For all international fans who want to watch Tatort Saabrücken (of annual tumblr trending fame) but don't speak German, fear not:

(Please do not send asks as I can't post them publicly and I've had the unfortunate experience of privately posted ones eating links or disappearing into the tumblr void, never to be seen again...)

You can pass them along to other people privately (though please also ask them not to post them and to let anyone else they'd like to share them with know as well!), but I really don't want any beef with the channel (which is publicly funded and can afford far fancier lawyers than me, who is none-funded and can afford no lawyers) because these are not official in any capacity nor do I want to leave anyone with the impression that these could be official. They're a simple homemade attempt at letting non-German-speaking fans participate in the epic highs and lows of Spatort because there currently are no official English subtitles. Any mistakes are entirely my own, I don't own any of the copyrights to Tatort or any of their characters or plots, yadda yadda.

That being said, if you notice any typos, translation errors, missing or out of date links or anything else, please do let me know so I can update the files accordingly!

As I've gotten a few messages this year apologizing for being late: if anyone sees this in the future - yes, this is still up to date. You can shoot me a message at any time of the year and I will get back to you as soon as I can (usually within 24-48 h). If you still haven't heard from me after a week (especially if there's still new posts coming in on the blog) feel free to poke me again - I promise I'm not ignoring you, I most likely just haven't seen the notification.

Okay ich habe zu viele Gedanken dazu und mache jetzt doch ein Post dazu. Inspiriert von diesem Post und Punkt 1 im Reblog. Wird wohl ein ziemliches Chaos, but bear with me.

Also, Leo hat geglaubt Adam sei Tot. Falls man sich jetzt tatsächlich überlegt, wie das alles funktioniert hat, könnten plötzlich ein paar Sachen Sinn ergeben.

Erstens hat Leo nie definitiv erfahren, ob Adam tot war. Das heißt, es gibt keinen Grund zu denken, dass Leo ein Anfangsdatum für seine Trauer haben würde. Ab wann hat er dann angefangen zu trauern? Man könnte sich ja vorstellen, dass die ersten Wochen schwierig waren, nach einem Monat dachte sich Leo vielleicht „hmm der ist tatsächlich jetzt länger weg“ und als er dann nicht zu Feiertagen und Geburtstagen da ist und nach einem Jahr keinen Laut von sich gegeben hat, hat Leo vielleicht irgendwann die Hoffnung aufgegeben.

Aber dass Leo erst nach einem Jahr trauert glaube ich auch nicht. Aus eigener Erfahrung kann ich sagen, dass man auch um Leute trauern kann, die gar nicht tot sind — falls sie aus dem eigenen Leben verschwinden reicht es vollkommen aus. Also sind ein paar Monate vielleicht bei Leo auch schon mehr als genug.

Also ab wann hat Leo dann angefangen um Adam zu trauern nicht wie jemand, der verschwunden ist, sondern der auch tot ist? Ab wann denkt Leo nicht nur „Adam ist nicht mehr in meinem Leben“ und ab wann wird es „Adam ist nicht mehr“?

Ich bezweifle, dass es da einen genauen Zeitpunkt für gab. Und weil die Trauer nur langsam angeschlichen gekommen ist, ist sie wohl auch umso langsamer wieder weggekrochen. Und womöglich einfach geblieben, die ganzen Jahre.

Und dazu kommt noch, dass Leo ja wahrscheinlich alleine und etwas geheim getrauert hat. Carl (edit: Caro lol) weiß offensichtlich nur, dass da mal was war, aber nicht was passiert ist, also mit ihr hat er nicht geredet. Mit Heide ja wahrscheinlich auch nicht, obwohl die beiden sich alleine durch Zufall im Krankenhaus haben sehen müssen, und Heide wahrscheinlich auch auf ihrer Art und Weise getrauert hat, which we can’t unpack here because that’s surely a Whole Thing as well. Und wie sollte Leo denn anderen Leuten davon erklären? „Mein bester Kindheitsfreund ist ohne ein Wort abgehauen und ich weiß nicht mehr ob er lebt, also bin ich depressiv“? Das heißt, Leo hat alleine getrauert, ohne mit jemandem drüber zu reden, und ohne jemals eine Gewissheit zu kriegen.

Wetten, der hat also mindestens 10 Jahre lang getrauert — und weil ich mir vorstellen kann, dass er es sich nicht mal selbst erlaubt hat, hat diese Trauer ihn wahrscheinlich von innen aufgefressen. Es hat ihn regelrecht kaputt gemacht, und Adam irgendwann wiederzusehen ist wahrscheinlich mental chaotischer für ihn gewesen, als falls man Adam einfach irgendwann tot vorgefunden hätte. Ein toter Adam hätte endlich einen Punkt dahinter gesetzt, und Leo hätte seine Trauer offen und ehrlich zeigen können und dann auch weiterkommen können. Aber um jemandem so lange zu trauern, allein und geheim und stille, nur um diese Trauer dann rückgängig schrauben zu müssen?? Niemandem zeigen zu können, dass man 15 Jahre lang „vergebens“ getrauert hat? Ja ne, klingt nicht gesund.

Und weshalb ergibt das dann Sinn? Na ja, Leos Reaktion auf Adams Wiederkehr, seine vielleicht nicht mehr realitätsnahe Vorstellung von Adam, wie absolut kaputt dieser Mann ist. Das ergibt nach 15 Jahren — womöglich auch noch fälschlich als „vergeben“ eingeschätzter — Trauer schon sehr dolle Sinn.

In all the years I’ve lived here I’ve never been so politically pleased as I have been this legislative session.  I almost can’t believe it.  For once it seems as though the Endless Backlog of Languishing Problems That Never Seem to Get Addressed finally did to some significant extent.

The DFL (democratic - farmer - labor) majority meant that they could largely ignore the obnoxious parade of cranks, conspiracy theorists, Bible-drunk theocrats, bigots obsessed with LGBT people, and general know-nothings who define the Republican party here and pretty much everywhere else in the country.

Heute beim Rewatch von dfl ist mir ein kleiner Logikfehler aufgefallen:

Esther sagt zu Leo: "Und gerade habe ich noch den Neuen hingebracht." Esther hat also Adam mit dem Wissen in Leos Büro gebracht, dass er der neue Kollege ist. Es muss eine Vorstellung zwischen Adam und Esther stattgefunden haben. Sie kann ja nicht irgendwen einfach so in Leos Büro bringen, ohne zu wissen, wer das eigentlich ist.

Pia kommt ins Büro. "Die Streife vom 12er hat ne Leiche. Wär eigentlich eure." Sie ist nicht überrascht Leo dort nicht alleine anzutreffen. Sie erkundigt sich nicht, wer Adam ist. Daraus folgt, dass sie entweder dabei war, als Esther und Adam sich begegnet sind oder Esther es ihr mitgeteilt hat.

Alle vier am Tisch. Leo zu Pia und Esther: "Wir wissen alle, warum wir hier sind, aber zunächst möchte ich euch unseren neuen Kollegen Adam Schürk vorstellen." Das ist keine neue Information für Esther und Pia. Esther weiß, wer Adam ist, weil sie ihn mit dem Wissen, dass er der neue Kollege ist in Leos Büro gebracht hat. Und wenn Esther etwas weiß, dann weiß es auch Pia. Leo dürfte sich dessen bewusst sein.

Minnesota has had a narrow Democratic trifecta since early 2023. Since then, the legislature has been cranking out progressive legislation with Gov. Tim Walz signing it.

A new measure authored by first-term State Rep. Leigh Finke (DFL-66A) would prevent educational institutions and local governments from removing Pride flags and related symbols.

Minnesota schools, colleges and local governments would be barred from removing rainbow pride flags, banners or posters under a bill moving through the state Legislature. The proposal advanced through the House Local Government Finance and Policy Committee on Tuesday and is set to move to a full floor vote after LGBTQ+ advocates said it would provide support for the community. GOP lawmakers said it was an overstep. “The bill does not require anyone to display rainbows, nor does it supersede policies that prohibit the display of all banners, flags or posters,” said bill author Rep. Leigh Finke, DFL-St. Paul. “It just prohibits rainbows from being singled out and banned in schools, libraries and other government spaces.”  Several states are weighing bills that take the opposite approach and would prohibit pride flags from being flown in classrooms and other settings.  “The rainbow is a sign of hope and affirmation to the 2SLGBTQIA community — my community,” Finke continued. “For those outside of the queer community, it may seem trivial to legislate the definition and presence of rainbows. But in our community, depending on the circumstance, the value of a publicly-visible rainbow on a doorway or window or classroom is literally impossible to overstate.”

Minnesota seems to be competing with Illinois to be the Anti-Florida or Anti-Tennessee of the Midwest. 😎

BTW, in Minnesota the Democrats are known as the DFL for Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party – the result of a party merger in the 1940s.

Minnesota is another example of what can happen when Republicans loose control of a state legislature.

Find out who represents you in your legislature. If it's a MAGA Republican then contact your local or state Democratic Party to ask about helping to flip the district(s) or the entire legislative chamber.
