———————————————————————
“How does he have all this information on me?” You question Hobie while continuing to read the screen as he lounges lazily on Miguel’s desk before the boss decided to return.
“Creepy innit” Hobie chuckles as he reads the screen as well “s’not even accurate”
“Seems it” you say distracted as your mind continues to process the information they have stored on you
“Nah” Hobie says as he points at one part of the screen “says one sided friendship here”
“Yeah, and?” You say as you look at him with a raised brow
“S’not true, is it” Hobie says with a nonchalant shrug
“Actually, it pretty much sums us up pretty well” you say deadpan
“Nah, you love me really” he says as he swings an arm around your shoulders
“Sure” you say with an exhausted sigh as you brush his hands away from your shoulders before closing the screen and exiting Miguel’s office
“Where you off to?” Hobie calls after you but you don’t even turn around and you continue to walk in the opposite direction
“I’m gonna smash the camera in the housing units kitchen and the one in front of my door” you shout back “so he can’t spy on me and get any more information on me”
Hobie just shrugs as he puts his hands in his jacket pockets and nonchalantly strolls in the direction you went. You could smash all the cameras you want, it wouldn’t make a difference
Not unless you found the ones they hid in your bedroom.

You're so fucking right! I forgot about that! Man if acid blood is involved then there is gonna be some carnage in this episode.
Also, just wanted to get your direct opinions on 2 of my ideas:
The ARG book being hidden somewhere in the church
The furnace representing Dexter's cremation, I think this one is extra likely because of the image of the boys destroying happy fellas. Imagine they destroy the one Dex is currently possessing close enough to his original body just as Moloch leaves it... which is also when it's being cremated, meaning he would be burned alive 4 times in total (twice in DS and twice in the new ep.)
Oooo yeah on that, I looked up the patient file again to make sure I was remembering it right and Dexter's blood isn't acidic now, it's molten
Tumblr media
On your ideas tho:
It being hidden in the church would actually be pretty interesting, given that Father Gregor seems to be in direct opposition to the cult according to one of Pelo's doodles -- that one of their scriptures is hidden there would be ironically funny... and tbh reminds me of my original idea that the Thieves' role in this episode was that they were trying to rob the church. Maybe they end up stumbling on it
HAH oh god I'd feel so bad for Dexter, poor guy gets his body back right as it's being destroyed. I could see that happening given it feels right in line with Pelo's humor

Dexter season 4
Starring:
Michael C Hall
Jennifer Carpenter
James Remar
David Zayas
Luna Lauren Velez
Julie Benz
C.S. Lee
John Lithgow
When season 4 came out, I had only seen a few episodes of season 1 and I wasn't interested. Up until friends from the PoP!cast started talking about it every week and how great it was. So I netflixed seasons 1 through 3 and then caught reruns of season 4 on Showtime and I was hooked.
Season 4 however was the Trinity Killer and it's what hooked me into going back to the beginning and watching them again.
Kills and Blood Slides:
Trinity Killer: 279 Confirmed Kills
Dexter up til the end of season 4: 96
Shocking Moment: The end of season 4, the bathtub. Dexter's toddler son in a pool of his own mother's blood.
Tumblr media
Okay, so Dexter is not horror, but he is a serial killer slasher and has a kill table and is one of my favorites along with the first 5 seasons of Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, and Teen Wolf nowadays due to its beastiary content.
The New Yorker's Emily Nussbaum called Lithgow's characterization of Arthur as "so creepy I’m still not over it" in 2011 and also said the character was "modeled on the BTK Killer".
Dexter Facts
Dexter has killed about 117 people according to the Dexter Wiki. He had 45 blood slides in his first box before it was destroyed and now has about 43 slides in his new box. There were also 20 or so victims from whom he didn't collect blood.
Series star Michael C. Hall revealed he was afflicted with Hodgkin's lymphoma in January 2010, but continued to work on the series. Most of his fellow cast members were surprised by the news, because he had not disclosed his condition during production. Hall is, as of mid-2010, in remission.
The name of the main character, "Dexter," is also a Latin word meaning "right hand." The implied complement is the Latin for "left hand," "sinister," reflecting his hidden dark side. In 2010 author Jeff Lindsay confirmed at a book signing in Edinburgh that he chose the name Dexter because it was the opposite of "sinister", reflecting the character's surface normality.
Jennifer Carpenter's Debra uses more expletives in any given episode than all of her male colleagues combined. AND WE LOVE HER FOR THAT
Tumblr media
One aspect of the Trinity killer parallels the BTK killer. Dennis Rader maintained a very normal family life and was very active in the Christ Lutheran Church in Park City, KS. Among many positions, he was a deacon and congregation president and Cub Scout leader. Ironically, it was his use of a church computer to communicate with authorities that led to his arrest.
Director/producer Michael Cuesta initially approached a pre-The Hurt Locker (2008) Jeremy Renner to play Dexter, but Renner declined the part as he felt he could not play another serial killer again after playing Jeffrey Dahmer in Dahmer (2002).
Composer Daniel Licht initially wrote Dexter's theme song as part of the score for the horror anthology movie Necronomicon: Book of Dead (1993).
Dexter frequently uses aliases that make reference to Bret Easton Ellis books and their film adaptations. These include using "Patrick Bateman" (the main character from American Psycho (2000)) when buying tranquilizers and "Sean Ellis" (reference to both Ellis and Sean Bateman - from The Rules of Attraction (2002)) when seeing a psychiatrist.

SEEN, READ, PLAYED 2022
Once again taking a page from Steven Soderbergh and kept track of track of every movie (48), episode of television (1,304), play (15) and musical (7) seen, every book read (56), concert attended (3) and video game (5) finished (not to mention all of the scripts I read for work or podcast episodes I listened to, which were not included because enough is enough).
Media consumption shifted up and down from 2021: 6 less movies, 15 more books, 5 less video games, 65 more episodes of TV, 11 more plays, 3 more musicals, and 1 more concert.

My watch list is all over the place.
I randomly started rewatching Boondocks. And I have a suspicion that I only ever watched the first two seasons. So I can’t wait to get to season 3 and 4. But I will say so far it’s still as good as I remembered.
I also finally started Dexter: New Blood. I didn’t want to do a rewatch of all 8 seasons of the original. So im hoping I remember enough of it to be okay. Lol
Also, this week the season finale of From and Class of 09 both will drop. I honestly wished From gave us 20 episodes. Because man, I don’t feel like I know much still but I’m soo excited to continue watching.

Let Dexter be the good guy
(This is literally nothing but spoilers for the finale episode of New Blood.)
It's possible I'll change my mind the more I think about it, but it seems that what bugs me the most about the New Blood finale is that the writers suddenly wanted to backpedal after nine seasons and go "Oh no never mind our hero is just one hundred per cent awful LOL JK die."
The entire premise of Dexter is interesting because it put us in a position to not just sympathize, but empathize with a full-blown murderer. This was, in a 21st-century sort of way, a Murder on the Orient Express approach. The more we learned about Dexter's origins, the more we got inside his head and the way he never really, truly justified himself ("I'm a very clean monster") but nevertheless did what he did and, to paraphrase John Wayne Cleaver of I Am Not a Serial Killer, copied the behavior of those he rationally considered to be good...the more we felt like we were allowed to love him. When confronted with all the aspects of his morality, we found that, while he was not heroic by any classical definition, we wanted him to continue being who and what he was. Part of this is probably revenge-fantasy for a lot of us-- God knows that, as an abuse survivor, I cheered when Trinity died. But in the virtual reality of fiction, we were allowed that.
New Blood tried, in the final lap, to break down that fourth wall and impose real-life morality onto our twisted hero who had, in so many ways, fought for and found his own humanity in the midst of monstrosity. After everything we had seen him gain and go through, they suddenly wanted to make us hate him as we would Bundy or Manson.
I don't want Dexter brought to justice. I don't want him to stop "taking out the garbage." And I don't for one second believe that 1) Dexter didn't care about saving innocent people (look how he's always responded to endangered children); 2) that Dexter would have killed Logan, who didn't meet the Code; 3) that Dexter "never" knew "real love" until Harrison when we have 8 freaking seasons of him bending over backwards for his sister; 4) that Dexter would further traumatize his own child by asking to be killed.
And the fact that the writers had to have him do such out-of-character things to justify that ending tells me that they hated Dexter and never should have been allowed near our Dark Defender.
(If you disagree with me, please write your own post about it. I'm not here for Discourse and if you try to bring the righteous indignation I will simply hit the block button.)

General 3 am Ramblings About the Showtime Series “Dexter”
Ok so I never watched this show as it was airing. I know my dad was and due to cultural osmosis I knew some things about it going in: 1. It was about a serial killer who went after other serial killers.
2. Season 4 is considered the best.
3. The “Surprise Motherfucker” meme is from this show.
4. People don’t like the finale to either Dexter nor it’s 2021 revival Dexter: New Blood.
Earlier this year I felt a compulsion to start the show and see for myself what all the fuss was about. I am currently on the last episode of Season 5 and I have Some Thoughts™ and felt like getting them out now. I’ll go into detail under the cut.
Season 1: From the get go I enjoyed this show. The cast was good and the premise was interesting. While I knew Dexter was a serial killer I didn’t know he worked as a forensics expert for the Miami police. Which immediately throws in a neat twist to the formula. I enjoyed the season long mystery about the Ice Truck Killer and the tension between Dexter and Sergeant Doakes. Satisfying season with a good story and good characters.
Season 2: I don’t know if I like it as much or more than season 1. The stakes have been raised so high and the tension was palpable. I honestly don’t have anything interesting to say about it other than it was a great continuation and I enjoyed it.
Season 3: The introduction of the potential new ally and Dexter grappling with breaking his moral code was really good stuff. Nice character development all around. I would say I don’t like this season as much as 1 or 2 but it is still more of a show I like so I can’t complain.
Season 4: I can see why this is the fan favorite season. A very memorable villain and it just feels like the show has entered its stride. Excellent character development for Dexter especially considering his complicated relationship that develops with the Trinity Killer. I will say that this was the first time with show that I personally felt uneasy watching death scenes. I am already squeamish but for some reason prior to this season the macabre aspects didn’t get to me.
Season 5: This is where my thoughts get complicated. I had heard that starting with season 5 there is a decrease in quality. And for a solid two-thirds of the season I felt that people were maybe judging it too harshly. But then halfway through episode 11 of the 12 episode season it hit me. An entire storyline had been entirely dropped. A new character had been introduced throughout several episodes and then had been added to the homicide team. And then they just didn’t show up again for the rest of the season. Another character’s motives and personality completely shifts with very little explanation. I still find myself intrigued with the main murder case. But I can’t really ignore all the little cracks every where else in the season. I have yet to finish episode 12 so maybe it sticks the landing and ties everything together. So far this is probably my least favorite season but I still like the format of the show and most of the cast.
I may do a second post once I finish the series but this is what I got so far.

paring down my tv show watchlist cause why waste time on shit that isnt worth it...... any of yall seen the following, and would you rec i keep going with em?
Killing Eve -- have not started season 4...... s3 was already going downhill for me, is it worth it to finish out there series or is s4 really just as bad as ive heard?
Lovecraft Country -- left off at ep3 long time ago, worth finishing?
Dexter: New Blood -- okay honestly not even sure why i bothered starting this. watched the first ep when it came out, but heard the finale is almost just as bad if not worse than the original series.
Ms. Marvel -- mainly started cause a friend worked on it, enjoyed the first ep but heard it just gets less and less interesting from there?
The Marvellous Mrs. Maisel -- im only 5 episodes into the show, but it doesnt totally feel like my thing? its highly praised and all, though ive heard less praise for later seasons. i think i just dont enjoy shows with quick witty banter? idfk lol what do yall think

What are your opinions on the Dexter finales and your favorite seasons?
i was not a fan of the season 8 finale, i think it had a holes in it and also . i am not a hannah fan it felt very much so like it was trying to cater to the audience rather than what the character would do.
i did however love the new blood finale. i guessed and wanted that to happen since the first episode of nb and was SO happy it went that way. i like that they used this season to ground dexter more in reality, especially the way it hammered home the notion that deb isn't there whereas in the og series harry appeared but naturally went in and out, but in new blood we see him yell at nothing. i really liked that detail but whoops that's not abt the finale. anyways yes i liked the finale for nb it makes sense and i'm glad it brought back the family piece.
my fave seasons are probably 4, 6, 1, 9(nb), not really in any order! i loved the whole show tho! i wasn't totally obsessed w season 7 and 8 but still loved loved the show overall!

I found this on Facebook. I watch entirely too much tv so I will not surprised by the results. Although I will say it’s a lot of them below I didn’t actually finish.
