I currently don't have a design for William in my game/movie au, so I think I would be funny if I just used his cannon design in the games.
Like, the scene where the gang confronts William and he takes off the head and it's just

A comic based on @theminecraftbee ‘s persona and smallishbeans and hermitcraft mashup AU, specifically Joel and Etho’s first meeting and the start of the Lovers confidant. Incredible AU btw, joel is the least and most Persona Protagonist
Some design notes under cut:
first of all i got like, really tired halfway through this so its got some errors and lacks a lot of polish, sorry.
anyway, here are the character design sketches. I gave the uniforms a slight nautical vibe with the shorter jacket and sailor collar, to fit whatever Hermitcraft X has got going on with the ocean. Also Etho is very pretty, but neither he nor joel realize or understand this.

MASSIVE TOTK STORY SPOILERS
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Made some quickly colored sketches based on my thoughts and playthrough of totk now that I've reached the end of the main story (in 65 hours over 10 days...)
Explaining in order of appearance and also delivering thoughts opinions and spoilers on most things:
So since Sonia gets got and Rauru self sacrifices, and also Zelda shares a blood connection with them, they had to have had kids by the time Zelda got there. And I imagine she spent alot of time with them, since so much happens in those memories, so I like to think the kids and her got along. And I also image that these kids gotta look wild based on being half Zonia half Hylian. Wild looking halfling children left orphaned by Ganondorf.
Zelda gets saved from dragon form at the end, hoorah, however I think she should have kept some of the more dragon like features. I swear I'm not a furry but I just really like funky character designs. Something something how its become part of her something something I need lore videos on it immediately. Also a little Link mashup outfit (my favorite so far, pairing a horn with normal clothing)
So the sage avatars are like physical beings, hence why enemies can shoot at them and why they vanish when in villages in order to not scare people ig. Which to me implies that when you complete a sage dungeon with other sage avatars out, that actual sage can see them. While this has plentiful comedic potential, I do think Riju would be the only one to actually question it though. Also, I call the avatars "my shadow clone goons" or just goons for short, since they do like all my fighting for me. I sit back and block and they do all the work. Extra shout out to Tulin, I think he's killed more dungeon bosses than I have. I didn't wanna spoil Mineru to people so I just collectively call them my Goon Squad.
I thought it was really sweet how Zelda seems to have gotten a chance at having caring parental figures in Sonia and Rauru. I also think it's funny that the closest equivalent that I think Link has is in Purah. Who, when I got all the memories (and thus knew of the imposter and the fate of Zelda) and got the master sword, Link just straight up didn't share any of this until AFTER he got Mineru. Like. Buddy. All these people are worried about Zelda but you SAW THE MEMORY of Ganondorf using a puppet Zelda, and the memory of Zelda becoming a dragon. Like. He just chooses to keep those to himself until someone else brings it up. Straight up iconic. You keep all your secrets to yourself, little man. But it's funny how Purah literally had a line like "You knew all of this?! When were you gonna tell me?!" Lol
I have a lot of thoughts on this game, both good and bad, about the story, lore, mechanics, ect that I may make a post about eventually. However I do know that I'll probably make art of like every single new character eventually bc I dearly love them all (I especially think Yona has a cute design)! Anyways slay fun game I love it I shall continue to play 9/10

Heavy Lies the Crown: Rhysand, greatness, and the pressures of power
Or: the librarian’s daughter, former playwright, licensed counselor mashup of my nightmares dreams because I am vast, I contain multitudes.
No content warnings and no real HOFAS spoilers, I don't think, other than that he's in it but I feel like you know that by now. Spoilers for Breaking Bad (lol).
---
In working on my current fic (on ao3 here!) I've been thinking a lot about Rhysand and how he really goes off the rails in ACOSF and HOFAS. It's easy to chalk it up to poor writing, but I like the challenge of trying to make it make sense. What are Rhys’ motivations, truly? What would explain the vast array of heinous shit he does the text tells us is justified?
Rhys is shown over and over to be quite Machiavellian ('ends justify the means' dude, who was maybe writing satire). It's easy to list the times he shows this. The 50 year Velaris hostage situation. The bargain UTM with Feyre. The Weaver's cottage. Stealing the Book from Tarquin. CLARE BEDDOR. Infiltrating people's minds. Torture. Assassination. Allying with Kier. Concealing his wife's medical information. Being an ass to people in general. According to Mr. Machiavelli, any action is warranted if it the goal it achieves is morally important enough.
It seems like Rhys can justify anything to himself if he believes it will serve the greatest good at the end of the day. He does so many things with the air of “it’s for your own good” or “you’ll understand why one day” but that day never.. comes? Not yet anyway, which begs the question: is he that unself-aware, or is there a longer game he’s playing that all of these minor skirmishes are leading up to? What if he knows what's coming? And what kind of cause or threat would feel so great he could justify everything he does up to this point?
Okay I'm gonna talk about Aristotelean literary structure, please don't leave me.
The idea of a tragic hero is a character whose downfall is inevitable but who fights against it anyway. Hamlet is a classic example of a tragic hero, Oedipus being the de facto first, Walter White from Breaking Bad a more modern version. We see Walt learn he’s going to die in the first episode, in the middle he does a bunch of stuff to prevent his physical death (cancer) and metaphorical death (failure/obscurity), and then both his body and reputation die in the last episode as a direct result of his attempts to avoid fate. It’s blissful Aristotelean symmetry. *chef’s kiss*
Every tragic hero has hamartia, more commonly known as a ‘fatal flaw’. In Hamlet, his fatal flaw is procrastination, and his delays create space for all kinds of the fuck shit he was trying to prevent. It’s important to note that hamartia is by design a neutral term - not so much a flaw, but a trait, motivation, or decision that sets off the chain of events the character is trying to avoid. Tragedies have occurred equally from too much love as too much hate, and doing nothing is just as much a decision as doing something. The word itself comes from the Greek for ‘to miss the mark’. To try and fail, the backbone of tragedy.
One of the most common hamartia is hubris, a modern synonym for arrogance but which more specifically means an outsized belief in one’s ability to affect and control the future. Well-known tragic heroes taken down by hubris include our boy Walter White, Tony Soprano, Viktor Frankenstein, Achilles, Jay Gatsby, Kendall from Succession. It exists in real life, too: Lance Armstrong is a perfect example of a modern tragic hero brought down by hubris. And what do all these men have in common? Power, via money, fame, strength, the state, intellect, violence etc.
I’ve been enjoying looking at Rhysand through this tragic hero lens because while it doesn’t really make him more sympathetic, it does make his actions easier to understand logically, which is its own kind of humanization. If Rhysand is aware of a prophesied or fated event sometime in the future and is pulling the cosmic strings now, it must be incredibly important, like annihilation-level important, which is so much pressure.
So he grows to maturity with an understanding that he will one day have to face this intense evil that could completely destroy his world, and it plants in him a hubris. He believes that his immense power grants him a certain amount of influence automatically. And honestly, is he wrong?
And this is where it’s important to think about how power makes people weird. Power gives people a false sense of confidence in their actions and choices, because their status and privilege protect them from so many more consequences. In this way it’s easy to see how someone can get a big ego - no one is stopping me, so I must be doing well! Or: everything is going well for me, so I must be really killing it! I know I feel that way in the first tingles of hypomania, but hypomania is fundamentally a distortion of reality and I believe so is power.
Power not only gives people confidence but also access to make decisions for others. They begin to think they should share the success they’ve found by leading and guiding others to see how great it can be if you do what they say. Just look at one of those cringe 'billionaire morning routine' videos to see what I mean. It’s a very patronizing form of altruism, because the leader genuinely believes they have the people’s interest at heart. And I use the word patronizing intentionally - leaders have often referenced feeling paternal towards their people, Winston Churchill + FDR, 'God the Father'. Power and fatherhood have been linked for a long time. And direct from our girl Wikipedia, "paternalism is action that limits a person's or group's liberty or autonomy and is intended to promote their own good".
I was talking with a girlfriend of mine recently about how I think some men don’t have the experience of other people depending on them in a significant way until they get married and/or become fathers. Like, afab and femme people learn very early to be considerate of others, to think about how others feel, to act in ways that keep others happy, etc. This plants in us a sense of duty to perform in ways that please others, to smile, to create comfort and provide caretaking in every environment we enter. So by the time we get to marriage and motherhood, we already know how to put others’ needs before our own because we’ve been doing it from the jump.
For men, however, this can be a completely novel experience. And it seems like it's SO HEAVY FOR THEM. George ‘Father of his Country’ Washington just wanted to go back to Virginia the whole time he was President. So many men talk about the pressures of being a provider and their families depending on them in a way women don’t, and I think it’s because for the first time others truly depend on them and they don’t know how to handle it.
In response, they either shove down their emotions as patriarchy demands and have a midlife crisis, or they abdicate that responsibility and go completely absent physically and/or emotionally to continue living for themselves. (Obviously there are good men and dads out there, and bless you if you’re lucky enough to know, have, or be one.)
And this aspect of power feels relevant because from the text it seems like Rhysand is unraveling. Between Feyre, the baby, the Trove, Nesta and being threatened by her power, Koschei, Bryce, the whole High King shit - I think he’s starting to crack under the pressure. And honestly, I’m kind of surprised it didn’t happen before now.
According to Aristotle, the tragic hero must:
Be significant (virtuous/capable/powerful/important etc.)
Be flawed
Suffer a reversal of fortune.
Rhysie boy definitely ticks the first two. I wonder what it would look like to get to three? I don’t think Sarah has the balls, but it’s definitely enhanced my reading experience and given me a lot of interesting things to think about.
Okay that's all I've got. Love ya, see ya soon xx

OUTFIT DESIGN COMMISSIONS sorry i bounce back and forth on what i offer all the time T o T I am the most unreliable = v =;;; BUT I did mention outfit commissions before so it's not coming from now where! I need some examples for these so if anyone was interested now is the time to take advantage of the discounted price > u > $20 - a small chibi of the outfit and your character in said outfit on a base $50 - a medium chibi of the outfit and your character in said outfit on a base (like the one on the left) $100 - a medium full body of the outfit, front and back views, and your character in said outfit on a base $150 - ^ same as above but with customized input, wips, and consultation How these work: You will give me a character to design an outfit for. It can be completely grab bag style or you can give me some inspo examples, or outfits to mashup, but you will not have any say on the final design - except for some minor color changes. The $150 option gives you consultation with room to tweak and change the design -within reason - at any stage. The design will be yours to do with as you please! You can change colors, details, cutouts, shapes, etc anyway you want. >> I work best with fantasy or historical fantasy like vibes but I am to work with you on any kind of outfit Payment will be via Paypal invoice If you have any questions feel free to ask away Message me here or email me at [email protected] to order!

✨Mr. & Mrs. X #1-3 readthrough highlights✨ 💒💑
I originally planned to do this review like the same week I finished the comic, but life got busy real fast and so it's a month and a half later that I'm finally getting to it 😅 so I might not remember every single detail, but now that I officially ended my MU subscription, I only have the screenshots and my memory to go on--but I'm sure I remember all the important things!
SO LET'S JUST GET THIS OUT OF THE WAY FIRST...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't think I've ever seen a 'same-face-syndrome' executed so poorly in a single series and tbh it really took me out of the story a lot of times while reading MMX 😪 like literally EVERY WOMAN HAS THE SAME EXACT FACE. SAME SMALL NOSE. SAME SKINNY SHORT EYEBROWS ANGLED THE SAME EXACT WAY. SAME LIP SHAPES. SAME ROUND CHEEKS. (and no, those two blond women are NOT the same person alsdfhsakdl)
and it's worse than just a simple style choice because 1) not all the men look the same and 2) it is such a distinctly new face for Rogue (and every other woman in the series) that's it's even more noticeable and jarring! especially when we already looked at Rogue and Gambit getting married and we had to go back into that same scene with the new same-face girlies all over. EVEN MYSTIQUE.
Tumblr media
and I think what also bothers me about this face is that...it looks babyish. the proportions, the roundness of the cheeks and forehead, the small little button nose, the small, barely there eyebrows... and the fact that MMX's plot ends up being about a child, whose features this is more fitting for... it was just a little weird to me. It isn't the first time we've had drastic style changes in X-Men comics but I hated how much of MMX had Rogue in this style and every time a new girl showed up with the same face, I got more and more sick of it lmao
Tumblr media
it was just so noticeable that when I got to see a cover like this it felt like SUCH GREAT RELIEF to see Rogue resembling her typical facial design that looked like a mature woman, even though it was just cover art. but... I know that wonky art of Rogue & Gambit shouldn't ruin the story for me and there were arcs of them where I had issues with their designs but overlooked it because the story was more important--so I'm gonna just never talk about it again in these summaries/reviews lol (but maybe I'll do panel redraws in my own style one day! 💖)
ok, now let's start for real!
alright, so...I may have mentioned before that I was just so eager about getting access to the comics that I peeked at the #1 issue very early on in my X-Men readthrough, so I already shared my thoughts on the 'honeymoon' here
Tumblr media
anyway, they spend most of their time f***ing on the ship and honestly, good for them 😂
it is kind of interesting now that we're at a point that Gambit could borrow Carol Danvers' ship just to get away from being called on a mission--but of course being in space makes them the closest X-Men team members to get an emergency call from Kitty to protect this object that like half the galaxy and bounty hunters are going after--which is the egg that holds the child of Xavier and Lilandra (don't remember how that happened, don't really care)
I actually ended up really liking Xandra, but at first I was rolling my eyes at yet another way Xavier and Lilandra got shoved back in the story lmao (also good one, copying a Twilight Renesmee mashup of names alskdhfdsag)
anyway, getting ahead of myself, but yeah--good thing I did take the time to read about Rogue & Deadpool's relationship because of course her sort of-ex shows up to save her from suffocating in space--but he's also there to go after the egg (and his pansexuality is showing re: gambit lol)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
anyway, Gambit and Rogue don't care about doing deadly harm to Deadpool (or what would be deadly harm to anyone else who couldn't regenerate blown up body parts) so they take the egg back to their ship (and Deadpool follows, somehow?) and then the egg ends up hatching' and it looks like Rogue!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I do think it's cute that we get like a little preview to see how Rogue & Gambit would act as parents--and really, they both are so good with mentoring younger kids, due to their own issues as children growing up and trying to help kids through similar problems--and it does look like Xandra is their kid sitting in the middle of them at a disciplinary meeting lol 💕
Tumblr media
anyway Xandra first looked like Rogue to try and protect herself since she has the power to make herself look like anything and she had made herself look like an egg before. (but LOL she could look like anything but they still give her the same face because all girls in this series have to look the same! let's just say at first i didn't know if that was supposed to be intentional or not that she still had rogue's new face alskdfhdsag--sorry I talked about it again--but like!!!)
anyway I don't remember why everyone is going after her (others think she's a weapon or something?) but then Gambit and Rogue have to go on a rescue mission to save Cerise, who I also barely remember 😂 but Cerise basically took care of Xandra so she's very special to her, and we'll get to that fancy infiltration in my next review!

It's finished now -- and turned out to be Beck again. What a total unexpected surprise! Did you know there's a trick to differentiate them without looking at the helmet shape?
What? Nah, not gonna tell ya. You just have to re-watch the show to figure it out. ;)
Anyway, the design is a mashup of Legacy, Betrayal and Uprising. I like the white-as-a-siren look, yea? It's not canon, I don't own yadda yadda yadda. If anyone wants these texture brushes send me an ask or DM. Shockingly; I don't bite.

What is the "burnt marshmallow" LMK AU I've been hearing about?
Burnt Marshmallow!Monkey King AU is basically just a mashup of a couple of hc's and a design I have for Monkey King. Tumblr is being a jerk so I can't just link you some explanation posts so I'm just gonna have to summarize
Headcanon 1: Fire
In jttw the only thing that's really ever hurt Sun Wukong is smoke and fire. He's been burned quite a lot, by the Samhadi fire, lost his sight for a bit due to smoke in his eyes, and way back during the Havoc in Heaven he was actually burned in a furnace for forty-nine days. I created this design (1 2 3) thinking about the results of that that maybe he never fully recovers from that. When he gets out of the furnace it even talks about him having glowing red eyes. I just had the thought of "what if that was more permanent" to the point where his fur never grew back the same way and the areas around his eyes were kinda charred and blackened because they're the most venerable part of him. (Hence the Nickname “Burnt Marshmallow”)
Headcanon 2: Glamours
I was thinking about how, he'd hide his appearance in canon, and in order for glamours to be convincing, he'd have to have some physical substance to them so that people could touch them and not immediately know it was just an illusion. Like if Mk were to reach out and touch his head he'd be able to feel how weirdly course and spiky feeling his fur is in contrast to how soft and fluffy it appears to be, he'd know somethings up. So I hc glamours act as a physical shield between the user and those around them.
Headcanon 3: JTTW
So I actually hold the hc that Tang Sanzang (Tripitaka) was actually afraid of Sun Wukong. (Which, y’know, kind fair. He watched him throw an entire mountain, run at the speed of sound, fly around on a cloud and insta-kill an entire group of bandits with no remorse (and maybe even some glee) in the first day of knowing him so... bGAKWMEOF) Anyway, add on the hc of my design for Wukong, and this monkey is one of the most demonic, terrifying things you’ve ever seen. As the Journey goes on Wukong gets enough self-awareness to realize Tang Sanzang is afraid of him, (which i actually hc as to why he listens to Zhu Bajie more and is so quick to punish and scold Wukong for things) and starts applying glamours little by little to make himself less terrifying. Dulls his teeth, slowly makes his fur change colour, changes his eyes to gold, a more friendly, good looking appearance, gradual enough that he makes it appear natural and if anyone asks he just says his fur’s finally growing out
Conclusion:
Burnt Marshmallow!Monkey King is an AU about how Monkey King is traumatized as heck, is hiding his true appearance and who he is behind a perfect hero persona because he believes he has to in order for people to feel comfortable around him or for him to be treated kindly/loved. He’s also the most touch starved version of Monkey King because after 500 years under a mountain + glamours that prevent people from touching him, he hasn’t actually had physical contact with anyone for close to a thousand years, maybe even more. So like, the moment someone makes contact with him without his glamour on he just shuts down completely, which becomes a problem during battles when his glamour is off. He barely remembers what he actually looks like and wears his glamours constantly out of habit, and not a single person knows about it.
Then Mk and the crew find out.
So it’s basically just a bunch of my hc’s building up until it was an AU of it’s own lol. I’ve made lots of posts about it, but unfortunately Tumblr’s the worst rn and nothing shows up when I search the tag so :’) hopefully this gave you the general gist of it. I’m currently writing a fic about this and it’s taking shape very nicely ngl, very angsty, lots of recover, and deals with a lot of Wukong’s suppression of certain aspects of himself and things bubbling over the top. And then just... him learning that there are people who won’t be scared of him no matter what he looks like, and that they’ll love him regardless, and that he doesn't need to change specific things about himself to make himself lovable, he already is. but yeah. Just Mk and the crew helping him work through a couple thousand years of trauma WOOOO BGAS;LKDFMAOWE
My favourite part of the fic so far is when he climbs a tree :P

Um hii so I may have something to add to the "duo name" discussion going on.
Fanmade duo names are generally established to separate them from shipping. Which is a good idea and we should continue to make an effort to tag shipping. But you know what else is a fanon concept? Not the idea of two CCs being good friends irl, but the fannish idea of shipping their characters. (Excluding CCs who are married / together). So instead of coming up with fanon names for platonic duos who are friends irl, I think we should come up with fanon names for the fannish concept of shipping (who are not together irl / whose characters are not together).
I'm not into QSMP so I cannot speak for that side and I know y'all have a different shipping culture, so this is more for hermitshipping / trafficshipping.
I can't verify this statement but in this post, OP mentions Joe and Cleo didn't want a duo name because they felt like a word + duo couldn't represent their years of friendship. And I can imagine this to be true for many duos especially in HC, which has been going on for so long. Instead of trying to “define” friendship with a word, we can shift the focus to making up a fan name for the fannish concept of shipping them.
Case study 1: Renchanting / Treebark
The ideal scenario: CCs make their own canon platonic name, shippers make their own fannish name for shipping. Treebark is a pun, it's vague, it doesn't overtly mention Ren or Martyn or their brands, and like the more niche duo names, you need to put in effort to understand what this means. Which makes it perfect for shipping in the sense we try to "hide" it. I know people have said it can be frustrating when you see a new duo and don’t know what it means, but I think it’s okay for ship names because they are by design meant to be obscure. You have to make an effort to look for it and understand what it means.
Case study 2: Convex / Cubscar (Ranchers / Solidaritek (?) also goes here)
I think it's called Cubscar based on Cubscar Week? Anyways, a slightly less ideal scenario than Treebark but still very very good. Canon name for platonic stuff, name mashup for romantic stuff. Less elegant that Treebark but it works so who cares. If it works, it works.
Case study 3: Flower Husbands
FH is different in the sense it’s a canon romantic ship and the CCs made the name themselves. I guess FH is still used for platonic but romantic FH would probably be best tagged with shipping to differentiate it.
Case study 4: Rendoc (aka. is this platonic or romantic or what) (Renskall also goes here)
Rendoc is like FH but?? It’s both a ship name and a duo name?? SHIPrendoc? They made it themselves hello?? Rendoc has been around long enough that we just use it for whatever. Like FH, romantic Rendoc should probably be tagged with shipping.
Case study 5: Fress / Stresskall
Long established ship names that sometimes gets used for platonic because it’s faster and we don’t have canon names (at least I think we don’t?). At least I use it for platonic too. It’s different from Rendoc / Renskall in the sense we don’t get a “haha yes ship us” from the CCs. And I think we have enough common sense to tell whether a post is meant to be shippy or not. Eg. “YESS FRESS CRUMBS IN NEW EPISODE!” (about canon platonic interaction), “omg fress in your au is so cute” (depends on context? What’s the AU?), “I think Fress should kiss” (overtly romantic).
These dynamics in particular have been around long enough that it feels weird trying to make a duo name for them (like Jleo). Like, I would rather call platonic Stress+Iskall with Stresskall than, fuckass allium duo or whatever. If it’s tagged with shipping, it’s meant to be seen as shipping. In the absence of canon names, sometimes using name mashups is faster and more efficient.
There are of course exceptions for everything: eg. Desert Duo is well established enough and it’s a good contrast to Scarian. But I think for more niche duos / ships, we can kind of get away with using name mashups? In the absence of canon names?
But I think name mashups are still seen as inherently shippy because that’s how other fandoms make their ship names. (Ironically one of my ships have the name “sniper duo” which is unrelated to mcyt duoification I promise, and is more used descriptively instead of as a tag) So we have to be careful with how we present name mashups especially in public spaces…?
I still think it’s better than making up duo names that few understand. And I think we should reserve our obscure names for the more obscure act of shipping instead. If it’s difficult to find out what it means, why not make it difficult by design? The name mashup tells you who they are, but the obscure ship name tells you explicitly it’s romantic. I know it’s hard trying to twist your thought process the other way because we’re so used to name mashups being for shipping (in other fandoms), but idk I just think it makes sense for fan names to be made for entirely fanmade concepts. And non fanmade concepts (friendships) can stay the way they are. Idk just some thoughts.

In running Strange Aeons (just finished the first book monday night!) and one of my players is playing a Flame Shaman so of COURSE I tied him to Cthugha though backstory. I also created some alien servitors of Cthugha based on Magmar of all things just in case I wanna pull that out of my back pocket.
That is such a smart idea! I have been occasionally thinking about statting up more Pokemon, and I really liked the human shaped elemental trio when I was a little kid. Electabuzz, Jynx, Magmar. I played through Pokemon Red like three times, and always used at least one of those on my team. So linking magmars to Cthugha is fun.
Have you seen The Phantom Planet? It's not very good, kind of a sci fi version of Gulliver's Travels. But that's where Magmar comes from. There's a group of enemy aliens called the Solarites? And they're a mashup of the Zagons and Metaluna Mutants from This Island Earth, being lumpy monsters with clawed feet and a bulbous head who use meteors as weapons. Both movies, This Island Earth and The Phantom Planet, were on Mystery Science Theater. Although This Island Earth is too good to be a "cheesy movie"
Anyway, Magmar is a 15% less anthropomorphic version of the Solarite design.
