There was something strange about the lake he looked over, he could feel it. He'd been trying his best to keep out of trouble, not draw any attention to himself, but when had that ever truly worked before for him? Whether Erik liked it or not, trouble always seemed to be just around the corner as though it were waiting for him. "You know something." Came the abrupt break of silence in the night, turning his head to the side a little, more than aware that he was no longer alone. He was no telepath, of course, he couldn't read her mind, but given what he could feel, he felt sure it was a good bet. "Explain this place... and don't lie to me."

Send ๐ for my muse to catch yours staring at them!
The writer was focused on trying to figure out what to write, eyes leering at the typewriter until he realized someone's gaze was focused on him. Looking up, he was a bit surprised to see Aubrey standing there before he leaned back in his chair.
He tilted his head curiously to the right before inquiring, "Something on your mind?"

Hold a knife to my muse's throat - Accepting
People were so stupid. She held the blade to his throat, and all that he felt was frustration. Not even that. Mild annoyance with a mix of amusement. There was no fear. Why would there be? Even if she tried to slice into his throat, the darkness would shield him. There would be no moment of reckoning. No sharp cutting pain. No gurgling and choking on his own blood. No crimson would pour down his skin and stain his clothes. And even if it did, so what? He wouldn't die. He couldn't die. This was his story, after all.
"When you cut someone's throat, you should probably cut their windpipe and not their artery. It takes longer to die and it hurts a lot more." He had seen both. Done both. Cruelty swirls beneath his skin. A malevolent force born of dark feelings and dreams. The desire to feel powerful. He loved to remind others of their own weakness, their inferiority.
"If you wanna try it, I get it. It's thrilling. It's fun. But even if you do try, I'm not the best target. I can help you find someone else. If you do good, I might even spare you. Isn't that fun?"

"I was in love once."
Suderland has been wandering through the fog-shrouded streets before encountering the stranger standing alone, their silhouette barely visible through the mist. Slowly, he decided to approach.
Feeling a pang of guilt and sorrow as the stranger's words cause memories of Mary to resurface. He is transported back to the moments they shared, the love they once knew, and the pain of her loss that still lingers within him like a shadow.
His voice trembles slightly as he responds, "I know what it's like to love someone. I had a wife. She was everything to me. But I couldn't save her. I tried...but I couldn't save her."
His words trail off, filled with a mixture of grief and regret. He struggles to find the right words to express the weight of his guilt, the burden of knowing that he couldn't prevent Mary's death, no matter how much he wished he could turn back time.
" Sometimes it feels like I'm drowning. But...I keep going. I have to keep going, even when it feels like there's no way out. "

@dexdgirl asked: "Can I borrow a kiss? I promise I'll give it back."
sentence starters
"Ya wanna borrow it?" Higgs smoothed with an attempt at taming a grin, trying his best to appear pensive more than anything else. Though given the offer it made it a little more difficult for him to keep the playful facade together. "Who am I to say no to that beautiful face?" The towering mutant stepped closer, a long arm snaking around her waist, gently resting just above her hip as he slowly leaned in. "Promises, promises." He whispered softly, a smile firmly settled into his lips as he pressed against Aubrey's. "Mmmmm, ya taste as good as ya look. Don't go holdin' that for too long, we wouldn't want it goin' stale, now do we?"

@dexdgirl asked:
one day the sadness will end.
twin peaks, log lady intros | tv quote starters
Sadness varies among all people. There is a heaviness in the weight of this situation that he does not share readily. Nor does he care to give further explanation in the matter. What is done is done. She should know this. In fact it is a wonder she has not left already after his confessions of murdering Elijah's sister. An act of passion at the time? No. Merely a way of keeping Eliana quiet.
Her threats to expose secrets only sealed her fate. If she had not made such comments she would still be alive. Whether or not she would still be his lover is not a question. He would have given her up for Aubrey. As he has given up Vesper.
"I am not one who becomes sad, Aubrey. Have you not known what I am? What my worst is? You see me. You know me to be in this underworld." Corvus places a hand to her cheek. Ever the present light in the dark for the mafia man. She should not be touched by murder. His hands are bloodied without a stain. They have done terrible things. Yet here she is.
However it is clear that she is not here one hundred percent. After all he technically stole her away from his cousin. A man who acts before he thinks? No. It was all calculated. He knew it would harm Landon but did so anyway out of his selfish need of Aubrey Zane. "There is something in you that no other has given me. Peace of mind."

HELLO FRIEND - Accepting
For a moment, he let the silence settle between them. It felt as if she was repeating his own thoughts back at him. A long time ago, he had thought he would be free by now. That he had put a stop to it. That Alice would be safe and they could be happy again. Alan had always been a cynic and a pessimist. But how easy it was to lie to himself. His typical delusions of grandeur and ego. He thought it would be different. That life could go back to normal. But that isn't how this story ends, is it? Does it ever end?
"Yeah, I get it." Hopelessness snaps at his heels. Right behind him. Threatening to pull him down and tear him to pieces again. He didn't know how many times it had caught him by now. His memories were scattered. But maybe some things were better forgotten.

"This town's dangerous."
Sunderland tilts his head in a curious manner at the stranger, wondering if she understood the full extent of her words. " It is, " he affirms solemnly. " Have you seen them, too? " He's been stuck here for so long now that the passage of time had become a murky spectrum seemingly without beginning or end. Some days it felt like he'd just arrived in this town, others felt like years.
" You should stay indoors, " he said abruptly when there was a moment of clarity. " It's safer than out here. " The light post he stood which they stood under flickered, a small respite from the all-encompassing fog.
