Detective Pickachu (2019) is so underrated. The plots a bit basic. But it does a fantastic job of world building, and the CGI is impressive all round. It's such a fun feel-good movie. I don't get how it hasn't led to a bigger movie franchise. I'm still waiting on Inspector Bulbasaur, Lieutenant Charmander, Captain Psyduck...

I need more of these movies.

When Godzilla: King of the Monsters came out we went to see it at the drive in. But it was the second movie and we had already watched Detective Pickachu and it was like 11pm, so whenever there were too many talking scenes we'd switch the radio to the other movie. Which happened to be the Aladdin remake. Rewatching it now and half expecting Sad Dad to sing about being an empowered woman.
