Welcome back to Venture Onward, your ultimate destination for all things pop culture and comic book news. Step into a time capsule and journey back to the vibrant landscape of the 1990s, an era adorned with iconic heroes and enthralling storylines that enthralled the hearts of devoted comic book enthusiasts. Prepare to be captivated by Marvel, the unparalleled powerhouse of superhero narratives, as it unveils a resplendent new miniseries that pays homage to this unforgettable decade. Brace yourself for the enthralling narrative of "Daredevil: Black Armor," where the threads of nostalgia elegantly intertwine with contemporary storytelling, breathing renewed life into the past under the masterful quill of none other than D.G. Chichester, the visionary architect behind the saga of 90s Daredevil.
As the curtains rise on a fresh chapter in the chronicles of Daredevil, a character whose legacy has been indelibly etched in the hearts of devoted fans, the resounding announcement from Marvel reverberates through the hallowed halls of creativity. Even as the comic behemoth charges ahead with an invigorating new Daredevil series crafted by the ingenious minds of writer Saladin Ahmed and artist Aaron Kuder, it simultaneously casts a wistful gaze back to the illustrious tapestry of the 1990s. An epoch marked by the birth of myriad legendary tales, it's now the stage for "Daredevil: Black Armor," a four-issue miniseries painstakingly penned by the very hand that orchestrated the character's thrilling escapades during that era of exhilaration – D.G. Chichester. This venerable wordsmith, celebrated for his pivotal contributions to Daredevil's legacy, reclaims his rightful place in the artistic spotlight, poised to reignite the imaginations of fans anew.
Marvel's initial revelation of this audacious endeavor unfolded amidst the electrifying atmosphere of Comic-Con International in San Diego. Now, the narrative tapestry is drawn tauter, as supplementary details emerge, casting an alluring glimpse into the tapestry of what lies ahead. This miniseries takes root within the hallowed ground of the revered "Fall From Grace" storyline, a cornerstone of Daredevil's mythos birthed in 1993. With a virtuoso's touch, D.G. Chichester, the maestro behind this indelible tale, guides readers back to that epoch of shadows and intrigue. A juncture when Matt Murdock, the enigmatic man beneath the mask, embarked on a transformative odyssey that led him to embrace a striking black armored guise. Yet, the narrative's complexity deepens, its tendrils of uncertainty enveloping the reader in contemplation – will this series unfold within the tempestuous events of "Fall From Grace," or will it unfurl in the poignant aftermath of its riveting culmination?
At the heart of this enigmatic journey, the bustling expanse of New York City unfurls as a sinister tapestry, its urban sprawl serving as the backdrop for an insidious undercurrent. A realm where Daredevil, guided by Chichester's deft hand, once ventured with unwavering tenacity during his original narrative run. Now, an air of enigma cloaks the city's underbelly, as a perplexing phenomenon unfolds – civilians, heroes, and villains alike vanish into thin air, leaving behind only bewilderment and apprehension. Daredevil, the indomitable crusader, stands at the vanguard of this enigma, entrusted with the arduous task of unmasking the puppeteer who tugs the strings from the concealed recesses of shadow. Yet, the stage is far from devoid of companionship, as an eclectic ensemble of characters steps forth. The notorious Hobgoblin and the ferocious Sabretooth emerge as formidable adversaries, infusing layers of intricacy into an already richly woven tapestry.
Chichester's previous tenure as Daredevil's principal storyteller garnered acclaim for his seamless integration of the broader Marvel Universe. His canvas, an expansive landscape for diverse guest stars, became a vibrant symphony of interconnected narratives. Among these, the crossover with Nomad and Punisher stands out, a precursor to the monumental crescendo of the "Fall From Grace" saga.
Chichester's sentiments about his triumphant return to the realm of Daredevil echo across time. His voice, infused with a blend of exuberance and nostalgia, encapsulates the essence of a creator revisiting a cherished realm. "If someone told me earlier that I'd have another chance to don Daredevil's horns (let alone horns adorning a suit of black armor), I would've suspected they'd taken one blow too many from a billy club. But it seems my passport to Hell's Kitchen remains valid!" Chichester's words stand as a testament to the enduring allure of Daredevil's world – a domain where darkness and valor entwine in an eternal dance.
As the architect of Daredevil's narrative resurrection, Chichester further delves into the exhilarating challenges of crafting this series. "It's an unexpected (yet welcomed!) thrill to wander once more through Matt Murdock's neighborhood, collaborating with Marvel to journey back in time and unearth a new adventure for the man devoid of fear," he muses. The creative odyssey that beckons aren't a mere revisitation; it's a bold expedition that spotlights Chichester's mastery in conjuring heightened senses and dynamic action. Accompanied by the artistic brilliance of Netho Diaz and JP Mayer, the visual storytelling is poised to breathe life into Chichester's visionary tableau.
A date etched onto the calendar of every devoted comic enthusiast – November 22 – marks the arrival of "Daredevil: Black Armor" #1. Prepare to embark on a journey that defies temporal boundaries, melding the echoes of yesteryears with the resonance of the present, crafting a symphony of storytelling that pays homage to the unwavering spirit of Daredevil, the man without fear. With that, we conclude. Thank you for your attentive ears. Until next time, onward we venture.

Rewatching Ice Age 3 and the scene at the very beginning where Diego is hunting an antelope is totally baffling to me.
Like, Ellie has been pregnant for a number of months, and a Sabretooth Tiger has to eat at some point you know??? So he's gotta have killed another thinking, feeling, living creature at least twice????
Come to think of it, he's gotta have been doing it for however long he's known Manny and Sid??????
This is basically the same as some people just kinda living with a cannibal and being like "Oh yeah that's Frankie, he's alright."
Also why the Fuck does Mannie take so much offense over Diego wanting to leave????? Imagine Frankie the cannibal comes up to you and says "Hey man, I eat people and I'm worried that I wouldn't be a good role model to your child so I'm gonna leave." And you just go "Man fuck you you're such a piece of shit."
These movies really had about 10 seconds of thought put into them and I love them for that.

you guys got any unironic ice age headcanons i don’t remember much of this series and it’s fun to joke about but also that lady sabretooth in the pirate movie is a trans lesbian she has the swag i think
i will say that the pride edits we made are actually like, genuine headcanons and actually mod jay made a bunch of edits with pride flags for some of the background characters that we’re planning to post sometimes soon, but i personally mostly just care about captain gutt. sid is a transgay he/they though. - mod gutt
ive gotta admit, i’ve always focused more on the scrat and nut arc of ice age (sorry for being a kinnie 😔) so that’s more what my headcanons are focused on, but i think Scrat is a butch lesbian :) - mod nut (omg mod gutt our names rhyme) (omg…. us….. - mod gutt)
unironically i do think diego struggles w his sexuality and figuring himself out and having manny and sid around has been the first time its safe for him to do so :-) - mod diego (I SECOND THIS SOOO BAD - mod sid)
The Ice Age Baby has a photographic memory, and remembers his adventures he experienced with Sid, Diego, and Manny. While he never saw them again, the memory of them has been passed down from generation to generation. - Mod Ice Age Baby
oh i’m a sincere believer that sid is genuinely autistic coded and gay coded. also that weasel is trans - mod sid
buck wild is bisexual and CISGENDER and does not shower -mod buck

every clue in endless summer, explained
technically the title is kinda misleading because some clues simply have no explanation, they just are. still, there’s a lot of pieces to be put together over the three books, and there are clues found in the first book that aren’t explained till the last one. (if you’re confused about the clues, here’s the fandom wiki for book 1, book 2 & book 3.)
before i dive in, here’s some clarifications:
i’ve used mc’s default name, taylor, and neutral pronouns wherever i’ve referred to them. the endless is also referred to by neutral pronouns.
acts 1, 2 & 3 fall under book 1
acts 4, 5 & 6 fall under book 2
acts 7 & 8 fall under book 3
each act has one bonus scene, so if i’m referring to bonus scene 5, it implies to the scene shown after act 5.
ok so unnecessarily long exposition under the cut!
ACT 1
i. tranquilizer dart: found by taylor and diego upon landing on the airstrip. presumably used on the sabretooth, t'kal, to keep it docile. likely done by rourke or his henchmen, but it is also highly possible the endless tranquilized t'kal in order to keep it from killing everyone.
ii. strange creature: a colourful flying seahorse, found by quinn and taylor along the beach in a premium scene. as shown in bonus scene 1, rourke knows of the creature, as he examines it with interest through his binoculars.
iii. weird lights: lights resembling the auroras displayed at the control tower, found by taylor and jake. it is later explained in book 2 chapter 10 by grace, that the lights are caused by the doppler effect, due to the dilation and contraction of time around la huerta. the vaanti call it the lights of vaanu, said to bring them good luck.
iv. vintage wine: if taylor goes to the ballroom with zahra, quinn notes that every bottle in the room predates 1924. as revealed in book 3 chapter 7, the wedding in the ballroom was that of flora and arthur, and group arrived there due to the time anomalies of the island.
v. sharp tooth: found by grace by the pool, near the fence. according to her, the bars were all twisted. presumably belongs to t'kal the sabretooth.
vi. old note: a note found by taylor and diego in one of the upgraded honeymoon/rainforest suites. it was written by flora sullivan to eugene rosencraft, before her wedding to arthur barnaby. it also references neptune cove, where the second half of the island's heart is found in book 3.
vii. pirate coin/wolf symbol: can be obtained either by going to the waterfall with quinn, or by hiking the cliff with jake. the doubloon is probably a remnant of malatesta and yvonne's loot, while the wolf symbol could have been left behind by the endless. the symbol also matches the stamp on jake's dossier.
viii. shoe prints: a set of muddy shoeprints were found by the celestial's shelter. no solid explanation or implication towards who these belong to.
ix. gas mask: found by taylor underwater in the cavern. it looks very old, and as noted by diego, probably from the world war times. it would have probably belonged to kele, a world war ii soldier who paddled his way into la huerta while escaping from the germans.
x. padlock: the unbroken padlock to the burning hangar, which implies that the hangar was unlocked and jake's plane sabotaged. in one of the memories taylor receives from the endless, lila is shown to deliberately sabotage the plane in order to keep everyone on the island, implying she may have done it in this timeline, too.
ACT 2
i. cufflink: lila is discovered pocketing the cufflink in rourke's office, which she probably did to discover his whereabouts later on. in bonus scene 2, rourke is shown to remove all his clothing, including his cufflinks, before he steps into the containment pod. the cufflink can also be used in book 1 chapter 10, where rourke's dna on it reveals a footage video of him complaining about strange occurrences on the island.
ii. dossiers: files containing data on sean, grace, raj and estela are found in the paper shredder, intact. each of them is stamped with symbols of the constellations aquila, cygnus, centaurus and draco respectively. the symbols are left behind by the endless.
iii. whiskey notes: a note discarded by rourke in the vip lounge, referencing the satellite uplink at the la huerta observatory. this is also shown in bonus scene 2.
iv. frying pan: a frying pan embossed with the centaurus symbol on it, which raj says he feels very drawn to. this was also left behind by the endless. he also uses this pan to deflect a sedative dart aimed at taylor in book 1 chapter 16.
v. arrowhead: an amber arrowhead is found lodged inside the king crab's shell, as found by taylor and estela. as the vaanti have been shown to use amber weaponry (as well as in other ways, such as the catalyst idols), it is implied that one of them may have attacked the guardian with an arrow.
vi. dossiers: files containing data on jake, zahra and diego found in the room inside the observatory. they are stamped with the symbols of the constellations lupus, corvus and canis. symbols left behind by the endless.
vii. strange gun: a futuristic gun found by either estela or jake. in book 1 chapter 16, it is revealed to be a tachyon accelerator, used to move objects forward in time. in bonus scene 5, lila refers to the gun as a temporal perforator.
viii. star map: a holographic display of constellations, as seen by taylor and sean as they go up the pod. sean points out that the stars in the sky over la huerta don't have the usual constellations, and that the stars have not looked like this for a million years. this is confirmed in the book 1 epilogue, when aleister notes that atropo's eruption has caused la huerta to go back to the hadean eon.
ACT 3
i. dossiers: files containing data on quinn, michelle and craig found by taylor and diego by the marina. they are stamped with the symbols of the constellations delphinus, pavo and ursa. symbols left behind by the endless.
ii. rourke's ship: if taylor and lila venture into a familiar-looking boat, they will discover it is rourke's ship, the daedalus. he was seen on the ship in bonus scene 1, and he presumably destroyed it along with the other boats on the marina immediately afterwards.
iii. plastic explosive: the semtex explosive is found by taylor in the back of the boat. it's what was used to blow up the other ships in the marina, but this one malfunctioned.
iv. strange shell: a blue-purple coloured shell that repeats the speaker's words over and over. in one of the memories taylor receives from the endless, varyyn is seen tearfully listening to the shell echoing diego's voice, saying 'i'll always love you, varyyn' over and over again as it gradually fades away.
v. telepathic vision: varyyn telepathically communicates with taylor, showing them what would happen if the catalysts didn't go with the vaanti. it is later revealed to be a depiction of atropo erupting, setting the whole world on fire and destroying it.
vi. numbers: in the wine cellar, 1908 refers to a lever to the underground tunnel, disguised as a vintage wine bottle, as well as the cheat code to rourke's arcade game, most wanted 2. rourke also uses an override program on iris called the directive 1908, explained in book 3 chapter 9, which makes iris prioritise the goal she was created for -- to utilise imogen rourke's knowledge on cloning to provide an heir to rourke. another program, directive 8091, forces estela into the omega mech cockpit in book 3 chapter 10, as she is rourke's 'true' heir.
vii. dossiers: files on taylor and aleister are found inside the security centre, both stamped by the endless with symbols of constellations andromeda and serpens. aleister's dossier is newer, printed recently by iris upon discovering that he was aboard the plane to la huerta.
viii. healing plant: leaves of the plant, when wrapped around aleister's bleeding palm, heal it with unnatural speed without a trace. grace and aleister theorize this may be due to some cellular reconstructive properties the leaves may contain.
ix. necklace: worn by varyyn in book 1, the necklace is seen to have time travelling properties, as it brings back jake/estela/sean/quinn/diego back from the dead. it is unknown if the endless facilitated its use or it is associated with rourke.
x. pirate cutlass: the cutlass was forged by malatesta and was stolen from him by admiral higgenbotham, who was presumably killed alongside malatesta's crew in the flashback taylor experiences, by the vaanti. yvonne then stole the cutlass from higgenbotham's corpse, naming it chouchou. it is unclear as to how the cutlass ended up on a display case at the celestial.
ACT 4
i. hydra caduceus: a staff found in rourke's library, which when placed in the statue's hand in the atrium, turns it into a sundial. iris says that the caduceus is the only item in the library she cannot find the origin of.
ii. crimson glove: a futuristic, yet battered metal glove put on display in rourke's underground museum; taylor realises that the person's arm was probably cut off. the glove belongs to the endless, who tells taylor that they learnt very soon that 'the laws of time can be very unforgiving' with reference to their loss of limb.
iii. shotgun shell: michelle and taylor find the 12-gauge armor-piercing shell casing, as identified by jake, during the time loop. he notes that whoever shot this meant business. the shell probably came from one of the arachnids who were on the island searching for jake.
iv. snowy hills: taylor, with either jake or estela, finds snow on the hills and by the lake on a hot and sunny day, indicating time is in disarray throughout different parts of the island, much like the northern and southern parts of the island.
v. wedding ring: a wedding ring is found on the hand of a statue of a masked bride, in the valley of tombs by jake and taylor. the statue is of flora sullivan, and the ring was given to her by eugene rosencraft which she had turned down. it was after this she wrote him the note found in act 1.
vi. tattoo: uqzhaal has a back tattoo of the legend of the threshold. it is the place where yvonne finds the endless in bonus scene 5, and where yvonne, taylor and uqzhaal meet the endless after collecting all the catalyst idols and solving the puzzle.
vii. words on the wind: the voices at the singing cliffs tell taylor that something is coming across the sea, destroying everything in its path. this could either be an immediate reference to yvonne's arrival the next morning, or a vague prediction about the omega mech used by rourke in book 3.
viii. musket ball: yvonne concedes the gold musket ball at sharktooth isle in exchange for their services to find her 'treasure.'
ix. antique compass: yvonne's said treasure turns out to be an antique compass which she tries to conceal; malatesta made her walk the plank for stealing this compass, which she did in order to find the fountain of youth. the compass also leads her to the threshold in bonus scene 5.
x: oath blade: seraxa's gift to taylor for saving taari, saying that debts must be repaid in accordance with vaanti culture. she is shown to threaten the catalysts with this blade in book 2 chapter 4.
ACT 5
i. silver sap: the sap that drips from elyy'stel's tree aids the catalysts to walk in between dimensions. it is the consumption of this sap by eugene and flora that gradually turned them feral and eventually into the vaanti.
ii. deep fissure: if taylor keeps rewinding until they can't go any further, right up to the ancient sea, the catalysts witness the forming of a fissure in the ocean bed. this fissure was caused by vaanu crash-landing on the earth, and it eventually becomes mount atropo, and forms the bubble surrounding la huerta.
iii. the island's heart: one half of the island's heart, which was formed right in the crux of the volcano, found by the catalysts in the base of elyy'stel's tree.
iv. the mask maker: the masks worn by the vaanti bear the name of their maker, rosencraft & sons, 1921. this explains the masks worn by guests at flora and arthur's wedding, which also took place in the rosencraft manor. the rosencrafts were said to be bankrupt, and that the estate belonged to the banks.
v. burning shard: a burning crystal shard that glows green and reacts the same way that quinn did while possessed by the island's heart. it is one of many crystal shards scattered across the island, originating from the crux of the volcano.
vi. mansingh crater: a crater found near the chasm bears the name of mansingh transglobal tech, the company run by grace's mother, blaire hall. it is suspicious to both taylor and grace, as it implies blaire hall was somehow involved with rourke. no further explanation has been made about the crater.
vii. newspaper clipping: a scrap of an article is found by taylor in the elysian lodge, detailing the deaths of arjun and subhanu sethi due to a car accident, also killing their son and putting their daughter in a critical condition. this daughter is lila, and this article implies that rourke (or someone else) was doing a background research on lila.
viii. rourke's note: an old note written by rourke to look into the new junior researcher, as they look familiar. this is most likely a reference to olivia montoya, although it is not known where he recognises her from.
ACT 6
i. rourke's plan: out of agitation, lila blurts out rourke's plan to save the world through a machine at the masada facility. this machine turns out to be the omega mech, and rourke's plan happens to be controlling the world and its people's existence on his whims.
ii. tracking device: a tracking device is found by taylor, attached to the yeti's fur. this was placed there by the arachnid. this tracking device relays location details back to them, as seen in the military humvee by michelle, jake and taylor, where the code name for the yeti is arktos.
iii. garbled message: a distorted voice reveals the date and coordinates of jake's location, received by the arachnid through an anonymous transmission, which is how they came upon la huerta in the first place. this voice belongs to jake himself, who did so using a 'time-phone' in order to merge realities and help them escape through a helicopter from the masada facility.
iv. crashed satellite: varyyn, while talking about shooting stars, says a satellite once crashed to the ground from the skies. it is probably a stray satellite that got caught in the la huerta time bubble, or it belonged to rourke.
v. omega mech: olivia montoya demonstrates rourke's plans for the omega specimen, aka the endless, through a vr headset. she urges the viewer to understand the destruction the specimen, and rourke, are capable of.
vi. missing guests: rourke claimed that the guests at the celestial were evacuated in time at the beginning of the book, but it is shown that he had them put in containment pods. as seen in bonus scene 4, lundgren and the other arachnids were a part of these guests, but were released by rourke upon striking a deal with him to capture jake.
vii. charred skeletons: skeletons of people are found in the flames and ashes at hartfeld, proving that people did not escape the eruption.
viii. havana cigar: lundgren's cigar at the masada facility implies that he was snooping around where he shouldn't, and that he didn't trust rourke. this distrust is confirmed in bonus scene 6.
ACT 7
i. temple/ancient map: if taylor, yvonne and uqzhaal find the endless, they will give the whereabouts of no'ox naj temple to yvonne, where the fountain of youth exists. if they don't find the endless, taylor and yvonne find a carving of the la huerta map on the walls at the threshold, also hinting towards the temple. the whole group meets the endless for the first time in this temple in book 3 chapter 4.
ii. scout: a mechanical spider with a spy camera is found by taylor while they go windsurfing to win malatesta's bet. like the tracker on the yeti, this was also placed by the arachnid to track down their locations.
iii. padlock: a weathered padlock bearing the inscription, 'no land, no sea, no one will keep us apart. flora & eugene, 1920,' found by taylor in a coral reef. after turning down eugene's proposal (the ring clue, book 2), she tried to make it up to him with this padlock and by asking him to show up at neptune cove (the note clue, book 1). when he failed to show up, flora gave up on him and somehow ended up in a forced marriage to arthur barnaby a year later.
iv. pen: a tarnished silver pen bearing grace's name is found in the shrine at no'ox naj temple. it is implausible that she was at the temple, as she was under rourke's custody the whole time. it is also the same pen seen in grace's catalyst idol, returned to her by aleister and ultimately found near professor diaz's car which she had smashed up.
v. silver sap: one of the drinks served at the anachronists' party at quarr'tel is the silver sap from elyys'tel's tree. the creation of the vaanti myth, which is said to have started at a masquerade theme wedding, is that of flora and arthur's, where the former gets shot after confessing her love for eugene at the wedding. in an attempt to save her, eugene gives her some of this sap. this consumption eventually turns them into the feral vaanti.
vi. spirit's identity: the anachronist, clockmaker, refers to the faceless spirit as vaanu. in reality, vaanu is simply an alien being from another planet (the prism dimension) who crash landed on earth when its planet was destroyed. upon communing with vaanu, taylor discovers they are vaanu's creation, made for the purpose of returning la huerta to its normal state, allowing vaanu's departure.
vii. aleister's note: aleister writes a note to grace, apologising to her, and how he feels genuine remorse over his betrayal. he mentions that he hopes to redeem himself in her eyes.
ACT 8:
i. painting: at the rosencraft manor, there's a painting titled 'depiction of the divine' portraying rourke writing the ten commandments dressed in roman attire. the attire probably matches the statue of himself in the atrium, which opens up the sundial to his museum.
ii. communicator: the anachronists provide sean, raj and michelle with antique communicators which lets them coordinate the attack on cetus.
iii. path to the core: vaanu shows quinn the way to the core of the volcano, where the island's heart belongs. this core is the place where vaanu landed on earth.
iv. molten crystals: a crystal orb with claw markings in it, made by the oryctoraptor that dwells inside the volcano. referred to by varyyn as the deep guardian, it is the most reclusive of the four. it is also responsible for the orb found in the cavern in book 1 chapter 5, and possibly the orb that causes the time loop in book 2 chapter 2.
v. the endless' musings: zahra finds a diary belonging to the endless at the base of the volcano, in which they speak of how the sentience of the crystals probably drew the four guardians (cetus, king crab, yeti, oryctoraptor) to establish order on the island, but they were driven mad. the endless also believes it is possible the crystal created the creatures. this is possible, as it would explain the existence of the colourful seahorse, t'kal and furball (although they have not been affected like the guardians have.)
vi. closing words: the closing words spoken by seraxa during the handfasting ceremony, which is customary as 'it was for the first bride and her beloved.' they are the same words that were engraved in the padlock that flora made for eugene.

Born in Milbury House in Victorian London, Nathaniel Essex was the son of Admiral Erasmus Essex and his wife Mary Essex. Earning a full scholarship to the University of Oxford, Essex becomes a biologist in 1859 and married his wife Rebecca. A contemporary of Charles Darwin, Essex becomes highly interested in theories and research regarding evolution and "survival of the fittest." He concludes that humanity is undergoing increasing mutation, due to what he calls "Essex Factors" in the human genome. After the loss of his four-year-old son Adam due to birth defects, Essex becomes more obsessed with his work. While he dreams of evolving the human race to a greater state of being, he is also frustrated that his peers do not agree with his methods due to moral constraints, arguing that science is beyond morality. His research methods and ideas lead to mockery and finally ousting from the Royal Society and the scientific community. Angry and bitter, Essex decides he will accept becoming a "monster" in the eyes of others if that is what is necessary to achieve success in his work.[2]
Essex later hires the criminal Cootie Tremble and his gang, the Marauders. The Marauders kidnap homeless and neglected people off the streets of London as test subjects for Essex's experiments, including a man named Daniel Summers (an ancestor of the X-Man Scott Summers AKA Cyclops). Two years after Adam's death, the Marauders awaken the immortal Egyptian called En Sabah Nur ("The First One," known in later years as Apocalypse), whom Essex believes is the first of a new race of mutant humans. Holding similar beliefs regarding "survival of the fittest", the mutant villain Nur offers an alliance in order to aid Essex's research.[2]
Cyclops and Phoenix, heroes from the future, arrive via time travel to stop Nur from conquering 19th century England, though they also hope to find a way to prevent Dr. Essex's future transformation into Mr. Sinister. Nur defeats Cyclops and Phoenix, leaving them for Essex to experiment on. Phoenix explains to Essex that continuing his work with Nur will lead to worldwide destruction. Sensing truth in her words, Essex decides to leave behind his research and dedicate his life to family instead, as his wife Rebecca is pregnant once again. Unknown to him, Rebecca Essex investigates his lab and is shocked to discover imprisoned human test subjects and the remains of their son being experimented on. Freeing the prisoners and reburying her son, the strain and stress evidently cause Rebecca to go into premature labor. When Nathaniel arrives to explain he is leaving behind his unorthodox research, he finds that the unborn child has died in stillbirth and Rebecca is now dying as well. Nathaniel asks for forgiveness, but Rebecca refuses, saying with her dying breath, "To me, you are... utterly… and contemptibly… sinister!" Following Rebecca's death, Essex allies with En Sabah Nur, becoming the villain's first "prelate." Using alien technology at his disposal, Apocalypse subjects Essex to a painful genetic transformation, turning him into an ageless being with chalk-white skin and gifting him with a form of telekinesis. When En Sabah Nur tells the transformed scientist to shed his past identity and choose another, Essex decides he will now be "Sinister."[2] While claiming his humanity has now been carved out of him, Essex continues to carry Rebecca's photo until 1882.[2]
Another encounter with Cyclops convinces Sinister that the hero knows him from the future. Cyclops and Jean Grey then leave before Sinister can get further answers. When Apocalypse demands Sinister create a deadly plague that they can unleash on Earth, the scientist refuses, arguing that cruelty without purpose is ignorance, thus the enemy of science. Appreciating that Sinister has shown strength through defiance, Apocalypse returns to his hibernation state but promises that when he returns Essex will be his servant and they will reshape the world.[2] Following the death of Charles Darwin, Sinister travels to America and assumes the identity of obstetrician "Nathan Milbury" (taking the name of his ancestral home), head of the Essex Clinic in New York in the 1890s. There he continues secret experiments on people in order to learn more about genetic manipulation and improve his own biology. He comes to understand more and more that certain people are born with an "X-factor gene" or "X-gene", making them mutants whose powers and abilities often manifest during puberty or trauma. One early test subject is a mutant with a long lifespan named Amanda Mueller. To see how her children will be affected by her genes, Sinister has Amanda marry his former test subject Daniel Summers (who recently became the first of his family to immigrate to America). With each birth, Amanda feigns a miscarriage and secretly brings the baby to Sinister, who compensates her. Seeing great potential in the Summers family line, Sinister monitors the family for over a century to come.
Around this same time, Sinister encounters Courier and Gambit, two mutants from the future. Sinister takes a cell sample from the shape-shifting Courier and is able to implant its genetic traits into his own body, gaining complete control of his form's appearance and allowing himself to regenerate from damage. Before Courier and Gambit leave, Sinister sees evidence that he has (or will) perform surgery on Gambit at some point in the future.[10]
In 1899, Apocalypse emerges from hibernation again and is pleased with Sinister's work, including the development of a deadly techno-organic virus. Sinister then injects the virus into Apocalypse, but it only weakens the villain. As Apocalypse returns to hibernation to heal, he promises to kill Sinister when next they meet. Sinister decides his genetic research must now include the possible creation of a mutant who can kill Apocalypse.[11]
20th CenturyEdit
In 1907, Sinister works at the Ravencroft Institute and employs the mutant killer Sabretooth as an agent. Sabretooth brings him the mutant called Logan. Sinister experiments on Logan but the man is then freed by coworker Dr. Claudia Russell (ancestor of the werewolf Jack Russell). Sinister then leaves Ravencroft and Logan's powerful mutant recovery abilities eventually heal the damage he suffered.[12] In 1912, Sinister encounters Grigory Rasputin and encourages him to father many children, promising they will have superhuman potential. These descendants later include the mutant warrior siblings Colossus, Magik, and Mikhail Rasputin.[13] A few years later, Sinister grants shape-shifting abilities to Jacob Shaw (father of the X-Men villain Sebastian Shaw).[14] It has been implied that during the 1920s, Sinister gave Dr. Herbert Edgar Wyndham information regarding how to map and break a human genetic code, thus leading to his career as the master geneticist called the High Evolutionary.[15]
During the 1920s, Sinister lives in Los Angeles as "Nathan Essex" and befriends radio comedian Faye Livingstone. Realizing Faye's genetic potential to have mutant children, he keeps her prisoner and experiments on her for some time, then one day releases her. Faye never has children and develops cancer. When both her mind and body break down, she become a patient at a hospital in San Diego for the rest of her life, her treatment apparently provided for by Sinister himself, who visits her once a year in his human guise of Essex.[16]
During World War II, Sinister works with the Nazi Dr. Josef Mengele. Others who see Sinister nickname him "Nosferatu." A young Max Eisenhardt (who will grow to be Magneto) encounters him at this time and realizes that Sinister is experimenting on children, then killing those he deems failures or no longer needed. During this time, Sinister sometimes plays a favorite piece by Franz Shubert, and decades later Magneto still associates him with the music.[17] During his work with the Nazis, Sinister creates a clone of the Atlantean warrior Namor, the Sub-Mariner. The clone, N2, is defeated by Captain America and Sinister soon concludes that it's time for him to leave the Nazis behind, as they will soon lose the war. Sinister's research during World War II is later recovered and used by the scientists behind the Weapon X project.[18]
Following World War II, Sinister adopts the name "Dr. Nathan Milbury" again and works on Project: Black Womb with Dr. Kurt Marko (the father of Juggernaut) and Dr. Alexander Ryking (who, like Marko, is a friend and colleague of Brian Xavier, father of Charles Xavier), as well as the precognitive mutant Irene Adler. They conduct research on many mutant children and take note of several families that may produce mutant children later, allowing Sinister to monitor them for decades.[19] In 1968, during the Vietnam War, Scalphunter brings soldiers and civilians to Sinister's new lab in Saigon for experimentation. Sabretooh, working as a mercenary, is hired to find the truth about the "White Devil" and his connection to reports of missing people, as well as the rumors of "monster men" appearing. Scalphunter tells Sabretooth to leave him and Sinister alone, offering money and teasing that he will let the authorities know the mercenary has been killing prostitutes during his investigation. Sabretooth agrees to leave with the money and Scalphunt indicates that he and Sinister will recruit him in the future.[20] Some years later, Sinister returns to England as Dr. Milbury, becoming a professor at the University of Oxford. His students include Moira MacTaggert and the mutant telepath Charles Xavier, who realizes he cannot sense Dr. Milbury's mind or read his thoughts.[21]
Years after Sinister's time back at Oxford, and during the time that Charles Xavier is first befriending Magneto while both are living in Isreal, a version of the heroic mutant Hank McCoy from an alternate timeline (known as the "Age of Apocalypse") enters the mainstream Marvel reality. Known as the Dark Beast, this version of McCoy is an amoral geneticist who worked for years under the mentorship of his reality's version of Sinister. Dark Beast eventually makes his way to New York City and experiments on many mutants, using techniques Sinister taught him. Several of his surviving test subjects become deformed or disabled by their own abilities as a result, choosing to hide underground and join a sewer-dwelling mutant community known as the "Morlocks" (taking the name from the subterranean race of the novel The Time Machine). Years later, Dark Beast's experiments indirectly lead to Sinister ordering the "Mutant Massacre."

Here's your daily reminder to drink some water ❤️❤️❤️ ((they have,,, more than 2 ice age movies??))
there are 5 mainline movies that all follow the same storyline and 1 spinoff:
ice age 1 = the original and the originator of most of the ice age memes made back in the day. manny the mammoth, sid the sloth, and diego the sabretooth tiger return a human baby to its human tribe. enemies to friends, diego redemption arc, and found family tropes all abound
ice age 2 = my personal favourite. manny believes hes the last mammoth but he actually isnt when he meets his love interest whose name i have forgotten bc its so generic but shes actually a spunky and interesting character who got adopted by fucking POSSUMS
ice age 3 = the most forgettable imo, which is a FEAT bc this is the movie with DINOSAURS in it, but all i remember about this is that sid kidnaps three children and that theres a badass weasel who has a questionable kismesissitude (love-hate) relationship with this white dinosaur
ice age 4 = the one ive seen the most. features a lady tiger love interest for diego, monkey pirate, sids grandma, a weird romance between manny’s mammoth daughter who he named “peaches” and an actual mole?????? how would that even work???? poor man is gonna get crushed
ice age 5 = never seen it, but from the trailers id assume it was an asteroid extinction event and that the gang have to stop it. i would not be surprised if peaches the mammoth daughter and her love interest an actual fucking mole get like. married
spinoff movie: no time for nuts. thats the title and the only thing i know about the movie and i would like to keep it that way

Michael After Midnight: Ice Age
Tumblr media
I think this is the saddest I’ve ever been to write a Michael After Midnight. Not because I hate the film I’m talking about, far from it, but because it has become so obscure and overshadowed by the massive succession of soulless, empty sequels that this one has been forgotten…
...which is what I would say if I’d seen more than the first sequel, which was… okay. Not really very meaningful or special, kind of trite and definitely showcasing the things critics and audiences would lambast in the future movies. But yes, I’ve only seen the first two Ice Age films and I’m not sure I care to see the rest; they just don’t look all that appealing to me. And it’s pretty easy to see why if you watch the first film, which has a pretty solid, definitive ending to the point there didn’t even need to be sequels.
The original film tells the story of the curmudgeonly mammoth Manny who meets up with the absolute space case that is Sid the sloth and the shifty sabretooth tiger that is Diego, and together the three go on a road trip across the frozen landscapes to bring a lost human baby who survived an attack on a nearby village from Diego’s pack to its “herd.” Of course, Manny and Sid don’t know Diego is there to get the baby for his pack leader, and neither of them trust him much, but they begrudgingly allow him along since he knows the way, and through a series of comical misadventures the three end up becoming fire-forged friends. Or, I should say, ICE-forged friends. Eh? EH?
Anyway… This film is just impressive because it’s actually pretty heavy with emotion. The death scene of the mother and Manny’s flashback upon seeing the cave paintings late in the movie are the peak dramatic moments, and they really don’t disappoint. Manny’s reminiscence of what happened to his mate and child is such a great, heart-wrenching character moment you may actually cry, and I’m willing to bet you never thought you’d hear anyone say that about an Ice Age film.
The comedy here is actually pretty on point, as well. I think it helps this came out in the early 2000s, before excessive reference humor and constant loudness and over-the-top characters became a trend in animated films, so there’s not really any of that; even Scrat, who you may know as the breakout comedic underdog who constantly suffers in his quest to bury an acorn, is given little screentime in this film and is spaced out as sort of interludes between major plot scenes to either lighten the mood or just act as a cherry on top of a comedic moment before. And because of his limited screentime, he never really overstays his welcome.
For the main cast, Sid is the comic relief, and he’s utilized pretty well in the film, with John Leguizamo giving him lovable loser qualities that would be needlessly exacerbated in the sequels. Here though, he’s a lot more well-meaning and likable, and he gets a few good jokes in here and there as well as playing off of Diego and Manny very well. Probably the biggest plus, though, is the lack of modern cultural references or anachronistic pop culture jokes. Sure, there’s a couple of history gags, with Stonehenge, snowboarding, and even a Vulcan Salute done towards a frozen UFO, but none of that really stands out as egregious or obnoxious like the characters singing pop songs in the sequel. Overall it’s just very well-rounded in terms of comedy, with most of the humor coming off of how the characters interact.
And speaking of characters, the core cast is very good, I must say. All three of them are likable and entertaining, and it’s really nice to see three people from three different walks of life come together and form something of a family. Their friendship actually ties in pretty well with their backstories as well: Manny’s family was killed by human hunters, leaving him bitter and lonely; Sid was left behind by his family during the big migration, likely because they find him obnoxious; and Diego just doesn’t seem to get much respect from his pack in general. All of them are lost, and yet they found each other and grew to become an unconventional yet still functioning family.
It’s so weird to look now and see Ice Age as a franchise. Frankly, this movie just feels like it would have been fine as a one-and-done deal. It has a good blend of comedy, a fun cast, a story that has room for heartwarming and tearjerking moments, and decent animation that doesn’t look too bad even today, and it ended on an amusing and satisfying note. Even with the second movie, you kind of get the feeling Blue Sky Studio was trying really hard to catch that lightning in a bottle twice and trying really hard to make things work again without truly understanding why their own film worked the first time, a problem that their biggest competitors (Dreamworks and Disney) were also facing at the time with films like Chicken Little, Shark Tale, and Shrek the Third.
Still, no matter your thoughts on the sequel, the first film is a genuinely good road trip movie. I definitely recommend it to people who like animated movies; these days I’d certainly call it an underrated gem, if only because its bloated franchise has kind of crushed it down into a tiny corner where it’s hard to see in comparison. It’s also not a bad choice if you like wacky road trip movies; where else are you gonna see a road trip film that features every single dodo in existence fighting over a watermelon and driving themselves to extinction in an attempt to get said melon? Nowhere, so watch Ice Age.
Blue Sky took a very long time to get respect thanks to its reputation with sequels, but I think that reputation is mostly unfair; while sure, they probably milked Ice Age a bit much, considering they came out the gate with this film and then followed it up with the charming cult classic Robots, I feel like people kind of undervalued them for a while, at least until 2015 in which they unleashed a true modern classic upon us in the form of The Peanuts Movie. You gotta give credit where it’s due; for all the impact, good and bad, that their first film had, it’s hard to deny that Ice Age is a genuinely good film, and maybe even a great one.

By far my favorite piece of Lazy Simpsons Cameo Writing is the episode where Bart steals the cell phone of actor Dennis Leary on a golf course and Dennis is taking too long so Krusty yells “move it, Ice Age!” and Dennis just turns around as straight-up says “Ice Age is a movie where I play a sabretooth cat named Diego”

Furball (Jake x MC)
Inspiration: Round 69 of #choicescreates - “Wrong Decisions” @clonedhayden
Summary: F!MC (Millie) is irritated. Furball makes an appearance. Amends are made. Takes place during Endless Summer Book 1 Chapter
Rating: PG-13 (language) otherwise PG
Word count: 1692
Special note: First time for everything. Please be gentle. I had a lot of fun with this. Fluffiness ahead.
Disclaimer: I do not own these characters, Pixelberry Studios owns them.
“So Millie and I ended up hiding in my friend, Edgar’s, closet - wearing hockey masks - for about two hours until he finally came home.” Diego could barely keep his composure as he recounted a Halloween prank they had pulled off during sophomore year at Hartfeld to Zahra and Craig.
“Wait,” Zahra tried to stifle a smile, “D&D Edgar?” She took a drink of her mimosa and Diego nodded. She looked at Craig and they both laughed, her spitting out some of her drink.
Failing to engage in the conversation, Millie focused on pushing her cold bagel around with her fork. The smear of cream cheese sat on the plate, untouched. Her eyes darted around the breakfast hall to see who was left. Sean, Michelle, Aleister, and Grace had left in a huff. Quinn and Raj were working on their second helping of scrambled eggs. Lila was flittering around the room, busing tables and cleaning up. Furball was scampering around, vacuuming up what he could find.
Finally, her eyes focused on Jake. He was sitting in a booth with his feet propped up on the table, fiddling on the padlock Millie recovered the day before. For a moment, his eyes caught hers across the room. Normally, she’d feel butterflies in her stomach and blush. Not this time. This time she scowled at him and looked away, focusing again on the bagel.
Despite her stomach rumbling, she couldn’t eat a bite. She was irritated. Nerves on end. Millie took a deep, cleansing breath to help calm those nerves. It didn’t help. Her reality was that she was stuck on an abandoned island with her best friend and a group of people she barely knew. The right side of her abdomen was sore from the swipe from an actual Sabretooth Tiger’s paw. To make things worse, she had interjected herself in a pissing match between the two resident alpha males.
Eyeing the coffee urn by the buffet, she slid out of her chair and grabbed a mug. She took another deep breath. Why did she get in the middle of their argument that morning? Honestly, had she stayed out of it, they probably would have devolved into another physical altercation. Against her better judgement, she poured some coffee in her much and turned around to survey the room again. Her eyes settled on Jake who was still fiddling with the padlock, a blank look on his face.
Though unnecessary, she had defended him against Sean. Truthfully, she didn’t see anything wrong with Jake and his half of their group relaxing by the pool and playing in the ocean even if Sean and his companions searched The Celestial for any way to get off the island. Maybe she didn’t see any wrong because she had decided to join Jake, needing a few hours of relaxing and goofing off to clear her head.
Stirring creamer into her coffee, she frowned, thinking about what was making her more agitated: allowing Sean to make her feel guilty for taking time off by pool or insinuating that she defended Jake because of the attraction she felt for him. She groaned, starting to wonder if Sean was actually right.
She ran a hand through her long blond hair, twisting it behind her neck. Sighing, she set down the coffee, realizing she didn’t need her nerves any more stimulated. Looking around the room once more, she saw that Diego was still laughing with Craig and Zahra. Smiling, she silently blessed him for being able to use humor and pop culture references to diffuse an uncomfortable situation.
Yoga and a nap would do her well, she decided, and left the room, heading for her suite. Halfway down the hall, she thought of Furball and how much she wanted to cuddle with him. Turning back around, she heard Jake growl, “Watch it, Snowflake!” followed by a distressed “Mmrrk!!” by the little blue fox.
Her jaw slightly dropped when she looked at Jake and Furball. Jake’s eyes were wide as he realized that as Furball was scampering around underfoot, he had accidently stepped on his tail. His face was instantly full of regret and guilt. Before he could say anything, he saw Millie angrily stalk down the hall towards him.
Furball, still in shock, scurried up Millie and perched on her shoulder. She stopped in front of Jake, hands on her hips.
“What the fuck, Jake?!” She narrowed her eyes at him. Oh, she was mad. “What did Furball ever do to you?!”
“I, uh…” He stammered as he looked at Furball with remorse. “Sorry, little Snowflake.” Tentatively, he reached out a hand to pet Furball. Furball rewarded him with a purr, allowing Jake to run his hand a few more times on his back. Satisfied and forgiving, Furball jumped onto the floor and nuzzled against Jake’s leg. Jake looked back at Millie, “Look, Princess –“
“Don’t you Princess me, Jake!” Her body was tense as turned to walk away.
After walking past the corner, she slumped against the wall and took a few, deep cleansing breaths. She hadn’t meant to yell at Jake even if that allowed her to release some tension. Closing her eyes, she thought about the past few days – they’d spent a lot of time alone, exploring the island. They liked being around each other and looked forward to the next time they would meet. She put her head in her hands and shook her head. No, he didn’t deserve to be yelled at.
Before retreating to her suite, she looked back at the hallway and saw Jake kneeling on the floor, a hand now full of bacon that Furball was happily eating. Jake’s other hand was scratching behind Furball’s ear. “What a softie.”
***
Millie looked at herself in the mirror and smiled at her reflection as she pulled her hair up into a ponytail. After a yoga session, a nap, and shower, she was refreshed and rejuvenated. Having reflected on her handling of the events earlier in the day, she was ready to smooth things over with Jake, Sean, and the rest of their group.
First though, she needed to check on Furball. Millie half-expected that Furball would have followed her to her room but he was nowhere in sight. She had a sneaking of suspicion of where he was.
The air was warm and humid when she walked outside and quickly glanced around the pool area. Raj was sitting at a table, writing something down, deep in thought. Crossing her arms, she looked at the other side of the pool and spotted her little blue fox.
She felt her heart skip a beat when she saw Furball curled up in a hammock on a bed of Jake’s green bomber jacket. Purring softly, he was snuggled against Jake who was lying in the hammock, taking a nap. With a goofy grin on her face, she walked over to them.
Crouching to get to eye level, she put her hand on Furball’s head to pet him and softly greeted him, “Hey there, Furball.” He opened an eye and let out a happy squeak. Jake opened an eye, looking at the both of them. Her eyes met his and she let go of Furball. “Uh, hi, Top Gun.” She gave him a shy smile.
“Millie.” He acknowledged and moved to get up. Though her tone was promising, he figured she’d want her space. She stood up and put a hand on his arm to stop him. Millie climbed into the hammock with both of them, Furball in the middle. Jake shifted to face her, a small smile on his face.
“Princess.” She corrected. Her hand ran down Furball’s back.
“Princess.” Furball cooed as Jake’s hand started petting his head. Silent, they focused on petting Furball. A few times, their fingers brushed against each other, sending electricity through her body.
Millie piped up, “I had a poodle growing up.” Jake laughed, of course Princess would have had a poodle. “One time I accidently stepped on her foot. I didn’t see her for the rest of the afternoon.” Furball’s ears perked up and he looked at her. “Don’t worry, Furball.” He cooed and got up, shaking out his body and skipping off.
Her eyes darted down to their hands, Jake’s fingers were combing against her palm. She moved her fingers to lace them with his. He cleared his throat, “I know I’ve been an ass. I’ll work on it. Scout’s honor.”
She scooted closer to him, closing their gap. Her eyes studied him – his long, sandy brown hair had fallen in front of his blue eyes, his five o’clock shadow, that smirk on his face that drove her absolutely crazy. Her heart felt like it was pounding. Tilting her head, she noticed a bruise on his cheekbone, a souvenir from his fist fight with Sean the day before. With her free hand, her thumb gently grazed the bruise. “Jake, you’re much sexier without the over the top machismo.” Instantly, she felt her face redden. A deep, tomato red. She couldn’t believe she blurted that.
A huge grin emerged on his face, “Duly noted, Princess.” His thumb moved to caress her hand. “I’ll go make friends with Captain America.”
The butterflies seemed to multiply in her stomach and she took a deep breath. With her free hand, she pushed his hair back and out of his face. “I’m sorry I yelled at you.”
“You know, Princess.” He hooked his free arm underneath her hip, drawing her even closer. Her breath hitched and she briefly struggled to regulate her breathing. “I never give a damn whenever someone’s mad at me.” He let go of her hand and moved it to cup her cheek. His voice lowered, “I do give a damn if you’re mad at me, Princess. I’ll stay on your good side.”
She gave him a grateful smile. Before she knew it, they leaned towards each other until their lips gently brushed together. Her mind and heart were racing, they were finally going to kiss.
Just then, they heard Raj bounding towards them, jolting them to a seated position. “Doodlebugs! Can we talk?”
