Honestly i love that destinys children genrally is pretty low chasima but try to make up for it by having a high charisma face, the only issue being that said face is played by Lou Wilson a man cursed with a never ending dedication to the bit that means he ends up saying stuff so wild that a high charisma character could never roll high enough to not let his antics cause complete chaos

Lou has become the Nat 20 King for NeverAfter

Like seriously the amount of narrative nat 20s he's had is Ally in Unsleeping City level importance.

First he has the Nat 20 to sever his strings from the stepmother.

He rolled that absolutely critical nat 20 to gain insight into how to defeat the Terrible Dogfish.

Then he rolls the nat 20 to save alphonse reuiniting Tim and PIB with their friends and loved ones. Something that i think helps make the situation with the Gander and Baba Yaga tempered a bit as they had some sweetness to the bitter.

Then finally on what is the most critical roll in regards to actually getting what they need from the Baba Yaga, He rolls that Nat 20 to get the 30+ persuasion they need to at least have the Baba Yaga meeting go well.

Lou truly is some channeling some King Shit with The Boy of Destiny.

Destiny’s Children actually works so well as a name for them because:

It has pop culture significance

Destiny is a major theme (and antagonist???) in the campaign

1/3 of the PCs are literal children, while another 1/3 of them are adults that are essentially also children because they never got to live out their childhood days

maybe im reaching but i feel like theres a whole theme of lost love and letting go of that love with some of destinys children this episode.

with ylfa, its letting go of a love lost to death

with pinocchio, its letting go of a love lost to conditions

with rosamund, its a letting go of a love that could have been

with gerard, its letting go of a love that was

its not like they stopped loving, because obviously pinocchio still loves his dad, gerard still loves elody, ylfa still aches for her grandmother even if she cannot remember both their names, and rosamund still wants to love, but they've accepted that their loves are no longer as it was or as it was expected to be.

Ylfa going over to Gerard’s body and picking him up to bring him into the pages because she is Death got me so good. That was where tears began and then the echo of Little Red that was left behind for Rosamund to guide uuuuggghh. Such a good ending. I loved everyone’s final moments in the lines between and I loved everyone’s choices for their final stories.

So I thought Lou was the Nat 20 King, Ally was the Narrative Nat 20 Magic User, but I think Zac ended up being the true MVP of NeverAfter

He quietly just kept rolling amazingly clutch nat 20s in combat and just honestly putting in the underappreciated work of helping land enough damage to get Destiny's Children out of combat. + ROLLING THE CLUTCH 18 TO ALLOW THE PLAN TO TAKE EFFECT.

Plus his moves. rolling a +30 stealth roll but stepping out to play smoke on the water. iconic.

Having a bit where he continually steals or lies and it coming back around to literally stealing from the Baba yaga and her respecting PIB for doing so. Amazing.

Having a story where he gets to be the lazy cat in the end but still help others. including a bunch of sad middle aged princes. Perfection.

Honestly I could just go raving on and on about zac he was so good this season and honestly might be my fav character ever from him.

I think after that last episode, Destiny’s Children really needed a win, and a WIN they achieved! They survived the tiny people, got all the treasure, freed Tom Thumb and Thumbelina, somehow broke a curse on Alphonse they didn’t even know existed, Tim didn’t use his wish, AND they rescued Tomas, his wife, and Henry Hubbard

the finale neverafter encounter is probably gonna be structured like calamitys final encounter me thinks. like they have just have to survive x amount of rounds protecting a certain person whos working on a certain thing. after all brennan took time to point out that snow white got to concentrate on her spell for 4 rounds and that itll take the same amount of time to undo whatever she did. tpk is prolly inevitable but me thinks destinys children, specifically mother goose, just needs to last at least 4 rounds for them to "win"

on the topic of tpk, i honestly think that this current version of their stories will end in tragedy? but i hope that if destinys children protect tim long enough for him to rewrite everyones destinies they get to be happy in the new world they created, that their thrice upon a time is kindest and where they get to live happily.
