I’m rereading PJO because the new series is coming out on Disney + and I wanted to refresh my memory and I was thinking about Percy earlier and how this kid has so much nerve, like the audacity this kid has, dueling a GOD, the god of war no less. And the way he can almost never keep his mouth shut. Always making silent remarks, making enemies out of being you do not want to make enemies out of. Like, wtf? Idk if this is bravery or stupidity? Probably a bit of both, and that got me thinking, you know who this loudmouth, sassy, sarcastic little shit reminds me of???

I remember when I first read aftg, I thought, “huh this Neil kid reminds me of someone” and I could never figure out who, now I know, it’s PERCY JACKSON

They are the SAME character in a different font.

The sassiness? The sarcasm? The nerve? The impulsiveness? The recklessness? The bravery? The stupidity? The quick thinking? The inability to keep their mouth shut? The undying personal loyalty??? To the point it’s a fault????

Even the inner monologues are similar.

No wonder I’m so attached to both of them.

Steve learns that Billy needs to yell and break things, because the anger of Billy Hargrove has kept him alive all these years, and it's become a sort of protection against showing vulnerabilities.

But Steve stays the first time he witnesses Billy go into one of his rages, and about an hour in, Billy stops screaming, and just goes still.

Then, his broad shoulders start to shake ever so slightly, and Steve doesn't move, he just starts to hum "Carry On My Wayward Son". But what really makes a difference? When Steve burps loudly in the middle of humming.

Billy stops crying, stares at Steve in wonder ( bc Steve stayed) and then starts laughing. A real honest to god laugh, and Steve can't help but laugh too, which makes Billy laugh even harder.

It was then when Steve knew three things; he had fallen deep in love with Billy Hargrove, there was no turning back, and he had no intention of doing so.

My girlfriend experiences psychosis more often than I do but there's been a few times I've seen shadow people, and had auditory and visual hallucinations. More often it's auditory ones than visual, and my girlfriend's the one who even mentioned the psychosis to me, explained that from what they could tell, I've also experienced it myself. It's nice to actually have it validated by someone close to me and not ignored or me being told I'm faking it just bc I've only within the last year been having more hallucinations than before. I am v v v paranoid as well so I don't know if my mental state is just entirely getting worse now that I'm a full adult at 26 or if I just have never known any other ways to cope with various trauma. I also am part of a system but no one irl knows.

That's great you have someone who can validate your experiences! It definitely helps when keeping yourself grounded in reality or at the very least remembering you're not alone in experiencing certain things. Just because you only recently started experiencing symptoms doesn't mean you're faking at all. Sometimes trauma and mental illness just work like that - it takes time to hit you. Also as a fellow system, I just wanna say you don't need to out yourself if you don't want to. Telling people IRL about it is so awkward from my experience... especially if the person doesn't know about DID/OSDD and you have to water it down and explain it using outdated terms -_- Tell people about it on your own terms!
