More resident evil 8 Au things!
I 10000% agree with you that out of the entire family besides Mirabel her parents are the ones that hate/dislike Miranda the most for obvious reasons. I would say the list of people who hate Miranda goes like this
Mirabel
Julieta and Augustine
Isabel and Luisa
Alma
Pepa and Felix
Camilo and Dolores
Bruno
Antonio
And I thought I might as well flesh out some of the time line so Miranda kidnapped Mirabel at age 8 and experimented on her immediately when they got back to the village it took a week after the experiment for Mirabel to wake up and when she did she stayed with Miranda for two weeks in her house being called Eva the entire time. After that two weeks Miranda sent her to live with Alcina and her Daughters and she lived there with them while her house was being built for about four years. Alcina and the girls were so happy/excited to have her there, Alcina and the girls decorated a room for her and they cleaned up the old playroom and the room that Alcina used to homeschool the girls and had set up a schooling schedule for her (the girls wanted to help Alcina) all before she was even sent to live with them of course Miranda also had a time slot for her schooling it basically went Alcina-Math, art, music and basic social studies Miranda-science(all categories)Daniela- english, Romanian and European history Cassandra- Spanish, German and African history Bela- Greek, Latin and North/South American history. While Mirabel was living there she was absolutely spoiled and doted on as the baby of the family but when she was 12 Miranda made her move into the house that was built for her and made her start doing more Lord tasks (experimenting, going to the church etc.) and she saw less of Alcina and the girls. She completely transforms her section of the village in about 2 years of taking control of it so at 14, she worked long and hard with the villagers in her area going house to house figuring out all the needs of that house and using the money she has access to from Miranda to get them things and because she started putting the money back into the community helping them they in turn were able to have better crop and meat out put which increased the areas income as well after seeing how well her area was and how terrible the other Lords areas were Mirabel talked to Miranda about making the other Lords do the same but Miranda told her outright no stating that way the other Lords do with their free time is none of her business and that as long as they continue to do the experiments like she asks she won't bother them with the care of the villagers so long as they weren't killing too many. So Mirabel, wanting to help the villagers in the other areas, created the orphanage but it's not just an orphanage it's also a school that way the villagers have access to education freely and can try and do better that way. Mirabel gets her family back at 16 and they live with her two months into them living with her the interrupted dinner with Miranda happens and two months after that the family is experimented on three months after the experiments they meet the Dimitrescu family for dinner a month after that they meet Karl when he burst into the house anger at Mirabel because a 16 year old boy he was hoping to have work in his factory was going to her school instead, they meet Monroe two months after Karl when Miranda brought him over to discuss some experiment over with him and Mirabel, they meet Donna and Angie last four months after that Donna had decided to go over to Mirabel's to go over their doll/clothes ideas, they usually do it over at her house because she doesn't like to leave the house very often.
As always any and all artwork is appreciated and loved!
SORRY THIS TOOK ME SO LONG TO ANSWER RAHHHH 🌚🌚🌚
Willing to bet that if they were to rank her on a tier list, Miranda would be in F tier 🧌
But like. Can Mirabel catch a break. She was snatched away from her family and didn't see them for what, 9 years??? I mean jeez, let her BREATH. And sure, she had a substitute family, but let's be real, they aren't exactly the best when it comes to raising or caring for an emotionally and mentally vulnerable child. And then Mother Miranda, with her jealousy and wanting Miranda to be Eva like??? What is WRONG with her 😭😭 in what world is that ok??
And then at 12, literally a child, not even a teenager, she was dropped into a pseudo-Casita that, from what I'm assuming, wasn't alive yet. And even if it was. That doesn't change the fact that she was a child left to run a village and be made to do all these terrible things. And then attend meetings and services along side it 🌚 and being Miranda's favorite didn't change a DAMN thing, she's still treated pretty badly, like face the facts
AND?? WHEN SHE GOT HER FAMILY BACK?? 4 months later she was forced to experiment on them, against her and their will. And Lord knows that if she refused, Miranda would've done something even worse than death 🤠 AND YOU KNOW?? She still manages to be a better leader among the other 4.
Someone get these guys outta here, including Ethan and Rose 😭😭
Unfortunately I was only able to do these two <33 honestly this just helps me visualize them better, but. If you feel like they should look different, lemme know 🤭🤭 or if you have any ideas for what the family to look like. Because I still haven't based them all on bugs yet 🤓☝
Also??? I think as Antonio got older, the mold in his eye spread. Not to his other eye, just a little on the right side of his face and some of his neck. He can still see out if one eye, so at least he's good there <\\33

HI I DREW SOME OF YOUR CLASS SWAP AU BC I REALLY LOVE IT IM GONNA PUT SOME OF MY IDEAS ON IT BELOW:
MUDD:
- So Mudd left really early, I'd say Seuss didn't even really know he was going to leave so she had no time to put the rocks in his care.
- I feel like he wandered around the woods ferally. Like Kyborg, but more feral somehow. He still loves animals of course but he wasn't really into being a Druid, which is why Suess didn't know; He didn bond as much with her.
- He wears his old clothes from the castle, but he didn't get time to grab a bunch so he had to learn how to patch clothes from trial and error. Most of his skills were learned from trial and error.
- Hates being proper. I feel like every proper thing he learned from his childhood was forgotten when he was forced to live in the woods, because who needs to know what fork to use when you don't have any?
- Hisses at people accidentally when he actually interacts with humanoids. He is like Kyborg essentially, awkward as hell. But unlike Kyborg, he isn't cocky or arrogant to make up for it, he just shrinks into himself. He doesn't talk much, and communicates in sign language most of the time.
- His hair is longer and more dirty, and he has plants in his hair because he never finds time to brush his hair.
KYBORG:
- He managed to escape the woods before his mom was blown up, he ran until he couldn't anymore. He was found in ürbloom and adopted by idk someone. He remembers his mom's lessons on the violin and starts practicing really hard.
- He is more charismatic because he had actual family and friends to talk with in Urbloom.
- Sadly, his family was human so he had to watch them die.
- I feel like he still works out, but more of a swimmers build if that makes sense???
BART:
- Yeah so he didn't go back and he spent his life on the pirate ship.
- He swears way too much, no Gum Gum = no need to censor his words.
- He learned how to use the cannons and also how to use swords.
- Imagine a cool sword battle and that's him.
GUM GUM:
- He woke up because of his connection with nature.
- Nature just seems to respond to him, and he doesn't really question it.
- He can kinda control the weather and environment around him???
-Kinda like Pepa from Encanto but like idk more in control.
- Plants and flowers grow from where he steps.
- He doesn't really visit anywhere else because the orchardage is his home, and he feels so connected to nature there.
Hope you liked these????

This is very dumb but I went through the effort of minimally editing this thing so might as well post it.
Presenting a silly oneshot where TBTK Bruno gets to reunite with his sisters. Only there's one small problem. They're not his sisters, and their version of him has been missing for nine years. He might as well do something about that while he's there.
This didn't make any sense.  First everyone in this town seemed to automatically be wary of him. Then he heard them muttering his real name under his breath and now—
Now he was in the middle of a hug with Julieta and Pepa and it didn't make any sense. They were sobbing demanding where he'd been, demanding to know why he left
Was he hallucinating? He wasn't dead, he knew that. He had to be hallucinating. Right?
“Bruno!”
At last he finally choked out the first thing that came to mind, ignoring their own questions. “How are you here? You were both — I don't understand — how is this possible?”
“What Bruno? Of course we're here, where else would we be besides the Encanto? Where have you been, it's been nine years! We thought you—”
He pulled back abruptly. “What? No, this isn't the Encanto. Have you lost your mind? This is nothing like home! Or at least… I don't think it is. I can't really remember that much about what it looked like, it's been too long but it was definitely bigger than this valley. And what do you mean 9 years it's been centuries. What happened? How did you escape?”
Julieta’s eyebrows were furrowed in concern. "You're not making any sense, let's get you out of the sun and back to Casita then I'm sure we can talk everything out."
"For the record I am still furious at you for leaving," Pepa huffed, "But I'm just happy you're back. You have good timing. Mirabel's quince is in a week."
"Her what?"
"Her quinceñera? You know? That really important moment in a teenage girl's life that you missed for our other daughters?"
"I know what a quinceñera is! What I don't know is how you know what it is. …or how you're speaking Spanish."
He took another step back, that little bit of hope that this was real was shattering into a million pieces. "This isn't real. Of course it's not real Bruno, it's been 400 years. Why would you suddenly find your sisters in some random mountain village…"
"Oye! Madrigal!" Suddenly a woman with braids was in his face brandishing a sandal. You've got some nerve showing up here again after you killed my goldfish!" As an afterthought "and after you abandoned your family."
Bruno snatched the sandal and tossed it to the side. "I did not abandon my family. Failed them? Yes. Abandoned them? No. Also I've killed a lot of things but never a goldfish."
"What?! You dare—"
He pinched the bridge of his nose. "Look I have no idea who you are and I'm trying to figure out if I've finally cracked or if there's something else going on so please leave."
Julieta and Pepa stared slack-jawed at the interaction between Pezmuerto and the man who looked like their timid brother but acted nothing like him. Pezmuerto stormed off and he began pacing, mumbling to himself about being too old for this, going insane a century ago, and family members trapped as statues.
Hesitantly Julieta reached out and tapped him on the shoulder. "I think, maybe it'd be best to try and figure this out at Casita."
:::
“Tell me if I’ve got this straight. Your name is Bruno Madrigal but you’re not our Bruno Madrigal because your version of our family was turned to stone before the Spanish even got to South America and the man who did that cursed you to be immortal.”
“Almost, you’re forgetting I sent the kids to the future. They’ll show up eventually and then we’re going to try to break the curse on the others.”
“Right, how could I forget that part?” Julieta sounded as tired as Bruno felt
“And for your family, Pedro was murdered trying to protect Alma and you three and that created the miracle?”
Pepa bit the inside of her cheek. “Don’t let Mama hear you say that but yes that is one way to put it.”
“So what happened to your Bruno?”
Pepa and Julieta both looked towards the family tree painted on the wall. “We don’t…usually talk about him anymore. But given the circumstances…”
Julieta sighed, “We don’t know. We couldn’t find him the day after Mirabel didn’t get a gift. That day turned into a week then a month and now it’s been ten years since we last saw him. Mama says he must have left the valley but—”
“You have to be a skilled mountain climber to get out of the valley and our Bruno definitely wasn’t one of them.” Pepa’s voice dropped to a whisper. “His door went dark, his room fell apart— Mama may insist he’s alive but…”
“You think he’s dead.”
They both nodded silently as Pepa’s cloud started to drizzle.
Bruno stood. These may not be his sisters but they clearly were versions of them and he wasn’t going to sit around while a version of him was off somewhere causing them pain. “If I find out he is dead, do you want to know?”
They looked at him sharply. “What?”
“How are you supposed to find him when we haven’t been able to for a decade?”
Oh right he hadn’t told them that part. “I guess now would be a good time to mention I can do a lot more than just see the future.”
:::
After getting something of Bruno’s from his room (he felt a smidge more sympathy for the other Bruno after seeing the huge amount of stairs to the vision cave. If they shared a fear of heights that must have been horrible) he had gone deeper into the jungle to perform the seeking spell away from prying eyes. Only for it to take him right back to Casita.
Invisibly skirting around the family members proved physically easy— even if it was emotionally devastating. The spell led him to a painting on the second floor. A painting that had opened.
Which was how he was now in the walls of Casita staring open mouthed at the other Bruno, curled up in a ball, asleep, in the corner of this dingy little room.

Mirabel the Miracle Maker au
Tumblr media
Ok, so this starts out as Mirabel making a doll for Pepa named Antonio (in an attempt to get attention and love from her family). Pepa took him, but she only ever held him once or twice. after that, he was just left in the corner collecting dust. Mirabel didn't like that and took him back(Pepa didn't care) and began to care for him and basically claimed him as her own. And then after one year of caring for him, Antonio came to life on her 10th birthday.
This was very shocking for the family. She had no gift and no door why was he alive? Mirabel had a sudden realization that she could bring dolls to life so she started making more. This news got out into the town and some people started asking if she could make them pets or children and she gladly accepted the challenge.
As for her family. She didn't care about their validation anymore she had a real purpose now. something that could actually help people(not that she took any of her family's gifts for granted). Alma tried to connect with Mirabel after that but she wasn't having it. All those years of neglect from alma and NOW she wanted to do something with her? Mirabel politely declined Alma's offer. Mirabel will only help if she had the energy to not because she has to.
The town respects that she needs time to herself. So if one of the villagers asked for a child/pet and Mira said she needed a break they would accept it and leave her be. they know she will get to it at some point.
The village was so pleased and grateful for her gift that they made her a shop on her 13th birthday. It had thread, needles, clay, backup sewing machines, fabric, just everything she needed.
On the banner in front of the shop, it said "here's where miracles happen" Mirabel was so happy she cried so much. She didn't leave that shop until she fell asleep there and Luisa had to carry her out
As for the children they can range from regular sized or as tall as your pinky/index finger. She can make them any age you want and they can look however you want.
-
I am in love with this au so much(possibly more than the others)!!! if you have any questions or ideas/prompts my ask box is open! If not I hope you like this au as much as I do. likes and comments are appreciated.
As always thank you @gamerbearmira for the ideas

Do you any more takes on Carlos being a Madrigal?
I sure do, I'm writing a whole fic!
Carlos had no idea who his father was for a very long time. That's because marriages are not registered on the Isle but also because Cruella forbade everyone to tell Carlos anything about his father, name included (no one talks about Bruno, no matter the universe he's in, poor man). The only thing he knew was that his father had been chased out of Hell Hall at some point and never came back. He doesn't know Bruno actually never left but hid in Hell Hall's secret passageways and stuff, just to take care of him in secret.
Carlos, as the Disney prince(ss) he is, is beloved by pets, in particular, his cat Beelzebub and Bruno's rats have an agreement only for his sake. It's more a truce than else, but they work together to make sure Bruno knows things and can help when Carlos is in a pinch. Dude will be included in the loop, at some point, once Beebs will stop being jealous, and Dude won't bark at all of them anymore.
Carlos is touch-starved, Bruno is even more so, meaning that once they are officially reunited they end up being rather affectionate with each other. Ruffled hair, pats on the back, side hugs, full hugs, anything goes. Evie thinks it's cute, the VKs, in general, are a bit envious, until Bruno figures out and starts doting on them too (except for Mal, Hades is a jealous dad and Bruno likes to be alive, so Mal is the one who has to start any contact).
When it comes the time to meet the Madrigals, Carlos is worried he won't fit in, and this never quite goes away, even years later. He goes along with them as well as he does with Diego and his other de Vil relatives, if not more, but it's not enough to make him move to Encanto for good.
Among his aunts and uncles, his favorite is Julieta: she's everything he imagined a good mom would be and she dotes on him a lot, even more so after she finds out about the kind of childhood he had. He likes Pepa too, but her temper reminds him a bit too much of Cruella's at times, with the added malus of the thundering, which scares him. His second favorite is Felix, for the sole reason he's sunshine incarnate and he can calm down or make smile everyone, two things Carlos desperately needed.
Among the cousins, Mirabel is the one he's closest to (they bond a lot in the fic), the second is Antonio (they bond a lot over animals and being the youngest in the family).
His relationship with Abuela is complicated at best, they both are aware that the lost time can never come back and they have a hard time understanding each other at times, although they try. Abuela hates that Cruella manipulated Bruno and Carlos to the point of making them so nervous with people (more than they'd naturally be) and sees some of her own faults mirrored in it, Carlos sees she tries to fix her mistakes and is a lot more forgiving than he is with his mother. Also, knowing Abuela's sometimes hard personality comes from trauma, he starts to try to figure out what went wrong with his own mother (that could be a fic on its own, now that I think about it).
He won't stay to live in Encanto, although after the rebuilding he'll have his own room there. He'll come back often enough, though, every summer at least (I refuse to acknowledge Carlos' canon death or anything after D3. Actually, D3 is on thin ice too). Since he becomes a veterinarian, with a side specialization/hobby in inventing machinery for pet care, he has his own studio in Encanto. Antonio will follow in his footsteps and will become a vet too, taking over the studio when Carlos isn't there.
Abuela wanted to meet Jane as soon as she heard of her. It was very awkward at first, Jane was a nervous wreck and couldn't talk much, which didn't leave a good first impression, the one who helped the most was Camilo, who started making jokes and impressions until Jane laughed and calmed down enough for the things to flow. Carlos will be eternally grateful to Camilo for it.
Cruella will never ever set foot in Encanto and it's better this way. Pepa would kill her if she did, all the Madrigals were so horrified by how she treated Bruno and Carlos that they hate her without even needing to meet her.
The de Vil cousins and the Madrigal kids get along like a house on fire. Literally, Ivy and Isabela almost set Casita on fire. They claim it was an accident, Hunter and Dolores know better, Carlos pretends he has no idea, Camilo actually has it all on camera and would have used it as blackmail if Luisa had not deleted it all.
And whoops, I think it's long enough, for now ;)

Encanto OC Appreciation Week 2: Alejandra and Bruno. Kindred Spirits
Tumblr media
(This was so tough to write! There's a lot that happens but editing what can be saved for a finale.)
Bruno's very nervous with Alejandra since he doesn't know how to ask if she's Mercedes's child. He's also afraid to learn what Mercedes might've gone through and if she's dead. Alejandra's clearly an adult, but he feels like he should offer safety. Regardless of anxieties, they chat a little. Funny enough, its Bruno's rat, Beatriz, who keeps approaching Alejandra. Of course, this leads to her returning the rat or Bruno fetching her. More small talk, but Bruno doesn't inquire any questions of her family.
Meanwhile, Alejandra keeps it together best she can while in the Encanto. Everyone's nice, but doubt sneaks up. She fears they're judging her habits or desire to be alone. (Bruno's noticed she moves her hands/fingers a lot when nervous.) She keeps thinking she should leave soon. Among other emotions, she breaks down after two days and nearly panics trying to find solace. Of all days, it's June 26th, 15th year anniversary since Mercedes died. Casita kindly shows her a hiding place inside the walls. After weeping there, Alejandra's horrified when Bruno arrives, but he's more concerned why she's upset. Despite not being social, we know he's not heartless. He channels that caring uncle side as if Alejandra was his own niece. She doesn't reveal everything but mentions a little of her fight with Pablo. It's here that Bruno decides it doesn't matter if Alejandra's related to Mercedes. If she is, amazing! If she's not, that's okay. This young lady's hurt and needs support.
The next day, Alejandra mentions her mother passed away and that's another reason she was upset. Dots are connected and the major question asked. The triplets are devastated learning Mercedes died. Alejandra heard very little of her mom's childhood so now she's curious. Julieta and Pepa provide some history but give a major tip: "You'd have to ask Bruno. He and your mama were very close." Apprehensive, Alejandra approaches him and inquires if he's okay answering her questions. Though grieved, they have a long talk about Mercedes. By the time it's over, they're in tears, but feel connected. They promise to talk more before Alejandra leaves. She decides to extend her stay.
They talk more over the next couple of days and strangely click. Both love rodents, artistic hobbies and keep a rosary in their pockets. They have corresponding mannerisms and humor. Alejandra helps Bruno set up new rat mazes. After he reveals he's not good riding horses, she tries teaching him to comedic results. (Good thing her horse, Acosta, is patient!)
She feels comfortable discussing her main problem. She thought her father was close with her, but realized they weren't. He was trying to shape her into his idea of a perfect daughter. Hence, her self-esteem issues and preferring Mercedes. She thinks she must've caused problems for things to go bad. Maybe something's wrong with her? Should she try talking to him again? Maybe she deserves being ignored by him. Bruno didn't want to have another vision again if he could help it. Yet, hearing Alejandra's grief, sounding so similar to his at her age, maybe he could?
He offers to see her future, but he can't promise anything good. Alejandra appreciates and truly understands. She witnesses the vision which like Mirabel's is undecided. Bruno advises it's up to her and Pablo for the outcome. If it doesn't work, she can have another future. Alejandra knows, but based on past experience she's afraid. Bruno opens how he let his pained past affect his future. A key part of the story is that he's reflecting his life. He's seeing himself in Alejandra and hopes she can have a better chance.
He also gives her the past tablet of young Mercedes with a baby. Alejandra admits it might be her or Francisca but can't tell. She encourages Bruno to keep it. Now he has a picture of both his friends. She also gives him a map of Colombia with Francisca's handwriting so the family can see more outside of the Encanto. She'll be fine without it since she's traveled cross country a few times.
After Alejandra returns home, Bruno misses her and hopes she'll visit again. He'll end up having to visit instead after having a vision that she's in danger: she's trapped in burning building. Well, after lots of discussion and planning, he travels with the map to guide. It's a long and unusual trip, but he's relieved to find Alejandra safe. She's overjoyed to see him, and they catch up. She mentions Pablo refused to talk and while it hurt, she took Bruno's advice. She realizes everything she thought her relationship was to Pablo, is really what Bruno's friendship is to her. She wishes she had a father like him.

Pepa likes big men on top of her...so I can just picture her being sick and clingy and wanting to feel warm and safe so she somehow gets Felix to lay on top of her and cuddle her that way because she feels safe with him and he's plenty warm
Oooh i love a good snuggly prompt-
Félix admired Pepa. She was sick, and refused to use some of Julieta's arepas to heal herself (ever since the Encanto opened, Julieta had been volunteering outside, so she left arepas for emergencies when she was out of town), despite his insistence. It was fine though, he was her husband, it was his job to take care of her. He carried the tray of tea and broth (no actual bits of food, she claimed her jaw hurt too much) to her room, gently knocking on the door to let her know he was here.
"Pepa? Mi amor, how are we feeling?"
"I'm killing my sister when she gets here. I deserve my own arepas."
"Oh, mi poor bebè. It's okay, your husband is here."
He prompted her to sit up a bit, despite her claiming she could totally eat from her position on her stomach. He held the bowl in his hand, and started to feed it to her.
"I'm NOT a baby, Félix."
"Shh, you're my baby. Now drink, I spent all day making it for you."
She wanted to be stubborn, but he could tell she was genuinely enjoying the hot broth. She relaxed a bit, graciously holding onto his hand after every spoonful as if thanking him.
"Thank you. I know I'm hard to take care of."
"What makes you say that?"
She pointed to the tarp above them, holding the pouring rain she was making. The things he had to do to keep her spot dry and clean. Well, the bed at least. He sighed as he put the bowl down, holding onto her hand and kissing it.
"It's not difficult. It's different. When I married you, I promised I'd do anything to make your life better. It's the least I can do for making MY life better."
She looked so cute with just a little bit of mist on her face.
"Aw, Félix...thats so-!"
She sneezed hard enough to scare him, and she groaned uncomfortably as her face just ran with boogers. She wasn't dying or anything, but jeez his Pepi was SICK. He helped her clean up with a few tissues, and kissed her boiling hot cheek. Félix pretty much never got sick, so he had no qualms still giving his wife the affection she deserved.
"Ya, it's okay. Now, I made you that tea Julieta makes to put you to sleep. Let's have some."
"I want cake with it."
"The sugar will keep you up."
She pouted like a child, and the cloud darkened. She hated being told no, more than anyone, but she forced herself to not whine. He helped her drink her tea, and he swore as soon as she finished the last drop, her eyes grew droopy. Good, maybe she can FINALLY take a nap today. He put everything on the tray, and Félix lightly patted her lap in an attempt to soothe her. She groaned a bit in discomfort, and a crackle of thunder formed from her clearly not being happy.
"I won't stay asleep. I know it."
The most she slept today was about two minutes. He sighed, hating that he felt so useless. If he could have a power, it'd be healing. It'd give Julieta such a break, and it was something that his Pepa could use whenever she wanted.
"Do you have any idea what WOULD help mami sleep?"
"Get on top of me."
Now don't get him wrong, his wife was always sexy, rain or shine. But the last thing you should do is fuck someone who's sick enough to pass out.
"Pepa, I LOVE you, and you're ALWAYS sexy, but I don't think sick fucking would-"
"Not like THAT, tonto!"
She hissed, throwing a used tissue in his direction.
"I MEANT sleep with me, while you lay ON me."
"...Pepa I'm not sure if you've seen how big your husband is. I'm going to crush you."
She raised her nose at him, huffing angrily.
"Fine, go then. A husband that won't cuddle his wife."
"You know I didn't mean it like that."
She tried to kick him, but she was so weak, she missed him completely.
"Go. Leave me to suffer and wither."
So his wife was a bit of a drama queen, at least when she was sick. He sighed, and sat up a bit.
"Shirt on or off?"
"Cabrón, when have I EVER said on?"
"...literally never. Even at your babyshower. Which I still don't understand-"
"Shirt."
He held his hands up in defeat, and took off his shirt. He was confused on how to do this in a light way, when she lost her patience. She grabbed his hand, and just YANKED him. He fell on top of her with a decent amount of force, and he was about to apologize, when her hands wrapped his head, and she sighed. It was the first sound she made today that didn't sound angry or tired, or aching.
"I'm...not hurting you?"
"If I was hurt, you'd be on the floor. I like this. Why, are you uncomfortable?"
She was so warm. Her skin was so soft. He could even hear her heart beat like this. He wrapped his arms around her, giving her just a little squeeze.
"Not at all. This is...nice. I mean I like you laying on me but this is. Nice. I like it when you're under me."
"Hmm. I like this too. You're big and heavy and it makes me feel...seguro. Like nothing can hurt me."
He kissed the skin underneath him, humming in content.
"Nothing will ever hurt you. Ever. If it makes you feel safe, we can stay like this forever."
"What about the kids?"
"Dolores is an adult, Camilo acts like hes an adult, and Antonio...can be raised by wolves. Little wolf boy."
That made her snort, and it was a beautiful sound.
"No, not the wolves. I'd hate to cut holes in his pants."
"Why would you have to do that?"
"You know. For the tail."
He looked up at her, trying not to snort himself.
"No he's a wolf boy, not a wolf. Why would he need clothes if he's a wolf?"
"Do you WANT our son to be an outcast?"
"...Pepa?"
"What?"
"Marry me all over again."
She rolled her eyes at him, letting her head fall back as she got more uncomfortable under his weight.
"Idiota. I'd gladly do it again. My own blanket, wherever I go."
His thumbs slowly rubbed at the skin, savoring the small woman underneath him. Truth be told, he WOULD stay like this forever, cuddling her and protecting her from the world.
"Anytime you want, Pepa. Even if you're sick. I love you. I love you so much, I'm happy to just know someone as wonderful as you exists, and-"
He looked up at her, realizing she was asleep. He softly smiled at his sick baby, knowing she was out for good. He closed his eyes, about to join her, when he damn near jumped at a guttural snore. It was like sleeping with a goddamn lumberjack. He had been married to her for years, and he STILL jumped by those damn snores.
He could never get sick of his wife.

maria fernanda " mafe " jaramillo was born on devils night ( or at least that's what her grandmother used to say ) , born two minutes earlier than her twin brother at 3:00 am on october 31st, in medellin colombia. she was the first girl out of five boys , everyone who laid eyes on her enamored with the prized jewel of the jaramillo family. her life was anything but normal , being much more privileged than most of the people that she encountered , at a young age she didn't know much about , what it meant to be a jaramillo. she was aware that her family was well respected , never having to wait for anything , being fed from a gold spoon ( literally ) and having anything that her heart desired.when camilo was born , it was like she had her own personal little doll to play with. she adored him , with every being in her soul, protected him from her fathers righteous ways and her older brothers bullying , at the youngest jaramillo. she never thought that she could love someone as much as her little brother but as the grew older , she realized that having the last name jaramillo , wasn't all it was cracked out to be. though as she got older, she learned what would happen if anyone disrespected , anyone with the last name jaramillo, DEATH was the only revenge.
she was about twelve , when her eldest brother and her twin decided to go to business . she was in charge of making sure that everything was ready for their return, though what she didn't expect was to only welcome one brother back , the other one was gone : killed by the mexican cartels orders. since that moment everything changed , her mother decided that she didn't want the same life for her younger kids , especially not for camilo. pepa and herself , already had a taste and even though , she could level with it , violence was pepa's own vice : something that he could not quite quit . so that was it , their life in colombia had ended and miami it was. her father had some connections down here, people who still valued and idolized their family name , as crazy as it sounded.
music helped her deal with her life , it helped her sort of go to a world where their was an escape. where her life seemed just a very bad nightmare. miami was ideal but it wasn't colombia. she missed the food , she missed the people . god , she missed her ocean. on her fifteenth birthday , her mother wanted to do this big party for her. everyone who was someone , was going to show up. they were out looking through some ideas on what she wanted but nothing seemed to stick out to her , so they had one last party planner to meet with. as they were making their way to the car , mafe had forgotten her phone and decided to go back for it. it all happened in a split second , the loud BOOM echoed around her , smoke filling up her hues , the sharp noise that echoed in her ears seemed to distract her from looking for her mother. it wasn't until she looked for her that she saw the car up in flames. by the time she wanted to run and check on her mother, people were holding her back and the rest was simply a blur.
a lot of things changed for the whole family, sunday dinners had become meetings and there wasn't much life in the household. pepa and mafe decided to try their luck in the city of dreams and luckily enough , both of them were known for something more than just the cartel family. their faces changed peoples perspective of them , the twins were doing what they did best and that was putting on a show , a damn good one at that. it wasn't long til mafe met someone , this one took her for a loop. she thought that love could save her, and after just a few months they decided to marry. she thought this could save her, this could heal her but as the day came, she ran ----- she ran and never looked back. leaving the man that could have loved her, could have given her a good life but deep down she didn't need anyone to take care of her , she would do that all by herself.

This may be a stupid question since you kind of explained it but I still don’t quite understand. Why did Dweller Dolores run to the underground? I know it has something to do with a gang and Mirabel but why couldn’t she tell Alma or someone about the gang?
Tumblr media
Ahh good question :) I will eventually drabble this from Dweller Dolores
So, my thought process was the gang is a downtown group, ones that don't like the usage of magic to cut corners; doctors made redundant by Julieta, and people being careless and dependant on the Madrigals. That's their issue with gifts but they also see the necessity of keeping the protection the Encanto has with the miracle.
It is hypocritical when it's in their favour and interests but they don't see it like that.
Bruno was the first target bc they believed he was cursing the Encanto with his gift, one of them lost a family member after a vision so it's personal.
They target Mirabel bc if the miracle is fading, then the girl is a risk at bringing down Encanto's protection from the outside hostilities.
After Mirabel 'disappeared', the risks still hung in the air bc they didn't know if she'd resurface as a danger and they couldn't find her conventionally after 3 years... so they eventually figured Dolores of all people would have answers to find Mirabel. They did suspect Bruno kidnapped her away but no proof behind those ideas.
Dolores knows a lot of secrets and with a group they can hide evidence from the madrigals; Dolores has had her gift for 10 years by the time she leaves but she's been called a liar before and blamed a lot for what she hears.
She can say that there's a gang, but how could she prove it when there's little evidence to back up her claim? Groups of people work together all the time, social groups even for evening drinks... to a high standing family it's normal to see people together.
Encanto may be relatively small but it's not uncommon in this AU for people to venture away by one reason or another. Some new people find their way in, like Agustin's family a few years after it's founding so there's minor, minor migration. People disappearing isn't going to shake the town...unless it's an important family.
Now, Dolores knows there's danger. Even if Alma does believe her, this now shines a light that despite their gifts, they are still outnumbered by the people of Encanto.
The downtown group can play the long game to get one Madrigal alone if it meant getting her to comply. Long game to let any suspicious on them fade into the background before they make their next move. Alma is not a young woman and a timely 'accident' can shake the town if Alma gets hurt or worse, killed. Alma though tends to live with an illusion that Encanto is without a problem and the group knows that and Dolores knows that.
Dolores went with the option of leaving which was plausible for her parents to buy and meant she couldn't be searched for because she needed the Downtown gang to believe she left of her own free will. So they didn't think Madrigals were staying behind the walls to protect her.
So her family needed to genuinely believe that and have genuine reactions to be seen by Encanto. Given Pepa Madrigal is her mother; her reactions going to have to be spectacular to be believed and her father would never lie to her mother, so she couldn't tell her parents.
When Bruno took Mirabel after asking them, both Julieta and Agustin had lesser reactions to expectations which Dolores picked up on bc they knew their daughter was safe.
With the dry gaps between the walls and weak magical foundation casita has, good placement of a load of Molotovs could set Casita ablaze but Dolores didn't want to play the risks to her home or family.
She left to protect the family and herself is what it boils down to, and I'm sure in the underground, she and the growing residents can come up with some solution for the problems the surface has.... eventually.

I have a few questions regarding your pirate au (cool idea btw):
What is Alma’s relationship with the rest of the family like? (since she’s also separated from them)
literally how does Pepa justify leaving Mirabel on shore and then taking her GIFTLESS Baby with her on a dangerous pirate ship? The rest of the crew doesn’t have any gifts either so, why?
How exactly did Pedro die?
Thank you! These are all great questions btw, really getting into some of the more juicy dynamics of this au.
What is Alma’s relationship with the rest of the family like? (since she’s also separated from them)
Long distance, but amicable. When the ship docks, Bruno and Julieta do make time to go see their ma. They're not as close as they could be, but they're still family. Félix doesn't have much of a relationship with her because he doesn't go ashore, and he's too close to Pepa for it to be safe to get to know her without it biting him in the backside. On the appearance of things, the warm colours kids are more distant from her than the cool colours because of the Pepa:Abuela rift. Isabela is a bit cold towards abuela too, in an almost subconcious effort to endear herself to Pepa more. None of that stops abuela from showering all of them with affection when she can. They are her family after all. Pepa and abuela do talk sometimes, although when they do, it's clear that it's Pepa holding a lot more of the grudge than abuela, and she makes a point of calling her Alma. Pepa keeps their interactions to a minimum, or focused on practical matters with Alma as a leader of the village. So you do sometimes get full family gatherings (they come together at the gift ceremonies for example, and important birthdays) but the whole family tend to be a little more closed off around abuela if Pepa is also around- she is their Captain after all.
(other q's below the cut)
literally how does Pepa justify leaving Mirabel on shore and then taking her GIFTLESS Baby with her on a dangerous pirate ship? The rest of the crew doesn’t have any gifts either so, why?
Because Pepa sees it as being pre-gift. Very young children need to be with their parents, and as all the Madrigals are on the ship, that's where the children are. Pepa also believes that growing up on the ship is an important part of preparing them for this life- almost like their training starts that early on. It is hard work looking after the kids, but getting a gift always gave them an automatic level of protection at the point they were getting more independent, and as they learned to use their gift, they were able to help protect the ship.
The system worked, until Mirabel. When she didn't get a gift it was quite a shock.
As for the rest of the crew not having gifts, well, Mirabel doesn't get that either. But she is still a child, and the rest of the crew are well trained adults, who know what they're getting themselves into.
How exactly did Pedro die?
SNIPPET TIME! From the first chapter of Wind in my sails (main au fic- currently wip):
'All around them the village bustled with the sound of the preparations, smells of food and fires filling the sky. Lights dotted around all the houses, trailing a twinkling glow down to the edge of the sea. The two of them looked up to the flag high above them, glowing and sparking with magic.
"Do you know how we got our gifts?" Pepa asked. Mirabel shook her head, wide-eyed.
Pepa adjusted her on her lap. "Long ago your Abuela and Abuelo lived a simple life in a remote fisherman's port, far from the troubles of the world. Then one night the troubles found them. Their village was attacked by raiders. Left with nowhere else to go, they and the other villagers charged their attackers ship and stole it to make their escape. Your abuelo Pedro fought bravely to hold the raiders back, but he fell before they could get the ship away, and they thought all was lost."
"But in that moment we were granted a miracle: the magic bloomed, and your abuela and all those who had followed her were transported to safety on the ship, far, far into the sea and away from the dangers that had overtaken their home. And the magic grew. All around them the ship came alive, a bright new magical standard flying overhead,"
"Our Casita!"
"Yes! The miracle helped hide and protect them, Casita keeping them safe. In time, it became their home." '
More detail: When their village was attacked, Pedro lead Alma, along with the newborn triplets and a number of other villagers, down to the docks where they fought their way through a few of the raiders to get onto their ship. As they prepared to sail away, the rest of the raiders came to the dock and tried to re-take the ship. (They also grappled the ship to stop them leaving). Pedro and the others tried to hold them off. He got fatally injured and fell (much like his canon counterpart), but managed to pull the raider that killed him off the ship with him, leaving just the villagers behind. Stuck unable to leave, and left open to the rest of the raiders coming up the gangplank (and also knowing full well she'd just lost the love of her life and the father to her three new babes which she could very well be just about to lose as well), Alma fell to her knees in her grief and desperation, and the magic blossomed.

Doors (Chapter 8) Despiertas
It's fun when you think you know what you thought you saw…but realize later - not so much
Despiertas
“First things first,” Bruno said as he turned his attention to the rats lining the furniture. “You lot need to keep this to yourselves. No telling, Antonio, ¿está claro? And if you do not think you can, out.” Bruno waved his hand as he pointed at the small holes he noted in the walls. Several of the rats took off, disappearing through the niches until only three remained. He stared at them until they squeaked in defiance, so he turned his attention to the gramophone on the table near the door, wound the apparatus up and let the music play. He swung the speaker in the direction of the wall. “Casita, can you please keep that playing for me for a bit?” Bruno said and sat down on the ottoman.
“Here’s the gist of it; There are a number of people coming. Maybe fifteen? Not from the path through the crack in the mountains near the river, but from the mountains behind Casita. They are a ragged looking group of mostly women and children. It seemed like they were trying to get away from something, but I have no idea what that might be. Might be the unrest we heard about from the recent newcomers. They also can’t be far off, since I do not think my Gift can reach any distance beyond the Encanto. Kinda freaked me out, and I will be honest, at first, I thought something bad was going to happen to the Encanto again, I say at first, because I thought one of the women was our mother.”
There was a collective gasp and Juli asked, “Are you sure?”
Bruno held up a hand and continued, “Yes, they are being led, and I kid you not, by an older woman that looks almost identical to Mamá, but it’s not her.”
“Then who is she?” Pepa asked.
“I do not know,” Bruno hesitated, this was the part he was worried about. There was no way he would be able to tell them the rest without telling them that. He took a deep breath wishing he had some salt but continued and said as he shifted on the ottoman, “She must be related to Mamá, somehow. Sister or cousin, maybe?”
Dead silence. Bruno sighed, and Félix asked, “Why do you say that?
No more secrets, he told himself and said, “I know I’ve always said that I did not know what the cause was for my spontaneous visions. That’s not completely true.”
“Bruno, if you know what sets them off, why didn't you tell us? We’ve always wanted to help you with that.” Pepa sounded a bit miffed and a small thunderhead formed.
“Let him finish, Pepa.” Juli said, she sounded tense.
Oh, she knows, Bruno thought. The muscles in his neck and back were starting to tense, and he was unconsciously folding and unfolding his hands as he looked at the four of them and weighing his answer. “The main cause has always been Mamá.” The rats all squeaked in unison, and Bruno waggled a finger at them. “You lot best stop, or you’re going to have to leave.”
“And?” Juli asked, she was not looking at him anymore, but he could see she had a death grip on Agustín’s hand in her lap.
“And sometimes…other people…closely related…to me,” he stumbled through it and was met by more silence until Pepa deadpanned, “You mean us,” and pointed at herself then Julieta.
Bruno shrunk back, gave the barest of nods, and flinched at his sister’s reactions. This was why he never mentioned it before, he did not want to hurt them, never that. Pepa immediately started raining, and Julieta just looked so sad. She was probably remembering their earlier conversation, but Bruno knew she was right about all of it.
No more secrets.
“That’s not what’s actually important right now,” Bruno said, trying to smile his way through his anxiety. Low thunder sounded and Bruno added, “I promise to explain it better, once I have a better way of explaining it.”
Pepa crossed her arms and said, “You’d better, Bruno,” but the cloud disappeared as Félix patted her arm. “So, you’re thinking this woman is related to Mamá?” Pepa asked, leaning in.
Bruno relaxed a little and went on, “I do not think the vision would have focused on her otherwise. I mean, when you think about it, Mamá never talks to us about her family other than her time with Papá. And we certainly never asked any questions.”
They fell silent for a time as the player reset itself. Once the music began playing again, Agustín asked, “So shouldn’t Alma be here?”
Julieta nodded but sighed, “She looked so tired earlier.”
“Did she eat any of your ‘cookies’ Juli?” Pepa asked.
Julieta shrugged, but looked a little embarrassed by the question. “Either way,” she said, “what can Mamá do about it?”
Bruno wondered how long it would take for his mother to appear. There was no doubt in his mind that she would. He looked up at the ceiling and saw there were branches running along the corners of the room. He had not noticed that before. Casita really had done a full reset of his room. He remembered with a touch of regret that they were one of the first things to fade as his mother’s opinion of him started to change.
What did Mirabel see in him that his own mother had not? It made him wonder how or even if that would affect his Gift. The fact that he did not feel the least bit nervous about having another ‘sponty’ as he referred to those visions was foreign to him. He watched Pepa fuss with the cuff of her robe, in the past they would all have been drenched by now. She and Juli were talking like he had not just announced they were potentially the bane of his existence, and that made him realize that he was not sad. Content maybe? Bruno smiled when Pepa said, “She needs something to do besides killing her grandkids with kindness, anyway.”
“But we do not want to worry her unnecessarily,” Julieta said.
“Bruno wouldn’t be having this type of vision if it wasn’t something we needed to know now.” Pepa said flatly.
“Tell us everything you remember Bruno, maybe there was something you missed,” Félix said.
“Yes, see if you can focus on the one you say looks like Alma,” Agustín offered.
They all seemed to be waiting for him to do something, so he picked a knothole in the branch above his and stared at it. The recording finished and Bruno tried to focus on what he had seen earlier. Lots of trees, mist, people…one turned and seemed to look directly at him, and everything went green…

“What do you think?” Dolores asked Isabela as they entered her room. Issa’s face broke into a wide smile as she took it all in. She was weirdly fixated on the small flowers near her bed. She looked back at her as if to ask, ‘Can I?’ Dolores nodded, and she watched as Issa went over and touched one and then another. This went on for several minutes until she nodded to herself as if she had figured something out and said, “Mind if I try a little experiment?”
Curious, Dolores nodded. Isabela came next to her and took her hand and guided her near the largest cluster. She knelt and indicated Dolores should do the same. “Okay, close your eyes, I want this to be a surprise.”
Dolores did, and Issa placed one of her hands in the flowers and held the other. For a moment, Dolores felt the warmth of the magic, which reminded her of the way she felt whenever Mariano smiled at her. There was a gentle rustle and Issa said, “Open your eyes, Doli.”
Dolores let out a squeak of astonishment as she took in what Issa had done. She’s thought her room perfect before, but now…scattered everywhere among the red and yellow were clumps of orange tulips.
“Issa, it’s wonderful. Tulips are Mariano’s favorite, and orange, when did you learn to do this?”
“Just now,” Issa said, there was a note of excited pride in her voice that Dolores was still not used to. So, wonderfully different. “Well, not exactly just now, I’ve been thinking about this for a while. I was going to plant some in pots and give them to you later, but since I can do this, I decided why wait?”
“I do not understand, what did you do that was new?”
“I let you pick the flowers. I’m glad you were thinking of Mariano when you did.”
“Was that the tingle…?”
Issa nodded and gathered both of Dolores’ hands as she said, “The truth is, I really needed to find a way to apologize to you and to Mariano for just everything that happened. If I had been braver, if I had told Abuela the truth when she started suggesting I marry him…but I couldn’t. I knew how you felt about him and I just…I just want your future with him to be everything you hope it can be. Seriously, you two make a great couple.”
Dolores hugged Issa hard and said a little tearfully, “I’m sorry too, I’ve missed my prima mayor hermana.” She looked around again at the changes to her room and hugged Issa even harder. She suddenly released Issa and let out a yelp.
(You lot need to keep this to yourselves. No telling, Antonio, ¿está claro? And if you do not think you can, out)
“Doli, what’s wrong?” Issa said, concerned by the look on Dolores’ face.
“Nothing, just lost my train of thought there.”
“Something’s happening. You only get that look when someone says something unexpected.”
Dolores swallowed, “Tío Bruno, is telling the rats to leave his room.”
“Why would he do that?”
Dolores’ expression changed to one of consternation. “He’s going to tell our parents what he saw today, and he doesn’t want anyone listening in, so he’s playing a recording…” Her expression changed to one of smugness. “Well, Tío, I’ve picked up a few tricks in the last ten years.” What most of the family, aside from Abuela, did not know, was that Dolores could quite literally cancel most sounds she was not actively listening for. The recording, aside from being annoying, was a snap. She listened to her Tío, and wished she had not been so curious.
Issa touched her arm and Dolores started, “Doli, what’s happening?” Issa asked, her face a mask of concern.
“People are coming to the Encanto,” Dolores said, still listening.
“People have been coming all year…”
“No, these people are coming from the mountains behind us, and Tío Bruno thinks they may be related to Abuela or at least one of them.” She omitted the part about Bruno’s spontaneous vision triggers, “He says the woman looks just like Abuela.” Dolores realized then was that her Tío’s voice wasn’t nervous sounding at all. The only time she remembered it sounding that way was when he was entertaining himself in the walls with the rats. It made her wonder if he had ever been like that all the time. Or maybe it was because he was with his sisters. She wanted to go ask him and to show him she could hear him even with the recording. She knew it was childish, but Dolores poked her head out the door and gave a little squeak. “Issa, Tío Bruno’s room is back between our parent’s doors.”
“Oh wow…”
_______________________________
Alma woke with a start. She was breathing heavily and was sweating. She sat up and looked around, but nothing was out of place. A dream then? What was she just dreaming about…Juliet? It had been a long time since she thought about her sister. There was a gentle knock on the door, “Come in, Mirabel” Alma said.
Mirabel slipped in and stood by the door and asked, “How did you know it was me? I guess that doesn’t matter. Are you okay, Abuela? I was really feeling…worried about you…I couldn’t go to sleep, and I just had to make sure…I’m sorry, I know it sounds kinda dumb.”
Alma smiled at her granddaughter and said gently, “Do not be sorry for caring, Mirabel. It’s one of your strongest Gifts,” Mira smiled but was rubbing her arms as if a chill had taken her. So, Alma got out of bed and pulled on her robe, “Back to bed, Mirabel,” she said and took her hand, and together they walked into the next room. She guided Mira to her bed, waited until she climbed in and tucked the blankets around her. It was a bit chilly in here, so Alma pulled the shutters all the way closed, and the curtain dragged itself across the opening.
She was not surprised that Mirabel was already asleep, and wondered how many of Juli’s cookies Mirabel ate. For that matter, Camilo definitely wouldn’t have stopped at a few. One or two would make you sleepy. More than that and you’d sleep a good long while. Alma went to the door and noted the small changes. The small tree at the center was slightly larger, and the butterfly at the top looked about ready to take off. The one at the bottom appeared to be moving back. While it was good that Mira was growing rapidly, Alma knew it could not be too swift.
“I understand, Casita.”
Stepping into the hallway, she heard music playing faintly. “Are they all together?” there was a short clatter of tiles nearby and Alma started walking in the direction of her children’s rooms, when she noticed a head poking out of Dolores’ room.
_______________________________
Agustín was off his chair and next to Bruno before he could hit the floor. “Juli! Pepa!” Both women turned and Juli immediately went out the door, Pepa knelt near him and held his head in her hands. “Bruno, can you hear me, hermano? Bruno, can you hear me? Please wake up.” Bruno remained as he was, eyes glowing green, and Pepa saw him mouth was moving slightly and thought maybe he was speaking to someone unseen. The drizzle that had started when she knelt stopped abruptly as she thought, that’s new. Bruno gasped and came back to himself. The glow faded from his eyes, he blinked, and he looked at Pepa, and he had the barest of smiles.
Juli dropped the teacup and spoon upon seeing Bruno awake, making Pepa start and let go of his head. It dropped all the way to the floor with a small thud. “What happened?” Juli asked.
Pepa realized she just dropped her brother’s head and said, “Sorry, hermano,” He really was smiling and Pepa growled and gave his face a gentle shake. “This better not be one of your sorry jokes, Bruno Madrigal. Dios Mios, I think my heart will beat out of my chest,” she said as she took a few deep breaths. When she sat back, Félix was, of course, right where she needed him to be. She let her fear evaporate like the cloud above her head.
Julieta had picked up the pieces of the teacup and the spoon and was no longer in the room. Bruno got off the floor with Agustín’s help and sat slowly, if a bit shakily, into the high-backed red velvet chair. He was looking at the still open door. Pepa turned and saw Issa and Dolores there, looking nervous and confused. Guess the cat’s out of the bag now. Félix helped her up, she waved the girls in and she and Félix returned to their spots on the sofa.
_______________________________
Juli returned and handed him another cup of her tea. She sat at the end of the sofa next to Agustín’s chair, leaving enough room on the sofa for Issa and Dolores, who sat down, both craning their necks to take in his room. Bruno took a sip of the tea and his hands, again, immediately stopped shaking. It tasted better this time too. Bruno took a longer drink of the tea and watched his still open door. The vision he had just had was not about the lady in the forest, it was of this moment. Best get on with it then. He set down the cup, got up and went over to the door. They were all watching him, but Bruno moved forward, knowing full well there was something he needed to do. Something he had been avoiding for a long time.
Standing in the doorway, he put a hand on the door frame and tapped it five times with his fingertip. She was out there, just beyond the light of his room. She seemed hesitant to move forward, waiting for something. Bruno realized what that something was, and it was something only he could give her. But he needed something first, was it still there? He found it more easily than he would have thought possible. Right where he left it all those years ago… still there, not lost. That place in his heart that held all the love he ever had for her. At that moment, the wall he had created to protect himself from her started to crack. For there can be no forgiveness without love. He believed it now, she was not who she was before the breaking, and neither was he. Time for something different.
“Please come in Mamá,” Bruno said gently, holding out his hand.
She stepped forward hesitantly and took it and asked, “Are you alright, Bruno?”
“Yes, thank you,” he said.
She stepped in and looked for all the world like she was about to cry at the site of his ‘new’ room. She was one of the few that had ever seen it like this. Bruno guided her to the chair he had just got up from, and she looked at all the assembled faces, and she said to him, “I’m sure you know why I’m here, Bruno. What do you think we should do?”
That was not what he was expecting her to say. He reminded himself again, she’s not who she was and said, “Well, I can tell you, or I can show you. It’s up to you, Mamá.”
Alma did not hesitate, “Show me.”

I’m surprised at the toxic au, judging on the way you don’t like some of the emcanto tropes the toxic au seem out of left field for you? I mean I like the idea but it’s a bit jarring coming from you. Oh in toxic au maybe Isabela and Luisa could be Julieta younger twins? And be Antonio’s age?
I mean, it wasn't an actual fic idea at any point. We didn't want to write it. I just saw a post where someone was talking about what if Julieta and Bruno were overused by Alma, so that Julieta and Agustin NEVER married and all the kids were Pepa and Felix's and modified it kinda.
And as it always is with us, I dropped the idea, Dabby caught on to it and we just got with the flow. We never intended to write it, we just threw ideas at each other and somehow managed to shape it into something that has the potential of being written.
But well, I don't like toxic AUs, and it was just an idea that stuck in my head and needed to be talked about. We thought about it for like 2 days and then never again. That's how many of our AUs are - short-lived and rather to just get the ideas out.
And I'm not sure what you mean by "seems out of the left field for me"? I mean... I said I don't like making Julieta/Agustin and Pepa/Felix bad parents, I haven't said anything about making Alma a bad one... And it's a very crooked, specific AU. Where Alma is even more obsessed with the Miracle and gifts, and Pedro's death left her in even worse condition than in canon.
About Isabela and Luisa - maybe they could be reversed... Mirabel being the oldest, them being younger, but the thing is, in this AU Julieta wouldn't get a chance for a healthy pregnancy staying in Casita, she'd have to leave, because the environment is, well... Bad. Really bad.

Wolfwalkers au: Antonio Madrigal
Tumblr media
Wolfwalkers au
Antonio was the last born of the madrigal family. Having said that, Antonio thought he was the only child in the Madrigal home. Any trace of the other residents was either taken or thrown out. After the other family "disappeared" his parents and Alma made sure to keep a close eye on him.
Antonio loved them dearly but they smother him a lot and wherever he goes they go. Encanto is supposed to be the safest place on earth right? wrong, children have been reported missing and it must have been "the forest people" who took them.
This made the three elders even more anxious when it came to Antonio. The times when he could get time to himself were completely obliterated. The only time he ever got to himself was when he was in the bathroom. And he sometimes had to confirm he was there.
He is completely closed off and sheltered. He has barely any friends,(if you count a rat), doesn't get time to himself, and can never do anything fun.
When he got his gift at the ceremony Alma, Pepa & Felix were completely horrified. Alma quickly shut the ceremony down and told Antonio to get rid of all the Predatory animals then she changed it to all of them had to leave. The only thing he was allowed to keep was his room. Casita insisted on it and threatened alma that it would lock him in there if she didn't let him keep it.
A few months pass and Antonio was allowed to use some of his gifts. He was allowed to talk to small animals and birds. no snakes of any kind regardless if they were poison or not.
Tonito wasn't happy. He knew his family loved him and wanted to protect him. But from what? he always asked himself. There were times Antonio would sneak out and talk to animals of all kinds. But Alma, Pepa, And/or Felix would catch him so he just stopped trying.
During one of these visits, he heard some kids talking about the "forest people". He was very curious about the conversation. When he heard one of them say "they take you and you never come back" some part of him didn't believe it.
For the rest of the month, he couldn't stop thinking about them. Do they actually hurt people? what do they look like? are they the ones howling at night? are they mean? maybe there's some sort of misunderstanding? These questions echoed through his mind constantly
when he tried to in the jungle to see them one of the elders or villagers always caught him and took him back to Casita.
Pepa was already on the verge of literally strapping him to her or chaining him up to his bed and him running away to the forest was making it more of an option.
But he wouldn't have to worry about it after he finally gets to meet "the forest people"
-
Hello, I hope you enjoyed this! If so please leave a like and/or comment. Or at least reblog it so others can enjoy it. If you have any questions or ideas/prompts for the au leave them in the ask box and I'll get to it sooner or later.

Are there limits to the Madrigals' gifts?
Like can Julieta make a salad or sandwich and would it heal? Could she make cheese or butter and would it alone just make someone feel better? Could she heal or prevent cancer? Say she dies but there is still food that she has made around, would that still heal or would the magic leave it the moment she dies?
How much can Luisa actually lift? Like she can lift literal churches, could she actually move a mountain or reasonably hold up the village of Encanto? Is there ever a time where something is physically just too heavy for her?
How much can Dolores hear? Is there a radius? Can she hear beyond the mountains of Encanto? Can she hear just surface level things like people talking, foot steps, and items moving or can she hear e v e r y t h i n g? People breathing, the blood moving within their veins, muscles tensing and loosening? Can she walk outside after a rain and hear the water settling into the earth, worms digging through the soil, the ants marching to their homes, and the magma moving far below the crust?
Can Isabela control the scent and taste or even genetics of her plants with just a flick of her wrist?
Can Camilo only shapeshift into people or could he turn into a bear? Could he turn into people or creatures he hasn't even seen or would he needed to look at them first? He turned into an exaggerated version of Bruno in wdtab but technically he has seen him before, both in real life and in paintings and pictures like the mural in the village.
How far can Bruno see into the future? Has he been able to see technology evolve, wars and natural disasters centuries before they happen? Could lil 10 year old Bruno have gotten too curious and accidentally seen the end of the world and time itself in a vision?
Can Antonio talk to bugs too? Or maybe bacteria or other living organisms. Does it mean he just automatically tames every animal or would some animals still try and attack him like it would any other person?

Please don't be inlove with someone else [Bruno x f!reader]
Summary: Bruno was enchanted to meet [name]— and [name] was enchanted to meet bruno
Warning: cringe. swear??? Words. Kinda angsty?? long story.
Note: if someone already did this, please do know that I didn't steal your idea, I have this idea late at night while vibing at the song
Tumblr media Tumblr media
16 year-old Bruno had his shoulders slumped for the rest of the day, after getting yelled at for giving them a terrible "prophecy" when he was just pointing out that the fruit is already rotting.
He was just trying to help, but he disappoints everyone. His sisters tried to make him smiled or laugh by telling him jokes, mocking the villagers. The boy wasn't really in a mood, but he wants his sisters to be happy, so he faked it.
He faked being okay, he faked smiling, he forced himself to laugh. He just needs to, for them.
There I was again tonight. Forcing laughter, faking smiles. Same old tired, lonely place. Walls of insincerity, shifting eyes and vacancy.
Bruno's day continued like that, until he was told to answer the door, since it would be rude if no one greeted the visitor. That was when he first saw her, [name] [last name].
His sisters would always talk about her, how much of a good friend she is, very kind, welcoming, selfless.
This was the first time he actually met her, she wears a plain dress, plain sandals, while carrying a basket pull of things, to what he guesses is for his sister Julietta, nothing extraordinary. But to Bruno, she was enduring to looked at.
Vanished when I saw your face. All I can say is, it was enchanting to meet you
She tilted her head to the side, silently questioning who's in front of her. Which he picked up clearly, and starts to introduce himself.
"Uh, I'm Bruno, Julietta’s and Pepa’s brother..” he muttered quietly, but she heard them loud and clear. walking through the door once he opened it wide enough.
“oh! so you’re Bruno!” she exclaimed, "Sorry, I didn't notice—it's just the people in town described you as a scary man, who had bad luck always on his shoulders,"
"Yea," the boy awkwardly laughed it off, and continued to lead her to the kitchen where his sister is. Not gonna lie, he was a little offended on what she told him, but it's nothing new.
"I didn't expect you to be," the [eye. color]-eyed paused, thinking of a word to describe him, "adorable."
Your eyes whispered, "Have we met?". 'Cross the room your silhouette. Starts to make its way to me.
Bruno was sure his ears are broken, there's no way he was just called adorable, that's impossible. He felt his heart running laps, face heating up. He's never gotten a compliment outside of the family before.
The green-eyed can't help but hide his face, from pure embarrassment, making him hide himself deeper when he heard her laugh.
"Did I make you uncomfortable? Sorry, but I can't help it, you look really cute!"
Another compliment was thrown in his way, making him malfunction once again.
"I'm not cute.."
"You can't lie to yourself forever, señor."
Once they made it into the kitchen, Bruno was quick to leave the room, shuffling his way to his room, not wanting to attract any attention.
His sisters, however, still notice how he is swift to leave. Rising a brow to his actions, she turn to the visitor, already assuming what she did something to make her brother run like that.
"What did you do?"
"Nothing! I just said he's adorable, which is true, you can't deny that!"
The playful conversation starts. Counter all your quick remarks. Like passing notes in secrecy
Bruno was attached to [name] after few months, the girl didn't know if it's because she pick a fight with anyone who's insulting him so he can stop it, or that she's close with their family.
She didn't know that it's because, she's the only person outside the family be close to him. The future-teller feels some sort of comfort from her, he feels safe.
Her presence is warm, welcoming, accepting. Have a bad day? She's there, needs a shoulder to cry on? She's there, need another hand? She's there.
She never accused him for bad vision, she's just saying it's just the way things are. The boy found himself carving her attention every now and then. He would unconsciously followed her around town, he looked like a lost puppy.
"Bruno?" The [hair. color] called, the said boy hum in acknowledge, looking from his feet. "Do you need anything? You've been following me all day."
"Oh, I have? Sorry, I'm sorry about that— I'll uh get going.."
"No, no, no! Stay, I like your company! I just hope you're not 3 feet behind me." She chuckled.
The two sisters watch their little brother catch up, and engaged into a conversation with [name], you can see his bright smile from the other side of Encanto.
"He looks happy these days, genuinely happy."
"I agree, he smiles a lot too."
~~
"¿Que? Mi mamà and papà would never separate! How dare you! What's your problem?!"
Bruno was kicked on his chest, forcing the air out of his lungs, his head and eyes ache from his gift, now his body is burning with agony.
As the guy, three years older than him continued to yell, saying mean things, kicking him at his back, chest, face, everywhere.
No one tried to help him, they just whisper with each other, some of them just stared and the others ignored it.
As if they're quietly saying he deserves it.
"¡Por favor! I didn't know why its- its like that!" He curled into a ball, trying to avoid the hits and kicks he's receiving. "¡Lo siento! Please spare me!" The madrigal cried.
Pepa...julieta... anyone, help me...
No one cared. His sisters nor mother's not here, no one will help the curse of encanto.
No one.
"Aye, aYE, AYE! WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?? WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH YOU??!"
So, someone did care.
The guy was pushed back brutally, 'causing him fell on his back. A figure stood infront of a trembling bruno, protecting him.
"Why did you push me??!"
"Why are you hitting him?!"
"He deserves to be hit! He wants my family to fall apart!"
"No he doesn't! STOP ASSUMING THINGS YOU WILL NEVER UNDERSTAND!!"
Bruno got in between them, trying to pull his friend away. The shoutings were heard making a small crowd form around them. He needs to stop this, he doesn't want her to get hurt because of him.
"[name], let's go he's not worth it..." he mumbled, tugging her arms, wanting to be away from there as quick as possible.
Unfortunately for him, the guy heard him. His face turned red in anger, the audacity he have to give him a bad vison and say he's not worth it, is making him want to beat up the guy.
"You little—" he swang his fist directly at the madrigal, but it collided with something else, more like someome else.
[Name]'s cheek burn, her head became dizzy from the hit. The green-eyed stood from his spot in horror, he have never seen someone punch in his life. It's alway him, being the victim not the others. After snapping back to reality he's practically panicking, is she alright? That was a big hit, her bones might crack. He needs to get her to Julieta.
Even though she's in a lot pain, the girl mocks the guy saying that it wasn't manly for him to hit a girl, let alone a few years younger than him.
She caught him off guard by kicking him in his private part, causong him to kneel down, holding it in pain. The crowd, including bruno wince at the action, knowing well that it must have hurt a lot.
Once he was down, she kicked him in his nose making him lay down on the ground, and her going on top of him, punching him hard.
"What?! Not so tough now, huh??! This is for bruno! This is also for bruno! This one is for insulting him, kicking him, punching him—" her insults continued.
The future-teller tried his best to pull his friend off. Some villagers also tried to pull her off, but failed. Many called out, but she ignored it. The guys is sobbing, in pain and humiliation from being beaten up by a girl. He screamed apologies at her but she opposed him saying he should be sorry to bruno.
A thunder was heard followed by a rain above her, causing [name] to snapped out.
Turning around, she saw Bruno hugged safely by julieta, and Pepa approaching her, a cloud stalking her.
~
"Look at your fist!! It's all bloody!"
"It's not my blood so who cares?"
"You still got hurt badly! You have to stop picking a fight!"
"He was gonna hit bruno! I need to stop him, or he will do it again!"
The ginger and [hair.color] argued, as julieta hurried to finish her cooking. [Name] held the ice on top of bruno's head, considering that he was hit numerous times.
Despite her popped eye brow, bruised cheek, and bloody fist, she was perfectly fine, it hurts but she can handle it. The girl is more worried about her friend.
"Are you feeling alright now? Julieta is almost done." [Name] assured, once Pepa left to talk to her sister.
"You didn't have to do that..."
"Do what?" He frown at her words, but she just laugh.
"Don't laugh, you got hurt because of me.. I can't forgive myself-"
"Hey," she called out, being gentle with his face as she move his head to face her. He can't look at her, knowing that he's the reason she got hurt. "Bub, it's not your faul‐"
"How come it's not my fault?! You took the hit! I'm suppose to have that bruise, not you! You can't keep picking fights-"
"Bruno, he was a pervert. I beat him up 'cause he deserves it, and I never have a proper excuse to hit him like that. I took the hit because I wanted to, okay? Stop blaming yourself."
The said boy continued to look down, but soon look up when he felt her lips pressing on his forehead, his face warming up. "I'm glad that you're alright now."
And it was enchanting to meet you. All I can say is, I was enchanted to meet you
At the age of 18, the future-teller can't deny his feeling anymore.
He wants to confess, he wants to be with her. Be hers, and [name] his. He's feeling selfish, but he can't help it. Not when he heard his sisters talking about [name] liking someone.
He can't risk confessing and ruining their 2-years of friendship. But why would she flirt with him then? Keep saying he's a handsome young man? Cute, adorable, hard-working, kind, etc. She's literally confusing!
He promised himself to never look into her future without consent, he wants her to be as comfortable as possible.
The green-eyed often zone-out almost everyday, and everytime. He would always get scolded of because of it. How can he not? When she's literally there, showering him with affection, no idea how much affect she has in him.
"Aye, 'migo! What are you thinking so hard about?" The [hair. color] smirks, making his cheeks heat up a bit, and his heart aches from being called a friend.
Amigo huh? I'm just a friend to her...
"It's nothing, I was just um, thinking about what chores should I finish next."
The girl could feel his gloomy personality and tried to cheer him up. "Aww, is little Bruno having problems again?" She playfully nudged him, beaming when he finally cracked a small smile.
"I'm fine [name], you're swooning over me again, am I really that charming?" He teased, tiny nervousness still present.
"Woah! Where did you get that? I didn't know you can be flirty, Hermoso."
Hermoso, okay now he's back to himself, all the confidence earlier banished, back to his stuttering self. "I- I kinda overheard um, Felix! Talking to uh, Agustin about these things," he stammers, avoiding eye contact. "I thought I could use it against you—since you always teased me.."
The girl laughs, leaning on her friend. "How about I take you out for tonight?"
Bruno's ears peaked up, red dusting his cheeks, "take me o-out? With you..?"
"Yea! Let's sneak out tonight, I wanna show you something cool, meet me by the bridge at midnight, okay? Okay, bye!"
"I, uh, yea bye!"
~~
Calm yourself, Bruno! It's not a date, she's just going to show you something. Nothing special, nothing new.
The young man paced back and forth, fidgeting the ends of his new green ruana, a gift he got from Julietta. It's rather big, but he still wore it since it's cold, perfect for a cold night like this.
His pet rat: Manuel, watched him through his big black eyes as he starts to ramble to himself. "It's not a date, right? But the way she said it.. take me out? To a hangout or a... I need to stop jumping to conclusions-"
Bruno stops his ramblings when he was interrupted with a squeak from Manuel, strolling near his pet, he inquired. "why? What's wrong? Are you hungry? You can go back to la casita if you want, I'm sure there are still leftovers over the counter."
"Aww, I didn't know you'll be bringing Manuel with you, I would've brought a snack with me."
The madrigal jump from his place, black curls bounce once he does so, as if it's instinct he places a protective hand to his rat friend, and bringing up with a fist to the person like he's... giving a fist bump?
"Woah, Woah! Relax bub, it's just me." [Name] rise her hands, surrendering from his not-so-threatening fist with a smile. The lantern swung as she moves her hand.
The boy let out a heavy sigh, relieved that it's not a stranger, "you scared me, at least warned me of you're here, and don't just appear next to me!"
"Sorry, sorry, my bad!" She giggled, "come on, follow me!" The [hair. color] run into the trees, making Bruno worried, and followed her quickly after he shoved Manuel into his ruana.
"[Name]! Wait! Slow down!"
"Hurry Bruno!"
The duo arrived into a field, the grass is just below their waist, the girl turned off the light of the lantern, making the madrigal panicked, moon is there only light now.
His anxiety is rising with every second of it, what if a big snake a just behind that bush, ready to devour them? What if a wolf just came in running full speed and ate them? What if—
"Bruno."
Her [eye. color] shines under the moon as she stares at him with a comforting look, "it's safe, I've checked it many times." Gently taking hold of his hands, she guides him in front of the field. "You can run, right?"
"R-run? What are we running from? Is there someone else here?—"
"Bruno, can. you. run?"
"..yes."
"Good," she pulled him with her, as she run backward. The moment she stepped into the field, hundreds of fireflies merged from their hiding places, flying around them. Bruno stared at them in awe, mesmerize by the bugs surrounding them.
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go.
Her path lights up into greenish-yellow lights, as more fireflies wake up from their slumber, she runs with him, laughing and smiling. He soon joins with her, spreading his arms to wake more glowing bugs to light up their surroundings.
They let go of each other's hands and started to run in different directions, shouting and cheering as they do. They would draw patterns on the grass, jumping over each other's shoulders (Bruno face-planted when he tried, making them stop doing it) and now, they were lying on the grass, gazing at the starry night sky, clearly out of breath.
"So," she panted, "It's cool isn't it?"
"Cool? It's more than cool! It was awesome!"
The two talks to what felt like hours, but when the green-eyed saw her eyes flattering shut, he knew she needed to rest.
"Let's get you home now, it is pretty late."
"What? Why?? We're having so much fun!!"
"Come on now señorita, we don't want your parents to be worried about you."
After he dropped [name] off her house, he can't help but think all the moments they shared when they were on the field, he felt his face heating up from their conversation, and her attempts on cheering him up.
She didn't know how much she affects him.
I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home. I'll spend forever wondering if you knew. I was enchanted to meet you
He lay awake that night, still thinking about earlier, about her. Their conversation, about why she took him there.
-
"You like someone, don't you?" Her question caught him off guard, not expecting a bold inquiry.
"What- what makes you say that?"
"You zone out a lot, and when I tease you saying, 'you're deep in thought, is it a girl??' You'll blush and push me away saying it's nothing." Turning her body, facing him. "We both know it's not nothing. So, who do you love?"
-
Love, Do I love her?
He can't stop his train of thoughts, does he? Or it's just a little crush? Admiration.
The lingering question kept me up 2 AM, who do you love?
The future-teller heard a squeak next to him, seeing his little companions asking for food. "Oh, I forgot about you guys! I'm sorry, I'll get you food downstairs now, let's go, let's go!"
He nimble on the leftover arepas, giving little crumbs to his companions while he glace at the front door for the nth time tonight.
Bruno paced in the kitchen, thinking that it's the best way to calm his racing mind.
Why is he even awake? That's right, his rats want food, but that was after he can't sleep. He was thinking about her, [name].
The boy sighs, glancing at the door once again.
Why is he waiting for her? It's almost morning, well technically it is morning. She's probably asleep.
I... need sleep.
I wonder 'til I'm wide awake and now I'm pacing back and forth. Wishing you were at my door. I'd open up and you would say, "Hey"
A certain [hair. color] stayed awake on her bed, her thoughts trailing back to the moments she shared with Bruno.
The way his face glistened as the fireflies pass them, his soft voice echoed in her head. His beautiful emerald eyes stared back at her, as he smiles, thanking her for bringing him into the field.
She should be thanking him, she's been the happiest since she met him. She can't deny the jealousy when her friend confirmed that his thoughts are about a girl. But seeing him happily talk about how he admires this mysterious girl, she knows that she's gonna need to let him go, if he's happy, then she's happy.
The girl can't help but finally admit that she really did fall for Bruno madrigal.
It was enchanting to meet you. All I know is, I was enchanted to meet you
Days passed and the boy became an insomniac, his attempts to sleep failed. As he keeps tossing and turning, his thoughts always brought back to their moment at the field.
As firefly floats around her, he could see the reflections of the light from the insects. For the very first time, he understand the difference from pretty and beautiful.
Wait.. I love her...?
"I love her! Manuel!" He called out, picking up his rat friend, "I figure it out, I love her!! I love [name]!"
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go. I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home. I'll spend forever wondering if you knew...
After a week, The girl still remembered how a firefly land on top of his nose while they lay down, his chest rising and falling as he let out an airy chuckle. Manuel came out from his hiding and chase a few fireflies, running and jumping with his little feet, the duo giggled at his attempts.
This night is flawless, don't you let it go.
"Good night, [name]."
"Good night, Bruno!"
As [name] held her night-gown in front of her, ready to put it on and sleep. She held it close, spinning around, waltzing herself to the bathroom. Daydreaming about her beloved Bruno.
I'm wonderstruck, dancing around all alone. I'll spend forever wondering if you knew. I was enchanted to meet you
A few months had passed, [name] ended up confessing first due to Bruno being a little scaredy cat and is not afraid to take his feelings with him to his grave. They live life to the fullest, they love each other, and nothing can get in between them.
The madrigal sisters are happy considering that their best friend will be their soon-to-be sister-in-law. Not that they will admit it out loud but, they're already planning a wedding.
Felix and Agustin congratulated him, for finally having the guts to confess. (Bruno lied about him being the one to confess 'cause he thinks they will make fun of him. Which is something he should not be worried about, 'cause Pepa already told Felix, and Felix told Agustin, but they played along since they don't want Bruno to embarrass himself)
They're been together since, through the ups and downs. They fall harder for each other, each day.
Days turned into months and months turned into years, until the madrigal proposed to her. Finally making up his mind that he wants to spend his life with [name]. This was just the beginning, the beginning of their new life together.
This is me praying that. This was the very first page, not where the storyline ends
After 6 years of being in a relationship, they are finally being wed. Living happily with their three kids.
"Amor?" He mutters, drawing shapes at her back as they lie down on his bed, receiving a hum from his wife. "Thank you for confessing that day, otherwise we will still be friends right now.."
He felt her vibrate as she let out a laugh, "I knew you won't tell a soul when you like someone, so I took the step forward."
"Wait, are you saying.. you knew I've liked you for so long but you didn't say anything?"
"Remember the day I took you out to the field?"
"Yea, it was one of the best days of my life. Besides meeting you and our wedding, and maybe when our children were born‐"
"Bub, you're changing the topic again!" [Name] boop his adorable big nose, getting his attention quickly, making him giggle at her gesture.
"Oh, right sorry sorry! So that's the day you knew I like you?"
"I can't lie to you, at first I was jealous 'cause you talk so lovely about her, but when you say she was your best friend for the longest time, I was confused. Aren't I, your only best friend for the last 2 years, or you've been keeping secrets from me? But I was like 'no, Bruno won't lie to me!' And then I kept—" the [hair. color] continues to ramble, her facial expressions make him laugh, not because she looks funny, but it's because she is adorable.
My thoughts will echo your name until I see you again
Bruno is troubled, it's like he wasn't his usual self, he acts normal in front of everyone including his wife, but she knows something is troubling him.
His knocking on the wood is becoming a little aggressive than became, he crosses his fingers with every chance he gets.
He throws salt and sugar constantly, making [name] worry. Yes, it's normal for everyone for Bruno to do these things but, not every day, not every minute. He only did this once a week, so why is he doing all of this all of the sudden?
"Coràzon, talk to me... what's wrong?" She kneeled down from the bed to see his face since he's looking down on his lap, his distracted face is showing.
"It's nothing, I was just-"
"It's not nothing," she paused, grabbing his chin making him glace at her. "Hey, look at me. You know you can talk to me about everything, right? Come on now, take your time."
He shifted his eyes from the floor to her [eye. color] ones, "I've b-been having these nightmares, and I'm afraid of them coming true, 'cause I-I don't know if they're a vision or just a nightmare.." he cries, putting a hand of his eyes wanting to stop the tears, his wife put a comforting hand on his back, soothing him. "It hurts my head, It hurts my eyes, it hurts everyone. I hate this power. I don't know why they even call this thing a gift!" Standing up, she gave him an embrace, his head against her stomach. He buried his face in it, embarrassed that he just cried.
"It's okay, let it out amor... I'm here for you okay? They're just nightmares, do you want warm milk before we go to bed? Mateo likes it when I male some for him, 'cause it helps him sleep." He nodded quietly, snuggling farther. "If you have any more problems bothering you—you can always count on me, we'll solve it together. You don't have to get through this alone, okay? Promise me, Mi Vida."
"I promise."
His promise didn't last long as he peaked into Mirabel's future, seeing the disaster that was happening.
The house breaking, the magic in danger, with his niece in front of it. He knew what he had to do.
He approach his lovely wife, who had been dancing happily with their kids, his youngest was excited for Mirabel considering that he, Camilo, and Mirabel had the same age, Mirabel being the last one to get hers.
He didn't want to ruin the fun, so he continued his day as nothing happened. He kisses their foreheads like usual and plays with them.
These are the words I held back, as I was leaving too soon. I was enchanted to meet you
[Name] felt like his kiss is unusual, it's like he's saying goodbye, or that she will disappear any moment. The woman shrugged it off, thinking that maybe he just missed her.
It was almost Mirabel's ceremony, his mother kept giving him a side-eye, sending shivers down his spine.
He knew he had to leave, right now, at this very moment.
The future-teller told them that he's not feeling well and he wanted to take a nap before attending the ceremony.
His kids hugged him, saying "feeling better soon, papà!", "Please don't miss Mira's ceremony, she will be sad!", "I can make you feel better, I have tia's arepa with me!"
He kissed all of them in the head, pretending like there's nothing wrong. Nothing is going on.
Pretending that he won't disappear from their lives.
He watch his other kids play with rats, as the oldest: Mateo stayed, "are you still continuing the rat game show after this? I really want to see who will win the big cheese!"
Stop. Stop making him have second thoughts, it's for their own good. People are already avoiding them just from knowing he's the father, thinking his children will be just as bad as him.
"Of course mijo! I'll be back before you know it!"
Stop. Stop lying. Please...
"Okay papà, you better keep your word!" His eldest giggled, running away from them due to being called out for help.
Finally facing his oh so lovely wife, he hugged her. Shoving his face between her neck and shoulder, inhaling her smell, he looks creepy right now but who cares? This will be the last time he will hug her like this.
He wants to change his decision, he thought of every possibility he could so he can stay with his family. But he can't, his creative brain runs out of ideas, which never happened before.
He had no choice, he had to. For the family. For Mirabel. For his children. For [name]
"You're crushing me, Mi Vida." Hearing that, he pulled away from her a little, still holding her by the waist, apologizing.
"Sorry, I just— miss you that's all."
"Are you okay? You've been acting weird all day, is it about the nightmares again? You can tell me anything, coràzon."
No, I can't tell you this one. Lo Siento, amor...
"Well, I just remembered Manuel, that's all. He was such a good rat.."
"So that's what's been bothering you," she paused, holding his face in her palm, kissing his nose. "He's in a better place now, bub. You can sleep now, but be there for Mirabel, she wants all of us to be there when she get her gift."
"I will."
More lies. Stop saying more lies, Bruno.
"But I was like 'no, Bruno won't lie to me' ", I'm sorry, mi Vida. I'm really sorry.
I broke your trust.
Pressing their forehead together, his mind kept repeating the same words,
"Please don't be in love with someone else. Please don't have somebody waiting on you."
"I love you. Y'know that, right?"
"I know, I love you too,"
Their lips collide, sharing their sweet last kiss. Bruno cherishes the moment, he didn't want this to end. He wants to stay, but it's for their own good.
He needs to stay away. He wants the best for his family, no one has to know about the vision.
"Te amo, amor... mi vida."
~
the dark-haired man strolled to his way to his room, not after walking past his mother, who's been eyeing him since he came down.
"Have you looked into the future, bru-"
"not yet, mamà," he interrupted, "I'm gonna do it now, I'll be back after Mirabel's ceremony..."
"But you have to be there, Mirabel wants all of us to be there when she gets her gift."
"I know, but If you need me to look more in the future, I need more time..."
His mother sighed at his excuse, putting her fingers at the bridge of her nose. "Alright, since knowing why the candle keeps flickering is more important. After you have the vision, bring it to me immediately."
"Sì, mamà."
She dismissed him, rushing into his room, he packed his belongings, not much is in there.
His gaze drifted off to his wife's belongings, before deciding to pack it as well. He needs to cut off the bridge connecting his room and the stairs, [name] can't go there as well or she will see the vision once she step inside his cave.
He debated if he should give her a letter, anything. Just a warning that he left. Once he made his decision, he made sure that no one is there to see him leave. Good thing that everyone is busy downstairs, partying, cheering happily. He could see his niece and nephews as well as kids, dancing and playing. He didn't saw mirabel, so he assumed that she's with his mother.
He walk quietly, with a hood over his head, making his unnoticeable by the people. He watched them carefully, trying to see if they will see him moving, even in the corner of their eyes.
Then he saw her.
[Name] Madrigal, his beautiful loving wife. His heart sting as he stared at her, chatting with his sisters, unknown to the events that will happen after this day, it sadden him knowing that this will be the last time he will see her.
Please don't be in love with someone else! Please don't have somebody waiting on you!
It's been 5 years since the last ceremony, and [name]'s husband's disappearance. She moved in her daughter's room: Alondra, after finding out he had cut off the wooden bridge breaking the path into his room and vison cave.
The schedule of cleaning the table after dinner was her family, she could hear her daughter and youngest son played and tease each other while cleaning the floors and wiping the table.
Bruno watch through the cracks of the family tree, smiling to himself seeing how much they have grown.
The [hair.color] as well as her oldest son, washes the dishes. Mateo talked about his day on the town, and flusteredly admitted that he found a certain girl, pretty.
"Awww, my baby is growing up so fast! Already finding having romantic feelings on someone!" She grabbed his face, her hands still covered by bubbles, and kissing his big nose.
"Mamà! Stoooop, you have soap on your hands!" The teen tried to move away but his mother kept her place and kissing his nose to his forehead. "It was just a small crush, nothing serious like my past crushes when I was 12!"
"Oh? I can see how you talk about her, it's clear that you like her romantically!" She exclaim, finally finishing the dishes.
"How would you know, Mamà? Are you a love expert?" Her two children also became interested at their older brother's question, waiting for [name] to answer it.
She instead, pulled out two clear jars consist of 15-20 fireflies, with a bunch of leaves inside. Bruno and his kids watched closely as the [eye.color]-eyed put out the candles that lights up the kitchen, before releasing the fireflies.
The madrigals watched in awe at they floated gracefully around them.
"Do you guys know why I like fireflies so much?" The woman inquired, receiving a no from her children. "Your papà told me he likes me while we were watching these fireflies in a field."
This night is sparkling, don't you let it go! I'm wonderstruck, blushing all the way home!
"He did??! That is so romantic!"
"...it's kinda cringey of you ask me."
"That's... actually a great idea of confessing."
[Name] laughed at their comments, before correcting herself. "He didn't really confess, he dropped so many obvious hints that it's me-"
"So mamì, you're telling us that you assumed that the girl, papì is talking about is you?" Her youngest: Diego asked, pretending to think. All of them laugh, including Bruno once he saw his wife's face.
"Hey! He told me, she was his best friend for 2 years! I was his only girl best friend for two years! It's either me or he's hiding something, and I know my Bruno wouldn't lie about something like that." She proudly admits, a small giggles erupted.
Mateo then frowns, "yea, Papà wouldn't lie..."
" 'teo.."
"I'm sorry, Mamà" he shoots her an apologetic look before continuing. "but, I don't get why would he leave like that? He told me he will be back. He told me he will keep his word..." his eyes traveled to the family tree, "I barely remember his face..."
"Aye mijo, you don't know how much I want to go back.." Bruno mutters, he wants to comfort his son, telling him he was back, and he never really left.
"Why did... Papà leave, Mamà?" The girl asked, looking down. "Does he not love us anymore?"
"Mija, don't say that. Your Papà loves you three so much!" She felt them lean on her, "I don't know why he left, but what I do know, bruno won't leave without a reason."
"What kind of reason that's more important than your family?" Diego mumbled, to his dismay, his mother heard it.
"Diego, come on now. Your father have been through so much," she paused, "My guess is that he saw something in his vision, something big and terrible, and he didn't want that to happen so he left to stop it." Behind the painting, Bruno smiled at her words, he couldn't be more grateful that she's very understanding.
I'll spend forever wondering if you knew
"You're too understanding for your own good, Mamà!"
"I'm just sharing what I assume happen, and my instincts are never wrong!'
"Yea, never wrong, just like the broom‐" her daughter started.
"Oh, the broom! Mamà said it can still sweep, but in reality-" her oldest continued.
"It only had a few strands and barely clean the floor!" The youngest finished, they all shared a laugh.
"Okay, I'm wrong sometimes." She admit, playfully, staring once again at the few fireflies left inside the house, while the others flee to their freedom.
This night is flawless, don't you let it go. I'm wonderstruck, dancing around all alone. I'll spend forever wondering if you knew. I was enchanted to meet you
"It's late! Go to your rooms now, go, go, go!" [Name] shooed them, "don't forget to brush your teeth!"
"We won't!" Her oldest one stayed, while his sibling go to their rooms.
"You still haven't answered how you knew I like her, Mamà."
"Oh yea, I got carried away with the story!" Mateo giggling at her mistake, "It's just, the way your eyes lit up with you talk about her is the same ones your Papà gave me at the field."
~~
The woman sighed in exhaustion once she watch her child leave, before pulling out some leftovers. She beams at her little companions when they appeared near her, reaching out for the food.
"Here you go, eat well. Slow down, Juan! You'll choke, if you shoved it all!"
She watched as the rats run to god knows where, brings few foods that's untouched with the same grin she had ever since they came.
"Aye, Bruno." The [eye.color]-eyed whisper in the air, leaning on the counters, "I missed you— you don't know how hard to handle those kids!" She chuckled, convinced that she's going insane for talking to herself, "Te amo, mi vida."
"yo también te amo, mi amor." The madrigal replied, though he knew that she couldn't hear him. "I'm sorry, really. I'm not there to help you, but thank you for always being there for the kids."
Please don't be in love with someone else. Please don't have somebody waiting on you

What was he like?
platonic Mirabel x male reader
implied Bruno x male reader.

Tumblr media
'Deep breath Mirabel. you've got this.'
Here she was standing outside of a strangers house to bombard them with questions for answers they might not even have. It was nerve-racking.
However, if her Tio Bruno really was like how everyone described him and he kept this photo with him in it he had to mean something. more important he had to KNOW something. for her family she was willing to find out.
so she mustered all her courage together and firmly knocked twice on the wooden door.
silence.
awkwardness.
'Should I just leave…'
"hang on! I'm coming." a voice called from behind the door. Mirabel perked up and fixed her glasses and hair hurriedly. her shoulders straightened out as the door cracked open wide enough for her to see the face behind it. "oh-"
"Hi, im Mirabel M-"
"Madrigal. im...familiar…" he opened the door completely stepping from behind it. He stood straight like he was on edge. He looked a few years younger than her mamá and tia, but definitely old enough to be the boy in the picture. "how can i help you?"
"I'm looking for my Tio. and I found this-" She pulls out the photo from her purse, careful not to cut herself on the green prophecy shards in her purse. "...in his room."
"look...Mirabel was it? I told your mamá Pepa-"
"Tia Pepa." she corrected immediately.
He looked unimpressed. "right. well i told your Tia Pepa ten years ago i didn't know where he had gone. so if that's what this is about." He took a hold of the photo running his thumb along Bruno's nose as he glanced over much younger versions of himself before holding it back out to her. "If that's what this is about, I can't help you."
He stepped back and was getting ready to close the door before Mirabel put her hand out to hold it open.
"Please just... just 5 minutes. I just want to know what he was like. some clue to why he really left. anything. please?"
He took a deep breath and slowly moved again. "Fine, come inside. quickly. I don't want anyone to see you here. I assume this quest of yours is a secret. and people will tell your Abuela they saw you here of all places."
she didn't need to be told twice. Mirabel scurried in and y/n closed the door behind her
"Take a seat," he waved to the table and its chairs that sat in his kitchen. "I'll put on tea."
Mirabel held her breath watching him move around the kitchen with a similar grace as her mamá. oddly, she felt at ease watching him move until he spoke.
"So Mirabel, What do you want to know?"
"everything you know about him."
And so he told her everything about how her uncle was never really malicious, in fact he was very anxious a lot like his sister. He was very nice and always wanted to help. Bruno would bring him small trinkets whenever he was supposed to be doing chores and when his mamá found out she'd scold him for not helping the town. so he would tell her "I'm a part of the town, and i wasn't feeling good today. he's helping me."
The idea of anybody standing up to her Abuela was amusing enough to make her giggle as a cup of tea was set in front of her.
He told her about how he was in love with Bruno, but the way that he said it seemed bitter sweet, Like maybe he was still in love with him. Mirabel listened intently
"Do you have any idea where he would have gone? did he ever talk about wanting to go anywhere?"
y/n puffed his cheeks like he knew the question had been coming. "Oh he talked about leaving, crossing over the mountains, never looking back. But he'd never do it. Not alone. contrary to popular belief he's not a complete idiot." Even though he was insulting him, the smile on his face was one of pure adoration. "No. If you're looking for your uncle he's close. He would never leave your family behind." Mirabel wondered briefly if what he really wanted to say was that he would never leave him behind, And she fought the urge to ask. instead reaching out of hand to place on top of his.
"If you find him, kid...and I've got a feeling you will...tell him he's an idiot for me and that I miss him."
"What should I call you? You know when I find my uncle." She asked standing and fixing her glasses.
" just...y/n."
y/n the name rattled around her brain and she smiled saying her goodbyes and leading herself out of the house.
'now. let's go make it to Isabela's engagement dinner.'
