listen if the existence of the book means there are an infinite number of realities then there’s at least one where fukuzawa took in the both of them and the ada was born on two pillars instead of just one
(pls do not tag as beast)

The fact I haven't seen that many people talk about how lestat did the exact same thing his father did to him to Claudia by forcibly removing her from the train in ep 6 is a real disservice to both Claudia and Lestat

I saw a rant about how the back and forth between Fyodor and Dazai is ridiculous at this point and like. I think that’s the point. The point is that one is not actually superior to the other in regards to intellect so they are ALWAYS going to be stuck in this cycle of ‘well I thought of/planned/predicted that!’.
The difference is in their connections and what those connections are made of. I find it fascinating actually that Fyodor thinks he’s won because he STOLE gravity away from Dazai and claimed Dazai didn’t even know how to use it when he had it! The thing is though, Chuuya doesn’t seem to be under Fyodor’s control anymore and he hasn’t ever chosen the people who try to use him like an object over Dazai. And despite the four years of separation (which was longer than their time together) he always came when Dazai expected him to.
And I’m thinking he expects him to now which would ultimately be what tips the scale in Dazai’s favor. Because where Fyodor sees a tool Dazai sees his partner. I’m also thinking Chuuya isn’t the only key to success here and that was why he chose Sigma too (if the points where he thinks about the ADA not using each other is any sort of foreshadowing).

i do think there's a fascinating parallel between teruko and fukuzawa here. fukuzawa can't do what needs to be done because of his love for fukuchi; teruko does what she has to despite her love for fukuchi.
fukuzawa doesn't have the military mindset that teruko does. his one wish was to be able to protect those he cared about. fukuzawa is a good person, but there are certain people he values above the rest of the world, and when he's forced to make the choice between saving someone he cares about and saving the world, he can't do it. there's a reason he doesn't like organizations and a reason he refused to join the army with fukuchi; he's literally not cut out for it. and because of this, he really isn't cut out to lead the army of mankind either. if he can't kill fukuchi, who nearly destroyed the world, why should he be given the one order?
teruko, on the other hand, can put her feelings aside and make the hard choice and do what has to be done. arguably, she would be far more suited to lead the army of mankind because of this. fukuchi needed fukuzawa to kill him to fully prove himself capable of using the one order and leading the world's army. but he didn't. he didn't want that anyway, and it's not a role he's cut out for, even though fukuchi so desperately wanted him to be. fukuchi was banking on the fact that fukuzawa would be worthy of the role he gave him. and teruko knows that. teruko knows fukuzawa needed to be the one to kill fukuchi. and she knew that he couldn't do it, but she could, and she could give him the credit so they are the only two who know the truth. so the rest of the world will follow fukuchi's plan out after his death and decide fukuzawa is capable and worthy of a role he never wanted, and a role he shouldn't have

Again the sickness speaking but here's something that has been going through my mind since forever:
I feel like a good way to mitigate a lot of discontent with the doa arc ending and in general the whole Dazai-being-flawless issue bsd has going on is by comparing bsd to Sherlock Holmes by Arthur Conan Doyle. Please bear with me for two minutes.
When Sherlock Holmes was being published, people were intrigued and enamoured by Holmes' brilliant and charming, crimes-solving figure. People read the stories for the pure joy of being left gaping at his superhuman wits again and again; they didn't want to see him fail, they wanted to be shocked and amazed by his genius. When Holmes died and then came back, nobody lamented it being unrealistic, because realism was not what people were reading the books for! They were reading to be impressed, to cheer for the hero and then take satisfaction in seeing him turn out victorious. That's the author-reader deal that was made there: to impress and to enjoy being impressed.
As of recently I feel like we've been asking from bsd something it never promised us in the first place. Maybe it's just not that kind of series! Maybe it's more about surprising the reader with how the hero is going to make it and less about highlighting his flaws and insecurities. And like, that's okay! That's why Dazai getting away with it isn't it him getting away with it “again”, it's just how bsd is; in a way, it's what makes bsd bsd.
I think it really clicked with me like it never did before when I watched the last episode of season 5; because the arc ending felt so shocking and unpredictable, very deus-ex-machina trope, a little underwhelming in its lowering the stakes that were there the whole time, and yet so extremely on brand with bsd, I didn't even have it in me to be disappointed. It was so similar to the Guild's arc ending and even more to the Cannibalism arc ending, and maybe it really is just a pattern, maybe it really is what bsd aspires to be, and that's okay too.
Also, I can't stretch this enough: if it's not your cup of tea, that's fine. I can't say it's mine either. But I feel like criticizing bsd now for how it's always been falls quite short, because it really feels like demanding from it what it never promised to deliver in the first place. That's just as far as my current perception of the series goes, though, so feel free to disagree with me on this.

Hunter AU
Tumblr media
A sneak peak sketch of an au of Hunter!
I’m currently naming it DOG Au but that might change in this future.
In this Au, Belos previous Golden Guard had lasted 27 years, with Belos truly believing that he was the ‘one’, only for the Guard to betray him. This is the most emotion and even hurt Belos has felt in decades and as he results he vows that the next one will be perfect. As a result he raises Hunter differently then his previous Grimwalkers. For starters, that Hunter is created at age 3 unlike the young adults of before.
Belos and Hunter are also closer in this au (for the worst) With Hunter no longer just being his right hand man but also the man’s eyes and hands in general. Which is him essentially doing more of the messy work then shown in canon. With Belos teaching Hunter more things (including personal ) then in Canon. He teaches Hunter how to replicate bile magic with his staff along side staff exclusive magic, potions, and even glyphs. He tells Hunter that only he the Emperor and the Golden Guard are permitted to use true wild magic as they are the only ones that can maintain it. He still doesn’t let Hunter use wild magic to help his curse still.
Hunter is aware he’s a Grimwalker.
However, no one besides Belos knows Hunters face in this, not even the coven heads like in canon. Hunter was also a lot more isolated in his childhood with him only appearing for scout training at age 11 for scout training and passing with flying colors ( beating record set by Lilith) Before Hunter was raised and taught by Belos only, essentially messing him up during his primary developing years. Only after he was 11 was he allowed high end tutors and training outside of Belos. He officially became Golden guard at 13.
Hunter is still a dork in this au but he was taught more masking and manipulations skills by Belos. He did a lot of Belos dirty work and is overall more ruthless with the hopes of being the perfect grimwalker. He still acts similar then in canon but with a additional layer of grime to him.
Canon events in the show involving Hunter play out quite differently in this AU
A more detailed explanation when I actually finish these drawings lol
Here’s a sketch of his suit in this AU

Hello! Lemme start right off the bat, I love your Replacement AU so much, Zingo and Plum are best good girls!! Love seeing the interactions as they come up, and all your pokemon art in general, it's all so good! XD
Secondly, a tiny tibit of info in regards to Zemmet, I've been looking at the models for the Legends pokemon in Home for referencing and stumbled upon an important discovery
Tumblr media
Hisuian Zoroarks have the tiniest tails, three lil tufts but its a nub tail! Normal Zoroarks don't have them, with their manes acting as the tail. With this in mind, would Zemmet ever wag his nubbin of a tail for anything or would he be too above showing such happy emotions?
