I had to rage annotate the edgy slam poetry
#Listen my poetry skills are rusty like most pf my writing analysis skills but like this sucks right?#Like i know almost rhymes are a thing but this shit does not seem intentional so its just kind of nothing and its not like its doing almost#Rhymes to unseat the reader or like idk not to go game of thrones mode but subvert the readers expectations#And its slam poetry so it doesnt need to but still theyre there#And theres the alliteration of sounds for one line and thats it!!!!!!! You arent doing anything fun or interesting with it!!!!#Also how do puddles fly and sheets wither like puddles are known for being...on the ground and sheets are like?????? Girl living things#Wither not sheets like say wrinkled but oh sorry i forgot thats not edgy enough mr puts guts berserks backstory in my slam poetry#Also like i know the sheets are red because ooohh blood colored thats spooky but that doesnt add anything that doesnt make an 'immaculate#Room' less immaculate it just makes it red#Also the break there is the page transition since im reading a digital copy but it might as well be in the texts for how poorly this all#Connects#Like why are you talking about rooms and death and being like oh i cant breathe like??? Even with death youre not describing smell shit#Youre only describing the visuals !!!#The rest of it is just so edgy it turns into pudding for how little substance it has!!!!!!!#Also sorry the it controls line still makes no sense to me like position is the noun right beforehand so its the antecedent or whatever the#Word is but it makes no sense like yeah i guess it does like the position/environment youre in controls your reactions to it but idk its#Just clunky and edgy and stupid#colleen hoover#Hater hours#Sorry for accidentally getting so mad i do poetry analysis but well coho has that effect on me i guess

'Emma continued to entertain no doubt of her being in love. Her ideas only varied as to the how much. At first, she thought it was a good deal; and afterwards, but little. She had great pleasure in hearing Frank Churchill talked of; and, for his sake, greater pleasure than ever in seeing Mr. and Mrs. Weston; she was very often thinking of him, and quite impatient for a letter, that she might know how he was, how were his spirits, how was his aunt, and what was the chance of his coming to Randalls again this spring. But, on the other hand, she could not admit herself to be unhappy, nor, after the first morning, to be less disposed for employment than usual; she was still busy and cheerful; and, pleasing as he was, she could yet imagine him to have faults; and farther, though thinking of him so much, and, as she sat drawing or working, forming a thousand amusing schemes for the progress and close of their attachment, fancying interesting dialogues, and inventing elegant letters; the conclusion of every imaginary declaration on his side was that she *refused him*. Their affection was always to subside into friendship. Every thing tender and charming was to mark their parting; but still they were to part. ... "I do not find myself making any use of the word sacrifice," said she.-- "In not one of all my clever replies, my delicate negatives, is there any allusion to making a sacrifice. I do suspect that he is not really necessary to my happiness. So much the better. I certainly will not persuade myself to feel more than I do. I am quite enough in love. I should be sorry to be more."' - Emma, Jane Austen

there is an academic text I've been trying to get my hands on, and I tracked down an ebook copy held by the national library, but due to legal restrictions it's only available for viewing on a library computer on their premises. like the only way I can read this research is to go to the national central library, book a computer desk, and scroll through it on a pc monitor for hours on end.
this digital copyright shit is so stupid, it makes me SO fucking mad. it costs nobody anything to let readers access this shit from home. it's a bunch of bits and bytes, the ebook file already exists. but publishers (and I include universities in this) are so brain rotten and craven that they will block any attempt to make information more accessible just in case there's a chance they'd miss out on one person with a really specific research interest paying them like £17 to look at a word document in a more comfortable chair.

My very last comic for The Nib! End of an era! Transcription below the cut. instagram / patreon / portfolio / etsy / my book / redbubble
The first event I went to with GENDER QUEER was in NYC in 2019 at the Javits Center.
So many of the people who came to my signing were librarians, and so many of them said the same thing: "I know exactly who I want to give this to!" Maia: "Thank you for helping readers find my book!" While working on the book, I was genuinely unsure if anyone outside of my family and close friends would read it. But the early support of librarians and two American Library Association awards helped sell two print runs in first year.
Since then, GENDER QUEER been published in 8 languages, with more on the way: Spanish, Czech, Polish, French, Italian, Norwegian, Portugese and Dutch.
It has also been the most banned book in the United States for the past two years. The American Library Association has tracked an astronomical increase in book challenges over the past few years. Most of these challenges are to books with diverse characters and LGBTQ themes. These challenges are coming unevenly across the US, in a pattern that mirrors the legislative attacks on LGBTQ people. The Brooklyn Public Library offered free eCards to anyone in the US aged 13-21, in an effort to make banned books more available to young readers. A teacher in Norman, Oklahoma gave her students the QR code for the free eCard and lost her job. Summer Boismeir is now working for the Brooklyn Public Library. Hoopla and Libby/Overdrive, apps used to access digital library books, are now banned in Mississippi to anyone under 18. Some libraries won’t allow anyone under 18 to get any kind of library card without parental permission. When librarians in Jamestown, Michigan refused to remove GENDER QUEER and several other books, the citizens of the town voted down the library’s funding in the fall 2022 election. Without funding, the library is due to close in mid-2024. My first event since covid hit was the American Library Association conference in June 2022 in Washington, DC. Once again, the librarians in my signing line all had similar stories for me: “Your book was challenged in our district" "It was returned to the shelf!" "It was removed from the shelf..." "It was moved to the adult section."
Over and over I said: "Thank you. Thank you for working so hard to keep my book in your library. I’m sorry you had to defend it, but thank you for trying, even if it didn't work." We are at a crossroads of freedom of speech and censorship. The future of libraries, both publicly funded and in schools, are at stake. This is massively impacting the daily lives of librarians, teachers, students, booksellers, and authors around the country. In May 2023, I read an article from the Washington Post analyzing nearly 1000 of the book challenges from the 2021-2022 school year. I was literally on route to a festival to talk about book bans when I read a startling statistic. 60% of the 1000 book challenges were submitted by just 11 people. One man alone was responsible for 92 challenges. These 11 people seem to have made submitting copy-cat book challenges their full-time hobby and their opinions are having an outsized ripple effect across the nation. WE NEED TO MAKE THE VOICES SUPPORTING DIVERSE BOOKS AND OPPOSING BOOK BANS EVEN LOUDER. If you are able too, show up for your library and school board meetings when book challenges are debated. Send supportive comments and emails about the Pride book display and Drag Queen story hours. If you see a display you like– for Banned Book Week, AAPI Month, Black History Month, Disability Awareness Month, Jewish holidays, Trans Day of Remembrance– compliment a librarian! Make sure they feel the love stronger than the hate <3

Fanfiction Authors: HEADS UP
(Non-authors, please RB to signal boost to your author friends!)
An astute reader informed me this morning that one of my fics (Children of the Future Age) had been pirated and was being sold as a novel on Amazon:
Tumblr media
(And they weren't even creative with their cover design. If you're going to pirate something that I spent a full year of my life writing, at least give me a pretty screenshot to brag about later. Seriously.)
I promptly filed a DMCA complaint to have it removed, but I checked out the company that put it up -- Plush Books -- and it looks like A LOT of their books are pirated fic. They are by no means the only ones doing this, either -- the fact that """publishers""" can download stories from AO3 in ebook format and then reupload them to Amazon in just a few clicks makes fic piracy a common problem. There are a whole host of reasons why letting this continue is bad -- including actual legal risk to fanfiction archives -- but basically:
IF YOU ARE A FANFIC AUTHOR WITH LONG AND/OR POPULAR WORKS, PLEASE CHECK AMAZON TO SEE IF YOUR STORIES HAVE BEEN PIRATED.
You can search for your fics by title, or by text from the description (which is often just copied wholesale from AO3 as well). If you find that someone has stolen your work and is selling it as their own, you can lodge a DMCA complaint (Amazon.com/USA site; other countries have different systems). If you haven't done this before, it's easy! Here's a tutorial:
HOW TO FILE A COPYRIGHT COMPLAINT FOR STOLEN WORK ON AMAZON.COM:
First, go to this form. You'll need to be signed into your Amazon account.
Select the radio buttons/dropdown options (shown below) to indicate that you are the legal Rights Owner, you have a copyright concern, and it is about a pirated product.
Enter the name of your story in the Name of Brand field.
In the Link to the Copyrighted Work box, enter a link to the story on AO3 or whatever site your work is posted on.
Tumblr media
In the Additional Information box, explain that you are the author of the work and it is being sold without your permission. That's all you really need. If you want, you can include additional information that might be helpful in establishing the validity of your claim, but you don't have to go into great detail. You can simply write something like this:
I am the author of this work, which is being sold by [publisher] without my permission. I originally published this story in [date/year] on [name of site], and have provided a link to the original above. On request, I can provide documentation proving that I am the owner of the account that originally posted this story.
Tumblr media
In the ASIN/ISBN-10 field, copy and paste the ID number from the pirated copy's URL. You'll find this ten-digit number in the Amazon URL after the word "product," as in the screenshot below. (If the URL extends beyond this number, you can ignore everything from the question mark on.) Once this number has been added, Amazon will pull the product information automatically and add it to the complaint form, so you can check the listing title and make sure it's correct.
Tumblr media
Finally, add your contact information to the relevant fields, check the "I have read and accept the statements" box, and then click Submit. You should receive an email confirmation that Amazon has received the form.
Please share this information with your writer friends, keep an eye out for/report pirated works, and help us keep fanfiction free and legally protected!
NOTE: All of the above also applies to Amazon products featuring stolen artwork, etc., so fan artists should check too!

Pairing: bf!Jungkook x gf!reader
Summary: your boyfriend wakes up in the middle of the night with a big problem, luckily you’re there to help him.
Warnings: I don’t know shit about lube and I think you can tell 💀, cock warming, jk’s fucks her in her sleep, unprotected sex, pet names, not proofread!!
Wc: 500+
Note: I don’t even know what this is, I just started writing and this came out. Enjoy 💀
————
“Baby?”
You stir out of your sleep. You look to the side to find a pair of doe, big, round eyes looking at you, due to it being night, it’s dark, obviously. You can’t see much but can make out your boyfriend laying next to you with sweat building up on his forehead.
“I need you.” He whimpers.
And that’s when you realize his hand under the blanket, “I’m so hard.” He whispers, not stopping moving his hand.
You take a look at the digital clock on the night stand and gasp, “Kook, it’s 4am! Are you serious?”
Jungkook bites his lip, you scolding him is just making him harder, “baby, will you help me now or just scold me?”
You almost fall asleep again hearing his soothing, low voice.
“But I’m tired, might fall asleep if you’re gonna keep talking,” you mumble, slowly drifting off again. Jungkook stops jerking himself off and cups your face, pulling you closer until his nose is touching yours, “then at least cock warm me.” He kisses the tip of your nose softly.
“Mhm.” You tiredly nod.
Jungkook kisses you again and grabs the lube from the drawer of the nightstand. He squirts a good amount on his hand before stroking his cock. Once the lube is on his cock, he smears the rest which is left on his fingers on your pussy.
You’re just lying there, trying so hard not to fall asleep.
Jungkook teases your hole with his tip before finally pushing it in.
You moan and hold into his shoulders. Jungkook groans in pure bliss, you’re wrap around him so good.
Once he’s all in, Jungkook pecks your lips and whispers, “thank you, baby.”
You huff in response making him chuckle at your cuteness.
————
Jungkook stirs in his sleep before opening his eyes. He looks down to find himself still buried deep inside you.
“Fuck,” he whispers.
He grabs your hips to keep you in place and starts thrusting into you, slowly.
He bites his lips to conceal any noises, “mhm, just like that.” He mumbles to himself.
Jungkook wants to go faster but he doesn’t want to wake you up.
He keeps thrusting into you, at one point he even fastens his pace but quickly slows down once you stir in your sleep.
His large palms rest on your ass, he squeezes your cheeks a few times, not hard tho.
Jungkook looks down, he sees his cock disappearing in your pussy, he moans at the sight, “fuck, baby.” He breathlessly says.
Luckily you don’t wake up. You’ve had a long day at work, so you’re out like light and don’t notice your boyfriend fucking you in your sleep.
“Gonna come.” He pants.
He carefully moves your hips, so they meet his.
He grunts as he comes in you.
He removes his hands from you and covers his face with his hands, “shit.”
He cleans himself up and wears his clothes again. He slides in bed again and wraps his arms around you, kissing your head, he drifts off.
————
“What the fuck…..” you mumble while looking at your state.
Cum dripping out of you.
You look at your boyfriend who’s sleeping peacefully. You look at the clock. 7am.
You need to get ready for work now, Jungkook starts work later today.
“Kook,” you attempt to wake him up, but he doesn’t even move, “fucker.” You mumble before pecking his cute cheeks and leaving for the bathroom to clean yourself up and get ready for work.

The Disenchantment by Celia Bell [Review]
Tumblr media
3/5 ⭐Stars
The Disenchantment, is exactly that. The novel starts out strong by introducing Baroness Marie Catherine, a wife you begin to sympathize with. Haven't we all had a less than perfect relationship that made you think of what life could be like if you could just escape it? In that, we soon learn of Victoire Rose de Bourbon, Mademoiselle de Conti, a free-spirited woman with a lack experience in the realm of maturity, with whom society allows to roam feral. So what happens naturally, is exactly what we would expect from Victoire. A couple of other major characters in this story is the painter Lavoie, and policeman Gabriel Nicolas de le Reynie and the Lady's Maid Jeanne.
I so wanted to love this story. I really liked the way the perspective switched and changed in a way that felt like you were watching a movie (and it wasn't confusing at all). I also appreciated the storytelling that took place throughout the novel, as it shows you exactly how the Baroness and Victoire could have gotten into the situation they found themselves in. Of course a woman that spent so much time in a make-believe land would find herself facing very real perils of her actual life. And of course she could easily pretend that it wasn't as bad as it actually was.
The reason I call this book a disenchantment, in itself, is because though the story is very slow, it does tug you through the emotions of the Marie Catherine and Victoire. You find yourself starting to become disenchanted with the story, you already know how it's going to end. You can taste the way the deed as tainted an otherwise exciting experience and just how fragile the concept of their love was.
I also find it disenchanting that the end of the story is a loose end. This must be because the author is going to write a sequel to the story-- otherwise, it's a very poor attempt at tying loose ends. What of Victoire after her talk with King's favored Mistress? What about Lavoie and Reynie after the chase? And Marie Catherine and her children? How did that play out on the night of her departure? And of course you cannot forget Jeanne and Henri. Was Henri ever punished? Did Jeanne make it to a better place with her treasure? I'm hoping the ending is not just a sloppy tie together.
Because of the slow read, the loose plotline ending, and the general wanderings that happen throughout the story (which sometimes feel like they're there to take up space on the page to further the page count), I give this book 3 stars out of 5. It definitely was not my favorite read in 2023.

cw. fingering, childe's a meanie, fem! reader, this is a quick freestyle
Tumblr media
"ugh, well, what a pain that i have to leave you in a bit, hm?"
childe trails kisses across your face before sliding his fingers inside of you— digging into your hole with just the right amount of pleasure when you lean into you, wanting more. he curls his digits up a little as you moan into his neck, moving into his touch, the hot air hitting his skin.
"anyways, do you have any plans tomorrow?"
childe looks at you with a blunt face, like he isn't just scissoring your cunt so surprisingly unconvenient when he suddenly begins to ask you a bunch of questions, keeping the conversation going like he wasn't knuckle deep inside of you, sliding and slipping until you're writhing— sinking his fingers into the mushy flesh while telling you how, hot, sweet, good and warm you feel when, "i was thinking about dinner at this fancy new place?"
it's all so filthy— the way you cannot talk back and childe knows, he's aware all you can do is reply in small hitches and crumbling moans while he was discoving spots and places in your slickness, driving you absolutely wild.
childe presses himself so deep into your hole as the heel of his hand hits your clit, making you yelp out in surprise— understanding he's waiting for an answer, "s-sounds good… really good, ajax," you hold onto his shirt desperately, drawing in moans and gasps as he just laughs at you, giving a little hum before nodding his head to reassure you as your brain quickly overloads, hips twitching and fucking his hand.

Okay, I'll admit it. I'm one of those people who priates books. But only because I've bought so many books that disappointed me! I need to flip through a bit of it before buying.
Sometimes, if the author has kofi or patreon or something, I like to just give them the full price of the book. That way they get it all. But I also know that this isn't the perfect answer because it messes with stats and actual readership and therefore advertising and the platform they are selling on promoting it....
It's complicated. Maybe I should buy the book normally and tip the author what the publishers/printers/distributors take? But that can get really pricey fast. Ugh.
Books are often a luxury when you have no money. I’m very familiar with that. I've saved up for several months sometimes because I wanted a $5.99 ebook and didn't want to steal from the author. That’s just what being poor is. Wanting something doesn't entitle me to it.
That said, most books these days have a reading sample on purchasing sites so you can see if you like the style. Most sites also offer refunds, at least on digital books, before you reach a certain point. (please be sparing with refunds if you can. The refund is taken from the author/publisher, not Amazon. Same with audible. My audible funds are often close to zero or negative because people just return and reuse their monthly credit.)
You can also check and see if the books are available at your library, and if not, request them. Honestly, library sales are so, so, so good for authors. Libraries pay higher lending license rates to authors, and also, depending on the country, every time someone checks out my book via Libby or the local equivalent, I get a little tiny amount of money (we’re talking literal pennies, but it can add up), and it increases the library’s likelihood of re-purchasing the library lending license the following year.
You can alsp sign up to be an ARC (advanced reader copy) reader through places like NetGalley or by checking if the author offers ARCs as well. In a world of algorithms, books live and die by reviews. Some of us are quite happy to give out ARCs for new and upcoming titles.
Failing that and you have absolutely no other option... Yeah. Ko-fi or whatever is an option. Even if I wish they didn't do it because it fucks my sales metrics, I still appreciate when I get a little ding on ko-fi for the exact amount of the book. It's always telling. I even sometimes get little anon messages going “sorry for pirating your book it was really good.”
Like thank you. Please buy the next one properly, lol.
