And thanks to consistent terrible dice rolls and the fact that Diana has both the lowest intelligence AND wisdom stats out of the entire party, we joke that there are no brain cells in that head of hers. Only a hamster trying it’s best.

Without any other context, it does sound like Ouma’s talking about RPGs he likes, to drive the point home. The problem lies with the fact that he’s also talking in meta, regarding the killing game they are playing right then. And if he’s talking like this regarding that, then the same could be said for past RPGs-not saying he was killing of course, because for one, not all RPGs need to involve that, and for another, his group DICE has a rule to not kill.

The second problem, lies with the unknown origin of this worrisome clothing...

...which, if the local anthropologist indicates, is almost certainly a clue by itself. Given Nagisa’s situation - and the way he describes it as uh... ‘funny’ - it’s easy to draw a conclusion that something is up with clownish apparel on Ouma, given that straitjackets are a link to an abusive institution for the mentally ill.

Well, Ouma can say what he likes about those clothes, if he’s not too keen on divulging their origin story...

I hate when wiki pages are locked when they have blatantly incorrect information in them.

none of this is canon, all we know about DICE is that Kokichi is very secretive about them, they are petty pranksters and criminals, and that they are considered his most important people according to the second motive. There is nothing about him wanting to sacrifice his life for them, or how he reacted to the motive, or how loyal DICE truly is to him beyond considering him family.

d&d went well, though it was a lot different than I had played before. the group is super fun and cool tho! I think all of us are used to d&d 5e so when the DM started using pathfinder terms we'd get confused aksjd

It's also a much more hard-core style than any of have played too, which we weren't really expecting but at least the DM warned us in the middle of battle.

King Dice and Chef Saltbaker were roommates in college, that frequently tried to kill each other.

Picture this: it's been a long day of class, and Saltbaker is just counting the seconds until he can go back to his dorm, right?, and the night before, he made the upmost bussin Mac 'n Cheese, like it was gonna be perfect, it had melted partisan cheese on top, with the perfect distribution of seasonings and spices, finished with just the right amount of bacon bits

And the thought of it was the only thing getting him through the day, like he is living for those cheesed noodles rn

The bell rings and the students are dismissed. Saltbaker walks back to his dorm, the most happy he's been all day. He had the perfect plan for when he got back to, he was gonna take a shower, eat the Mac 'N Cheese, and take a good ass refreshing nap. But all of that went out the window...

That day just HAD to be the day that King Dice got home before him

#to clarify i am not doing this to be an asshole i am doing it because i had neat dice facts and strong opinions #there's a specific rule about how rolls are resolved if you don't have *anything* in your dice pool #but unfortunately in tough situations (where you'd be cutting the highest 1 or 2 results) #the roll resolution with nothing gives you better odds than mid-tier dice pools. statistically disincentivizing using your skills. #to be fair one can come up with potential narrative and mechanical workarounds as a dm #and it does require your players to either be desperate (not putting together an alternate route) or to have also run the numbers #(and to be willing to use a mechanical loophole) #but as i had neat stats information (hooray!) and one of my favorite activities is rules-lawyering i had to say *something* #anyway! dice-rolling stats are *weird* and vary *wildly* depending on how your system uses them #and a fun and easy thing you can do before playing any new ttrpg is get yourself some dice stats information #familiarize yourself with your odds of success

with all that Emotion out of the way (laura taliesin and liam Obliterated me and im thankful), i...dont know how i feel about the cliff thing? on the one hand when they're all level 20 there's only so many ways to make things truly tense and threatening and it's not unrealistic for sylas to do that, there need to be stakes if you're gonna have a oneshot that isn't just RP and it's an interesting way to put these characters through their paces without many of the items they've come to rely on (and we saw some great creative spell use!).

on the other...maybe i'd feel different if vex hadn't died or if they weren't my faves, i'm fully aware that i'm biased, but it feels like vex (and by extension laura, a bit) really got stripped of a lot of agency, and i dont...know that i really vibe with that at all. it doesn't help that i knew what was coming, but it's just not fun to watch this turn into the death of a character the night before her wedding and she can barely do anything about it, esp with laura basically saying multiple times that she just wants to do something for like an hour. there's just a different vibe between this oneshot and the search for grog/bob; those were a lot more engaging and genuinely fun to watch even though i also knew what was coming there.

i mean obviously it's a moot point, it ended happily and this is a tight-knit group of friends who trust each other implicitly and there's a strong understanding of consent at the table. im not saying anyone's a horrible person for it; im sure if laura was genuinely upset about it she and matt talked about it later, and if she wasn't then who am i to put words in her mouth? it just felt kinda. Hmm. Ionno About That. like, whenever i rewatch this im for sure skipping all that.

(now on another note, having seen it for myself i think the complaints i've read that 'vax took over vex's wedding and made it about himself' are overblown and frankly ridiculous. i thought it was a beautiful and genuinely moving moment and perfect closure and it took exactly the amount of time it needed. i can empathize with the sentiment behind it purely in light of all the time vex spent barely being able to do anything about her own death...but im also inclined to think her Moments against sylas make up for it a bit. gettim bb and drag his ugly ratty wife with him <3)
