#shinichis real fursona is actually a german shepherd or some other police dog #or maybe some dog that was featured in a sherlock holmes story #he gets along with dogs well so thats why i think he'd have a dog fursona #the reason conan tells the detective kids that he'd be an aardvark if he was an animal is because Ran was in the room #and she'd know shinichi's fursona is a dog. so if he said dog she'd suspect him of being shinichi #so he went through an alphabetized list of animals and picked the first one #shitpost #detective conan #case closed

Yesterday on 29.03. 2024 German TV Station ProSiebenMaxx hosted a Detective Conan Marathon where they broadcasted the first 6 movies.

Run time went from 11:10 AM - 22:20 PM CET.

It was so much fun to watch this with my friends online. We made some commentary in german and took some pictures.

There's a lot of talk about Heiji's tendency to drop everything and go to Tokyo to help—or even just to see!—Shinichi, and rightfully so. It's something Heiji unabashedly admits to (Episode 278, Magic File 5)...

Heiji: If any other suspicious persons show up, just call me! I'll run right over!

Ran: Hattori-kun saw that incident on the news and rushed over because he was worried about you, Conan-kun. Heiji: Grabbed the first bullet train in the mornin'!

And I still can hardly believe that Heiji's canon, actual, real-deal reaction to a request to put his life on the line and impersonate Shinichi... is an immediate "OK" composed out of heart emojis (Episode 345).

Seriously. That happened. Heiji couldn't not help.

Heiji (internally): I had no choice. After all, Kudo e-mailed me asking me to do this.

But in Shinichi's first appearance since being poisoned (Episode 49), after seemingly refusing to show his face to Ran or Inspector Megure or anyone else in town for who knows how long, he unabashedly claims that he dropped everything to meet Heiji. He smiles about it!

And of course it's a lie, but there's a smidgen of truth to it, too. Conan did accompany Heiji, despite feeling terribly sick and harboring zero interest in the (apparently) non-murderous case, because he was intrigued. Because he was impressed with what Heiji had uncovered about him already and was nervous about what else his so-called "rival" could reveal.

Conan (internally): I don't wanna go, but there's no telling what this guy might say!

But even without that context, Shinichi's easy, immediate cover story gets to me. He really, truly, unhesitatingly asserts that meeting Heiji was important enough to jump right on a train to get there.

It reminds me of Shinichi's excitement when he first learns of Heiji (File 520), and his grin when he thinks of meeting Heiji for real one day (File 522):

Shinichi: Really? Then he's just like me!

Shinichi (internally): We'll meet each other again... on that mysterious stage...

I think I could totally buy that Shinichi actually would have done exactly what he claims in the clip. He is interested in other detectives like himself, and with the pain of the antidote wearing off in Episode 49, that smile's gotta be genuine.

Finally, while it's Not That Deep, there's maybe something to be said about how Heiji is symbolically the key to Shinichi's true self, since it's Heiji's alcohol that transforms Conan back into Shinichi. With this clip, Shinichi underlines the same idea. It's Heiji who brought him back after so long. It's because of Heiji Hattori that Shinichi Kudo makes his first appearance after vanishing.

And I love how forthright Shinichi is about it.

This one was definitely different! This read more as a spy story more than a detective story. It was cool to see Sherlock up to his old tricks, and even Watson getting in on the action!

All the world's a stage: His Last Bow

Today I received the last story of the year from my dear friend Watson. Did he write it? Apparently he didn't. It was Sir Arthur Conan Doyle? Billy again? Mycroft Holmes? We don't know, but at least I'm sure the author wasn't Sherlock Holmes because there's not a single cry of "my Watson would do this better". We know our drama queen. My theory is that Mycroft wrote it after hearing Sherlock and John talking about this case, and then ACD edited it.

There are many reasons of why I love this story: Holmes has the chance to use chloroform:

Holmes in disguise with longer hair and a horrible goatee, the references to professor Moriarty, colonel Moran and Irene Adler Norton, Martha the housekeeper (Mrs. Hudson? I don't know) there's a cat! but what I really like is how Sherlock Holmes used all his knowledge, talent and expertise to work as a spy.

This is his last case. This is his last play. That's why the title of this story has been translated into Spanish as Su último saludo en el escenario, El último saludo (as in my copy of Todo Sherlock Holmes) or La última reverencia. The detective works incognito for two years: he changes his appearance, he speaks with American accent and he travels to another places. Sherlock is an actor and all the world is a stage, and for his last show he calls his friend Watson to work with him at his side for the grand finale. Holmes takes the time to drink wine with Watson and to talk about everything and nothing while Von Bork is tied (somebody is third-wheeling here, or as we say in Chile, Von Bork is playing the violin). The detective takes the chance to steal £500, use his own book Practical Handbook of Bee Culture as a decoy, and make a dramatic identity reveal because Holmes loves to be dramatic, and he really loves to be dramatic when Watson is at his side. The previous short stories are the evidence.

What happened after this? my friend Doctor Watson answer this question in the preface of the book His Last Bow:

The friends of Mr. Sherlock Holmes will be glad to learn tha he is still alive and well, though somewhat crippled by occasional attacks of rheumatism. He has, for many years, lived in a small farm upon the downs five miles from Eastbourne, where his time is divided between philosophy and agriculture. During this period of rest he has refused the most princely offers to take up various cases, having determined that his retorement was a permanent one. The approach of the German war caused him however, to lay his remarkable combination of intellectual and practical activity at the disposal of the government, with historical results which are recounted in His Last Bow. Several previous experiences which have lain long in my portfolio have been added to His Last Bow so as to complete the volumen JOHN H. WATSON, M.D.

It's been a year since Letters from Watson reunited old and new fans to read the short stories on Sherlock Holmes and next year it's time to read the novels!

shows that formed me to be the person I am, the type of writer, the type of artist, the type of thinker. I am as surprised as you that JoJo didn't make the cut ???? but these are the core series from my life and JoJo has been..... very very recent...

They're not in any particular order, just ended up random cuz I kept accidently forgetting to click an empty box, lol

Nobody's boy Remi - I used to cry when I missed an episode on tv TAT I was like 4 or 5 years old, hahah... no clue what anime was yet, but it stuck so strongly with me. the beautiful art, the emotional storytelling. my very first step towards being a fucking weeb =v=

Prince of Tennis - I've done so much art, so much writing, so much meta for Prince of Tennis x_x nothing to awaken the analytical mind than a sport anime. also, the first thing I really got to enjoy without my toxic ex-bestie

Ashita no Nadja - I originally only found like 3 episodes on a German website with no subtitles;; it's so horribly cringy and disney princess vibe, but it brings such warm feelings and memories in my heart. the classic 'orphan girl meets a mysterious masked man who is actually a prince', masked balls, traveling circus, history and culture. these are the type of corny things I want in my oc stories, yes, thank you.

Good witch of the West - a bit overlapping with Ashita no Nadja, but this one strikes a very special cord with me. It's probably the most obscure anime I have in my entire list and I've watched it so so many times.

Hunter x Hunter - it's from a period where I met a lot of my first non-school friends. having cosplayed Leorio and Kuroro more than I can count, and I am very normal about Illumi. I just feel very comfortable and nostalgic with it. and on like the day where I finished the original, the remake was announced, hohohoh~ Also, Hisoka helped along to reel in this clownfucker bestie of mine~~ ;))

D. Gray-Man - this show was an experience for me, man. I've spend like 5 years stuck in OC hell, but I'm still very fond of my little arrogant idiot noah oc, Chrome =3= the Noahs are the best villains in the entire wide world and I will not take criticism.

Glass Mask - relatively less old than the other 8, but it was there in a very important moment of my life. Glass Mask will forever mark the period where I started living on my own. I was so proud of myself how well I was doing without having my parents around all the time. watching a complete anime on full screen in the living room for the first time, what a blessing.

DNAngel - I still see certain resemblances in my artstyle to where I started drawing anime with DNAngel. the soft eyes and the shading is still one of my favorites. and Hiwatari Satoshi is my very first Megane boy~<3

Magic Knight Rayearth - not so much the anime, but the SNES game changed my life forever. My oldest brother had installed an emulator and some roms and MKR was among it. It was my first introduction with 'anime' where I actually learned what anime was, that it was Japanese and that there were MORE series like this wooooow! Until this very day, even after 25 years, I still listen to the name Umi.
