This card features Dracomon along with Huckmon and Zubamon! But do you know what connects these three?

Each one of them was designed as a part of a Digimon Anniversary celebration!

Dracomon was designed for the 10th anniversary and was revealed during the Greatest of Digimon event. Huckmon was released for the 15th anniversary celebration and was also featured in the Digivice Ver. 15th toy. And Zubamon, as you can easily deduct from the large 20 on its sword horn, was designed for the 20th anniversary. As part, it was also included in the Digital Monster Ver.20th v-pet.

My first Stage VI+ on one of my Digimon Ver.20th.

Overall experience: I definitely prefer the Digimon X over this, training and solo battles are a lot more button mashy than the X's, and i do sort of miss being able to Freeze my Digimon just to pause my run and continue a day or so later. That being said, the fact that I can get my Digimon to go to sleep early with out having to mess the clock is something in wished the DMX had, and while Evolution being paused while a Digimon sleeps does mean that evolution takes longer, I actually kind of like it that Evolution happens only when im more likely to be awake. So yeah, this was pretty interesting, and I'll most likely be playing with the DM20 more in the future.

Welcome to our new text-based research report series, DiM Dissection! Here we'll be breaking down the ecology of the capture data loaded onto different DiM cards! Our first entry will go over what a DiM is & how these reports will be structured

DiM Dissection: #0: What is a DiM?

The Basics: Capture & Load

All Digital Monster raising systems work through the use of two distinct programs: Digimon Capture & Digimon Load

Digimon Capture: “catches” a digimon in the Digital World and “zips” them into a compressed form containing data on their possible prevolutions & evolutions. Early records say this cannot be done to digimon past the Adult level, but there are conflicting reports 

Digimon Load: takes the compressed data and loads it into a Digitama, which will hatch on the system where the program is located and can then be raised

Digimon identified Memory:

Is a memory card which contains Digimon Capture data

This data is usually localized to a specific environment in the Digital World, similar to how the Pendulum Fields capture from specific areas of the Folder Continent.

However, the DiM system also includes that environmental data (Environment Capture?). Some specific data will be locked behind “Adventure Mode”, which has your raised partner explore the EC and prove you capable enough to handle that power

As the developers of the system put it:

The DiM & The Vital Bracelet:

DiM cards contain DC data, but in order to use that data for raising a digimon, you need a compatible dock: the Vital Bracelet system

Many official variations of this system exist, but the BE is the best option

While customized DiM docks do exist, most are rooted in the modification of official hardware

DiM VS VBM VS BEM:

DiM: contains DC data and its respective EC data. A BE DiM operates similarly but w/ a larger roster and higher compatibility

VBM: data structure is similar enough to that of a digimon to be used by Digimon Load, but the data is directly taken from tokusatsu franchises owned by Toei or licensed by Bandai Namco, both of whom help fund Digimon research.

BEM: Capture data is taken from various franchises and loaded in a way that does not resemble traditional digimon growth

Some theorize that these external datasets are to push towards new species of specific types. However, the data cannot be unified w/out modification of the host dock

Now then, as a bonus, we'll cover two non-standard BE DiM's, the 25th Anniversary DiM & the Imperialdramon DiM, in that order, to give a better feel of what this series will be like.

Capture Data Overview: 25th Anniversary DiM (aka Ver.25)

Expanded form of the original Digital Monster Version 1’s capture data. Includes an unlockable linear Dokimon path

Ecology in the Digital World:

File Island, Ver.1 Habitats, likely post-”Ragnarok” event given presence of newly discovered species

Roster:

This capture dataset includes two evo-families: Botamon & Dokimon

Botamon’s dataset matches that of the Ver.1 digitama on the Digital Monster Ver.20th dock, but includes a new evolution for Monzaemon in the form of ShinMonzaemon.

High number of Dragon/Dinosaur species

Shared evolutions are not dragon/dinosaur species

Perfect bodies are varied in typing, reflecting their multiple prevos. Megas are further refined Perfects

Dokimon’s dataset, which is locked behind adventure progression, gives it a linear path which follows the standard growth of Bulkmon, eventually developing into Boutmon and finally Kazuchimon. 

Evolution Observations:

Despite the higher resolution, all digimon present in this DiM are in 16x16 format, suggesting external data compression, but what’s interesting is that they also are completely transparent as they would be in older docks, allowing them to easily blend with their background environment if the contrast is low enough. This is also present when uploaded to the Arena app for combat & adventure deployment, suggesting a capacity for camouflage similar to the Commandramon-species.

Capture Data Overview: Imperialdramon DiM

Mostly complete set of the standard Imperialdramon evolution tree.

Ecology in the Digital World:

Same ruins & jungle as AWa & PWa Legacy DiM, replication of VB battle area.

Roster:

Linear Chicomon and Leafmon paths

Perfect forms can be obtained w/ or w/out Jogress

Evolution Observations:

Fighter Mode is exclusive to the Leafmon path, where as it was exclusive to Chico in the prior capture of this line, and Dragon Mode has become exclusive to Chicomon where it used to be the overlap. The new overlap is Paladin Mode, which was priorly a Leafmon exclusive.

The Leafmon path is initially locked, alongside Paladin Mode.

With how deep of the virtual pet hole I'm diving into as of late, I think it's time I made a separate log for the (almost) daily misadventures of raising these digital critters.

FAQ:

Q: You realize cringe is dead, right? You're free, girl! Do what you want!

A: Well, it's true- but these logs are more for solely keeping track of how my tamagotchis and digimon are doing.

Q: Favorite tamagotchi? Favorite digimon?

A: Mimitchi is a favorite classic tamagotchi of mine, as well as the obscure Sonictchi from the Saturn game- as for modern tamagotchi, Kuromametchi has grown on me. With Digimon, I have a fondness for the Herissmon line as well as any feline digimon, and maybe Lucemon mainly because of how interesting how his line progresses.

Q: How long have been raising these things?

A: I can guess....20ish years? I'm currently 29 rn.

Q: damn your old lol

A: It comes with the territory of getting older. XD

Q: How many Tamagotchi do you even have ?

A: 12 vintage/replica versions, one Angelgotchi (US version), a V3 Connection, 3 Tama On models, a 4U, 6 Digimon (20th anniversary vers.), a pair of MesuOsu (under repairs currently), 2 DigimonX (would've been three if not for Amazon recalling one of my devices), Vital Bracelet, 2 nano versions (Hello Kitty and Guiditama), and 2 toumapet devices (unofficial devices, lol)- So, up to 31 devices total.

Q: Holy Moly! You can't run all those at once!

A: In theory! But with timing, a bit of luck, and some time pausing (insert JoJoke here) it's possible.

Month 3 of Floppy Frog. He's officially a senior citizen in GigaPet years... how much longer can he last? More impressive is the fact that I STILL have not had to change the batteries that came with it.

Also I have put my DMC ver 2 back in the box for now, but I haven't run a different V-pet in it's place, I just couldn't decide. I thought about a Tamagotchi but I don't think my attention span is there at the moment.

And I am pretty close to getting the last Digimon I need on my good old translucent green DM20th to complete the Digimon Log, so I can finally retire it for good... though I feel like I might backpedal on that, I'm so attached to it... at the very least, I might just put it back in the box and start running my yellow DM20th, which was the first DM20th I bought.

I kind of want to complete my log for the Pen20th but the fact that those things are so prone to data loss makes me not want to bother. Also the fact that Digimon fans seem so sure that a Pendulum Color may happen evenually makes me want to just not bother with the Pendulum 20th at all anymore, which sucks given how much I paid for it, haha.

I s2g they better not announce color versions of DMX or PenZ in the next five years, it will make me feel like I just threw my money in the trash collecting these things lol. ( actually that would be pretty sick tho )

I’m so happy! I was helping my friends move and as I was leaving I happened to see this hanging from their key rack. I asked where they got one from and they said they weren’t even using it so they just outright gave it to me! Best example ever of doing good things and getting good things in return. Here’s a picture of my little boi sleeping soundly in bed tonight. I never got to have one of the original V-Pets and I’ve obviously been a huge fan of Digimon for years. I’m so excited!

Sistermon Noir debuted along with her younger sister Sistermon Blanc in Digimon Collectors back in 2012. They later appeared in 2017 in Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Hacker's Memory's Chapter 7, as well as being obtainable as partner Digimon.

When the game was localized, Sistermon Noir was changed to Sistermon Ciel, due to her invoking religious imagery being considered a no good for North America.

The European version did not get censored though. Some screenshots for comparison:

in 2018, a year after the North American release of Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth: Hacker's Memory, Sistermon Ciel got officially added to the Digimon Reference Book. It was also obtainable through a download code in the Digimon Pendulum Ver. 20th.

While her model in Hacker's Memory was only a recolor with a few very simple model changes, in both her normal and awakened form, she received a redesign with her introduction to the Reference Book. This also changed her weapon of choice from Sistermon Noir's guns to a katana. The Book states that she is the elder twin sister of Sistermon Noir and an assassin at night.

Now, I think there is a conversation to be had about Sistermon Noir's cencorship. Where is the line? Why is Sistermon Noir not okay, but Sistermon Blanc and Sistermon Ciel are alright? Is it just because of the black nun outfit? Isn't the name "Sistermon" and a white nun outfit also invoking relgious imagery?

Also why is this not acceptable for christian imagery, but the monk imagery of Sanzomon is no problem?

Now I am not saying there should be more cencorship. I just think it's somewhat hypocritical. Having grown up in Germany, where this kind of cencorship is not present, and with words like "hell" ("Hölle") or "damn" ("verdammt") being very much present in children's television, seeing Sistermon Noir getting completely wiped from the Western version of the Digimon Card Game is just ridiculous to me. But that is my personal opinion of course.

Now, to the cards. All cards of Sistermon Noir got replaced with Sistermon Ciel in the English release. Name and Type were all changed accordingly, however recent Errata added that each Sistermon Noir is supposed to also be coinsidered as being named Sistermon Ciel and having the type Data, as well as all Sistermon Ciel to also be considered as being named Sistermon Noir and having the type Virus. In BT10 Sistermon Ciel got her first card in the Japanese release, which of course then was kept as is in the English release.

Furthermore, cards that featured Sistermon Noir had her erased.

They did however, miss her in the background of this card:

for anyone who have a digital monster ver. 20th v-pet, i have a question: what does it mean if your digimon just kinda shakes their head when you try to go to the colluseum? does it mean that you’ve reached a limit for how many battles they can fight, or something?
