#deserved better :(

馃馃槰 -@itachi-uchiha-deserved-better (maybe a child Itachi during a thunderstorm?)
(Awwwe, I love that :D)聽 @itachi-uchiha-deserved-better
It had been rainign cats and dogs for the last 3 days, so Itachi and Kagami had been stuck with having to do something productive inside the house. Surely they could also train in the rain but Kagami would love to avoid getting the boy sick, even more so since Fugaku sent him to Kagami while he and Mikoto were gone. He promised the young Uchiha safety and comfort while he was with him, because he had noticed that Itachi鈥檚 behaviour often seemed a bit off for his age.聽
Behaviours that couldn鈥檛 just simply be explained with him geing a genius and too smart for his own good.. Those are things that don鈥檛 dampen down a child鈥檚 happiness like that. Itachi also had been rather confused by Kagami not being up at 4 in the morning to usher him outside for training... That was even more sign for him to just let him be... a child while he was here.聽
So when in the middle of the night Itachi came back into the living room because he felt uneasy, all Kagami did was offering him a smile and to sit down next to him. "Of course you can, Itachi. Is there something bothering you?" And before he could even answer, a lightning struck down close to the house, followed closely by an almost deafening thunder. He was surprised that Itachi had grabbed his hand so tightly, trembling lightly as he processed what had happened outside. He couldn't even tell how much that tugged at his heartstrings, so he freed his hand from the grip of Itachis fingers to wrap an arm around him, offering shelter to him by lightly pressing him against his side.
"Thunderstorms are pretty scary, hm? But don't worry, I am here and there won't be anything happening to you. If it makes you feel safer I can also get your Futon over here so you aren't alone while you sleep. How dows that sound?" Keeping his tone gentle, there was also something incredibly soothing to his voice. At least he hoped it would do so.

The moment she knew
Lily was terrified. The moment she reached the safety of the room realisation of what had just occurred hit her, overwhelming every bit of her body. She crawled under her bed and curled up there, using the dark space to clarify her thoughts.
Snape had betrayed her. He had called her a mudblood, insulted her very existence, sided with her oppressors.
What hurt the most was that she should have seen it coming. The way Severus acted at school, trying to impress his Slytherin friends, she should have seen it. But she didn't want to.
How could she? He had been her first friend in the Wizarding world. He had stuck by her when Petunia didn't, when her own sister made her feel insane.
What have you done, Severus? He'd chosen a path filled with darkness, and after today there was no turning back.
Lily felt more alone than ever before - her best friend was now her enemy, Potter was being arrogant and rubbing it in, and worst of all she'd pushed away everyone in her house while defending Snape.
As she lay in the small space, she became scared to leave. Everyone in Hogwarts would know now - they'd laugh at her, say 'I told you so', maybe they'd even side with Snape in calling her a mudblood.
The door to the dormitory opened, and footsteps signalled the arival of one of her roommates.
'Lils? James told me what happened, I'm so sorry. I just... I just wanted to let you know that I'm here. You know, if you wanted to talk or... stuff.' The voice belonged to Marlene, a fellow Gryffindor that Lily hadn't spoken to much despite them sharing a room. Lily had spent so much time with Snape she'd never made an effort to get to know her roommates.
Lily didn't respond, hoping that the girl would leave her alone, let her wallow in peace. After a few moments of quiet Lily heard movement and thought that perhaps Marlene had decided to go.
Then she heard the sound of someone lying down, and saw a hand reach into the dark towards her. She hesitated for a moment before tentatively grabbing it. The grip on her hand tightened, a sign of reassurance, and Lily finally let herself cry.
She wasn't alone.

Me: I think You're confusing Snape with someone else.

i'm really sad we didn't get to see more of steve as an artist. they could have really shown how he was feeling and what was going on with him through his drawings, they could have put some symbolism in the drawings and let us interpret them and we would have known more about steve. we, the audience, want to see more of who steve is. not captain america but steve, the little guy from brooklyn.

What do you think was the basis of Mai & Ty Lee's friendship with Azula? What interests and/or hobbies did they share? What was their time in the academy like? Did they do combat training together? What do you think Iroh, Ozai, and Ursa though about their relationship? What do you think Zuko/The Gaang think about Mai and Ty Lee betraying Azula to essentially help them and later support Zuko's regime? And do you think Mai, Ty Lee, and Azula can be friends again? What about the comic portrayal?
Mai's friendship - I think Mai was bored and Azula offered her something other than sitting around looking good and supporting her father's political position. I think her parents welcomed it because it put them closer to power (Ozai). No clue about interests. Aside from history and combat I don't know that Azula was given much opportunity to develop interests and hobbies, so not at all sure what they shared in common. Most likely there was some combat training in school, and Azula learned at home as well. I kind of see Ozai making sure she trained regularly and frequently. I think Azula could also chi block and handle knives, it makes sense that she would want to make sure she could do what the other two did. I don't think Iroh, Ozai, or Ursa really cared about who Azula played with. Ozai would be happy enough if his daughter was best and her companions were loyal subjects good at fighting, able to hone her talents. But none of the above really saw Azula as a human being. Iroh saw Azula as a competitor to Zuko, Ozai saw Azula as a weapon, Ursa saw her if not as a monster as being wrong or corrupted. Gaang was happy enough to deny past history and let Mai and Ty Lee into their circle. I think it is possible for Ty Lee to become friends with Azula again, but both need to talk about their hurts, because both were hurt. And they have to be honest with each other, so Ty Lee can't pull the "I was innocent" but admit she kind of had fun putting down armies. That Azula wasn't using her like a puppet. Azula has to admit to that forcing Ty Lee to come with her wasn't good. Mai I don't know. She would have to admit that she also played a role in the whole war, that Azula wasn't a monster who pulled her around. She was pretty willing. But that might not feel good to her. The comics are abysmal. That's kind of been my take for a long time.

I guess spending a year plus in a straightjacket while constantly getting chi-blocked allows one to become the GOAT firebender/lighting bender (outside of maybe that guy in the Kyoshi Novels) and the best H2H fighter in all of ATLA. Why train or undergo spritual enlightment when you can go to asylum and become stronger than you have ever dreamed of becoming?
Kind of dumb really, but I think my views on the comics are pretty clear. They are abysmal, lacking in logic, and quality writing.

I am weird to be upset with the tendency of Azula redemption fics to hand-wave away Ty Lee's and Mai's anger/hurt at Azula? Especially considering she threw them in jail for life and it was mostly Azula's fault they were in the position they were in The Boiling Rock in the first place? For all the faults of the comics, the one of the few things they did right was depicting Ty Lee's and Mai's hatred, fear and disavowment of Azula and I wish more fanfics showed that. Though with way less ableism.
I don't think that Ty Lee and Mai's hurt/anger should be flicked away, but neither do I think Azula's hurt/anger should be flicked away. And yes, she through them into jail for life. She could have had them slowly lowered into the boiling sea, or killed outright. They literally just attacked her, which is treason. Treason isn't something one says "Hey, that's okay, I get it." I also think it diminishes Ty Lee and Mai's guilt in going along with Azula. They were tremendously afraid of Azula, and that was shown a few times. Especially Mai. She showed little fear of Azula. But having everyone just cuddle without any discussion or release of emotions, not good.

Trigger warning: I read Jail Broken: A Tyzula Deconstruction after seeing your ask and yikes, it is as ugly as you say it. On a related note, why do you think people want to put Azula in her "place" when she has already basically lost everyone and everything she already cared about and the main characters in Avatar, and the Avatar series in general, explicitly are against revenge since they know revenge does not count as justice?
People enjoying hurting someone and with Azula they can sort of get away with it. Not only because she is fictional, but because she is the "villain". Also, some people lack imagination and can't conceive of someone changing and growing, becoming good, unless they "pay" for all their crimes by suffering. Why Zuko or Iroh, Mai and Ty Lee don't need to do this is another question.

How do you think The Search would have gone if Suki, Mai, and Ty Lee joined the rest of the group?
See, I don't really care who joined The Search it was idiotic to take a severely mentally ill young girl who had been locked up for over a year, and has mother issues, who is still powerful, on a mission to find her mother. They shouldn't have gone that way. They shouldn't have been unprepared. They had little provisions, only Sokka and Katara thought to bring sleeping bags, no information on how Azula could be supported. Probably not much more different than what happened as it was.

I never understood why Azula is the only one supposedly 'evil' for supporting the war when the entire country was like that. Like all the generals clapped at Ozai's plan not to mention all the soldiers in the airships who were going to burn down the Earth kingdom. There was even a joke intended to humanize them but somehow the 14 year old is the only pure evil one. The entire Fire nation supported and worshipped Ozai and the war so why the heck is Azula the only one gettting bashed??
Because, who knows? They wanted a balance I suppose between good guys and bad guys, and wanted the bad guy to be the same age as the good guys, more or less. Also, I do think it was a personal in some ways on the part of Bryke, that they were dealing with someone, a female, close to them that annoyed them, or angered them, or whatever, and this was their way of getting revenge.

What do you think about avatarfandompolice's comics!Azula analysis or more specifically post number: 177313630077? It seems like a pretty good rebutal to the Azula discourse that has been going on this past week or so.
No clue, I haven't read it and I don't follow them. I have found them nasty in the past, mocking of people, and unwilling to have a serious discourse. They seem more inclined to simply defend the comics and series, rather than to discuss flaws and issues.

currently thinking about how, rex was like a brother to anakin and ahsoka, and the 501st were so happy she was back they painted their helmets like her. cody and obiwan were like best friends, bly and aayla were so close and plo koon basically treated wolffe like his own son and the 104th called their ship 鈥減lo鈥檚 bros鈥. like against everything the jedi and clones formed such close relationships like their own little families and then...
