Physics
Michel van Biezen - oh my god I love him. I think he uses Sears and Zemansky's University Physics for example problems. His channel has 10k videos (!!!) and is very well-organized. He also lectures on math (from 5th grade to linear algebra), chem & organic chemistry, and astronomy.
Calculus
The Organic Chemistry Tutor - I mostly watch his videos on Calculus I-III and Differential Equations, but he also covers physics and chemistry.
Nancypi - Precalculus, Calculus I, and some of Calculus II. I barely showed up to calc lectures my first semester so she was a great help. also i have a crush on her
Michel van Biezen - I usually don't watch his math videos because his notation and techniques are different from what my prof makes us use
Astronomy
Urknall, Weltall, und das Leben - my literal dream channel. perfect levels of dryness, and videos are usually at least 45 minutes long. It's entirely in German though lmao

I have started to come up with the rules for magic in a world I’m building and it’s fascinating how much math makes the process easier. Like I’m focusing on specifically magic that 5e would call evocation magic. With the exception of things like poison and acid because they feel like transmutation and I don’t really want to deal with that right now.
Preliminary
My first thought was “how do you describe a fireball?” And the answer is surprisingly simple: We use the mathematical of the explosion. I can already calculate Power of sound and pressure formula why can’t I do that with a fire ball?
This triggered the insight about verbal and somatic components. Both could cause a change in pressure or a pressure wave to form and if pressure has some sort of influence on what I’ll call the magic field(M) then we can use that to cast spells.
Different pressure waves have different properties and a lot of the time the don’t tend to trigger anything because things cancel out or are so negligible that it doesn’t matter in the context of casting magic. This doesn’t mean you can’t shock or hurt someone, but it does mean that the voice and even a lot of movement can’t do harm.
On Evocation
I was specifically trying to answer how/why verbal components work and my answer was simply that the pressure field(P) is in some way related to M. I think that specificly the change in the pressure field is proportional in some way to the magic one.
(dP/dt) = k*M(x,y,z).
There is much to say about this because I think that M has at least two components that correspond with electrodynamics and kinetics(this probably included a thermodynamics component.). These these components interact with there respective force fields E and G respectively where E is a field of Force per unit charge and G is a field of Force per Mass).
I think I need to to do more research on Thermodynamics before I say more on how this works with heat, though I should note that fireball was the driving example for this thought experiment.

normal person: it's colddd outdoors today!! Better run to the door!!
physicist: considering my circumstances, I may model the sensation of cold using a combination of a temperature field and a wind velocity field. I will make the assumption that I may be treated as a particle that does not change the fields themselves. Now I will set up a system of two partial differential equations, a continuity equation for the temperature field representing the flow of heat through air, and a PDE governing wind velocity:

Alright, now I will solve both partial differential equations with respect to my given boundary conditions, then differentiate the velocity to find the acceleration, and thus the wind force. Then finding the minimum of the path given the two fields would yield me the optimal path to the door...wait have I been thinking about this when I could've just walked to the door? ahhhhh

Differential equations is so much fun for no reason, why is this insane math course so fun.
My favorite is solving with exact equations or Bernoulli’s equation. god i love mathematics it’s just so much fun
It is weird being a high schooler in a college course, as i’m in this class with people 4 urs older than me. It’s chill i’m always paired with joe, he looks at me like i’m insane when i finish a problem on the worksheets.
