneaking out turned into nightly rituals of hooking up in any space that was deemed discreet enough to hide your indiscretions.
All the old memories of your relationship with Derek came flooding back to you as you sipped your tequila sunrise, but just as quickly as they came, you were brought back to your senses by the sounds of your friends laughing and joking about their old college boyfriends. You blinked your eyes a couple of times as you stared off into space before snapping back to reality and looking to your friends, who were now glancing at you with raised eyebrows and sideways looks to one another.
“You still with us?”
“Yeah, yeah I’m fine. Just, thinking is all.” “Oh god, here we go.” Your friends all collectively let out a playful groan as they laughed, shaking their heads. Natalie, the least reserved of your group, looked at you with a knowing smirk as she put the straw of her drink to her lips, taking a sip.
“You were thinking about Derek, weren’t you? Wanting him to just walk through that door and sweep you away or some shit?”
“No, but weren’t we just discussing college boyfriends? He was my college boyfriend for two years,” you retorted dryly as you sipped your drink, shooting Natalie a dirty look as she teased you.
“I don’t think any sane person would call what you and Derek had a “healthy relationship”. You literally snuck him around like he was some kind of fugitive.”
“I did not. We just…liked the privacy.”
“Well, the way he ended things alone is reason to stop thinking about him. He was an asshole.”
You felt yourself fighting the urge to defend him and his actions, but you couldn’t deny the fact that Derek had ended things abruptly with you, and that you’d been heartbroken at the time. You knew he had his reasons - he had secrets and he was trying to protect you from them.
He was scared and didn’t want you to get hurt or risk losing you to something beyond his control, so by making it his decision to let you go, he figured you’d both be better off for it. At the time, you’d argued, stamped your feet, threw your fists against his chest, all but begging him to reconsider, but you knew it was futile, and that his mind was made up. It’d crushed you, but part of you always knew that when your relationship moved at the speed of light, it had to come crashing to a halt at some stage. It just happened sooner and more abruptly than you’d expected. Still, despite you understanding he was doing what he thought was best for both of you, part of you resented him for how coldly and nonchalantly he’d done it. How he’d just ended things without as much as giving you a chance to fight for your relationship.
“It was three years ago. I’m over it,” you responded coyly as you sipped your cocktail, trying to brush off your lingering feelings, or drown them in alcohol.
“Really? Let’s test that theory, because I think he just walked in.” Your head spun around a little faster than you should have considering the tequila you had coursing through your veins at the moment, your eyes looking towards the doorway expectantly as you held your breath before your gaze landed on him. Sure enough, there was Derek, haunting your otherwise uneventful night out with your friends like a nightmare personified. It wasn’t that you didn’t want to see him again, but for every happy memory that came to mind, a dozen reminders of how you’d felt when he left you would accompany them.
“I doubt he’ll say anything, and even if he does, I’m over it,” you reaffirmed, nodding your head as you looked back at your friends seated around the table.
“You’re right. He never did talk much. I always wondered what exactly you saw in him. He was always so…weird.”
As you opened your mouth to defend your relationship with Derek, you stopped, letting out a slight huff instead. You knew your friends were baiting you at this point, trying to get you to prove that you weren’t truly over Derek. And really, how could you be? He was your first everything - your mother warned you that you never forget your firsts, and as ridiculous as you thought she was at the time, in Derek’s case, it was true. You still loved him, as much as you hated to admit it.
You still loved the way his lips would turn up into a smirk whenever you said something he found amusing, like he was trying his hardest not to smile in public out of fear his reputation as a stoic, reserved individual could be blown. You loved the way his eyes weren’t quite green, yet weren’t quite hazel - sort of a colour all on their own. You loved the way that he would steal a kiss when he thought no one was around, his hand resting on your waist as he pulled you in to his body, holding you as close to him as physically possible, your body heat radiating between you. It had always been like he was starved for your touch, despite having seen him just a day before, and as soon as he held you close, you could see everything in him relax, all the tension and trauma he’d been holding on to, melting away for a brief time with you.
Turning your attention to your empty glass, you frowned as you excused yourself to head to the bar. You felt your friends watching you closely, almost protectively keeping a gaze on you in case Derek should approach with an unwanted reunion. You let out a sharp exhale as you tried to collect yourself, having not stood this close to him in three years, at least. You couldn’t let him get to you. You knew what would happen if he even as much looked in your direction. You’d get pulled back in within an instant - faster than your heart could beat. You couldn’t let yourself do it again.
You pretended to not see Derek, indifferent towards him, pretending he didn’t exist. Ordering yourself another drink, you leaned against the bar, your back turning to him in hopes he wouldn’t even see you there. However, sooner than you could request for the drink to go onto your tab, a leather jacket-clad arm extended in front of you, holding a credit card in its hand. The smell of Derek’s cologne enveloped your senses, pulling you in, intoxicating you as it wrapped around you.
“I’ve got it, thanks,” you responded, yet finding yourself unable to push Derek’s hand away, knowing for sure that if you as much as brushed your hand against his, you’d be a goner for sure.
“I insist,” Derek said, without further argument.
Your drink was handed to you and the moment it entered your hand, you pressed your lips to the straw, taking a drink. You needed the alcohol if you were going to deal with Derek once again and confront your lasting feelings for him once and for all. You turned to face him, your expression cold and and collected as you looked at him, trying to avoid direct eye contact.
“Thanks, but that was entirely unnecessary.”
“I think I owe you a drink, at the very least.”
“I would have settled for an apology.”
“Fine, consider it my way of apologizing,” Derek said coldly, shrugging his shoulders with indifference as he nodded his head.
“That’s a pretty piss poor excuse for an apology, but ok,” your tone was bordering on cruel as you spoke to him, it almost surprised you how non-caring you sounded.
“Look, maybe I didn’t do things right the first time,” Derek’s voice trailed off as he spoke, almost sheepish as he stopped just short of admitting guilt for how your relationship deteriorated.
“You think?”
Derek sighed as he dragged one of his hands over his face in exasperation and frustration, almost as if he was struggling to find the words to speak, and to make you understand him. He huffed as he looked down at you, shaking his head as if making a desperate attempt to formulate his thoughts before opening his mouth.
“Fine, I admit it. I fucked up. Happy?”
“Not really. That doesn’t make three years of you never really explaining why you couldn’t be bothered to give me a chance just magically go away, Derek.”
Derek furrowed his brows, shaking his head again and sighing. His hand snuck its way around to your waist, pulling you in towards him with one smooth fluid motion. Part of you wanted to push him away, humiliate him by dumping your drink over him and storm out, but the other part of you knew that you’d been craving something like this for the last three years, and you weren’t about to throw it away, especially if it was the last opportunity you might have to kiss him.
“I’m sorry,” He whispered, almost inaudibly as he breathed the words into your ear.
“That’s more like it,” You felt yourself smirking as he held you close to his body, knowing for a fact that you wanted him as badly as he wanted you and vice versa. The feel of his hand on your body made your heart race, sending shivers up your spine as he gently gripped your hip.
“You know, if you’re willing, I have three years to make up for, I think,” Derek murmured, his lips brushing against your ear in the way he always did when he was trying to be affectionate towards you.
“I think I could make room for you in my busy schedule. You’ve got a group of girls who think you’re the enemy though, Derek. You may have to charm them too,” You grinned, nodding your head towards your friends who all looked ready to get up and fight Derek until they saw the grin on your face.
“Let me make things up to you first, then you can decide if you want me to try my hand at grovelling to them too, ok?”

The First Meet
Derek Hale x Sarah McCall
Tumblr media
"You lost your inhaler, Scott?" I scoff as I trudge along the woods with him and Stiles.
"Look, I'm sorry, okay? I should never have come here." He muttered.
"Damn right, you shouldn't have!" Sarah said and rounded on Stiles, "Investigating murder is your father's job, Stiles. Not yours."
"Relax Sarah, just because we didn't take you doesn't mean you have to be so sour about it," Stiles says casually. I shake my head in dismay.
"Just find the damn inhaler and let's get out of here," I mutter, crunching dry leaves beneath my feet and looking amongst them for Scott's inhaler.
"I don't know what's happening to me, CeeCee," Scott says softly, and I look at him. "What do you mean?"
"I mean that I can smell your perfume from 20 feet away from you, and I can hear you and Stiles from 100 feet away." He explains.
I pause in my tracks and look at him. "What?"
"I swear I'm not lying. I can smell the bubblegum wrap in Stiles's pocket right now." He says. Stiles scoops it out of his pocket and throws it away.
"It was gross." Scott says and Stiles replies, "It was definitely gross."
"Since when has this been happening?" I ask. "Just this morning." Scott says, "There's a new girl in our school right now, and she was talking to someone outside the classroom, and I could hear what they were saying while sitting inside the classroom." He explains.
"Are you hallucinating, Scotty?" I ask worriedly. Dad leaving us had taken a toll on all three of us, and I don't want to see Scott trapped again in that vicious cycle.
"I'm not hallucinating." He sighs. Stiles chimes in, "I know what that means."
"What does that mean?" I ask him.
"He's caught an infection," Stiles says, "A particularly bad one. Only once a month will it trouble him though." Scott doesn't seem to understand but I do. I try my best to not laugh.
Stiles howls and Scott hits him on the arm. "Shut up dude."
After walking for a while, Scott stops both of us and says, "Wait, this is where I had seen the body."
"Well, there isn't any body over here right now," I say.
"The killer must've moved it!" Stiles says. "Well, I hope they didn't take my inhaler. That was for 80 dollars." Scott sighs.
Before I can reply, we hear a voice. "What are you doing here?"
Tumblr media
I spin around and come face to face with the handsome Derek Hale. I had been in school with him, but he only hung out with the popular and sporty kids. Since I was neither, I doubt whether he knows I existed or not.
"This is private property." He says, glaring at us. I pass him an apologetic look. "I'm sorry, we're just looking for an inhaler. My brother lost it here somewhere-"
"Here." He throws it at us, not letting me complete my sentence. I have the urge to grab the nearest stone and throw it at him, but I control myself. This is private property after all. Guess Derek didn't grow out of being a jerk, after all.
I don't thank him and look at Scott, who has caught the inhaler. "C'mon Scotty, Stiles, let's go."
"Thank you, for that," Scott says to Derek awkwardly and we start to walk away, I don't spare him a second glance.
"That was Derek Hale, right?" Stiles asks. I nod. "His family was burned alive in the Hale house fire. Stroke of luck that he survived." He says.
"I went to high school with him," I say, looking back but he's gone. "He was a jerk back then, nice to see that he hasn't grown out of that stage."
"Sarah on fire!" Stiles exclaims and laughs.
I tell them that I have the hospital to get to, and we bid each other goodbye. As I unlock the door to my car, I feel someone's presence behind me and I spin around and lose my balance.
Instead of plummeting facefirst to the ground, two strong arms stop me from falling and I find myself encased in Derek Hale's arms. He draws me to his chest and says, "Be careful, Sarah."
I push him and stand two steps away from him. "What are you doing here?" I don't take the liberty to be gentle. He needs to know that having a tragic past doesn't give him a free pass to treat other people like crap.
Tumblr media
"You dropped something back there." He says casually and draws out my golden bracelet from his pocket. It wasn't made of gold, just plated by it. It had been Mom's gift to me. I cursed myself for losing it. "I came here to return it." He says, breaking my self-cursing chain of thoughts.
"Well, thank you for that," I say and extend my arm to take it from him. My hand brushes his slightly and he gently holds my wrist and ties the bracelet around it.
I pull my hand back, trying to forget the lingering effect his touch left on me. "Thank you." I clear my throat.
"No problem," He shrugs, "Be careful, Sarah." I look at my car and when I look back, he's gone. He has super speed or what?
I try not to think about him, but I can't help but think about how his fingers had felt on my wrist. And how would his lips feel if they were at the place of his fingers?

I'm Not Afraid | Chapter 17
Tumblr media
Word Count: 3.5K
Story Description: (Y/N) Argent arrived at Beacon Hills to put to rest her father’s sister, Kate Argent. For the first time, her family has decided to settle down and sustain a life in this interesting small town. After 17 years, (Y/N) has the opportunity to establish interpersonal relationships but will she be ready to face the complications that come with relating to her cousin’s, Allison, friends; especially, the infamous Derek Hale. She will face the adventure of being associated with the Derek and McCall pack, as well as being faced with the discovery of certain aspects of her life she never imagined.
A/N: uh oh, things are changing...

There was a tense air between (Y/N) and Derek as they reached her house. He helped her off the bike and kept his hand on her lower back as they walked to her front porch but did not say a single word. His stare was a million miles away, and she could tell his thoughts had been running rampant in his head.
“Are you okay, Derek?” the girl finally broke the silence as she slid her key into the door. “You feel weird. Like, distant.”
“I’m fine,” he said, his stoic façade still plastered on his face. “I just need to make sure you’re home safe before I get my pack.”
“They’re fine. They’re hiding up in my room.” She pulled out her phone from her pocket and showed him Isaac’s text confirming that they had locked themselves in her house. “But I need to know what you’re hiding right now because I know something’s up.”
“Everything’s fine,” he huffed. “Why are they here?”
“I thought they’d be safe here,” she responded. “Don’t change the topic, Derek. You know you can’t lie to me.”
“I just… we gotta stay away from each other for a while, okay? Believe me when I say, it’s for the best.”
The answer took (Y/N) aback. She stepped away from his touch, as though suddenly it burned her. His words had seemingly come out of nowhere. They were in a good spot, she thought. They weren’t exactly in a relationship, but they weren’t not in one either. They had been speaking consistently for the past couple of weeks, they had seen each other when they could, and they had kissed. God, did they kiss. “I-I-I don’t understand,” she stammered as she blinked away her confusion. “I thought we were good. I mean, I know our situation isn’t exactly ideal, but I didn’t think it was going bad.”
“It’s just not the time to deal with feelings, (Y/N),” he sighed. “I have to focus on how to get rid of the Kanima and why Scott would betray us. I simply don’t have the bandwidth to focus on you too.”
“Oh, I didn’t know I was such a distraction,” (Y/N) scoffed, putting another step of distance between them. “You know, it was only a few weeks ago that you were saying you wanted this to work. No matter how long it took or what hurdles we had to go through. You said I wouldn’t have to go through life alone, not while you were here. Was that all just bullshit?”
“It wasn’t… It isn’t…” He ran his hands across his face in frustration, letting out an infuriated groan. “With everything that’s going on, I can’t risk being close to you, (Y/N). The more time that passes with the Kanima here, the more hunters will arrive. Especially now that I have a target on my back, thanks to your cousin. Being with you only makes that target bigger, and it puts it on my pack too. I have to make the right decision for them.”
“So, everything I’ve done to help you guys out means nothing?” she cried, biting down the tears that threatened to spill. “I’ve stuck my neck out for you on more than one occasion. I think I’ve proven to be an asset to you and your pack when it comes to my family.”
“You have and I’m grateful,” he said. Derek took a beat before continuing. It seemed he knew the next words out of his mouth would drive a wedge between them that he wasn’t sure would ever be removed. “I just don’t know if one day you’ll turn on us like Allison has done to Scott, or even like Kate did to me.”
If there was anything he could say that would drive (Y/N) away, it was that. Her fears of one day becoming like her aunt still haunted her to that day. It was a quiet but haunting rumble in the pits of her mind, fed by her insecurities and her fears, and very much alive.
“A-are you serious?” (Y/N) wanted to appear confident and confrontational. But she couldn’t help the way her voice broke. “Do you really think I’d be capable of doing something like that?”
“I can’t be sure, (Y/N). I want to believe that you won’t and that you and your father are truly on our side, but I have to take precautions. It’s not just my life that’s at stake.”
(Y/N) didn’t know if his words stung more than the unchanging expression on his face. There was no care, no compassion. She wasn’t talking to Derek, her sour wolf. She was speaking to Derek, the alpha. “What brought this on, Derek?” she asked. “What made you change your mind all of a sudden?”
“It wasn’t anything specifically. It’s just… the situation we’re in is basically unheard of, and I need to make sure that I’m putting a hundred percent of my brain into resolving this,” he said. “And if Scott isn’t going to help, then I have to find a way to end this once and for all. I can’t be worrying about the hunters coming from your side too.”
Words died in the girl’s mouth as she tried to conceal the hurt that coursed through her veins. It was a betrayal like no other. “Is that really how you feel?” (Y/N) asked, her resolve quickly coming undone. “You once told me that you knew that I would never be like Kate. That there was no way I could be that heartless. Does that mean you lied? Have you always felt this way?”
And with determination like she had never seen from him, he said, “Yes.” By then, she couldn’t hold back the tears, but she wouldn’t let him see her hurt. She couldn’t keep the drops from falling, but she could keep her sobs inside. “(Y/N)…”
“Go,” she said sternly, facing her door and giving him her back.
“(Y/N), I…”
“I said go, Derek,” she restated, raising her voice. “You can call your pack after. But you need to get out of here right now.”
Before he could say another word, (Y/N) slipped into her house and locked the door behind her. Shuddering cries threatened to break through, so she clasped her fist into her mouth and bit down. She did not want him to hear her. He’d been able to shatter her heart with a few words, but he did not deserve to know her pain. Not anymore.
As the tears fell, she remembered the cuts on her face. Every time another drop fell, it sank into the open wound, mixing blood and salty water down her cheeks. The sting was enough to subside the pain in her chest, but not enough to make it go away. And all she wanted was for it to go away.
Suddenly, soft steps on her stairs forced her head to snap forward to see a witness to her despair. Erica wore a sympathetic smile on her face, something that surprised (Y/N) out of her tears. It had been the first time she had even held a kind gaze toward the girl, always throwing sarcastic comments or unnecessary jabs her way. But at that moment, she came to her as a friend.
“Let’s fix up that face,” she said. “Where’s the first aid kit?”
“Uh, um,” (Y/N) cleared her throat. “There’s one under the kitchen sink.”
“Let’s go.”
The blonde helped her up from the ground and followed her quietly into the kitchen. She didn’t throw snarky remarks her way or make fun of the way her face was most likely a disaster. All she did was remain silent and try to help.
Once the first aid bag was on the counter, Erica patted a stool to instruct the girl to sit. Something she very much obliged to before the werewolf set to work. She put on a pair of black gloves and set to clean the wound with cleansing wipes, clearing away any debris or tear that might have mixed with her blood.
“This is gonna sting a bit, okay?” Erica announced as she uncapped the liquid stitch bottle. “Do you need something to bite down on?”
“No,” (Y/N) smiled softly. “Go ahead.”
The girl winced softly as the liquid touched her skin, but it was quickly replaced with the comfort of Erica’s soft hands pinching the slash closed. She repeated the step two more times before cleaning the area once more and covering it with a gauze bandage. “There,” Erica said as she finished bandaging her arm as well. “The wound should breathe during the night to help with the healing. Try to keep it dry or without direct water contact for about five days, and you should be good.”
“Thanks,” she said. “You’re good at this.”
“I’ve had one too many falls not to be,” the girl chuckled as she put away the kit. “It’s actually the reason I’ve always wanted to become a doctor. I wanted to make sure no one else went through what I did.”
“Why can’t you?”
“At first it was because I was so behind in school, I’d never get the grades to get into a good school,” she shrugged. “Now, with the whole werewolf thing, I don’t think I could.”
“Why not? I think now it’ll be so much easier for you,” (Y/N) offered. “Now, you don’t have to deal with the seizures, and you can focus on your schoolwork. Later on, I’m sure any school would be begging to have you go there.”
“I don’t know,” the blonde sighed. “I guess, after seeing everything I have and going through what we have in such little time, I think med school seems stupid in the grand scheme of things. I would love to live a normal life, but I don’t think I was ever meant to. I mean, at first, it was epilepsy. Now, it’s the fact that I’m part wolf, part human, and I have yet to get that under control.”
Seeing Erica be vulnerable and sweet surprised (Y/N), and it was a welcome distraction to whatever it had been that had gone down with Derek. “You know this is going to end someday,” she tried to comfort her. “We’re gonna beat the Kanima, and the hunters will go back to their own lives. Life won’t always be like this.”
“How can you be so sure? Something tells me there’s always gonna be something in this town,” she chuckled dryly. “The only way to go back to normal is to leave.”
“Is that what you want? To leave Beacon Hills?”
“I mean, it’s a plan,” she shrugged as she sat beside (Y/N). “I didn’t think it would be like this. The constant looking over my shoulder, the fear that I’ll be caught, the fear that I’ll be killed. I wanted the strength, the power that came with being supernatural. But I didn’t really measure the danger that came with it. Unfortunately, not every hunter can be like you.”
“I think that’s the first time you’ve ever complimented me,” (Y/N) chuckled. “Don’t know how I feel about it.”
“Don’t get used to it,” the girl grinned. “But seriously, you have no reason to protect us like you have. I mean, apparently, even lovesick Allison turned on lover boy.”
“Yeah, grief makes you do unthinkable things,” she sighed. “Especially when you have a monster like Gerard whispering in your ear.”
“And he doesn’t whisper in yours?”
“God no. I don’t think he particularly likes my family. At least my dad and I.”
“Ooh, family drama?”
“None that I know the details of, but I know it has something to do with me and some woman from my dad’s past,” (Y/N) explained, remembering the not-so-hushed words from her parents. “Also, my dad sort of sides with the wolves rather than the hunters. He thinks their methods are too extreme and cause more harm than good. He told me he wants to change the group from the inside out, but it’s hard.”
“And you believe him?” Erica inquired, biting the skin from her fingers. (Y/N) could see she hadn’t noticed yet. It was something she did before turning, a way to calm her senses when everything seemed too much. “Do you really believe he’s on our side?”
“He helped me find Derek tonight, and he covered for me about the rave. I don’t think he would lie to me about that. My mom on the other hand…”
“Can’t stand us?”
“Yup.”
“Well, you can tell her the feeling is mutual.”
“Hey,” (Y/N) exclaimed with a smile. “That’s my mom you’re talking about.”
“No offense,” Erica laughed as she threw her arms up in surrender. “But seriously, I don’t think I’ve ever said this, but thank you, (Y/N). I’ve unnecessarily been a bitch to you, and you don’t deserve that. So, I’m sorry.”
“Am I really getting an apology from Erica Reyes? I think I might be dreaming.”
“Oh, come on,” she chuckled. “I’m trying to be serious here—vulnerable. I am grateful for what you’ve done for me, even when I was horrible to you. You didn’t have to.”
“Well, you got the bitch part down, I didn’t think I needed it, too,” (Y/N) grinned before she took Erica’s hand and smiled warmly. “But it means a lot that you apologized. Thank you. Maybe from here on out, we could be friends. I honestly need more in this town.”
“I think that would be great,” she beamed. “I’ve been needing a dose of estrogen after so many months surrounded by testosterone.”
As the girls laughed, footsteps came down the stairs and quickly joined them in the kitchen, followed by the pitter-patter of claws against the hardwood floor. “Well, look at these two fraternizing,” Isaac told Boyd. “Never thought I’d see the day.”
“I would be rude not to when it’s her house,” Boyd shrugged. “Which, again, thank you for letting us hide out here. We haven’t really received any other instruction from Derek.”
“Yeah, and I don’t think you will anytime soon.”
“What do you…?” Isaac’s words died in his throat as he noticed (Y/N)’s bandages and the smell of iron in the air. He was quick to rush to her side, inspecting her visible skin for any other wound. “What the hell happened?”
“Ah, just a small run-in with Jackson,” she shrugged as she knelt to pet Brody, scratching him on the spot behind his ears he loved so he wouldn’t worry about her. “I’ll be fine. I just don’t heal as fast as you guys do.”
“How serious was the cut?” Isaac asked Erica, knowing (Y/N) would only wave him off. “Was it deep? I knew I should have gone with you to the station.”
“It wasn’t deep enough to need stitches, Isaac. She’ll be fine.”
“Dude, calm down,” Boyd chuckled. “She’s tougher than she looks.”
“Thank you, Boyd,” she smiled toward the boy. “I really appreciate the vote of confidence. You should learn from him, Lahey.”
“Yeah, it’s all fun and games until you get seriously hurt,” he grumbled, crossing his arms across his chest. “I can’t believe I let you go there by yourself. I should have been there.”
“And risk getting caught by my grandfather? Absolutely not,” she reprimanded. “As a matter of fact, all of you need to lay low because while Jackson is still the Kanima, more hunters will keep flooding into town, and I don’t wanna risk any of you getting caught. If you need a place to stay, I think I can talk to my dad and help you guys out. Maybe tell my mom the basement flooded and keep you guys there?”
“Thanks, (Y/N),” Boyd smiled. “We’ll talk to Derek first. See what the next steps will be.”
“Yeah,” she scoffed lightly. “And if you can find out what the hell is going on with him in the meantime, I’d greatly appreciate it.”
The four of them spent the next hour in her kitchen, talking and laughing like normal teenagers until Erica and Boyd said they were too tired to still be awake and headed to (Y/N)’s room. But not before the girl turned and thanked Argent for giving her a night where she felt normal. After that, only Isaac and her were left downstairs.
They had moved into the living room, where (Y/N) rested her head on his lap, and Brody curled up right beside them. Henry had texted her that he and her mother would be staying over at Chris’ house and that he’d keep her posted on anything that would be going down.
“I don’t understand what happened, Isaac,” she sighed as she felt his hands running through her hair. “Everything was going great until just an hour ago. What made Derek change his mind?”
“Honestly, I wish I could tell you,” he said. “But Derek’s not one to really talk about what’s going on in his head. The only time he’s ever been nice to me is when you’re around. He’s quite a dick when you’re not around.”
“But he’s still your alpha.”
“It’s not like there are many options here,” he chuckled. “And I guess I feel a bit indebted to him. If it hadn’t been for the bite, I’m pretty sure I would have ended up in the hospital, or even worse…”
Isaac couldn’t bring himself to say the words, instead taking in a shuddering deep breath. (Y/N) could see his eyes getting cloudy with tears as fear overtook him. Even if that part of his life was buried, there was no way to repress the memories.
“I’m sorry you had to go through that, Isaac,” she responded quietly, taking his free hand in hers. “And I’m sorry you had to go through it alone. I wish I could have at least been your friend back then.”
“I think you came at the perfect time,” he smiled softly. “Just long enough to get my shy and adorable side and stay to see my resurgence into an amazing and confident werewolf teenager.”
“You know, some people would say cocky and self-absorbed.”
“Well, those people would be wrong,” he chuckled. “But you did come at the right time. Those last couple of months, you actually gave me hope. If we had spent more time together, I think I may have even refused the bite.”
“Would you have, really?” (Y/N) mused. “Would you have given it all up?”
“I think so,” Isaac shrugged. “I mean, people around us don’t seem disturbed by what’s going on in this town. All I would have to worry about is whether or not I could pass my classes, and well, social services I guess.”
“Not funny,” she reprimanded, slapping him softly on the chest. “But the supernatural does suit you.”
“It does, doesn’t it?”
“Oh, calm down, Lahey.”
“I’m just kidding, Argent,” the boy laughed. “As for Derek, all you have to do is give it time. He can be a moody one.”
“Something feels different this time, though,” she sighed. “I don’t know what it is, but something’s just off.”
The last thing Derek had wanted was to make her cry. Hearing her sobs through her door made his heart wrench in his chest, and all he could do was get as far away from her as he could. His legs took off in a soft run at first but quickly turned into a supernatural sprint that had his lungs aching for air. All he could do was run.
Soon enough, the scenery of houses and cars turned into trees and bushes. Leaves crunched under his feet, and branches snapped as he stepped on them. Even when a rock stood in his way and threatened to make him lose his balance, he simply kept running.
He wished (Y/N) knew that what he did had been for her own good. If she wasn’t by his side, there was no way she could be used as a bargaining chip. Especially not with Peter back. He didn’t trust his own life in the hands of his uncle; how could he entrust him with (Y/N)’s?
By the time he had reached his family’s house, his body ached all over. Frustration filled his veins, and his limbs ached with the need for violence. He let out an exasperating scream before his fist went through a wooden board. He didn’t know if he wanted to keep breaking down the house or just sit down and cry. As much as he wanted to be by (Y/N)’s side, he knew that the best thing for her would be for him to stay as far away as possible. He had lived long enough with loneliness, though none as hurtful as this one for a long time. (Y/N) would soon enough move on from him, and he’d be the one to carry the hurt. As long as Peter was in town and her family would punish her for her affiliations, he’d just have to stay away.

Morning was slowly dawning in Beacon Hills, the sun's rays spreading across the land as a new day began. It didn't take long for sunlight to reach the loft. Light burst through the large window of the master bedroom, bathing a sleeping Derek Hale in the heat of the day. The dark-haired werewolf was still quite asleep when the light hit his closed eyes, although he stirred it a bit, he knew it was a signal to get up.
The first thing Derek would normally do when he woke up and got his bearings properly would be to turn around to look at his boyfriend, Y/n, who was still sleeping. Although, in doing so, he realized that he wasn't there. For a moment he thought he must have already gotten up to freshen up. Until he felt a familiar pressure in his stomach.
The sour wolf chuckled as his hand reached for the cover that covered it and lifted it to see the culprit. His boyfriend was there, a smile on his face as his soft, slender hands caressed his man's well-defined abs. Derek smiled back as he covered them both, letting the light hit his naked bodies. The shorter man laughed as he planted a soft kiss on he stomach. "Well, good morning to you too." Derek smiled at his boyfriend as he started to sit up, only for him to press his hand to his chest, wordlessly telling he that he wanted he to lie down for this. He which he did. Him resting on the soft mattress with his hands clasped behind his head as he watched his boyfriend move closer to his crotch.
Just as Y/n reached his destination, he looked at his stud. "Good morning, my love. Did you sleep well?" As he asked such a casual question, his delicate hand grasped Derek's ebony member, which was already swollen from a case of morning sex, but he slowly grew more erect as his boyfriend licked his tongue bare meat. Y/n stopped at the pink head of the tip, swirling he warm, wet tongue around the glans. He was pleased to learn that his work had already earned his boyfriend's complaints.
The werewolf already had a wide smile on his face, feeling his boyfriend's tongue sliding down his member was always a wonderful thing to wake up to. "I slept like a child-" he spoke after a lustful moan, his tongue still polishing his cock as he spoke. "-How could I not when you tried to drain me completely?" Derek chuckled and maintained eye contact with his boyfriend who was currently licking the drop of precum from his urethra, watching as Y/n savored the taste before kissing his glans.
"Drain you? Please." The boy rolled his eyes playfully as he gave the shaft in his hand a good grip, barely able to wrap his fingers around the pillar of werewolf flesh in his grip. Y/n wasn't a king of size, not by a long shot, but still he thanked the gods that his mistress was not only a hunk but he also had the equipment. He just couldn't help it, moving his head to his shaft to lick him. He knew his boyfriend was enjoying this, feeling it throb in he hand and against his tongue.
Oh how Derek loved how proficient his boy was with his tongue, sometimes all Y/n needed to get him off was a good tongue job. But this was not one of those days, the sour wolf rested his head on his hands, absorbing the pleasurable sensations. Y/n's tongue trailed along one of the thick veins that ran the length of his cock, dappling his flesh with little kisses until he reached the tip of it again. The boy could keep soaping his shaft, but he wanted more. And he knew Derek would want the same thing. Derek raised an eyebrow as he turned his attention back to his boyfriend, watching the boy wrap his lips around the head of his cock, causing him to let out a short moan as his tongue swirled around the sensitive foreskin of his member just before he fell take more and more of it into your mouth.
The man moaned as he placed his hands on the bed, rising to a sitting position as Y/n took more inches of his cock into his mouth and throat. "Fuck… That's it… Take it deeper." Derek encouraged him as he placed his hand on his head. For the last week, Derek has been training Y/n's throat to take his shaft completely. Not that he wasn't good at sucking him off, in fact he gave him the best blowjob he's ever had. But there is always room for improvement. And Y/n agreed, loving how he throat gaped as he took more of his man meat, though in the back of he mind he hoped it would never get better because of how much he loved the way Derek reacted to he gagging which he certainly did loved.
The wolf couldn't help it, shifting his hips a little and pushing the length of him further into his boyfriend's welcoming throat. Then Y/n of course started to gag, with Derek's hand on the back of his head, he couldn't pull away from him. And he loved it. Drooling around his cock and making a mess in his lap, he was lost in his own pleasure at the moment. While Derek made the most of it, grabbing hold of his silky-smooth hair and thrusting his hips into his mouth. "Fuck…suck that dick, honey…!" Derek moaned as his cock explored deeper into his boyfriend's throat. Pretty soon Y/n touched his thigh, as much as they both loved him he had a limit.
After a few more thrusts, Derek lifted his head, sliding his shaft out of his mouth with a groan. Y/n gasped for air and coughed a little, all with a lecherous grin on his face. "D-Derek…I love it when you force me to swallowyour dick…" He laughed as he pressed his cheek against his spit covered penis, stroking and planting small kisses on it. He didn't care if his saliva was going to stain the skin on his cheek, his morning shower would take care of that. First, he had to take care of his man. But what kind of man would Derek be if he didn't return the favor?
Next thing Y/n knew, he boyfriend was spreading he legs for him. Derek smiled at the prize of him, the narrow pink hole of him in the middle of those two globes of flesh that gleamed in the morning sunlight. Every time he faced him, he was always in awe of his beauty. Though he wasn't going to keep him waiting, Derek clung to his soft yet firm thighs as he thrust his face between his buttocks. His tongue licked slowly along that tight little hole, causing Y/n to shudder and moan in pleasure. "Oooh, Derek…" he cried out as the wolf dragged his tongue deeper into his ass, gently teasing with small movements. Y/n clung to the sheets, he was quite sensitive and he knew Derek would abuse that fact. Feeling his tongue open his hole as he explored deeper.
Derek could never get enough of he sweet nectar, lapping up as much of he flavor as he could as he pleasured him. Hearing his moans made it all the more worthwhile. Pushing his tongue in as deep as he could, he could feel the inner walls of him tighten around him. Y/n's body was writhing from the sensations he was dealing with, and he still wasn't going to give up. Pulling his tongue out of him, Derek returned to the entrance, gently wrapped his lips around the wet hole of pleasure and moved one of his hands down, thrusting two fingers inside him. His boy pussy clenched around his digits and shuddered as he sucked on it. He knew all the right buttons to push.
"Derek! Please…! F-Fuck me, fuck me!" Y/n begged to get out. With he boyfriend sticking he fingers inside him, he was already on the brink of climaxing. Derek knew it, he could feel it. And as much as he begged he to pummel him to satisfaction, he wanted him to come first. The thrust of his fingers quickened the pace as he licked what he could of he anus. His boyfriend loved every second of it, his body still squirming as he felt the pressure building inside him. He continued to cry out in pleasure, holding on long enough until his orgasm hit him. His hips shot up and his body convulsed as his cock came unstimulated, staining the sheets with his seed. The boy moaned his boyfriend's name as he climaxed.
Like a good boyfriend, Derek made sure to clean up his mess. Licking up the sweet juices that leaked from his cock, pulling his fingers out of his love channel and licking them back. He smiled as he looked at his boyfriend, still recovering from his orgasm. He was beautiful, watching his chest rise and fall as he caught his breath, the pretty smile on his face… The perfect opportunity to tease him. The werewolf dropped to his knees, positioning himself between his legs, grabbing the throbbing length of him and dropping directly onto Y/n's now lubricated hole. He looked at his loved, then at the hunk of stud meat ready to rearrange his entrails. "Do it. Fuck me." He smiled at he, biting his lower lip.
Derek didn't need to be told twice, he just chuckled as he moved his shaft into his position. Grinding his member against his drenched entrance just before pushing the tip of his glans against his hole. He looked at Y/n, seeing that needy look plastered on his face. With a powerful thrust, his cock pushed past his resistance, into the warmth of his channel. The pair groaned as Derek leaned closer to his body, letting Y/n wrap his legs around his waist. They gazed longingly into each other's eyes, seeing the love for each other. They both leaned in for a passionate kiss as Derek's hips went to work. Pumping his cock deep into he boy pussy, making his boyfriend moan at the kiss they shared.
They soon broke the kiss and the wolf groaned, each time he thrust his hips back, the paw lock of his boyfriend forced them down. His thrusts were fast and powerful, slamming his hips against his and he heavy seed sac slamming into his rear. His legs tightened around him as he groaned, tightening he inner walls around him to milk him for all he was worth. The sound of their bodies meeting filled the air, the only thing louder being Y/n's cries of lust as he clawed at Derek's back. He growled at the feel of his nails digging into his back, but that didn't stop him, the wolf endured, pounding into his tight hole.
Y/n could feel every inch of his wolf's shaft caressing his insides, from the width of the crown to the base of the mast. He loved how full he felt, and he could feel a second orgasm creeping up on him. "Fuck! Don't stop, don't duck!" He cried out as Derek quickened the pace of his thrusts, he knew he was going to walk strangely after this. Although it was all worth it. "Y-yes, yes!" His voice and his body trembled, holding Derek close to his body as he moaned. Derek moaned over he cries of love, feeling the pressure building in his own kidneys.
The wolf looked at his boy, growling as his hips kept up. "Almost… There, honey…" she warned him, as if he cared. Each stroke of his cock brought them both closer to his tipping points, the head of his cock alight as he kissed the inside of him. Even as he tightened around him, he just pushed through. "I'll fill you up!" Derek groaned as he gave he everything he had. Without warning he felt it tighten around his shaft a clear sign he was cumming, Y/n screeched as he came with his body convulsing once more releasing a second load of his seed that morning. That was his signal to finally let go. His last thrusts pushed him to the edge, Derek groaning as he came. Rope after rope of his seed painted inside him, as they both mounted their climaxes, Derek kissed his boyfriend's cheek before slowly releasing his cock from his well-used hole. He rolled onto his side and snuggled up to Y/n as they basked in the afterglow. "Fuck… I love you, Y/n…"
Once Y/n finally sorted out his thoughts, he wrapped his arms around Derek, letting a small giggle escape his lips. "I love you too, Derek… But we really need that shower right now." The couple laughed together as they hugged. His shower could wait.

Derek was surprised, to say the least when you told him you were going out for some drinks with Malia, for many reasons but the biggest was the fact that he knew without a doubt that you were a lightweight and in comparison to Malia who quite literally couldn't get drunk, he knew the night wouldn't be ending all that well for you. So, when Malia called saying you refused to let her drive you to her place because you insisted that Derek pick you up, he wasn't surprised and didn't waste much time driving over to the bar to get you.
He heard Malia lovingly reprimanding you before he even turned the corner to see you sat on the curb, twiddling your feet to the beat of the music streaming out from the bar, looking a lovely mess as you hummed along. He couldn't help a small grin at the sight of you, already expecting a rough ride home when you jumped up and stumbled, caught by a very frustrated yet not any less caring Malia who was just as happy as you were when he stopped in front of you.
"Bear," you cooed, excitement earning a little hiccup from you as you reached for him, his arms ready to catch you as you hugged him, hands snaking around his torso as you brushed your face up and down his shirt, unintentionally mimicking a cat, delighted by the fact that he came.
"Hi, honey," he purred right back, a warm hand resting on your lower back as he shook his head, knowing the use of the pet name would keep your dazed mind busy long enough for him to turn his attention to his cousin watching the whole scene play out. "You were supposed to watch her," he reminded her and looked down at you, eyes fighting to stay open as you brought a hand up to fiddle with the zipper of his jacket. "How much did she have to drink?"
"Not enough to have her this drunk," Malia argued and she was right, you'd have defended her if you were more yourself, you truly only had a few cocktails, maybe a few more than you should've but definitely not enough to have you pushing a little past tipsy. "She only had a few of those sweet drinks, she clearly just can't hold her liquor."
"Okay, thank you for calling me and for staying with her, I'll take her to my place," you were happy with that, looking up at him with big eyes and your chin on his shirt as he brushed some smudged mascara from the side of your eye. "You like the sound of that?" he teased and when your smile grew he simply had to kiss your nose, it's boyfriend taxes for having to witness such cuteness without warning.
"Is Eli home?" now, were you sober that question would not have made you excited, were you sober you'd have been completely terrified to officially meet Eli for the first time in this state. You'd heard all about him and him about you, greeted each other over voice notes, or waved at him over facetime before he headed to school, but never the big deal first meeting.
"He is," you gasped, and pulled away, wiping at your face, then softer than a second ago you brought a hand up to wipe at his as well, fixing his beard and nodding when you approved of your work.
"Now we look pretty," you explained and turned to Malia who had assumed you'd forgotten that she was there, to begin with. "Do you want to come to meet Eli too?"
"I think we've had enough Malia time tonight, don't you?" Derek was already searching for his keys in his pocket, a little nod telling Malia that he owes her for looking out for you, the girl giving you a quick side-hug and pretending to ignore you very loudly saying goodbye to her.
It was a mission getting you into the car, you insisted on walking yourself and failing horribly at the act, you'd never really mastered walking in heels sober let alone a little drunk but Derek humored you. However, when you were trying to buckle yourself in with shaky hands and pouted lips he decided to step in.
"You all settled in?" he asked, looking around to make sure you were comfortable, a stray jacket he'd left in the car already propped behind your head and legs folded rather uncomfortably under you.
"Almost," you breathed and he raised a brow at you, curious about what you needed, trying to think of something to use in case you were feeling sick but you simply pouted your lips more, lifting a red-painted finger to point at your lips. "A kiss," you demanded and he would be cruel to make you wait, he wanted to cave instantly, but of course, he didn't.
"You want a kiss?" his hand was still on your stomach from where he held you back to buckle you up and he was happy for that because it gave you an excuse to touch him, both hands gripping his as you nodded. "Alright, since you asked so nicely," and he didn't make you wait any longer, brushing a quick kiss onto your impatient lips.
"Okay, now you can take me home," he laughed lightly at that, squeezing your hand before closing the door and walking around to the other side of the car. You took hold of Derek's hand again as soon as the car started, twisting yourself so you could watch him, the smile not leaving your lips as he drove, not even when you started falling asleep.
Derek carried you into the house, trying to be quiet in the living room but it wasn't much use when he bumped a lamp with your legs, cursing under his breath when the light in the hallway turned on a few seconds later, a tired and confused Eli stumbling into the room.
"Dad?" he was barely awake, looking around for context clues until his eyes landed on you, fast asleep in his dad's arms, snoring lightly and Derek quickly reminded the boy to be quiet. "Is that Y/n?" he asked, much softer this time, with many more questions on the tip of his tongue after his dad nodded. "Is she okay?"
"She's fine, I'm going to get her into bed and then I'll explain," and that's what he did, cooing softly when you moved around after he tucked you in, mumbling incoherently but cuddling further into his pillow, entirely unphased by your surroundings now that you were surrounded entirely by his scent.
"You have a girl in your bed," Eli noted from behind the kitchen counter, a smirk on his face as he took a long sip from his glass, the now empty jug of orange juice standing next to his fisted hand.
"I've never done that before," Derek replied, looking back to make sure he closed the door before joining his son in the kitchen. "I didn't want it to happen like this, I know she didn't either. We had a plan and I was supposed to talk to you about it first."
"It's fine, dad," he sighed, and Derek was surprised to see the smile on his lips, the boy looking rather smug from where he stood. "It's not like it's just some girl, it's Y/n," he stated very lightly, and he'd never say it out loud, but it was annoyingly obvious how much happier his dad was since meeting you and it was even more obvious how much he cared for you. "Your Y/n," he added and Derek wasn't sure his heart could be filled with so much pride because of such a simple sentence but he was wrong, very wrong.
"You'll love her," Derek beamed, in thought really, trying to figure out how to make the next morning as perfect as possible, for you and for Eli. "She's so special, Eli, you'll love her."
"I'm sure I will," he agreed and they shared a light laugh, them having a heart-to-heart was a foreign concept in the Hale house, foreign but entirely welcome. "So should I bring up her being drunk at breakfast?"
"Not if you enjoy living," and Eli knew the man was not kidding.

Protectors: Night school
*warnings- slight gore, violence, mild cursing, angst/fear*
Last chapter - next chapter
Tumblr media
y/n woke up to the sound of her phone dinging, she'd got a message. she looked at her phone, wincing at the bright screen. she saw that the message was from stiles, it read
"meet us at the school ASAP! its important"
The girl let out a loud groan in annoyance, just wondering what the two pesky teenagers have been up to now.
—————
Y/n pulled into the parking lot, looking around in confusion as she saw Scott and stiles standing at the trunk of the Jeep and Derek's car pulling in as well. She parked and got out standing in between the three.
"Where's my boss?" Scott asked derek, making y/n quickly turn her head towards derek in confusion "why would he know?" She asked. Derek sighed "hes in the back" he said avoiding looking at y/ns face that had now dropped and was replaced with a piercing glare. "You better not be talking about-" she cut herself off walking to Derek's car along with Scott and stiles "he looks comfortable" stiles comments sarcastically. Her eyes widened "Derek! What the hell?! Why is he taped up!?" Y/n shouted. Stiles placed a hand on her shoulder averting her attention to him "Y/n just calm down. We have a plan." He comforts, y/n shook her head in confusion "a plan- what the hell is going on?" She shouted, Scott and stiles sighed and began walking away, silently settling that this was between the couple, shit caught Derek's attention "wait, hey. What are you doing?" He asked the departing teens. Scott turned around "you said I was linked with the alpha. I'm gonna see if your right" he said before walking away.
Y/n fully turned her attention to Derek. "Care to explain?" She asked in a cold tone. Derek sighed ,"I think he's the alpha." He said, "you think- don't you think I would've noticed?"  y/n hissed at him. "He could've masked his scent you know this babe" he said in a calm tone as to not upset y/n any more. "No don't 'babe' me right now, I would know if he was the alpha." Y/n said, stunning Derek into a silence, which was quickly interrupted by an "howl" that sounded fairly close to nails on a chalkboard. Y/n grimaced "oh god" she muttered as she waited for the awful noise to subside. "They're gonna get us killed." Derek muttered disappointed. "Tell me about it" she replied turning towards the school. Not even thirty seconds later another howl ripped through the air, this time around it was much deeper and guttural. Y/n made a subtle 'fair' face but Darek just sighed and rolled his eyes.
As the two teenagers walked out of the school and back to where the two adults were standing. "I'm gonna kill both of you" Derek shouted pointing between the two teens. "What the hell were you thinking, are you trying to attract the entire state to the school?" Y/n spoke up, standing beside Derek. Scott looked from Derek to y/n to stiles "sorry I didn't know it would be that loud." He said with a small smile. "Yeah it was loud. And it was awesome" stiles said singing the last part. "Shut up" Derek said, making y/n lightly elbow him. "Don't be such a sourwolf" stiles retorted. Immediately after the comment the hairs on the back of y/ns neck began to stand and she got a sinking feeling in her gut that they were being watched. "What'd you do with him?" Scott asked Derek. "What?" Derek asked before both he and y/n turned towards the car in confusion, seeing the car door open and Alan nowhere to be seen. "I didn't do anything" Derek defended himself, y/n just looked around in confusion. Could Alan be the alpha without her knowing? All of a sudden Derek was being lifted into the air with blood pouring out if his mouth. "Derek!" Y/n screamed voice laced with pain as she watched blood leak from the love of her life’s mouth while the life slowly left his body and then thrown as alpha growled. Scott and stiles both dragged y/n towards the school.
———————-
Three pair of feet stomped against the floor, they had just witnessed the death of the school janitor and were not more afraid than before.
they came across an exit to the school, Scott and stiles both rammed into the door but it didn't open, "its a dumpster" scott said as he peeked through the crack of the door. "Damn it, he pushed it in front of the door to block us in" y/n said putting her hands on her hips in thought. Stiles, now more manic than ever began ramming the door, requesting the help of y/n and Scott. Scott had to physically drag him away from the door yelling for him to stop as he did so. The two quickly walked past y/n and she was quick to follow. "I'm not dying here. I'm not dying in a school." Stiles stated looking as devastated as he sounded. "Were not going to die" Scott said, ever the enthusiast. "God what is he doing, what does he want?" Stiles asked freaking out. "Me" Scott said. "The alpha's the one who bit him, he wants his beta" y/n explained. "Derek says he's stronger with a pack" he said further. " Great a psychotic Wherewolf that's into teamwork that's... that's Beautiful". Y/n loooked out the window and her heart dropped, the alpha was staring right back at her from the roof of the other side of the building. She patted the boys shoulders and pointed toward the red glowing eyes. The three quickly started running careful not to stumble over each other as the alpha charged towards them and busted through a window.
Scott grabs y/n and stiles and pushes them through a door to the stairway and down a flight of stairs. They ended up in the boiler room, and hid behind a row of lockers as the alpha stalked around growling. As the alpha turned a corner leading away from where they were y/n led the two the opposite way down a different corridor. "We have to do something" stiles said. "Yeah? like what?" Y/n replied “i dunno. Kill it, hurt it, inflict mental anguish on it something” stiles suggested. Y/n could easily do the last part but it wouldn’t work out in their favor, which she was gonna announce but before she could, she heard glass shattering, and a growl. They all watched, waiting for something to happen, but nothing did so, y/n quietly dug in her pocket and picked out her keys as she shushed Scott and stiles who had began protesting. She threw the keys into a room, and Alpha quickly followed. She immediately shut the door yelling for Scott to Push the table in front. The three watched as the alpha pushed against the door but the table wasn’t budging . “ no way that actually worked.” Y/n said letting out a relived breath. so." Scott said nodding. Stiles motions Scott to climb over the desk but Scott hesitated as a loud breath came from the room.
Eventually, Scott awkwardly slides over the desk as the Alpha's slams against the wired window of the door immediately sending the three of them flinching back. Scott and y/n began to walk away but Stiles started walking closer to the room containing the beast. “What the hell are you doing?” Y/n hissed. “I just wanna get a look at it” stiles defended. Y/n quickly turned her head sighing, a habit shed picked up from Derek. “Are you crazy?” Scott asked looking at him as if he was. “Look it’s trapped, okay? It’s not gonna get out” Stiles said. “No but it might get you in.” Y/n hissed, as stiles not at all cautiously jumped on the table and crawled to the window. “Yeah that’s right we got you-“ “shut up” Scott cut stiles off. “No im not scared of this thi-“ he said before the alpha slammed his clawed hand against the window causing stiles to fall of backwards. Y/n walked over to him and leaned down “not scared huh?” She teased, receiving a death glare from the teen. Stiles stood again confidently "I'm not scared of you. Because you're not going any-" before he could finish his sentence the Alpha leaps up right into the ceiling. They gaze up in horror as the ceiling panels above them start bending and falling under the weight of the animal. No longer trapped. They run to make their escape before the alpha had the chance to fall through.

Y/ns heart dropped and turned to Scott “did you hear that?” He asked, she nods immediately. “Why is she here!?” She whisper shouted. “Who!?” Stiles asked. “Allison”.
Y/n turned to stiles, “give me your phone.” She demanded, he frowned “where’s yours?” He asked taking his phone out of his pocket and handing it to her. “I left it in my car” she answered as she looked for allisons contact
(The phone call)

Y/n: where are you right now?
A: on the first floor
Y/n: where on the first floor?
A: the swimming pools
y/n: meet us at the lobby. Go now.
A: okay, okay, im coming
(End phone call)

As the three entered the lobby Scott immediately questioned Allison “ what are you doing here? Why did you come?” He interrogated. “ because you asked me to.” she answered. “ I asked you to?” Scott repeated confused, Allison opened her phone and showed a message from Scott that read ‘meet me at the school. URGENT - Scott. “ Why do I get the feeling you didn’t send this message?” She asked warily. “ Because I didn’t.” Scott said. “ wait how did you get here?” Y/n asked stepping toward the girl. “Jackson drove me.” She replied. Y/n groaned “Jackson’s here too?” Scott whined “and Lydia, what’s going on who sent this text?” Allison questioned, beginning to feel what the other three had felt the entire night. Allison’s phone rang, “where are you?” She answered, just before Lydia and Jackson walked into the lobby. “Finally, can we go?” Lydia said. Before anyone could reply a faint ‘boom’ was heard from upstairs, it was loud enough for the non supernaturals to hear. “Run” Scott demanded to the new additions of the group. Y/n had decided enough was enough. She was tired of running, deciding not to say anything as she stayed behind and shifted into her wolf form almost matching the height of the alpha as he fell through the ceiling. She quickly ran and tackled him catching him off guard snarling as she clawed and bit at all of the sensitive areas she knew of. She had hoped she could weaken him down enough to where she could place a weakening spell on him. They hit back and forth at each other nut the alpha gained the upper hand and harshly threw y/n at the wall causing her to let out a pained bark as she shifted back to human. Her vision had gone in and out but it was enough to see the alpha come stand above her looking her in the eyes, shed seen some familiarity but brushed it off as her hazy state. Using the last of her energy shed mustered up all the magic she could and placed her hand to the forehead of the alpha, her magic worked quickly and efficiently as she could see the beast weakening, she smiled but she didn’t get to live in her glory because the alpha swung his hand at her head causing it to hit the hard concreted wall behind her and knocking her out cold.
———
Y/n woke up to a loud howl rippling through the air and shaking the entire building. This immediately set off alarms in y/ns head knowing scott was the beta of that alpha and y/n could feel the command of death in the air. She groggily stood, listening carefully for one or more raised heartbeats. It hadn’t take her long to locate it, she slowly followed it up the stairs and through the corridors, readying herself for any kind of surprise attack. Luckily instead shed heard the noise of sirens. At that moment she let out of breath, she felt like she was holding the whole night. Never had she been so happy to hear a police siren. Felling happy that the place were there y/n decided to make a stealth the exit and scope the outside of the school for the alpha, and hopefully Derek.
————
y/n sat on her and Derek’s shared bed in complete despair, she was actually able to mourn now. At the potential loss of Denton and Derek. The alpha had taken both the dead bodies, shed hoped somehow Derek would find his way back like he always does, but like each time something like this happens the had less hope than the last time. Surely their luck had to run out sometime, right?

(2,306 words) Ahhh the end of another chapter… honestly i would have updated this way sooner but i hated this episode of teen wolf and was really about to skip it but i couldn’t. It was just so hard to write a character in, and i wanted her to have her little bad ass moment like- ugh anyway. Next chapter will be out way sooner than this one. Also i hate inserting images but this is what y/ns wolf form looks like keep in mind that her kind of wolf is like a semi shift like Scott and earlier season Derek and then this which is a full shift which is what she did in this chapter.
