one more drabble to write and then ill release a series of drabbles known under the plot title of Hide and Seek
the first four drabbles follows Athena Uyilst, Athens' twin sister whom he sent M4NGL3 out to look for, and her escape from the Safari-- a region of Alternia where the Government sends their exiles. They would officially introduce Athena to the blog (i say officially, though Athena has made an appearance before).
These short drabbles deal with a lot of dark themes though and some unsavory material, but I'm hoping they also reflect Athena's state of mind and the dynamic she has with the Hidelord. It's important for later parts of the overall plot.
‘ okay, so... ’ juniper sighed as he uncovered a plastic box with a few pastries he'd been working on, trying to improve his recipe. ‘ this is a cannoli... it's stuffed with ricotta cheese and a bit of cinnamon. ’ putting it on a small plate, he slid it across the table until it was in front of them. ‘ i need your opinion. an honest one, obviously. ’ he asked, sucking on the tip of his thumb, sitting down in front of them with a sweet smile.
— the roses are black and have small chocolate candies placed in the middle of them :)
Roses…?
Someone sent him roses…?
Well, at least they were black. Which probably meant that certain someone wished death upon him, but… He peered closer, getting a whiff of the subtle and pleasant scent that emulated from the bouquet. And nestled in between the beautiful and seemingly vibrant roses, was a small box of chocolates.
Some time later, Mozenrath was in his study and had the bouquet lying next to him on the table. He stood, pin-pointing the next location to dig up on his map, and reached over to the chocolates. A small, genuine smile on his face as he tasted chocolate and gooey caramel.
He’ll have to divine where the flowers came from and thank whoever sent them. An hour with him will no doubt do.
@tanjodos sent a letter: With a quiet groan, Genesis ducked under umbrella. The umbrella was definitely too low but he couldn't afford to let his wet hand touch Christina's subtle hand holding the handle of the umbrella. " I hope you don't wait long. " Genesis' soft voice was definitely a new sound when the rain played its own melody around them. It wasn't strong or gusty. He was nothing more than an intrusive visitor on the way to the theater. " I'm glad we can take a break from our duties together. " His smile expressed more gratitude than he could describe in words. / ayo late weather ask is here
― 🜛 ― Midgars usual bustling noise has transformed its clutter to a soft aria of pitter pattering echoes, with the streets vacated to avoid that flurry of skyward tears ― leaving the scientist alone in her nicest dress, her bare ankles sprinkled by the rain that bounces off the streets. Despite this, it wasn't too bad of an evening ― not to mention she could stand and enjoy the prelude of water upon metal, aluminum, dirt, and the plastic of the large umbrella. Sparkling lights of gold and pastel green were certainly a sight to behold, leaving her to wonder if Genesis would have appreciated it as much as she. And speaking of Genesis, she couldn't believe it was him that she had been standing out in the rain for.
Such casual talk between the two had led to something so wonderfully out of the ordinary ― a venture beyond the darkened walls of the laboratory, shoulder to shoulder with someone who matched the vigor she bled for the theater. Her coworkers had teased her relentlessly when they'd learned that it was Genesis she'd be spending the evening with, that it was someone so desired and that of all the people in Midgar it would be Genesis that she would get to experience her first date with. Though adamant that it was not a 'date', these cries went completely into the void. Now catching herself in the reflection of a store window, it was more and more apparent that she had dressed for such an occasion.
How else was she meant to look? She couldn't underdress for something as important as the theater! And she couldn't very well do the same for meeting someone she so admired like Genesis! It wasn't her fault she looked like she was trying to impress anyone. Though, that was just it, wasn't it? A plea to impress. So far from her usual uncaring nature to the thoughts of others ( within her field, a devastatingly important practice ) to have gone out of her way to look so nicely for another person, as if she were really on a date.
Silly, very silly, to worry about it ― but she needn't worry any longer, for who else would it be that stepped into the light behind her? A face like that, handsomely glowing behind her, and glowing all the brighter when joining her beneath the umbrella. When he speaks, she gives a shake of the head to indicate that she had not been waiting for him long, and raised the umbrella to accommodate his considerable height. She stepped closer to him, so that he would not be rained on too badly, and just as she wished to avoid his gaze and continue to walk toward the theater like they'd planned, he spoke again.
He was glad. Genesis was glad to have a break, and with her of all people. The very way he spoke it sent a shudder of disbelief down her already shivering body, but, she met his gaze and could look away from him no longer. In that radiant smile he'd blessed her with, she felt herself warming from head to toe. Now she too could smile brightly, warmly, in the hopes of passing along her feelings without a word. But in some ways, it was important to convey those usually silent feelings. Genesis, he deserved to hear them.
" I as well. " she beamed at him, following his lead as they walked. " For you especially, Genesis. It'll be nice not having to worry about anything for an evening, won't it? Haaaah, I'm so excited I can hardly stand still! "
