hi, love !! i requested a selca ship from you once and i absolutely loved it !! may i request a written ship this time, please? groups would be nct 127, nct dream, and got7 <333
Tumblr media
i’m an extroverted introvert. i’m naturally pretty outgoing and social but i also love being by myself and need alone time to recharge. i’m often mistaken as an extrovert in real life because i’m usually the one approaching people first and initiating or planning hang-outs for my friend groups. i’m pretty cheerful, light-hearted, easy-going, and non-judgemental. i strive for balance in life and i generally dislike conflict although i don’t hesitate to deal with it if necessary. i prefer focusing on the present moment rather than dwelling on the past or trying to forecast the future. for this reason, i can easily detach myself from certain people and situations (for better or for worse lmao). i’m a natural caretaker and i prefer to nurture people in more practical ways like being helpful or giving advice, but i don’t mind just being there for other people although a part of me always wishes i could do more. i may be more of a caretaker with my friends but being the youngest in my family, i do lowkey want to be doted on in private. i romanticize being organized and all but i’m really not :’) i TRY though. i’m also dangerously clumsy; i try and want to become more graceful but my coordination says no :)) i do feel things very deeply but i rarely show that. i prefer to deal with my emotions internally and by myself and then express them later in a more measured, rational, and calm way. i’m very independent and freedom of expression is very important to me and i believe everyone should have a right to that. i adore and appreciate all forms of art, especially written words; i love reading and writing. i just love literature. i also really enjoy aesthetically-pleasing things; i love taking aesthetic photos of nature or even people. self-care is also very important to me; i workout regularly, try to eat healthy, and meditate. i also have an immense love for learning and while a lot of topics interest me, i especially love history. i just find it so fascinating and i love it so much that it makes my heart skip a beat sometimes like i get too excited lmao. my mbti is isfp but i’ve also gotten i/enfp and esfp before (years ago lmao 😂)
Tumblr media
i think that’s it !! thank you so much <333 i hope you’re well. have a wonderful day/night hehe
Hii faye, I’m happy I got to read more about you you seem like your life is full of joy and balance. The long wait is finally over, here goes your ship☺️🧚‍♂️
From NCT 127, I ship you with...Doyoung
Positive Side: Very beautiful love story from start to finish. During resonance promotions he remembered seeing you in the virtual fansign and even though your conversation was only 2 min, he was in lovestruck mode. He wanted to know more about you as a person and he was willing to try anything and do anything to find you. He found you with your group of friends at his favorite coffee shop and noticed how happy you were helping your friends study for their exams and stood out amongst the group yet at the same time wanted some quiet time alone. It took him a lot of courage, but he bumped into you in line and took his chance to confess and ask you out on the spot. It didn’t take long for you to say yes and the rest was history. Your both very natural when it comes to taking care of people around you which is a very good trait to have, because your both capable of providing to each other’s needs. Those simple acts of love such as feeding each other, helping each other through a problem and supporting each other’s achievements are what you both cherish the most. This man is your main model of study when it comes to taking photos so he won’t mind posing for you or even taking pictures together and changing it as his Home Screen on his phone. No worries about slipping on trying to eat healthy because this man is Gordan Ramsey 2.0 and he will help you keep your workout and diet plan together while you help him with your amazing literature skills how to compose better songs for the group.
Negative Side: Not every relationship is perfectly balanced. You both handle conflict in the same way. You obviously express your moods through your expressions if something is not sitting right with you, but then later would prefer to have a private conversation about the problem with that person. In the beginning when you first started dating, Doyoung wanted to have your back in almost any tough situation you were facing, but thre were times that you didn’t want him to fight your battles all the time to save the trouble. For example, if someone based horribly on your writing, Doyoung would defend you and have your back 100% in the most calm and family friendly way possible. It’s not that you don’t want his support in every situation, it’s just you’d prefer him to let you manage on your own and not add more stress into his life by barging in to your problems.
But...: Doyoung knows that he has to take it down a notch and let you face those haters on your own and barge in if needed. He love when you have his back on things, even with silly debates and fights against the members over who didn’t clean the laundry. Whenever he starts seeing you becoming vulnerable with him, he feels very special and is not afraid to help you heal through your experience. Even though sometimes it’ll seem like your both babying each other and snooping up in each other’s business, it’s better to release your emotions better than hiding it.
faye, get your man plsss...😳😳
Tumblr media
From NCT Dream, I ship you with...Jaemin
Positive Side: The ultimate k-drama couple. First of all, your both ambiverts in all your friend groups meaning some days you want to stay behind the scenes other days you both tend to become the star of the show. Very fast you two would develop a friendship and from that point, he already made his mind of making you his one and only. He’s like the mom of Nct Dream taking care of his family, so when he notices how cheerful and light hearted you can be around your family and friends he just melts into a puddle gushing over how adorable you can be. The killer for him is how clumsy you can be. Dropping pans of cookies you just baked or falling in the ice rink when your skating together it just makes him want to protect you and keep you by his side more and more. Jaemin also appreciates your creativity and wants to brag about it to the whole world how talented you are. He’ll always ask you if he can be the first one to read your stories which makes him feel like you hold a special place in heart. He’s also a photographer himself and would be your camera man for when you need photos of yourself or pretty nature images for your Pinterest board. Of course most of the time he would want like 100+ pictures of you and him saved in his phone. Overall your the angel that he’s been waiting for all his life and would do anything to make you stay.
Negative Side: Knowing how charming this beautiful man can be, sometimes his flirting can get out of control. I know it’s just for fan service for the fans to eat up from, but sometimes it can sting a little. Once he was doing a collab stage with a rookie girl group member and they seemed to be pretty playful on stage. It didn’t bother you at first because you understand that this is Jaemin’s job, but it was all until she started to flirt with him and slide her arm on him which started to tick you off. You were pouting from the outside, but on the inside you wanted to go off so you kept your cool until you got home. Of course he tried to cuddle with you and kiss you, but you weren’t having it. He tried to even talk to you in his cute baby tone, but you ended up slamming the door on him and went straight to bed. “It was just a performance princess, nothing more nothing less.” “Try telling that to dispatch when they see you holding hands with that girl.”
But...: Jaemin is aware now that you have feelings to and don’t want to cause all these misunderstandings or else it’ll affect his relationship with you. He knocks softly on your door and carries you out of bed with the sweetest apology proposal with homemade breakfast, balloons with your name in big letters with a heart next to it and a big teddy bear that says I love you. The gesture almost put you to tears and decided that arguing with him over a performance with another woman is pointless to break up over. You give him the biggest smile and give him the tightest hug. “So does that mean you forgive me?” Puckers his lips out cutely begging for a kiss. “Hmmm, sure. Your punishment for now is no kisses for today.” You stuff his mouth with bacon and run off to the living room teasing him. “Ahh I guess I did deserve that huh. At least let me cuddle with you, I didn’t get to do that last night.” Opens his arms running after you in the dorms.
I wanted to ship you with Jeno too, but Jaemin just fit the picture.
Tumblr media
From Got7, I ship you with...Jinyoung
Positive Side: The iconic couple in the music industry. You were Jinyoung’s secret girlfriend that no one knew about of course except for the got7 brothers. Your both very flirty yet friendly towards each other which makes everyone wish they had your kind of relationship. Not to mention your visuals together are insane. You both share you knowledge of literature and read on topics that are beneficial amongst yourselfs. Just like you, he’s willing to research on the latest news that’s going on in the world and later have a intellectual discussion on the topic. I can imagine him reaching out for your help on practicing his lines for his movies/dramas and would even try to reenact kiss scenes with you. With him being the gentleman he is, he naturally wants to save you from your clumsy moments. When your tripping on the carpets, forgetting your umbrella on a rainy day or even have hair in front of your face, he’ll become your fixer upper and provide your needs. He doesn’t mind lending you his umbrella, sliding your hair behind your ears and catching you from falling he’s happy to be your anpaman. He’s so understanding of how much you cherish your privacy because he’s not a clingy person himself, but every once in a while he would love to hold hands with you, pat the top of your head and let you know through words how much he adored you.
Negative Side: In the beginning, it was a challenge to have Jinyoung fall in love with you because as I mentioned earlier, he doesn’t seem like a person who would fall in love easily. He first thought of you as his innocent sister that he wants to protect from all harm and would scare away guys that would try to date you. He’s also very savage when it comes to expressing his love to you so it might come out cold, but that’s not his intentions. For example, if you blow his a kiss, he would act like he’s disgusted and flick it away. He actually loves you blowing kisses at him and would want you to keep doing it. He express his love in a different way even though it might not be the best through his actions.
But...: This man is a living poet and very talented in the arts. Once he realized how much he loved you and wanted to make you his girlfriend, he returned your feelings through a song he written, produced and sung along with his members. He even made a music video about it sharing all the pictures you took of you two together with your permission of course and expressed through his song how happy he was to have you apart of his crazy life and that your the only girl on his life that only made him feel this way. It was your favorite gift from him ever since you made it official.
Tumblr media
Out of everyone, I ship you with...Doyoung

Week 2
Mockup:
During our weekly meeting  I was asked to create two mockup website (one wholesale, One fast fashion). Wholesale buyers must be a registered members, they must be able to login in order to view prices and collections, the website must allows buyers to view videos of each gown,  fast fashion website must be easy to use, easily filtered so buyers can select the products they are after. terms and conditions, return policy, size chart must be cleanly displayed and accessible on each website.
Fast fashion research:
I went through a number of fast fashion websites and their social media accounts, I mainly checked the reach of each post on the social media, numbers of followers and like, as well as looking into the price range that these website offered including  the website layout, I also looked into the online and distance selling rules and regulations, as one of my responsibilities is to draft, return policy, terms and conditions accordingly. I looked at the following fast fashion websites
Fashion Nova
https://www.fashionnova.com
USA based fast fashion clothing.
Operates online as well as five physical stores.
They use social media in particular Instagram.
They generate publicity via a mix of diverse models, celebrities, and daily customers.  Collaboration with celebrities is  one of the main ways for them
to promote their line of fashion.
(About Fashion Nova, 2020)
Tumblr media
Figure one:
Tumblr media
Figure two:
Their website is easy to use and navigate, easy to also filter in order to choose the right products according to size, style, colour as well as the price. Fashion Nova cater to both male and females, they also have a section called curvy which caters to larger size.  I checked the website daily and concluded that stock is added daily and their landing page have different offers daily, their landing page also contain CUSTOMER FAVORITES, which displays their best sellers.
Tumblr media
Figure Three
Discount code, and promotional offers are also used to allow buyers extra discounts, first time 40% discount is available to first time buyers once they sign up.
Their sale section is easy to operate, it allows shoppers to shop according to price and discount percentage.
I also realised that their currency changes according to your location, they had a automatic geographical exchange rate available on the website, their price range were under 100 USD.
Tumblr media
Figure four
Each product has
Name
Full description
Reviews
Tumblr media
Figure five
Costumers are able to select the sizing, also are able to be notified once a sold out item is back in stock, on the product page buyers are able to check basic terms and conditions and shipping time and term.
Tumblr media
Figure six
Going through the website; it is clear that each item is photographed clearly from different angels, looking at models I get the feeling that they are choose according to what kardashian look like and are styled in a similar fashion, Instagram plays an essential point in attracting buys, they use influencers, celebrities as well as followers photos wearing their products , which results in attracting more followers and buyers.
Fashion nova uses the following social media platform, Instagram is the main platform with 18 million followers.
Facebook
Instagram
pinterest
Snapchat
Tiktok
Youtube
Tumblr media
Figure Seven Another fast fashion website I looked at was
Boohoo
https://www.boohoo.com/
Founded in 2006.
UK-based online Fast fashion retailer.
Targets at 16–30 year old.
According to guardian in 2014 their average price was £17 (Wood, 2014).
They sell clothing to over 100 countries.
They  purchase  Stock in small quantities of between 300–500 items, ans they repeat orders for best seller by 25% (Wood, 2014).
Similarly to fashion nova, boohoo uses social media as their main part of marketing strategy.
They cater to both Male and female.
As well as clothing they also do Shoes and accessories as well as Beauty.
They use Hashtags, in order to reach buyers and attracting more followers on social media platform.
Tumblr media
Figure Eight
The website seems to follow a pastel colour set, As with fashion nova, they have a simple clear logo and typography.
Tumblr media
Figure Nine
Categories and sub-categories are clear, Costumer can easily filter according to their needs, which include size, style and discount.
Tumblr media
Figure Ten Photos of all products are available from different angel, There is a link where costumer can view the size chart, the costumer can also pay using different methods spreading the cost of the item.
Tumblr media
Figure Eleven
Buyers are able to to select currency accordingly.
Again same as fashion nova the footer contain all terms of sells as well as essential links that gives buyers more information about the company. over all website is easy to use and navigate. Boohoo Uses Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, The fix, Snap chat, Pinterest and tiktok they have 6.4m followers on Instagram.
While looking at boohoo’s background I found out they own the following fashion companies boohooMAN, PrettyLittleThing, Nasty Gal and MissPap, all of which targets at 16–24 year old and all of their ventures have been steadily growing through years (group overview, 2020).
Another fashion website i looked at was Asos
ASOS
https://www.asos.com
Asos is NOT a Fast fashion retailer, they are multiple brand website, which also carries their own range of clothing and accessories, and ships worldwide.
Was founded in 2000
Originally only sold imitations of clothing Worn by celebs, However they no longer have that approach.
Asos uses Facebook, Instagram and snap chat as main social media platform.
Tumblr media
Figure twelve
looking at Asos, website seems easy to use, categories ans sub categories are clear, terms and conditions are clear, however i personally do not find the website appealing.  I Also looked at their social media pages they have 10.2 million followers on Instagram. they do mot use the Kardashian look like models on their website which I find really appealing, they also carry modest clothing which is appealing to certain cultures and region.
Tumblr media

Meeting:
On Thursday I had a meeting with my supervisor to discuss the website design, colours, categories and sub categories for the website, I showed him the research I did, I also made a basic mock up using Photoshop, So I started a coming soon web-page for MDNA MODA.
Workshop:
Although my main responsibility here is create website ans social media presence I asked my supervisor if i could work couple of days a week on the workshop floor, as i would like to learn about the production process as well. He agreed for me to be on the workshop floor each Thursday and Friday .I must add where i work not many of the personals speak English, They mainly speak Turkish or Arabic, I am familiar with both langues to an extended.
I started with pattern makers, I was introduced to Hatice, she was in charge of patterns making, she works with two other girls, she spoke a little English and we used google translate a lot as well. Hatice studied at İstanbul Moda Akademisi after her graduation 6 years ago she started working here as basic machinist. She explain to me they have certain patterns (Basic block) ready for different sizes and they use those mainly, however she also explained to  Pattern making is the connection of design to production by creating paper templates, they use pattern software (CLO) to make pattern.
Tumblr media
Figure Fourteen
I have to add here i have zero understating of patterns and how they are made using software so it was good for me to be able to spend some time with the team and understand the process.

“A man created the first camera in order to capture the beauty and essence of the woman and the female form. I’m just going back to the original intent of the camera.”
~Ferdinand the Photographer~
I think one of the main struggles I have in releasing my sexual goddess is overcoming the idea that my body isn’t wrong. It’s not a barrier. Nor is it a stumbling block. It’s actually art. I am art. And I wanted–craved–the opportunity for my body to be seen from the eye of an artist. I remember walking through the Louvre Museum in Paris almost 2 years ago and thinking that I could be them if my body wasn’t wrong. There were countless statues and paintings of women and they were beautiful. I was just wrong. But deep down, I had hope that maybe the way I saw my body was wrong and not my body itself. I wanted to be incorrect about my body thesis, but didn’t know how to adjust it or throw it away altogether. I wanted to see something different. I knew I had to see it to believe it to change it this time. I needed empirical evidence in order to change my mind about the body I tow around. Someone needed to help me on this journey and help free me of my inner shame and virgin trauma.
So I was minding my own business and decided to start swiping. I usually swipe right on the white ones, most of the Black ones, all the pilots. This one caught my eye cuz he just looked hella regular, but also like he had an inner spice to him. Something about the button-up, tucked in shirt with brown belt made me think that there was more to him than met my eye. Totally like the trash-ass book 50 Shades of Grey. I liked it and I was intrigued. I make my best and worst life decisions when intrigued.
Ding! He immediately writes back. What a change. He was friendly with several exclamation points, exuding a non-asshole temperament, shared that he’s not interested or looking for a relationship, but he’s an erotic nude photographer and would like to take photos of me.
Me: Well, why the hell not!
We meet in his hotel. Because of the Coronavirus, we had to register me at the hotel. I was worried they wouldn’t let me in! Front Desk guy asks what I’m here for and my Tinder Photographer says, “Oh, she’s only going to be here for one or two hours.”
OMG! The whole front desk thinks I’m a prostitute! How embarrassing. I just stare back in my “Well, what he said” face cuz I’m working on not needing to prove my self or ethic to folks that don’t matter.
We go up to the ninth floor. I wonder about what kind of small talk to make in an elevator when you’re about to be very naked in less than 5 minutes. I guess the weather is a suitable topic.
Cloudy.
As soon as I walk in, I scan for sketch things like cameras, odd odors, drugs, copious amounts of alcohol, blood stains. I’d really rather this not be my last day on earth. Also, my first nude photo shoot left me traumatized, but that’ll be saved for another blog entry.
Ferdinand rushes in and starts moving furniture frantically and with intention. I’m standing there for 2.5 seconds like, “Oh. I guess this is when I take my clothes off…” As he scoots around and checks lighting and makes his plan for the photo shoot, I disrobe and unleash my floppy boobs. When I uncupped my breasts, I thought he would quit what he was doing and lick his lips or something. He didn’t. I slowly took off my undershorts and thought maybe this would be the time for him to be annoying and borderline gross–make a gesture or remark of my pubic hair or use his spidey-sense or fingers to check my wetness. Ferdinand never stares at me like I’m a piece of meat ready to be demolished. I was butt ass naked but still shrouded in my dignity somehow.
As discussed before, all photos were to be taken on my iPhone 7. I didn’t really know how good the photos would be cuz I’m 3 generations behind and only know how to do regular shit on my phone. I hand it over and he starts snapping. I could hear the dull tapping that a phone makes when someone presses the screen to take a photo. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary and I thought they were just regular pictures. I really really hope this isn’t going to be a waste of my time. Cuz I mean, I am a bit obsessed with nude photography and have high standards for this art form. But also, maybe he’ll do suck photos and then ask for a fuck later as a thank you. I was prepared for suck pictures, a fuck, and a lip-lick throughout as icing on the cake.
A bit lost at first, I just stand there. I don’t do well exposed or dancing. I need specific instructions. The whole free idea really stresses me out cuz it’s just too many choices and I get overwhelmed. He gives no instructions at first. In my head I’m like, “Lemme just put my forearm on the window ledge and look contemplative at the clouds.” I saw that on Pinterest once and it looked nice. That was my first pose before Ferdinand started giving me directions.
Sit here. Stand. One leg up. Cross your leg. Lean back. Lean forward on your knee. Let’s move this chair. Oh the natural lighting is going away. Face the window. Hands up. Arch your back. Open your legs wider.
Spread your lips.
More.
We took photos next to the window. Sitting on the ottoman. On the floor. In the corner. In the bathtub. Shower. Legs up. Legs out. Breasts covered. Breasts hanging. Clit peeking out.
It was intense. We take a break and he shows me the pictures and I almost burst into tears. I’m not wrong. I’m art. I look like I was made on purpose. By design. Not a single centimeter out of order. My breasts and thighs and hips, buttocks and back chub and belly pudge and knees and ankles and neckline, arm crease and wrists and fingernails made sense. My pubic hair framed my lips which framed my clit. How had I not seen this before?
Speechless. I made myself speechless.
We make a plan for the rest of our time together. He asked about what other poses and focus areas. I tell him that when I get nervous I do this stupid grin that I hate and it ruins photos. I look for the stupid grin and ask him to do those ones again. I want more of my nipples and areolas. My collarbone cuz it’s my favorite. More next to the brown hallway cuz I think it’s a nice contrast to my skin tone. He wants to try a tiny complimentary hotel red and yellow apple next to my clitoris.
In the middle of Part 2, he gets a phone call from the front desk. He sounds patient answering their questions. I stretch my back with my fingers gracing the floor. I hear that same dull tapping as he snaps a few photos. The lighting is great. Those were a couple of my favorite shots. That’s when I started to get aroused. I couldn’t help myself. My cheeks were getting rosy and my clitoris started to swell. I felt seen like a masterpiece in Madrid.
He gets off the phone and tells me to stay in that position–back arched, toes and fingers touching opposite floor ends. A lazy rainbow assisted by an ottoman if you will. He says he wants to take pictures of my mons pubis. OH LORD JESUS IS THIS BIOLOGY CLASS??!!! What in the world is a..then he inches closer to my v-line and I’m like, “Ooohhhh, well why did he just say the front hair part!” I totally forgot that it had a name. He knew the name. Other men I’ve slept with don’t even know the names of female anatomy–calling lips my vagina and shit. Ferdinand knew the woman’s body intimately without fucking me all because he had studied many and observed them through so many lenses over the years. I get more aroused.
He then says we need to do some pictures that exude **he pauses and thinks** pleasure. By now, I’m trying not to be breathless. I’m ovulating so I’m pretty moist already. It doesn’t take much. He places me near the bed lamp and says to touch myself.
Masturbate with an audience of one. Got it.
I slip my fingers between my lips and lost my breath. He took pictures of my circular motions as I played with my lips and clitoris. After him naming the scientific name of the “front hairy part” and him not licking his lips when I disrobed and him studying my body to grab her essence from the pit of virginal shame, they were begging for attention and finally got some. I reached a pretty deep breath and a low moan. He says I can go ahead and finish if I wanted and then just walks away giving me privacy to be with myself and my feminine energy.
I wasn’t ready to go deeper with my audience of one. Next time, absolutely. That was the one time I actually got scared. What if I go there and can’t get back? What if I like having an orgasm in front of an audience and I can’t replicate that experience ever again and then can’t orgasn ever again? What if this is when he goes ape-shit crazy? I wasn’t ready to be post-orgasm vulnerable. I knew I would want to be cuddled or to ride the wave of the cum. But we had more work to do. So I pulled myself back and my body was deeply sad. She was ready, but I was not.
I didn’t orgasm that time but I could have. Next time. Maybe when I have the iPhone 8 I’ll cum and he can get it on camera. After getting close to an orgasm, I sauntered into a few more poses–a little high off my own libido and ready to finish strong.
He asks if I want anything else. He’d taken almost 350 photos. I’m satisfied. He’s satisfied. I tell him I need to charge my phone for about 30 minutes.
I have so many questions. Like, how and why nude photography? Why women? Must the nude photography be done with a model that the photographer is sexually attracted to? Does the photographer’s sexual orientation and preference matter when choosing gender of the model?
He wants to hear my story. Where I am in my journey. Maybe he cares. Maybe he doesn’t. Perhaps that Spanish politeness coming through? I share anyway. Speaking and having him listen intently was like salve to a purity culture wound. He offered no advice or sage wisdom or encouragement. Just an occasional nod of attentiveness and full, deep eye contact where he saw my essence. And I let him. I gave him the heaviness of my vulnerability and he held it safely for me.
As I charged my phone, we talked. I kept waiting for him to lean over and let me infer that it was coital payment time now. I braced myself for the beckon and it never came. I wasn’t brave enough to ask if he felt the sexual tension at any time during the photo shoot. I sure did. But if we would have fucked, it would have ruined the sacred space of me and him together making art. It would have brought down the innocence and raw eroticism down to dirt level and left me shrugging my shoulders and figuring out when I could fuck my next one.
As my battery revived itself, I was still nude. But somehow, I wasn’t butt-ass naked. I’ll have to ponder the difference between the two in a later blog, but they are truly not the same. The whole time I sat on the couch, my hands gracing my thighs, breasts displayed, and body finally resting, his eyes never left mine. He could very well have stared at my exposed areolas or the haired triangle–my mons pubis–and imagined himself between my legs like every other guy, but he had the dignity, the audacity, and the reverence of the woman and feminine energy to not. I felt that and it almost made me weep again and get to an even deeper level of healing for my wounded soul. He had literally seen and snapped shots of my sacred spaces, gotten mere inches to be counted on 1 hand not 2 away from my treasures. I extended trust to him and he offered strong, safe hands to hold my vulnerability and sacred woundings. Time stood still and I inched my way further down my path towards healing and art and beauty and voice and honor and dignity and grace.
I’m not sure if I’ll ever meet Ferdinand again. I would love to take more pictures with him. I mean, I messaged him and did my best to beg and plead for another chance. I even said that I would shave if he brought his good camera. And y’all THAT is true dedication cuz me and my leg and pussy hair are real close.
Not fucking made me sit and be completely. Be all the things. I couldn’t run and hide behind fucking and flipping from position to position almost robotically. I didn’t fake an orgasm. I didn’t wonder why the guy didn’t care that I hadn’t cum. I brought my whole self in a way that I hadn’t in other sexual encounters. This photo shoot was somehow deper and more intimate than sex and I will wonder how and why it was like that for years to come.
That day, I learned, I need nothing else to be beauty. Nothing more to be art. Just me and my body.
Just me and my art.
Thanks Ferdinand. I’m glad I swiped right on you.

Dior’s Latest Feminist Uniform Is Cool, But Who’s Buying It?
Tumblr media
PARIS, FRANCE – FEBRUARY 25: (EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Models walk the runway during the Dior show as part of the Paris Fashion Week Womenswear Fall/Winter 2020/2021 on February 25, 2020 in Paris, France. (Photo by Stephane Cardinale – Corbis/Corbis via Getty Images)
Flashing in red, yellow, and green, three neon signs shouting CONSENT hung from the ceiling at the Bassin De L’Octogone in Paris’ Jardin des Tuileries. The floor was covered in newspaper print. Around the huge, octagonal space were even more brightly lit signs reading: “PATRIARCHY = C02” and “PATRIARCHY = REPRESSION,” as well as “WHEN WOMEN STRIKE THE WORLD STOPS,” “FEMININE BEAUTY IS A READY-MADE,” and, most puzzlingly, “WE ARE ALL CLITORIDIAN WOMEN.”
The space quickly filled with celebrities and fashion people for Dior’s fall ’20 show. A young man in black helped me find my seat. As we walked across the floor, he asked in a charming French accent, “Do you know what it means? ‘Patriarchy equals C02’?” I laughed nervously. He said, “I don’t think I agree with this messaging. Do you?”
The pavilion felt more like an arena than a runway, more conducive to a showdown between gladiators rather than models showing off next season’s fashions. But even if there weren’t any people about to engage in battle, those signs displayed fighting words: Flashing insistently overhead, the messages were impossible to ignore, an advertisement in the language of resistance. But, against what? It was unclear. Show notes revealed that “Clitoridian” was a tongue-and-cheek reference to Freud’s writing on clitoral orgasms, while “Patriarchy = C02” attributes climate change to male oppression. It was all a little Women’s Studies 101 by way of Pinterest signage. And yet, in a fashion month that was alarmingly light on real feminist messages, it felt like a relief to have the opportunity to think and ultimately talk about the problems of our times rather than just ignoring them.
Tumblr media

And what are the biggest problems we’re facing? Consent, yes; climate change, definitely. But also, as I watched the models — all of them young and thin — marching beneath words related to power and pleasure, I found myself thinking about a different problem altogether: the hypocrisy of consumerist feminism. Because, this runway show sent a slightly different message than its designer and creative director Maria Grazia Churi intended: Empowerment, sure, but for whom?
Pop feminism — derisively called T-shirt feminism by critics — has become core to Dior’s brand under the creative direction of Churi, whose controversial $710 “We Are All Feminists” tees became a symbol of this consumer trend. And these signs, created by artist Claire Fontaine (and clearly inspired by artist Jenny Holzer’s text-based installations) were emblematic of this post-2016 identity. Meanwhile, the clothes themselves were a continuation of menswear references and school-boy cues like shrunken ties and tweed jackets, with repeating motifs like checks and, of course, fringe (find me a fall 2020 runway without fringe — I’ll wait). It was all very wearable, and certainly commercially viable, but I didn’t see anything that was as radical or insistent as the flashing words above it.
What did feel meaningful were the shoes, which were nondescript and utilitarian, and mainly came in flat combat boots and simple leather slides. The lack of heels was a feminist statement in and of itself, perhaps hinting at a new purpose for luxury, one that prioritizes practicality. Most notably, there were no show-stopping looks, no major closing gown moment — a metaphor for equality.

It remains to be seen whether the connection between Dior’s styling and feminist messaging will become more than just slogans. Can a luxury brand ever be truly feminist? I’m not sure. By definition, luxury is inaccessible, a fact that makes it inherently at odds with feminism’s core value of equality for all people, full stop. And then there’s the fact that despite the clear climate change reference, there was no information about the brand’s plan to become more sustainable. If the show’s point was to call out patriarchy, its choice to exclusively cast young, thin, normatively beautiful models was a tacit endorsement of the patriarchy’s oppressive ideas of what ideal women should be. Promoting consent is better than not doing so, but what would be even better is if the women modeling the clothes — who, we have to assume, are supposed to embody the messages that hung above them — were of different ages and body types. Surely plus-sized women and older women deserve consent and clitoral orgasms, too.
In 2019, Dior’s revenue was up 15% from the previous year. At a time when luxury brands are struggling to reach younger customers, Dior’s “We Should All Be Feminists” approach does seem to be attracting the kind of consumer who wants her clothes to reflect a political message. It’s also possible that corporate ideas of empowerment, and Dior’s feminism in particular, has become so commercially and aesthetically palatable that its political messaging has grown nearly meaningless, even for women who wouldn’t have described themselves as feminists a decade ago. For some, empowerment might mean nothing more than “I like being a young, thin, normatively beautiful woman.” And whether or not selling feminist-inspired fashion to feminist-curious women actually promotes the goals of feminism is another story.
Like what you see? How about some more R29 goodness, right here?

8-step Path: How To Build Up Skills And Portfolio Effectively
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hustle is always present, lots of good stuff are being missed and it feels like you´re never there where you should be. Sound familiar? To me it does. If you are or want to be a maximizer of efficiency and you got a hint of an engineer within you, this article is for you.
youtube
I´m a part-time photographer-entrepreneur. I got a good amount of gigs and in my spare time I rarely get a grasp with photography even if I should. But why should I?
Knowledge + portfolio = High-performance
Your know-how is already at the point you can charge your customers. Does it mean you are ready as a photographer? Every self-respecting photographer knows the answer but to be on the safe side: no, you aren´t. Now, think your time consumption. How much time do you use in learning new things? Let me guess, not enough. Should you? Definitely yes.
Portfolio is the thing why your clients want you. They don´t pay you for using the newest camera bodies and lenses nor they pay you because you have the tag Photographer in front of your name (sure they do sometimes…). Your client likes what you produce and wants the same outcome.
Like I already painted the dark skies of hustle and hurry, now we are getting in the core of the problem. How do I find all the time for customers to be satisfied, for development as a photographer and building up an awesome portfolio? Problem solved: start being a full-time photographer. But what if that´s not possible? Do I have to dig down my high hopes as a part-time photographer?
How to improve efficiently?
If you’re photographing much just for fun and keep doing these Sunday-funday -shoots without planning and keep ranting about it, there’s the most important thing to do at first: stop it. You’re waste you’re time, if your goal is progression.
I have set goals and to achieve those goals I have reconstruct a productive habit. The pattern is the same every time.
Steps I used in 1960´s themed photo shoot: 1. Decide your battles
Spotting many little things here and there is educational but you aren’t learning anything deeply. Take one thing, two things at a time, concentrate on those as long as you can put it into practice.
60´s shoot battles: Moody lightning and coloring in editing.
2. Study the tactic
Two-minute tutorials may work if things to be learned are small enough, but bigger issues need more time. Read, watch, reflect, discuss, repeat. Book time for this. Give yourself a license to leave smaller time-for-portfolio -gigs aside. Bonus tip: Quit complaining about time. Complaining is a real time-eating-monster.
Tutorials I watched just before I decided to make themed photoshoot:
AliasEdu presents Iiro Rautiainen: Moody Lightning. (Sorry it´s only in Finnish.
RGG EDU: Kate Woodman, The Science of Color
3. Contemplate your goals
Decide a theme for your photoshoot where you want to put everything learned into practice. Think over what kind of photos you want to show. What kind of photography do you want to make in the future? Show what you got, do what you are able to.
Sometimes the inspiration is just around the corner! When Tiina sent me these, I knew what I was going to do.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also try to plan to color I’m going to use in photos.
Pinterest is my walk-through -application. I plan all my theme shoots with it.
Tumblr media
4. Gather your team
I could never do a single portfolio photo without my team. Before my team consisted of me and a model but after this 60´s-themed photo shoot I realized I´ve been missed one third: make-up and hair specialist. The team brings together thoughts and visions and strengthens your plans.
Tumblr media
Awesome team of the sixties shoot: Make-up artist Laura Hänninen and model Tiina Winter
5. Blueprint again
I cannot emphasize enough the significance of planning. Blueprint your photos while makeup-artist is doing her magic. It can be frames on your mind, stick-figure sketches on a paper, whatever suits you. However, be free to shoot frames outside your blueprint. There might be some diamonds to take off.
Tumblr media
6.Execute patiently
You have an idea, team, and props. Your team has made an enormous job for you. Don´t blow up by just popping up and start photographing with a hustle. Breathe. Go through your target and imagine finished photos in your mind. Do not hurry because you have all the time in the world (as a matter of fact you don´t. The model might have a tight schedule but don’t let it bother you, work precisely!). Put the final touches in lightning and remember to check final result now and then.
I want my team to feel good at the photoshoot. Music and food; those lead you long! In this photoshoot we got in the right mood with Nancy!
7. Finish with quality
If you used new techniques in the photo shoot, the most exciting work is executed. For maximizing the efficiency, I usually study two different themes: one related to photographing or lightning itself and one to editing in Adobe Photoshop. Those two are usually separated from each other so you can concentrate on both powerfully. There are always things to do better in editing photos. Do not settle for mediocre. If you think now it’s good enough, ask yourself: Good enough for what? Why is it not perfect? What could I do to make it better? If the reason is something you can correct, do it. If not, remember it next time and do it better! Of course, you have to remember “the best” is always an objective way to see things.
8. Sharing is learning
Introduce your work. Tell the audience what, why and how you did it. At the same time, you´re being helpful, nurturing your network and reinforce learned things. Did you do something wrong you should consider doing otherwise in next photoshoot?
The final results after these steps:
Tumblr media
Expectations
Tumblr media
The Frustration
Tumblr media
The Verdict
If you proceed this path time after time, it´ll first end up being a habit and eventually, it´ll be your ritual.

Pioneer Spotlight: Monica Ahanonu
Tumblr media
As you may know, at P.MAI we continue to feature “role models” rather than “fashion models.” Monica Ahanonu is no exception. It’s hard not to develop a girl-crush on Monica, the LA-based animator for Dreamworks. Her unique style is enviable, and her playful outlook on life is a reminder us all to make time for what’s important. We were thrilled to work with her on a shoot and sat down with her to learn more about where her talents came from and what’s next.
1. Tell us a little about yourself—where you grew up (family, environment) and how that helped shape who you are.
I grew up in Tucson, Arizona.  Very grateful that I grew up in a smaller city which forced me to be creative to entertain myself.  I have three siblings: two brothers and one sister.  My sister is the oldest, then my older brother, then me and then my younger brother.  My mom is very creative and I don’t think I realized how creative she is until I got older and began to question where my creative mindset came from.  I definitely feel that my mom was a big influence in my creativity and staying a creative throughout my life.  She was creative in the way that she would improvise and create new dishes for us kids such as making her own popsicles for us. When I was having trouble with my outfit, had to dress up for school, or struggled with a science project, she was always incredibly creative and helped me pull something together for whatever project or birthday party I was attending.
My dad built computers and had his own computer business throughout my childhood.  I became very knowledgeable about computers, problem solving technical issues and learning many computer programs at a young age.  Another part of my childhood that shaped who I am was my competitive gymnastics career. I did competitive gymnastics throughout my childhood up until my junior year of high school. I had to stop because my parents felt I had too many injuries (which I did) although at the time I didn't think so.  I was a very active child because of my intense gymnastics schedule / natural crazy energy as well as a creative child. At the time I didn't realize that, but looking back I was always making calendars or brochures or cards for friends on the computer.  I loved taking photos, making up dances, writing my own TV scripts and then filming my own TV shows with our video camera, or drawing my own magazines.
Tumblr media
2. What kind of career goals did you have growing up? How did they evolve? Did you always wanted to study art?
I wanted to be a photographer for many years. I also wanted to star in my own TV show and would often take my parents’ video camera to record myself.  I would write the scripts and plan the locations around our house or neighborhood. I will admit, I did fake being sick a few times when I was in elementary school and middle school so that I could stay home and record my TV shows.  It was quite a thing— I still can’t believe I did that.
My interests evolved towards animation when I got into graphic design and taught myself how to use Photoshop so I could build fan sites for various Disney actresses I was obsessed with.  During the summer between 8th and 9th grade, I had surgery on both of my feet.  I had to sit around for 2 months while I was in a wheelchair.  So during this time, I taught myself how to animate gymnastics routines since I wasn’t able to do them physically during that time. These were my first attempts at animation and I grew more proficient in Photoshop and Premiere.
Tumblr media
3. What has been one of your biggest career challenges? How did you overcome it?
My biggest career challenges so far have been making the leap from being on the production side of the animation industry to the artistic side.  Another career challenge I have been trying to keep on top of is seeing myself as a real person that is no longer in school.  I did so many internships in school and am so used to being told what is right and wrong and that I often forget that I have control over a lot of the artistic decisions I am making while I am at work or doing freelance.  I’ve gotten a lot better, but it is something I had to get used to when I was first hired as a full-time artist at DreamWorks Animation.  Other than that, I am still working on a lot of career challenges of figuring out where my personal artistic style fits best and what I am going to do with it as I move forward.
4. Your animated work is phenomenal and we’ve been girl-crushing on your style. Where do you go for inspiration to keep ideas fresh?
I look at fashion a lot for inspiration whether from Pinterest, in the books I have at my apartment or on Instagram.  If I see a pair of shoes that I think are super odd or interesting in the way they are designed, I may try to do an outfit based on some element from those shoes that stood out to me.
I often let my mind wander and daydream. I will look at an object around me and imagine it in a direction that would seem unnatural or odd such as, “What if this was the silhouette of a shoe, what would the shoe look like? How would someone be able to walk in a shoe that had such a silhouette?” Or “What if this silhouette was a face, or someone's body, etc.” then see where it takes me.
I might ask myself what if a common object was a different color or texture. Sometimes I create a challenge where I try to design something seemingly unrecognizable by altering some of its details but leave enough clues so people can still able to figure it out. I definitely get a lot of ideas and inspiration from day dreaming and the dreams I have at night.
“A lot of my style is from intuition and working on things and playing with shapes and colors until they feel balanced or satisfy something inside of me that I really can’t fully pinpoint.”
Tumblr media
5. Are there lessons or principles from art/design that you apply to your everyday life?
Being creative in the way that I dress, the way that I live my life and by not living a monotonous life, living it in color with variety, designing my days, designing a workout routine, staying curious about the world around me and the people I come in contact with.  I don't really like to wear the same thing twice because it gives me a challenge in the morning, forcing me to be creative and play with color, composition and silhouette which I love.
6. What are some of your favorite places to eat in Los Angeles? To shop? To learn?
SHOP:  Wasteland, Crossroads, Rosebowl Flea Market, Fairfax Flea Market, Owl Talk
EAT: Umami burger, Nobu in malibu, Ysabel, Sugarfish, I recently got into ramen - there are some good places in the Sawtelle area of LA - then of course Din Tai Fung and Milk Jar Cookies are great as well.
LEARN: The Broad or any of the museums around town, Wacko’s in Silverlake has a lot of fun stuff, Gallery Nucleus has great art shows/exhibits. I also learn from those I meet at various activities around town; I am part of a small group for young professionals and entrepreneurs and learn a lot during the dinners we have each month.
7. What are you most excited about this year?
New opportunities, change, exploring and collaborating, continuing to expand my personal artwork and discover new areas that I am able to mix it with.  Travel - I plan to go to Tokyo this year with my brother and possibly Cape Town as well.  I am excited for new visuals and inspiration I can gather to create new art and perhaps take my style in a new direction!
Tumblr media
8. Finally: How do you carry on beautifully? (This is our motto and can be interpreted in different ways.)
I carry on beautifully by continuing to make sure that I am happy and excited about life. If I am in a rut, then I work towards fixing it by exercising, which helps me clear my mind and allows me to be creative again.   It’s also important to allow myself to play!  I feel we forget to do so once we get older.

ON VIDEO- [Teaching below] .Prophet pronounces judgment on authority .The same dynamic in my current Acts study .Authority figure goes after the prophet .The authority figure gets judged .The prophet prays for him .The false prophet shows up .Did he know he was prophesying a lie? .Or was he just comfortable with religious ‘speak’? .The money gospel .Death Penalty case
Numbers 24:17 I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.
NOTE- I commented on the death penalty case of a brother of a girl I know- At the time I made this video- I thought there were 2 different brothers that were put to death. I have since commented about it on my roll-outs and clarified it- this person who was put to death had a stay of execution in 2015- he was put to death later- the same brother.
I taught this chapter years ago and will post that below.
TEACHING [Past posts below]
Just a few notes- We see a young prophet speak the Word of the Lord to Jeroboam- and it comes to pass now- and then.
Yes- there was the sign of the broken altar that happened this day- and some 300 years later the person the younger prophet spoke about- by name- Josiah- will fulfill the rest of the prophecy. We also see an older prophet- who will ‘prophesy ‘a lie.
The older prophet might have even believed the lie- but it was not the Word of the Lord. I shared how this dynamic is seen in our day- with some TV preachers who seem to say ‘the Lord is saying…’- and it usually applies to calling their phone line- and giving money- on some sort of a deadline.
I think they do not see they have become too comfortable saying ‘the Lord says’- and in this chapter that’s what we see with the older prophet. Yet he will also prophesy the truth- which was a judgment on the younger prophet- for listening to the false prophecy of the older prophet!
Yes- the old prophet will actually function in the true gift of prophecy- right after he ‘functioned ‘in a false one. These are just a few things I covered on the video- I’m not even sure if I taught that in my past teachings below-
I usually just add those sections from my old teachings- and don’t have time to review them. God bless all- John

(1062) 1st KINGS 13- Jeroboam is confronted by a prophet as he is worshiping at the idol/altar in Bethel. The prophet gives a significant word, he mentions by name a future king [Josiah] who God is going to raise up to institute reform in the nation. When someone’s name is prophesied before their birth, that is a special anointing. Both Jesus and John the Baptist had stuff like this surrounding their births. Now Jeroboam stretches out his hand against the prophet, God curses his hand and the prophet prays for him and he gets healed. Jeroboam invites him to stay for a meal and the young prophet says ‘no, God told me not to stay and eat here’. On his way home an older prophet invites him to come back and eat with him, he tells the young prophet ‘I too am a prophet and the Lord told me for you to “eat and sit at my table’” [a type of fellowship]. Now, the old prophet lied, why? It seems as if he did not do this on purpose, he heard the story about the young man, possibly remembered the glory days of old and simply wanted the fellowship. As the young prophet ‘sits at the table of deceit’ the word of the Lord comes to the old prophet and says ‘because you disobeyed and stayed and ate, you will die’. The old prophet gave a true word and the young prophet leaves and is killed by a lion. His ‘movement’ died prematurely because he ‘sat’ at the table of deceit and disobeyed God. A few things; many years ago as I saw certain things going off track with certain movements [prosperity] I saw things that seemed to be fake, brothers sharing dreams and prophetic words that seemed false. Yet I felt these brothers weren’t doing this on purpose, that in some way they fell into a trap of wanting to be involved and accepted by their peers. And when confronted by real reproofs, they simply retreated into their own groups and refused the reproof. There are things like this happening now with certain elements of the modern prophetic movement. In the above story, the older prophet meant no harm, but yet harm was done! The younger prophet wasn’t there [in Bethel] to rebuke the old man, he was simply carrying the torch of prophetic rebukes that were needed at times. The mistake the younger generation made was being too willing to ‘sit and eat’ at the old mans table. I believe that certain elements of the older ‘prophetic’ movements need to be abandoned and left alone to die [false doctrines, not people!]. Those who walk in wisdom and obedience will refuse to ‘sit and eat at the old mans table’ and those who decide to stay at the table will die prematurely [that is their ministries and movements will be cut short] which group are you in? (1289) 2ND KINGS 23:1-28 Josiah institutes the reforms that he learned when ‘re-reading’ the lost law of God. He tore down all remaining vestiges of the idolatrous high places. He reinstituted the Passover celebration and he dug up the bones of the false prophets and burned them on their own altars [ouch!]. A few things; in the New Covenant the Passover represents the new community life that we all share in Christ. In Corinthians Paul says ‘Christ our Passover was sacrificed for us’ and when he teaches the Lord’s supper he does it in a communal way, it’s not just a liturgical Mass type of a thing [or a Protestant time for grape juice servings!] but the Lords meal was more of a buffet type atmosphere and the idea was based on a community model. So I think one of the lessons we learn from the reforms of Josiah is God wants to restore ‘the communal Passover- meal’ or that God is challenging many current concepts of church and as we ‘re-read’ our New Testaments we are seeing the church [ecclesia] again ‘for the first time’. Number 2- it sure seemed a little drastic to have dug up the bones of the false priests and to have burned them on their altars! As we went thru this Kings study we covered the fact that Israel permitted certain wrong things to exist for various reasons. Many people eventually associated their worship of God with these idolatrous practices. These were good people who received these wrong ideas from previous ‘leaders’. Josiah fulfilled a prophecy given 300 years earlier that someday the bones of the false priests would be burned on their altars. To me this represents the need for believers in our day to be willing to look at some of the erroneous doctrines of past movements [remember, idolatry in the new Testament is covetousness, people who love and seek wealth!] and to realize that many of these un balanced teachings came from wrong things that were taught and accepted in the past. Things taught by good people, people who meant well, but wrong never the less. The ‘digging up of the bones’ represents the process of going back and doing a little history on some of these things and finally once and for all setting the record straight. All in all Josiah instituted more reform than any other king before him, he was the only king to restore the Passover, he had the courage to see things for the first time and to act in a righteous way before God. His reforms were great, but they came too late in Judah’s history to prevent final judgment, as a nation they dug themselves too deep of a hole and they were going to suffer for it whether they liked it or not. God is merciful, his mercies are new every morning, but when nations go down long paths of disrespecting human life; of mocking God and Christian principles [not right wing stuff!] then we can’t keep thinking that all will go well, that the recession will turn out just fine. No, there are many things not ‘just fine’, as an economy it is foolish to think that we can have 10.2 % unemployment and still have a jobless recovery. When the jobless rate is that high, and going up, then who are all the people that will be buying and spending and working and doing all the things that are part of a recovery? We are kidding ourselves when we think like this. Josiah did some good stuff, but the people needed to change course a long time ago, it was too late to avoid some national consequences.
(1291) I LOVE THAT COW! 2ND KINGS 23:28-37 Pharaoh, king of Egypt, sets up one of the sons of Josiah as a puppet king and gives him a new name. The people pay taxes to this new king and to Pharaoh, but their dominator does not totally dismantle their self rule. I have mentioned this before; that one of the primary ways one kingdom would take over another was to allow them the freedom to run things on their own, but let them pay tribute to their new ‘world order’. In the New Testament you see the kingdom of God grow this way, Jesus and the disciples were making followers of the king. But they did not see this as a means to make people totally co-dependent to the point where they did everything for them. In modern church planting scenarios we see ‘church planting’ as setting up places where people will meet. Providing a regular weekly preaching service. The ‘church/corporate entity’ will meet the needs of the people and the people in turn will ‘pay tithes to the storehouse’ we really have a very limited idea of church planting. It would be more effective if we led people to this new kingdom of God, but didn’t make them so dependent on a particular system, let them grow and govern themselves under the reality of them being servants of the king, this style allows people to experience God in a greater way. Okay, as I have been reading some of the parables of Jesus from the message bible, the one on the treasure hidden in a field spoke to me. The message bible says the kingdom is like a person accidently stumbling across a buried treasure in a field, when he realizes what he’s got he sells everything else and buys the field. At the risk of being crude this reminds me of a joke form the King of Queens, Arthur [Jerry Stiller] is dating Doug’s aunt [Doug- Kevin James] and Doug doesn’t like it. And obviously they are sleeping together and all. So Arthur falls in love with the aunt and informs Doug that he is going to propose marriage to her; Doug is furious. Arthur tells Doug ‘I know you’re wondering why I want to buy the cow if I’m getting the milk for free, well I love that cow, that’s why!’ Arthur was willing to give up everything for ‘the cow’. In essence he wanted to commit to the new found treasure, in a way this is what happens to people when they find the kingdom, you don’t have to set up systems to make people loyal to the kingdom [modern concepts on church membership that have all sorts of ways of trying to instill loyalty into people] when people realize the true value of the kingdom they are willing to give up everything in their pursuit. They will continue to function in society, you don’t have to go build places for these people to meet, let them meet wherever they were meeting before they were brought to the kingdom [homes, etc.] Just do your best to present the kingdom to them in its truest form, let them see the true riches that come with the kingdom. Don’t worry about gaining their loyalty, once they see the treasure they will sell all for it.
VERSES- [These are the verses I taught from or quoted on the video- Kings 13. Links to all my sites below] 1Kings 13:1 And, behold, there came a man of God out of Judah by the word of the LORD unto Bethel: and Jeroboam stood by the altar to burn incense. 1Kings 13:2 And he cried against the altar in the word of the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto the house of David, Josiah by name; and upon thee shall he offer the priests of the high places that burn incense upon thee, and men’s bones shall be burnt upon thee. 1Kings 13:3 And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out. 1Kings 13:4 And it came to pass, when king Jeroboam heard the saying of the man of God, which had cried against the altar in Bethel, that he put forth his hand from the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him. 1Kings 13:5 The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD. 1Kings 13:6 And the king answered and said unto the man of God, Intreat now the face of the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And the man of God besought the LORD, and the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before. 1Kings 13:7 And the king said unto the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh thyself, and I will give thee a reward. 1Kings 13:8 And the man of God said unto the king, If thou wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place: 1Kings 13:9 For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest. 1Kings 13:10 So he went another way, and returned not by the way that he came to Bethel. 1Kings 13:11 Now there dwelt an old prophet in Bethel; and his sons came and told him all the works that the man of God had done that day in Bethel: the words which he had spoken unto the king, them they told also to their father. 1Kings 13:12 And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah. 1Kings 13:13 And he said unto his sons, Saddle me the ass. So they saddled him the ass: and he rode thereon, 1Kings 13:14 And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am. 1Kings 13:15 Then he said unto him, Come home with me, and eat bread. 1Kings 13:16 And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place: 1Kings 13:17 For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest. 1Kings 13:18 He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him. 1Kings 13:19 So he went back with him, and did eat bread in his house, and drank water. 1Kings 13:20 And it came to pass, as they sat at the table, that the word of the LORD came unto the prophet that brought him back: 1Kings 13:21 And he cried unto the man of God that came from Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD, Forasmuch as thou hast disobeyed the mouth of the LORD, and hast not kept the commandment which the LORD thy God commanded thee, 1Kings 13:22 But camest back, and hast eaten bread and drunk water in the place, of the which the Lord did say to thee, Eat no bread, and drink no water; thy carcase shall not come unto the sepulchre of thy fathers. 1Kings 13:23 And it came to pass, after he had eaten bread, and after he had drunk, that he saddled for him the ass, to wit, for the prophet whom he had brought back. 1Kings 13:24 And when he was gone, a lion met him by the way, and slew him: and his carcase was cast in the way, and the ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the carcase. 1Kings 13:25 And, behold, men passed by, and saw the carcase cast in the way, and the lion standing by the carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt. 1Kings 13:26 And when the prophet that brought him back from the way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was disobedient unto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake unto him. 1Kings 13:27 And he spake to his sons, saying, Saddle me the ass. And they saddled him. 1Kings 13:28 And he went and found his carcase cast in the way, and the ass and the lion standing by the carcase: the lion had not eaten the carcase, nor torn the ass. 1Kings 13:29 And the prophet took up the carcase of the man of God, and laid it upon the ass, and brought it back: and the old prophet came to the city, to mourn and to bury him. 1Kings 13:30 And he laid his carcase in his own grave; and they mourned over him, saying, Alas, my brother! 1Kings 13:31 And it came to pass, after he had buried him, that he spake to his sons, saying, When I am dead, then bury me in the sepulchre wherein the man of God is buried; lay my bones beside his bones: 1Kings 13:32 For the saying which he cried by the word of the LORD against the altar in Bethel, and against all the houses of the high places which are in the cities of Samaria, shall surely come to pass. 1Kings 13:33 After this thing Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places: whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places. 1Kings 13:34 And this thing became sin unto the house of Jeroboam, even to cut it off, and to destroy it from off the face of the earth. 2Kings 23:1 And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem. 2Kings 23:2 And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD. 2Kings 23:3 And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant. 2Kings 23:4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel. 2Kings 23:5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven. 2Kings 23:6 And he brought out the grove from the house of the LORD, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people. 2Kings 23:7 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the LORD, where the women wove hangings for the grove. 2Kings 23:8 And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city. 2Kings 23:9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren. 2Kings 23:10 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech. 2Kings 23:11 And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire. 2Kings 23:12 And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron. 2Kings 23:13 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile. 2Kings 23:14 And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men. 2Kings 23:15 Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove. 2Kings 23:16 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words. 2Kings 23:17 Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Bethel. 2Kings 23:18 And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria. 2Kings 23:19 And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel. 2Kings 23:20 And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men’s bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem. 2Kings 23:21 And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant. 2Kings 23:22 Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah; 2Kings 23:23 But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to the LORD in Jerusalem. 2Kings 23:24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the LORD. 2Kings 23:25 And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the LORD with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him. 2Kings 23:26 Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal. 2Kings 23:27 And the LORD said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there. 2Kings 23:28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? 2Kings 23:29 In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him. 2Kings 23:30 And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father’s stead. 2Kings 23:31 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah. 2Kings 23:32 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done. 2Kings 23:33 And Pharaohnechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold. 2Kings 23:34 And Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there. 2Kings 23:35 And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaohnechoh. 2Kings 23:36 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah. 2Kings 23:37 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
1Timothy 6:1 Let as many servants as are under the yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not blasphemed. 1Timothy 6:2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort. 1Timothy 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 1Timothy 6:4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 1Timothy 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 1Timothy 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 1Timothy 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 1Timothy 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 1Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 1Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1Timothy 6:11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 1Timothy 6:12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 1Timothy 6:13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 1Timothy 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ: 1Timothy 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; 1Timothy 6:16 Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen. 1Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; 1Timothy 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; 1Timothy 6:19 Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 1Timothy 6:20 O Timothy, keep that which is committed to thy trust, avoiding profane and vain babblings, and oppositions of science falsely so called: 1Timothy 6:21 Which some professing have erred concerning the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

The Beginner's Guide to Structured Data for Organizing & Optimizing Your Website
It’s Friday afternoon, and your team is jonesing for Happy Hour.
For the last few weeks, you’ve been going to the same ol’ bar by your office, so you decide it’s time to try something new. What do you do? Step outside and walk around until you find a new spot? No, you hop on Google and let it conduct the search for you.
Your ideal post-work pub is nearby, open right after work, and offers a few gluten-free options so your entire team can partake. You plug these criteria into Google, and you’ve got three viable options at your fingertips — in a handy map format to boot.
Pause. Have you ever wondered how Google can whip up such accurate, precise answers in so little time … and present them in such an easy-to-read way? Moreover, what are those restaurants doing do get featured so dominantly on Google’s search engine results pages (SERPs)?
Heck, I’d love my business to pop up when consumers search for criteria relevant to me … wouldn’t you?
No one knows exactly how Google’s algorithm works, but there are a few ways to organize and optimize your website content so Google knows what content to feature on the SERPs for the various searches people conduct to find you. This is where structured data comes in.
Not sure what structured data is? That’s OK. By the end of this guide, you’ll be a structured data wizard — and your website will reap the benefits.
We know that what searchers see online is much different than what search engines see.
While searchers see this …
Source
… search engines see this.
View the source code for any website by going to View > Developer > View Source.
This behind-the-scenes code tells browsers how information should be organized on the website (as part of its website development) and tells web crawlers what’s on the page.
Structured data is also at play here. Embedded tags of code (a.k.a. “markup”) throughout the HTML of a webpage tell Google and other search engines what information to display in the SERPs and what this information represents. It also helps social media platforms synthesize your social media posts into snippets that preview the content using Open Graph Protocol (which we touch on later).
This markup is important. It educates search engines on what specific content is on the page, thus creating more relevant, informed searches and making the site a candidate for enhanced results like featured snippets, rich snippets, image and video carousels, knowledge boxes, and more. (We touch on this later, too.)
Structured vs. Unstructured Data
Structured data is organized based on a specific formula, arrangement, or language. In the case of SEO, that language is a specific HTML markup called schema. Unstructured data is data that isn’t sorted any particular way or marked up in a specific coding language. Unstructured data also refers to those elements that can’t easily be structured, like photos, graphics, videos, PowerPoint presentations, wikis, and word processing documents.
Here’s a simple example: In college, I used to take class notes very haphazardly. I’d literally scribble information down as my professors lectured … with little to no regard about its organization or legibility. (Well, I could read it, but no one else probably could.)
Me, in class
When it came time to study for an exam, I’d pull out those chaotic notes and type them up to create organized, structured study guides, sorted by the various questions and subject matters I knew I’d be tested on.
Therefore, I turned my unstructured data into structured data per my specific study system.
In the case of SEO, embedding markup and coded tags that characterize each written element would be how to structure that data — much like I did with my class notes.
How does structured data work?
At this point, you might be asking: How can there exist a language (markup) that is consistently recognized by search engines and people alike?
In order for this markup to be accurately and universally understood, there are standardized formats and vocabularies that should be used.
Let’s go back to basics for a minute. When conveying information, whether you’re communicating with a human or a computer, you need two main things: vocabulary (a set of words with known meanings) and grammar (a set of rules on how to use those words to convey meaning).
Most terminology surrounding structured data markup can be organized into these two concepts: vocabularies and grammars, and webmasters can combine whichever two they need to structure their data (with the exception of Microformats).
Vocabularies Grammars Schema.org Microdata DCMI JSON-LD FOAF RDFa
Okay … that’s enough of the fancy developer speak. What should you be using for your structured data?
Schema.org is the accepted universal vocabulary standard for structured data. It was founded by and is currently sponsored by Google, Bing, Yahoo, and Yandex. It’s flexible, open-sourced, and constantly updated and improved. Note: Schema is called such because it features markup for a wide variety of schemas — or data models — for different types of content.
Here’s an example of Schema Markup language (which is good for SEO) pulled from my latest article on branding.
“@context” : “http://schema.org”,
“@type” : “Article”,
“name” : “The Ultimate Guide to Branding in 2019”
“author” :
“@type” : “Person”,
“name” : “Allie Decker”
,
“datePublished” : “2019-04-02”,
“image” : “https://blog.hubspot.com/hubfs/branding-2.jpg”,
“url” : “https://blog.hubspot.com/marketing/branding”,
“publisher” : {
“@type” : “Organization”,
“name” : “HubSpot”
As for grammar, there’s no correct answer. Google recommends JSON-LD (and defaults to that grammar when using its Structured Data Markup Helper — as you see above), but it also recognizes Microdata and RDFa. It comes down to what your developers and webmasters are most comfortable with.
Structured data affects mobile a little differently — through Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP). Accelerated Mobile Pages is a Google-backed, open source project to help all mobile pages load quickly regardless of device. Pages with AMP markup appear within Google’s special SERP features, such as Top Stories and News Carousels.
👉🏼Here’s how to create an AMP HTML page.

Structured data markup works a little differently for social platforms. This requires Open Graph Protocol and similar languages that ensure your website and blog content appear in an easy-to-read way when you promote this content on a social network. Two common social media features that use Open Graph Protocol are Pinterest Rich Pins and Twitter cards. We talk more about how to do this below.
Here’s an example of Open Graph Protocol language (which is good for social media) using the same source.
Why is structured data important for SEO?
Structured data is important for SEO because it helps search engines find and understand your content and website. It’s also an important way to prepare for the future of search, as Google and other engines continue to personalize the user experience and answer questions directly on their SERPs. Additionally, structured data can make your organization more visible to potential customers and increase your click-through rate by up to 30%.
Google’s SERPs weren’t always as easy on the eye as they are today. Don’t remember? Check out this Google result for “pool tables” from 2008.
Source
Let’s compare. Here’s the same result from today in 2019.
Wow. That’s a world of difference. Not only are these results easier to read, but the extra features make for a much more informative, intelligent searching — and shopping — experience. Between the sponsored content and live map (plus the product carousel, question snippets, and related searches not shown in the screenshot), Google shows me pretty much all I need to know about pool tables.
Heck, sometimes I search for something and find the answer right on the SERP — I don’t even have to click on a result. Does that ever happen to you? If it has, you can thank structured data.
Note: Unfortunately, structured data doesn’t impact your organic search ranking (besides helping you grab a spot in a knowledge panel or Featured Snippet at the top of the list). It also doesn’t change how your content looks or behaves on your website — it only affects how and where it might appear on SERPs.
Examples of Structured Data
To the average internet user, structured data can’t be seen. It’s hidden among the code that makes up our favorite websites and online platforms. So, how does structured data affect what we (and our customers) see? What does it look like to the “naked” eye?
When webmasters adhere to structured data standards, search engines like Google and Bing reward their websites and organizations by featuring their content in a variety of SERP features (another reason to use structured data).
Let’s talk about those features — specifically on Google. Google SERPs display a wide variety of information, but the ones we talk about below are specifically influenced by structured data. There are also a couple of ways that structured data can benefit your non-SERP marketing efforts on social media and email marketing.
Source
First, it’s important to note that structured data can manifest on SERPs in two main ways: through content features (which appear as separate search results) and enriched result features (which enhance the search results themselves).
Content Features
Carousels
Carousels show up as images with captions related to a search, such as movie actors, cars, or news articles. Searchers can click through these images to access a separate SERP for that search.
👉🏼Here’s how to use structured data to show up on Carousels.
Featured Snippets
Featured Snippets display information relevant to a query — and link to a third-party website (which sets them apart from Answer Boxes and Knowledge Panels, which draw from public domain databases). They don’t count as one of the ten organic results on a SERP, so if you “win” the snippet, your website shows up twice. Featured Snippets can also be displayed as quotes, tables, jobs, rich cards (for movies and recipes), or the question section titled “People may ask”.
👉🏼Here’s how to optimize your content for Google’s featured snippet box.
Knowledge Panels (a.k.a. Knowledge Graph Cards)
Knowledge Panels pull together the most relevant information from a search and display it as a separate panel on the right side of a SERP. They typically include images, dates, and category-specific information, such as stock prices for companies or birthdays for celebrities. You can use a structured data markup like Schema to tag your content with all of these categories, but there’s no guarantee that Google will reward you with your own knowledge panel. In fact, structured data doesn’t promise anything, it only makes it easier for search engines and social networks to interpret your content.
Also, Knowledge Panels aim to answer queries without requiring a click-through … good news for searchers, and bad news for businesses.
👉🏼Here’s how to make your site easier for bots to crawl (to increase your chances of showing up in a Knowledge Panel).
Enriched Search Features (a.k.a. Rich Search Results or Rich Snippets)
Breadcrumbs
Breadcrumbs “indicate a page’s position in the site hierarchy,” according to Google. Breadcrumbs only appear on mobile devices, in place of a URL, and help searchers understand a page’s relationship to the rest of a website.
👉🏼Here’s how to use structured data to display Breadcrumbs in your results.
Sitelinks and Sitelinks Searchbox
Sitelinks are additional links displayed beneath a search result that navigate to different parts of a website. Google pulls them into a SERP when it thinks additional results would benefit a searcher. Websites with intelligent anchor text and alt text that’s informative, compact, and avoids repetition have a good chance of displaying a result with Sitelinks.
Sitelinks Searchbox is like Sitelinks with a search bar directly featured in the result. That search box uses Google — not the featured website — which creates a brand new SERP. Sitelinks Searchboxes only show up in branded searches.
👉🏼Here’s how to get a Sitelinks Searchbox for your website.
Non-SERP Features
Social Cards
Social-specific markup doesn’t have a big impact on SEO, but it’s still important for marketers to understand. Not only does this markup enhance your social posts and ad efforts, but it can also be read by search engines — which could contribute to any SEO changes in the future.
Social cards display images and rich text when links are shared on social media. Any organization who uses social media to share content should be using proper social markup, such as Open Graph Protocol.
👉🏼Here’s how you ensure your social content displays social cards:
Open Graph Protocol (for Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram)
Facebook Validation Tool
Twitter Cards
Twitter Validation Tool
Pinterest Rich Pins

Email Marketing
Have you recently booked a flight or ordered something online? If you have Gmail, you might’ve seen your reservation or order details summarized at the top of the confirmation email. This is due to email markup. If you send emails for orders, reservations, confirmations, or bookings, consider using email markup to make your email recipients’ lives easier.
👉🏼Here’s how to get started with email markup in Gmail.
How to Implement Structured Data by Using Google’s Structured Data Markup Helper Tool
Open Google’s Structured Data Markup Helper
Select your data type and enter the URL
Highlight page elements and assign data tags
Create the HTML
Add the schema markup to your page
Test your markup with Google’s Structured Data Testing Tool
Diagnose and fix any detected issues
Be patient
The concept of structured data might seem confusing, but its implementation isn’t nearly as complicated. In fact, there are a number of structured data tools that can help you along the way, namely Google’s Structured Data Markup Helper and Testing tools. Sure, you can implement structured data by hand, but Google’s tool ensures accuracy — and makes your life easier.
It’s important to note that adding structured data markup on your website doesn’t guarantee a Featured Snippet or Sitelinks Sitebox. Google can take weeks to crawl your new HTML markup, and sometimes, the information doesn’t show up at all.
However, taking the steps to implement structured data is critical. Google might be smart, but it can’t (yet) understand everything on its own. It might seem like a lot of extra work, but using the correct structured data markup will ensure Google can make sense of your content and can help you potentially increase your click-through rates and visibility.
Here’s how to implement structured data by using Google’s Structured Data Markup Helper tool.
1. Open Google’s Structured Data Markup Helper
Open up Google’s Structured Data Markup Helper tool.
2. Select your data type and enter the URL
Make sure the Website tab is open. Choose the type of data to which you’d like to add the HTML markup. Plug the web page URL (or the HTML code) at the bottom , and click Start Tagging.
  3. Highlight page elements and assign data tags
When the tool loads, you should see your web page on the left side and data items on the right. Highlight different components of your web page to assign data tags such as name, author, and date published. (The tool will suggest different data tags for different types of data, i.e. Events or Book Reviews.)
As you select and assign data tags, you’ll see the information pop up under My Data Tags on the right panel. You can also add any missing tags that might not be visible on the web page; just click Add missing tags.
4. Create the HTML
When you’re finished tagging and assigning data items, click Create HTML in the upper right-hand corner.
5. Add the schema markup to your page
On the next screen, you should see your structured data markup on the right side. The tool automatically produces the script as JSON-LD markup, but you can change it to Microdata by clicking the JSON-LD drop-down menu in the top menu.
Click Download to download the script as an HTML file. To read more about adding structured data to your article (or any other data type), click Articles in the right corner above the markup.
To “publish” your markup, copy and paste the new HTML markup into your CMS or source code of your web page. Lastly, click Finish in the top right corner to check out Google’s recommended Next Steps … one of which will bring you to this next one.
6. Test your markup with Google’s Structured Data Testing Tool
Open up Google’s Structured Data Testing Tool. You can enter any URL of a web page you’d like to test, or you can enter HTML code. (In the example below, I’m analyzing the code previously produced by Google’s Structured Data Markup Helper Tool.) Click Run Test to begin.
7. Diagnose and fix any detected issues
The tool will show you your HTML markup on the left side and the markup analysis on the right. Note any red errors or warnings. Click on any data row to highlight the corresponding markup on the left.
If necessary, you can edit any errors in the HTML directly in the tool panel before “publishing” your tested HTML markup.
8. Be patient
This last step is simple but arguably the hardest — to sit back and wait. Google can take weeks to re-crawl new HTML, and even then, your content isn’t guaranteed to show up in rich snippets or other SERP features.
As long as you follow the correct structured data standards and markup, give Google all the information it needs to know, and be patient, your website and business can benefit greatly from structured data and enhanced SEO.
Conclusion
Google and other search engines continuously improve how they aggregate and present information. They offer enhanced, intelligent search experiences with the customer in mind. It’s up to you as a business to keep up, and you can do so through structured data.
Structured data benefits businesses — through increased visibility — and consumers — through better usability. Use this guide, tools, and resources to optimize and organize your website and make your customers’ lives easier.

  1. Drop the Retargeting Pixel on Users Who Engage with Your Content
Retargeting can be used both very rightly and very wrongly, and the difference makes all the money (also literally). Whenever you drop pixels on users, try to make sure that you take the bounce rate into consideration. This way, your custom audience will be more targeted and your overall results will be better, after just one little change, as Claire Pelletreau did. It is as simple as adding code to your website.
Otherwise, you’ll be spending a lot of energy on people who had no interest in your content in the first place. So maybe you should wait for a few seconds before dropping the pixel to generate the retargeting process.
  2. Use a Content Delivery Network to Promote Posts Based on Users’ Locations
There are numerous benefits to be technical. In this context, they’re mostly blocking SQL injections and malicious bots. However, there’s a marketing advantage to this as well. Brian Jackson offers more than these two reasons. Its main marketing purpose is being able to live to the expectations of your never-settling customers. He said that when delivered quality content based on location, he experienced increased website traffic thanks to the improvement in responsiveness, which is an evergreen technique.
Your website will be more optimized and it will work faster, contributing significantly to the overall user experience which, as we can all agree, is something to aim for.
  3. Focus Your Efforts Only on Social Media Platforms that Work for Your Business
There’s a place and a time for everything. So the question remains: what do you do if you’ve done everything possible by the book to promote your page and it still doesn’t work? You kill it. Copyblogger did it with their Facebook page. After all, it’s not strategically appropriate to invest a huge amount of time and resources into something that refuses to comply with the rules of ROI.
In her article, Erika Napoletano said something I can only agree with: fan numbers don’t mean anything if they’re not accompanied by engagement. So focus on what works, instead.
  4. Offer Deals to Universities to Get Listed on .edu Sites
Authority links and brand mentions contribute a great deal to a business’ reputation and visibility. It’s a lot easier to get notoriety when you’re featured on reputable websites. And universities are a great networking source at the same time, the links from an educational website have a very powerful authority. From young, creative minds who deserve an internship to associate lecturers full of academic insight, universities are the place to be.
Here, the possibilities are endless. How you choose to materialize this tip depends both on your business model and financial possibilities. The easiest way is asking the university you graduated from to mention you as a successful alumnus, now active in the entrepreneurial field.
Not everyone is going to be able to give away scholarships (we’re not all Google), but most of us could easily create a course for students who would like to learn about case studies in your niche. The academic mediation between the theoretical field and your practical experience works best together when it comes to the educational experience.
  5. Use Schema Microdata to Facilitate Website Indexing
Schema is a type of microdata that helps search engines parse and interpret the info on your website in a more effective and contextual manner, helping both you and the potential customers/readers who perform search queries. Using schema microdata can help you appear in the knowledge graph, gain beta releases and having advantages in AMP, Google News, etc. and help Google to show contextual results from your website. And as a result to all that, it increases the traffic to your site.
The practice helps the search engines crawl more efficiently and your visibility can register a boost after introducing it. One very honest white-hat strategy, this hack works best for the long term of your business, just like in the example below from Dan Shewan. This way, the information on your website is better parsed and interpreted by the search engines, and you are most likely to see a boost in the overall visibility of your website.
  6. Check out Unexploited Social Media for a Reinvigorating Marketing Approach
StumbleUpon, Taboola, Launchbit, and Outbrain, Pinterest – they’re all great ideas for content promotion. These social media websites may not be as popular as Twitter and Facebook, and maybe this is why they work so great when it comes to marketing objectives – because you can address more specific niches, with a higher informational intent and which are more prone to be convinced that your business is worth giving a try.
Take the example above of an article published on StumbleUpon. If you’ve got catchy articles and high-quality pictures, Taboola and Outbrain are the ones you should use. They are not like any other social media website, they offer behavioral targeting to help publishers make their content noticed. They can be used very easily to syndicate your content. If you decide to use this technique, the platforms will share the organic content on other websites and it might appear in different sections such as sponsored content or recommended content.
    7. Debunk a Common Perspective in Your Niche and Prove It’s a Myth
Some things we take for granted. We’re so used to hearing them that not only won’t we try to contradict people who state them, but we’re starting to slowly accept them as truths. And the reader does the same. That’s a great start for a traffic idea, right? When everyone’s started to accept something as being true, the voice of those that don’t believe it will soon stand out. Some time ago, we documented on the topic regarding the SEO industry being dead. Everybody has been talking along the years about it, and even some authoritative sources were starting to drift away.
We wrote an article to publicly state the opposite. Of course, you should keep a neutral voice in order to be reliable as a source, and moderation is the key to any long-term feasible approach. But, the article wasn’t just shared across social media, it also had almost 40 comments. This proves once more, that conflicting opinions bring visibility and creates viral content.
  8. Post Evergreen Content from Your Blog to LinkedIn Regularly
Dorie Clark admitted being a big fan of this tip in a roundup post. If you think of it, LinkedIn is a pretty natural environment for evergreen content, such as in the example below.
It’s the place where people will always look for specific information. And evergreen content can be a constant source of traffic. That happens because the articles have a better value than your generic blog post you find on the web, being directly related to the professionals who documented them. Making yourself visible on a website where everybody has the same goal and getting in touch with relevant people in the industry, means a lot when it comes to your future targeted traffic. So start small, and make changes that will echo in terms of visibility even years from now.
Posting evergreen articles on LinkedIn increases your website traffic because it connects organically the content you published with the professionals behind the ideas.
  9. Join Niched Twitter Lists to Spread Your Message to a Targeted Audience
There are few things that can motivate us more than being in the right place at the right time. However, most of the times, for us marketers, this is not something that luck is responsible for. We have to make it happen. And one of the places where things happen with a vicarious rhythm are Twitter lists. Being a part of them allows you to see what happens in your niche and to share (relevant!) content with a highly niched audience, who will probably take interest in your cause.
Kevan Lee told the story of Twitter listing and all the amazing results you can achieve when you take all the variables into account. For instance, there’s this Social Media list from Adweek, with millions of members and fans. Imagine you have the possibility to share content with 2, 3 or 5 million people interested in your niche, just because you’ve created one powerful connection with the person who put you on that list. How great of an opportunity is that?
  10. Repurpose Long Form Content into SlideShare Presentations
Another great example of traffic generators is repurposing long-form content into presentations. According to Lena Prickett, an idea turned in 15 ways around the interests of the readers is as valuable as 15 ideas, assuming you’re doing the promotion responsibly. SlideShare has a huge audience and less than 1 percent of marketers manage to address their audience, which makes it all the more available as a source when it comes to spreading your content.
  Take the Coschedule example above.
The original article had 170 social shares. However, the SlideShare presentation brought another 100.
It’s almost always appropriate to repurpose website content, and it makes working on an in-depth piece more profitable, as it gives you the chance to actually get substantial and relevant traffic for the time you’ve spent documenting your posts.
The time difference of repurposing content is small enough to make it worth every minute, as it doesn’t even come close to the amount of time it takes to create new content that appeals. Of course, this means that maybe it’s time you started thinking of your topics as ideas that have to fit into more than just one universal presentation form.
  11. Tag & Quote the People that Comment on Your Site on Social Media
Tagging people that commented on your site on social media brings you easy traffic. Think of it. People who’ve commented have spent enough time on your blog as to have a few unanswered questions. It means they’re already engaged. They know about your brand, are interested in the content you’re providing, and they’re always striving to be documented on what’s happening in the niche.
Kevin Duncan calls this the ‘howdy, neighbor’ technique, and it basically means that you should be friendly with you acquaintances online. Just like people from the small towns that welcomed a new neighbor. It doesn’t involve more than saying thanks once in a while and welcoming people properly.
The results from his experiment were astonishing in terms of engagement.
Try it out and see the results for yourself!
  12. Make a Creative Unboxing Youtube Video of Your Product
It’s not necessary to have a material product when you’re considering creative unboxing. IKEA had a great idea of the book, where they presented their catalog – a hardcover book – as a gadget.
The entire purpose of the unboxing video is to have as many views as possible and increase your brand memorability, even if it’s a little complimentary to your product instead of an unboxing of the product itself. But make it easy to understand. Needless to say, if you do have a material product as part of your business, the unboxing video is going to be even easier to make and will serve informational needs.
  13. Transcribe Your Video Content to Target a Broader Audience
It’s only appropriate to make sure that all kinds of prospects with very different schedules will be able to follow your content. The form in which your content is presented is only an instrument that’s meant to facilitate interaction, not to block it.
Transcribing your video content may come in handy, especially for that type of audience that doesn’t have enough mobile data to access your video on the spot (and can forget until they get home) or is in a very boring meeting and cannot play it out loud, but would be able to read it. Be prepared for these kinds of situations. Not to mention the ranking. You can get higher rankings, as you help the search engine contextualize the content of the video and the complexity of your endeavor.
  14. Use Alltop (or Other Blog Aggregators) to Get Listed as an Authoritative Source
Alltop is an authoritative source where people browse information, sorting it in a manner that’s dedicated to displaying the most recent news. The reason why people use it is that it’s practical and it filters the authoritative sources that would usually come up in a search engine, providing its users with fresh articles. It is a great source for driving traffic.
As a publisher or a site owner, as Donna Maria Coles Johnson puts it, you’d like to be listed on a blog aggregator because it helps promoting your content and it will bring a lot of traffic, in time. The advantage is being part of a network where people come to look for information, which is why it’s advised to maintain relevance.
  15. Reschedule Popular Tweets in Your Industry on Buffer
Nobody likes to follow a leader who keeps yapping about himself. Keep this in mind when you’re posting on social media. Curating information that you find essential, funny or provoking is equally important as creating new content. Sometimes, it’s even more important.
Start a blogger outreach campaign. Associating yourself with influential people creates a slippery slope from which you may be getting out with hundreds of new followers, who noticed you on the influencer’s page with the retweets, and have decided to see what you’re up to. Never underestimate the potential of networking done right, and be patient when starting it.
  16. Suggest Your Content on a Popular Scoop It Page to Get Colossal Targeted Exposure
We all get attached to the content we’re writing. It’s part of the job description. It is mostly because we’re passionate about our work. But not all of it is always relevant for some people’s informational needs. However, there are situations where parts of our content could be cured into something that addresses a slightly different audience than ours.
The great news about this tip is that it only takes a few minutes. Some of the Scoop It pages have hundreds of active followers, who represent niched audiences, as Gabriella Sannino also suggested in her post. She suggests content that it is appropriate and related to the subject of the community because that type of content will be generating traffic for your website, not to mention networking opportunities.
  17. Self-Publish Kindle Books and Link to Your Site
It’s not uncommon to have a lot of old (but still reliable) content that doesn’t generate too much traffic anymore. Along with actively promoting it on social media from time to time, you can also turn it into a book – maybe add a few updates to the case studies you were writing two or three years ago, and then publish it.
And I’m not just suggesting this because of the link to your website, or the profile description that is going to position you better on the web, although they’re pretty good points, as David Kudler advocates. Most of the people who are actively interested in reading on a niched topic are also more and more devoted to materials that lack the hyper-connectivity that makes the web so popular. that happens because it helps them focus.
In other words, you may not be a Kindle bestseller, but you’ll know two things about the audience you’ll attract: you share the same passion and they have the patience to read, all of these while re-engaging old content in the marketing scheme.
  18. Upload a Screencast Product Demo on Your Website to Hook First-Time Visitors
Visuals draw our attention and everybody agrees with that. Instead of letting your prospects roam around your website aimlessly, you can just upload a screencast on your website and let them have the information delivered in an eye-candy manner, that will also increase the memorability rate.
As Epipheo did, and they had over 50,000 Youtube views, which is a great number for a company with an average of 7,000 Twitter followers.
  19. Use Tooltipster to Make Every Fragment of Text Easily Shareable
Tooltipster is a handy tool you can use whenever you wish to make HTML improvements in your blog’s functionality. Many times, the reason why people don’t share useful content is because they’re discouraged by the layout of the website. After you took care of this, you can install the Highlight and Share plugin extension to encourage sharing with your readers as well.
This is why your blog should be a sharing-friendly environment, where you display the numbers of shares on different social media platforms and you encourage even more sharing through a tool that will allow sharing easily. If you’ve just published a piece of content that you’ve been working on for a week, maybe you wouldn’t like to see it lose any kind of traffic and engagement after a few days, maybe fewer than it took you to create it.
  20. Write Testimonials for Popular Products in Your Niche for Authority Links & Exposure
Endorsement is powerful. It will always be because it works on a principle that’s guiding us all through life, credibility transfer. Of course, the more authoritative and competent the source is in the industry that it endorses, the more credibility it transfers. However, this works wonders in reverse as well. The endorser becomes endorsed by the product, in our case.
This is, again, a psychological positioning trick. Whenever you access the website of a product or service and you reach the testimonials page, you’ll think that the clients are not only the most representative the service owner has in mind, but the most authoritative as well. If you’re doing the outreach rightly and contact companies that are similar to your interests and areas of expertise, then you’ve got yourself some good, steady traffic going on, even if you’re not the most popular in the niche.
  21. Turn Your Infographics into In-depth Articles & Rank on More Keywords
Infographics are the end-medium when it comes to promoting content visually to increase engagement. Still, they will have better ranking if you boost them with content, to help the search engines associate the images with the content.
So the question becomes: what do you do when the social media hype you’ve created with your infographic starts to fade away? Clearly, you cannot just leave it at that. After all, you’ve spent a large amount of time in putting the infographic together. To not to waste the energy, you can repurpose the content of the infographic into a blog post, just like Killer Infographics suggests.
  22. Use a PR Prank as a Link Building Tactic
Duolingo is a website that’s destined to helping people learn foreign languages. On the 1st of April, they created a prank product, the pillow that helps you learn a language overnight.
The prank was very well received on the web and it got a lot of quality links for the page.
Not to mention that it boosted the entire backlink performance of the domain, getting the website to an entirely new high number of links/referring domains in their history.
PR pranks are useful in terms of notoriety as well, not just traffic and backlinks as they allow you to build relationships with influencers and position you as a creative agent on your market.
  23. Optimize Your TTFB to Improve User Experience
Website speed is one important factor when it comes to user experience and to visitors re-returning to your website. And organic traffic, now more than ever, is not something we can afford to take for granted.
This is when we have to get a little technical in order to make sure that we’re ranking properly. Assuming you’re reading this, probably ranking is one of your priorities. And the Time to First Bite has a contribution in ranking. Mark Scott stresses that the exact definition of website speed is quite ambiguous online, and he couldn’t be more right. Yet, even if there’s some debate going on about it, TTFB still matters and you can use instruments to measure the extent to which you’ve done a great job until now.
  24. Create an Instagram Photo Contest to Exploit a 200 Million Users Network
Someone I particularly like when it comes to Instagram engagement is the Cluse shop for women’s watches and jewelry. They’re pretty popular and always dedicated to building more search traffic and create engagement on social media.
They are collaborating with lots of ambassadors and have various giveaways on their social platforms. One of their contest created on Instagram increased the brand’s engagement, and it’s not even that hard to host it, especially when it’s crucial to have engaged followers on every social media platform that can speak for your brand. They are sharing lots of posts, engage with bloggers and fashion icons on Instagram and publish high-quality pictures with vivid colors.
  25. Pin Tweets that Address Your Reader’s Needs, Not Your Marketing Strategy
There’s something great about web, and that’s people’s availability when it comes to sharing information. You can find how-to articles and tutorials about pretty much everything. And, more importantly, you can use them in shaping your marketing strategy. For instance, the pinned tweet. Pauline Cabrera writes about this possibility in a mini-how-to article, letting you know about everything you need to know if you want to get your tweets pinned.
Don’t just use this option to promote yourself better, but give something to the community instead. Try writing about something that would instantly hook the reader instead of something you’d really like them to know about, and watch your engagement rate increase.
  26. Address a Complementary Niche with Similar Interests to Your Readers
Content expansion can be a useful tool when you’re trying to address more potential readers. The advantages of it range from a better and more dynamic audience to a dramatic increase in leads and brand recognition. Powell’s Books is a bookstore in Oregon. And people are mad about it. Aside from having an offline business that addresses a certain type of audience, they’ve been active online for a while.
Their tweets often engage the entire artistic community and everything that creates hype on the web, addressing a target who wouldn’t necessarily spend their free time reading for leisure. Plus, many of the followers don’t even live somewhere close, so they’re clearly part of a different niche, enjoying something distinctive as much as the next reader.
Being sociable and friendly can get you far, as long as you know how to adapt your strategy as to address people who wouldn’t normally consider entering a bookstore and, more importantly, speaking like a person, not like a brand representative.
  27. Get Yourself Featured on Product Hunt for Expert Feedback
Danny Postma tells the story of how he was featured on Product Hunt. It’s not easy to start your own business, and it’s harder to promote it among other people who have the same goal as you.
New projects have the advantage of being full of possibilities and, if promoted properly, they can propel the entire startup that created them. And, of course, they’re flexible, and Product Hunt is a great place with professionals always willing to take 5 minutes of their time and give you actionable tips.
And sometimes increase traffic website, if you’re lucky.
  28. Send Personal Webinar Registration Emails to Unengaged Prospects
Whenever a trend catches some popularity and everybody starts doing it, it becomes harder and harder for the people actually using the strategy properly to stand out from the crowd, as ironic as it sounds. So happened with webinars. It’s almost impossible to get through a day (even Sunday) without getting at least one webinar invite.
It gets even harder when the prospects you’re trying to engage are slipping away. But it’s more challenging, at the same time. Joanna Wiebe went through the webinar-invite strategies in terms of what works and what doesn’t. Being personal is the first thing, along with writing from an individual point of view. Just mentioning names isn’t enough (although it’s a good start). But writing from your standpoint to the prospects’ helps them realize the benefits of engaging with your brand.
  29. Use List Posts as Much as Possible – They’re Easy to Read & Tweet
People like visually organized content because it helps them focus on the relevant aspects of an article, even when we skim through content. And admitting we’re doing it means admitting our readers are doing it as well.
Lists are a quick fix to this. They are increasing website traffic, as their main purpose is to guide the reader through the content, to get to the parts he’s really interested in, the ones he’ll carefully read. You just throw in a serious writer, and a topic with a lot of potential and buzz around it. Then organize it in the form of a list, and you’ve got yourself a traffic winner.
  30. Use LinkedIn Groups to Announce Improvements to Targeted Audiences
Joshua Rodriguez explained the proper way of using LinkedIn groups. It’s not something you do in a minute, it’s true (it doesn’t take you more than half an hour to get started either). It implies checking the interests of the groups you’re part of to make sure you’re not spammy or redundant.
Depending on their informational needs and the extent to which they need to be notified (it’s enough for some to hear twice a month about your brand, while others would miss you if you didn’t post 3 times a day). Keeping appropriateness cannot be done empirically (or it can, but it’s not strategically constructive). So use spreadsheets. Write everything down and keep track of your improvements: it helps both morale and revenue!
  31. Involve Readers in Your Content Marketing with a Crowd Sourced Post
And mix them up a little. Combine powerful influencers with regular readers, to create an idea of a reliable source who is capable of seeing the message behind the popularity – and, ultimately, to gather as many people as possible with pertinent solutions to the issues you’re proposing for debate.
Sometimes it’s not all social media (I can’t believe I’m saying this myself), as there are more types of going through information. I may just find it highly useful and informative, but maybe my friends are not as thrilled about the topic as I am. However, some crowd-sourced infographics don’t necessarily bring a spike in social media, but they do increase on-page engagement and the traffic itself has a boom. Matthew Woodward tried this strategy in the example above, and the results were encouraging.
  32. Rank for Video Content Posting Optimized Youtube Videos Regularly
But in order to achieve success, you’ll have to aim high. The best solution in video ranking, just like in life, is persistence. Uploading content regularly with the only purpose of satisfying a need of your viewers. Moreover, the more descriptive and elaborate the video title and descriptions are, the better you’re going to rank (and convince), the more views you’ll have.
Take the example of Fitness Blender, a Youtube channel with fitness tutorials. Their video titles are explanatory and exhaustive using long tail keywords, while also building a sense of expectation in the viewer that they are going to satisfy, delivering precisely what they promised to. In a world where everybody went crazy about workout, this channel manages to have over 3 million subscribers organically through correct positioning that generates word of mouth.
It’s true that one hour worth of videos is uploaded every minute on Youtube, but at the same time, more than 3 billion hours are watched each month, which is about 350 thousand years. Yes, that’s how much we like video content, because it’s easy to go through and it allows us to focus on another complementary activity, making it times more efficient than reading.
There are many things that you can do to grow your reputation as an online source. Building brand awareness can face you with a number of opportunities that you just cannot miss. Ranking for video content is one of them.
    33. Make People Curious About You & Boost Your Traffic with a Funny Product or Landing Page
An interesting example of making people curious about you and getting traffic for your website was made popular by James Norquay. It’s about Virgin Mobile Australia, who launched a campaign called ‘drunk dialing’, which was for an app they made.
The soft would simply allow you to block a person that you have the bad habit of texting or calling while drunk whenever you go out and drink, only to unblock the contacts the following morning. This way, you would be sure that drunk dialing is not a problem in Australia (where the campaign origins) anymore. The campaign wasn’t only efficient for people missing their exes, but from a marketing point of view as well, increasing brand loyalty and building traffic.
  34. Feature Influencers in Your SlideShare Content to Get It Shared
Most of the times, getting noticed cannot happen easily even if you’re relevant and hard working. But you can help your website using SlideShare’s. It is a great platform at your service, as often stated in the industry. It’s partly because it’s very authoritative, partly because it has a lot of daily views and partly because its users are interested in high-quality content and are willing to come back for more if you rise to their expectations.
Promoting content on SlideShare’s a great way to start spinning the wheel. Of course, you’ll have to create a complete profile in order to be able to generate leads for more than 15 minutes after you’ve published the content. Include links in the presentations and provide the necessary contact information in order to be reachable.
The platform has a huge capacity of adaptability to your needs. It allows you to do anything, including forms that readers would have to complete to access your restricted piece of content. And that’s because it is a serious source to become popular. It would be simply wrong not to address SlideShare’s gigantic audience.
  35. Tag Influencers on Twitter to Let Them Know You Mentioned Them
Another proven strategy to increase your blog’s traffic comes from influencers. Engagement matters a lot when it comes to creating long-term relationships on social media. And it doesn’t have to be because you’re co-interested in increasing the number of followers, it doesn’t have to be a marketing objective. Sometimes you can mention them in your blog posts, and get their attention via Twitter, or send them an appreciation email. Many people in any industry already apply this as something organic, not making a big deal out of it. Take Sujan Patel, for example.
Follow people who you like reading updates from, and who inspire you. Don’t think of social media as a corporate way of making money out of the blue, but as an opportunity to connect with people who’ve got the same interests as you do. No more than 20 years ago this was impossible. How cool is it to have this chance? Just let people know when you’ve got a new crush on a niched social media celebrity. You can never know where engagement comes from.
  36. Find a Unique and Personal Tone that Nobody in the Niche Has Adopted Yet
I’m sure it’s not the first time you come across this type of advice. And it’s usually followed by a philosophy about consumers and society and what makes an article popular. Well, I’m not going to drag you to that pitfall of idealist conversations again. We’re going to be practical about this. We’re going to talk about examples.
Mark Manson activates in an industry where it’s hard to make your voice stand out, personal development. And although he publishes frequently now, he didn’t always do this. He used to post a couple of articles a year and, to his surprise, without much investment, they produced thousands of views and shares on social media.
I’m not saying we’re all that guy, it’s hardly the lesson here. But whenever I see someone who manages to rise above his overly crowded niche, I think it’s possible for all of us to do the same. Despite being about a motivational writer, this is not a motivational tip. It’s an actionable one: the differences between what the niche provides in terms of writing tone and how you can stand out are completely up to you and your dedication. It goes without saying that having a skillset in this direction helps a lot, but it’s mostly the competitive perspective.
  37. Marry Evergreen Content with Trending Posts to Boost Visibility
It’s not always possible to anticipate news, but you can work your way around the generic dynamic of your industry. Generally, the conversations around this topic make people admit there still are things they need to work on. The high number of comments on every good blog post on the matter is nothing but living proof, as Nirmala Santhakumar’s experience can confirm.
Let’s talk lifespan. Trending content can bring you thousands of visits in the first few days, only to fade away less than a week later, while evergreen content is a constant and consistent source of traffic for years to come. These two work best in a complementary content marketing strategy, alternating the types of information you’re sharing with your audience to build both visibility and long-term engagement.
You have to strike a balance. A huge part of this is knowing your industry’s cycle, from the times of the day when people have time to go through long reads to the most important news they’d be interested in monitoring no matter what. Start from there!
  38. Get a Column on an Industry Publication
It does have a great impact when you’re personal with your audience, but you have to make sure that this doesn’t stop them from seeing you as a professional. It’s crucial to maintain a balance between being perceived as a credible, reliable source and keeping your contact with prospects on a personal level. As Matthew Barby mentioned, pitching is something you have to do scaling the opportunities. You can use BrandMentions for this step. Then, there comes the pitching itself!
Getting a column on an industry publication (or a publication with an industry topic) is something that’s multi-beneficial for your traffic. First, because it associates you with the press, which is always flattering for those who read your emails and see you engaged in personal conversations. Second, because it increases your exposure towards prospects you haven’t yet achieved and, of course, third, because it is a position that favors an increase in leads.
  39. Find Partners in Your Industry
The condition is basic and it implies that you have a quality audience, and you’re of a similar popularity level with the ones you’re going to close the partnership with. Otherwise, it’s really not worth it to create a blog today and write the Wall Street Journal tomorrow for an exchange of traffic sources.
Consequently, the partnerships will have to be done taking the needs of the readers into consideration as well, not just to pump up some Analytics numbers. We all know it takes more than that to build a strong brand with increased loyalty. So proceed with care, like Entrepreneur and Unbounce did.
Fresh sources of traffic can be a huge bummer. Fortunately, there are lots of positive examples that could inspire you to create effective strategies. One of these is finding partners in your industry and it isn’t that complicated to pitch, ince any other business would be highly interested in increasing their own traffic.
  40. Tell Your Brand Story Through an Honest Appeal to Emotion
Tom’s Shoes did a great job following this marketing rule of thumb, with an emotional video that presents their brand story through the eyes of their social responsibility. For every pair of shoes sold, the company gives one away to children in need, and generally people with unlucky financial situations in 60+ countries, including the United States.
The company has 50.5k Youtube followers, 1.97M Twitter follows and the video had over 3.9M views. Something must have been done properly, right? Don’t be afraid to use emotion into making your brand more human, your potential customers will empathize. You don’t always have to be rational whenever presenting a product to an audience, and it seems as I cannot say this often enough.
When you give people rational arguments exclusively, they will immediately think of counterarguments. This is how the human brain is wired to respond to rational stimuli, with other rational reactions. However, when you offer your audience a more complex marketing product, with both rational arguments to adhere to your brand’s values presented with an emotional pitching proposition, people will treat it as an experience, not as a theoretical dispute.
  41. Pitch Your Business to Influencers on Hacker News
Tung Tha told his story of a successful posting on Hacker News, by accident. He co-founded and created the TablePlus, a modern, native tool with elegant UI that helps you simultaneously manage multiple databases. They managed to receive 400% daily active users in one day and half of that number still remains until today. Not to mention, they managed to increase their revenue up over 200% compared to the previous month.
There are some things to take into consideration when it comes to the style of writing, every platform has its secrets and this one is no different from this point of view. You’ll have to be clear and straightforward, without rushing people into information, but without any copywriting-orchestrated delay.
When it comes to honest information and pitching, being the one to prolong things unnecessarily could even cause more harm than good. So be clear and bold, and don’t forget to be honest about the competitive advantages. In their case, it worked: relevancy and honesty had a lot to do with these numbers.
  42. Post Questions that Make People Use Their Pride/Creativity/Ego
Ego bait has always worked, especially when you make it stand out. People love to be appreciated for their work, since they put a lot of time and effort, all with the only purpose of being better professionals who inspire others around them. Of course, there’s also money, but mostly the ego thing.
So it always helps when you treat someone as an authoritative source of information. And if you also ask them to be creative while at it, you’ve got yourself a winner. Jason Acidre asked influencers what were the most creative ideas for link building that they had ever implemented and the roundup had over 40 people giving advice.
  43. Have Social Media Buttons in Your Email Newsletter
Andrea Kinloch wrote a how-to article to help you include social sharing buttons in your signature.
People don’t really tweet the content of emails, or they rarely do. However, sometimes newsletters are worth sharing with people, especially because they provide unique content to which only some people have access. Creating a connection between you and the reader, a social media button will direct the prospects to a personal page (not a brand profile), where people will be able to create an association between the brand and the awesome guy or chick behind it.
Don’t be reluctant to share some things from your private life with your readers, such as your love for psychological movies or your spirit of adventure. In the end, it’s what makes them loyal, being able to associate a brand with an experience and, further, with a person they like and can empathize with.
  44. Grow your Email List on a Daily Basis
Email marketing has a lot to do with the signatures you’re using, as they’re a great way to propel your reputation and notoriety when performing outreach strategies. For every outreach email you’re sending, you should be able to incorporate a call to action that’s subtle. Make sure you’re attracting only people whose intent for your products or services is powerful enough to stick through time. For instance, this example from Sumo explains it well:
You cannot access a larger audience exclusively through the prospect you connect to on social media, it takes more than this to build long-term relationships with your prospects. Email lists are a more consistent way of engaging with leads, as it serves as proof of their intent when it comes to your product or your content.
  45. Write a Response Post to Something/Someone Popular in the Niche
For instance, when everybody was praising Google’s new logo, there was a New Yorker article written by Sarah Larson, that had something to say about it, and it was massively popular because it treated something against the stream.
Google’s new visual identity was expected for a while now, and the Serifs made it look old-fashioned and too traditional for the values it stands for. However, this awesome article brought arguments for the old version of the logo and people loved it!
Every time when something’s gaining a lot of momentum, there will be people disagreeing with it, whose voices will not be heard because of the popular chanting around them. You can always take the time to be that voice for them, but don’t do it unless it really represents your position, otherwise, it could backfire later!
  Conclusion

What is Vero? 9 Things About the New Social Media App
Remember Orkut? Or Friendster? How about MySpace and Classmates?
Maybe you do, maybe you don’t, because social media platforms come and go faster than most of us can keep up. For every success like Snapchat, there are plenty of others that failed to gain any serious momentum, even if they were fun and innovative ideas.
Are you familiar with Vero?
You know Facebook, of course, and Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, and WhatsApp. They’re good (though not perfect). You probably use them at least once a day.
But we don’t find one platform that we like and stop. According to a recent study of social media in the United States, most people use an average of three of the top eight platforms.
Facebook and YouTube are used by a significant percentage of those on other sites and apps. Consider them the stalwarts. Most people have an account on those two behemoths (Facebook has 2.167 billion and YouTube 1.5 billion users) and at least one other platform.
But do you know Badoo, Snapfish, Tout, or Line? The point is, there are hundreds of social media platforms out there that you’ve never heard of, for virtually every niche, interest, or group of people.
Some won’t make it or be worth your time. But others may be the platform you’ve been looking for…
And that brings us back to Vero.
What is Vero Social Media?
The words “revolutionary” and “game-changer” are tossed around too much these days.
That said, I’m going to throw caution to the wind here. What is the Vero app? It’s nothing less than the evolution of social media. It’s both revolutionary and a game-changer. It’s true social.
Vero labels itself “more social, less media”, and with its focus on providing a natural and ad-free experience, it’s hard to argue with it. Initially launched a couple of years ago by billionaire Ayman Hariri, movie financier Motaz Nabulsi, and venture capitalist Scott Birnbaum, the platform has only started to take off recently.
Why exactly is anyone’s guess, but growing frustration with Instagram and its incredibly unpopular algorithm, combined with a growing number of data leaks on other platforms, may have been the catalyst.
According to Google Trends, Vero’s popularity as a search term has been steady albeit not spectacular over the past year. The spike seen above occurred around the time the Facebook data breach became big news and people were looking for alternatives.
Regardless of why, the app shot up from outside the top 1500 on the App Store, to #566, and finally #1 over the course of just a few days. It has since gone down again, but is seeing faster growth than at any other time in its history. Vero recently passed 3 million downloads.
“We wanted to build something that stood for something beyond a gimmicky, one-feature thing. We wanted it to be an extension of how you want to express yourself. [On other social apps] you’re performing for the crowd. Research shows that people are becoming more and more negatively affected by having to do that all the time. We wanted to create an online social network … that allows you to just be yourself.”
~Ayman Hariri, CEO of Vero
The Vero app strives for transparency where the other platforms prefer working behind the curtain.
Vero v. Instagram v. Facebook v. Twitter – Differences
On the surface, the Vero app is very similar to mainstays like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. You can post photos, videos, and links, share locations, or recommend books, music, and films. Others can like and comment on what you share. Sound familiar?
But it distinguishes itself in some very important ways: No ads. No algorithms rearranging your posts and limiting who sees what. No data mining. Chronological feeds.
In fact, Vero makes public its manifesto and business model for anyone interested in what they do, and why they do it. Vero believes that people naturally seek connections, and that explains the explosive growth of social media over the past 10-15 years.
Here’s what it all boils down to according to them:
But as time passed, an imbalance began to form between the interests of the platforms and the best interests of the users. We made our business model subscription-based. making our users our customers, not advertisers.
Basically, you are the product sold to advertisers on other platforms. Facebook makes billions selling ads to brands and companies based on the data they collect from their 2.167 billion users. You are not a customer to them. You are a product to be sold.
The same is true for Twitter and Snapchat and Instagram (owned by Facebook, lest we forget).
Vero takes the opposite approach. By using a subscription-based model, they’re beholden only to their users.
Every decision, every tweak, every new feature, every change to their design and interface needs to keep their users happy and satisfied. They need to respond to the needs of their users. They have to address the complaints of their users.
The user is the customer. The platform is the product. And that is a revolutionary idea in social media.
But that’s not all. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, LinkedIn, and others want you to spend as much time as possible on their platforms. They want you to engage in mindless scrolling of feeds for hours each and every day, because they collect data on your browsing behavior.
The more users they have, the more they can charge advertisers.
The longer you spend browsing feeds – which are increasingly becoming mostly ads and sponsored content – the more they can parade those statistics in front of their customers.
1.40 billion daily active Facebook users who spend an average of 20 minutes on the platform each visit is an enticing potential audience for an advertiser.
American adults spend an average of 25.29 minutes per day on Facebook. And they want you to continue doing that.
You don’t need me to tell you that social media is addictive. It’s designed that way. In fact, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter send out notifications intended to pull you back in to their platform over and over again throughout the day.
Here, once again, Vero sets itself apart.
While they do want you to use and enjoy the app, they also want you to be aware of how much time you spend on it.
To that end, there are no push notifications, and they are the first and only social media platform to include usage info on your dashboard. You can quickly see how much time you’ve spent on the app each day and each hour of that day.
The others don’t want you to think about that. Vero very much does. As they say, “social media should enhance your life, not detract from it.”
That too is a game-changer.
9 Things You Need to Know About Vero
There’s always a bit of a learning curve when you start using a new app or service. New features, new ways of accomplishing tasks, new terminology, and so on.
The Vero app is similar to other social media in some ways, and very different in others. It’s not well known…yet. Let’s take a closer look.
1. Vero was Launched in 2015
As mentioned earlier, Vero is no overnight success. It was launched in 2015 to little fanfare, and failed to generate much attention. It did reach #45 on the App Store, but quickly fell out of the top 1500 apps on the platform.
Its popularity over the past few years has been steady but unremarkable, with just a few hundred thousand downloads prior to its recent surge. But, as the saying goes, slow and steady wins the race.
Towards the end of February 2018, it had about 500,000 users. It doubled that in just 24 hours, adding 500,000 new users on iOS in the US alone.
Vero hit 3 million registered users on both Android and iOS in March 2018.
2. The App was Started Because of Personal Frustration
The men behind Vero weren’t looking to revolutionize the social media landscape. They were simply frustrated with what was available, and the pain-points of the major platforms.
To begin with, feeds on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter are subject to some mysterious algorithm that decides what to show, who to show, and when to show it. Those sites long ago abandoned the chronological feed, showing content from newest to oldest, much to the chagrin of users.
And then, of course, there’s the advertising issue. Over the past few years, the amount of ads and sponsored content in a typical feed has been creeping up. Platforms like Facebook are funded by those advertising dollars, so they’re more concerned with keeping their advertisers happy than their users.
“When I did [join existing social networks], I found the options for privacy were quite limited and difficult to understand, and when I decided to get on and connect with a few of my friends, I noticed that their behavior online was very different than their behavior in the real world.”
~Ayman Hariri
On traditional social media, we tend to overshare and – for lack of a better word – “exaggerate” our accomplishments and activities because it’s going to be seen by everyone.
The team behind the Vero app wanted to eliminate all of that.
3. Posts Can Be Photos, Text, Music, or TV shows
Or places, videos, films, and books. This allows you to truly share where you are, what you’re watching, reading, or listening to with your connections.
The app is geared towards a visual experience – just like Instagram – so even a post about a book you’re recommending will automatically feature an image of the cover. Likewise for a song, album, movie, or television show.
Photos and videos can be shared from your gallery, or you can opt to take a new one with your camera directly in the Vero app.
4. Friends v. Followers
They’re not the same.
Friends are people you actually know in the real world.
Followers (or fans) are those that choose to follow your account for some reason, usually because they enjoy your content.
Would you share some big news or a personal tragedy with strangers on the street? Probably not. You’d go to your close friends. But on social media, it’s an all-or-nothing situation that demands we either share with everyone or no one.
Vero makes it easy to differentiate between the two groups. In fact, they’ve created 4 categories (more on that in a minute).
5. Vero is Free. For Now.
The app will eventually work on a subscription model, requiring users to pay a few dollars each year.
When they first launched, Vero planned to give their first million users a free-for-life account, but with their recent uptick in downloads, that offer has been extended.
It won’t last forever, though. In order to provide that ad-free experience, they do need to generate revenue in some way.
The subscription fee – which will likely be less than the price of a cappuccino at Starbucks once every 365 days – will allow them to keep advertisers out and the customer experience their main and only concern.
In addition to that, Vero is using affiliate links on recommendation posts.
Click on a book, song/album, or downloadable film or show, and you’re instantly taken to the corresponding purchase platform where you can opt to buy it. If you do, a small portion of that sale will go to Vero.
6. You Can’t Register for Vero on Their Website
Registration for Vero can only be done via the app. There is no option to sign up on their website.
7. Users Can Categorize “Connections”
This is another key differentiator between Vero and Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and the like. Instead of only having one large group – fans/followers – there are actually four different categories for each connection you make:
Close Friends
Friends
Acquaintances
Followers
Every time you publish a post, you’ll be able to select which groups will see it with a simple sliding bar.
Want to share something with only your closest friends? No problem. Have another post to send out to everyone? Piece of cake.
You have complete control over who you share with…just like in real life.
8. Vero’s Interface is Different from Facebook and Instagram
You’ll immediately notice the color scheme is nothing like the other platforms. We’ve all experienced the slap-in-the-face bright light that comes with checking your Facebook feed at night. Vero uses a black background with white text and teal highlights. It looks great, and is much easier on your eyes.
There are no usernames on Vero like we see on Instagram and Twitter. You set your first and last name, and that’s what people see on your posts (although there’s nothing stopping you from using something other than your actual name).
And if you’ve ever struggled with making your photo fit the required square or rectangular shape and still look great, you’ll appreciate the fact that Vero accepts images of all shapes and sizes. No cropping required.
You can choose to edit your photos in the app itself – including a variety of filters like Instagram – but you don’t have to make any changes if you don’t want to.
Along the top of your homepage, you see five icons (L-R): search, your user profile, collections (everything shared with you is organized into categories for easy search and retrieval), notifications (you’ll receive one whenever someone wants to connect with you so you can accept and categorize them…but don’t worry, as only you can see what category you’ve assigned them), and chat.
Hit the “+” button to share a new post, and you’re whisked away to the Create Post page. Select your post type – Camera (including stuff from your gallery), Music, Book, Link, Movie/TV, or Place – and share. Make a recommendation (or not), add a comment (or not), and finally select the connection categories that will see it. Done.
From your user profile dashboard, you can manage your connections and account settings, review your previous posts and those shared with you under collections, send and review connection requests, and monitor your usage info.
9. You Can Add an Avatar
I know what you’re thinking: big whoop. All social media platforms let you set a profile picture or avatar. That’s true.
But Vero takes it a step further and lets you set up to three different avatars for the three main categories of connections. Your close friends will see Avatar A, while acquaintances will see Avatar B.
You may want to have a bit of fun with your “close friends” avatar while presenting a more professional image to your “acquaintances”. Head to Settings > Avatars > Use Three Avatars, and select the image you want for each group. Easy.
Should You Join?
It depends. Vero is a relatively new social media network, and that comes with some growing pains and glitches. The app is officially still in Beta.
It has somewhere in the vicinity of 3 million users so far, but that obviously pales in comparison to Facebook’s 2+ billion, Instagram’s 800 million, or Twitter’s 330 million. If you’re looking for everyone to be there, you may want to wait a bit longer.
Some big names have already jumped on the bandwagon, though, including Rita Ora, Selena Gomez, and Zack Snyder. Look for the check mark icon to indicate an official and verified profile, but be aware that your favorite guilty pleasure (Kim Kardashian, anyone?) may not be there.
But – and this is very important – if you’re tired of the ads, the algorithms, and the extinction of the chronological feed, then yes, you should join.
How to Use Vero
If you’ve ever signed up for a social media account, you’ll find Vero a breeze to get going. Even if you’ve never had a social media profile (those people still exist, right?), you’ll still find it a piece of cake.
1. Download the Vero app
Vero is available for both iOS and Android.
2. Sign up
Once you’ve downloaded and installed the app, you’ll have to provide a few details to get registered: your first and last name, your email address, and your mobile phone number. Within seconds, you should receive a text message with a 4-digit PIN that you need to enter in order to continue. This is used to verify your telephone.
3. Add an avatar
After registering and verifying your details, you can write your brief bio – you’re given up to 150 characters – and select your avatar from either your image gallery, or by taking a new photo within Vero itself.
4. Add connections
Your feed may look a little neglected at first because you’re not following anyone and you haven’t posted anything yet. But that’s easy to fix.
You can search for profiles to follow by name, hashtag, or keywords. Find the personalities and brands that matter to you, and follow them. Reach out to your friends, and connect (and assign them an appropriate connection category).
Add new connections at any time by clicking the teal + in the top-right corner on your connections dashboard.
Another great feature in Vero is the ability to filter what you see from every connection. Have that one friend who posts 30+ cat videos every day of the week? Turn off videos for that one person, and those damn cats will never clog your feed again.
5. Start posting
With a few connections under your belt, click the “+” button and make your first post. Share what you’re reading, watching, or listening to right now. Or let others know where you are right now. Or share a thought, photo, or video.
With its unparalleled control, you only share what you want with whom you want, and only see what you want from whom you want.
And everyone sees it all ad-free and in chronological order.
Conclusion
Social media isn’t going anywhere. Social media marketing is a crucial cog for any business or brand. Platforms rise. Platforms fall.
Will Vero buck the trend of “suddenly popular, gone by next week” that plagued apps-of-the-week like Peach and Meerkat? Only time will tell, but you have to admire the foundation and core beliefs behind the platform.
Less media. More social. No ads. No data mining. Be a user, not a product.
True social.
Have you checked out Vero yet? Why or why not? What’s holding you back?
