They actually made a faithful English re-dub for the first three Digimon movies.

They got all available English voice actors from "back then".

Joshua Seth must have saved his announcement tweet ages ago, while being the giddiest, most nostalgic ball of sunshine about dubbing Tai all over again.

The English dub isn't even my original dub, but I feel incredibly happy to be able to witness this.

It's beautiful.

Okaaay. We finally finished watching Digimon Adventure (1999) with a friend.

What an amazing journey it was! for me it was revisiting a story that I already loved and for him was watching it for the first time.

Let me tell you, it was such an amazing thing to watch as an adult. Like the amount of beautiful things that maybe as a child you don't really understand completely but as an adult they hit super hard.

Izzy and his parents, Matt and his feeling of loneliness, Tai being worried about Hikari, and her being super selfless. Everything is so perfect!!! I have read that people said the Dark Master had filler, and I don't get that at all, maybe it was ONE person and I took it to face value.

Anyways its beautiful watch it again rn.

realized today that with the way wizardmon is from witchelny, aka the ‘magical witches’ virtual pet universe, and with the ‘magic book’ he has that could very easily be the actual device that connects a witch to their human trainer/partner (the magical witches version of a digivice), wizardmon probably knew about humans and human/digital monster partnerships before he even became a digimon. he could have even HAD a human partner himself! no fucking wonder he seemed to know gatomon was the eighth digidestined digimon before anyone else, and tried so hard to get gatomon and kari together! he personally understood the value of the partnership they were destined to have! and perhaps... he wanted to give gatomon the chance to have such a partnership that he had lost, or always wanted but had been denied?

the possibilities are endless.

Moments I love from Digimon Adventure (1999) - [9/?]

It may be more or less emotional watching it now, but I guaranteed I got emotional as fuck first time I saw this moment; Wizardmon death, his gratitude towards Gato/Tailmon, and meeting Angewomon all in one split moment (and brutally destroying Myotismon who's been bothering us for 20 episodes now, dang that was intense)

I didn't realize until now how a lot of important things like these happens so quickly, I got this idea from watching it back then that this sequence of events lasted like weeks, and it was probably a couple of minutes lmao

Agumon, NO! what you doin my boi! (lol that is pretty funny)

Okay now we had the chance to watch Our War Game. We watched it subbed, because we of course could never find the OVAs dubbed aside from the horrific movie.

I genuinely cant believe they took three different stories and tried to make them into one? Like, it doesn't make any sense.

Anyway, the story is so good, the animation in the digital space having this orange lineart, Taichi and Yamato being drawn without lineart at all in that part and of COURSE Omegamon's first appearance.

Its so good, I loved it before when I watched it dubbed like 10 years ago and I love it now a lot more having watched the original version.

Also I love Sora's new outfit it looks good on her, go off girl.

while researching the original anime for a fanfic, i organized wizardmon’s introductions to each of the digidestined for reference (and in so doing realized mimi never actually met him, she only watched him die. kinda funny/sad cuz FOR ONCE i was actually curious about her opinion on someone’s outfit)

the first of each image set is the dub, the second is the sub. text at the top is spoken first, lower text said last, and it’s all color coded based on speaking character’s outfit/appearance. the only ones i think might be unclear are patamon (whose colors are similar to wizardmon’s) and lilymon (who only speaks in this scene in the dub, not the sub)

i also just realized how funny/odd it is that he somehow lost his staff in the water, but not his hat. (especially because his official character sheet for the show DOES include shots of him without his hat- so it’s not glued to his head or anything) gonna chalk it up to them wanting to use his hat to help imply his death at the end, since they toned down the violence and didn’t show him being torn apart (tho they also had that on the reference)
