Prompt List

This year, we will have one big theme, which is Back To School, in hope that this will be a very cool Digi-school for all the participants—not the scary one! The big theme helps the mods to curate this year’s prompts, but this doesn’t mean every submission should be school-themed. (But of course if you want to draw Hiro Amanokawa in his school uniform, or write a fic about Jyou Kido taking the university entrance exam, we will welcome them too!)

In relation to the big theme, we will have 2 main prompts each day. One of them is a school-related prompt, which we connect to a more general prompt. The general prompts will then generate some optional sub-prompts.

In conclusion, always remember that you can either:

Interpret each (or both) main prompt as you like, or;

Choose one (or all) of the sub-prompts available, or;

Make your own sub-prompts as long as it is in line with one of the main prompts.

Day 1: First Day (Beginning)

sub-prompts:

Tell us about a character; a character you love, a character you created.

Tell us about your favorite Digimon series.

Day 2: Sports Day (Relationship)

sub-prompts:

Tell us about a Digimon x DigiDestined partnership.

Tell us a relationship in Digimon (romantic, friendship, family, rivalries, ot3/4/etc).

Day 3: Recess (Humor)

sub-prompts:

Tell us anything funny about Digimon (funny scenes, funny moments, funny memories).

Make a meme about Digimon.

Just do funny/cute stuff. You know we love it.

Day 4: School's Play (Drama)

sub-prompts:

Tell us anything sad about Digimon (sad episodes, sad moments, sad memories).

Just do angst/dark stuff. We know you love it.

Day 5: Festival (Crossover)

sub-prompts:

Build your own Digimon Multiverse by combining characters from different Digimon series.

Do a crossover of Digimon with other fandoms.

Day 6: Exam (Challenge)

sub-prompts:

Do something out of your comfort zone.

Day 7: Graduation (Free Day)

The prompts will also be available on this page.

We will post some walkthroughs of the prompts as scheduled in our main page's sidebar to give you food for thought. You can also check out the amazing submissions from last year through the #digiweek2021 tag. Who knows it may allow you to explore some ideas and help you to prepare for the event?

行逢りば兄弟 • ichariba chode

Ichariba Chode is an Okinawan Japanese saying that means “through we meet but once, even by chance, we are friends for life.” The phrase was also said by Wataru Urazoe, Takato’s grandfather, when Takato visited Okinawa in the movie Digimon Tamers: Battle of The Adventurer. The phrase, I believe, is a perfect description of the relationship between the humans and their respective Digimon partner in general. For Tamers and some other Digimon universes, it is unfortunate that they could only be together for a short time, but forever they will be friends. And of course, our hope is no less bigger than theirs: for someday, they can be with each other again. Home is wherever your family is, be it your biological family, or the found family we establish throughout our lives. I’d like to think the team of Chosen see one another as found family members, a cohesive unit that uplifts and supports one another throughout their lives. I have always loved this aspect of their bond from the beginning: they always have each other’s back through the good and the bad times because they are one team, one unit, one family. In the end, I think that feeling of belonging and closeness is something we all seek.

Digiweek Day 2: Voyage

Voyage makes me think of the ocean so I had this cute idea of everyone riding Ikkakumon :) he’s my favorite mode of transportation. Wish I could ride Ikkakumon across the ocean that’d be so cool and fun

DIGIWEEK, Day 2: Voyage

It may come as a surprise if you only follow my artblogs, but I love Frontier! I discovered it at a time when I thought Digimon was over and done with, and the idea of “children stuck wandering around the Digital World” was such a return to a format I loved and hadn’t even realize I missed that I couldn’t help but be sucked in right away. So when it came to this prompt, I knew I had to pay homage to the themes of the show and the journey these wonderful kids (and their monster friends!) go on together.

Originally the background was just going to be six Trailmon tracks converging into one Rainbow of Teamwork(tm), but the more I thought about it, the more I realized it was more complicated than that. Characters leave, they come back, they go on parallel journeys that we don’t get the full picture of. My tracks don’t quite capture all of that, but I tried to get the major story beats.

I also ended up drawing a map of the (undamaged) Digital World that I imagine Bokomon would make notes on as they traveled together! Please note it does not show everything they encountered and also that I ended up placing landmarks solely for the sake of visibility, lol. But I had fun drawing it, and please have fun trying to find all ten Legendary Spirit symbols on there! 

Happy (almost) 20th anniversary, Frontier! Thanks for being there for me every time I’ve needed you. <3

Digiweek 2021 • Day 4: Dark/Light

What if your (favourite) characters become corrupted or turn evil?

For this prompt, I got a friend’s help and we made it together based on Dark Precure 5 & Bad End Precure evil precures. Those are not the real 02 kids but rather mirror clones of them -- The Vicious/Mirror 02 kids.

This old concept was revamped with this friend’s help to make more sense for the kids. Our method was taking all of their vices, making them exaggerated and erasing their empathy.

Now, quoting said friend’s words about all six:

Daisuke: The kind of slimeball who kisses up to authority and people more powerful than him to get into their good books. Never has the guts to do any dirty work himself and constantly tries to get other people to do it for him.

Miyako: The sort of berserker with no restraint who tears down anything and everything in unrestricted chaos thanks to having pent-up energy and bloodlust.

Iori: The only one who genuinely believes he's doing good, but convinced that his way is true and right regardless of the casualties, and that anyone who disagrees must be suppressed and eliminated.

Takeru: A pathological liar and one you can never tell the loyalties of. May betray everyone at any second, because in the end he's in it for himself.

Hikari: A master manipulator and someone who gets others to do what she wants without too much effort, who enjoys having control over others without remorse.

Ken: The Kaiser if he'd lost all the dregs of empathy he had left. An ambitious person who secretly believes he's naturally superior to others and is ultimately hoping to subjugate them all after everything is said and done.

Also, they all hate each other because there's no trust, no mutual understanding, no agreement, and a very high likelihood of betrayal at any moment. They tolerate each other as long as their goal is somewhat similar.
